This was a really heartwarming finale. That flustered look on Emi’s face when Maou touched her was so cute. I still like Chiho more, but I don’t dislike her like I used to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Final battle was a little underwhelming tbh. I thought it would be more of a struggle considering where it left off in the last episode.. even the Olba fight from s1 was better.. but I still really liked the Ente Isla arc. It’s been hyped up for so long, so to be able to see their home world, even if only briefly, was nice. Not sure how much source material is left, but it would be cool if we went between worlds a little more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The scene of everyone gathered around the dinner table for a family meal made up for the unimpressive battle. Everyone is finally back together. Emi’s gonna have to get a new job though 😂
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This season has been my favourite of the 3 so far. I liked the character dynamics, budding romance and the more magical element of the story a lot more in this one.
All of the characters went through quite a bit of growth this season, Suzuno, Maou and Emi most notably and it was just a fun ride. I know the hype has died out for this series, but it’s solid for me.

MY TOP ANIME FOR SUMMER 2022
Summer season is almost over and so are some of the anime series that I've watched for these past 3 months! There's not much "mainstream" anime this season which gave opportunity to some series. I tend to give almost every series a try anyway and these are some that I enjoyed watching.
6. HATARAKU MAOU-SAMA!! [THE DEVIL IS A PART-TIMER! 2ND SEASON]
Tumblr media
I loved the first season of this anime so I already have some bias regarding this series. I'm even reading the manga so I kinda have some idea of what to expect with the anime. This would have ranked higher but I didn't like the animation that much compared with the first season. I guess that's bound to happen if it took almost a decade to create the next season. Another bias? Voice actor. I love Maou's seiyuu, Oosaka Ryouta. Yes, I've watched a lot of anime simply because of the seiyuu, so sue me!
5. ORIENT: AWAJISHIMA GEKITOU-HEN
Tumblr media
The author of this series is the same author of Magi, Ohtaka Shinobu. As for me, I haven't watched Magi yet so I'm not expecting anything from this anime when I first started watching the first season. I only realized these shows were made by the same author when I read the manga. I prefer the art style of the manga way better but anime also did not disappoint in my opinion. I also love Naotora and Kanetatsu so there's that. I read some reviews saying they got disappointed midway because they were expecting it would be as good as Magi. But I've only watched 2 or 3 episodes of Magi and kinda stopped so this didn't stop me from continuing watching the anime and even reading the manga.
4. ISEKAI OJISAN [UNCLE FROM ANOTHER WORLD]
Tumblr media
I already got hooked on the first episode and I am still waiting for the next episode to come for this series. I'm not a gamer and I'm not even familiar with what they're talking about when it comes to games but I still enjoyed it anyway. I guess this is one of the reasons why I loved it. It doesn't alienate people who are not familiar with the game jargon as it also focuses on Ojisan's journey in the alternate world. Also, Ojisan's interactions with the female characters from the other world are pure gold and definitely hilarious. Despite some tragic experiences here and there, the series managed to present them in a manner that would not make you feel depressed.
3. YOFUKASHI NO UTA [ CALL OF THE NIGHT]
Tumblr media
I was already reading the manga when I learned that this will get animated. The night sceneries in the anime were so epic in every episode. The atmosphere kinda reminds me of Bakemonogatari series. I like the relationship between the main characters and I can kinda relate to the male protagonist. The story features vampires but it's not really something that can be compared to other vampire stories. Yes, Kou wants to be a vampire but he can only be one if he falls in love with Nazuna, which is a challenge because he's yet to experience it for the first time. Nazuna's past hasn't been revealed yet and I also stopped reading the manga. I will probably continue after the anime ends.
2. YOUKOSO JITSURYOKU SHIJOU SHUGI NO KYOUSHITSU E 2ND SEASON [CLASSROOM OF THE ELITE 2ND SEASON]
Tumblr media
I already fell in love with this series when I watched the first season and I'm really thankful that the second season was made. If you've watched the first season, you already know that the male lead, Ayanokouji is trying to hide what he is truly capable of. He's quite a strategist and manipulative but his severe lack of emotion is what makes him a very interesting character. The anime only managed to show some glimpses of his past and some of the other students in Class D so I'm still dying to know if this is his nature or simply what he became due to his environment. I'd probably plan to read the light novel if ever I decided that the anime is not enough for me to satisfy my curiosity.
KUMICHOU MUSUME TO SEWAGAKARI [THE YAKUZA'S GUIDE TO BABYSITTING]
Tumblr media
With the number of posts I made for this anime, I guess it's kinda obvious that this will be my number one. This anime never really managed to catch my attention until my sister told me about it. So my sister was like, "Aren't you gonna watch that anime with the Yakuza taking care of a kid?" and I was like, "What is that?? So cute! I'd definitely watch it!". Yeah, I know, it's typical but I really love the bad guy + cute kid combo. But setting that aside, there are a lot of aspects to love about this anime. If you hadn't noticed, the Yakuza characters here are kinda hot. Hah! And get this, they're better in manga. LOL. I also love Kirishima's relationship with the other characters. His best friend is his gay classmate and he's his "guardian angel". If that's not such a wonderful relationship, then I don't know what it is. He has his big brother Aoi and his little brother Sugihara and Kumichou and his wife is kinda like his parents! And he has his little angel, Yaeka! It's always amazing to watch how Kirishima can act disrespectful to others but would always switch to Keigo speech when talking to her. The last episode was kinda bittersweet but I still loved it anyway. So if you're looking for a slice of life, full of fluff and a bit of angst anime, then is definitely recommended!
There are still some other anime that I managed to finish this season. They're all good anime but I just decided to mention these 6. There are some that I decided I'll just watch some other time so I guess you could say that these are the series that managed to keep me waiting week after week just so I can watch one episode. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Anime i’m Interested in: Summer 2022
1. The Devil is a Part-Timer! Season 2 - Airing July 14th
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Second season of Hataraku Maou-sama!
2. Yofukashi no Uta - Airing July 8th
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Kou Yamori seems like a typical middle school student on the surface. Relatively good at studies and amiable with his classmates, he puts a lot of effort into maintaining this facade. One day, however, he decides to stop pretending and quits school, developing insomnia as a result of having no daytime outlet for his energy. When taking walks alone at night, he feels marginally better, though he is aware that his inability to sleep should be considered a serious problem. On one such walk, Kou meets a weird girl, Nazuna Nanakusa, who diagnoses the cause of his sleeplessness: despite making changes in his life, he is still holding himself back from experiencing true freedom. She says that he won't be able to sleep unless he is satisfied with how he spends his waking hours. When it appears that she has resolved his current worries, Nazuna invites him back to her apartment to share her futon. After a while, unaware that he is only feigning unconsciousness, she leans over him—and bites his neck! [Written by MAL Rewrite]
3. Shadows House 2nd Season - Airing July 9th
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Second season of Shadows House.
4. Kumichou Musume to Sewagakari - Airing July 7th
Tumblr media
Synopsis: WHO'S YOUR NANNY? Tooru Kirishima is the right-hand man of the Sakuragi crime family. For him, the job is a perfect excuse to let his violent instincts run wild, earning him the nickname "The Demon of Sakuragi." It seems like nothing will stand in the way of his vicious nature. But then one day, he receives an assignment like never before from the boss—babysitting his daughter! This is the heartwarming (or is it bloodcurdling?) story of a little girl and her yakuza caretaker! (Source: Kaiten Books, edited)
5. Lycoris Recoil - Airing July 2nd
Tumblr media
Synopsis: A Japanese café in Tokyo serving delicious coffee, super sweet treats and… more!? Ok I needed to make this post so I can make a gathering of all I've watched now since December.
I basically split them into two categories.
New season(s) & Hiatus (for me, not the anime, basically, where I left off many a year ago)
I basically stopped watching anime in 2017/2018. I was a little burnt out bc anime became a chore and 2018 was a v busy year. I finished the bulk of whatever animes happened to be airing at the time (as most are 12 eps in total), but those that went into the 20 or so eps I never got back to for 6 years, until the past couple of months.
When I logged into my MAL there was over 100 notifications and I opted out of watching them several times. I felt overwhelmed.
But Attack on Titan was an essential immediate get back to. So AoT was a part of the section of animes where--
A new season came out during the 6 years I was away
Attack on Titan (s3 and s4)
Hataraku Maou-sama (s2)
Noblesse (new series in general)
Osomatsu (s3 + 3 movies)
Overlord (3 more seasons since I last watched)
Starmyu (s3)
Osomatsu was the obvious immediate second anime I got back to after finishing AoT. Its one of my comfort animes. But then I was lost on what to do after Osomatsu. Yes, there were new seasons of all those above animes, but it also meant rewatching the previous seasons from the start.
So... I instead rewatched two animes that were on the shorter side while I got my head together (plus they were a v enjoyable rewatch)
91 days
Acca
THEN I finally said I'd tackle one of the above. So I rewatched Maou-sama so I could find finally see season 2 (wasn't worth it lol). Then Noblesse. But I put off Starmyu and instead tackled this list below, aka the one's I had on my own personal Hiatus
Classicaloid (was 15/25 eps into season 2 in 2017)
Yowapeda (2/25 eps into season 4 in 2017)
I'd been so close with Classicaloid to the ending originally, so, to finish those 10 eps off meant going back and rewatching season 1 of 25 eps, then catching up to season 2 with 15 eps and then finally seeing those last unseen 10 eps.
So compiled now that I just finished Starmyu, I just have two left
Attack on Titan
Hataraku Maou-sama
Noblesse
Osomatsu
Overlord (3 more seasons since I last watched)
Starmyu
Classicaloid
Yowapeda (2/25 eps into season 4 in 2017)
Both long af... so I may put them both off juuuuuust a little longer and finally officially watch something new this week
Banana Fish being my main priority

Lmao the scooters finally pay dividends. Using them to break through the army and reach Emilia was brilliant and Maou finally goes back into his demon form! Albeit, an incomplete version. Only one horn. Wonder what’s the deal with that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don’t think we’ve ever seen Emi get that flustered around Maou before. That was so cute. So many feelings that she’s accepted internally recently that she needs to tell him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Acieth and Alas Ramus reunion as well was very sweet. Of course the older sister is the baby cause anime logic 😂
Tumblr media
Battle against Gabriel next week is going to be tough. Emi and Aciel already expended quite a bit of energy during their mock fight. Looking forward to seeing how this one goes and how they wrap up the season.

September 2022
Tumblr media
(Series: Lycoris Recoil)
No, I still haven’t finished Youztisu 8. I’m getting there.
While this season didn’t have as much to offer as last season, I did really enjoy every show that I watched and was excited to watch them every week. There was one exception to this which was Hataraku Maou-sama which I put on hold after episode 7. I took a break from the show while on holidays and I fell behind it by 3 episodes and when I finally got around to episode 7 all I could think about what was how bored I was watching it. And I actually like volume 4 more than most people did but the execution was so lackluster for me and I did not want to go back to it. I will still finish it later but I needed to take a break. It’s a shame as I’ve been wanting this sequel for 9 years but I can’t say I’m surprised that it ended up being disappointing, given the change in studio and the general quality of the light novels after volume 2. I can’t say I was excited to see a 3rd season announced.
Shadows House 2: This was a very compelling sequel with an intriguing mystery and some great new characters. I do think that it moved a bit too slowly at times and it’s a shame that it ends on a note that feels even more unfinished than the first season did but I’ve been meaning to pick up the manga anyway so whatever. Still a really enjoyable season that shows off the talents of the animators and the voice actors.
Danmachi 4: This one isn’t finished yet but I’ve been enjoying this one a lot. I do think that the more recent episodes suffer from some low budgeted animation but the strength of the source material still manages to carry it. The light novel is better but the anime makes for an enjoyable watch nonetheless. I don’t know how long this season is meant to go for. I’ve heard rumors that it will be 22 episodes but I haven’t found anything official to confirm it (granted I haven’t looked far). If this is the case, hopefully the anime won’t become unwatchable due to budget issues in the second half.
Lycoris Recoil: I really enjoyed this anime overall, largely due to how much I loved the main cast, particularly Chisato and Takina and their dynamic. I had a blast watching it every week. I definitely think there was more potential to explore the setting and interrogate the whole premise of teenage girls being turned into assassins. There was a particular part where Mika mentioned that Lycoris tend to stop being active when they turn 18 and there was no further explanation as to why that is or what happens to them. It’s just briefly mentioned and glossed over. I do think it was a missed oppurtunity to explore that premise further but as is it’s fun action series with incredibly charming leads that I was super invested in and that was enough for me. I will picking up the light novel volume once I’ve cleared a bit more of my backlog.
Digimon Ghost Game: Recently, the show has focused on Hiro more and more to the point where several episodes will just have Kiyo and Ruli make a single appearance or not appear at all. It reminds me of a tv show where a character just won’t appear in an episode because the actor is busy and the other characters will have a throwaway line to explain their absence. It also reminds me of the Adventure remake but I don’t mind it as much because I don’t have an older, better show to compare it to and because I don’t care about Ruli and Kiyo all that much. I like them well enough but the show never really felt like it knew what to do with them. Ruli wanting to find “something” was alluded to in early episodes but hasn’t come back since and Kiyo felt like he was starting to have a character arc with him becoming braver but his cowardliness tends to be used as comedic relief more often than not which resets most of that character development. It’s not like Hiro is any more developed but at least I feel like he has a point to exist. That’s definitely the weakest point of this season: as much as I enjoy it, I can’t say the human characters are very well-rounded. It’s a shame because they definitely have potential but they’re not used well. Thankfully, the Digimon themselves have more than enough charm to make up for it and I’m still able to really enjoy it each week and get excited for every new episode.
Love Live Superstar 2: I wasn’t enjoying this anime as much as I enjoyed the first season for the first half of it. While I liked the new characters well enough, I didn’t care much for their introductory episodes and I questioned whether they really needed to exist. But I am really enjoying the second half and I’m glad we get to see more of the original team and how the new members fit into their dynamic. Episode 7 & 9 were particular highlights. I am also a big fan of the new rival Wien who is perhaps the most threatening rival in all of Love Live. I’m really excited to see how this season ends.
Next season, the only new thing I’m set to be watching is the second half of Spy x Family but I’ll probably pick up a couple of other shows. I feel like HiDive has snatched up most of the shows that I was interested in this season (like Bibliophile Princess) but I’m sure I’ll find something.

Light Novel Guide
