Poki és a webes játékok

Az elmúlt pár hónapban - amíg a Boba Tea Merge készült -, megnéztem, hogy milyen lehetőségek vannak a mobilon kívül más platformokon. Mivel alapvetően azt gondolom, hogy a piackutatás alapjaiban határozza meg egy játék sikerét, vagy kudarcát, így csak adatokkal alátámasztva van értelme a piacelemzésnek. Ezért még az év elején írtam egy site crawler scriptet, ami leszedte a poki.com-ról mind a 2128 webes játék adatait…

Miért volt erre szükség? Mert az oldalon fellelhető adatok elemzésével nagyon sok következtetés levonható, hogy melyik játék hogyan teljesít, melyik játékkategória a legnépszerűbb az oldalon, melyik a legdinamikusabban növekvő játék. A platform 65 millió havi felhasználóval, 5 millió napi felhasználóval és havi 700 millió játékmenettel rendelkezik. A demográfiai adatok alapján a Poki látogatóinak 47%-a férfi és 53%-a nő, a legnagyobb látogatói szegmens pedig a 25-34 éves korosztály. Ez utóbbi különösen fontos információ a célközönség meghatározásának szempontjából, illetve annak az eldöntésében, hogy milyen jellegű játékokat készítsünk a platformra.

A Poki felületén elérhető adatok önmagukban nem elegendőek ahhoz, hogy teljes képet kapjunk egy-egy játék vagy kategória teljesítményéről. Az oldal által közölt statisztikák alapszintűek, és nem adnak mély betekintést a bevételi modellekbe vagy a játékok relatív sikerességébe. Azonban pontos bevételi adat pár játék esetén elérhető (pontosabban session count és ebből származó bevétel), így nagyon jó közelítéssel meg lehet határozni a játékok like számából, hogy mennyi összbevételt termelt. Ha ezt két időpont között megvizsgáljuk, akkor a bevétel havi nagysága és ütemének változása is elég jó közelítéssel meghatározható.

Alapvetően két dologra voltam kíváncsi. Egyrészt, hogy a Boba Tea Merge konkurensei hogyan teljesítenek a platformon, másrészt hosszabb távon milyen játékot lenne érdemes készítenünk, ami itt, mobilon és Switch-en is jól teljesíthet. Mivel a legtöbb platform hit-driven, így a Pokin is megfigyelhető, hogy egy-egy kategórián belül a legjobban teljesítő játékok 20%-a viszi a bevétel 80%-át. Ez a drop merge játékok esetén kb. havi $4700-$4800-t jelent a legjobban-, havi $1500-$2000-t a közepesen- és $300-$500-t a gyengébben teljesítő játékoknál. A második esetben megnéztem a top játékokat, az összesített bevételek alapján, amiből ráadásul az egyik szintén Defolddal készült. Ez a játék - teljes életciklust tekintve - rövidesen eléri az 1 millió dolláros szintet és havonta kb. $7000-t tesz hozzá a bevételeihez.

Mivel a webes játékokra elsősorban plusz bevételi forrásként tekintek a mobil és konzol mellett, így az alapvető cél az lenne a következő egy-két évben, hogy kialakítsunk egy olyan portfóliót a poki.com-on, ami elér pár ezer dollár havi bevételt. Ez 4-5 játékkal egy reális, elérhető célnak tűnik.
