Pride and Prejudice

The second of Jane Austen’s novels, first published in 1813, is the most often adapted, inspiring various different takes on it. The ones pictures above are detailed below:
Pride and Prejudice (1940 Film)
This black and white film departs from the original novel in some (or should I say many?) points

Lizzie’s videos amount to 100 episodes + 10 Q&A, but shorter series enrich the story by offering other characters’ perspectives, most notably Lydia’s (and also Georgiana’s). A playlist at Pemberley Digital’s Youtube channel features them all in order.

Features 100 episodes in the International cut. The telenovela has been broadcast in other countries and languages (such as Spanish) but as far as I know, not in English.

*****
Personal favorites: 2005, then 1995. But also: The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, Orgulho e Paixão
I also enjoyed Atlanta and, while it’s been a while since I’ve seen Bride and Prejudice, it’s got Indian musical numbers so c’mon, one gotta watch it.
Back to the closer adaptions, despite its age, 1980 is also good! 1940 is...very different, but fun in its own way.
In fact, while I find some of these versions weaker, I could find enjoyment in all of them - but maybe that’s cause I’m a sucker for P&P.

For your IAU, who would be Edna and Snub (the pilot guy in the old photo with Helen who got Elastagirl the jet to go find Mr. Incredible)?
Edna is two characters actually— Fi and Ghirahim kind of tag team her. Which means you get scenes like this:
“We started with your youngest,” Fi stated as a mannequin wearing a green outfit about Four’s size appeared behind the glass.
“Started?” Malon asked in disbelief.
“Shh! You’re interrupting!” Ghirahim’s voice came from the other room, and Malon looked over to see him holding what appeared to be a flamethrower.
“We cut it roomy for free movement, and to allow room for growth,” Fi continued. “The fabric is comfortable for all types of skin, and can also withstand a temperature of over 1000 degrees.”
Before Fi even finished speaking, Ghirahim let loose with the flamethrower, spewing fire all over the suit with a cackle.
...I’ve been having fun XD
Anyway, the pilot guy I actually haven’t decided yet— I’ll probably pick someone like Teba though. It seems a fitting role for a rito!

As someone whose LOVE Epic the Musical for years (watching it progress on tictok) and Linked Universe
Let me drag you all down a rabbit hole with me.
Time is Odysseus
He leaves his wife and young son to go and fight in a war
He struggles through all the monsters to make it back home
Malon is Penelope
His loyal wife awaiting his return.
Is constantly sought by suitors who want to marry her and take over Times kingdom/land but she keeps refusing them believing her husband is still alive
Twilight is Telemachus
Times some who grew up not knowing his father.
He grew up hearing stories of his heroic father but has never truly met him.
Wants to protect his mom from all of the suitors and keep their home safe
When he challenges the suitors they literally call him ‘little wolf.’
One of the goddesses can be Athena
Maybe Nayru since she is also the goddess of Wisdom
Or Farore since she is the goddess of courage and has been tied to Link.
Or Hylia herself as Athena favors Odysseus and Hylia favors Link
Saria is Aeolus
A male god in the original myth but sung by a woman in the musical, they are the god of winds and traps all the winds from a storm in a bag so that Odysseus can get home.
However they make it a game sending down little minions to whisper to the crew that the bag is filled treasure leading to them opening the bag and releasing the storm
Ruto is Calypso
The goddess who falls in love with Odysseus and traps him on her island promising him immortality if he stays.
He refuses her and returns home to his wife
Just as Tito falls in love with Link in Ocarina of Time.
Zelda(lullaby) can be either Helen of Troy or Circe
I prefer Helen as that is the woman the men, Odysseus/Time went to save in the first place.
The other Lu boys….
Maybe time left when Twilight was 3/4ish he doesn’t remember him at all and Wild was a baby making them brothers
Maybe Warriors was a boy who fought in the war and knew Time. Or more likely his father did. Maybe that’s who Twilight goes to ask for help in getting ride of the Suitors. He visits Warriors father and meets Warriors. Or heir fathers were Shield brothers making them sort of cousins.
The other boys live in Lon Lon (Ithaca) maybe their fathers were part of Times forces and he takes them in when he is the only one to return home.
It’s a rough idea but it’s bounce around my head for a while

well you know me, i wanna know more about the eah au 👁️👁️ but also the emotional support loftwing. Whichever you feel like sharing :)
- crazylittlejester
Ever After High AU - Main
As you know, the premise is that the Links have been crammed into the Ever After High universe. I'm treating them as characters in addition to the canon characters in EAH, which means a lot of fudging, as it turns out. It's also turning into a game of "how mean can I be to the characters" and I can't exactly lose at it. XD
I've already given you a list of all the Links' and Zeldas' roles so far, but to recap, here's an updated list.
Time/Mask - a child stolen by fairies, unknown legacy, possibly the next Godfather Death, unsure of his stance on destinies.
Lullaby - Mulan's legacy, neutral about destinies.
Warriors - Helen of Troy's legacy, hates his destiny but too afraid to rebel against it.
Artemis/Athena - Athena's legacy, thinks her destiny is boring but is going along with it.
Wild - Rip van Winkle's legacy, but it got messed up with Sleeping Beauty's curse during a magical attack on the school, accidentally woken up by Hyrule.
Flora - Unknown legacy, gains the ability to turn into a dragon and uses her dragon form to wait for Wild to wake up.
Sky - The next person to fight the Jabberwocky, likes his destiny but wants to end the cycle of legacies.
Sun - [redacted] legacy, just waves it off and says it isn't important right now, 100% in love with Sky and supportive of his agenda.
Legend - Merlin's legacy, feels neutral about it since he has to wait a long time to be an adult wizard due to their longevity.
Fable - Legend's twin sister, inherited magical abilities as well, but is not a fan of the princess legacy she inherited, which will make her a side character in someone else's story.
Twilight - Unknown legacy, cursed to be a wolf-dog that Wild adopted and now is stuck with him until someone puts two and two together, he just wanted to be a farmer.
Dusk - Unknown princess legacy, is very suspicious of the weird dog Wild takes everywhere with him, but can't prove anything.
Wind - The child of an ocean deity, probably from Atlantis, doesn't care about his destiny and spends all his free time with Tetra.
Tetra - Knows who her parents are but refuses to be boxed into a destiny, so she never tells anyone what her legacy is.
Hyrule - Jack the Giant Killer's legacy, saves a bunch of people because he's just that nice, is wonderful at what he does, but everyone thinks he knows the technical stuff when he doesn't.
Dawn & Aurora - Miscellaneous princesses, they don't really know what they want to do with their lives and are kind of figuring themselves out.
Four & Shadow - Were supposed to share a legacy, but there was a falling out in the family and now the whole story is messed up.
Dot - Is fine with her destiny and really just spends all her time working on hobbies and getting random certifications while she waits to be rescued. Honestly could not be happier, this changes nothing for her.
Ravio - This is probably going in a side story later, sorry.
Malon - Also probably going to be in a side story later. Sorry.
Spirit - Wasn't supposed to have a destiny but ended up befriending a ghost and then died in a train accident caused by a magic fight that made him a ghost, too.
Phantom - Was born into a legacy family but was an "extra princess" who ended up getting assassinated before she ever found out what her destiny was supposed to be, ends up being best friends with Spirit.
Anyway, here's a bit from the main plot. :)
No, it was too early for him to fall asleep! It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. He didn’t sign The Storybook of Legend yet, none of this was supposed to be happening… Regardless of his opinion on the matter, his eyes drooped shut. The magic permeating every fiber of his being and lulling it to a deep, dark sleep. Despite his best efforts, he was rendered unable to fight it, his will simply too weak to assert itself over something so powerful. His last dim thought was gratefulness for the fact that Flora would be his last sight before he woke up again. If he ever did.

male fantasies, male fantasies, is everything run by male fantasies? up on a pedestal or down on your knees, it's all a male fantasy: that you're strong enough to take what they dish out, or else too weak to do anything about it. even pretending you aren't catering to male fantasies is a male fantasy: pretending you're unseen, pretending you have a life of vour own, that you can wash your feet and comb your hair unconscious of the ever-present watcher peering through the keyhole, peering through the keyhole in your own head, if nowhere else. you are a woman with a man inside watching a woman. you are your own voyeur. - Margaret Atwood

Taylor Swift Dominates the Charts
Taylor Swift’s latest is the second biggest opening week in recorded history. The Tortured Poets Department racked up 2.61 million units in its first week, including 1.914 million physical sales. Taylor Swift’s 11th full-length studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, shattered countless records upon release. Notably, “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone has landed on top of the Billboard Hot 100 this week. “Fortnight” becomes Taylor’s 7th Billboard Hot 100 #1 debut, and her 12th overall #1 on the chart.    See below for other key highlights and listen to The Tortured Poets Department — HERE.    The Tortured Poets Department Highlights: Only artist to ever hold the entire top 14 on the Hot 100 Breaks record for most consecutive new albums with a Hot 100 #1 hit (8) Breaks record for most simultaneous Hot 100 debuts (31) All songs from The Tortured Poets Department debut top 55 Only artist to ever hold the entire top 10 on the Hot 100 twice Ties for most #1 hits on the Hot 100 this decade First female artist to earn at least 50 top 10 hits on Hot 100 First female artist with twelve #1 hits on the Hot 100 and twelve #1 albums on the Billboard 200.    WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING ABOUT The Tortured Poets Department   “5 Stars” - Rolling Stone, Rob Sheffield   “Instant Classic” - Rolling Stone, Rob Sheffield   “The Tortured Poets Department combines the intimacy of Folklore and Evermore with the synth-pop gloss of Midnights to create music that's wildly ambitious and gloriously chaotic” - Rolling Stone, Rob Sheffield   “5 Stars” - Helen Brown, The Independent   “With its playful narratives and hooks like anchors, Swift’s 11th studio album is a terrific reminder of her storytelling powers” - The Independent, Helen Brown   “The whole album is a terrific reminder of the intense, personal connection Swift can conjure in song. She fills arenas and dominates the news agenda because listeners can relate to her starry dramas – her tales endow their own experiences with new electricity…Her ability to put her lines over is as compelling as ever. I defy anyone not to lean into Swift’s concisely charged storytelling.” - The Independent, Helen Brown   “5 Stars” - The Times, Will Hodgkinson    “The Tortured Poets Department is an ultra-confident, ballad-heavy, poetic yet grounded reflection on love in all its forms: destructive, blissful, fantastical, embittered and idealised. And although plenty of the scenarios are imagined, these poetic visions of love’s tangled strands come alive because they are grounded in real feelings.” - The Times, Will Hodgkinson   “5 Stars” - The Sunday Times, Dan Cairns   “Again and again the songs hit the mark, as rich and concise as a great short story collection and, as ever with Swift, conjuring a scene in an instant.” - The Sunday Times, Dan Cairns   “5 Stars” - iNews, Ed Power   “The Tortured Poets Department is an aesthetic triumph – who knew books and sad bangers could go together so well? But more than that it is a new chapter in Swift’s ongoing quest for pop perfection and a record brimming with moments to beguile fans new and old.” - iNews, Ed Power   “5 Stars” - The Arts Desk, Ellie Roberts   “Taylor Swift has once again alchemised pain and criticism into art, surpassing her own already astronomical influence on the music industry with an artefact that deserves to be celebrated forever.” - The Arts Desk, Ellie Roberts   “Taylor Swift's 'Tortured Poets' is hauntingly brilliant” - USA Today, Melissa Ruggieri   “Taylor Swift’s vulnerability is her superpower.” - USA Today, Melissa Ruggieri     “‘I Can Do it With a Broken Heart’ is one of Swift’s best Trojan horses” - USA Today, Melissa Ruggieri    “...her 11th album feels like a bloodletting: A cathartic purge after a major heartbreak delivered through an ascendant vocal run, an elegiac verse, or mobile, synthesized productions that underscore the powers of Swift’s storytelling.” - AP News, Maria Sherman    ““Clara Bow” enters the pantheon of great final tracks on a Swift album.” - AP… https://chorus.fm/news/taylor-swift-dominates-the-charts-2/

You’ll do scenes from Incredibles 2 as well? 👀 Ooh
Ok idk if you’ve done this one already (i don’t think you have but forgive me if I forgot) but I’d love to see the scene where Helen tricks Bob so she can put the glasses on him but with Time and Malon? That scene is just evil lol
Gotta hand it to Pixar they did whump and angst very well in their heyday XD
I’d forgotten about that scene!! (...I really need to watch the movie again). And you’re right they really did didn’t they XD I hadn’t done anything for this scene yet, and I got so excited writing it I did basically the whole thing 😂 So... I’m just gonna share the whole thing because, well... it’s fun, hehe.
I used Screenslaver here as a temporary name. I’ll likely change it for the long run, but nothing came to mind so that’s why it is what it is. Those darn hypno goggles...
...
“Malanya’s in trouble.”
Cia’s words rang in Time’s head as he finally reached the ship where Malon was, heart in his throat as he met with up Cia. That was the only information he’d been given over the phone, and if anything had happened to Malon... he’d never forgive himself.
“Fill me in,” Time demanded as he practically ran down the hallway, Cia jogging to keep up with him.
“Well, good news and bad news. We found her,” Cia began, and Time exhaled a little in relief. “She seems physically fine, but she’s had an encounter with the Screenslaver and she’s acting kind of strange.” They reached a large door, and Time’s stomach twisted as Cia opened it. “In here.”
Time walked inside the darkened room, lit only by the light from the hall behind, and a faint blue shine. He blinked as his eyes adjusted, and he looked around, hair standing up on his neck. He didn’t see Malon anywhere.
“Strange how?” he asked, then felt something slam into his cheek.
Time reeled backwards as pain exploded up his face, and he stared in shock at Malon, standing in the shadows with another blunted arrow already strung on her bow.
He leapt out of the way as she shot another arrow at his face, the fletching grazing his chin as he tried to regain his wits.
Malon, what on earth—
Malon put away her bow as he tried to figure out what to do, and began throwing some of the chairs by the wall at him, Time throwing up his arm to block them. He muscled his way towards her, ignoring the wood splintering into pieces around them, and Malon rolled out of his way as he jumped, aiming a series of kicks at him.
Time struggled to avoid her quick attacks, his wife’s moves faster than his own. He finally managed to grab her leg, and shoved her over, grabbing her shoulders and looking into her goggled eyes.
“Malon!” he gasped, trying to figure out what was wrong with her. “Malon, what are you—”
Malon kneed his gut, slipping out of his hold when his grip loosened. Time lunged in an effort to grab her again, but she nimbly twisted herself around, jumping on his back.
Time grabbed at her as she pulled her lasso from her hip, and before he could stop her she’d gotten part of it around his neck.
She pulled and Time choked, struggling to get his hands around the rope or somehow loosen her grip. Malon didn’t budge however, no matter how he struggled, and Time felt his vision start to blur as he struggled to get in any air.
He didn’t notice Cia, still standing in the doorway, put a hand inside her coat.
Malon’s grip loosened just a bit, and Time practically threw her off his back, heaving in a gasp as he somehow managed to grab her again.
“Malon, it’s me!” he shouted in a desperate voice, and her struggling paused, her shoulders lowering as she stared at him.
Time heaved for breath as she looked at him, and all of a sudden she surged forward and kissed him. After a moment of shock, Time returned it, relief making his knees weak.
Behind him, Cia quietly slid a pair of goggles across the floor, the device stopping next to Malon’s foot. Malon hooked the toe of her boot around it, then silently tossed them up, smoothly grabbing them all while she continued to kiss Time.
Then she pulled back and slammed the goggles over his face.
Time’s vision went white, swirling with squares and patterns that he couldn’t identify. Betrayal slammed into him as he recognized the beginnings of his mind being taken over, and he tried desperately to resist the way his thoughts began to blur.
He’d faced mind control before, but not against himself, not in such an intense way that bored into his vision and rapidly overtook his thoughts, twisting and squeezing and pulling him into its depths until all that was left was...
Was...
Malon...
Time stilled as his mind went blank, tension leaving his body.
Cia smiled, walking into the room between him and Malon. She looked at the two of them as they moved to stand at her sides, and her smile grew as she waved for them to follow her.
Both of them silently obeyed.
