I think I would like to share a little thing about spiral. Since they eat souls and kind of stuck in a place without many people in it, they tend to starve to death over and over again, until one day a strange platypus just appears... You can just figure this place is just some form of fourth void hell... Starline is not having fun getting chased around by a smoking freight train after their soul, downright, having trouble navigating this strange scattered place, trying to find things to make his situation a little more bearable...

#you can make wacky and crazy things happen in your book but it has to make sense #anything can stick in someone’s memory for its shock value but it doesn’t mean it’ll be regarded as good #if something is breaking the rules of your world and then nothing else can for no reason other than you felt like it #and then you don’t justify that it just means you’re shit at writing #even if the justification is ‘that was a weird anomaly and should not have happened’#anyway stop giving writing advice like it’s law if you can’t substantially support it #the horse didn’t drown for fun it drowned for a purpose #your man face eating bear or whatever isn’t going to make people excited if it makes no sense #the beauty of writing is you can make anything make sense if you want it to make sense #stop being lazy and put in some effort #and making shit make sense doesn’t mean obsessing over the tiny details of your world building #like just have some nuanced thought maybe #and stop encouraging people to write garbage #rambles #the girlfriend exploding at the beginning of the boys doesnt haunt me because she exploded and then there was no explanation #it haunts me because it was the first indication of the casual violence of the world and the reality of superheroes #your shock value writing is crass and tired #write the wacky thing and edit in a reason for it later if you must #but plopping a man faced bear in your horror story and then ditching it after with NO explanation #it doesn’t even have to be explained in exposition #your world should explain it for you #these are things that the reader should be able to make their own connections about #but having nothing to back it up is just bad writing #even surrealist writing has a reason for their being no reason!!!!#just stfu!
