Today marks the release anniversary of the novel "The Courtship of Princess Leia." This book features the first appearances for two formidable matriarchal cultures- the Hapes Consortium (from which we partially derive our name) and the Witches of Dathomir!
Which planet would you rather visit? Hapes or Dathomir?

Hidden in the smile of an enormous cliff sculpture of a strikingly beautiful Hapan queen, the secret entrance to the Royal Hangar was—like everything associated with the Fountain Palace—a testament to the wealth and power of the Hapan Consortium. It was also designed to accommodate the sleek little skiffs and sport ketches that messengers or secret lovers might fly, not working transports like the Millennium Falcon.
Characters of my friends in the Star Wars rpg game that we play :) In order they are Dirssa, our Chiss tech guy and double(triple?) agent, Kaann, the Deathwatch Bounty hunter on a revenge quest, and Alys, a Hapan noble politician looking for retribution.

I desperately want to see more of Tenel Ka as the Queen Mother, and how she, like, manages to be a good ruler and carry within her everything that a Jedi Knight is, in spite of the political system she's in charge of being epitomized by enough murderous treachery to make Sith feel at home.
"But no invader can rule Hapes without Hapan blood on the throne, and whoever Confederation installs as their puppet won’t tire. The pretender will be too frightened of me or Allana trying to return, and she’ll keep looking until we’re dead.”
I do kinda think the attempts on Queen Mother Tenel Ka's life would have probably decreased in frequency as the nobles began to gradually realize it was pointless against her.
Which, now that I think about it... Tenel Ka actually managing to impose some kind of sanity on that serpent's nest just because they know how badass she is, and that they can't stop her from making choices that save the lives and health of the common citizens of the Hapes Consortium, at the expense of the rich people who can fucking afford it.
They do say power is best given to those who want it least.
