Yesterday was a historic severe weather day from the Eastern Plains to the Midwest. Unfortunately, it was also a deadly one with killer tornadoes in Indiana and Ohio.
From a science perspective, a lot about yesterday is going to be worth studying, but the fact that (as of this writing) we have had 98 reports of significant (giant) hail across multiple states in one day is very notable.
Here are some of the large hail reports across multiple states:
5.25” – 1 mile south of Ada, OK
4.5” – 1 mile south of Ada, OK
4” – 4 miles west of Sulphur Springs, AR
4” – Nortonville, IL
3” – Bloomville, OH
3” – 1 mile east of Livingston, IL
3” – 2 miles east of O’Fallon, MO
2.75” – 2 miles east of Bartonville, TX
2.75” – 2 miles southeast of Greentown, IN
2.75” – Gravette, AR

Hi, any fics based on manifest series? Like one dissapears for long time but gets back like not time passed for him? Thank you!
Hi, anon! So unfortunately I don't think there are any fics based on that series. However, I do know two fics that have that similar idea to it...if anyone knows more like this, let us know and I'll add to this!
You Turned Up (Like a Friend of Mine) by @lululawrence
Louis padded downstairs, feeling incredibly thirsty. He filled up a glass of water and was about to take a drink when a loud knock sounded at the door accompanied by some yelling and ringing of the doorbell.
“What the hell?” Louis muttered, setting his glass on the counter and rushing towards the door.
As he got closer to the door, though, his mind stopped whirling because the voice was one that was etched forever in his mind, but one that he never thought he would ever hear again.
“Why’s the door locked? Did you seriously go without me? And who’s car is in the driveway? Lou, I knew you’d be late to get me. We’re going to miss-”
Louis whipped the door open, sure that he was just imagining things. There was no way…
Except there was. Standing on the front step was the curly haired, boy-faced Harry Louis had last seen ten years ago today.
Or the one where Harry disappears on graduation day only to show up on Louis' door looking exactly the same ten years later. Through a series of strange events, maybe they can finally figure out that they're destined to be together, no matter what.
Stories we already told by josephinecc
2005, Greentown (UK) Louis Tomlinson is heartbroken when his wife dies from cancer. He can't go on anymore after losing the love of his life, that's what he thinks while he drives his car into the water of the lake where they had their first kiss. Surprisingly, he survives. At first, he thinks he's hallucinating because he's rescued by Harry Styles, a young man that he knows for sure went missing a year before Louis was born.

eido is divided into various towns decided by color, such as Bluetown, Greentown, Redtown and Goldtown. This does not merely apply to the road itself, but also to houses and huts in the area as well. Seido is also home to gemstones, such as the Green Gems, Gold Nuggets, Fire Opals, and Winterstones. Each gem shares the same color of the town they are located and vary in value and rarity. Because of Seido's strict policies, the realm is often at war.

He turned and glanced at her one more time. The event of last night played before him in a flash and he shivered.
The feeling was different now. Last night he was engulfed with passion and had done the unimaginable with this strange lady. He had promised her his assets and even his life if she could only allow him to slide in.
She did without hesitation.
Kingsley shook his head. He had failed his mother again. He promised her never to go back to his lifestyle. Oh! Pastor Peter will be disappointed. He thought about the prospect of being watched in a camera by his pastor. He felt guilty.
He tapped her. She smiled and opened her eyes as if she have been waiting for it.
“I think you should be going!”, he said avoiding her eyes.
“Oh no! you haven’t fulfilled your promise yet”, she said smiling seductively.
What promise? he asked.
“The land at Allen. You promised to give it to me”, she said.
This hit him hard. He knew he had made a terrible mistake.
“I don’t want to argue with you, young lady. Pick your bag and leave my house besides I have paid you”, he shouted.
“Don’t ever shout at me! she commanded. And for the first time in the past 18 hours, Kingsley noticed she has a devilish look. He froze.
“I did not cajoled you into saying that. You promised me that yourself. I’m not greedy you know… you talk about your mansion in Blueworld, your business in Greentown and other numerous properties. I’m just asking for the land in Allen. Give it to me. You said you will”, she said without any smile on her face.
“Who did you think you are? How dare you come into my house to command me you cheap slut! Kingsley thundered and dragged her out of his room. He commanded his security to throw her out of his house.
“Can you imagine? was all Kingsley kept muttering to himself as he prepare for work.
————————————————————————-
Kingsley returned from work exhausted. He collapsed on his bed, yawning. He was too busy at the office to go for his lunch break. Three days ago he had granted his Cook a week leave, so he has to cook. He was still contemplating on what to cook when he fell asleep. He was awakened by a noise from his closet. He stood up, stretching himself. When he opened the closet. He found an old radio inside. He was surprised.
“How did this get in here? he muttered to himself. He wondered if his domestic staffs were tampering with his properties.
Just like a flash. The radio started playing an ominous music accompanied by a deep scary voice.
“The land at Allen! The land at Allen!! Kingsley threw down the device and made for his door but it was locked. He knew it was not locked by him. He shouted for help but his voice was only a whisper.
“Fulfill your promise! Give me the land at Allen! the voice continued.
He felt an invincible hands on his throat trying to sniff the life out of him. His eyes popped out from his sockets and he struggled for breath.
“I will…I will…please don’t kill me, he sputtered.
The door to his bathroom swung open. The mysterious lady he brought to his house few days ago came out walking seductively.
She laughed hysterically.
Kingsley struggled to shout but his voice was just like the whisper of the wind.
She stood in front of his closet and look deep into his eyes stretching forth her hands for the papers.
Kingsley wept. The documents of the land at Allen was hidden away in his closet because it remains his favourite asset because of the place in which it was situated.
He wept bitterly because he has failed his mother.
He has failed his late father who toiled everyday to give him a better life.
More painful is the fact that he has failed himself.

Carmel, IN Occasional Upkeep Tips for Spray Foam Roofing

Spray foam roofing is one of the best choices for durability, insulation, and energy efficiency. However, like any other type of roof, spray foam roofs require occasional maintenance to ensure long-lasting performance and an extended lifespan. This guide provides essential maintenance tips tailored for residents in Kokomo, Greentown, Russiaville, and other nearby cities.
Why Maintain Spray Foam Roofs?
Spray foam roofing can endure extreme weather conditions, but neglecting regular maintenance can turn small issues into costly repairs. Proper upkeep ensures early detection of potential problems, preserves energy efficiency, and safeguards your property against weather-related damage.
Seasonal Maintenance Tips for Spray Foam Roofs
Spring Maintenance Tips
Regular Inspection at the Start of Rainy Season
Spring is the perfect time to inspect your spray foam roof thoroughly. With the onset of rainy seasons, ensuring your roof is in excellent condition can prevent costly water damage.
Clear Cleaning and Debris Removal:
Remove leaves, branches, and soil from the roof.
Debris accumulation in drainage systems can cause water buildup, leading to damage.
Inspect for Winter Damage:
Freeze and thaw cycles during Indiana’s winters can cause cracks or peeling.
Pay close attention to seams and edges, as these areas are more susceptible to stress.
Spring Preparations for Rain
Clean Drains and Gutters:
Remove leaves and debris from gutters to prevent waterlogging during heavy rains.
Evaluate Protective Coatings:
Inspect UV-resistant coatings for any signs of wear.
Reapply coatings if necessary to ensure the roof remains protected against the sun.
Summer Maintenance Tips
Protect Against UV Damage
Summer in Kokomo and surrounding areas can bring intense heat. High temperatures can stress spray foam roofs, potentially causing them to expand and form cracks.
Inspect Reflective Coatings:
Check if the UV-resistant layer is intact.
Apply new coatings if faded or damaged to maintain insulation efficiency.
Monitor Signs of Heat Stress:
Look for swelling or small cracks caused by prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
Professional Maintenance for Summer
Collaborate with a local professional to perform a mid-year inspection. This ensures any hidden issues are identified and resolved, allowing your roof to withstand summer’s demands.
Fall Maintenance Tips
Prepare for Falling Leaves and Cooler Weather
As autumn approaches, falling leaves and cooler temperatures can introduce unique challenges for spray foam roofs. Proper preparation ensures your roof is ready for the winter season.
Clean Drainage Systems Regularly:
Clear out leaves and debris from gutters and drains to prevent water accumulation.
Proper drainage prevents leaks and other damage.
Inspect for Penetrations and Cracks:
Storms and falling branches can cause punctures.
Address any damage promptly to maintain the roof’s integrity.
Strengthen the Roof for Winter
Repair Cracks and Apply Protective Layers:
Seal any cracks and reinforce weak spots to withstand snow and ice damage.
Ensure Proper Drainage:
Clear waste systems to prevent ice dams, which can cause significant structural damage.
Winter Maintenance Tips
Manage Heavy Snowfall
Winters in Kokomo and surrounding areas often bring heavy snowfall, which can add considerable weight to your spray foam roof.
Check Snow Accumulation:
Remove excess snow to prevent stress on the spray foam system.
Inspect After Hailstorms
Winter storms can bring hail and strong winds. Post-storm inspections are critical to identify any damage.
Check for Signs of Damage:
Look for cracks or dents caused by hail or ice.
Address issues immediately to prevent further deterioration.
Benefits of Routine Inspections
Routine inspections every six months can identify small issues before they escalate. Regular monitoring not only extends the lifespan of your spray foam roof but also helps maintain its energy efficiency and durability.
Work with Professionals
Local contractors understand Indiana’s unique climatic challenges. Partnering with experienced professionals ensures your roof receives the specialized care it needs to handle seasonal demands.
Track Maintenance Activities
Keeping records of inspections, repairs, and upgrades can be invaluable. It helps monitor your roof’s condition and provides essential information for warranty claims if needed.
Enhancing Performance Through Proactive Care
Spray foam roofs offer unparalleled benefits when properly maintained. Proactive care ensures homeowners in Kokomo, Noblesville, Tipton, Bonus, Peru, and Logansport can maximize their roof’s performance and durability against seasonal challenges.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. How often should I inspect a spray foam roof?
You should inspect your spray foam roof at least twice a year, ideally in spring and fall, and after any significant weather events.
2. Can I clean a spray foam roof myself?
Yes, you can remove debris and clean gutters, but professional cleaning ensures thorough maintenance without risking damage to the roof.
3. What should I do if I see cracks on my spray foam roof?
Contact a professional immediately. Small cracks can develop into larger issues if not addressed promptly.
4. Does spray foam roofing work well in Kokomo’s climate?
Absolutely. Spray foam roofs are highly durable and energy-efficient, making them an excellent choice for Kokomo’s diverse weather conditions.
5. Do maintenance requirements vary by Indiana regions?
The basic principles remain the same, but local weather conditions might necessitate tailored approaches. Consult a professional familiar with Indiana’s climate for personalized advice.

AI-powered cameras monitor Brazil’s oil and gas industry
Porto Alegre-based startup Pix Force and Federal University of Rio de Janeiro bet on the sector, which has invested R$32bn since 1998

Global oil and gas giants with billions in revenue are increasingly turning to startups and universities for their research, development, and innovation (RDI) projects. In this context, Pix Force, a startup from Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul), has developed a system that leverages the vast number of surveillance cameras in these industries by layering them with artificial intelligence. The AI technology continuously monitors these cameras, identifies areas with health and safety risks, flags unauthorized items in specific locations, and issues alerts to security personnel.
State-owned Petrobras, Brazil’s largest oil company, has thousands of security cameras. “It would take an army to monitor them all. It’s not a job for humans—machines are more efficient,” said Daniel Moura, who founded Pix Force with his partner Renato Gomes seven years ago. Now employing 100 people, Pix Force counts Petrobras, Vibra, Shell, and Cemig among its 35 clients in oil, gas, electric power, and mining. Pix Force projects that its revenue of R$8 million in 2023 will grow to R$13 million in 2024, boosted by new contracts. This year, the startup also opened an office at Greentown Labs in Houston, Texas, after a competitive selection process.
“Most companies already have cameras installed, but they aren’t ‘smart’—they only record,” Mr. Gomes said. Enhanced with AI software, the cameras communicate with Pix Force’s cloud-based server, where AI analyzes the data, which clients can then access. Using deep learning, the system has multiple layers of intelligence, simulating the human brain’s network.
Investment in innovation is a part of the oil and gas sector’s transformation, increasingly focused on digitalizing services. From 1998 to 2024, the 16 companies in this sector in Brazil invested R$32 billion in RDI, with Petrobras accounting for about 80% of that amount, said Melissa Fernandez, head of technology and innovation at the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP). Combined investments in 2023 reached R$4 billion.
