Hardstuck in Valorant

Ich habe vor einem Monat meine Masterarbeit abgegeben. Danach fühlte ich mich irgendwie leer. Plötzlich nicht mehr unter Perma-Stress zu leiden war neu für mich. Also, was jetzt mit der ganzen verfügbaren Zeit anfangen? Genau, ein neues Game wäre doch was, dachte ich. Den einzigen FPS, den ich bisher gespielt hatte, war Overwatch. Es hat drei Jahre gedauert, mich von Bronze zu Diamond zu spielen. Bei Valorant kann mir das ja nicht passieren, dachte ich. 

Ich war also ziemlich confident, als der Download von Valorant fertig war und ich das Game zum ersten Mal startete. Meiner Begeisterung folgte ein kurzer Dämpfer wegen des obligatorischen Tutorials, durch das ich mich kämpfen musste. Als ich also die erste richtige Runde gestartet hatte, wollte ich natürlich schnell alle Heads clicken, wie man so schön sagt. Aber weit gefehlt. Stattdessen wurde mein Head die ganze Zeit geklickt. Ihr könnt euch vorstellen, warum das nicht so viel Spaß gemacht hat. 

Der Grund, warum ich so schlecht war: Overwatch basiert sehr auf Movement. Dein Aim bleibt gleich (schlecht), egal wie sehr du dich bewegst. In Valorant jedoch fängt deine Waffe an zu sprayen und du verfehlst gefühlt jeden Shot. Nicht so cool, glaubt mir. Es stimmt jedenfalls, dass Valorant vom Gameplay sehr and CS:Go erinnert (mit dem ich übrigens nie richtig warm geworden bin), aber irgendwie macht es mir, obwohl ich die ganze Zeit auf die Fresse bekomme, mega viel Spaß. Die ganzen Agents (nicht Heroes, wie sie in Overwatch heißen, und nicht Champions, wie sie in League heißen - kann sich das irgendjemand richtig merken? Ich benenne die Charaktere grundsätzlich falsch) haben alle unterschiedliche Fähigkeiten und ich will alle ausprobieren und kennenlernen. 

Bevor ich überhaupt die Namen der Agents kannte, queute ich mein erstes Competitive-Game und... verlor es direkt. Ich glaube, meine Mates waren etwas angesäuert und ich wurde (zu Recht) ziemlich geflamed. Nach Bangen und (zugegebenermaßen wenig) Hoffen poppte mein erster Rang auf: Bronze 1. Kurz fragte ich mich, ob die 1 etwas Gutes bedeutete, wurde dann aber rasch enttäuscht. 3 ist offensichtlich besser als 1. Nach der Ernüchterung also erst mal etliche Guides angesehen und es nach 4 Wochen geschafft, mich in Silber hochzuspielen. Sehr schön. Diamond next?

People who are smug about their skill in ovw are the same ones who are low gm and smurf in plat and diamond because they can’t feed their own ego when getting dunked on by players of their own skill level

once again at a crossroads wrt achille's dad takami and his part in the story. I've been tumbling a few ideas in my head that all involve him being either:

kami/yokai/god in disguise (the details are difficult to pin down)

auspice who takes on human form that was exiled from the east (somehow, but explains how achille can harness the elements with no prior knowledge)

dark geomancer who wields lightning, either through training, soul stone, or by birth (promising but not fleshed out)

all of these are decent ideas but I fall short in the execution. from the start achille has weather-related abilities due to being naturally aligned to wind and lightning aether. I could say this was the result of tauvane's dragon blood consumption, but achille didn't actually inherit any of the powers or looks of a dragon (no scales or the like), and he cannot transform like tauvane can. he's a bit like rielle in that regard. however, I have always imagined achille transforming into some manner of creature when his life is endangered (or being overwhelmed by aramitama like the four lords), and mount rokkon gave me inspiration for that

another issue I'm having is trying to explain how and why tauvane met takami in the first place. originally she fled eorzea altogether to hide from the halonic inquisition because they were hunting her down for her crimes against ishgard early in her career. though it doesn't make sense to me that she would travel all the way east, lay low for however long, and then go back knowing that she'll be killed (maybe I'm overthinking it). I tried to create scenarios where takami made his way west but they fell flat as well

since I accidentally made achille look so much like his mom I'm still trying to give him an inkling of resemblance to his dad but I keep hitting brick walls. it would be funny if takami turns out to be just a regular guy with no superpowers though

Peak moment playing Comp is waiting for the other dps to switch off of Hanzo and yoinking him to play, and immediately getting multi-kills, which the original player on Hanzo then says "Oh, you're a pretty good Hanzo!" I'm like

He also wanted to check out my skin but I only use the default OW2 look. 😂 Sometimes the Wave or Scion if I'm feeling fancy...
