The Importance of Gutter Repairs
Gutters are subject to wear and tear and can become damaged over time. When this happens, gutter repairs are necessary to keep the system functioning properly.

oo ooo i saw your posts on june and vriska in rapid succession so i wanted to ask: what makes vriska a trans character? if you can’t articulate it yourself, can you lead me to someone who can?
sorry it took me so long to respond to this; it's just that there's truly so much to say. WARNING this post is so so long
vriska being a trans woman has been incorporated in official homestuck works like pesterquest and homestuck 2, which i could start with, but i think it's better to start with how it was conceived of by fans. i've only been around the fandom since mid-2019, so i can't give a very detailed overview of anything before that year, but i can tell you that for years, fans have picked up on themes from her character that resemble and represent the experiences of trans women and transfemininity overall. because of this, i'm going to be linking quite a few posts from others, both because i would otherwise just be repeating something someone else has said but also because it's these readings that have influenced my own reading of the text. this is a topic that is, at times, very subjective, and because of that, i think it's important to recognize that everyone has a slightly different reading—even if it all adds up to the same conclusion—and i want to be able to show the ideas that my reading stems from
before i get into the transfem reading of her, we have to first be on the same page on what her character is telling us within the story. in general, vriska is an incredibly complex and nuanced character, so there is a lot to jump into right off the bat. the fairly surface-level understanding we can get from vriska is that from birth, she was intentionally and deliberately molded into a weapon by the people around her. this leads to a lot of problems, obviously, but focusing on how this affects her is the important part here. she faces daily expectations on how to behave and feel; she's supposed to kill for survival, and she's supposed to like it, to the point where she's desensitized to it. this leads to her not growing healthily; she desperately wants to be more mature than she really is, she struggles to maintain friendships, etc.
Everything about what's happening here is wildly overcompensatory, meant to repair damage she's done without really having to face what it is she actually did. Aradia's extremely passive nature as a ghost makes her an easy target for this kind of overbearing attention. Because what Vriska seems to want most is acknowledgement, and more importantly, to foster strong reactions. Good or bad, love or hatred, this seems to be what she demands from everyone. So for that reason, Aradia's impassivity seems to add fuel to Vriska's sycophantic need to make amends. Not caring much one way or another about what Vriska does is guaranteed to drive Vriska crazy. Neutrality is insufferable to her because it makes her feel irrelevant. Being irrelevant is her biggest fear and ultimate enemy. She struggles to keep herself in the spotlight, and when the narrative is finally done with her and tosses her into the gutter, she fights her way back into relevance. Fighting against the forces of narrative marginalization completely define her entire batshit arc, from her introduction here all the way to the end of Homestuck. – Author Commentary
more notably, on friendships, she lashes out (as she has only been taught to do), which drives others away from her. then, when she doesn't know how to cope with the loss, she lashes out further, creating a vicious cycle
she also looks at the hardships she (along with everyone else) endures and has accepted them as "normal life"
she enforces that on others (tavros, most blatantly) as 1) the only way she knows how to "help" and 2) out of anger for others finding peace when she is unable to. with all of this together, she is consistently regarded in bad faith by others (both in and out of the story), becoming more and more isolated
it's only when terezi (through john) gives her a second chance that she's able to break the initial cycle
now, if you've never thought about it before, you might be wondering, "what does this have to do with her gender" and to that i will remind you that most aspects of alternian society are heavily gendered. for example, lord english/doc scratch's oppressive influence on the planet is a pretty strong symbol for the patriarchy, and practically every instance of oppression on alternia goes hand-in-hand with misogyny in some way. another one of these aspects is the castes themselves; highbloods specifically are referred to as male-dominated castes, putting vriska in a masculine context, something she strongly pushes back against. she leans into femininity with desperation (i.e., asking kanaya to sew a dress for her mindfang/summoner roleplay). and, to that point, she idolizes her ancestor in both her ruthlessness AND femininity. going even further, she does this to the point where she forces herself into a specific conventional feminine ideal—not because it's what she wants to be, but because it's what she thinks a woman should be. she struggles hard with her role not just in the cerulean caste, but also as a woman. as she does with her caste, she consistently fails to live up to gender expectations, unable to be a woman "correctly" in the eyes of society. it's a bootstrap paradox. again, these things go hand-in-hand. now, that's a pretty broad overview of everything, but this post is already pretty long, so we're going to move on
now we can look at it through a transfeminine lens, asking "what would a transfem reading of the character add to what already exists?" there probably isn't anything i could say that hasn't already been said by victoria (doomsdaydicecascader) so i'll link her thoughts here
another analyst i feel is crucial to include is valerie (stabvariation), who has a collection of posts on their own transfem vriska reading. make sure to click through all of them and come back here (this is an older blog of theirs btw, their listed pronouns are outdated, they go by they/them). the reason i bring up valerie in particular is that during the 2019 toblerone hunt, someone found one of the toblerones and, in continuation of the june reveal, saw an opportunity to pitch transfem vriska to the current team (they mention an essay, but i'm not sure if it was ever completed as i was never able to find it). that last post by valerie is the pitch; we can assume that it worked because 7 days later, vriska's pesterquest route was released with some pretty direct indications to her being a trans woman. this is where we leave the Fandom zone and enter the Official zone. we are no longer being subjective and are now being objective
(which to me means that their posts hold some significant weight, in my mind. and, even if it was by coincidence, and this had been written into the story in advance, i think they make good points and that they're worth including)
outside of pesterquest, vriska's now-official transfemininity has been given some nods in HSBC with the hell-tier rungs:
now, nods are nice, but the meat/significance/message/etc of this implication is once again on the reader to extract from the text (back to the subjective zone). for example, ado (gendertrickster) posted a reading on how vriska's recent developments as a character intersect with her being trans, which to me makes me think about the demonization of transfemininity throughout our society and the stigma that surrounds trans women... especially in the context of caring for children due to stereotypes of being predatory, & the fact that she's done the work to improve herself and break the cycle adds another layer to her development as the new kids' pseudo-guardian. vriska being a trans woman changes the context of this development significantly, making it 100 times more meaningful to her arc overall. and i'm sure that there are other things to add to this as well, but hopefully by now you get the point
something i want to mention before i wrap this post up is that i place emphasis on subjectivity/objectivity and what originates from the fans vs. official content not because i see subjective/fan readings as necessarily lesser than what's officially stated or what's word of god. i'd argue that they both have their own unique strengths. i think that there's a lot of power in being able to form your own perception of a work of fiction, or where readers build off of each other's ideas. what does it mean to YOU? granted, most of the time, fandom takes just kind of suck. but i think that this is one of those special cases where people came together to make a really meaningful reading of an already significant and impactful character. the stength of something being official (or even "canon") is that it's an undeniable representation of a marginalized community, something else that holds power on its own. but i want to recognize that it doesn't mean much without you being able to look at the text, read between the lines, and decide what you think it MEANS (let alone deciding if those official works are actually "good"..... frankly i think vriska's pq route could have been better). anyway i just wanted to elaborate on my thought process with the way i wrote this post & view these sorts of discussions in general)
did anyone actually read this extremely long post? (and yes, the linked posts do count). if you made it all the way down here i'm giving you an award

Shane Gang head cannons #2 Electric Boogaloo
- part 1 -
Hero worship be damned, Kord will punch Will Shane
There are multiple stashes of snacks in the Hideout. Some are booby traped
There was a moment in time when Eli was so sleep deprived, he wore his clothes backwards and inside out, and no one said a thing
The Hideout, being rather old and not having been in proper use for a handful of years, needed quite a bit of repairs and upgrades. Yet, no one has bothering to fix the gutters.
There is a rat that lives in the Shane Hideout, it's name is Randy, and no one acknowledges him outside of saying 'hi' when the rodent is spotted.
Fun fact, there was a mouse in my house like three years ago, i also named him Randy. Unfortunately, Randy is now dead :(
The Slugs of the Shane Colony have had trials,
like actual 'court' trials.
Burpy by default is the judge unless he is to take the stand as a defendant, prosecutor, or witness, and in those cases, Doc or Stinky become the new judge.
Trixie has tried (and failed) to film Eli singing
Eli hated mushrooms pre Drop, now they just remind him of chicken when cooked right
Hero worship be damned, Pronto will punch Will Shane
Kord likes romance movies
Eli likes action comedy movies
Trixie likes horror and just well shot movies in general
Pronto also like romance movies, but well done rom coms are also good.
Eli brought his mp3 player from the Surface, it's filled with a bunch of his favorite songs,
If he's having trouble falling asleep, Eli will pop in his ear buds and listen to music form his mp3 player
Don't worry, the Slugs make sure to take the buds out when their Slinger falls asleep
Pronto insists on cooking with bugs, he says it's for extra protein.
He's, unfortunately, right.
Trixie has filmed and posted a bunch of videos to the SlugNet. It wasn't until she joined the Shane Gang that her channel gained more traction
Trixie has a prank compilation on her channel that is just a compilation of all the pranks the team pull on each other that she is able to catch on Camara
The most popular Prank video is just the rest of the Gang referring to Eli as anything but his name for a whole day. And the Shane is slowly losing his mind.
Once, while undercover, Eli got mistaken for a kid skipping school and was forced into a classroom at the local school
Eli, being Eli, didn't say anything until the rest of the team had to come pick him up.
This actually led to the discovery of an underground ghouling ring.
Apparently, one of the upper class men found a berral of Dark Water, and after some trial and error, found out how to ghoul slugs and started selling their ghouling services for illegal dules
When Junjie joined the team, it was extremely awkward
For a week, Junjie was on bed rest before feeling comfortable going out on missions with them.
Junjie has so far been the only one to eat Prontos cooking with no complaints about there being bugs in it.
Junjie gets hooked on Kisses From a Hoverbug, but dose not admit it
Everyone has tried to prank Junjie, key word try, no one has succeeded.
Lack of information be damned Junjie will deck Will Shane
Two weeks after Junjie joining the gang, they have to go to Caverna Mall to get cloths and other things for him.
It goes as well as you would expect
This is also where Junjies slugs get their first real tase of not only junk food, but absolute chaos as well.
Joo-Joo becomes the fourth judge of Shane Colony court
Joo-Joo becomes a tyrant judge
Its a collective agreement to put the Infurnus in time out(in a shell) till hes cooled off.
All of the Slugs of the Shane Colony are protective of Doc
They just knew Doc was important long before their Slingers did
Rookie pranks Junjies slugs with his exploding ball things. It's funny damn it.
There is now a new tally next to Eli and Burpys. It's for Junjie and Joo-Joo, and how many fires they start
It's currently in the double digits
NO ONE TALKS ABOUT "THE GAME MASTER"
"The Jigsaw wannabe" as Eli would say.

Rowaelin x reader first kiss
Congratulations on your follower count!🥰❤️
Thank you! I appreciate that so much. But I want this to be less of a congratulations for me and more a celebration of all of you. When I first started writing here, I didn't think anyone was going to want to read anything I put out. And here you are, being so wonderful to me. I appreciate you all so much. I wouldn't still be here if you weren't.
It's late, so late. Or early, perhaps, is the better word for it as the sun just peeks over the rooftops of Orynth. The ballroom is long emptied of the revelers, and the fires in the torches guttered long ago, leaving whirls of smoke in their absence. I lean against the balcony railing, looking out onto the city below. The final repairs finished months ago, but this is the first morning I've had to really take it all in since accepting my position within the court.
"It's beautiful," I say to no one in particular, shifting my tired feet to try and bring life back into them. They're blistered from hours of dancing in heels too high to be considered decent, but gods were they pretty with my gown. Rowan hums, leaning against the rail next to me. His pine green eyes are heavy with sleep and something else, something more I can't put my finger on. He's so handsome it's almost indecent. I want to run my fingers through his white hair and feel how silky it is for myself, though I know that's beyond improper. He's a mated, married male, not to mention the king consort of our kingdom.
"It is," Aelin agrees, and I shiver as her shoulder brushes against mine when she settles on my other side. I turn to look at her, losing myself in the gold-and-turquoise depths of her eyes until the cry of a hawk startles me out of my trance. Her lips part as an uncertain smile breaks across her face, and I give myself a little shake.
"I must be tired," I laugh, rubbing at my eyes. The kohl lining them is probably horribly smudged by now anyway, I can't possibly make it worse. "What a night. It was quite a ball."
"The first of many, I hope."
"Not too many," Rowan mutters, drawing more laughter from the both of us.
"It's the only way we'll see her dressed like this, Rowan. It's well worth the trouble."
"You like my gown?" I ask, glancing down at the dress hugging my curves. The fabric is a Doranelle import designed to look like radiant starlight, sparkling in even the lowest lighting. Now, in the barest rays of dawn, I appear to have been dipped in liquid twilight.
"Like?" Aelin asks, making a spinning motion with her hand until I stand up and turn, showing it off from every angle. "Like is an understatement. You look like a dream."
"I don't ever want to take it off."
"Never?" The question is heavy, filled with emotion I can't identify; and when I look over my shoulder at her, there's a fire blazing in her eyes that wasn't there before. My breath catches in my throat, and I feel myself warm beneath her gaze. Rowan's eyes are on me, too, and I shiver as I find myself moving back to my place between them.
It's like I'm being pulled by some force I don't recognize, filling some ache I hadn't realized existed in the soul of me until now. I can't breathe, can't think. As the sun rises, Aelin's lips brush against my own. Her hand rests against my lower back like it was always meant to be there, only to be covered by Rowan's a moment later. The weight of it brings my body flush against hers, and a moan slips from me as she pulls away.
"Maybe not never," I stutter between nervous giggles. The corner of Rowan's mouth quirks into a grin as he leans in, claiming my lips with a bruising kiss that leaves me more than a little breathless. Clinging to the front of his jacket with one hand, I tangle the other in Aelin's hair, pulling her back towards me. I definitely won't mind losing the dress if they're the ones peeling it off of me.

Keeping Your Home's Exterior in Top Shape: A Guide to Chimney Repair, UPVC, Gutters, Fascias, and Soffits
Hey roofers peeps! Let's talk about the often-overlooked, yet super important, elements of your home's exterior: chimneys, UPVC, gutters, fascias, and soffits. These components play a vital role in protecting your home from the elements and maintaining its curb appeal. Neglecting their upkeep can lead to costly repairs down the line.
Chimney Repair: Your chimney is your home's primary ventilation system. Regular inspections are crucial to identify cracks, leaks, or blockages that could lead to chimney fires or water damage. Look for signs of crumbling mortar, missing bricks, or staining on the interior walls. Professional chimney repair can prevent these issues from becoming major problems.
UPVC (Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride): UPVC is a popular choice for fascias, soffits, and guttering due to its durability, low maintenance, and weather resistance. However, even UPVC needs occasional attention. Check for cracks, loose fittings, or discoloration. Repairing or replacing damaged UPVC components can prevent water damage and maintain the aesthetic appeal of your home.
Gutters, Fascias, and Soffits: These three work together to protect your home's exterior walls from water damage. Gutters collect rainwater, directing it away from your foundation. Fascias and soffits provide support for the roof and protect the eaves from the elements. Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to prevent blockages and ensure proper water drainage. Look for signs of rot, damage, or leaks.
Why Regular Maintenance Matters:
Ignoring these areas can lead to:
Water damage: Leading to costly repairs to walls, ceilings, and even the structure of your home.
Pest infestations: Damaged areas can attract pests like rodents and insects.
Reduced curb appeal: A neglected exterior can significantly impact your home's aesthetic value.

Napoleon and Water
Excerpt from the book Aaron Burr in Exile: A Pariah in Paris, 1810-1811, by Jane Merrill and John Endicott
Aaron Burr lived in Paris for 15 months, and this book goes into detail about those years living under Napoleon’s rule. This part focuses on Napoleon’s water related reforms.
———
Napoleon’s fountains gave drinking water to the population, that is, children drank water, not beer. The water was free, not purchased. And the apartment would have had a separate water closet equipped with squat toilets (adopted from the Turks) and a bucket to wash it after use. Some restaurants and cafes had W.C.s, even one for ladies and one for gents. These were hooked into the sewer system that branched under each important street.
Napoleon merits points for delivering fresh water to Paris. If serving Paris with water from the d'Ourcq River by canals was not be a consummate success, Paris gained 40 new fountains, and the emperor commanded that fountains run all day (instead of a few limited hours) and that the water be free of charge.
Perhaps the most laudable of Napoleon’s policies were utilitarian city works, especially bringing clean water and sanitation to Paris. The improvements to infrastructure included new quays to prevent floods, new gutters and pavement, new aqueducts and fountains, and relocating cemeteries and slaughterhouses to the outskirts of the city. This was also a way of keeping up employment. An Austrian aristocrat in town during Napoleon’s wedding to Marie-Louise wrote his mother, in Vienna: “Nothing can give an idea of the immense projects undertaken simultaneously in Paris. The incoherence of it is incredible; one cannot imagine that the life of a single man would be enough to finish them.”
It was a tall order. Previous rulers had been aware of the problems and one big engineering initiative, a failed marvel, had been the waterworks at Marly, located on the banks of the Seine about seven miles from Paris. Louis XIV had it constructed to pump water from the river to his chateaux of Versailles and Marly. This was the machine marvel of its age, with 250 pumps that forced river water up a 500-foot rise to an aqueduct, and it was a sight Burr mentions going to see. By 1817 the “Marly machine” had deteriorated because it was made of wood, and the waterworks were abandoned.
Charles-Augustin Sainte-Beuve, the prominent 19th century literary critic, wrote that there had been “ten years of anarchy, sedition and laxity, during which no useful work had been undertaken, not a street had been cleaned, not a residence repaired nothing improved or cleansed.” Postrevolutionary Paris was at a nadir in terms of both the inadequate, disease-ridden water supply and the filthy streets, which were basically open sewers, deep with black mud and refuse.
“Napoleon,” writes Alistair Horne, “was obsessed by the water of Paris, and everything to do with it.”
Parisians had mostly been getting their water directly from the Seine or lining up at the scant pay fountains. In 1806, nineteen new wells for fountains were dug that flowed day and night and were free. Napoleon had a canal built 60 miles from the River Ourcq, ordering 500 men to dig it, while still a consul in 1801. It brought water to the Bassin de la Villette, opening in 1808. Some doubted the wisdom of having such an abundance of water—an oriental luxury that might incur moral decay. Now the supply of water for firefighting was also much improved. The canal had light boats, as Napoleon tried to make back some of the huge expenditure by licensing navigation, and a circular aqueduct from which underground conduits went to the central city. In 1810, there were still many water porters wheeling barrels through the city.
Now Napoleon attacked the problem of the Seine as a catchall for pollution. Parisians were so used to it that men swam naked in the river and a contemporary guidebook advised merely that the water of the Seine had no ill effects on foreigners so long as they drank it mixed with wine or a drop of vinegar. Thus houses on bridges were demolished and an immense push began to clean and modernize the city sewers.
As this book is about Aaron Burr, here is section about Burr taking inspiration by a new water related invention during his time in Paris:
Remarkably for someone who was very aware of his health, he never complained of the water. He did, however, take an interest in an invention to make it easier to dig a well. When the inventor of a process to make vinegar from the sap of any tree was not in his shop, Burr and a friend, “Crede”, went to see another invention: “We went then to see Mons. Cagniard, and his new invention of raising water and performing any mechanical operation. His apparatus is a screw of Archimedes turned the reverse, air, water, and quick silver. Cagniard was abroad; but we saw a model, and worked it, and got the report of a committee of the Institute on the subject. If the thing performs what is said I will apply it to give water to Charleston.”

I think my least favourite interpretation of the past is that women "did what they were told" - especially married women. A lot of what people interpret as subjugation was done because it had to be done, and somebody had to do it, or everyone would suffer and die.
The idea that they could just pick up their skirts and go live an awakened, enlightened #feminist life without this labour is also ahistorical. You still have to have someone do the dishes after the feminist luncheon, as someone put it, and it doesn't matter who. Things, even today, need to be done. There is no path to enlightenment that ends in housework being obsolete.
These women would look at you extremely strangely if you asserted they were subservient, and laugh in your face if you insisted they get a mind of their own. They were doing things like cooking for long hours because it was that, or starve. Spin wool, or have no clothes. Split wood, or freeze.
Their job was usually "make sure nobody starves, the children are cared for, the animals are fed and watered, the injuries are tended, the fires stoked, the food purchased, the money managed, the supplies ordered, the home cleaned, the food stored properly, the wool and flax spun, the hired workers paid etc etc" and that's still an important fucking set of jobs to do.
There are also a lot of skills that we simply do not have to do anymore. We still have to have someone who cooks, who scrubs, who feeds the cat and orders the refills and makes sure the gutters are repaired. It's just less gendered now. But labour was much different then. Laundry took an entire day of the week, by hand. You had to do your own canning, your own darning, your own boot repairs, or take it to a professional for a fee... which required you to hook your own animals to a wagon, get in the saddle, or go on your own two feet. There were no fridges or lightbulbs for many years, and cleaners were often just vinegar, soap, bleach, and elbow grease. Someone had to be around to do that, or you hired someone to do it.
The idea that women were these woebegone, overworked, horribly depressed and isolated housewives is a creation of the 1950s. In the 1950s, the war was over, and most young women lived apart from their families and communities for the first time in many decades. New suburbs sprung up and isolation followed.
(This is partly why food in a box became such a staple, btw. Being in your 20s with four kids and nobody nearby to show you how to cook something, outside of memories of WW2-era foods now considered outdated after rations ended - of course packaged and instant foods became a success. It was easy.)
Of course, not every woman back then was depressed, and many were proud of their lives. It was all so new and exciting. But it was also so divorced from how life used to be, that it was still a huge shock to the system for the many that came before, who knew community and families all in one place. Now women were expected to be isolated with just their husband and kids, with no help from family, and often hours of driving between family members (parents, grandparents, siblings) on brand new highways. The cultural shockwaves are still lingering now. The world this woman knew growing up was being torn up for perfect little boxes. It's not the universal lot in life for women. It was created by housing developers to sell properties, by companies to sell products. This is not the reference point for all women, it's an aberration.
Historical women did not often live like a 50s woman did, or like we do now. We are the exception, and the Decades Challenge helps explore how history became now. But it's not linear, and women were not liberated on an ever-increasing timeline of rights. Women have always had choices, but they also had obligations different to ours.
Women were happy, they had joyful lives and were full of memories, and able to make their own decisions. They lusted, they cried from laughter, they had tenderness and were able to shape a life they were happy within. They lived in communities and were a proud part of them.
This applies heavily to a lot of narratives around the Decades Challenge - that women were simply wives until feminism liberated them. As if being just a wife is anything to sneeze at, as if women didn't also have lives beyond that. The idea that they were forced to cook, forced to milk the cow and tend the hens and have the kids is insulting. Many women wanted these things and chose them willingly. Many dreamed of that life. Many did it to survive and would feel it strange that you wouldn't see her choice as smart or valid.
Of course, not every woman got free choice (there is abuse everywhere!) and many did suffer. Many did feel trapped. Many still do. But it's absolutely appalling to me that there's even the idea that all women universally were miserable waifs for centuries, waiting to be liberated from behind drawn curtains, waiting to bloom. It's untrue.
I just wish people would write their historical women as more than pitiful or uneducated on their own rights. They had a different world than we do, but that world wasn't solely a horrible place to be a woman, and you should show them the same respect as that #girlboss you think of today.

Gutter Cleaning Services: Protecting Your Home from Water Damage
Maintaining clean gutters is essential for preserving your home’s structural integrity and preventing costly repairs. Professional gutter cleaning services offer a practical solution to remove debris, ensure proper water drainage, and extend the lifespan of your gutter system. This summary highlights the importance, benefits, and considerations of hiring gutter cleaning services to safeguard your property.
Why Invest in Gutter Cleaning Services?
Clogged gutters can lead to overflowing water, which damages roofs, erodes landscaping, and causes basement flooding. Over time, stagnant water attracts pests and promotes mold growth. Gutter cleaning services eliminate leaves, twigs, and sediment, ensuring gutters function efficiently. Experts also inspect for issues like rust, leaks, or sagging sections, addressing minor problems before they escalate.
Benefits of Professional Expertise
Opting for gutter cleaning services provides advantages over DIY efforts. Trained technicians use specialized tools, such as high-pressure vacuums and gutter scoops, to clear blockages safely and thoroughly. They follow safety protocols to avoid ladder-related risks, a common hazard for homeowners. Many gutter cleaning services also offer gutter guard installation, reducing future maintenance needs.
The Process of Gutter Maintenance
A typical gutter cleaning services visit begins with a detailed inspection to identify problem areas. Technicians manually remove debris before flushing gutters and downspouts with water to test flow. They also check for structural issues, tighten loose brackets, and realign misaligned sections. Post-service, providers often share a report outlining gutter condition and recommendations.
Choosing the Right Provider
When selecting gutter cleaning services, prioritize licensed, insured companies with positive customer reviews. Transparent pricing—often based on linear footage or property size—is crucial. Look for providers familiar with regional challenges, such as heavy rainfall or frequent storms, to ensure tailored solutions.
Cost-Effectiveness and Long-Term Savings
While gutter cleaning services involve upfront costs, they prevent expensive repairs like roof replacements, foundation fixes, or mold remediation. Many companies offer seasonal discounts or maintenance packages, making biannual cleanings affordable. Regular upkeep also enhances gutter durability, delaying the need for full replacements.
DIY vs. Professional Gutter Cleaning
Though some homeowners attempt DIY cleaning, gutter cleaning services ensure comprehensive results. Professionals spot hidden issues like rotting fascia boards or pest nests that untrained individuals might miss. Their expertise minimizes the risk of accidental damage to gutters or roofing during the process.
Post-Service Maintenance Tips
After using gutter cleaning services, consider installing gutter guards to reduce debris accumulation. Trim overhanging branches and schedule annual inspections, particularly before rainy seasons. These steps help maintain optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your gutter system.
Environmental and Aesthetic Benefits
Beyond functionality, gutter cleaning services enhance curb appeal by preventing unsightly stains from overflowing water. Proper drainage also protects flower beds and soil from erosion, preserving your landscaping investments.
Conclusion
Investing in professional gutter cleaning services is a proactive measure to protect your home’s value and structural health. By ensuring efficient water drainage, you avoid costly damage to roofs, foundations, and interiors. Regular maintenance, paired with expert care, provides peace of mind and long-term savings.

Does Residential Metal Roofing Require Regular Maintenance?
A residential metal roofing system often comes to the forefront when considering home improvements. Many homeowners are drawn to metal roofs because of their durability and low maintenance needs. But you might be wondering: Does residential metal roofing require regular maintenance? The answer is yes, but it’s not as daunting as it sounds. Let’s delve into what maintenance looks like for metal roofing and why it’s essential for protecting your investment.
Understanding Residential Metal Roofing
Residential metal roofing has gained popularity for various reasons, including longevity, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal. Unlike traditional roofing materials, metal roofing can last 40-70 years when properly maintained. However, like any investment, it requires some care to maximize lifespan.
The Importance of Maintenance for Residential Metal Roofing
While metal roofs require less maintenance than other roofing materials, regular upkeep is still necessary. Routine maintenance helps identify potential issues early on, preventing minor problems from spiraling into costly repairs. Maintaining your metal roof ensures it remains an efficient barrier against the elements, providing peace of mind.
Surface-Level Maintenance Tasks
Most surface-level maintenance tasks for residential metal roofing are straightforward. Here are some key activities you should consider:
Regular Inspections: It’s a good idea to inspect your roof at least once or twice a year, ideally in the spring and fall. Look for any signs of wear, such as loose seams, rust, or scratches in the paint.
Clean the Roof Surface: Debris, like leaves, branches, and dirt, can accumulate on your roof. Use a soft broom or blower to gently remove this debris, ensuring water flows freely off your roof.
Check for Damage: During your inspections, pay close attention to flashings, gutters, and downspouts for any signs of damage. These areas are critical for directing water away from your home.
Address Rust and Corrosion Promptly: If you notice any rust spots, it’s important to treat them quickly. Use a wire brush to scrub the rust off, and apply a rust-inhibiting primer and paint to prevent further corrosion.
Ensure Proper Drainage: Ensure your gutters and downspouts are functioning correctly. Clogged gutters can cause water to pool on your roof, eventually causing leaks and structural damage.
Structural Maintenance Methods
In addition to surface-level tasks, some structural maintenance may be necessary to ensure the integrity of your residential metal roofing system:
Check the Roof Structure: Inspect the underlying structure for signs of sagging or warping. This can indicate larger issues with the roof’s framework that may require professional attention.
Sealant and Caulking: Sealants around seams and flashings may degrade over time. However, applying materials can help maintain a watertight seal over time.
Trim Overhanging Branches: If you have trees near your home, consider trimming any branches hanging over your roof. This helps prevent damage from falling limbs and reduces debris accumulation.
Professional Inspections: While you can perform basic maintenance yourself, consider hiring a professional to conduct a thorough inspection every few years. They can spot potential issues that may not be visible to the untrained eye.
Common Myths About Residential Metal Roofing Maintenance
There are several myths surrounding the maintenance of residential metal roofing. Let’s debunk a few:
Myth 1: Metal Roofs Don’t Require Any Maintenance
While metal roofs require less upkeep than other materials, they still need attention. Regular inspections and cleaning can extend their longevity.
Myth 2: All Metal Roofs Are the Same
Not all metal roofing systems are created equal. Some might have better coatings or finishes that require different maintenance approaches. Always refer to your manufacturer’s guidelines.
Myth 3: You Can Walk on Metal Roofing Safely
While some metal roofs can withstand foot traffic, it’s important to tread carefully. If you’re unsure, it’s best to consult a professional for maintenance tasks.
The Role of Climate in Metal Roofing Maintenance
Your local climate can significantly influence the maintenance needs of your residential metal roofing. For instance, areas with heavy rainfall may require more frequent inspections to check for rust and drainage issues. Conversely, regions with intense sunlight may lead to fading paint and thermal expansion, which can affect seams and fasteners.
Energy Efficiency and Metal Roofing
One major benefit of residential metal roofing is its energy efficiency. By reflecting sunlight, metal roofs can keep homes cooler during hot months, potentially lowering energy bills. Regular maintenance ensures that your roof continues to perform efficiently.
Cool coatings can further enhance this effect. Products like Sherwin-Williams Solar Reflective coatings can help mitigate the urban heat island effect, saving money on heating and cooling over time.
Invest in Long-Lasting Protection
In summary, while residential metal roofing requires regular maintenance, the tasks are manageable and time-efficient. By performing routine inspections, cleaning, and promptly addressing minor issues, you can ensure that your metal roofing remains in excellent condition for decades.

Alley Cats AU: What Eva Did

Eva has anger issues. That's not even a rumor worth talking about at school. It's just a fact.
Even before her official exile, others knew to stay clear of her. She'd either snap at others or be stoic. Everyone else just knew to let her pass if they saw her or risk her wrath.
It had always been like this since Eva could remember. She couldn't tell you what caused her anger issues. She had a pretty decent home life all things considered. She just knew that when something annoyed her, it frustrated her. And when it frustrated her, she wanted to scream and punch at the nearest thing.
"Just calm down." People always told her. "Count to ten. Take a deep breath and let it pass."
It never worked. A deep breath always became two, then ten, then became a lot more rapid and her exhales always end up becoming screams.
Her parents tried to help her express her anger through calming activities like painting and poetry. They stopped when they had to repair the damage of an easel being thrown into the wall. Nothing seemed to work.
Until high school when she found out about the girl's wrestling team. It looked really cool. Her parents were worried that this would only encourage her violent tendencies. But after enough pestering and more broken drywall, they decided to let her give it a shot.
And it worked. Letting out her frustrations in a controlled environment meant she could smack someone around but still have the sense not to take it too far. The adrenaline was going out naturally. It also led to her having to exercise more to stay fit. In its purest form, exercise is simply a way of tearing apart muscles in order to rebuild them stronger than before. It's destruction that's actually positive for once. And getting away from people to jog or exercise meant she could scream all she want. In fact, she found herself screaming less after a good morning jog.
Her stoic demeanor didn't change, as much as her parents would like it to. They wanted to see a daughter without anger issues and with plenty of friends. A calm, happy child. Which is what Eva was. Her calm involved a lot more screaming with a lot less potential for injuring people, and she was relatively happy with making semi-decent friends with her team mates. But it wasn't what her parents envisioned. And that pissed her off.
Anger issues don't just magically disappear. Eva still got triggered by things like people being stupid. She wanted to leave whenever it happened, but teachers would simply tell her to sit back down and not make a fuss. She tried using the only method she knew how, breathing deeply. Which almost always led to outbursts.
Another trigger of hers was being called dumb. She struggled with learning even without her anger issues. Her parents had tried tutors. Some were condescending. Some did genuinely mean well.
No tutor wanted to stay after getting yelled at or seeing her throw her book against the wall.
Combine all this with a reputation for getting angered easily and you have a certain group of students who find it hilarious to poke at her and watch her blow up. Even though things were changing for the better, it doesn't help when you're still in an environment actively seeking to trigger you.
And then, the worst happened. Some would call it inevitable. Even when it was completely preventable.
Eva had a bad day.
Her grades are in the gutters. She hasn't managed to find anyone willing to tutor her in weeks. She wouldn't give a shit about her grades except her coach has told her if she doesn't improve then she'll have to be benched. She can't get benched now because the most important match of the year is coming up. She's been looking forward to one of the few joys in her life. She can't let something as stupid as grades get in her way. But if she wants help at this point, she'll have to beg for it. And she hates begging. It's pathetic, and Eva is not pathetic. Everything is coming to a boiling point and she still has to drag herself to class by class. She has to suck this up. She can't fuck this up. She can't let the world fuck this up for her just like it has everything else.
She's seeing red, so she goes after the nearest red thing she sees. A brick wall. She punches it and she knows she's making a spectacle. She punches it and she knows her knuckles are going to be torn to shreds. She punches it because she has to. She can't stop, even if she wanted to. All this anger needs to come out, and this is the way it has to be then so be it.
She can see other students surrounding her like they're watching a caged lion ripping apart a gazelle. She can feel them staring, making comments. She knows this is going to be their gossip of the day. It makes her want to act like a lion as she screams louder and keeps punching that wall. The red is coming from her knuckles now and she can't bring herself to care. She can and will make it through this one way or another.
She's barely able to acknowledge when one girl breaks through the crowd and tries to ask others to give her space that they'll never yield. Bridgette approaches her with nothing but good intentions. She puts an arm on Eva's shoulder and asks if she's okay.
Neither girl knows what a rage attack is. Neither girl knows that at this point, at the peak, the only thing Eva can do is ride it through until she's tired herself out. Neither girl knows just how horrible of an idea it is to get closer to someone during a rage attack. An even worse idea to touch them and make them feel as if there's no way out.
One girl just sees another hurting herself and wants to help.
Breaking things always helped Eva feel better.
Bridgette's arm was a thing.
Eva's not the only one screaming anymore.
It takes two security officers to take her down and drag her away.
It takes a miracle, plus a lot of bribery, in order to keep Eva from being expelled. She's also lucky that despite what Eva did, Bridgette is still too kind to press charges.
Still, she can't completely avoid consequences for sending another student to the hospital. She's kicked off the wrestling team. None of the girls want to spar, train, or even hang out with her now that they know how far she's willing to go. The coach agrees that keeping her on the team would make the team look bad to other schools. Everyone at school is either scared of or hates her. Nobody is willing to say as much to her face. Those who had fun with provoking her run at the sight of her in fear that they're next. Even the teachers are terrified of her. Some going as far as to start giving her better grades to keep her happy. She does feel bad for what she did to Bridgette, but she has no idea how to apologize because non-rage feelings are hard. Not that it matters. No one else will let her get remotely close to Bridgette. Others will try to block Eva's path or will usher Bridgette away.
Everyone ostracizing her combined with not having outlet of wrestling just leads her to get even angrier. The angrier she gets, the more scared others get. She's at least aware enough of what's about to happen again and doesn't want another repeat of Bridgette, so she runs to take out her frustration in an abandoned alley far away from people.
That's how Noah finds her.
He knows what happened because even though no one told him directly, he's not deaf. The two have never really interacted with each other before now. They ran in different circles.
And now Eva's in the last place he really has to call his own, absolutely wrecking it. Which, to be fair, isn't really changing it too much. Logic says the best thing to do would be to leave her alone and find somewhere else to read. Except this alley is his somewhere else to read. He's not about to give it up. Besides, his interactions with Justin are proof that he clearly has no self preservation instincts. So to deal with her he goes.
Noah's actually the best person to help her out in this situation. He doesn't try telling her to calm down or react with fear or aggression. His monotone voice doesn't trigger her and he's not stupid enough to get closer. She shouts at him and he doesn't yield (the perks of having eight older siblings). So she rants while still destroying shit, but unlike Bridgette, Noah comes out of this interaction unscathed as she successfully calms herself down.
Noah does feel bad for her despite his reputation as a little bundle of hate. Still, he lets her know that he's not about to let her do whatever she wants with his alley. He's expecting her to try tossing him out of his alley, but she doesn't really give a shit about that. Nor does she give a shit about bullying him because of what he did to Justin. It's not her problem, and she's got her own shit to deal with.
And, well, Noah's got no idea how to help her, nor does he really care to. So long as she doesn't plan on beating him up or throwing him out, he's got no problems with sharing the alley.
Noah reads, Eva exercises. She manages to bring a punching bag into the alley while Noah actually makes a little pseudo-bookshelf of books he's ferreted away from the library. Sometimes it's just Eva by herself unleashing all her rage. Other times it's just Noah reading by himself. When they're together, they hang out in comfortable silence. Neither one forces conversation. It happens anyways, bit by bit.
Eva actually has somewhere she can just relax for once. In return for the company, she starts threatening to whale on anyone who tries screwing with Noah. This doesn't help with Noah's social exile, but it does stop all the physical bullying that'd been happening.
Noah even agrees to actually tutor Eva as thanks for the bully protection. She still gets frustrated, but he's patient enough to wait her out. It leads to her getting less frustrated during tutoring. There's still the thrown book here or there, but her recovery gets quicker. Her grades do start improving. They start talking to one another in the hallways between classes. Sometimes about small things. Sometimes it's just Noah doing yet another hating Justin rant and Eva begrudgingly listening.
All of this has the unintended consequence of rumors spreading that Eva and Noah were dating.
Eva didn't really care enough to say anything. But she'd be willing to throw hands if Noah wanted her to. Noah didn't see a reason to try to stop them because that would just make people think they were trying to cover it up. (Besides, if he was passing as straight then no one would ever think that he once had a thing for Justin.) So they let others think whatever while they were content with being friends.
They weren't Alley Cats yet, but they were two mangy cats in an alley. They were content to leave it like this.
And then Krazy Glue happened.
<- What Noah Did | AU Masterpost | What Izzy Did ->
[So, this one took a little while! Not only because Sea Monster AU pushed it back. I knew that Eva's character arc was going to center around her anger issues. They're a central part of her character, even though canon doesn't take it much farther than 'watch Eva wreck shit'. Given that I in no way have experience with anger issues, I wanted to make sure I took the time to research anger issues and people's lived experiences with them. This post in particular was a major help. I HIGHLY encourage you to read it. It goes into what actually helps people with anger issues, as well as how you can support friends with anger issues. It also goes into what a rage attack is, which I'd had no idea was a thing going into writing this. I do sincerely hope in my portrayal of Eva's rage attack I portrayed the fact that neither her nor Bridgette was in the wrong. It was an unfortunate accident caused by circumstances outside of their control. Eva's not at fault or broken for lashing out or getting angry. But it is Eva's responsibility to make amends for causing harm to someone else. Her character arc's going to be internalizing the fact that she really isn't just 'the girl with anger issues', learning healthier ways of dealing with them (some of which she's already doing even though she doesn't fully recognize that yet), and making amends when her anger issues do cause harm without demonizing her for causing it in the first place. Normally I'd put this blurb in its own little post, but I wanted to include it here because I do think sharing the post on anger issues is important, and that there should probably be context surrounding it, too. Also, if you do find genuine issue in any way I've portrayed this, PLEASE let me know so I can fix it.]

Why is regular roof inspection important for protecting your home or business?

Introduction: The Hidden Risks Above Your Head
Most property owners rarely think about their roof until something goes wrong—like a sudden leak or visible damage. However, your roof is your first line of defense against the elements. Regular roof inspection is not just a routine task—it's a critical step to protect the long-term value, safety, and functionality of your home or commercial building.
Part 1: What is a Roof Inspection?
A roof inspection is a thorough evaluation of your roof’s condition, checking for wear, damage, moisture intrusion, ventilation problems, and structural integrity. Professional inspectors examine:
Roofing materials (shingles, metal, tiles)
Flashing and seals around vents and chimneys
Gutters and drainage systems
Signs of mold, rot, or water damage
Interior attic or ceiling areas for hidden leaks
These assessments help detect both surface and hidden issues that may not be visible from the ground.
Part 2: Early Problem Detection Saves Money
One of the primary benefits of regular roof inspections is catching problems early. A small crack in flashing or missing shingles may seem minor now, but over time it can lead to water infiltration, mold, and structural deterioration. The cost of a basic repair is significantly less than replacing insulation, decking, or entire roof systems due to delayed maintenance.
Example: A $200 fix today could prevent a $5,000 water damage issue six months from now.
Part 3: Protecting Property Value
For homeowners, regular inspections are essential for maintaining and even increasing property value. During home appraisals or when listing a property, a certified roof report can:
Improve buyer trust
Speed up negotiations
Help secure better insurance terms
For business owners, a well-maintained roof reflects positively on your company image and ensures a safe environment for staff and customers.
Part 4: Boosting Energy Efficiency
Roofing issues like improper insulation, ventilation blockages, or damaged membranes can drive up your utility bills. Heat escaping during winter or entering during summer puts extra strain on HVAC systems. A roof inspection helps identify:
Poor ventilation systems
Gaps in insulation
Heat leaks and cold spots
Potential moisture buildup
Fixing these problems can lead to noticeable savings on heating and cooling costs.
Part 5: Compliance and Insurance Claims
In many regions, commercial properties must meet building codes and inspection standards. Regular roof evaluations ensure compliance and help avoid fines or shutdowns.
Additionally, if your roof is damaged by a storm or natural disaster, having a record of regular inspections strengthens your insurance claim. Most providers prefer working with proactive property owners who maintain their structures responsibly.
Part 6: Extending Roof Lifespan
A professionally installed roof can last 20 to 50 years depending on the material. However, that lifespan drastically decreases if small issues go unresolved. Regular inspections:
Prevent moisture accumulation
Reduce risk of mold and rot
Ensure flashing and seals remain intact
Extend the usable life of your roof system
Think of inspections as preventive healthcare for your building—regular checkups lead to longer life.
Part 7: Safety and Liability Reduction
Roof damage doesn’t just affect the building—it can pose real safety risks. Loose shingles or tiles can fall, hidden leaks can cause interior ceiling collapses, and pooling water can lead to mold exposure.
For businesses, this increases the risk of employee or customer injury—and legal liability. Regular inspections help avoid:
Slip hazards
Falling debris
Electrical problems from water damage
Structural weakness in older roofs
Conclusion: Proactive Roof Care is Smart Ownership
Whether you own a home or manage a commercial building, regular roof inspections are a smart, cost-effective way to protect your investment. From improving energy efficiency and property value to reducing repair costs and ensuring safety, it’s a small step that brings long-term benefits.

Been thinking today about forcefam where you wake up... not in a different house, but with /other people/ in your house...
You finally moved out 2 years ago, you've been living alone for a while now, which was easy to switch to after collage years of cramped, sweaty dorms. The house isn't the best, but it was within budget and more important, available at all. It needed some TLC, but was in no way beyond saving, even to a new collage grad with close to no experience doing house repairs at all. Oh well, in the age of Youtube, anyone can do it. It was a 2 bedroom, but the other room sat empty, save for some boxes from moving you keep kicking yourself for still never unpacking... but it's a strange house.
Such a happy, nice looking neighborhood. You first noticed it was for sale some time ago, and expected it to be bought in a matter of days. But it sat and sat. When you were ready to look for a place to stay, it was shocking to see it still there, vacant. In a reasonable walkable distance to some local buildings, in a safe part of town. Too good to be true, you thought at first, but when they allowed you to look around inside, the agent allowed you to scrutinize every inch.... No termites... the foundation is fine... pipes and amenities dont need to be replaced (though upgrades are always nice)... The most it needs is a fresh paint coat and treatment for some moisture issues like mold. Otherwise, the house was perfect. It came with a lot too- the fridge, stove, even the washer and dryer. The neighborhood was wonderful too! Everyone's yards looked great, with gardens in the back and flowers out the front, kids played on the sidewalk but it didnt ever really feel 'too loud'. Apparently it's close to the schools around here too, but you havent visited them. You used to pass this area often but never really saw people out and about, so the bustle of the neighborhood life is actually a bit exciting and it sounds fun to get to know some new folks, though a bit intimidating as well...
The agent who was leading you around explained everyone nearby's been pitching in to keep it from getting overgrown while its been vacant, mowing the lawn, cleaning the gutters, and one of the teens a few houses down has been practicing using his dad's powerwasher before summer comes around because he wants to do some jobs while schools out, and he sure seems to be doing a good enough job at it because the house looks great. Why, the house hardly even looks vacant, it's been so well kept it nearly feels like the homeowner will pull in any second... which almost makes it seem like the house is calling for you to be the one to grace it.
So, you moved in. It's still surreal over 2 years later. It almost makes you feel guilty you havent been doing as much with the house as you planned, its always easier in the moment to say you'll do it. Things that were more pressing got done, sure, like cleaning out some mold and replacing a few lights. You've finally got the hang of living alone, but it's a bit strange all the same.
Some days, it still feels like you'll walk into your living room and see someone on the couch, scrolling absently on their phone, or watching the news. Maybe that's why the shock doesnt set it immediately when you wake up this monday morning to a gentle shake.
"Wake up dear, come get dressed so you can eat breakfast before heading out."
A woman's voice... You sigh as you hear footsteps leave the room. Deciding you must be dreaming, you allow yourself to lay still, keeping your eyes closed. As much as you'd like to fall back into the gentle numbness of sleep, something keeps you where you are. Can you not fall asleep in dreams? You realize you dont know as much about this as you wish you did. Maybe it's time to borrow some books on dreams from the library. You dont open your eyes much at all when you hear the footsteps return.
"Come on now, it's Monday baby. If you dont eat breakfast soon, you'll be late. And im not sending you off the school without breakfast!"
That woman's voice again. You dont get a good look at her before she goes again, you were still too bleary eyed as you sat up. You let yourself take in the environment. The morning sun is coming in through the blinds, gentle bars of gold line the floor from their half opened plastic strips... Does it really take a dream to think, 'I really have to replace those gross old dust traps.' you ask yourself jokingly. But the world only gets clearer the longer you sit up, and a feeling of anxious mystery begins to settle on your back. It's... definitely your room. But you didnt put up those plastic bits. No, theyre not yellowed, they're those tacky glow in the dark stars. The half folded clothes on top of your dresser you didnt put away are gone too. The time worn old stuffed animal youve had sense you were 5 or so sits on top of the dresser now. Sure, you took it with you when you moved out, but the sentimental lump of dust and polyester had been sitting in a box for years now. It's only now that you start to hear the quiet sound of a kitchen in use, and the smell of something sweet and baked.
You will your legs to move, wanting to investigate but not wanting to do so in your underwear, regardless of if this is a dream. The dresser drawer opens in your hands to a flash of colors you dont quite recognize. reds and blues and yellows, scattered graphics of cartoon characters or animals, colorful stripes and childish patterns. Feeling more intrigued by the minute, you just grab at random for a shirt and pants, putting them on and going for your bedroom door. It hung slightly ajar, but even that didnt quite help you as you hesitated to open it and go. But with an inhale and spare scraps of courage you power through.
Creeping out to the kitchen, the woman who must have woke you stood, facing away, focused on something else. Pancakes sat on a cooking rack. Unfortunately, she turns around and notices you, and although you're a bit shocked, you dont feel in danger. It's just a dream after all, right? Just a weird dream.
"Good morning dear!" She greets you, walking over and pinching your cheek. "Dont you just look adorable~! Dressing yourself these days? Grab a plate, if you want any juice, i just too it out of the fridge."
She shuffles off to the other side of the house, leaving you a bit baffled. Nonetheless, you do as you're told, but as you sit down and start to eat, you start to struggle to swallow, as the fear sets in.
Can... can you eat in dreams? These taste... well, fine. Clearly a box mix. But thats the troubling part. It's a dream so you told yourself theyd taste like cake, but they dont. no matter how much you concentrate, they dont. They taste like totally passable instant mix pancakes. You noticed it before, but it's only started to trouble you seriously now, but everything feels real. Walking, breathing, seeing... feels real. The clothes feel... like clothes. You look back at the train track print on your arm, desperately trying to control your breathing as you feel yourself pale.
It's normal. It's... totally normal. Legible. With your clear vision. A bird sings outside the window. You hear the woman downstairs begin to speak, sterner than she did with you.
"Danny im not saying it again, get up. You're not just walking yourself to school you know, and with my new job I cant drop you off anymore."
... Who the fuck is DANNY? And now that we're thinking about it, who the fuck is this woman? You really start to worry about having eaten, and thank yourself for having not touched your glass of cold orange juice, even if it's sweating glass is hard to resist. You feel your body betray you as you freeze and tears start to well up at the bottom of your vision. It's the type of situation every person probably thinks theyll just simply handle 'right'. But as the stranger walks back over to the kitchen, and a second pair of footsteps walk up from the basement, you dont run to the phone. You dont grab a knife, or dash for the door. You sit there helpless as she notices, coming over and drying your face with a sleeve.
"Oh honey, i know nobody likes to go to school. You cant stay with mommy all day though, mommy has to go to work soon!"
M.... mommy?
...
School?
#forcefamily#forcefam#focused on the house a lot because i thought that would be a fun sort of 'established setting' but instead#it sort of makes this read as 'the fantasy of home ownership' ww#original#<- here i need a tag for the little things i write#[throws hands up] ITS PRACTICE. IM WORKING ON IT.#depending on your interpretation and the reader it could also be read a bit as like a forcefam thing with cultural or race elements of#force as well. i intended it to be a sort of background thing but if the reader is like... used to white suburbs you probably dont get that#from it
