people love to use ffxiii’s messy development as a reason to completely shit on the game but honestly the fact they managed to sneak in so many little details in the gameplay in a way that reflects the characters and story despite all the miscommunication between the dev sections is just impressive to me
#was xiii horribly planned out and missed out on a lot of important feedback because of the poor time management? absolutely#does that mean you cant be impressed with what the game achieved regardless of whether you liked it or not? fuck no#also the fact theres next to no bugs (not counting the pc port because... yeah) is amazing all things considered#and the graphics still hold up to this day#the linearity is everyones main issue with the game but look at x dude#x was linear as hell too but it makes sense bc yuna had a pilgrimage to follow#just as how it makes sense for the xiii cast to not have time to stop and explore cocoon while they were being hunted by the government#thats why you have so much more freedom to explore when youre on pulse#theres not even anything objectively wrong with having a game be linear in the first place#and the people complaining about the story being ''incoherent'' are just... wrong?#they give you enough hints within the dialogue to piece the story together yourself while also not leaning on exposition dumps to tell it#and if you cant do that then the datalogs are right THERE#games have relied on ''notes'' to tell parts of their story for ages now and i dont understand why its suddenly bad when xiii does it#i dont like sitting through exposition dumps and i like being able to analyse and theorize about a plot WHILE im experiencing it#and a lot of other people feel the same way so its not an objectively bad aspect of the game's storytelling#you just need to pay attention and be patient and wait for the story to unfold#i went off the rails but ANYWAY#aki stfu#final fantasy xiii

one thing i am obsessed with is the assertion that the current situation is all the result of iran’s careful machinations when they quite literally were not involved in this attack per even us intelligence. like actually conspiracy levels of nonsense. israel has been slaughtering palestinians like no tomorrow this entire time and have been getting more and more brazen for a while now. settler violence reached a fever pitch last year. israel is not “forced” to bombard and totally siege a civilian population. they choose to do so. over and over again they choose to do so. the state itself atp is a violation of international law and the UN had said as much over and over and it does not matter because the palestinians do not matter to the most powerful forces in the international community

#i think the problem is palestinian activists keep calling for a strike (a withholding labour strike) but activists in the west are aware#this is a non-starter and cannot realistically happen widely enough- in a way i kind of respect that they are thinking past this#but honestly can striking EVER achieve goals without it being based in a specific workplace/group of workplaces in a group context?#sidenote i actually remember some leftists on here talking about how a US-wide strike would be able to stop trump going into office#but they were already dismissing it as impossible...a little defeatist but realistic#i feel like witholding labour for better pay or conditions from your workplace makes sense in the way that#witholding labour to call for a ceasefire in another country does not#but as realistically most people can't do it i genuinely think its really fucked up that people are being encouraged to just post instead#at least write to your MP or call your representative! i recommend. Personally. watching international court cases and being in a removed part of your brain fucking terrified and horrified while you try and remain focused on the facts in the front of your mind so that you can know what the fuck is going on. and then letting that stew to make a list of things you find suspicious or dubious. also recommend then watching a bunch of philosophy all night and going hm fair point and well no i don't think that's true. and then doing the writing three pages thing your good friend suggested to you. and knowing your own naivete intimately. and then i recommend grabbing the a3 newsprint block so that you may make some inconsequential art. which inevitably will help you think. and then i recommend writing again to find out what you think. happy monday guys

you know I was feeling a little bit of “should I be ashamed?” about myself for not sticking with 1 job for more than 2 years (a combination of circumstances, the fields I’ve worked in, mergers, etc) and not having a Career but then I remembered that in the process of my skipping around I have on two occasions doubled my prior salary (not an exaggeration) so like
#cyborg lifeblogging#money#I’ve also downgraded sometimes#cuz I tend to take whatever comes my way that seems tolerable#also to be fair I started at just above minimum wage tier lol so doubling was not an insane achievement#but#god that one job when I was doing the exact same thing as two years prior#and salary negotiation came up and they tried to get a number out of me and I was like hmm quote me something you think is fair :)#and the moment the quoted a number that was legitimately Double what I had been paid before for basically the Same shit#that moment when I maintained a poker face was my best acting yet#the urge to go ‘DUDE’ was so powerful man#but I was just like. ‘hmm that seems like the right ball park’#on god never ever let them get you to quote the number first#and then after they quote the first number haggle up#for salaried positions. it costs them money to do interviews and shit by the time they are giving you an offer#they Want you. they’ll probably give another five or ten grand per year#especially!! for skilled work#I’m not really good at negotiating tbh but when I’ve done it it’s been so worth it#like it depends on the field (government work is a different story)#(shit is locked on a pre determined pay scale)#(and hourly work tends to be more rigid)#but anyway
