HUMMMMMM
What about Links to Zelda’s point of view of pre relationship after calamity BOTW, where everybody and their brother (AND SISTER) is in love with Zelda and hits on her, she’s oblivious of course because, yknow super in love with Link.
Every place they travel to post calamity, poor links cheeks STAY clenched.
Thanks for the prompt, @raziasark! I have been very slow, so I decided to post this one in installments. This first one is about 1100 words. I hope you enjoy the beginning and I'll try to be less slow 😂
Thanks @newtsnaturethings for bouncing ideas back and forth with me!
---
The Princess Vibe
At first, Link didn’t notice. He had a lot to deal with, and he was disoriented. Who could blame him? He’d just shot a giant purple boar on magenta-fire with magical golden arrows which somehow emerged from his soul while riding Geranium (who had somehow materialized in Hyrule field despite Link knowing for a fact when he last left him, he was happily munching hay at Riverside Stable).
Zelda’s arms around him were even more disorienting.
“Thank you, Link. Thank you,” she said, over and over like someone still half-dreaming, her voice muffled against his shoulder.
He held her firm, but so, so careful—she deserved every ounce of support he had in him, but she was his Princess, half-remembered and half an ethereal vision from his life before. Was it real? Was she real? Did he love her? He thought he did, but nowhere in all those glimpses of his past life had he said or done anything about it.
He could be imagining things, especially if they were in the past.
His head could be coping with all that secondhand drama.
Past-him might’ve just been doing his duty.
Past-her might’ve expected him to do his duty, too, and that was it.
Now-her might be glad he finally finished his duty, but that’s all.
Zelda shook like a dry, crackling leaf against him.
Link stroked her hair without thinking. He winced, waiting for an objection, but she just kept thanking him. He swallowed the taste of malice-fire, acrid and sulfurous in his dry throat.
She was free for the first time in a hundred years. She deserved that freedom. He wouldn’t foist his own feelings on her.
Later, he found himself wishing everyone else would see it that way.
--
They arrived, filthy and exhausted, at Riverside Stable.
“Huh?!” Ember said, his mouth agape as they approached on the unmistakable giant horse. “When’d you take him out?”
“Snuck him out like a thief in the night, eh?!” Gotter said, squinting at Link. “Why didn’t you ask us like normal?”
Zelda’d been half-dozing against him in the saddle, but her head rose at that. “Indeed not. I teleported him.”
“You-“
“What?!”
“I apologize for any inconvenience,” she said.
They stared at her.
As Link dealt with Ember and the logistics of re-boarding the horse, Gotter seemed unable to stop staring at Zelda, who’d sunk onto a stool to rest.
“Eh- do you- teleport often?” the portly stablehand asked in a strange tone of voice.
“Only recently,” Zelda replied.
“O- oh. I see, so- eh-“ Gotter wrung his hands and took a step closer to her. “What kind of things have you- tried?”
“Only Link and that horse.”
“Oh! You can teleport people?!”
“Not anymore,” she said.
“Eh? Why not?”
“I suppose it must be due to my renewed corporeality.”
Gotter scratched his head with a befuddled squint.
Link finished exchanging rupees just in time to see Zelda listing sideways. He rushed over, thinking to scoop her up, but she hugged his leg instead.
“Thank you,” she said.
He blinked. “You’re welcome.” He rubbed the back of his neck and looked up to see a sort of intense vacancy on Gotter’s face, totally fixed on Zelda.
Link hadn’t planned on staying there overnight anyway, but it gave him the creeps. He whipped out the Sheikah Slate. “Ready?” He asked.
Her face turned up, her eyes glazed and smeared face pale. “For what?”
“Let’s get you somewhere to rest.”
“Oh! Oh, there are beds here!” Gotter said.
Zelda started pulling herself up with Link’s thigh as anchorage. He helped her. Gotter reached out a hand, then pulled it back with an odd little…
Giggle?
“Oh- you have it, haha,” Gotter said.
Link had enough of the weirdness. “Ready?” he asked again as her arms wrapped around his neck. At her nod, he reached around her shoulders and tapped the icon for the Myahm Agana Shrine.
He adored her little gasp by his ear as the blue energy shivered through them. It was lucky, really—he could pass his own shiver off as that, instead.
--
They spent days just recuperating.
Zelda slumped onto a seat at his table as soon as they walked in, but he didn’t let her stay there. He carried her to his bed, deposited her there, and took her sandals off for her—she was already asleep.
He wrapped the comforter around her, grabbed a bedroll, and laid it out on the floor beside her. (This, it turned out, was unwise, since she stepped directly on his bladder about two hours later when she awakened to empty her own).
That incident aside, they each slept the rest of the night and morning away. Link awakened to the gentle pat of Zelda’s fingers on his cheek, and he turned to find her hanging partway off the bed to reach him.
“Where do you get your drinking water?” she asked.
Link was up like a shot and trotting to the well around back for her. He drew three hot baths that day, too—two for Zelda and one for him.
Time passed in a complete haze while they got used to being rested, clean, fed, and safe again. Link kept startling with this sudden feeling he’d forgotten to do something important—a false sense of urgency, leftover signals rattling around his nervous system (except on that first day, after Zelda’s first bath, when he realized with horror the only women’s clothing he had was his vai outfit, and he would feel like a monumental ass if he offered her that, so he offered his typical day clothes instead and that was worse—the way she looked coming out of the bathhouse with his undershirt and—shorts?!).
“Oh, uh,” he'd said with a nervous tremor in his voice. “Yeah, so those are undershorts, the pants are-“
“Too tight, I’m afraid,” she’d said with a furious blush (Link felt awful for embarrassing her), “around my- ah- posterior.”
Link had started to sweat as he feverishly searched his brain for the meaning of the word “posterior," which he knew he knew when his internal monologue wasn't screaming.
“Perhaps,” she’d said, “you could spare those Sheikah tights instead? They ought to stretch.”
“Oh! Sure,” he’d said, extremely happy for the excuse to escape any potential revelation of his temporarily-depleted vocabulary.
He later had a small moment of enlightened panic when he realized how she must’ve known about his tights (“every step” of his journey? Every single one?!).
There were quite a few other small panic attacks involved in not looking at all, not one little bit, at how those tights fit her. Eyes up, straight out at all times, absolutely no looking anywhere below neck-level at Zelda. None.
But apart from those things, his jumpiness was nothing but leftovers.
At first.

[To be continued! Not sure how long this will be, but clearly a multi-installment fic!]

Day 90: The Sage of Lightning, and Hyrule Castle
Done it. The final lock. But beyond the door… a literal trial by fire. Nothing for it. I have to jump.
Tumblr media
Then it's just a flick of a switch for Riju to join me. And we're done.
Now, back to that mechanism. Power on, it takes us up. The hatch opens. We're through.
Tumblr media
Riju notices a dim light - it has to be her secret stone, her destiny as a Sage. But there's a huge gibdo hive up here too. And I don't think we've seen the last of the Queen.
We fire up at the hive. And the Queen emerges.
Tumblr media
We engage.
Twice, I'm nearly a goner. We'd be entirely doomed if not for Riju's lightning. But we defeat the Queen. Her red presence is replaced by gentle golden light - and the secret stone is revealed.
Tumblr media
Riju's secret stone.
Tumblr media
We enter that familiar dream space, and meet the Sage of Lightning.
Tumblr media
It's worth hearing the tale of the Imprisoning War over again for another glimpse of Zelda in the distant past. This is her true self - always thinking of others. Not this strange shade that keeps appearing.
Tumblr media
Riju accepts her destiny, and I her aid, with pride and honour. The Demon King may have originated from the Gerudo, but they have only ever been my loyal allies. There's something of Urbosa about Riju as she commands the Sage's avatar to me so deftly.
Tumblr media
I can't help but notice, as her ring takes its place on my finger, that one finger on Rauru's hand is still unclaimed. I wonder… there were six Sages.  We only have four.
Tumblr media
Riju and I head back to Gerudo Town. She thanks me for my aid, and her soldiers salute - a far cry from the days I was escorted out for being a Voe.
Buliara suggests I return to Lookout Landing. I should. Purah will be expecting me.
The sky is clear above Gerudo Town again, and people are once again above ground. The kids play in the street. The road is clear to the oasis. All is right again, in this little pocket of the world.
Tumblr media
But my work isn't over yet. I return to Purah.
She's not on her usual platform. Hmm. Buliara is, though - hardest working Gerudo I ever met - and I ask her where Purah is. Apparently she's “above”. She, Offrak, Muzu and Harth are all staring at the Castle, but I can't see anything.
I climb up to Purah's telescope to find her. But then - a Blood Moon?? In the middle of the day?
Tumblr media
The sky reddens quickly, and a chill races up my spine. Purah spots something through the telescope - Zelda??
Tumblr media
It can't be. Not after all this. And she disappears as quickly as she emerged. That's what the doppelganger does, every time.
Purah urges me to investigate. I will. But not with any expectation that here, finally, I'll be able to rescue my Princess.
I need to stock up before I head out - food and weapons. I should be prepared for a fight.
It's been weeks since I was at Rito Village, but I mention their bridge to Karson all the same, while I'm here. Maybe he can still be useful to them.
Everyone's peering up at the Castle, trying to catch a glimpse of the Princess. I hate it. It's not her. But there's no point trying to tell them. I just need to deal with it.
In the bunker, Gralens says there have been sightings of huge Beasts. But he doesn't want to add to my burdens. That makes one person in Hyrule, at least.
I don't think there's a cooking fire at Lookout Landing, so I nip to Riverside Stable to cook up some supplies there.
While I'm there, I see a dragon in the sunset. Farosh? It's hard to tell at this distance.
Tumblr media
I turn to head back to Lookout Landing, and spy Penn! Surrounded by some little bird informants. As the rain sets in, he tells me the Stable chef has been waiting for some friends to arrive, but there's been no sign of them. Apparently they were coming to share a recipe from Princess Zelda.
The chef, Gotter, confirms the story. Agus and the rest were supposed to come across Owlan Bridge to the south, but there's no sign of them. Gotter's been watching the bridge for a while - it seems that Agus has been something of a mentor to him.
I agree with him that it's not a good sign - but I need to get back to the castle, not chase after more of Penn's wild geese.
It's late evening by the time I get back. As I launch from Lookout Landing Skyview Tower, a Blood Moon rises.
Tumblr media
But as I glide across to the castle, something about being in its proximity seems to negate the Blood Moon? It's past midnight, and still no sign. What force could be more powerful than the Blood Moon?
The weather shifts abruptly into a rumbling storm, lightning flashing across the sky. As I land, I hear Zelda's voice - but there's something off about her tone. She's waiting for me.
I search for her.

fic prompt: epilogue botw-pre totk Link and Zelda starting a cooking show in front of a live audience
“Thank you for joining us once again on Hyrule Kitchen! We’ll close tonight’s episode with an elimination round.” Aurie Taamu flashed a smile at the cheering studio audience before returning his attention to the camera. “We’re jumping right back into the action with the grand reveal of our two chefs’ creations on the theme of ‘Cool Treats for a Hot Summer.’ Chef Link, what have you got for us on this sultry summer evening?”
“I’ve prepared curry rice, a summer favorite in my hometown,” Link announced as he lifted the lid from his dish to reveal a plate of smooth amber curry paired with glistening white rice. “I added fresh apples for sweetness, and it’s so spicy that the heat will be the last thing on your mind. I hope you enjoy this taste of Hateno Village.”
The first judge, a restaurant critic from the fashionable Riverside District named Gotter, sat behind a half-empty plate of Link’s curry. “The spice is lovely, and I can taste the freshness of the apples in the render,” he said, “but it’s evident that the dish was prepared with ready-made roux. It aims for a flavor that would more properly be brought out with time. I give it a six.”
The second judge, a bestselling travel writer named Beedle, hadn’t left a single grain of rice on his plate. “I appreciate the pumpkin you’ve added to the curry,” he said. “It’s a welcome bit of texture, but far from sufficient. After sweating all day, I want sustenance, not delicacy. Without carrots or potatoes, the curry feels meager. I give it a four.”
“And with that, Chef Link receives a commendable ten points. For those watching at home, please check our website for Link’s apple and pumpkin curry recipe. Now we turn to Chef Zelda. What have you prepared for us?”
“Well, sir, I read your Notes on Cooking in the Wild when I was young, and it made a big impression. Inspired by your work, I’ve whipped up banana crêpes with chocolate, fresh cream, and a special ingredient – smotherwing butterflies!”
Zelda beamed as she extended a crêpe to the center camera, which zoomed in to capture the detail of a glistening black wing nestled next to the chocolate garnish.
“That’s certainly a surprise! And might I say, what a marvelous idea. Smotherwing butterfly essence is indeed a panacea for intense heat. What do our judges think?”
Gotter’s face seemed somewhat green. “While I admire your choice of unusual ingredients,” he began, “a few drops of essence would have sufficed. I would never have guessed that anyone would mix actual insects into the cream. It’s not inedible, but the thought of eating bugs is difficult to stomach. I must regret that I’ll have to give this concoction a one.”
Beedle, on the other hand, was overjoyed. “Marvelous!” he cheered. “Wonderful! Fantastic! What a bold stroke of genius to dice the butterfly into the cream. The crunchy texture adds an evocative originality to a simple dish. I felt like I’d stopped on the road across the Akkala plains to watch the butterflies on the mountainside meadows. Delicious! I give it a nine.”
“What a surprise, folks!” Aurie Taamu crowed. “The elimination contest has ended in a draw. It looks like both Chef Link and Chef Zelda will continue to the next round. I know I speak for all of us when I say that I hope they’ll continue to learn from each other, and I can’t wait to see what they create in future episodes. As always, keep checking our website and socials for news and recipes! Who knows, perhaps we can persuade Chef Zelda to share some tips on unusual ways to use traditional ingredients!
“That’s all for tonight, but I’ll see you all again on the next episode of Hyrule Kitchen!”
.
“The live audience responded well to the tied score,” Aurie Taamu explained. He glanced at the executive producer, who frowned as he watched a replay of the footage. Being alone with the producer in the upstairs recording booth put him on edge, and he found himself losing his usual cool.
“No one wanted to eliminate either of them, of course,” he continued. “We think this initial confrontation will add a spark of drama to pairing them together later. But perhaps you had other plans? I realize now that I should have consulted you first.”
“No, you have the right of it,” Ganondorf replied. “Those children are our top audience draws, though I can’t for the life of me understand why. Their choice of dishes was uninspired, and their recipes are basic. Neither of them used seasonal ingredients, and their preparation was sloppy. They didn’t clean after themselves as they worked. I’d be surprised if they washed their hands. Their only talent is their enthusiasm.
“Regardless. I just made an arrangement with our Hebra affiliate. The next challenge needs to include salmon. Keep it subtle, but make it happen.”
“Understood.” In his relief to be dismissed, Aurie Taamu was struck by a bolt of inspiration. “You know, sir, the two of them should compete against you at the end of the season.”
A sinister grin spread across Ganondorf's face at the suggestion. “Maybe they will, one day. If they make it that far.”
