Baby Chronicles: Uncle Chaz

Once introduced to Chaz, Kaiden and Kirin started hanging out with him more in Imp City mostly at the insistence of M&M. As a quote-on-quote babysitter goes Chaz was at least cool, walking around Imp City with full willingness to take them to the malls or shops leading to him forming a quick friendship with young imps.

“So, what do we call you? You’re not related to us,” Kirin asked curiously.

“Huh? Oh, you can just call me Chaz,” Chaz assured Kirin with a cheesy grin.

“Don’t be rude Kirin,” Kaiden scolded the smaller imp with a tap to the top of her head.

“Shut up Kaiden! I wasn’t being rude, I just wanted to know because we call Millie and Moxxie, Aunt Millie and Uncle Moxxie,” Kirin pouted as she explained.

“Relax you two, just call me, Chaz. No need for formalities. Now where we goin’ next?” Chaz chuckled.

“Let’s go to the bar,” Kirin suggested earning another disapproving scowl from Kaiden.

“Sorry, no can do. You two aren’t of age yet,” Chaz smoothly responded clearly picking up on Kirin’s sneaky attempt.

“Thanks Chaz,” Kaiden stated.

“If you’re both done let’s, go back to the apartment,” Chaz suggested.

“I think that would be for the best,” Kaiden agreed.

“Fine,” Kirin agreed in an exasperated tone with an equally exasperated eyeroll.

Chaz led the way towards M&M’s apartment when he came across a convenience store that promptly reminded him, they needed milk. Popping inside Chaz told Kaiden and Kirin to just wait for him as he’d be back shortly, leaning against the store wall Kaiden casually scrolled his phone while Kirin stood a couple feet from him doing the same. A few moments passed when a group of about five young adult imps appeared, Kaiden grimaced slightly as the group seemed to make it a point of being as loud as possible and childishly shoved one another around. Kirin moved slightly to the side with a similar look to Kaiden’s on her features towards the group who decided to stop upon catching sight of Kirin in particular.

“Hey hot stuff!” The tallest imp of the group declared.

“Humph, keep walkin’,” Kirin scoffed barely looking up from her phone.

“Don’t be like that…let me take you down to the bar and get you a drink,” The imp tried again as his buddies giggled behind him. Kaiden huffed a laugh not making any move for the moment because he better then anyone else knew Kirin could handle herself.

“Not interested, get lost!” Kirin demanded returning to her phone.

“What did you just say? Bitch!” The imp angrily stated.

“You heard me, get lost,” Kirin repeated, eerily looking up through her lashes at him.

“Teach the little cunt a lesson!” One of the other imps chimed in with a snarl.

Kaiden sighed in time with Kirin as they both slid their phones away in their back pockets, Kaiden came up behind the group immediately drawing the attention of the three hanging back there. Kaiden punched one imp in the face while the others took swings from either side which he easily dodged, Kirin crouched out of the way of the tall imp’s attempt to grab her before slipping between his legs, sweeping one out to trip the imp behind him followed by wrapping her tail around the tall imp’s ankles till he also fell to the ground. Kaiden elbowed one of the other imps in the stomach causing him to double over in agony as Kaiden’s elbow spine slashed the other imp’s flesh, the third imp ran at him, but Kaiden flipped over him, snatching the imp’s shoulders along the way till he was able to slam him into the cement. Kirin smirked with a huffed laugh as she scurried past the first imp she’d tripped only to have her tail grabbed causing her to hit the ground on her stomach with guttural grunt followed by a snarl as she snatched up a massive rock nearby, lashing out with a foot she nailed the imp holding her tail right in the face, flipped over and threw the rock straight into the crotch of the tall imp who’d only just managed to get to his feet. Kaiden was just about to turn around when the two imps behind him grabbed him promptly shoving him against the store wall face first causing him to grunt in pain while struggling to get loose.

“Kaiden!” Kirin cried out upon seeing him get shoved against the wall, scrambling to her feet the little albino imp hurried towards him only to have a hand snatch her ankle sending her back to the cement. Kirin tried to lash out like before unfortunately the imp on the ground who Kaiden had flipped earlier had grabbed both her feet that’s when the tall imp came over and kicked her in the stomach right before grabbing her by the hair to yank the small imp up.

“Kirin!” Kaiden exclaimed only to get punched in the ribs.

“Fuckin’ little whore!” The tall imp spat as Kirin screamed in pain, struggling to get loose.

“Ugh! Let her…GO!” Kaiden growled out suddenly turning to sink his teeth into the forearm of one of the imps still holding him. The imp shrieked in agony as neon green liquid trickled down his arm to mingle with his blood.

“What the fuck!?” The tall imp exclaimed, tossing Kirin into the brick wall eliciting a harsh yelp from her upon hitting it. Kaiden slammed his tail into the second imp who’d been holding him sending him flying backwards just as Chaz emerged from the store.

Chaz’s first reaction was surprised confusion however upon seeing an imp rushing towards Kaiden he ran to put himself between the two, slamming his own tail into that imp to knock him backwards. Another imp was headed towards Kirin’s unconscious body on the ground, Chaz growled lowly then ran towards him, snatching the imp by the arm to drag him backwards straight into the shark’s jaws, Chaz biting down on the imp’s shoulder. Chaz tossed the imp to his friends as he stood protectively in front of Kirin with Kaiden moving to join him, one hand wrapped around his side as he panted slightly.

“Shit! Let’s get out of here!” The tall imp declared.

“I think he fucking poisoned me!” The imp Kaiden had bit declared as they ran off.

Chaz huffed in victory before looking to Kaiden who cracked his jaw revealing a pair of long fangs that retracted followed by him spitting out a combination of blood and a green substance onto the ground. Chaz had questions however those could wait, turning around he took a knee next to Kirin’s unconscious body, concern lacing his features as he gently cupped her cheek and looked over her body revealing a patch of blood quickly growing on her side. Gingerly Chaz lifted her shirt, Kirin’s ribs were obviously broken as one was sticking from her skin and she had a few other wounds that were bleeding.

“Is she okay?” Kaiden asked, concern lacing his tone.

“Her ribs are broken, let’s get back to the apartment,” Chaz answered, gently scooping Kirin into his arms, the action still made the little imp cry out in pain.

Kaiden followed Chaz with a slight limp to his walk, he was hurting but he was more concerned about Kirin in Chaz’s arms. Chaz took Kirin into the bedroom of the apartment where he laid her on the bed then grabbed a few items from around the apartment unfortunately the bedroom was too small for Kaiden to be in there at the same time, so he instructed Kaiden to stay in the living room while he treated Kirin. Chaz pulled Kirin’s shirt up in preparation to do what needed to be done, he tied Kirin’s ankles together, secured her tail to her thigh and tied her wrists together then he pressed on her ribs to realign them followed swiftly by shoving the one sticking out of her skin back in all in a matter of a minute as Kirin released a blood-curdling scream of agony. Kirin started sobbing uncontrollably once Chaz was finished, confusion in her big red eyes as she looked up at the shark with tears streaming down her cheeks. Chaz gently embraced the little albino, undoing the ropes on her wrists as well as the ones on her ankles and tail allowing Kirin to ball her hands into Chaz’s T-shirt as she sobbed, Chaz making soothing little noises while holding a towel to the open wound on Kirin’s side to stop the bleeding.

“It hurts! Fuck it hurts! Uncle Chaz…” Kirin chanted incoherently.

“I know it does, I’m sorry Kirin,” Chaz whispered back feeling terrible at how much pain Kirin was in.

Eventually Kirin calmed enough for Chaz to finish treating her, stitching the wound on her side so as he could bandage it afterwards with a tension bandage to keep the ribs in place. Kirin’s other injuries weren’t as bad, some scrapes of which a couple needed stitches luckily nothing too serious though. Once Kirin was resting Chaz moved into the living room where he was met with Kaiden’s concerned glance, the other imp attempting to stand only to yelp in pain that trailed off into a groan.

“Easy, sit back down,” Chaz insisted, placing the first aid kit along with a couple towels onto the coffee table.

“R-right…is she okay?” Kaiden asked taking a couple deep breaths to calm his pain.

“She’ll be alright, let’s get a look at you now,” Chaz assured.

“I’m fine,” Kaiden stated bluntly.

“I’ll be the judge of that, now show me,” Chaz insisted earning him a slight eyeroll from Kaiden who gingerly stripped off his torso layers till Chaz could see the bruised mess. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much Chaz could do for Kaiden as most of his injuries were bruises or minor cuts, he gave the imp an ice pack to ease some of the discomfort along with some pain killers.

The evening started to calm down leading to Chaz having a moment to call Striker, Blitz, Millie and Moxxie to inform them of what happened. Once everyone was in the loop Chaz made them all some food although for the moment it was just him and Kaiden eating, he handed a bowl of soup to the imp who happily accepted with Chaz taking a seat next to him on the couch with his own bowl in hand.

“Hey, so what did you do to that imp?” Chaz curiously inquired.

“Huh? Oh, um…I produce venom and can inject it into someone if I bite them,” Kaiden casually explained.

“Really? That’s…different,” Chaz stated a little taken aback.

“Yeah, Striker and Blitz say it comes from whatever I’m mixed with,” Kaiden continued.

“Oh, that’s right you’re not pure imp,” Chaz remembered.

“Nope, I’m a hybrid,” Kaiden confirmed.

“Still cool though, is Kirin a hybrid?” Chaz wondered curiously.

“Nah, she’s an albino…a rare condition that causes imp’s to be white with red eyes,” Kaiden corrected.

“That’s cool too,” Chaz softly chuckled earning him a small smile from Kaiden.

The two settled into eating their dinner with Chaz getting up afterwards to go check on Kirin, the little imp was still out cold however she was panting softly with sweat beading on her skin. Chaz patted a cool cloth along Kirin’s face as he changed the little imp’s bandages, after everything was finished the shark made certain Kaiden was comfortable in the living room before heading to his own bedroom to get some rest before morning.

…The next morning…

Chaz swore Striker and Blitz must have broken a record for getting back into town so quickly and Blitz nearly knocked the door down upon arriving at the apartment. Blitz hurried to Kaiden’s side upon seeing the hybrid sitting on the couch holding a fresh ice pack to his bruised torso, rolling his eyes when Blitz started fussing over him. Striker huffed a little laugh as he came along side Kaiden to place a hand on the young imp’s shoulder.

“Ya alright?” Striker inquired in a gentle tone.

“Yes, I’m fine. It’s just some bruising,” Kaiden assured.

“Alright, Blitz, let’s go check on Kirin,” Striker insisted.

“Oh right! Kirin!” Blitz exclaimed nearly running Chaz over as he took off down the hallway.

Blitz ran into the bedroom only to nearly flip out upon seeing the state Kirin was in, the little imp still unconscious looking paler then normal. Striker brushed past Blitz to get to Kirin’s side gingerly placing a hand on Kirin’s shoulder as he looked over her injuries. Kirin stirred slightly then blinked her crimson eyes open only to whimper.

“Hush lil one, me and Blitz are here,” Striker assured her.

“Mm, it hurts…” Kirin whimpered out.

“I know, we’re gonna get Ya home,” Striker once again assured Kirin.

“Yeah, let’s get these two home,” Blitz agreed.

“Thanks for watching over them, Chaz,” Striker stated gently scooping Kirin up off the bed causing the little imp to cling to him.

“No problem, just wish they’d not gotten hurt,” Chaz admitted with a little frown.

“Nah, it ain’t yer fault. These two scrap a lot,” Striker assured him with a small grin as he gestured to Kirin in his arms using his head.

“Not our fault people keep picking fights,” Kaiden retorted from behind Chaz in the hallway.

“Still, might wanna tone it down a bit,” Striker immediately shot back glancing at Kirin in his arms causing Kaiden to look away with a frown.

“Either way, we’ll see you later and we’ll keep you updated,” Blitz assured Chaz.

“Okay, thanks,” Chaz smiled as they left.

Later that evening as Chaz sat on the couch enjoying dinner, he got a text from Blitz with a poorly spelled update about Kirin and Kaiden apparently, they’d made it home and were resting. A week later Chaz got another update stating that Kirin was doing much better as was Kaiden much to the shark’s relief.
