isaac had the best arc and character development i was IMMERSED and i’m glad he got his happy ending. he showed out, did his thing, he was literally the sickest character in s3 and 4 besides trevor and sypha UGH U JUST LOVE TO SEE IT

i liked his reunion with hector but omg HECTOR GROW A BACKBONE DEAR GOD SIR U ARE A VICTIM i don’t blame him for being manipulated but fawking GOD 😭 he must have been lonely as hell to bang lenore like she’s pretty and treated him “well” (well no !) but DUDE … i am still in love w him tho he is so Precious To Me and the way he treats his night creatures is so 🥹 HE’S SO SWEET TO THEM <///333 i love his backstory about how he revived dead animals as a kid and ykw his family deserved to burn idgaf !

also as cool as the isaac vs carmilla fight was i rly feel like hector should have been the one to fight her. hector Was on her side in s2 and she trapped him in s3. he had the biggest bone to pick with her and he deserved his big moment. i don’t think isaac Ever really interacted with carmilla so it definitely should have been hector’s battle. i was invested in his story but it kinda fell flat at the end for me … he suffered was literally in a stockholm syndrome relationship and for what … at least he can write his fuckass book DAMN

i did not feel bad for lenore when she was complaining about being in a cage like truly nobody gaf i love her for the evil character that she is tho. evil women my beloveds. i appreciate how there were so many atrocities committed for and by women. amazing

yesss! i finished szn 4 a few days ago and here are my opinions;

Maeve Wiley stays the love of my life ❤️❤️ she has been my girl since DAY 1!!!!!

so far I enjoyed everyone’s arcs/stories ESPECIALLY ERIC AND AIMEE!! Watching both of them find themselves was so cathartic😭

Adam and his relationship with his dad literally made me cry especially since I had daddy issues😭

I wanna give Jean A HUGE HUG ISTG. Having a newborn is exhausting like literally. I remember when my mom had my younger sister. Zero sleep 🤦🏽‍♀️

Otis pissed me TF OFF THIS SEASON. UGHHHHHHHHH. But lowkey it made me realize how selfish he was over the past seasons, like when Eric said “whenever maeve is around nothing else matters to him” I WAS LIKE UR SO RIGHT?????

Otis’ mission to prove he was the better sex therapist was exhausting to watch, how he used everyone around him and didn’t even care about their feelings was so irritating , but this has been going on for the whole show and I didn’t even pay attention 😔

okay sorry this is gonna be long but!! nobody else talks about it with me lol

i saw a tiktok and someone said maeve’s story was rushed this season and her mother’s death was unnecessary, but i disagree ENTIRELY. i think this was the most brutally honest version of maeve we’ve ever seen. i’m so glad they brought sean back (i was hoping they would!!) because their sibling dynamic and childhood trauma is such a captivating storyline to me. it really resonates lmao

and aimee!! oh my god i loved her this season. i always loved her, but this season she was truly the best! her style was gorge, but i also just really appreciated that the writers didn’t rush into her healing journey. she really took her time with it, and as someone who’s been sa’d, this is the truth of it! i feel so much of aimee in me!! and i loved her taking up photography—it felt very on-brand for her character, who sort of sees everything for what it is.

i was never a big isaac fan (for obvious reasons) but i enjoyed his character development this season. i was iffy on him and aimee together (because i looooved steve) but by the end i liked them!!

when adam screamed at his dad and called him just a “scared little man with a job he hates” i was like YESSSS!!! conor is such an amazing actor and i loved adam all throughout the show as a character just because of how nuanced he was. he has such a sad little face :(

otis. otis…bleh. not the biggest fan this season. agreed he’s always been selfish. but i do feel like his riff with eric this season kind of felt silly because it came out of nowhere.

very very sad about the lack of jakob especially because of what they went through in s3. i think him not being there at all felt really out of character for him. i think even if he found out joy wasn’t his, after dealing with such a difficult pregnancy and jean almost dying, he wouldn’t have just uprooted everyone and abandoned her.

i really appreciated the storyline with jean and her sister.

overall, i think maeve’s storyline was my favorite this season. i loved her characterization (biased opinion since she’s just…me) and wish we had a liiiiiittttle longer to explore all of her backstory, but i’m also pretty pleased with where the show ended! i think it makes sense otis and maeve didn’t end up together.

Snufkin i love this version of him. Hes so little. Like personality wise. He has his wisdom sure but like in the same way a kid with shitty parents does. Like you know a lot due to your circumstances but you are also young and have not seen much. Hes me and that is why he is my pfp. Man says "bye" by just leaving without warning and besties that is my toxic trait!!! Also I have the hot take that his need to not want to constrain something by loving it too much is actualllly about how he doesnt want to like. Force moomin to always wait for him. I think hes very afraid of trapping moomin rather than moomin trapping him. Whether this is about romantic or platonic feelings is irrelevant. I am this way about everyone.

I really want more snorkmaiden development all of her character arcs seem to be second to jer relationship with moomin. Which wpuld be fine if moomin wasnt the main character? Because she should basically then be the 2nd character with major plot stuff going on. Shes gotten more stuff as weve gone on (esp with snorks intro in s3) and i hope s4 really delves into her character because i like her character a lot!

Speaking of moomin and Snorkmaiden's relationship! It's very light on the themes like most of their early stuff is snorkmaiden wanting a stronk man and moomin being a soft boi which was okay thematically. Could be better but it wasnt the worst. But now its just "look at that relationship. Wow. Sure is a relationship!" Where. Where are the themes. Like you have an amazing set up theme with moomin living at the top of a tower and there was the one episode that shows snorkmaiden playing with a knight figurine or something and it would be awesome to have snorkmaiden be moomin's knight in shining armour you know role reversal on the manly knight saving the princess in the tower. But they havent really shown they were gonna go down that route since moomin came back from the island. And that would be fine, except. Well. Moomin does have a relationship with another character that has A Lot of themes! Including framing moomin as a princess-in-the-tower. Like im sorry but why are they giving snufkin and moomin so many romatic themes if theyre not even gonna follow through? Im not letting myself get my hopes up, we're being queerbaited my dudes that mountain ep was like. ???????? As someone who went to film school and LITERALLY STUDIES THEMES IN MOTION PICTURES LIKE FILM AND TV whaaat the fuck. Its queer baiting im sorry and it pisses me off so much. Theyre shorting snorkmaidens character to queerbait us with snufmin this isnt what anyone wanted me to say but its true and everyone needs to relunctantly accept it

The writers in tua really added in a rising sun flag in s3 and the “ open up your kimono” line klaus said towards Ben was super weird considering bens korean, not to mention the fandom treats Lila like shit especially after s2 dropped the double standards were horrible. What are your thoughts on how Asian characters are treated by the writers in tua?

Oh my god I've been waiting for someone to ask me this for ages. Right off the bat I am gonna just say I can't really speak on how the fandom treated Lila when she was first introduced because I wasn't in the fandom then (I was there for s1 and s3 when they came out, but not s2). I can however speak about the other characters! 

Ben throughout s1 and s2 honestly doesn't have much character at all, in my opinion- I guess he's snarky, and kind of mean, and? is sad about being dead, I guess? But he mostly acts as Klaus's conscience in s1 and honestly just a thorn in his side in s2. His only moment of true plot importance is when he speaks to Viktor and is able to calm him down, effectively stopping the apocalypse- it's an amazing scene that really utilizes Ben as a character. Which is why it sucks that he literally dies right after it, and doesn't get any other scenes like that! I understand that he's dead, and there's only so much you can do with him, but it's still a little disappointing that he has next to no character development and just serves to forward the development of a white character.

Sparrow Ben is a whole other thing- thank god he at least has some depth to his character this time! I think they did a good job making him an asshole without making him completely unlikeable, and I really loved his whole arc of just wanting to be part of the family. I think his overall writing is pretty good, even though there are some weird moments- the "open up your kimono" line is entirely unnecessary and they very well could've just said robes or something like that. The moment where Ben and Diego are arguing and they start arguing in Korean and Spanish respectively- I guess it's funny, but it also strikes me as a little off given that neither of these characters really show any connection to their cultures before this season, and having the moment with that connection be when they're angry and arguing is a questionable decision. Overall, though, I don't have any real issues with how Sparrow Ben is written. 

The scene where Ben is born and we see his parents does bug me a little bit- compared to the other birth scene (Viktor's in s1) where the mother at least get to speak, I wish they had given us any sort of character past giggling schoolgirl. I would love to just once see a depiction of a young Korean woman that isn't just cute and innocent and, well, a giggling schoolgirl. Even compared to the snippets of the other mothers that we see, the rest of them are teachers, businesswomen, or at the very least grown adults, and I just wish Ben's mother could've gotten that.

As for Lila, race feels very removed from her character in general, which can be both a strength and a weakness in the writing. It eliminates weird, uncomfortable moments like what happened with Ben, but it can also remove some depth from her character. I dislike that they really didn't address the racism an Asian woman in the 1960s would face, but I'm also glad s2 didn't just become racism trauma porn. I also dislike that you could argue that she fits the "mysterious, sneaky, fierce mistress of the East" type of stereotype with her "seducing" Diego and then double crossing the Hargreeves, but I also think her character has a lot of depth outside of that argument and she has real motives for everything she does, so I'm not too pressed about it. And I don't mind how she's written in s3, either- I think the whole Stanley plotline is weird and unnecessary, but not really in a way connected to race, it's kind of just poorly written and very poorly casted. Overall, I think the writers have done a pretty good job with Lila, but if anyone disagrees, I'd genuinely like to hear your thoughts on it (especially since I'm East Asian, not South Asian, and I'm not able to understand as much of the nuance with her character as I am with Ben).

This one isn't exactly a character, but I still want to talk about it- Hotel Oblivion. First off, I didn't even see the rising sun flag when first watching, but I can only assume that's where it appears, and I hate that a lot! That flag represent imperialism, and unless you are specifically referencing that imperialism and the flag has a real reason to be there, you should not use it. I feel like that's common sense at this point, but I guess not. Second, what was up with Hotel Oblivion in general? Why was it Japan-themed? I mean, I know why, it's Orientalism, but you could at least give it a reason in the plot. I really, really hate that the spooky alternate dimension alien mysterious version of an American place is themed around Japan. Like we get it! Hotel Oblivion is a strange, scary place, and making it Japan-themed is either implying that the East is also strange and scary, or worse, that the East is what makes a place strange and scary. 

And then there's how the fandom treats Asian characters, and I know that's not really what you were originally asking, but I feel the need to talk about it. The way the fandom treated Ben throughout s1 and s2 is fucking infuriating. Like I said earlier, even with his lack of depth, Ben's character traits were generally snarky, sarcastic, and kind of sad. So naturally, the fandom treated him like a small child! Asian men, specifically East Asian men, are constantly infantalized, and that's exactly what happened. Everyone treated Ben as this little uwu baby boy cinnamon roll and why? Genuinely when does he act all sweet and innocent, like how fans were treating him? I guess in the bank robbery scene, when he was literally a child! Gee, I wonder why people focused exclusively on that scene, rather than when he punched Klaus in the face, or any of the other scenes where Ben was an asshole- or at the very least, not a literal child. And now that s3 has come out, and Sparrow Ben is extremely explicitly rude and mean, people are finally treating him like the adult he is, and I think it says a lot about how the fandom saw him that it took his whole character becoming a total dick for them to stop woobifying him. And again, I can't really say anything about how the fandom treated Lila post-s2, because I wasn't in the fandom then, but if anyone reading this does have thoughts on it, please feel free to add them here! I haven't really seen much mistreatment of Lila post-s3, but I don't doubt at all that it existed when she was introduced. The most I've seen has been about the Stanley plotline, but that's mostly been (rightfully) making fun of the writers. 

All in all, I think the writers haven't been super explicitly racist with anything except for the whole Hotel Oblivion thing, but they have made some poor choices in their writing. The fandom has definitely been racist, but I'm hoping it's starting to improve, as I've seen more people discussing the actual nuances of Ben's character post-s3. I think some people might read this and be like "But Klaus would say that to any character! But the fandom has woobified other characters too!" to which I say, you cannot treat characters of color the same way you treat white characters. That's it. You cannot treat characters of color the same way you treat white characters. What is a silly little comment from Klaus when directed towards a white character is a weirdly racially charged comment when directed towards an Asian character. You need to be careful when writing and discussing characters of color, because there are going to be different implications to their actions and actions directed towards them. Please, please stop ignoring fans of color when we tell you that your treatment of certain characters is racist, even when it's unintentional.

The Georgiou arc!!! I already yelled about that a lot but it was incredible. Just amazing. I still can’t believe I’m gonna say I’ll miss her- but I will!- but I’m real satisfied with that “end”. a mirrorverse spinoff with her would be fucking rad though.

Saru!!! had so much character development which was so neat!! The interactions he had with the Kelpian Elder holo- god I cried when he listened to the lullaby, when the holo Elder pet his head like a child, when he in turn sang the lullaby to Su’Kal. I melted. They both deserve good things.

Adira!!! Gray!!! And Paul and Hugh’s adopting Adira!!! And Hugh getting to meet Gray in the holo program!!!! And Gray crying when Hugh hugged him omg. Yes physical contact yes being seen. Yes being terrified to return to being invisible and non-corporeal 🥲. And Adira making their pronouns known with Paul!! But only when Paul was the only one in the room! And Paul smiling and saying “Okay.” How freaking cute and kind and Real was that?? I can only assume Paul communicated this in some way to the rest of the Discovery family because they all refer to Adira as they/them from that point forward. Anyway these two characters—— these FOUR characters are everything to me (please don’t hate Michael forever I can’t take it)

On that note- MICHAEL’S ARC!!!!!!! God how do I even put that in words? Idk!! Help!!! Honestly I almost want to rewatch the whole show before diving into s4 with her as Captain. She fucking deserves it and I want to see it all over again. But that year!! That missing year of no crew no starfleet no guidelines- just no attachments? That was major for her growth. And yea, yea! She grew back into starfleet but she was better for it. I think I yelled about that a bunch more as I watched it so that’s all I got. Also can I just say? That entire last two episodes? Hoooooooly shit she’s the most badass character I’ve ever ever seen probably. Like holy cow she gets shit done and she is so goddamn clever and quick (did you see her jump that first Regulator? No you didn’t! Neither did he! She was a fucking BLUR and hit that man like A WALL)

Speaking of badasses, SYLVIA TILLY OH ACTING CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN she deserves the fucking world and a starship of her own. Oh my goodness I almost wish she hadn’t been so quick to hand command over to Michael when they all retook the ship. She was awesome, she was so badass in communications with Osyra and don’t get me started on her own plans even before they were able to communicate with/hear Michael. Also- the morse code bit? The fake argument to overtake the Regulators? “What were you saying?” “I was telling him to keep tapping” slayed me.

On a similar but unrelated to the movie note, can we just talk about how toa started with Jim having 0 dads and (if strickler and blinky live to the end) will end with 2 dads? Episode 4

If you read this post here and this answer to an ask then you already know I talked about Macaque’s shenanigans in this episode and that alone makes me happy since it gives depth to Macaque more then just “I don’t like Wu Kong Fuck y’all lol” 

But also I’m super content that Mei wasn’t a deus ex machina in this episode, in the end it still returned to MK eventually pulling his shit together and getting him and his friends away from Macaque. Imma be honest as soon as Mei pulled out her dragon sword I was like welp ig we’re gonna have a Mei vs Macaque episode and then I’ll be off BUT NOPE

Mei got Macaque to actually bust out his mummy shadow giant thing and Sandy showed off again how fucking awesome he is.

Only after both of his friends at least got a chance to fight Macaque was MK forced to do something, which was hurting Macaque where it hurts o7

I have absolutely no excuse, I just love Red Son especially when he interacts with MK LMAO

Bc like Red Son BACKSTORY- and also Red Son with his hair down is- literally fucking amazing then also spicynoodles food is always appreciated

I literally memorized the whole episode in Chinese since I was using the subbed Chinese version to translate it myself (to test my knowledge of the language and whatnot).

It got taken down on YouTube though and I spent a whole week cursing myself for not downloading it RIP

Episode 8

I actually used to feel indifferent about this episode but once my focus drifted not only to Monkie Kid but ALSO to Journey of the West I became super intrested in this one specifically.

Essentially, I really like Macaque character development, in Monkie Kid the show, but after I learned more (read: remembered all the stuff about JTTW after I hyper-fixated on it a few years ago) about Zhu Ba Jie, Tripitaka, and Sandy I was like- Bro these characters kinda banging actually.

So long story short I grew fond of the message in the story and how Tang handles himself.

The scene where everything comes to a head and Tang gives his speech while Pigsy starts singing (OH MY FUCKING GOD PIGSY SINGING THOUGH HOLY SHIT EVERYTIME IT’S LIKE JFC MANS GOT BARS AND HE’S AN ABSOLUTE LEGEND FFFF-) is my favorite, especially since Macaque gets left behind and gets incapacitated by the electricity.

Idk why but having Macaque get held back by that specific reason is like wrapping up a story all nice a neat with a bow y’know? Like it wasn’t ‘Oh noooo, Tang suddenly awoke these strange powers and Macaque was no match for them’ or ‘Ohhh nooo, Macaque let him go because he was moved by Tang’s speech’ (LMAO yeah right).

It was ‘well because of the conduction of electricity through the metal wiring of the lantern when Macaque’s body came in contact with the metal the electricity also flowed through him, not hurting him but instead paralyzing him making Tang able to get away’

I like logical explanations what can I say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

Then of course I can’t forget about...

If we take in the calculation of how many months S1 took to film and in post-production. My guess would be October!

2. What episode will Simon and Wilhelm have their first s2 kiss (who will initiate the kiss)?

I think episode 3. I have seen the majority saying it will be Simon but I honestly think it will be Wilhelm who will initiate the kiss. Because think about it and... AND even Edvin himself said when Wilhelm was walking towards the car in the last episode all he wanted to do was turn back and run to Simon and kiss him. Also, it was Simon who broke off their relationship so it will be weird for Simon to initiate the kiss and it will go against the strong will he showed(about him not agreeing to become Wilhelm secret) and it will be meaningful for Wilhelm to initiate the kiss for the first time in S2. Because this time it will mean that he is ready to have a proper relationship with Simon and he needs him in his life and he will fight for him. No more secrecy.

3. How will Simon find out about August being behind the leak?

Probably by accident…or maybe Felicia will tell him during a workies idk…but I am sure it will not be Willie or Sara (how many times the cast mentioned they wanted more dramas and this can create a perfect storm) and when Simon will find out the two people he cares for hiding this from him all hell will break loose. Especially when he will see August not getting punished for it. I feel like we might see violent Simon again.

4. Will there be snow in s2?

Have zero ideas about Sweden but maybe??

5. Will there be any physical fight (if yes, who will be involved)?

Yes, as I said in my answer to the previous question when Simon will find out it was August… Oh boy, it will get UGLY… Violent Simon will make a reappearance

For god’s sake, I hope NO! Listen, I am not a political girl but what all I know or see is that most of the time lgbtq+ people making sacrifices or have to choose…WHY!! Why can’t he be with Simon and be an amazing king to his people? I don’t want him to abdicate rather I want him to become a King who will go down in history as one of the kindest and amazing person who fought and would do so much for people no matter what their race or ethnicity or sexuality is. And in S3 we will probably get more of the boys being sickeningly in love and that time the possibility of exchanging clothes will be high (I honestly think there will be a season 3)

13. Will Sara speak any Spanish?

I honestly don’t know…

14. Will Simon become aware of Wilhelm’s anxiety?

I really do hope so and I wish to see Wilhelm seeing someone for his anxiety especially now that he doesn’t have Erik and Simon in his life

Even though I have no idea what direction this season will go I, personally, feel like this season is not perfect for these words but I am sure they are going to make either Simon or Wilhelm say those words to make us fans go crazy. They will have to throw a bone at us after probably making us cry in every episode.

20. How many times will we see Simon eat pasta?

I will NEVER forget when I was first watching bnha s3 and Shigaraki was asking Bakugou to join them and I literally said out loud to myself "oh god this is the Sasuke leaves the village moment oh NO" and like my whole life flashed before my eyes. And then Bakugou DIDNT and I then 180'd on Bakugou almost immediately (I hadn't really liked him up to that point). Especially then when Aizawa says "Bakugou would never" to the press I felt like I was CALLED OUT by Horikoshi specifically it was AMAZING

@firstofa mentioned in the tags of their reblog that there was a joint interview with Horikoshi and Kishimoto in which Horikoshi more or less admitted that Bakugou and Deku’s relationship was a SasuNaru fix-it, so I immediately went “!!��� and went googling to see if that was true lol. and lo and behold I actually did find an interview that the two of them did back in 2015, which was translated/summarized this past June on twitter here.

he doesn’t actually say outright that it’s a SasuNaru fix-it, but I thought this part of it was very telling:

The interviewer asks what Horikoshi thought of Naruto and Sasuke's rivalry, and Horikoshi says it was frustrating. Horikoshi says he really liked the "Valley of the End" and thought that would be the end of the series.

“frustrating”, lol. yeah I’ll say. AND he thought the Valley of the End (a.k.a. the big fight that Naruto and Sasuke have right before the timeskip, for anyone who’s not familiar with the series) was going to be the end of the series, meaning that like so many of us, he was expecting Naruto to win the fight and bring Sasuke back home again.

and so yeah, I’m gonna go ahead and say this more or less confirms that least part of Bakugou and Deku’s relationship came about from Horikoshi’s desire to write a non-frustrating version of the Naruto and Sasuke rivalry. like you said, with the “kidnapped Bakugou” plot especially, if you’ve read Naruto there is basically no way to NOT immediately make that connection to the “Sasuke leaves Konoha” arc. it’s clear as day. Horikoshi really went “AND THAT’S HOW IT’S DONE” and dropped the mic, and then All Might and Aizawa came back and picked up the mic so they could talk about how Bakugou was actually a good kid who was going to become a great hero, thank you very much.

and after doing some more reflecting about all this, I’m starting to think this might be why I have so much faith in Horikoshi’s ability to write Bakugou and Deku’s character arcs, and faith that those arcs will be fulfilling and satisfying. few things fill me with more confidence in a writer than hearing that they also get frustrated by the same things that I find frustrating. and so I may not be 100% sure about where he’s going to take their relationship from here, but I DO know with near-certainty what he is NOT going to do. this man gets fed up with the exact same miscommunication bullshit tropes that we do lol. and so god help him but his characters are going to get their heads out of their asses and communicate with each other, and never double back on their hard-earned character development. and it’s just so, so refreshing not to have to worry about that, and I will never stop appreciating it.

yeah, that's a good point. that episode was pretty serious compared to a lot of the others, and you're totally right, it would've been interesting to see more of that, especially with Tracy considering all of her trauma? Like, even TSOTB didn't REALLY do too much with Tracy. I remember being shocked when I reread the TSOTB book and picked up on the fact that Tracy was being physically abused by her mum's boyfriend and THAT's more the reason she got put into care. but the show never even really hinted at that. and then TBR just kind of continue the theme of making Tracy the comic relief without ever touching on her trauma.

that's perfectly fair. sometimes that kind of personality just doesn't meld well with others, so it's entirely reasonable that you don't like her. she is QUITE self-absorbed but I always kind of put that down to the way her mum was, too? a lot of the way that Carmen acts is the same as how she says her mum was, but the main problem is that you're right, the writers don't give her any kind of development or growth beyond like two throwaway episodes (see: the one where she becomes Harry's 'mum' and treats him horribly when Rick comes back and she realizes she's doing exactly what her mum did to her, and the episode where she's trying to get fostered by the footballer and his wife and ends up turning them down to prove to Bailey that she's better than her mum). while I do quite like Carmen, I also really wish the writers cared more. she is constantly called out by other characters for being self-absorbed (the episode where she's trying to learn science experiments for that job and ends up ruining Jody and Kaz's project and completely ignoring Floss, who was visibly upset for like the entire episode), and she has the big moment at the end of these episodes where it SEEMS like maybe she'll have some growth but she just. doesn't. and it's really disappointing on the writer's part.

oh, the relationship between Mike and Tracy makes me all warm and fuzzy. because we know that Tracy never really craved or missed having a father figure in her life. she never reflected on her terrible step-dad and wished she had a better one, and she never openly talked about waiting for her dad to come and find her like she constantly did with her mum. and I think, like she says to Mike in her last episode of tbr, that's because since the moment she went into care, she had Mike. and that just makes me feel all of the feelings !! I just love dad!Mike!!

yeah, it does bother me that Elektra is made out to be the bad guy in that episode because it was pretty clear that Carmen was in the wrong when she was being all nice and friendly to Elektra and gave her the necklace, only to take it all back the second she heard that Lily was coming back. she just dumped Elektra on the spot (which, actually, I'm realizing again comes back to her mum, and raises a really interesting parallel to her dumping Harry the moment that Rick came back into the picture...), so of course Elektra got upset. she also didn't go about it the right way, obviously, because they're both just kids and they don't really know how to handle emotions. I dunno, the writers make some interesting (and sometimes questionable) choices.

TYLER IS SO TINY!!!!

the Burnywood storyline was one of the best and it is very iconic of that care home to have given us (even if only briefly for three of them) some very iconic characters. I'm happy we got to keep Rick and Tyler but I am also a bit mad that we didn't get to keep Kitty, too, or as you said, at least get more of an explanation for her storyline. she was our second mostly non-verbal character, possibly with severe trauma, possibly autistic, and I just really think there was a lot more they could've done with her character.

i know a lot of motis shippers are freaking out and scared and perhaps this is just me trying to be positive but i do not think the writers would throw away 3 seasons of development for a ship that was together for..one episode? i mean, officially together. yes, i know r*tis became incredibly popular (they’re sadly overhyped) but maeve and otis have built up so much together in 3 seasons and while i am not exactly satisfied with what we got in season 3 (definitely excepted MUCH more seeing how the screeners described their scenes) their relationship has grown. they have a very deep and emotional connection. they know each other better than anyone. they believe in each other and their capacities and they don’t need to change into someone else. the only reason otis got with r*by, following the signals the show gave, was because he thought maeve didn’t want him in his life anymore and because she thought casual sex wasn’t his “thing.” throughout their whole “relationship”, i don’t think otis has ever stopped thinking about maeve and how SHE made him feel. it would be incredibly rushed and unrealistic if they went back to otis and r*by after otis told jean, his MUM, that maeve is his person. after he told maeve how he only did the clinic to be close to her. after he told maeve - not once but two times - he LOVES her. i mean even aimee and eric mentioned multiple times how they’re in love. i do believe otis and maeve are meant to be and i feel like even if they don’t end up together before the show ends, they will eventually come back to each other. they always do. the point is: the show, through the scenes, the songs and their lyrics (ex: when they’re destroying the bathrooms in ep 1 s3 the lyrics at some point goes “i love you” and we see otis looking at maeve and she looks back at him when the lyrics says once again “i love you”), through the characters interactions made pretty clear maeve and otis are meant to be and laurie said in different interviews that she was happy they were finally in a good place. i just hope season 4 shows us their dynamic as couple because the writers are perfectly capable to make people come back on motis side if they want to. anyways yeah, i just hope what i said makes sense and brought some hope to motis fans? 🥺 i just hate seeing people being so sad and scared about what’s gonna happen to them. love you besties! you got this xx

ps i know so many people think otis doesn’t deserve r*by but it’s the other way around for me lol. i think otis deserves much better than her. he deserves someone who isn’t ashamed to be with him and who treats him right. someone who doesn’t need to change him in order to be in a relationship with him and in my opinion r*by isn’t nor will ever be that person. i do NOT like her and i don’t think i ever will but i hope she grows and became a better person because it’s getting quite annoying the fact that she bullies people, calls maeve names and stuff. this is officially the end of my big rant. thank you for reading all of this 😭

Hi lovely anon and oh my god I wish I could be as positive as you are. Like an emotional side of my brain is like YEAH they wouldn't throw all of this away just for a couple of scenes and yet... the writers always find ways to fuck them up which scares me endlessly... add to the mix Emma kind of wanting to leave and I just don't know where we motis nation are supposed to be standing on now. I'm genuinely scared about what the future might hold for them and I think that even if they finally get their happy ending and please god let that be true, I think people will not even care anymore and I can't understand how or why. It just makes me so so sad. But I HOPE you're right and a side of me definitely agrees with you, the other side desperately wants to agree with you.

HECK YEAH alrighty here we go then! 1. Broadly: what do you predict we'll see from Klaus in s3? I know you've mentioned him snapping a bit- what're your thoughts on what that might entail? (1/?)

I think that Klaus is experiencing his first full moment of independence, especially power independence, at the same time he is experiencing extreme emotional turmoil. They’ve told us that alcohol (at east) does jack shit to prevent his powers. I think that he has spent a long, long time with people who (IMO) do care about him, but don’t think about him all that often. “Klaus is still Klau” as a modus operandi for the entire family, at least at default. Now he no longer has a Powerful or Moral (although I have my problems with this interpretation) Ben to lean on, I think we’re gonna see a Klaus who is coming into his own, who is hurting deeply in ways the sibling do not (and possibly cannot, Klaus lies and masks A LOT) know, and who feels that the turmoil inside of him belongs outside. 

2. Do you expect to see Klaus’ powers expanded on in s3, and if so, how do you think they’ll go about that? I think levitation and telekinesis would be amazing but seeing as they’ve already given those away to his siblings, I don’t think it’s all that likely. I love your clairvoyance theory (more on that shortly), and I've been playing with the idea of a telepath or empath Klaus, something akin to his "channeling" powers from the comics. (2/?)

I think that probably the primary thing in store for Klaus is commanding ghosts and being possessed. These play together interestingly and are both extremely powerful. He can command an army without a second thought, and they listen to him, but also if he slips up they can jump in his body, he’s gone and they’re in charge. It’s an interesting and fruitful dichotomy and power structure. Also I think he can make ghosts possess other people. They made a big point of showing that Klaus was conscious before Ben entered Vanya’s mind. If he can command spirits, and spirits can possess other people that is a great deal of power. (Also, like, Klaus is able to make Ben not possess him. Neither of them may know it, but he DOES command spirits. He does.)

As to his comic powers, I think we may very well get them!! They’ve teased levitation multiple times in s2 alone, and I think this idea that a show about shitty superheroes would care if their powers were redundant does not quite vibe with me. Like, what’s the point of Luther if Vanya can stop bullets and lift a tank with sound waves. Klaus’s version of TK could EASILY have its own niche (no need for a trajectory or sound waves). I don’t want to promise that it’s coming because, like, focusing on his psychic related powers is more cohesive, but I don’t think that the option is in any way off the board. 

3. If they go ahead and give him clairvoyance, how would you like to see that play out? 4. Similarly, do you think his possession powers will be explored further in s3? (3/?)

I think that giving him clairvoyance would be a very handy plot device on top of being interesting for the character. Klaus’s powers have pushed him to the extremes of apathy. Imagine what that would look like if he has the capacity to know everything? He is a person who deals with the hurt of others by denying everything. He has had too much asked of his empathy and compassion. Giving him clairvoyance gives him access to all the hurt in the world. I would love to see that. I would love to see his brain forcing him to care about people because in this particular regard he CAN 100% help. 

Yes absolutely I think his possession powers will be explored further. I know this is a controversial subject, but I think the show took care to make it clear that is is awful and terrifying for him (however it was for Ben) and that it plays interestingly with his ability to summon and command spirits. It serves as a way to even the playing field, almost. He command them, they can take him over. That’s scary for everyone. I don’t think this is one and done at all. 

4. I would LOVE to hear more about your thoughts on Hotel Oblivion's influence on TUA s3- disclaimer, I haven't read the comics (yet). (4/?)

YES OKAY. Based on my own personal desires and my knowledge of the comics (Sparrows locked up) and also the Sparrow crest, I think s3 is going to include at least some of Team Zero locked in the hotel. It could EASILY be all of them, but I could see Reg deciding to keep Five, and even Vanya. This would be interesting because it allows Five to age, allows Five to rest, allows Vanya to see the horrors of actually BEING on a super hero team, and requires 1-4 to save themselves, and in my IDEAL world, save Five from Reg, as well. It would be so fun to watch 1-4 escape the hotel and rescue Five. IMO the hotel is going to be the best if it is treated as a piece of horror. Not something they can understand, something simultaneously enticing and hostile, and something that they have to fight their individual Bullshits to escape. Whoever is in it. I think that would be beautiful. 

5. How would you like to see Klaus' character develop this season? Seeing as s2 has left him unprecedentedly broken, I think this will lead to an AMAZING pay off in s3, esp when it comes to him being without Ben. His powers have so much potential (even w/o the comic book expansion pack) but they have all have come back to Ben's help. This is true of his choices too- Ben is constantly supporting/criticizing him. I'm so excited to see him alone and newly independent. (5/?)

YES SO MUCH. We watch Klaus shatter and regress completely in s2. I know a lot of people feel he wasn’t treated with respect by the narrative, and I respect that, but my general thinking is that this is a part of the whole, and everything we saw of him is in line with a) intense hurt b) the act he puts on. I think that Klaus shattered in s2. He killed the love of his life, he relapsed, and he did his best to make sure nobody cares about him. Ben turned into more of a harmful figure in his life than ever before, and now he’s lost him completely, left with only guilt, resentment, and complicated feelings. 

I think Klaus is going to actually have to DEAL with himself. He’s been able to deflect or hide or bury his hurt and his power and everything else. Like you said, he relied on Ben for a lot, and now it is only him. I think he is going to externalize the chaos he feels inside (and so does Sheehan), and I think he is going to have to confront who Klaus REALLY is, whatever that means. I think he will admit he is powerful, he is hurt, and he is angry. Ultimately, I think this will lead to him with more balance, and he will have a better understanding of himself. But I think he MUST snap a bit first. Nobody takes him seriously, not even himself. He has to change that before he can move on. 

6. How would you like to see Klaus' relationships with his siblings grow this season? I am wondering how him mourning Ben will be received by his siblings. I am also thinking a lot about whether him hitting rock bottom & truly alone for the first time will push him to be more vulnerable and open with his siblings OR if it'll be his breaking point where he shutters out everything he can, emotions and more OR a mix of both. (6/?)

This is a really good question. I’m not at all sure I have a definitive answer, but here I am typing anyway. I think the obvious setup of the first 2 seasons is that everyone thinks Klaus is fine, and that he can Manage, whatever that looks like. This includes Klaus. So my Most Fruitful Idea is to show that he isn’t fine, in a way he cannot hide. I feel like possession could be a good start to this, but so could him diminishing in his ability to respect ghosts, or many other things. Basically, I want the siblings to see through Klaus’s act. None of them, fucking none of them, ever have. He’s done his best to make that the case. I want the act to spread thin in s3, which I think is supported by how the act looks in s2, and I want the sibs to see through it finally, and I want it to be almost too late because he’s lost and angry and goddamn POWERFUL and he knows them in ways they have never known him. 

Also, I like the idea of Klaus and Allison snapping together. They are the two who lack hope, the two who accept as a blanket the end of the world, the two who enable each other, and also the two who bonded with Vanya. Seeing them go down a dark path, and seeing Vanya recognize it and help them stray away from it? Amazing. 

7. Any songs you would love to see in s3? (7/7) Sorry for the IMMENSE amount of questions, comments, and concerns, I have been pondering these things for weeks and since I always adore your tua content, I would love to hear your thoughts and any input from others!!

I also love the idea of ANY Masseduction by St. Vincent song, but I would especially nominate Masseduction, Young Lover, and Happy Birthday Johnny.

Castlevania S4 Spoilers under the cut

Okay, so I have thoughts, good and bad, I want to get out

first off: can we all just acknowledge what we all kinda knew, which is that the pacing of this season sucked ass, oh my GOD

not to be dramatic, but quite literally, the first episode ended and i literally paused it and just stared at my tv and said out loud “that’s it?? nothing even happened??” like, the pacing was just the actual worst this season tbh, for pretty much every single plotline

i really hated hector and lenore’s relationship bc it was portrayed way too romantically despite the fact that she literally raped and abused him. sorry, i’m not going to be sad that she died, i was hoping isaac would kill her tbh

striga and morana are badasses and so cool?? im glad that they left and went on to live their own lives

but also carmilla’s last fight kicks ass and i think her going out on her terms was amazing and i really liked her as a villain and man

but isaac stole the show for me, like everything about his arc was perfect!! the fight scenes, the development, his relationship with hector, his decision for the future, the growth, just everything. my only wish is that we got to see him living in his future after the battle but i loved it.

speaking of forgemasters, hector finally got a break this season!! i loved his friendship with isaac, but i absolutely adored how he was taking a stand and plotting on how to carry out his own plan. his willingness to die for his mistakes/isaac’s revenge and the depths he’d go for it was great and i’m glad that he finally got his freedom

trevor and sypha and alucard finally reuniting made me so happy, they immediately just fought together and it was the actual best part of the season, no doubt.

i do wish that it hadn’t taken until the very end of the season tho, their relationship is one of the best things about the show and we didnt get to see it at all for s3 and most of s4.

tbh, i felt alucard’s story arcs got glossed over in general tho. we didn’t get much of a resolution on his relationship with trevor and sypha (even tho we were reminded of his loneliness thru the dolls towards the end). his trauma or any possible dark moments were completely skipped over in regards to sumi and taka, which was a cop-out. and im just gonna say it, i feel like his ship tease with greta was really forced and the “orphans calling him father” thing was just weird, especially bc he’s still basically a teenager himself

greta was really cool tho and i think she’s a badass, but i don’t ship them, i like them as friends.

i think my biggest thing is that s3 ended up being largely pointless for the ot3, and it sucks that we didn’t get to see more of them together in the last season :(

but last thing: dracula and lisa are alive!! and i’m v happy about that, but also go visit your son, ffs, his face when he saw them broke me nside

and to be honest i was not vibing with the second season at first (probably, for sure..ly bc of what happened to my kings in s1. all these new characters were being introduced, i felt like pure shit just wanted them back. i couldnt properly enjoy it) also the whole.. fantasy thing.... is not my thing... idk... from the start, when i saw the fucking wand i wanted to scream dlkjas i knew it wasnt going to be for me. but i think it got better as it went on, it just didnt captivate me like the plot from s1. i didnt follow it as well? i enjoyed how i could easily pick up the little clues in s1 but tbh i think that just reflects dirk's state cuz we sorta follow his pov... he was v e r y lost during s2 and that rubbed on me!!! i didnt enJOYYYY ONE BITTT SEEING HIMMM SO FUCKING SAD... he was just sad and freaking out and he just needed a friend >:( and todd ugh he pissed me off a lot of the time dlkajskl........... ill never forget him saying dirk deserved to be alone 🚶‍♂️being a dirkette isnt easy.

but anyways its not like s2 was bad and dumb (im editing this and i just remember them trying to make todd/farah a thing. absolutely loathed that. that was bad and dumb. faratina for the win), the weird stuff did make sense in the end. of course thats what a child would imagine, even the scissors as weapons made sense. aND AMBOOLENTS. IDK IF U REMEMBER THAT BUT GOD IT MADE ME LAUGH SO MUCH. also suzie was a good villain and tina and hobbs were amazing 🥰aGAIN I WAS SO READY FOR ONE OR BOTH OF THEM TO DIE.... no this fear really ruined things for me lkdjalsk.... oh mona !!! lOVE HER TOO! shes so pretty, first of all. when i saw her glowing eyes in the first ep i was like heyyyy 💕ANyways her character???? like?? so interesting??? not knowing who shes supposed to be?!?!?! i got hooked right awayyyy when she said that
