Snow had a unique way of muffling the noises of the forest. Even the birds were quiet, hardly making a peep. Deer moved silently through the trees ahead. Hoof prints disturbed the fresh snow at my feet and led toward the herd partially concealed by trees ahead. Large forms picked around the trees and undergrowth, barely visible through the bramble. A twig snapped somewhere to the side, sounding rather close. When I slowly turned toward the noise, a doe with her ears perked stared at me. I froze. The herd was bigger than I first thought and I was in the middle of it.
Something shifted in the treetops above where more of the herd grazed on the limited winter greens, much too big to be a bird. A shadow dropped silently out of the treetops. The herd bolted. Panicked deer sprang through the trees and bushes all around. I jumped for a tree branch above and swung my leg over it, lest I be trampled beneath their sharp hooves. Balanced on my stomach on the branch, I waited.
Branches shifted, bushes rattled and out stepped my husband with his fresh kill—a young buck—slung over one shoulder.
Goku turned his always-present, easy going smile up at me. "Heh, whatcha doin' way up there?"
Heat spread across my cheeks. "I, uh, didn't want to get trampled."
Goku dropped the dead buck in the snow and held his arms out for me. "Drop. I'll catch ya."
I hung by my hands and dropped. Goku caught me without so much of a grunt. Locked on mine, his big, dark eyes blinked. I pressed a kiss to his cheek before I could think better of it. He let out a quiet little giggle and set me on my feet in the ankle-deep snow, delightful pink blossoming across his cheeks. He lifted the buck, slung it around his broad shoulders and led the way out of the forest and toward home.
"We've been married three weeks today," I said, the realization throwing a little skip in my step.
Goku smiled over his shoulder and held his gloved hand out toward me. We held hands all the way home—except for where we had to hop over a frozen stream. Goku seemed happy living with me in our little home on Mt. Paozu. Goodness knew I was.

Autumn Love IV
Day Four: Sweater
It was the rise of Gohan's Ki that awakened Goku. His eyes opened to ChiChi sleeping beside him. ChiChi was a light sleeper. She had to be since she was always the first one up getting breakfast cooked and waking up the others to start their day. An alarm wouldn't do for ChiChi would wake up and be aware of what Goku was up to. He needed Gohan to be his alarm clock. Carefully, Goku got out of bed, grabbed the tote bag he had hidden and quietly left.
Goku followed Gohan to the family room. Gohan sat at the end of the sofa where he had a view of anyone coming from the bedrooms. Gohan opened the bag he brought from his room. He pulled out pairs of knitting needles, scissors and two yarn needles. He handed a set to Goku. "I got all we need." He dug into his bag again, pulled out a large ball of bulky yarn, and handed it to Goku. "I got enough to make a sweater. Is this soft enough?"
Goku felt the yarn and rubbed it against his face. "Yeah. This is good."
"I read a book in class and watched some videos. I think we can do this." Gohan wasn't sure how well they will be at it. He studied and memorized the steps but it didn't mean what they made would be any good. "Do you have Mom's measurements?"
It was Goku's turn to reveal his bag. "I tried to use the measurement tape you gave me but I couldn't find a good time to measure Mom. I tried last night and she woke up with me over her. So…. I distracted her."
Gohan was old enough to know what Goku did to distract her. He quickly moved on so that wasn't a topic for Goku to dread on. "If we don't have measurements, we can't do this, Dad."
"I know. I know. That's why I went into her drawer." Goku pulled out material he thought they could use. "I got this."
"Dad!" Gohan jumped from the sofa as if Goku released a bear on him. "That's Mom's bra!" Quickly, Gohan clamped a hand over his mouth. He was loud. He hoped he didn't wake anyone, especially ChiChi.
Goku innocently held ChiChi's black laced bra. "What's wrong?" It was undergarments and it was private but ChiChi wasn't wearing it. Besides, he needed ChiChi's measurements to be accurate. "It's clean."
"That's not the point!" Gohan whispered loudly. The material was so offensive. Gohan was old enough to know girls like Videl and women like his Mom wore one but he didn't need to see it! "Dad, we're making a sweater. Why did you get Mom's bra?"
"I wanted ChiChi's chest measurements to be perfect and her breasts look great in this."
Gohan turned away and threw his hands up. He's going to have nightmares. He's going to have nightmares for the rest of his life. "Please tell me you got something else."
Goku put the bra back in the bag and Gohan sat down relieved but remained on edge over what Goku will bring out next. It was a shirt. A shirt was good. A shirt was safe. A shirt wouldn't make him vomit. Gohan measured the shirt and calculated the adjustments for a smaller size. "Okay. I think I got everything. Let's begin."
Gohan teaching Goku how to knit in the middle of the night would be something no one, not Goku's friends, his enemies, and not even his family would expect of him but it was something Goku wanted to accomplish in this limited time spawned by an ordinary morning of breakfast two days ago.
Two Days Ago
It was amazing to ChiChi how quickly her family's routine returned to normal after Goku's return from the dead. There were a few complications explaining how Goku returned to life and scaring several people who thought Goku was a ghost but for ChiChi, life was wonderful again.
Over these months, Goku spent it catching up with his family. At ChiChi's insistence, Goku spent most of the time catching up with their sons. There were many hikes and camping trips for Goku to bond with his sons. There were sparring sessions and stories shared of Goku camping with young Gohan and teaching Goten wilderness survival while getting to know his youngest boy.
That's not to say ChiChi didn't have alone time with Goku. There were moments in the morning when Goku would be in the kitchen doing pushups. They'd talk and sometimes share tender hugs and kisses. Most of their connecting occurred at night while their sons slept. There were many long nights of talking and engaging in other activities. They had yet to have alone time for days and though Goku obeyed ChiChi's wishes and bonded with their sons first, he was getting restless and in certain ways let ChiChi know he longed to be with her alone for a few days. ChiChi felt that deep need, too, and made arrangements to do something about that.
"Bye, Mom! I'm off to school!" Gohan stood at the door with his bookbag slung over a shoulder.
ChiChi gathered Gohan's empty plates off the table. "Bye, Gohan. Have a good day!"
"Bye, Dad!" Gohan waved before leaving.
ChiChi turned to the entryway to see Goku walking in as he yawned. Some days he missed Gohan's early departure for school. He wasn't the only one. Goten did, too. "Morning, Sleepyhead." Seeing Goku's mouth open and uncovered, she stuffed a biscuit into it. "What have I told you about yawning with your mouth open?"
Goku swallowed the buttery bread after three bites. "Keep doing it so you can feed me?"
ChiChi slapped his stomach. "Sit down. I'll get your breakfast."
ChiChi placed Gohan's empty plates into the sink. She went over to the hot stove and began piling food on Goku's starter plate when she felt his strong arms circle her body and his face pressed against her neck. His nose brushed against her skin as he inhaled her scent. His teeth nipped her sensitive ear lobe before whispering.
"How much time do we have before Goten gets up?"
ChiChi checked the clock on the wall. "I don't know. Five? Ten?" She felt Goku's hands move up to cup her breasts. "Hey, we can't do that now. Goten will walk in on us." She scolded him but she didn't move his hands away. She didn't want to for she needed him, too. "I talked to Dad. He will watch Gohan and Goten this weekend while we have the house to ourselves." Goku's grip on her breasts slipped. It allowed ChiChi to turn around and stare into his wondrous face.
"The whole weekend? You and me?"
ChiChi confirmed Goku's dubiousness with a kiss. "Just us and I wanna give you a gift."
"A gift?" Goku held his hands out. "Can I have it now?"
"No." Giggling, ChiChi turned away from him and resumed fixing his plate. "You have to wait."
"Do I have to give you a gift?"
"You coming back is my gift."
It was enough for ChiChi so it should be enough for him but it wasn't. Coming back to life after seven years left Goku reflective of their marriage and the mistakes made by both. His was so much it amazed him ChiChi welcomed him back with open arms. This second chance made him more determined to make up for that; be more involved and show ChiChi he wanted a fresh start to make it right. "I wanna give you a gift, too," Goku offered.
"You don't have to do that, Goku."
"I want to. If you can do it, I can, too. Where did you buy it?" Goku asked. "I can buy something at that place, too." He'll take Gohan with him for help but he'll buy ChiChi something.
"I didn't buy it. It's…. made."
Made. It must be clothes. The only things ChiChi made were clothes and food. Making clothes was something Goku didn't know how to do but he would try.
But as soon as Goku thought of his plan he realized he needed help. When Goku needed help with anything that didn't involve fighting, Goku went to ChiChi but since he couldn't go to her, he went to Gohan. He lured Gohan away saying he wanted him to help get a fish for the family for dinner.
"You want me to teach you how to knit a sweater?" Gohan was incredulous. "Dad, I don't know how to do that!" They were dressing now after getting fishes from the lake. "And, Dad, it's impossible to knit Mom a sweater before this weekend."
"Mom could do it."
Gohan grabbed his fish. "You're not Mom." Gohan opened his mouth to lecture Goku on how this was a bad idea and a waste of time when he noticed Goku looking defeated and frustrated but not at Gohan but at himself. "Why a sweater?" Gohan asked. If he understood his father's motivation, maybe he can get behind this crazy idea.
"I know it's not easy making a sweater but that's why I wanna do it, Gohan. I figure if I really try at something I'm bad at, ChiChi will know how much I wanna do something nice for her. I haven't been the best husband for her. I'm lucky to come back to life and have her want me back. I wanna do this right this time with her, with you, with Goten. All of you."
You don't need to do that, Dad. Mom knows. So do I. So do Goten. But Gohan knew that wasn't what his Dad needed to hear. "We can't have a full-size sweater ready for Mom, but maybe we can make a small one to show Mom what you will make for her."
And so father and son worked four hours straight for three long nights making a sweater. It wasn't easy. The first night was used teaching Goku how to hold the knitting needles and loop the yarn on them. They went over this step several times to the point Gohan almost gave up on Goku getting it. By the last hour of the night, Gohan got Goku to make a pattern and practice it on the farm the next day. The next night, Gohan reviewed Goku's work and the two began work on the actual sweater. Groans from Goku bending needles to ruining the pattern and sighs from Gohan repeating steps over and over to Goku and bribing Goten's silence with treats and when he caught them knitting followed until the night before Goku and ChiChi's long weekend began.
Gyumao surprised them by showing up a day early. He figured his daughter and son-in-law would love that idea. Gohan and Goten were happy to leave early. Goten loved it since it was one extra night of being spoiled by Grandpa and Gohan was glad to not have another night of sweater knitting with his Dad.
Goku wasn't ready for it. The tiny sweater was complete but tonight was the night he and Gohan were gonna work on ChiChi's sweater.
"Bye! Love you!" ChiChi shouted one last time to Gohan and Goten before they disappeared in her father's car. "That was nice of Dad to get the boys early. I did talk to him so he knows how important this is for us."
"But he was early," Goku whined.
ChiChi didn't mind that but she wondered why Goku did. "Dad knows how excited I am to give you my gift. Let's do that now."
"You wanna open our gifts first?" Goku hoped they could eat dinner first. At least he could have ChiChi's yummy food before she was disappointed with his gift.
ChiChi sat on the sofa and patted a seat for Goku to sit on. "Yes. You go first," ChiChi encouraged. "I wanna see what you made for me."
"Maybe you should share your gift first. It's better."
"Don't delay," ChiChi gently ordered him. "Show me your gift. I promise to not get mad if that what's you're worried about."
Maybe not mad but ChiChi will be disappointed and that was the last thing he wanted to make her. "Okay," Goku gave in. He went into the hall closet where he hid his knitting behind a shelf of family board games.
"It's just a sample," Goku warned ChiChi as he sat down. "I'm not good at this and Gohan thought I should make a sample of what I will make for you."
"Gohan?" ChiChi didn't know Gohan helped but perhaps that explained his weirdness around her lately and the way Goten would suddenly break out in laughs around Goku and Gohan. It was as if they all had a big secret. Maybe this was it. "Does Goten know?"
"Oh, yeah." Goku would never forget seeing Goten sleepily stumble upon them knitting and falling over the floor in laughter. He would've sprinted to the bedroom to tell ChiChi if he hadn't stopped Gohan. "He's been laughing at us ever since."
Laughing? This made ChiChi even more curious. What was Goku working on that embarrassed Gohan and caused Goten to laugh at both of them? "You have to show it to me." ChiChi held her hands out. "I'm ready. Gimme. Gimme."
ChiChi's excitement would make Goku happy but it made him dread her reaction. Goku placed a small gift bag on the seat and gently pushed it to her. "You can't use it but it's just a sample."
Goku's usually confident in a happy way but he looked so nervous to ChiChi and was he sweating? Is he that worried I won't like it? ChiChi opened the bag. What she expected wasn't what she saw. She pulled out a small sweater. Guessing, she figured a child could wear it. It was white and very soft.
"You knit me a sweater? You knitted…. for me?" Touched didn't begin to describe ChiChi's feelings. Goku didn't knit. ChiChi didn't think Goku had the patience for it or the skill if she was truly honest but he did and he did it for her. "Oh, Goku." ChiChi threw her arms around him and peppered his face with kisses. "It's beautiful. I love it!"
"You do?"
"Of course, silly! Why did you think I wouldn't love it?" She squeezed the tiny gift against her chest emphasizing her love.
"I know there wasn't enough time to make a sweater for you so I made a small one as a sample and I was gonna show you what I made so far of the sweater I was gonna make for you but your Dad came and got the boys early and I didn't make it." The disappointment was evident in his voice. It overwhelmed and touched ChiChi how Goku felt about this sweater. "It ain't gonna be easy but I am gonna do it."
ChiChi cupped Goku's face and tenderly kissed him. It wasn't a heavy and lusty kiss. It was a kiss of love and emotion so potent Goku felt tears from ChiChi's eyes fall on his skin. The sudden wetness caused Goku to break from her. He didn't mean to make her cry but this was a different cry. She wasn't sad. She was happy.
"ChiChi?"
"I think it's time I give you my gift now." ChiChi picked up the tiny sweater. "I can't wear this but our baby will."
"Baby?" Goku's eyes dropped down to ChiChi's stomach. Her waist was still tiny; she wasn't eating as she had with Gohan but as he concentrated he felt it. A tiny Ki. A new life growing in ChiChi. "When?"
"The second. The fifth. The sixth. The tenth, eleventh and twelfth." ChiChi rattled off days of the previous month when the conception possibly happened. "Take your pick."
"A baby?" Goku said again as it sank in. "A baby!" Overjoyed, Goku pulled ChiChi into his arms again. "Are you sure? We get to have another one?"
"We do." Happy tears flowed from ChiChi's eyes again. "And this time, I hope it's a girl."
"Me, too," Goku agreed. Two boys were nice but even Goku felt, it was time for a girl in the family.

What do you personally think about Goku and Chichi's relationship in comparison to K18?
It's different. I mean I really don't know what to say other than that. The two relationships have very different dynamics. But both work for the people involved. Goku and Chi-Chi have their love language, Krillin and 18 have theirs. Krillin and 18's is probably one of the more "normal" ones in the series, but that's about it.

The List
by RobynX_x
This whole story originally started as an idea for a one-shot for a prompt week (GoChi Fall Week 2022 - Day 2: Pumpkins/Apples/Cinnamon). However, once I started writing it kind of snowballed and now here I am with my own multi-chapter Space Adventure AU!
It has consumed me at times, but I love it and I’m so glad to give Chi-Chi (Chia) the opportunity to be the badass warrior that we all know she is.

Even with so many grown adults and three small children crammed into my mother's bedroom, the crowded space was somehow eerily quiet. All present were focused on mom, propped up to a shallow angle on a small stack of pillows and covered with an old handmade floral quilt—one of mom's creations. Gohan and I sat on opposite sides of our mother and each gently held one of her frail, arthritic hands. She was the most relaxed if we maintained a point of physical contact, so we did. Gohan and I hadn't left her side and had no plans to even as she drifted in and out of consciousness. Hard to believe only a little over three days before, when we all gathered to be with mom, all was well. That was before Gohan found her slumped on her sofa, before her severe stroke. Another small one so soon after took any chances she had of recovery with it. She was only seventy-eight.
The kind middle-aged hospice nurse took mom's vitals. When she pulled the blood-pressure cuff off mom's arm with the distinctive sound of ripping Velcro, she said, "Won't be long now."
Gohan and I nodded, both still focused on mom as the nurse stepped aside.
Mom lightly squeezed my hand. If Gohan's small smile was anything to go by, she squeezed his hand, too.
"She knows we're here," I murmured.
Gohan nodded again and brushed a strand of silver hair out of mom's wrinkled face. "Yeah. We're all here, mom. Videl, Pan, Uub, their kids, and Marron and the twins, too. We're all here."
Her mouth moved with a single, silent word: Goku. She sighed in her sleep but even still, she smiled.
"Heh, I think she's dreaming about Dad," I said.
Gohan chuckled.
Dad had been gone decades and she still never stopped loving him. She held out hope dad would come back some day all the way to the end. Gohan confided in me he had a feeling we wouldn't see dad again after he left with Shenron. Mom wouldn't hear it. I didn't want to admit it but on some level, I knew Gohan was right. Dad was really, truly gone.
We all—Gohan and me and our families—banded around mom after that. Marron and I built a house next-door to Gohan and Videl's place on Mt. Paozu right by mom's house. Mom seemed okay. She was strong but she missed dad deeply. Sometimes, I caught her gazing at dad's picture with tears in her eyes. When she'd notice me looking, she'd hurriedly set the picture down, wipe her eyes, and pretend nothing was wrong. We all missed dad but sometimes his bright, light-up-the-room smile came out in my girls, and his tenaciousness came out in Pan. That brought mom comfort and having us close by helped.
Mom's face scrunched up. A tear rolled down her cheek. Gohan and I exchanged a small frown. Was this…it?
Gohan wiped the tear off her pale cheek with a tissue and then froze mid motion. Something tugged at my ki sense. I shook my head and pushed the strange yet familiar warmth out of my mind. Surely, I was imagining things. Yeah, it was just wishful thinking. Maybe Gohan froze because mom's already rattly breathing changed. I glanced at Marron and out of the corner of my eye, saw Pan staring out mom's open bedroom door.
"Goten?" asked Marron.
All I could do was shake my head at her and stare at Gohan. "There's no way that's…?"
Focused intently on the open bedroom door, Gohan didn't respond right away. I didn't see anyone but I felt him.
A warm, golden glow flooded the hallway darkened by the setting sun and then faded. Footsteps approached across the hardwood floor, grew louder, and then there he was. A collective gasp spread through the room and no one dared move even a muscle. Dad stood in the doorway and looked around the room. He wore that same easy-going smile and that same orange gi he always did. He was in the prime of his life—or rather his death. A golden, glowing halo hovered inches over his wild hair.
His smile broadened. "Heh, hi everybody. Been a while, huh?"
"Goku," came a weak, raspy whisper next to me.
Dad's bright smile turned tender as his gaze slid to mom.
Marron, Videl, Pan, Uub and their kids stepped aside, clearing a short path from the door to mom's bed. Pan and Uub's three young children stared at dad. A blue-eyed girl with straight dark hair, the oldest by the name of Pumpa, pointed and whispered something to one of her younger brothers, curious about an incredible man they knew only through pictures and bedtime stories.
Dad took my place next to mom and took her hand in his. Another tear rolled down her cheek followed by a lot more. Dad grabbed a tissue and wiped her tears away. He pressed a kiss to her forehead.
Mom's eyelids twitched and then fluttered open but only half-way. She blinked a few times and then her rheumy-eyed gaze focused on dad.
The stroke stole her ability to speak but she did recognize and boy did her eyes brighten as they settled on Dad. Dad brushed his fingers lightly on the wrinkled skin of her cheek and she turned her head into his touch. She closed her eyes and her already barely-detectable ki dipped. Her chest stopped moving with her breath. Her ki disappeared altogether. Sniffles spread around the room and my eyes stung. I checked on my girls. Akina sobbed quietly into her hands and Keiko wrapped her arms around her twin sister. The young woman tried to be strong, as she always did, but she broke down, too. Marron stretched her arms as far as she could around them both and drew them in for the hug they needed.
At a tap on my shoulder, I looked to dad.
He nodded down at mom. "Watch."
A strange, soft glow enveloped mother but, beyond that, it took me a moment to even process what I was seeing. She changed right before my eyes. Her face was the first to change. Wrinkled skin smoothed and healthy color blossomed across her cheeks. Her short, thin grey hair turned dark and shiny from the root to tip and dramatically lengthened to what I remember from when I was a little boy. Knobby, arthritic fingers tucked in dad's hand turned slender and young. Transfixed, I almost didn't notice the halo that twinkled into existence over her head still resting on the pillows.
"Dad?" asked Gohan. "How in the world…?"
Dad glanced at Gohan and merely winked.
Mom stirred at dad's light touch to her cheek, took a breath, and opened her eyes.
She blinked and glanced around the room at the others all staring at mom with wide yet teary eyes. "That was… odd. All I remember is falling asleep."
Even her voice sounded young, just like she did in the prime of her life.
Her brow crinkled and then she looked up, pressing the back of her head into her pillows. "Oh." Dad chuckled as she glanced at her hand in his. Mom gasped and then pulled her hands out of his and Gohan's. She stared at her healthy, arthritis-free hands and then touched her newly young face next. She stared at dad, her lively dark eyes questioning.
Dad's soft smile broadened but as with Gohan, he remained tight lipped. Dad had his secrets sometimes.
"King Yemma is expecting her and you best not keep him waiting," said the short, squat Fortuneteller Baba from a corner of the room.
Fortuneteller Baba had a habit of that, slipping in and out without anyone sensing her arrival.
"Yeah, I know," said Dad without so much of a glance toward Baba. "We'll be up in a few minutes."
Perhaps it was that old fortuneteller who orchestrated dad's visit like last time.
I glanced at Gohan and his lips twitched up, perhaps having the same thought as me. Dad had explained the dead being allowed to visit the realm of the living was a very rare privilege granted only to heroes. If anyone deserved that privilege, dad did.
Dad stood and offered mom his hand. "Let's say goodbye to everyone while we still can." He glanced over his shoulder, toward Pan's family and at my daughters, too. "I have new grandkids to meet!"
Mom nodded, pulled the blanket off herself, and accepted his hand. Her ankle-length light purple nightgown had been replaced with a sleeveless light blue qipao with white pants and darker blue house shoes, the same style she wore my whole life. A lock of her long black-brown hair fell in front of her face. Mom grabbed it and lifted an eyebrow at dad. Her eyes narrowed. Uh oh.
Pink blossomed across dad's cheeks as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Heh, what? You know I like your hair long."
Mom giggled and stood from the bed like it was nothing, like she didn't need assistance with that simple task for most of the last couple of years. The ease with which she moved seemed to surprise her, too. She glanced down at her feet and bent double to touch her toes.
"Gosh, I haven't been able to do that in a long while," she said as she straightened.
"You're back in your prime now, babe." More softly, dad said, "You'll be like this for forever."
Mom led dad first to my girls. My daughters held each other even while being hugged by their mother. After murmured introductions, small smiles spread across their faces and they both stepped out of their embrace to wrap their arms around dad. Dad wrapped his arms around them, too. Despite both being almost as tall as Marron now, Dad hugged them so tight, he drew them right off their feet. Akina and Keiko laughed as dad set them on the floor. His hands lingered on their shoulders for a few extra moments.
"Ya know, you girls have your mother's eyes but your dad's smile. You got that from me," said dad with a laugh.
Akina and Keiko laughed despite the tears still rolling down their cheeks.
"So we've been told," replied Keiko with a sniffle.
"I can tell you two are super strong, too. Keep your dad on his toes for me, okay?" Dad beamed with pride. He always said he knew Marron and me would get married someday. I knew he'd love them, too. Dad and them would have made a great team. I chuckled to myself for the first time all day.
Akina nodded, wiping her nose. "Kay… thanks Grandpa!" She said and hugged him again, until Marron had to break them apart.
Mom stepped forward to hug my girls, too. That was one hug neither wanted to break, complete with lots of sniffles and tears all around. Keiko and Akina were so close to mom. The twins grew up on Mt. Paozu like Gohan and I did and Mt. Paozu just wouldn't feel the same without their grandmother. It wasn't going to be the same for Gohan or me, either.
Pan approached with her three young children in tow and Uub just behind them.
Dad pulled Pan in for a big hug, too while the kids lingered back. Dad put his hands on Pan's shoulders and grinned. "Just look at ya, Pan. You're Chichi's spittin' image!"
Pan let out a noise somewhere between a giggle and a sob. I chuckled, too.
"They really do look almost identical," said Gohan as he approached dad, mom, and Pan. "Especially now."
Dad laughed. I missed that sound. The wild spikes of dad's hair bobbed as he looked down at the three small kids hiding behind Pan's legs.
"Well, hi there!" said Dad. Though his back was to me, it wasn't hard to picture his bright smile, the same one he gave me when I first met him.
Just like Mom had when I first met Dad, Pan stepped aside and urged her kids to go meet their great-grandfather. The youngest was hardly more than a toddler and quickly darted behind his mother's leg again. Pan's only daughter ran to her great-grandfather first and dad scooped her up. "I'm Pumpa and I'm eight years old!"
The middle child pulled his baby brother out from behind Pan by the hand and led him to meet their great grandpa together. "I'm Jin! And this is Goku!"
"Goku, well, little Goku, definitely has your hair," said mom through a giggle.
Dad chuckled, too, and scooped the two little boys up with their sister. He wrapped his arms around them all, squeezing them to his chest.
"Can you stay with us?" asked Jin.
Dad shook his head. "I'm afraid I can't but maybe someday, great-grandma and I can come visit you. Would you like that?"
Jin nodded. "Yeah!"
Mom and dad hugged Marron and Uub and then came the part I was dreading the most: it was my turn to say goodbye to my parents. Mom and Dad wrapped their arms around me and I was delightfully sandwiched between them. Even with the hope of another earthside visit during my lifetime, goodbyes were hard. A large, painful lump formed in my throat. Tears stung my eyes. Mom wiped her thumb across my cheek and then reached for Gohan when he came to stand with us, too.
"Oh, my sweet boys," murmured mom.
Tears gathered in her eyes as she and dad hugged Gohan between them like they did me. Gohan's eyes grew glassy, too. I swore dad's were, too. They watched us and we watched them as her and dad vanished in little bubbles of light, almost like the fireflies that appeared on Mt. Paozu every summer. Even those little bubbles disappeared, too. I couldn't feel either of them anymore at all.
I smiled through the tears sliding down my cheeks. "They're finally together again. Forever."
Gohan's voice cracked as he said, "Yeah. And no one deserves it more."

"Daddy! Look at me!" yelled Goten from where he hovered several feet above the rippling water of the lake.
Chichi reflexively reached toward him. "Be care-!"
Goten tucked himself into a ball and dropped out of the air. He hit the calm water with a mighty splash. His waterlogged head popped out of the frothing water with a broad grin.
I patted Chichi knee. "He's fine, Chi." I cupped my hand around my mouth. "Pretty good, Goten!"
Gohan floated above the water where Goten had hovered moments before. "Hey, Goten! You better move!"
Goten glanced up and dove. He resurfaced a moment later closer to the rocky shore near Chichi and me and then Gohan—like Goten—tucked himself into a ball and let himself freefall. Gohan's splash dwarfed Goten's. I grimaced. Gohan's splash might actually reach us! Droplets of water splattered Chichi and me.
"Easy there, Gohan!" yelled Chichi as she smoothed her hair.
Gohan laughed. "Sorry about that, mom!"
Chichi shook her head but smiled.
I brushed a droplet of water off the tip of her nose. Chichi giggled.
"It's a good thing you've already got the fishing done because you boys would've scared them all away!" said Chichi as our waterlogged sons slogged ashore in only their boxers.
The boys and I laughed.
"You've got a point there, babe," I said.
The boys dried themselves with a quick burst of ki, pulled on dry pants, and flopped down next to Chichi and me on our family picnic blanket. Flat on his back and spread-eagled between Chichi and Gohan, Goten yawned. Chichi brushed her fingers through Goten's thick, dry hair as Gohan laid down, too.
"This is nice," said Gohan after a wide yawn.
"It sure is," said Chichi as she made herself comfortable between Goten and me. Chichi hummed. "Our first picnic as a family of four."
My heart swelled. I turned to my side and braced my elbow in the soft, thick comforter. I propped my head up on my hand and leaned to kiss Chichi's temple but she turned her head and caught me on my lips instead. I laughed lightly and went in for another as the warm breeze rustled the tall, soft grass around us. Life really didn't get better than a late afternoon nap with my family in the great outdoors of Mt. Paozu.

Autumn Love Part II
Day Two: Pumpkins
Goku giggled as he ran across the field. It was that time of year. The weather wasn’t so hot they sweated at night in their small home and it wasn’t too cold where they wore extra blankets to bed. It was Orange Head Season! It was a favorite time for Goku for Grandpa made his famous Orange Head Soup.
“Grandpa! Grandpa!” Goku pointed at the rows of round orange heads. “There are so many orange heads!”
“Yes, Goku, they are but I told you. They are not orange heads. They are pumpkins.”
Goku covered his hands over his mouth giggling again. He knew that but orange heads sounded better to him. “Oops. Sorry, Grandpa.”
The field was filled with large, orange healthy pumpkins. So many to choose from. Some were as small as acorn squash and some were as big as Goku who barely reached the old man’s thighs. “Now, let’s see,” Grandpa Gohan walked up a row judging the pumpkins and which one he should choose.
Goku was ahead of him. He wanted to pick the right one this year. It couldn’t be too small. It had to fill him after all and he had a bigger stomach than Grandpa. “Grandpa! What about this one?”
Grandpa Gohan chuckled at the pumpkin Goku wanted to pick. Leave it to Goku to think with his stomach and not his head. “That’s a big one, Goku.” Very big. Grandpa Gohan was concerned what this large pumpkin would do to his back. “I don’t know if I can pick it up.” He was still a sharp martial artist but his bones and strength weren’t as strong as they used to be and that was a very big pumpkin.
“Don’t worry, Grandpa.” Goku grabbed the pumpkin from its large round end and pulled.
“No, Goku,” Grandpa Gohan stopped him. “You should pull from the three vines attached to the stem.” He pointed at the three green veins attached to the green stem on top of the pumpkin. “Pull the vine from the stem so the stem doesn’t dry out. It’ll stay nice and green.”
“Okay, Grandpa!” Goku followed the simple instructions. When the pumpkin was free, Goku wrapped his arms around it but discovered his arms were too short. It didn’t reach half the size of the pumpkin but the boy with the furry tail didn’t let that stop him.
He might pull something but Grandpa Gohan wanted to help out. “Maybe I should….”
“I got it, Grandpa.” Goku crouched in front of the pumpkin. He reached behind, grabbed the pumpkin and pulled it forward so it leaned against his back. Goku got a good grip and pulled himself up. He smiled triumphantly he held the pumpkin against his back. “It’s bigger than me, Grandpa, but I can carry it.”
Grandpa Gohan chuckled with pride. “You are a very determined boy, Goku. Nothing can stop you when you set your mind on something.”
 “Will this be big enough?”
It was so big they might have leftovers. “It will. Now let’s return to Mount Paozu. There are many ingredients to gather before we can make Pumpkin Soup.”
Goku nodded and followed his grandpa. “Okay, but I think Orange Head Soup is better.”
****
“Here it is.” Goku was so happy to see this field again. It’s been many years. The last time he was here Grandpa was alive. Since his death, Goku hadn’t had the urge to see this field. It brought up many memories he wanted to suppress. He could’ve tried to make Grandpa’s soup but it wasn’t the same with him gone. Now with a wife, who was carrying their baby, Goku found the urge to visit this field again and make that soup.
“Wow.” ChiChi marveled at the field. When Goku told her about it, ChiChi expected a small plot. She didn’t expect a quarter-sized acre field of pumpkins. “You and your Grandpa came here every year for pumpkins?”
“Yup. There are so many. Sometimes we came once a week.”
ChiChi envisioned young Goku with his Grandpa, running the field like a carefree child. He spoke to her excitedly when he talked about this place. She knew it made him happy. She could only imagine the energy he had as a child. Probably like a child on Christmas. Goku talked a lot about Pumpkin Soup he and his Grandpa always had. He thought it would be good for her and their baby.
ChiChi rubbed her swelling stomach tenderly. It would be good for the baby ChiChi, decided. Very good because it’s something Goku wanted for them.
“How about this?” Goku pointed to a very large pumpkin.
The pumpkin was large. ChiChi guessed twenty pounds. It would be enough but Goku had a big appetite and with the child growing her, her appetite was growing, too.
“That’s fine for me and the baby but what are you gonna eat?”
Goku caught her sly smile and mirrored one of his own. He really liked ChiChi could eat like him now and knowing his child caused it and that child will eat like him when he’s born filled Goku with pride and happiness he couldn’t explain.
Goku remembered what his Grandpa taught him and removed the pumpkin from the stems. He selected another pumpkin around thirty pounds. He placed one pumpkin over his shoulder and the other in his left hand. “Let’s go.”
The pair walked off with their big catches. Seeing Goku carrying the large pumpkins stirred something in her. It nearly made ChiChi swoon whenever Goku showed off his strength. He was really excited and ChiChi was very intrigued by this soup. “What else did your Grandpa put in the soup?”
“Grandpa mixed water with an apple, root food and green plants from the ground and animal meat. Sometimes we mixed bear, tiger or fish in it. Then he cooked it over a fire. It was always yummy, even the green plants. I could never eat them but in Orange Head Soup,” Goku smiled lost in memory, “they were yummy.”
ChiChi suspected the root food and green plants were onions and kale leaves Goku showed her growing in the forests. A soup with onions and kale wouldn’t be enough but since Goku grew up with limited foods and knew nothing of seasoning, the mixture was appealing to him. In memory, it still will be but Goku’s appetite has changed. Now he knew of food with spices and seasoning. If he ate his grandpa’s soup without that, it would sour the memory of this soup with his precious Grandpa and ChiChi didn’t want that.
“I think we should add some more food,” ChiChi suggested. “It will make the Pumpkin Soup more appealing.”
Goku frowned. He wasn’t sure of that. “But it won’t be Grandpa’s soup.”
“It still will be. Just yummier.”
“Are you sure?” Goku was hesitant in changing Grandpa’s recipe. “Grandpa already made it really yummy.”
 “Trust me.”
It was something Goku often said to ChiChi when she was hesitant in doing something he wanted. In the end, ChiChi never had regrets. Goku decided to take that chance and trust ChiChi, too. He trusted his gut in marrying her. Trusting her making changes to Grandpa’s recipe would work out for them.
 He hoped.
  ****
When they were home, Goku and ChiChi worked on making his Grandpa’s Pumpkin Soup. Goku cut the top and removed it and the pumpkin seeds like he did as a kid. He cleaned the seeds and added seasoning them as ChiChi wanted. He cooked them over a fire in an old cast iron skillet he found in Grandpa’s hut.
ChiChi sauteed the onions with butter and mixed in seasoned breadcrumbs and flour. Those ingredients were new to Grandpa’s recipe. She poured that into the pumpkins and stirred in chicken broth which she substituted for the water. Lastly, she added cooked beef for the meat, cheese, and more seasoning with the kale to finish it off. ChiChi poured the mixture into her pumpkin while Goku added the rest of the mixture to his pumpkin.
Outside, ChiChi sat with Goku in front of the fire watching their pumpkin soup cook. Goku and ChiChi snacked on the toasted pumpkin seeds and drank pumpkin spice hot chocolate as they chatted and waited. This whole excursion was one of the few times Goku talked a lot about his Grandpa. ChiChi suspected it was a sensitive subject for him but with Goku being so open now, ChiChi took a chance to ask questions before Goku closed up again.
“Did you make this soup after your Grandpa died?”
For a long moment, Goku was quiet. Through the flames of the flickering fire, ChiChi saw sadness in Goku’s eyes. She regretted asking her question. “I didn’t mean to bring up bad memories. I know you love your Grandpa, Goku. I want to know him so I can love him like you and so we can tell our child about him.”
Goku popped more pumpkin seeds in his mouth and washed them down with his cocoa. He put his empty cup down and gazed at the stars in the sky. “I couldn’t go by that field after Grandpa died. It made me think about him a lot. When I think about Grandpa, I remember how much I miss him and how quiet it is here without him. I like the quiet,” Goku quickly said. “I’m used to it but it’s nice when it’s not so quiet…” Now he was looking at ChiChi. The tender look he gave her reminded ChiChi of several nights and some days during intimacy when he would stare at her and his eyes say what his mouth couldn’t. “Like now.”
He hated the loneliness. My sweet Goku. You’ll never be alone anymore. I promise.
Goku looked away from ChiChi to the fire. His hand reached hers and slowly closed around it. “I don’t know why but I felt like showing it to you. I don’t feel so bad anymore Grandpa ain’t there.”
ChiChi’s eyes became misty. Goku didn’t understand but ChiChi knew the reason. When she sniffed, Goku looked at her and panicked at her tears. “What did I do wrong? I wasn’t trying to make you sad, ChiChi.”
“You didn’t.” Silly man! “You made me happy.” ChiChi threw her arms around Goku and kissed him. As they kissed, their bodies were pressed together and Goku felt a light jab against his stomach. The kicking of their unborn child broke their kiss. “You made our baby happy, too.”
Goku smiled at ChiChi’s growing stomach. “You both make me happy. Do you think the baby will like it?”
“Let’s find out.” ChiChi noticed the bottom of their pumpkins turning a dark orange. She slipped on her oven mitts and pulled both pumpkins from the fire and placed them on plates. With a spoon, she stirred the mixture. “Smells good. Looks good.” She scooped a spoonful of soup, blew gently and placed it in Goku’s open mouth. She looked expectantly at her husband. “Well?”
Goku tasted and swallowed the savory mixture. The taste buds of his tongue danced with joy. He tasted all kinds of food from several people but something about ChiChi’s cooking made it better than anyone else’s cooking. “Wow! This tastes better than Grandpa’s!”
ChiChi ate from her pumpkin pleased. “We should eat this every year, Goku. We can go to the field with our children, pick our pumpkins and make Pumpkin Soup together.”
“I want that.” Goku liked that idea. It made him smile thinking of their child running through the pumpkin field and picking his pumpkin as he did with his Grandpa. “But it’s Orange Head Soup,” Goku corrected ChiChi.
“Goku,” ChiChi playfully tapped Goku’s forehead with her spoon. “This soup is good and I know it means a lot to you we make this soup, but I’m not calling it Orange Head Soup.”
 ****
“Wowwee! Look at the pumpkins, Momma! There are so many.”
ChiChi’s heart burst with pride watching five-year-old Goten run through the pumpkin field. He held the same exuberance as his Daddy. Seeing Goten’s excitement, made ChiChi feel Goku was with them carrying on the family tradition.
“Yes, it is, Goten.” ChiChi inhaled the fresh air. Another Fall, another start to a family tradition. “This field has grown pumpkins for years. It grew them when Gohan was a baby and it grew when your Daddy was your age.”
“Wow!” The child was in awe of this news. “That’s a long time ago, like a million years ago, Momma.”
ChiChi laughed. “Well, not that many years, but it’s been in the family for a long time, and as such, we have to continue the tradition and make your Great Grandpa’s famous soup. He taught Daddy. Daddy taught me and I’m gonna teach you and Gohan.”
“Yay!” Goten pumped a fist into the air. “I wanna pick my pumpkin.” He ran through the field again looking for his pumpkin.”
“Not too big, Goten,” Gohan warned. His little brother had Saiyan blood but he wasn’t that strong yet. Last year, Goten picked a pumpkin too big for his small body. He dropped it several times on the way home Gohan decided to carry it with his pumpkin and left ChiChi to carry her pumpkin.
“Let him pick.” ChiChi was confident last year’s mistake wouldn’t happen this time. “He’s bigger now and he’s determined like his Daddy.”
“This one, Momma. This is my pumpkin!”
ChiChi joined Goten and examined the pumpkin. It was half Goten’s size. “If you want it, gently break these three green veins near the stem of the pumpkin.”
“I know,” Goten remembered the instructions of his mother from last year. He gently broke the stems and picked up his pumpkin. He could hold it. Too bad Goten couldn’t see what was in front of him. “I can carry this home. Just tell me where to walk.”
Giggling at her determined son, ChiChi picked her pumpkin and  Gohan picked his. On her shoulder was a tote bag carrying the other ingredients Gohan and Goten helped her pick. “We got everything. Let’s go home and make Orange Head Soup.”
“Shouldn’t it be Pumpkin Soup, Momma?” Goten asked as he waddled behind her with his big brother following last to keep an eye on both.
“No, Goten.” ChiChi looked up at the sky knowing somewhere Goku is looking down on them. “It’s Orange Head Soup.”

Autumn Love
GoChi Fall Week 2022
Day One: Costumes
Shopping was an activity Goku could not understand. He didn’t understand the excitement some women, particularly his wife, got over going to a shop; trying on several clothes, and buying a few items only to go to another store and repeat the process.
But this shopping was different. They were shopping for Halloween clothes. Bulma invited them to a Halloween party she is hosting. It was a strange invite to ChiChi since the guests were people in Bulma’s West City circle: CEOs, heirs, heiresses, and celebrities of different forms of entertainment. ChiChi vowed to try mingling but knew it would be a struggle to keep Goku interested in guests he had nothing in common with.
That’s probably why Bulma invited us ChiChi mused. Vegeta will be at the party, too. During past conversations, Bulma mentioned the problems Vegeta caused. Goku would keep Vegeta in line and not fly off the handle. As for herself, ChiChi hoped to enjoy the party with people in different circles and thought the best way to break the ice was by wearing a great Halloween costume.
“I’ve read about these adult parties in the city,” ChiChi said as she perused through a rack of costumes. “It’s different from how we do things at Mount Paozu and my Dad’s village.”
Goku rubbed the back of his head confused. He didn’t like that idea. “How different?”
ChiChi placed a black dress over an arm. “Women's costumes are daring. They wear things more for bedroom activities than a party.”
“Bedroom? Do you mean like roleplay? What we do sometimes?”
ChiChi placed another dress on her arm. “Something like that.”
 “What about the men?”
ChiChi pulled a dress from the rack, flipped it from front to back, and placed it back on the rack. “Some are no different. Some dress in ancient warrior costumes that leaves their chest and most of the legs naked.”
As long as the costumes weren’t stuffy, Goku wouldn’t mind wearing that. “What should I wear?”
“Something that compliments us as a couple. Maybe Mistress of Evil for me and Dracula for you or the Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood.” With an arm full of costumes, ChiChi went over to the changing room. There was a TV, sofa and two other males waiting for their wives. “I’m gonna change into these.”
“I think you look great in them.”
“Goku,” ChiChi chuckled, “I haven’t put them on yet.”
“I know but I know you will look great in them.” She will but Goku thought complimenting will make ChiChi decide faster and they won’t be shopping for long. The last time they went shopping it was for five hours. ChiChi promised they wouldn’t be longer than two or three hours but even that was too much.
“We’ll see.” ChiChi patted the pile of dresses nervous. It was different from what she normally wore but thought the dresses were appropriate for the party they were attending.
ChiChi went inside the changing room and Goku took a seat with the other men.
“Smart move. Too bad it didn’t work,” a man at the end said.
Goku frowned confused. “What didn’t work?”
“Complimenting your wife and telling her she will look good in her costume before she comes out.” The man went back to watching the sports game on the TV. “My wife is trying on her fifth costume. It’s been two hours,” he groaned and Goku felt his pain. “Maybe this one will be a winner.”
“ChiChi always looks good in what she wears. I thought complimenting will make her decide faster. Shopping is boring.”
“Shopping with the wife sucks,” the man agreed but as for this guy’s wife looking good in her clothes, from what he saw, she looked frumpy. He couldn’t get a good look at her shape.
“She’s a bit of a plain Jane,” the second guy was blunt, “but there’s nothing wrong with that. My wife’s the same without makeup.”
“Plain Jane?” Were they talking about ChiChi? “My wife’s name is ChiChi.”
“Doesn’t that mean boobs?” the first guy couldn’t recall seeing them on ChiChi.
“Goku?” ChiChi called from the changing room’s entrance. “How about this?”
The two men sitting with Goku fell silent as one man’s mouth dropped and the other eyes nearly popped from his face. A sharp, confused eyebrow rose on Goku’s face. Why are they looking like that? Is ChiChi’s costume bad? Goku slowly turned to see what caused the men’s reaction and nearly fell out of his seat.
ChiChi wore a black, low-cut dress nearly exposing her full bosom. The dress hugged ChiChi’s body, accentuating the curves of her hips, tiny waist and appealing breasts. Side slits up both her thighs teased her slender yet muscular legs.
“Her name does match her boobs,” Goku heard one of the men say.
The other one grunted. “Mmm, those legs. That waist. Her breasts. No wonder he said she looks good in whatever she wears.”
They spoke too low for ChiChi to hear but Goku heard every word. It was a gut reaction but Goku didn’t like that. He liked it better when they thought ChiChi was unappealing, and if these two couldn’t take their eyes off his wife, how would the men at Bulma’s party react if she wore that dress?
Goku went to ChiChi blocking the men’s view of her. “It’s a Mistress of the Night costume.” ChiChi pulled the ribbon from her hair. Shaking her head, ChiChi’s dark hair fell enticing around her shoulders. “I think this costume works better with my hair down. I’ll have to buy the right eyeshadow and lipstick but….” ChiChi turned in a circle modeling her dress to Goku. He moved with her, hiding ChiChi from the men’s lewd view. “What do you think? Should I wear this to the party?”
“No!” Goku shook his head like a stubborn child. “No way!”
“No?” Goku’s aggressive rejection was surprising. Normally, he’d say ‘It looks great. Can we go?’ She never heard him say no to anything she wore. “What’s wrong with it?”
“It’s tight. It looks like you can’t breathe.”
“I can breathe and it looks tight because it shows everything but it feels comfortable. I worry about the heels of the shoes that go with this dress. I never liked thin heels. I always feel I am one step away from breaking my neck.”
“You got the legs for it!” One of the men called out to ChiChi.
“Hmm?” ChiChi looked past Goku at the two men. “Oh,” she didn’t expect that compliment. “Well, thank you.”
“My wife has chunky legs and wears stilettos like a pro. You’ll be fine. Your legs are like a model or a ballerina. Strong. Sexy. You can balance yourself on your tip toes.”
“Oh.” ChiChi was flattered. She knew her legs look good but a model's or a ballerina’s legs? Was that possible? ChiChi extended one leg giving the men a nice view and unwittingly annoying Goku with her flashiness. “I do work out. I do martial arts. I trained our son.”
The man at the end gave her the ‘okay’ symbol with his hand. “That hard work paid off.”
“Thank you!” ChiChi thought he was very nice. “Mr……?”
 “You can call me Ray.”
“Hugh!” the first guy Goku talked to introduced himself. He was bolder as he approached ChiChi. He extended his hand for ChiChi to shake while he got a closer look at ChiChi. “That dress looks perfect on you. I don’t think you need to try anything else.”
Goku slapped Hugh’s hand away. “Yes, she does!” He pushed Hugh aside and got in front of ChiChi. “You got other dresses to try on.”
“I do but I actually like this dress more. There’s the Red Riding Hood one but you have to wear the wolf costume. We did that years ago with Gohan and you complained about how itchy the costume was.”
“I won’t complain this time,” Goku promised. “I’ll love it.”
He says that now but ChiChi knew better. “I also have the princess dress. It’s a safe costume,” which was nice but ChiChi wanted to be different for once, “but that prince costume will be too stuffy for you and it’ll be a hassle getting that crown to stay on your head.”
“It won’t be stuffy and I can cut my hair so the crown fits.”
“Aww,” ChiChi caressed his cheek, “you’ll sweet wanting to do that for me, but no, Goku. I don’t want you to cut your cute hair for me. I’ll get this dress and you can be a vampire. It won’t be too much work. The pants and shirt will be loose and the cape will save you from wearing a coat jacket. You won’t be stuffy.”
“But… but…..” Goku wanted to protest but struggled with a reason for ChiChi to not wear this dress. “You got all those clothes to try on.”
“Wait. You want me to try on more clothes?” ChiChi touched Goku’s forehead. No. No fever. Perhaps, he was being generous or trying to cooperate since she treated him to a big lunch before they went shopping. “You’re so sweet for wanting to put up with my shopping. Consider this a lucky break, Goku. You don’t have to.”
“But…. but….” Stupid brain! It could think of ways to outwit monsters wanting to destroy the planet but came up short convincing his wife to not wear a sexy dress that will garner too much attention.
“I’m gonna change and we can get your costume and go home. Gohan will be shocked we finished shopping so soon.”
ChiChi turned to leave when Goku grabbed her hand. His brain finally worked to come up with a reason she does not wear this dress. “You shouldn’t listen to them. You told me guys say things to women for the wrong reason.”
ChiChi leaned to the right to look at the two men in question. They seem like nice gentlemen. They looked at her but weren’t lewd about it. They were also very complimentary. Though she liked how she looked, she thought the years passed for her to wear this dress. Their compliments assured her the years had not. “They were complimenting, Goku, and they are married. One looks old enough to be my Dad. It was an older gentlemen's compliment.”
She wouldn’t think that if she heard what they said around him. “But….”
ChiChi kissed his cheek. “You’re being protective but it’s not needed, and if you are worried about someone at the party saying something, you know I can handle myself and if not, then my big, strong handsome husband will have to set them straight.”
The twinkle in her eyes and the warm smile she gave him told Goku ChiChi was onto him. “You know.”
ChiChi gave him a sheepish smile. “I had a suspicion when you insisted I try on other costumes. You know you have my heart, Goku, but it’s flattering seeing you express passion for something besides fighting and food. I hardly see it and sometimes I…..” she paused as she pushed back the hurt she felt at Goku’s obliviousness towards her “… I wonder.”
Goku cupped a cheek. “You shouldn’t,” he spoke low and soft enough for ChiChi to hear. “You know how I feel.”
“I know. It’ll be nice to see it a little more.”
Now would be a good time. Goku knew it. Even though being expressive to ChiChi intimately in front of others wasn’t what he liked. But he saw the need in ChiChi’s eyes how she needed that moment now. It sadly changed to a resolution that wasn’t going to happen.
 Ah, why not!
He bent his dark head to ChiChi’s wide eyes and took her mouth in a tantalizing kiss that was warm, unhurried, and very pleasurable. He could feel the shock and restraint in ChiChi. She thought she had to control her feelings and not give back but a slip of his tongue inside her mouth told her to relax and give in.
And so she did, slipping her arms around his neck and kissing back with the love and need swelling. His alien tongue explored the secret places of her mouth as if it was his home. The longing he felt in ChiChi combined with his need to show her his love mixed with his big body molding against her softness aroused Goku’s desire to be alone with ChiChi without clothes and horizontal.
He suddenly pulled back. His breathing was slightly labored and his eyes tinged a shade of green.
“There’s a hotel nearby,” ChiChi suggested. “Since the boys aren’t expecting us back for another hour or two….”
Goku didn’t need to hear more. “Hurry.”
ChiChi quickly disappeared into the changing room.
Behind him, Goku heard chuckles. It was from the men. He turned his head to see their approvals. Maybe they were complimentary as ChiChi thought or maybe they were looking too hard at something they couldn’t touch, but they respected him and were right about ChiChi’s costume. It looked perfect on her and she didn’t need to try anything else.

Autumn Love III
Day Three: Cold
Growing up in a village where her castle was surrounded by fire for nearly ten years, changed the natural weather landscape of her father’s village. Even though the fire was finally put out, it was still unusually warm. ChiChi was used to warmer springs,  hot summers, mild falls, and winters. When ChiChi married Goku and moved to Mount Paozu, she experienced a culture weather shock.
It was shockingly cold when the weather should be warm. Perhaps it was the elevation of the area or the numerous rolling mountains that surrounded Mount Paozu but it was unusually cold to ChiChi. The summers were chilly compared to the sweltering summer heat she dealt with in her home kingdom. Some mornings ChiChi slept with a blanket or snuggled closer to her husband for extra warmth. He was an unusually warm man and the cold weather didn’t bother him. While ChiChi would be in a thick robe in the morning, Goku would walk around in his boxers and tank shirt. ChiChi thought it was only her but her father commented on the cooler weather, too. Her father was a big man with a little padding of fat mixed with his muscles but to hear him comment on the chilly weather made ChiChi relieved it wasn’t just her.
ChiChi adjusted to the weather wearing boots and thicker materials in her clothes. Their home was gifted with a furnace so ChiChi only worried about the coolness when she went outside. Trouble rose when a nasty storm passing by damaged the furnace. Parts were ordered but sadly wouldn’t arrive until a week. Until then, ChiChi had to brace against the cold.
ChiChi made soups, hot cocoa, and hot ciders to keep her warm. Sometimes she took extra-long hot showers. It warmed her temporarily but not enough to be satisfied. One morning was so cold ChiChi wore a coat in the house. This provoked her husband to finally speak on ChiChi’s problem.
 “You’re just like Grandpa.”
He said it with a laugh. ChiChi might’ve shrugged it off but being in a cold house for nearly a week made ChiChi irritable and Goku’s casual remark came off as an insult.
“What does that mean?” ChiChi questioned. “Are you calling me old?”
“No. Grandpa didn’t like the cold either. He always wore those heavy surcoats and smoked his pipe.”
ChiChi sipped her apple cider. “So, even as a kid, the weather didn’t bother you? Does the cold ever bother you?”
“It bothered me when I went to Muscle Tower in Jingle Village but that was really cold. There was thick snow everywhere and the wind was so cold. Here,” Goku shrugged, “it’s just warm. There’s no snow. I don’t understand how you are cold.”
“My Dad talked about it, too. Maybe we’re normal and you’re not.”
Goku laughed. “Yeah. I get that a lot.”
A tinge of guilt struck ChiChi. She didn’t mean to say that. She heard enough stories about what Goku’s friends thought of him. ChiChi didn’t want Goku to think she saw him that way. “Sorry,” she apologized. “I don’t like this cold. I’m not used to it. It was always warmer on Mount Frypan.”
“Maybe that means you are not the normal one,” he teased. “Your home was surrounded by fire for years. Your body got used to that.”
He had a point and it was something ChiChi theorized but that didn’t mean she wanted him to say it as fact. ChiChi stuck her tongue out at him as she made a face. “Don’t do that.”
 “Do what?”
“Sound too smart for your own good.” She smiled at him to let him know she was teasing. “I’m the brains in this marriage.”
Goku copied that smile as he approached. “You have a problem with that.”
ChiChi sipped more of her cider. “What problem?”
“You misjudge me. You did it at the tournament.”
ChiChi knew what Goku referred to but pretended to not know. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“Sure you do.” Goku stood in front of ChiChi. He placed both hands on each side of her and leaned forward causing ChiChi to lean against the counter. “You told me I am incredible and not the goofball you used to know. Why did you think I was a goofball? What did I do?”
“Oh, you know what you did.”
Goku looked completely sincere. “No, I don’t. It confused me when you said that. I picked you up, took you to Master Roshi’s back home, and got engaged and didn’t know it.”
“It was more than that. The pat-pat,” ChiChi reminded him. “You don’t think that was a goofball move?”
“No.” And to prove his point, Goku patted ChiChi between her legs. She wore thick pants. It didn’t have the same effect when he patted her iron bikini but that point got across. “I was showing you what I liked!”
“Oh, no you weren’t,” ChiChi giggled as she pushed his hand away.
“No,” Goku agreed as he took ChiChi’s mug from her hand and placed it on the counter. “But I do now.”
He was looking intently at her as if he wanted something badly. His looked caused her breath to quicken, her heart to stammer against her chest and blushing heat to creep up her face. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“You’ve been cold for days. I felt bad about it because it’s my home that’s making you cold.”
“It’s not.” The playfulness fell from ChiChi’s face. She was serious now. “It’s all right. It’s only until the parts are mailed and then Dad can fix the furnace and the house will be warm again. None of this is your fault. Don’t think that.”
Goku chewed his lower lip nervously. She was right but he still felt at fault. “I guess not but I do know a way to help you with this cold.”
 “What’s that?”
Securing an arm around ChiChi, Goku pulled her against him and lower his face until their lips met. ChiChi’s eyes closed as she became wrapped in the heat of Goku’s body transferring to hers, intoxicated by his strong, manly scent as his tongue caressed her mouth requesting ChiChi to open up to him. ChiChi did so and nearly swooned at the possession of his lips and tongue in her mouth. As his hands slid to her hips, ChiChi’s went up into Goku’s hair.
Watching him at the tournament, ChiChi picked up Goku was a quick learner in fighting. She hoped but was surprised at how quickly Goku picked up matters of intimacy. She also learned in the short time they’ve been together, Goku was a quick learner in what he applied himself to, and whatever he liked learning whether it was martial arts or intimacy, he mastered it and she reaped the benefits.
Deeper and deeper, ChiChi fell under his prowess. Her breasts rose and fell against his chest; his hot breath fanning her skin tickled and heated her body from her face to the secret place between her legs. The kiss went on as their chest and hips rubbed together inciting friction that spread intense heat through their bodies until a rapid knock from the door forced them to part.
“ChiChi! Goku! Are you home?” It was Gyumao. “I have the parts. It came early.”
“Guess you don’t have to worry about that cold anymore but next time it happens,” Goku gave her another quick kiss before he left to answer the door. “I’ll take care of it.”
Goku greeted her Dad as he stepped into her home. She smiled in greeting as she wondered what she could do to make it cold again.
