Ep 14 with Jason not so in nutshell
There's a meeting where we learn that someone has to take a folder with documents to Goldreamz. No one wants to do it. Although Roy volunteers, he also states that he doesn't give a damn. After the meeting, we have lunch and go back to work. Brune notices that we don't feel well. We ignore it because there's no way we're sick. We wake up in the morning and, yes, we do feel terrible. We go to work, where Brune again notices that we look like zombies. We go to the pharmacy to get some medicine. It works so well on us that we become hyperactive. In an act of wild action, we decide to take the folder to Goldreamz. Danica tells us that Jason isn't here - he's sick. So we, as not sick at all, not horny at all for the guy, decide to take it to his apartment ourselves. Jason looks like a crazy, scatterbrained monkey (hotter than ever). He doesn't want to let us in because he's sick after all. We don't care, we go in anyway. Jason notices that we're sick but we say "oh come on, dude, everything's fine" (it's not fine at all). They check each other's temperatures, they both have fevers, amazing. They start talking about whether they would do it if they didn't work at their companies. Su says that Jason should sell hot dogs? Cool girl, you only think about wieners. He doesn't want to work like that because he'll stink like a fryer. JJ lies down on Su's lap, she thinks about her career outside of Devon's company. She wants to make mousses? Ok girl, go for it. While Jason is asleep we leave the apartment and want to go back to the company. Before we go in we feel so bad that we run onto the bus and write a message saying that we won't be coming back to work. After reaching home we go to sleep. We wake up the next morning - we got fever from Jason, who would have thought? We spend some time with Taki, generally doing nothing except lying on our butts and watching TV or TikTok. On the second day of our illness we get an unexpected call from Jason that he is feeling well and will be at our house in 5 minutes with lunch. We go crazy because we stink and we are in pajamas, and the potential guy of our life will come to watch us when we look like a hobo. Jason gives us food. At some point he gets shocked, because there's a goose, turkey or whatever it is in our living room. The guy will be taken away by ambulance soon, his condition is critical. Jason and Taki hate each other, just like in the case of our Su, I expect an enemies to lovers relationship between him and the goose. Due to our fever, Jason suggests that we take a bath. At the same time, he explains to our silly Su how to wash. Thank you for this information. He also offers to help us with the bath. We agree to this. Unfortunately, we feel faint and almost fall. Fortunately, our superhero catches us in time and jumps into the tub with us. After everything, he leaves the apartment and we go to bed.
To be honest, this is the best episode with Jason. Interesting interactions, beautiful illustration and above all, he doesn't appear for the last 5 minutes. And Jason behaves like a human being. Unreal.

After Playing Trump, Sebastian Stan Got Himself a Swoopy Heartthrob Haircut
Let The Apprentice star’s flowing locks be the blueprint for your next cut.
By Mahalia Chang
Tumblr media
Whether you're in the process of growing out your hair or it's just settled into a rut, all guys know the pang of your hair feeling blah. Maybe Sebastian Stan does, too!
Or did, at least. Over the course of his press tour for The Apprentice—a film in which he was unfortunately stuck with Donald Trump's goose nest of a combover—Stan has helpfully modeled a fix for any and all cut boredom: add a little movement and Hollywood via some volume, length and movement in the front.
For Stan, his current cut combines some ultra-long pieces towards the front of his hair, graduating to the back, and some short sides. At the BFI London Film Festival on Tuesday, Stan gave us yet another glimpse at this excellent hair.
Tumblr media
Stan has been rocking this particular flavor for some time now. Earlier appearances have seen it pushed back from the face in a more classic interpretation of the style, but for the last few, the 42-year-old has been letting it all hang out front.
The key is in those longer pieces. Stan’s stylist has done a good job creating volume, by working a mousse or a styling cream into the roots to add lift during its being dried (if we had to guess, via a blow dryer as the hair is brushed up and away from the root with a rounded brush). And then, each of those longer pieces are styled rakishly on either side, swapping a clean parting down the centre for something a little more devil-may-care. The combination of the volume at the roots and the styling over it over the part (AKA not on the natural side of the part that it's growing from) means that the way it falls over his face is fun and not too try-hard.
It's a little ’50s movie star, and a little ’90s Brad Pitt at the height of his hair powers. It has movement and height, but it doesn’t feel “done,” and it looks even better when you run your hands through it, and reset everything.
Tumblr media
As it goes, this is a haircut that works remarkably well for anyone in the process of growing out their hair. While you let that front and back grow, keep the sides neatly trimmed and tucked behind your ears, until you’re ready for it to be cut into its final form.
Or, just leave it as is. As they say, if it works for Sebastian Stan…

To preface: Iseul and Megan’s relationship is making me sad, so I switched to my favorite comfort couple, Riley and Stephanie. 😊
It's spring in Mt. Komorebi, and also love day. Although Riley's romantic with their wife Stephanie year round, they go into extra sappy mode on the heart-themed holiday and want to go all out for her. They change into some everyday clothes, consisting of a tank top with a woman riding a pink pony and jeans, and apply some mousse to their hair before floofing it. They take one last look at themselves in the mirror and head out of their room and to the living room.
Stephanie's cleaning the stove, and she grins as she eyes them. Riley goes over, taking her hands in theirs. "Hey baby," they say. "Hey Ri, nice tank top," Stephanie says, the beautiful brown eyes that Riley fell in love with sparkling mischievously. "Yeah. Ru gifted it to me and I wanted to wear something pink so I went with this. It’s pretty cute." Riley says. “It is for sure and you look very cute too.” Stephanie says and Riley grins mischievously this time. They lean in and goose Stephanie, making her gasp in surprise. “Riley Takamura!” She says in a playful whisper, looking around to make sure their kids aren’t nearby to see. “I’m sorry Steph, your butt looks so good in those jeans that I had to.” They say and she grins. “Fair enough, these are my butt sculpt jeans.” She says as Riley laughs.
Riley’s eyes soften as they look at Stephanie, and they take out a tulip to gift to her. Stephanie takes it, blushing a bit as Riley’s lips turn up into a smile. “I love it, Ri, thanks.” She says softly, and Riley pulls her in for a kiss. “Later, once the kids are distracted, I want to give you something in our room. Something I think you’d like a lot, and that we both can use on each other,” Stephanie murmurs into their ear and Riley flushes, swallowing hard. “I’d like that a lot, Steph.” They say with a grin, winking at her.

Wings of Home – Chapter Seven: Call Signs and Chocolate
The sun over Miramar blazed like a spotlight on center stage, but it was nothing compared to the spotlight on the Kazansky-Mitchell household that morning.
Today was Ace and Nikola’s sixth birthday.
Call signs: Blaze and Icestorm.
Status: Local legends.
The entire backyard had transformed into an airshow-meets-fairytale extravaganza, and at the heart of it all was a colossal cake—crafted lovingly in the kitchen of The Charming Goose, Carole Bradshaw’s pride and joy.
The cake was epic.
Four tiers of rich chocolate cake layered with whipped strawberry mousse, enrobed in glossy ganache, and decorated in swooping pastel pinks and greens. Carole had worked for two days straight with help from her café crew and Viper (who insisted on frosting clouds), but every detail was worth it.
The top was split down the middle: one side glittered with fondant fighter jets, princess crowns, and binary code strips, curling elegantly around Nikola’s side. Her sugar figurine, complete with a flight suit and tiara, stood at attention in front of a laptop with the words Icestorm Protocol Engaged piped in icing.
The other side was Ace’s dream—football helmets, jet blueprints, and rocket schematics, with a sugar version of him in a pilot’s jumpsuit holding a tiny model of a fifth-gen stealth fighter.
“Best cake I’ve ever made,” Carole declared, brushing frosting from her sleeve. “And the only one that might cause a sugar-based international incident.”
Goose leaned over, stealing a spoonful of ganache. “It’s beautiful, babe. Like... actually intimidating.”
Across the yard, Bradley Bradshaw was straightening his collar while Jake “Hangman” Seresin checked his reflection in the mirror for the fourth time.
“I can’t believe I’m this nervous,” Jake muttered.
“You’re meeting two six-year-olds and their fifty closest admirals,” Bradley teased.
“That’s exactly why I’m nervous,” Jake said. “Your dad co-owns a warbird restoration empire. Your other dad might be the next Secretary of the Navy. Iceman was the youngest COMPACFLT in history. Hollywood and Wolfman are power-couple Admirals. I’m a guy with a toothpick problem.”
Bradley crossed the room, wrapped his arms around him. “You’re also the guy who flew cover for me during Black Ice. Who pulled me out of the drink when my wing was shredded. Who’s great with kids and the only one Icestorm thinks is cool enough to wear pink.”
Jake smiled slightly. “She does have good taste.”
“She made you a badge,” Bradley added, pulling a ribbon from the nightstand. It read: ‘Certified Awesome – Uncle Jake, Cleared for Takeoff’.
Jake blinked. “She made me cry. I haven’t even gotten there yet.”
Bradley just grinned and kissed him.
By noon, the backyard was a blur of music, running kids, drone obstacle courses, and jet flybys organized by Goose and Maverick through Need for Speed Solutions. Fighter-shaped kites soared overhead while streamers whipped around wind turbines that powered a working model airfield Ace built for fun.
Nikola—Icestorm—was holding a birthday scepter and directing drone traffic using a hacked flight control interface. Her command tent was an actual radar station scavenged from a decommissioned Navy jet, courtesy of Maverick.
Ace—Blaze—had organized a “mini Top Gun” tournament where kids had to solve engineering puzzles and pass simulated G-force tests to earn their pilot wings (temporary tattoos, of course).
Hollywood and Wolfman, dressed in casual whites, manned the snack station.
“Want a wing-shaped cookie?” Wolfman offered to a tiny guest.
“No thanks,” she replied. “I only eat gluten-free MREs.”
Hollywood just blinked. “Why are these kids scarier than SEALs?”
Meanwhile, Maverick and Iceman made the rounds, proud and glowing, stopping to take photos with every family—especially the ones who wanted a shot with two of the most iconic names in Navy aviation.
Then Nikola and Ace stood on stage, flanked by their dads and a giant blow-up F-18.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone,” Nikola said into the mic, her voice strong and confident. “And to remind you all that next year we’ll have real jet engines.”
Ace added, “And by then we’ll have figured out the math for our first test flight.”
The crowd cheered. Goose wiped a tear. Carole clapped the loudest.
As the cake was wheeled out, Jake found himself standing beside Viper, who clapped a hand on his shoulder.
“You must be Hangman.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Relax. You’re part of the family now,” Viper said warmly. “And don’t worry. The last time I met a nervous young pilot, he turned out to be the heart of this whole damn crew.”
Jake looked toward Bradley, who was carrying plates and laughing with Maverick.
“Yeah,” Jake said quietly. “I get that now.”
As the kids screamed in delight at the cake reveal and Maverick pulled Iceman into a slow kiss beside the flames of the birthday candles, Jake knew one thing for sure:
This wasn’t just a birthday party.
It was a mission accomplished.

Dear Saturday,
It's good to see you again. I don't know how many of you I have left, but remission's holding steady. I'll have my results in two weeks, and if I'm still negative it will be 11 months. I've been a little busier than usual. My day job and the paid gig, plus that kidney stone took a whack at me.
On the Money
The paid gig is panning out, and I just handed in the last one for the year. They're happy with my work, but OMFG I am never writing porn in fandom again.
In talking with a friend, I compared it to my summer job in my hometown ice cream shop. It sounds like a dream job until you actually do it. I didn't touch ice cream again until my mid-twenties. Besides, this is writing to spec, I get very little say in the content and have to stick to the outline. Think of it as working in an ice cream shop and never getting to eat a flavor you like, but are instead served nothing but banana splits made with rum raisin, bubblegum, and tutti frutti ice cream, topped with crushed maraschino cherries. The company's given up on AI completely so far as written content, it's just unworkable with results either laughable, incomprehensible, or appalling.
Do they even make rum raisin ice cream any longer?
In any case, between last year and this year, my medical expenses out of pocket are $35,000. That's with donations. I've been lucky that my boss supported me by paying my rent for six months and I had a load of unused PTO. I need to stuff that back into savings stat, and my PPO premiums are going up by $100 this year. I need five more novels to get even, then three more to cover my premiums for the year. I also want to cover my out-of-pocket, up to $9k from $7k. My paycheck needs to cover basics, and I do not want to tap savings more than strictly necessary.
In the Kitchen
It's Thanksgiving this coming Thursday, and it's one I did not expect to see. I didn't do holidays last year. I laid in bed with my incisions and ileostomy bag, and I slept. Today was cooking day, and I've had a busy morning 5-cheese tortellini with peas and mushrooms. Roasted Italian sausages. Also made egg-roll-inna-bowl. My Thanksgiving menu is duck leg and thigh confit, with a Caesar salad, wild rice and mushroom soup, potatoes roasted in duck fat, and pumpkin mousse.
If you like duck and have a sous vide, making duck or goose confit is easy. Put the leg-and-thigh in a sous vide or ziplock bag with salt, pepper, garlic powder, PSR&T and sous vide for at least 12 hours. Duck and goose have enough fat that you don't need to add much additional fat, and that yummy fat is great for roasting the potatoes. The longer you cook it, the more tender the meat. Take it out and run under the broiler to crisp it up.
Horizontally
The housework and cooking done, it's cool, grey, and raining. I've made the couch into a nest, partly claimed by the kitties. It's time to read and drink peppermint hot chocolate. I've been reading Susan Gulbar's 'Memoir of a Debulked Woman' and have Patrick Keefe's 'Empire of Pain' queued. Aside from Thrawn and Star Wars in general, my tastes run to nonfiction, I have a lot of Thrantovember catching up to so, but... bed so soft, kitties so enticing, and books awaiting me.

Day 2 in Florence
This morning everyone did their own thing for a bit.
After breakfast, I took my binoculars and walked to a bridge over the Arno (the river that goes through Florence) to spend about a half hour birdwatching.
The fun thing about birdwatching on a different continent is that even the commonest birds are new. I saw:
a gray heron (apparently they don't have great blue herons here)
several yellow-legged gulls
a hooded crow
an egret that I think was a little egret, which is the most common kind around here but still new to me.
3 common wood-pigeons
an Egyptian goose, which... let me put it this way: when it flew past, my first thought was "big, weird-ass duck"
I heard something Merlin claimed was a Eurasian blackcap, but I couldn't spot it so didn't report it on the eBird list.
I saw a number of swallows, swifts, and/or martins. Some were swooping low over the water, and some were flying very high overhead, so I imagine there were at least two different species, but I couldn't get a good enough look to identify them. Some were probably Common Swifts and some were probably not. But I couldn't be sure so I didn't report these either.
After that, I met up with the in-laws and we wandered a bit, visiting a couple of random churches and eventually grabbing a snack in a cafe. Wife eventually caught up with us; we got a small gelato (pistachio and strawberry, in my case) and then went to the Leonardo da Vinci museum, which was pretty cool. They had built the various things he had sketched in his notebooks, and some of the exhibits were interactive.
Then Wife and I were hungry for lunch, but the in-laws weren't (it was 2:15pm!!!), so we split up again. We ordered far too much food. I had a giant salad (too hot for hot food) which included cheese, almonds, and roasted vegetables. Then we did a little shopping before coming back to the hotel for a break. I saw some Italian Sparrows--they look similar to house sparrows, but not quite the same.
We started a laundry at the flat where the in-laws are staying, as the heat means we are going through clothing rather quickly. We then went out for an aperitivo followed by a delicious pizza dinner. For dessert I had the pistachio semifreddo (sort of a mousse), which was very yummy! And then we hung the laundry before returning to the hotel. It's hot enough that the clothes should dry before we need to pack them tomorrow night.

‘He hasn’t heard a word I’ve said all night…’
The dark haired woman thought to herself as she primly picked at her dessert, a vanilla raspberry mousse of some sort at one of New York’s swankiest upscale new restaurants. This meal had already cost her, the fact that he was using her own earned funds to cover their anniversary meal irked her. She noticed she’d also paid for a trip to Le Perla and Cartier but she knew that she would never see either of those gifts. They were most certainly going to that petite blonde that was supposedly Dave’s personal trainer, Kelly. One could say that there were many things about her husband that irked her these days, especially on the day of their eleventh year together.
‘Kelly with a fucking I.’
Colleen seethed as she set down her dessert spoon and fought the urge to throw her Chablis directly into his smug good looking face. She loved and hated him in the very same heartbeat and she hated herself even more for still loving him.
“You’re still wearing that ruby…”
He remarked as he signed the bill and left a generous cash tip, no doubt pulled from the account before he had headed home from the office in Century City. Colleen Sullivan was the result of ten years spent swept up in the glitz and glamour of the City of Angels thanks to an up and coming ( back then ) blue eyed sandy haired drummer with a devilish smile and a voice that made her feel calm. That would last for the first seven years and then it would vanish in a cloud of smoke after her third miscarriage that had cost her an east coast tour. He hadn’t even bothered to come visit her in the hospital and she ended up having to ask her body guard to sign her out of the hospital because Dave had forgotten; he'd been much too busy trying to negotiate another tour for her to make up for the last loss.
Hugh Standish had been a great man and taken it all in stride his deep rolling Yorkshire voice making her smile for the first time in days. He’d even held her hand when she’d been in pain, something Sully never had done for her.  He had gifted her a rambunctiously adorable little blue puppy that he'd told her came from a buddy that worked for a German hard rock band. Colleen took quickly to the little pup that seemingly grew every time she looked at him and named him Goose, as his young bark sounded like a honk. Dave hated the poor thing the moment he set eyes on him and then had Hugh relocated to the Pasadena property to oversee day to day security. Colleen spent most of her time there these days with Goose, something she noticed made David Richard Sullivan very bitter and distant. It was easier to do what she had to do this was. Let him hate her, she already hated herself enough for the both of them. Without Dave she never would have met Hugh and that hurt. So she hated him and thanked him and once again thought about the conversation with Hugh while she was hospitalized. Their first in depth talk before they were together.
“I’m thinking you’re just his caged songbird, Miss Delaney. Even got you marked with a pretty bauble.”
“I suppose you’re right, Mr. Standish…and call me Mary.”
“Mary? Only if you call me Hugh."
“ Colleen is my middle name. Stage name. But, yes, deal.”
“Was your first gift to me. Our third Christmas together..we were still living in San Fernando.”
She didn’t bother to finish the sentence.
‘Back when you actually loved me and not the money my talent can bring in.’
“I’ve laid down all the vocals for Visions left the arrangements for the strings and guitar sections…but…I still need you to lay down some drums on track eight.”
Offering him a small cold smile that didn’t reach her blue eyes as she flicked her long dark hair over her shoulder. Her black turtleneck kept the October chill away from her throat as the bell sleeves added extra warmth and something for her to grip to keep from punching him. She’d changed out the thin silver chain for a longer more substantial Spanish silver braid to keep the natural solid silver backed ruby into place.  She’d also somehow taken to lighting a menthol cigarette. Poised between two long slender fingers tipped with brick red tapered almond nails Colleen gently puffed and stared him directly in the eye.
“I’m going to the mountains for a bit. I need some time alone to recharge and work on some new material. Spend some time with Goose..”
Studying her for a moment It was like reason had hit him squarely between the eyes. Reaching for the hand that was still on the table top he noted that she still wore her wedding set. That surprised him, truthfully as he’d lost his own band years ago. He felt a pang at the mention of Colleen’s prized and pampered canine companion. An imported German blue Weimaraner named Goose. That damn dog was a telepathic moose of a hound and part of Dave loathed the dog as it had won over Colleen’s entire heart and now their was no room for him. Just the damn dog and all those babies she’d lost. Grief and canine love. Both made his head swim and blood boil.
‘Maybe she doesn’t ever take it off.’
“You’d rather spend time with that mutt than your own husband?”
Her hand was ice cold and baby smooth under his own heavily calloused  nicotine stained musician’s hand. Colleen slowly pulled her hand away from his and fiddled with her rings for a moment. She was taking them off. The while gold Loveland style 1 carat set was sitting directly in front of him winking at him ominously in the low candlelight.
“You can’t be serious, Colleen.”
“I am. I need time to myself. Please."
She gathered her black peacoat and her leather shoulder bag and left for the hired car to take her back to their beachside modern construction that wasn’t even a year old yet. Long gone was that dinky little apartment with the shared back yard in the Valley.
He watched her leave her long dark hair caught in the sea breeze as a storm rolled in. He ordered another whiskey sour and then a triple before he asked the hostess, a rather pretty little redhead named Tiffany if she’d like to call him a cab so he could head home. He told the driver to take a detour to head over to Kelli’s but as soon as they pulled up he noticed that her little white cabriolet was gone for a weekend with her girlfriends in Lake Tahoe. There went the itch and the pretty little distractions from his life that was in shambles around his feet.
“Headed home, Casanova?”
The cab driver named Jackie drawled in a New York accent.
“Yeah…yeah..”
“Ain’t you that guy…in that band?”
The cabby enquired after nearly thirty minutes of driving.
“Yeah…Mystic Highway…”
A grin spread across the transplants face as he no doubt picturing Colleen’s spread from 1974’s issue of La Femme. A tasteful topless pose with her made to look like Eve in the garden of Eden. They’d just married and he thought she’d been the most beautiful woman on earth. There on the cover featured heavily was the infamous ruby necklace. His gift to her that was to become part of her signature look. Who’d have thought that stupid last minute gift for her, the natural carnelian red hued  heart shaped rock encased in sterling silver would become a huge symbol? Not him. Often imitated by fans with glass beads and wire or from wishlists sent to their parents. Sully had just cashed in on the idea and ensured that Colleen had signed a  vastly lucrative deal with Friedman’s Jewelers - a staple chain jewelry store in damn near every American and Canadian mall.
‘She’s still wearing the ruby…she’s still wearing the ruby…”
It almost had become the calming mantra in his head as he watched the street signs grow more and more spaced out and gaps in the neighborhood reached blocks.
“Colleen Murphy.”
“Yeah….She’s a stone cold fox.”
A wry smile crept up Sully’s lips.
“She’d be honored to know that.”
‘It’s been years since I’ve said that to her…’
“Press the buzzer on the gates. Go on up to the front of the house..please.”
Dave wasn’t quite ready to face the long walk home through Colleen’s personal garden of eden that was the front walk up to the house. Nearly two miles of growth complete with hidden oasis pools and koi pond and walled hidden garden made Dave nervous. Tonight it felt more and more like The Shining, which ironically was one of her favorite scary movies.
“Had the same feeling with my girl left me. She was…my everything but I wasn’t good to her.”
Thrusting a handful of bills toward the driver the car barely came to a stop before Dave was out and the door slammed before he walked up the vast sweeping terracotta tiled steps.
No barks from inside from Goose. A flickering 1 on the answering machine’s blindingly red digital display. The house was silent as a tomb a single light left on in the master bedroom upstairs. Down the airy hallway painted in shades of cool lilac and hyacinth the pastel barely dawn pink walls were illuminated by soft yellow light from the overhead track lighting.
“She’s still wearing the ruby….”
Her entire closet was empty. Her vanity was empty and Goose’s blanket and favorite stuffed pig toy were also missing. A heart shaped hole in the plaster caught his eye along with the stack of receipts. He studied them noticing that they were all for gifts he’d bought Kelli from the slush account he’d had an accountant set up without Colleen’s knowledge or so he’d thought. At the foot of the hole in the wall was their framed wedding photo from 1969. She looked like a fairy queen in her snow white dress with a Celtic knot design. Her large eyes smiling innocently into his own smiling face as she slipped the long lost wedding bang  onto his finger. A single note lay on the bed with instructions to play the message on the answering machine. Pressing play on the line in the bedroom Dave caught a glint of silver on the bedside table on what was once her preferred side of the bed.
“Mr. Sullivan this is Jeremy Groves, Miss Delaney’s legal council provided on her behalf from Reflex Records…There’s been a petition for divorce filed today as of 3:45PM. Please stop by my office on Laguna and Hollis next Tuesday to sign a few forms. Oh…and we’ll need you to vacate the Hacienda Boulevard property referred to as Shang Gri La as it’s Miss Delaney’s family property. We’ll have you set up at the Venice property by next week with your belongings.”
Another beat of his heart and he realized that his comfortable little world was crumbling around him.
“Oh and need I remind you that you signed a prenuptial agreement, Mr. Sullivan? So you leave with nothing.”
That glint of red and silver was heart shaped and looked awfully heavy when it wasn’t kept afloat by a beautifully creamy white swan neck or vibrating with the power of her singing voice.
“But you’re also still contractually obligated to preform on the Visions album track eight...I believe. So we’ll expect those track tapes two weeks from this coming. Have a good evening, Mr. Sullivan.”
“She’s not wearing the ruby…”
Was all Dave Sullivan could utter.

Alcohol and Umami: Why Craft Brewers Are Falling In Love With Champagne Yeast
Alcohol and Umami: Why Craft Brewers Are Falling In Love With Champagne YeastCouple of drinks note a memorable event rather like the pop of Sparkling wine. Beers fermented with Sparkling wine yeast, however, come quite close. There are even more than 5,000 breweries in the nation, beers made with Sparkling wine yeast are reasonably uncommon. Price Beer, the crowdsourced beer-ranking web site, details just 180 beers made with Sparkling wine yeast.Sparkling wine yeast can take an or else plain mixture and also include some umami that brings everything with each other, Quinn Fuechsl, a maker at Goose Island, informs me. Also individuals that do not such as beer like our Sparkling wine yeast beers. When done right, a beer made with Sparkling wine yeast differs any kind of various other. When done incorrect, it s undrinkable. The role of sparkling wine yeast in canned beerSparkling wine yeast has a comparable result on beer as it does on a glass of wine. There are a couple of various type of industrial Sparkling wine yeast: Pasteur rapidly ferments in winter, Epernay comes from France and also has a somewhat slow-moving fermentation procedure, and also Prise de Mousse can ferment energize to 18 percent alcohol by quantity.Conventional beer yeast, both ale and also ale, can produce beers approximately around 10 percent alcohol by quantity. That number can be greater or reduced relying on the particular stress; yet as a whole, Sparkling wine yeast produces a much more powerful drink whether it s fermenting beer wort or grape juice.Contrasted to the lavish, succulent sweet taste of ale as well as brew yeasts, Sparkling wine yeast produces a desert-dry feeling. For wonderful beers as well as ciders that can be a favorable, however it can destroy a currently completely dry beer. The procedure (of making a beer with Sparkling wine yeast) begins with the traditional developing procedure, Thomas De Moor, the head maker at the Malheur brewery in Belgium, informed Breand n Kearney from Belgian Smaak. To make the brewery s 3 Champagne-style beers, they begin with ales they currently have. After developing, the top-fermented ale is put right into Champagne-style containers for a second fermentation, De Moor claimed. This can take anywhere in between 3 months and also a year. Afterwards, they prepare for the Sparkling wine therapy. The therapy is m thode Champenoise, the conventional procedure that specifies Sparkling wine red wines. The containers are passed on a duration of a pair weeks up until the head of the container is dealing with downward and also all the yeast comes under the neck of the beer. The neck is after that icy and also the icy yeast piece is secured of the container.M thode Champenoise is costly, as well as not all breweries do it. Leaving energetic Sparkling wine yeast in the container, nonetheless, can trigger a container to blow up due to the really energetic carbonation that Sparkling wine yeast is recognized for.Makers have in their middle a beer that can stand up to any type of great white wine-- and also might transform a beer-adverse enthusiast right into a beer fan when it s done right.Sparkling yeast beerA saison with light white pepper notes and also a mild honey sweet taste. Dry like a champagne, with simply sufficient wine-barrel aging to include intricacy.Brooklyn Brewery Black OpsA stout matured in bourbon barrels and also refermented with Sparkling wine yeast. There are coffee, vanilla and also delicious chocolate notes from the barrel, however it s obtained an abundant carbonation as well as high alcohol by quantity that make it perfect for maturing as well as for relishing.Transmitter Developing OH1A pilsner partnership with Partner Developing Firm, OH1 is crisp, tidy, and also wonderfully revitalizing. It s bottle-conditioned with Sparkling wine yeast, providing it lively carbonation that will certainly make you leap to take one more sip. There are even more than 5,000 breweries in the nation, beers m

Valentine's Day Lunch at JAAN By Kirk Westaway
It has been almost 2 years since our last visit to JAAN by Kirk Westaway so my wife and I are excited to visit the restaurant for our special Valentine's Day lunch to find out how the restaurant has evolved since its major renovations.
Four delicious appetizers welcomed us at our table, with Chickpea Cracker, Fish & Chips, Goose Mousse, and Cheddar Pancake. It is a melody of sweet and savory flavors that tantalize our tastebuds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next is our favorite Charred Leek and Potato Soup which is so good that we are planning to try our best to replicate it at home.
Tumblr media
Before the start of the mains, the customary bread service arrives and it is one of the best bakes that you will ever enjoy at a fine dining restaurant in Singapore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
White Beetroot starts us off on the mains, and it is a remarkable balance of flavors and texture that is hard to put into words. All I can say is remarkable, truly remarkable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next is another one of our favorites, Hen's Egg, with minor modifications to make it even better than the last one that we had.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moving into the meat section of the lunch menu, we have the Wild Seabass and the Berkshire Pork. Both are spectacular dishes with every single component working its magic. There is nothing that I would change on the plate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transitioning into the dessert section, we have our Earl Grey as the pre-dessert palate cleanser, and a choice of Pear or Chocolate for the main dessert. Each of the dessert is not to be missed, and I would recommend a beverage pairing of Coffee with Pear and Tea with Chocolate for contrasting flavor profiles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly, we have four sweets to send us off on a satisfying note. You might be feeling quite full right now but do not miss out on these treats!

Overall, JAAN by Kirk Westaway is worthy of its Michelin Star and accolades, with attentive service, warm deco with a cozy atmosphere, and a delicious menu that is comforting and homely. In fact, it is the type of cuisine that you could enjoy with friends and family at any occasion, which is exactly the vision that the Executive Chef is trying to achieve.
Would I return again and again? A resounding yes, and in fact, my wife and I are planning to make it our annual Valentine's Day tradition to enjoy a sumptuous lunch at JAAN by Kirk Westaway.
Looking forward to our next visit in 2025!

BTW chicken pâté is not the same as foie gras. Both are a liver mousse, but unlike the inhumane force feeding that ducks and geese under go to produce foie gras, chicken pâté is made using healthy, lean chicken liver which is combined with fats such as butter during the actual cooking of the pâté.
Pâté in general is actually far more humane than foie gras, as it is typically made with pork liver, which does not need to be force fed. Leaner meats can also be used, and pork fat or butter is usually added to these to prevent the pâté from drying out in the oven.
Not as controversial, but still interesting enough to mention, is terrine. Terrine is generally made from more than just liver, containing things such as minced pork hock, lamb leg, duck breast, etc.
In conclusion: Terrine is a meat loaf. Pâté is a meat loaf made from liver. Foie gras is pâté made from force fed goose or duck liver. Terrine and pâté are typically humane, foie gras is not.
