hey while i'm on the "post about artist collectives" train, might as well talk about my indie animation studio -3-

looking for interested folks for DHJ! there's no skill requirement, and while you don't get paid, you do get to work on all parts of the animation pipeline in a semi-professional environment :o) and if you've always wanted to learn animation, i teach people!

our current short is about a baby star's adventure through space, called starbaby! we're in the boarding process rn <3

currently rlly looking for people who would be really motivated to work on this as an ongoing thing, shoot me a message if you're interested <3 work is limited to a cut per week, so max drawings you'd be doing would be 10-ish (and only lines OR color, not both).

[Description: a crisp early morning in late autumn. It is a bit chilly, though not unpleasantly so; and it is very windy. Dried leaves and small twigs occasionally tumble about in the air. The long grass of the field is a pale gold, and it sways in rippling waves. A shepherd is leading their flock of sheep across the field, heading into the wind. The shepherd wears a sensible hat and a long cloak. The hem of their cloak is tugged about in the strong gusts of wind, but their torso is kept nice and warm.

They reach the ridgeline of a hill, and the shepherd gestures with their crook for the sheep to continue onward. The scene shifts to view the other side of the hill from a distance. The shepherd stands on the ridgeline, silhouetted against the steel-blue sky, as the sheep crest over the ridge and make their way downhill. They speed up as the going gets easier and they are eager to graze. From this distance, they seem almost like happy, bouncing cottonballs slowly tumbling over the hillside. The long grass glints in the early sunlight, and the gusts of wind make it bend and ripple in great rushing, sweeping waves.

The animation style is charming and seems deceptively simple, but in fact conveys small details of movement that are very well observed. There is a sense of familiarity and peacefulness.

I’ve always wanted to animate something sheep-related and here it is.

There will be more, but animation is very time consuming.

I based this on a comic I saw on tumblr and obviously on the characters and setting of the "Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want To Be A Magical Girl" pilot animatic by Kiana Khansmith.
