WIP Wednesday

Taking a break from posting cunty Stolas to put one of the funny/cute moments from my WIP fanfiction instead. Enjoy!

From the reception desk, Stolas looked up from his half-filled journal. “You're not missing any invoices, are you?”

“Of course not,” Moxxie replied with too much self-assurance. “Besides, if I was missing one, the numbers would be even more off.”

Blitzø wasn't even paying attention to Moxxie. 'Invoices' rolled so naturally from Stolas now; he couldn't help but feel proud about it. Blitzø had given the job of dividing mail to him just a few weeks ago. He had been far more confused at the time.

“Invoice? Why is it called that?” “Oh, uhhhhh...I don't--I don't actually know. It just kinda is.” “In voice. Yet they come in the mail? Not over the phone or in person?” “Yeeeeeeah, I guess that is kinda fucky isn't it?” “Were they originally delivered verbally?” “No fuckin' idea. Just – that's what they're called, I guess. Look, all you gotta know is, if you get something that says we owe money, sort it by whatever the money's supposed to be for and hand it to Moxxie. If one of us has mail to go out, it gets a stamp and makes a pile over there... And make sure Moxxie actually puts a fuckin' address on it first.”

Later that week, Stolas had approached him in the apartment. Curiosity had gotten the better of him, and he'd spent downtime at work looking up the origins of the word invoice. A lengthy infodump followed: something about human languages and root terms based on obsolete words. It was a half-vocab, half-Earth history lesson, and Blitzø couldn't follow a lot of it. But Stolas was excited – actually excited, for the first time in fuck knew when - to share his newfound knowledge. So Blitzø nodded and encouraged, and Stolas went to work the next day a little more eagerly, feeling he understood his job better. Blitzø could boast that he had the only secretary in Hell who enjoyed getting invoices.

Fun fact:

This part was actually inspired by me. When I first started the fic, I got curious about the origins of the word "invoice" because - weird - why does it have 'voice' in it? After like 10 minutes of researching, I had a moment where I realized, "This is totally something Stolas would do."

Happy WIP Wednesday!! Thanks for the tag @fuzzandfeathers! Wanted to share an older drawing WIP that I was just recently reminded of 😊 Pride and Prejudice (2005) has always been my mom's comfort movie, and it's become one for me as well 💜 Combine that with my HB brainrot and this was basically inevitable 😅

I'm just saying, "awkward, kind of stuck-up noble falls in love with someone of lower rank who talks back to them; noble realizes they've hurt their beloved and devotes themselves to fixing it; along the way beloved realizes they misjudged the noble based on their rank and first impressions; finally they realize that they're perfect for each other" feels really stolitz-coded to me 👀👀👀👀

Looking back on this I'm pretty happy with how it was going! I stopped working on it bc I got frustrated trying to figure out the rendering, but I think I have a better handle on that now so maybe I'll try to finish it up sometime 💜
