All hail ask culture, may she come back from near-death!! How has your day been so far? Gimme one bitching point and one nice thing!
babe!!! yes YES help me with my crusade!
gonna answer this about yesterday (bc today I'm freshly woken up)
bitching point: so. I work in IT. my actual job description is testing and being a help desk for NEW systems being implemented. pay attention to that "new".... because one else at my company does! they think I'm google! "hey so X program closed on me without saving how can I recover what I was working on?" "I need new lines on this excel table can you come over and insert some" (I wish I was joking) "ummmm outlook isn't showing me my calendar" (this one happens once a week. to the same person). I feel like goddamned sisyphus.
one nice thing: I TOOK MOM TO THE THEATER LAST NIGHT FOR HER BIRTHDAY. There was a production of Cyrano and it. was. bloody FANTASTIC. mom fell asleep in the intermission and I bullied her for it ("claims to love theater" etc) after I woke her up and the second bit resumed. afterwards we went out for beer and ummmm what do you call them in English? calamari rings, fried. it was a GOOD night
#how I help those people:#I get on the phone with them while remotely accessing their desktop#open Google chrome (invariably they ALL use chrome of course)#google the problem they said they had. yes this is in front of them.#open the first non-ad link and follow the guide#if that doesn't fix it go back and open the next link.#HR recently updated the job description and the survey asked what skills are essential to you job. I literally answered “using Google”#she thought I was joking until she had a problem and called me over. I went over opened Google and typed exactly what she said#first link had the solution.#“so you see Google is an essential skill in my job”#I have NO idea how she spinned it for her assignment and I don't care#(hopefully she googled it. but I'm not holding my breath)

Do you think you could write about Sukuna x reader before baby kuna and there live before reader even gettin pregnant I really love your work 💗💗💗✨✨✨✨
some corporate boss mamakuna x employee sukuna lore! this is how they first met :)
back before babykuna, before the house full of labubus, cats, and stolen hoodies, there was corporate sukuna. and corporate sukuna? he was supposed to be a goddamn nightmare. you had heard horror stories.
"he’s impossible to work with."
"he made the last manager cry."
"he once told HR to 'suck his entire d—'"
okay, so maybe that last one was a little concerning. but you were young, fresh into a leadership role, and ready to face whatever demon of a man this company had somehow not yet fired. so naturally, when you finally met him, arms crossed, scowl carved into his face like a roman statue, you prepared for the worst.
"ryomen sukuna, right?" you greeted, professional, poised, the picture of authority. his eyes flicked up to you, and you swear, for half a second, there was a spark of mischief, a flicker of something dangerous. but then, to your absolute shock, sukuna—the devil himself, the menace of the office, the man who had apparently made three secretaries quit in a single week—was nice. or, well, nice enough.
he nodded, grumbled out a respectful “yeah,” and got to work. no backtalk, no glaring, no slamming of desks or throwing office supplies at interns. just grumpy efficiency. you smiled. bright. cheerful. unshaken.
“great! looking forward to working with you.”
then, the moment you turned your back? he was a goddamn menace. “oi, dipshit,” sukuna barked across the office, and some poor intern visibly flinched. “why the fuck is my report missing page five?”
“um—”
“no, don’t ‘um’ me. are you illiterate? do you need me to read the assignment out loud for you like you’re in fuckin' kindergarten?”
“no, sir, i just—”
“fix it.”
when you turned back around, brows raised? sukuna was already back to his task, perfectly behaved, like an honor student trying not to get caught. you frowned, a little suspicious. he blinked at you. innocent. wide-eyed. docile.
…okay, maybe the HR rumors were exaggerated. maybe he was just misunderstood. but then you turned away again, and—
“hey, you, yeah, you—who the fuck made this spreadsheet? a blind goat?!”
this cycle repeated daily. whenever you were around, sukuna was just a grumpy but functional employee. he answered your questions, finished his work on time, and—god forbid—was even kind of charming when he wasn’t glaring at people. but the moment you left the room? utter carnage.
by week two, everyone in the office knew.
one particularly brave soul even tried to test it. “hey, sukuna,” some junior exec chirped while you were grabbing coffee, “think you could help me review this client file?” sukuna barely spared them a glance. “sure.”
but then you left to take a phone call.
“are you incapable of using your own goddamn brain, or is it just decorative?”
you walked back in. “everything okay?”
sukuna, completely blank-faced: “yeah.”
everyone was traumatized. you? completely clueless. until one day, you walked into the office a little earlier than usual and caught him—midway through roasting some poor IT guy’s entire existence. you cleared your throat. sukuna froze.
then, he straightened his tie, rolled his shoulders back, and—without missing a beat—“ah, boss. g'morning.” like nothing happened.
you blinked. he blinked back.
…this motherfucker.

❄️ Day 7 – Make do

Location: [Redacted]
EST. remng. time until exfil: 8 hrs. 4 min. 37 sec.
The wind is howling outside the shabby safe house, whistling through the creaks and cracks of withered floorboards while the rain keeps pouring down in ice buckets, fat drops pounding against the leaky windows.
You fear the seemingly ancient hut might cave in like an unstable card house with each violent gust of wind.
It’s definitely not cosy and anything but how you’d imagine to spend your holidays this year, but alas – you’re in the military, freshly recruited by a secret special ops task force just a handful of weeks ago, and neither war nor terrorism take a break, so you won’t, either. And you’re still trying to proof yourself to them, to those rugged, dominant and battle-hardened alpha soldiers.
Still, you’ve been away from a proper nest for nearly a month now and it’s starting to make you terribly anxious. You cannot possibly be of any use for your assigned alphas like this, not if you can’t even take care of yourself properly, and it’s showing.
Sometimes, the novelty of this arrangement catches up to you, makes you question your whole being and purpose. Especially, when you struggle to approach certain members of the squad to even offer your help and do your job. However, Captain Price had informed you in the beginning that you’re their first assigned emotional support omega, that some of his soldiers have never even been in close proximity to one before. He never told you who, but you already have a good hunch.
You don’t want them to know about your inner turmoil, though; don’t want them to think of you as some spoiled, prissy omega when you’re definitely still a soldier, as capable of the same war atrocities as they are – even if your nature gets in the way sometimes.
So, you do what you do best, grit your teeth, keep your demeanour neutral and make your usual rounds, seeing if anyone is in need of your support, though you’re ready for their usual declination – which is something that stings even worse than your own unmet need for comfort.
Nuzzling the cold tip of your nose into the thick collar of your winter combat jacket, you peel yourself away from the raggedy cot in the guest bedroom, boot-clad feet dragging along the creaking floorboards as you square your shoulders despite your own discomfort and walk down the short hallway into the dimly lit, sparsely furnished open living room.
And your nose immediately wrinkles at the concoction of sour, agitated alpha scents, cigar smoke, gun oil and musty wood. It’s bad enough to make your eyes water, but you swiftly blink away the gloss in your eyes, determined not to let them know how bad this is.
“Gentlemen,” you speak your greeting into the room, clearing your dry throat awkwardly as you assess the situation while the men barely seem to acknowledge you.
Captain Price is standing by a cracked window, puffing on a stubby cigar while staring outside into the semi-darkness, watching the storm, his broad shoulders tense and spine rigid.
Gaz is reading a worn softback book, sitting in the corner of the shabby couch where the old standard lamp flickers every couple of seconds, his dark brows drawn together in concentration, though his eyes barely move.
Soap is slumped in the only upholstered armchair, the battered cushions looking like they’ve seen better days; long legs stretched out in front of him, his bulky arms resting on each armrest while his head is tilted back, eyes flickering behind closed eyelids.
And the Lieutenant, Ghost, is sitting at the wobbly table on an equally wobbly chair in the darkest corner of the room, sharpening and cleaning his ballistic knives, the heavy scent of restlessness accumulated in his spot, though, as usual, his expression is hidden behind his skull mask, an air of indifference carefully crafted around his self while his own nature betrays him.
Their behaviour is making your stomach twist into knots and you swallow down a soft whine as your inner omega starts trembling with anxiety.
Then, Soap speaks up, his gruff, roguish voice breaking the tense silence, “Ye busy, sweetheart?”
You blink dumbly, eyes flickering around the room, unsure if he’s truly talking to you or–
But Soap lifts his head then, a boyish grin on his lips as his bright cerulean eyes lock with your, nearly making you squeak in surprise.
“C’mere, Corporal.” He says, lifting his bare right hand and curling his index finger, beckoning you over playfully before patting his thick thighs. It’s not an order, but the sudden interaction between you and the Sergeant has the other alphas perk up one way or another.
Price glances over his shoulder, blowing out a thick plume of smoke around the cigar between his lips. Gaz looks up from the pages of his book, one eyebrow raised curiously, his warm brown eyes flickering between Price, Soap and you while Ghost stops polishing one of his knives briefly before proceeding again.
It’s the first time one of them has made the conscious decision to ask for your presence, disregarding the brief and rare sniffs all of them have taken of your comforting omega scent in between action and battles.
Almost unconsciously, you give a stiff nod before approaching him while he sits up straighter in the armchair, moving his legs and angling his knees to give you more space.
“How–uhm–How do you… want me, Sergeant?” You ask tentatively, oblivious to the double-meaning of your innocent question, struggling to keep up your professionalism as you rock back and forth on your heels, heart pounding in your throat.
Soap’s formerly tired, half-lidded eyes light up with mirth as he drinks in your uncertainty, and deep down, he feels so bad for himself for denying himself and you this comfort that you and the rest of the squad so desperately need – all on orders from Price; the admonition from several weeks ago still ringing in the young Sergeant’s ears.
“Don’t overwhelm her, lads. She’s precious tha’ one, a bloody fine soldier, and we wanna keep her around with us.”
But the Captain forgot that this is literally your job, that this is why you’re here with them in the first place, and gods damn, Soap needs a whiff of your scent, of something else but his or his pack mates acrid stench – something more like candied apples, cinnamon and fresh wildflowers – something more like you, sweet, sweet omega.
Soap holds his right hand out to you and waits for you to reach out as well, before he grasps your smaller, cold hand swiftly, pulling you onto his lap while he keeps you steady with his left, manhandling you until you’re sitting perched up oh so prettily on his broad lap.
Your lashes flitter briskly, bright doe-eyes flickering nervously as you drink in his features this up close and Soap is preening internally at the reaction you’re showing him, so surprised and almost innocent despite your occupation.
“Ye like sitting here with me, aye, sweetheart? Not too much for ye, innit?” He queries nicely, loud enough for the others, especially Price, to hear, while the corners of his eyes crinkle with giddiness.
You scan the room discreetly, vigilant eyes moving left and right, like prey looking out for predators, unsure if this might be some kind of test perhaps, to see if you’re a good omega, able to do what you’re supposed to. Looking back into Soap’s pretty eyes, you give a slow nod, “Yes and no, sir.”
“Aye… thought so.” Soap chuckles gruffly, pulling you closer against his buff chest, eager to have your warmth and scent seep through his clothes, mark his skin and calm his restless soul.
Gaz can’t take it anymore, can’t even continue pretending to be preoccupied with this stupid book in his hands. Not when you’re sitting on Soap’s lap like that, whispering and giggling with him like you’ve never done anything else before. It had already been hard enough, acting as if you weren’t there since you joined the team, when all Gaz wants to do is bury his face in your neck, nuzzle your soft skin, cuddle you close and have your soothing purrs reverberate against his chest.
He didn’t have a chance to hear them yet, but he’s sure you would make the cutest sounds and noises.
His jaw ticks when a whiff of your saccharine scent wafts over to him while he’s still seated on the shabby couch, just a few metres away from you. Perhaps, he could just snatch you right out of Soap’s hold–
The low rumble of Price’s chiding alpha growl makes Gaz bristle, eyes widening imperceptibly as he ducks his head slightly, because how did the old geezer even sense that he was becoming jealous… and possessive.
Suddenly, Soap calls out, “Oi, Garrick? Ye want a turn?”
Gaz perks up; closing the book at once, though he looks over at the Captain for guidance and permission, because he sure as hell won’t disobey a direct order like Soap did when the latter had asked for your comfort.
Meanwhile, Price’s annoyance is still simmering below the surface, vein throbbing rhythmically in his neck as he listens and watches how the Scottish Sergeant is acting with you, all gentle and playful, practically putty in your presence.
The room reeks less of agitation and discomfort now, their aggressive alpha pheromones now dulled and whitewashed by your strong, syrupy omega scent, melodic giggles and dainty demeanour, and Price has to admit, Soap does seem to be in higher spirits now.
So, he meets Gaz’ pleading eyes with a firm nod, and watches the younger alpha scramble to his feet, opening his arms invitingly, while Price keeps his distance, chewing on the glimmering cigar stump to ease his own restlessness.
“Hand her over, MacTavish,” Gaz huffs, long fingers wiggling in anticipation, “You wanna stay with me a bit, hm, sunshine? Aye, ‘course you do–” He coos at you, leaning in a little and getting a first real nose full of your intoxicating scent at this proximity. His pupils dilate at once, making Soap chuckle as he loosens his arms around you reluctantly.
You answer with equal eagerness, eyes twinkling happily as you slip into Gaz’ strong arms, chirping, “Yes, sure!”
You end up sandwiched between Soap and Gaz on the small couch, cooped up in two different pairs of strong, bulky arms while both young alphas gush over you, courting for your attention as they nuzzle, kiss and lick your neck, your hair, any patch of exposed skin they can reach. You don’t mind them scent marking you for the first time, don’t mind the way they’re getting excited as you feel their big bulges strain against the rough fabric of their combat trousers whenever you’re switched back and forth in their embraces.
Just once do you need to correct Soap’s behaviour by pinching the nape of his neck, when he bucks his hips up against your clothed core, rubbing his growing arousal against you briefly. But Gaz chides him, too, and that’s that before you continue coddling them as much as they do you.
Ghost is usually great at blending out his surroundings while simultaneously being hyper-aware of them, but you’re slowly and surely starting to get under his scarred, pale skin, carefully chipping away at his resolve with each tentative offer of your assistance to him and his packmates, always looking mighty eager to please and serve.
Fucking hell.
It's sickening, really, how your enticing omega scent seeps even through the barrier of black cloth covering his nose.
He’s never allowed himself to smell something so sweet, let alone be in close proximity with someone like you.
When Price had submitted the application for an emotional support omega for the 141 to the brass, Ghost had nearly lost it and, in a semblance of panic, threatened with both resignation and applying to transfer to another task force, anything that would put space between himself and any omega, not trusting himself to be around something precious and fragile like that.
And then you showed up one day, pretty as a peach, ripe as one, too, and Ghost reluctantly accepted your presence with a grumble, enforcing Price’s order not to get too close to you, though, that’s easier said than done, he’d learned fairly quickly.
Now, Ghost can barely keep himself from staring at the couch, where both Soap and Gaz are seemingly having the time of their lives – basking in the attention of their own little omega. He’s never seen the two alpha Sergeant’s act so bloody… corny.
And yet, the Lieutenant can’t help and wonder how it must feel like to hold you, to feel your weight on his lap and feel your hair tickle his nose when he leans in to–
“I know what I said about her,” Price clasps his heavy hand on Ghost’s shoulder, bringing him back to reality, “– but perhaps you shouldn’t keep restraining yourself like that, Simon,” The Captain mutters, “It ain’t healthy.”
“An’ what about you, sir?” Ghost counters, not looking up as he finishes up polishing his last knife for the third time.
Price huffs in amusement, fishing another cigar from one of his breast pockets.
“Don’t ya worry about me, lad.”
When Soap pulls back from your kiss-swollen lips at once, you whine softly, chasing after his pretty mouth, already utterly spoiled bit the little bit of attention you’d gotten from the young Sergeants, until the expression on his handsome face makes you pause and snap out of your contented daze.
“Ye ready for a turn, Lt.? Think ye can handle it?” Soap snickers while Gaz scoots to the other end of the couch, clearing his throat loudly, looking at anything but the behemoth of an alpha in his black combat uniform, now standing in front of the couch.
Your eyes go comically big as you tilt your head back against Soap’s broad shoulder to gaze up at the stoic Lieutenant; the cloth of his skull mask now tucked up to the bridge of his crooked nose, revealing dirty blonde stubble and several thick silvery scars along his exposed neck and the lower half of his face while his onyx eyes stare down at you with unmatched intensity.
“I dunno, Johnny,” Ghost gruffs out, tongue darting out to lick his chapped bottom lip, “Think yer pretty bird can handle me?”

i want to talk about this idea the fandom has that curly didn't do anything to help anya. the fact of the matter is, curly didn't do anything to help anya on screen.
when we first join the conversation, anya's already told curly about the assault and is just updating him on her pregnancy status. we're never privy to what that first conversation looked like, what anya said or how curly responded or what decisions were made about it. but given that anya confided in him twice more about the situation (that she was pregnant and later that she had told jimmy), i have to assume his response to the initial assault disclosure was sufficient enough in her eyes that she knew she could continue confiding in him.
this exchange reads to me like "what to do about the assault" has been an on-going conversation between them, but curly has limited options to help her. but if he could figure out something to do, he'd do it.
let's look at the options available:
report it to HR. i don't think this option is very viable for a few reasons:
first, pony express doesn't seem to care about its employees. there aren't locks on their bedroom doors, there's only enough food and oxygen to get them from port to port with no emergency allotment, there are more crew than cryopods, they're not allowed to sleep for more than 5 hours a night, etc. i don't think they would have done anything to support her even if they had reported it.
HR may even blame anya for the assault, they may say that it happened because of something she did or did not do. it's her responsibility to take, not theirs.
second:
(thank you to @mudstoneabyss for pointing this one out to me)
curly needs this money because he's considering changing careers, which is likely to result in a pay cut or some amount of time job-hunting without income. swansea has a family back home he needs to provide for. it's daisuke's first year on the job and what a piss-poor welcome a pay cut would be, and he's an intern so the pay cut may be all or most of his salary. jimmy is living in poverty. anya has no savings.
it's entirely possible anya asked curly not to file an HR complaint not only because it would make her financial situation worse, but because she doesn't want to ask him, swansea, and daisuke to literally pay for jimmy's actions.
third:
even if curly did file an HR report he may have been told to do nothing. it's a long trip and they need all hands on deck to make the delivery on time! productivity over employee welfare. it's his job to keep the peace but keep jimmy working.
given how much stress curly's shown to be under, it can be assumed being captain is an extremely taxing job with a lot of both assigned duties and off-book duties. it may not actually be feasible to run the ship without a co-pilot.
maybe all he could do was talk to him.
2. go to the police. are there even police in space? i have to assume so because the alternative poses way too many questions. so there's space police. curly and anya call them and they come to the tulpar and dock on the ship and do an investigation and what happens to that limited food and air supply? the late delivery fee?
i'm a psychologist and my first psychology job was working as a crisis counselor for my county. my primary job was to sit with rape survivors as they had their rape kits done and support them as they made their reports to the police. this may not be true everywhere or across the board or in this dystopia but in my experience the police won't take a rape case seriously, or will have limited options to prosecute, or maybe won't even take the case at all without a rape kit.
so curly and anya call the police. they're going to have to file with HR too, to let the company know what's going on. and now anya has to pay for an HR complaint, a late delivery, and a rape kit.
is she going to get this paycheck at all?
3. curly acts on his own accord. this is the one that makes the least amount of sense to me, personally.
if curly just beats the shit out of jimmy then what? now jimmy's mad and embarrassed and takes it out on anya. we're going to confront him and risk making her suffering worse?
curly can't lock jimmy in his quarters for the duration of the trip not only because, as i said, maybe having a co-pilot is necessary for the ship to operate, but there are not locks on the doors.
curly can't lock him in the cargo hold because a) pony express would probably be beyond pissed off about that and who knows if the crew's pay would get docked or curly would get fired or if dragonbreath would sue them all for property damage and contamination. b) how do we get food and water to him? let him go to the bathroom? we open the doors and he busts out and who knows how violent he'll be then.
curly isn't going to kill him because a) that's one of his oldest friends, and i don't care what he's done or how angry curly is or how badly he wants to help anya, i really don't think it's realistic to think he'd be able to separate the anger from the love enough to end his life. b) it's cold-blooded, premeditated murder. it'd be one thing if curly caught jimmy in the act and killed him in defense of anya, he could maybe get away with that. but after the event is over? curly's going to jail for that, possibly for the rest of his life. if you worked at the post office and a coworker told you your best friend since childhood raped her are you clocking out and going to his house and killing him? it's not reasonable. i'm also just really floored how often i've seen this option brought up on the "prison reform abolish the police no matter how bad you are you still deserve human rights" website.
i also don't think it's reasonable, realistic, or kind to ask curly to act on his own accord without consulting anya. for curly to go against her wishes or act without her consent, that's further taking agency away from her. that's another man deciding what happens in her life. even if curly wanted to beat jimmy up or lock him away or kill him, maybe anya asked him not to.
so i ask, what was curly supposed to do? what did he and anya explore as options? what did anya ask him to do? we don't know and we'll never know. and that was intentional on wrong organ's part.
i don't say any of this to discount or discredit conversations or explorations or analyses about the role The Boys Club, toxic masculinity, and bro culture play into the plot, themes, narrative, or personal take-away players have. i fully 100% agree with, support, and endorse those narrative because despite everything i just said above, it's also true that curly is partially responsible.
it's true that he was irresponsible and an enabler for helping jimmy cheat on his psych exam, but there's no evidence at all that he's a conspirator to sexual assault and abuse, that he was going to cover for jimmy in a court of law. all he said was they would figure it out, and that could mean a whole lot of things.
i think curly has some percentage of the blame for what happened on the tulpar, i just don't think that percentage is as large of a number as a lot of people seem to believe. i'm not asking that we forgive or apologize or absolve curly, what i am asking is that we try to look at the situation with more nuance and empathy and good faith.
i don't think curly was a bad man or a bro who was ignoring anya and covering for jimmy's actions. but i also don't think he did enough to help her. he was never good at seeing the small details amongst the larger picture. he couldn't see jimmy for the dead pixel he was.
i think curly was sleep deprived, possibly under-fed, definitely overworked, and juggling too many balls with not enough options. i think he made the wrong choice, but i think he thought it was the lesser of the evils.

John Price and the sweet pet that sits in his office all day
You've been watching him: the way his fingers wrap around his too-expensive pen, the way his suits seem to fit him stupidly well in a way where you (and every other person who is lucky enough to see him) can appreciate his muscles flexing when he moves around the office, or the way his voice always gets softer when it comes to you.
He's been watching you—not because he's subtle about it (at least when it's just the two of you), but because he just appreciates a little too much the way the valley of your breasts plays peek-a-boo from inside your perfectly ironed blouse. He loves the way your eyes sparkle when he praises how perfect your work is, and he's not shy about giving you small trinkets when you do a perfect job.
Has he ever told you he loves the way that skirt looks on you? Or that he loves when you wear those pants that make your ass jiggle in a way that has him staring, almost counting how many small bounces they make from his desk to yours?
Of course not! That's not what a boss–employee relationship should be like. But he makes sure to make you walk around, doing some stupid assignments just so he can appreciate you.
Today is no exception; he has been keeping you busy with so many small and simple things that anyone could do, but he wants you to because "you're the only one who does a great job around here, sweetheart."
And it was fine... at least for the first couple of hours. But now? Now you're pissed because you'll have to stay in the office until late to finish a presentation for tomorrow's meeting.
And when he calls you to his office to get him a coffee because he'll also be staying late, you get a bit too mouthy—but you're just stressed! You didn't mean to be a bit of a brat.
Poor, sweet thing. You should've controlled yourself better—all he wanted you to do was make him a fucking coffee. And then, you could have gone back to sit pretty at your desk, with that little frown sitting between your brows as you try to finish your actual work.
So when you come back with his coffee in the mug that says "Boss #1," he doesn't even look at it, and instead walks up to you, looking you up and down before his hand makes contact with your chin, his thumb carving into the soft meat of your cheeks as he makes you look at him.
What are you going to do, go to HR? After he's been the best boss you could've ever asked for?
So now you're sitting down on his desk with your legs spread open and head thrown back, the coffee sitting there long forgotten. He is kneeling between your legs with both of his hands gripping your thighs to stop you from squirming away because "it's too much", and you can't keep still. Poor little sensitive thing. Should've thought better before acting like a spoilt brat who can't follow a simple order.
He's basically slurping every single drop of your wetness as your eyes roll back every time his beard brushes against your clit, and as the greedy man he is, he's definitely fucking you too with his fingers after he found that spot that automatically made you feel high.
And you're crying because he doesn't let you come; he stops every time you start clenching around his fingers, moving his face away from your cunt just to laugh at you, and if you try to move your hips to grind around something, anything really, he would slap your pussy a few times.
"She's a better girl than you, sweet thing."
He lets you go an hour later, saying "that presentation won't finish itself alone, darling".
But now you're motivated! he promised to finally help you cum if you did a good job as always!

Yandere Harem Coworkers x New Hire Reader
Now with a part 2 <3
Good news: You landed your dream job! Bad news: Your coworkers are fucking insane.
CW: Yanderes, workplace harassment, possessiveness, implied stalking, power dynamics, dubcon touching
You hadn't expected a job like this to come so easily.
It really had been a dream job from the moment you laid eyes on the job posting, and they'd even offered you better during the interview! They'd even thrown in an extra sign on bonus! You couldn't believe your luck. You were finally going places.
Really, how could you say no?
Your interviewer was the HR manager, Leon Jacobs. He was a stern looking man, clearly in his late 40's, and didn't seem to have a single flaw in his appearance. His age showed in the beginnings of grey hairs atop his tidy, shortcut black hair, and the creases beneath his eyes. His appearance was beyond intimidating. Dark, scowling eyes picked you apart from behind his glasses as you fidgeted in your chair. Whatever nightmare of an interview you thought was coming, never happened. Instead, you were surprised when he almost immediately offered you not only the job, but an even better salary and bonus than was advertised. You were almost too stunned to speak, as he held out his hand to shake, his dark expression lifting with the slightest twitch of his lips. You took his hand shakily in agreement. In your excitement, you didn't notice the way his hand gripped yours a hair too tight, or how his touch lingered for a few moments longer than it should have. The way his gaze intently followed your figure as you walked out was also missed by you.
"We're so happy to welcome you to the team. Our team will make sure your time working here is as pleasant as possible."
Your trainer is a well respected man, Warren Pen. Warren is a huge man, easily towering over you. While he'd be otherwise intimidating at his size, his warm expression and demeanor quickly puts you at ease. How could you be afraid of him, with his warm brown eyes and bouncy red curls and gentle smile? You quickly learned that he must have a pretty high position in the company. His office alone was almost as big as your entire apartment! The office they give you is nearly as big, much to your surprise. Warren reassures you that it's not a mistake, that they just want you to be comfortable in your new position. You are so very important to the company, after all. As he helps you settle in, you're amazed by his generosity and kindness. You're too happy to question why there's such a big office space right next to his open for you, or why such a high ranking worker would be assigned to train a newbie. You're initially confused about why all your other coworkers seem to cower away from him... until you see him lose it on a poor intern. His demeanor changed from a gentle giant to a raging monster within the blink of an eye, screaming at the intern over a simple filing mistake. You find yourself suddenly on your toes around him, waiting for a verbal barrage over one of your mishaps, but it never comes.
"Don't worry, I'd never treat you like that. They deserved it. You're doing perfect."
Your department's boss is a man named Jax Wright. Jax is a charming man, and the childhood best friend of Warren. He's slim and tall, with black hair and a slightly rugged appearance. He always seems to be in a rush, hair usually rustled and a 5 o'clock shadow a constant on his face. Yet, he somehow takes time out of his busy day to visit you. Or, more accurately, he finds the time to corner you when you're alone or with Warren. You don't want to lose this dream of a job, so you don't mention the way the childhood friends always find a way to crowd around you in the more narrow hallways or the breakroom. They insist you have lunch everyday with them, why would you want to eat by yourself? You really shouldn't deny your superiors' lunch requests, y'know. You ignore the lingering touches as he leans in far closer than necessary to examine your work, hands placed possessively on your shoulders. He loves to give you overwhelming praise, even for the most minor of accomplishments. You're afraid your other coworkers will think the worst of you because of the special treatment, but they seem to be avoiding you nearly as much as they avoid Warren.
"Good job. You're exceptional as always. It's been an absolute pleasure to work with you. Keep being good and you're bound for a raise."
With the rest of the department seeming to avoid you like the plague, you start to believe that you're stuck with just the overbearing childhood friends to talk to. That is until the secretary, Jake Moor, begins to talk to you. Jake is flamboyant, to say the least. He's bright, from his beaming white smile to his wide array of cute, colorful ties he matches with his suit. He's young, in his early 20s, and his bright blonde hair only adds to his youthful appearance. He's almost too much, talking at light speed and somehow being more touchy than your boss. He always finds a reason to pull you into hugs, or rustle your hair playfully. It doesn't bother you much though, he's just being friendly, right? And you really don't want to lose one of the few friends you have in the department. He has some sort of treat for you everyday, usually a homemade meal or pastry you have to find the time to eat alone before you're coworkers steal you away to have lunch with them. His cheerful nature motivates you to stay with the company, he really is your "beacon of light". You even find yourself giggling to yourself as he sends you silly motivational cat pictures throughout your day. He's so cute you don't even question how he got your number when you never gave it to him yourself. You do find it a bit odd that he knows exactly where to go when your car breaks down one day and he gives you a ride home, but you'd told him you lived in those apartments on the east side, remember? He'd never use his position to look at confidential paperwork. Never.
"I brought you in some cookies I baked last night, and here, I even made some dog treats! I've never made them before, let me know how he likes them! How did I know you have a dog? ...you told me, remember? Silly!"
As the weeks pass, you start to become more accustomed to your coworker's odd mannerisms. They still wear on you, but the money is just so good. You need it, where else would you even go? There's no chance you'd find anything near as good, if you found anything at all. You needed this job, Jax and Warren's overbearing natures aside. At least you had Jake, who always seems to know exactly what you need whenever you need it.
You can tough it out... right?

Hospital Barbie 🧰
Dr. John Shen x F admin!reader Word count: 2.2k guess who didnt proofread yes me
When you were assigned to "oBsErVe OpErAtiOns" as part of a vaguely defined Strategic Initiatives role (read: nepotism), no one expects much, least of all, The Pitt's freshest attending, Dr. John Shen, who's too busy keeping patients alive and admins at bay.🥤
Night 1: The elevator takes its time taking you down the lower level floor. Gloria Underwood, the CMO and your direct supervisor, had asked you to observe the emergency department's night shift and take notes. "Don't interfere, don't distract anyone. Just observe, and take notes." Were Gloria's stern instructions. Notes on what? You forgot to ask her. Its too late now though. Admin has clocked out hours ago.
The elevator doors open and you are immediately greeted by the strong smell of saline and disinfectant. You try to stride confidently, staying out of the way as you straighten the "Strategic Initiatives Assistant" badge on your dark blazer, a contrast to your "I 💉 PTMC" shirt underneath. On one hand, you're clutching your notebook, a cold cup of matcha on the other. You approach the central hub to look for an attending.
"Oh my god, we're totally getting shut down." Doctor Parker Ellis notices you walking by. Next to her, Doctor John Shen looks up from the chart. "What?" "She's here! That's the owner's daughter!" Ellis subtly tilts her head to your direction as you introduce yourself to the charge nurse.
John was on the loop with Gloria nagging the day shift about the hospital's satisfaction scores. Robby keeps the groupchat updated as often as he can and Abbot would respond with a thumbs up as soon as he reads it. Looks like its his turn to deal with admin today.
"Actually, not today." John turns away and heads to south when he sees the charge nurse look around for him.
You are offered one of the comfier swivel chairs in the station as you take in the 10pm emergency department war zone of your family's hospital. You were in a good mood, feeling really fortunate to have something to do to help.
"My god, that nepo hire doesnt know what she's doing.." a nurse whispers to John. He chuckles, giving you a quick glance before turning away. "She's smiling like she's watching puppies in a shelter…" he adds, chucking his gloves in the trash.
"Hey. I'm not really sure what's going on, but… you're doing a really good job." You suddenly appear next to Doctor Shen, startling him. "Sorry, what?" He asks, looking confused. "You. All of you. It's kind of amazing. This place is nuts, and you're still here. That's cool." You smile, keeping your hands in your blazer pockets. John blinks. "Oh!" You apologize and introduce yourself. "I'm the Strategic Initiatives Assistant. Gloria sent me here to loiter and write reports about your vibes." You explain. That doesn't make anything clearer for John.
Later in the shift, you return to your perch at the hub. During a lull, a couple of doctors ask you about your suspicious presence. "What, are you gonna write us up for not labeling IV lines fast enough?" Someone asks. "Not at all! I think you guys are very efficient. Its amazing. Great job, thank you for your service." You say sincerely. The nurses side-eye each other.
A few hours past midnight, the entire ED is unsettled with your presence. "Is she still here?" "Maybe she's, like, undercover?" "Do you think she's HR?" "She told me I was doing great. Am I… in trouble?" John tries to calm everyone.
The shift finally wraps up. John did his best to ignore you, even with your odd comments like: "Ooh, nice intubation!" "That was a really smooth IV!" "Your handwriting's actually readable. Iconic." Oh boy. He has a lot to report to the PTMC attendings groupchat.
JACK: "Is that a one time thing or is she observing tonight as well" JACK: "Question"
John huffs. He doesnt want to talk to her but Abbot deserves a heads up since he's taking tonight's shift. So he approaches you.
"Hi, hey uh.. will I see you again tonight-?" John blinks, "That's not what I meant." "I can come back if you want me to!" You laugh, playing along. 'NO! No, I mean, well, my colleague was just checking if are you still observing tonight is all…" John suddenly feels jittery. Shouldn't have had that third cup. "Oh so you won't be here tonight. That's a shame. I guess I'll sit tonight out." You shrug. John pauses. And then asks: "were you flirting with me?" "Ha! You started it!" You laugh. "I- I didn't mean it like that-" He's deadpans, trying not to be flustered.
"Okay fine, I'm flirting because your shoulders are kind of unfair and I think your face is cute when you get annoyed." You answer. He wished you didn't because he might be going into a cardiac arrest right now and he's half-blaming the coffee.
You head back to the administrative floor to hand off the notes you've taken. A gleaming report that concluded in "possible error in data collection and computation of satisfaction ratings" because how can someone be unhappy if they leave the emergency department in one piece?! (Usually)
Emergency Department Night Shift Staff Report
Patient Interactions: Positive! ✨ Responsiveness: Amazing!🤩 Doctor Highlight: Dr. John Shen😍 - composed, efficient, nice hands Notes: • Everyone's doing their best! 👍 • I would trust these people with my life!! 🫰 • One nurse called me 'sweetie.'😘 Loved that. • Did not observe any disorganization.💪 • Maybe a dog mascot would help?🐶
Meanwhile, John also types up his Attendings groupchat report: "She was sitting there. Smiling and being all cute while drinking matcha like it’s a goddamn high school lunch break.”
ROBBY: “And that upset you?” JOHN: “It’s weird. It's unprofessional. It’s distracting. Like, why is she even there?” ROBBY: “Maybe she likes the show. We’re sexy when we’re stressed.” JACK: 👍 ROBBY: “You like her. She's pretty, she's your type." JOHN: ????? ROBBY: “You’ve been talking about her here for the entire duration of your shift. Last week you only said five words to me total. And three of them were ‘need more gauze.’” JOHN: "Would you just get your ass here so I can go home?" ROBBY: "Already rounding the corner, brother😂"
Night 4: You have long abandoned taking notes after your first observation. Gloria didnt have any input on the notes you submitted, probably because she didn't read it in the first place. Of course, no one wants to hear the nepo baby's opinion. You haven't submitted anything since and no one seems to notice. You decide to just enjoy the view, observe the night shift, and watch John Shen.
The doctor in question walks by, and you perk up like a sunflower tracking the sun. John is fast, precise, cool as a cucumber and undeniably good at what he does.
"She's been doodling hearts around your name today…" Doctor Parker walks with him. John sighs and tries to ignore her, until he sees you walking up to him. "Hi, Dr. John!" You smile, like sunshine warming him all over. "oh, hey hospital Barbie…" He tries to keep his neutral expression, making sure his deadpan voice isn't giving away any giddy feelings. You gasp. Oh no, he's ruined it. He's ruined his job and his shot. "Hospital Barbie?! So you think I'm pretty?" You grin, stepping closer. He tries not to panic, pulling a bay curtain between the two of you so John can pretend to look into a patient.
You huff and walk back to the hub, watching the charge nurse pick up the phone. Her expression changes before announcing "guys, MVA inbound, 18 passengers, four confirmed critical."
Yikes. You get up and watch the department buzz to life. Gurneys pulled out, trauma bays restocked, comms explode. "Is there anything I can do to help?" You ask. A nurse glances at you. "Stay out of the way, sweetie." You gulp, feeling like you need to apologize for existing. John sees your reaction and makes his way over to you while putting on fresh gloves. "Hey, you good? There's a social worker on shift. She'll be in the waiting room. Families of the patients are going to start pouring in. You'd be good there." He instructs, firm but calm. You nod, feeling a little lost in his eyes. He quickly makes his way by the entrance as the first of the ambulances roll in.
You split your time between the waiting room and the main floor of the ER. Nurses run here and there, stressed and exhausted, juggling current patients with the MVA patients, making do with the lack of staffing and upstairs beds. It takes hours before it finally calms down. Handing a tissue to one of the families of the victims, you decide to head back to see how things are going.
John's name is already on your lips before you realize you're whispering it. The fluorescent lights buzz overhead, but all you hear is the monitors beeping, tools clanking, nurses exchanging jargon. Then you see him: John Shen inside trauma bay 1, sweat lining his brows as he gives chest compressions to the teen laying motionless on the bed. Blood, sweat, and then silence. A nurse helps the attending down the gurney as he calls the time of death.
A gasp escapes your lips. Even when you're outside the bay, John seems to have heard you. He turns, pulls his gloves and gown off and squeezes some disinfectant before approaching you.
"Hey, you alright? Lets get you some air…" he ushers you out after noticing how you went pale.
It was quiet at the parking lot. John leans on one of the cars parked nearby and sighs. "You weren't supposed to see that." He says, suddenly feeling protective of you. "Why not?" You raise an eyebrow, watching him groan as he sits on the curb after being on his feet for hours. He shrugs. "This hospital has my last name on every wall. And I didn't even know what that meant until tonight. That kid… that kid died-" Your voice cracks. You try again. "There weren't enough nurses. There weren't enough beds. If the board had listened, if we actually fixed things instead of-" John takes your cold hand and gently pulls you to sit next to him. He doesn't say anything, and it makes you feel worse.
"I'm sorry. He was your patient. You lost him. And I'm here spiraling like it happened to me." John gives you a tired smile. "It did happen to you. Just differently." "I'm really sorry. How are you holding up?" You find yourself wanting to run your hands through his soft hair. So you do. John almost moans at the sensation. A few quiet beats almost lulls him to sleep as you continue massaging his scalp. "How do you even come back after this?" You whisper. "Sometimes… we win. We save someone who was never supposed to walk out. And it makes nights like this hurt a little less." He sighs, eyes closed. You take in his beautiful features in the low light. His eyelashes over tired eyes, his skin, his whole being. You spend a minute more in the quiet, just breathing, being next to each other, and being each other's support.
Back inside the emergency department, John slips right back to finish the last leg of his shift. Writing notes. Checking in with the residents. Staying naturally sharp and calm. But now he glances at you more often. He chuckles as he sees you nodding off at the hub, your messy bun lopsided, notebook long forgotten.
You are woken up by the man of your dreams about an hour later. John says your name as he gently shakes you awake. "Hey, come on. Let's get you home."
"You done?" You groan, your sore neck complaining as you sit up. "We both are. Come on, I'll drive you home."
You doesn't say a word. Just follow him to the car, and when he opens the door, you sink into the seat like it's where you're meant to be. You take in the smell of his car, his perfume, his coffee, and something rich and fragrant your brain can't name right now.
"Horizons Tower…" you murmur when he buckles up on the driver's seat. John glances over, brows lifting before he schools his expression into something neutral, polite, and professional. 'Of course she lives there.' He chuckles to himself.
You vaguely remember arriving. Maybe you offered him the pull-out couch. Maybe he was too tired to argue. Maybe you handed him a towel after he asked if he could shower first. Maybe he smiled and rolled his eyes at those cow-print pajamas you meant as a joke before disappearing into the shower.
It’s all a blur.
Hours later, you blink awake. Light is blocked out by your thick curtains. John is next to you, peacefully asleep, one arm tossed across your waist, absolutely hogging the blanket.
You don't move.
"I could get used to this." John mumbles. “Me too.”
You both fall quiet again, wrapped in the hush of the afternoon, the kind of silence that feels earned. Sunlight leaks through the gaps of your blackout curtains in lazy streaks, catching the rise and fall of his chest, warming the space between.
Your eyes flutter closed again. You think about snuggling closer. Maybe saying something stupid. Maybe meaning it. Maybe he feels that way too, after tonight. Your hand begins to drag closer to his when you hear a sudden knock on your door.
Your heart skips. Your eyes snap open.
Your phone had been buzzing on the coffee table. Three missed calls. From your dad.
You slowly glance at the door like it might bite and mutter under your breath: “…Please don’t be him.”
------------
I loooove John Shen he's my gummybear
I might come up with a part 2 of this where he meets the dad uwu

Charlie Reid has a lot of people who suck up to him. Some of that comes in the form of groveling or pathetic "yes" men or even good old-fashioned ass-kissing. But when you notice a new officer, a pretty young woman just like you, starts to flirt with him? Something vile and uncomfortable starts to bubble in your chest. The worst part? Charlie doesn't seem to mind it. He doesn't entertain the advances, but he doesn't shut them down either.
When he calls you into his office after you've been particularly cold to him for the last couple of days, that nasty feeling in your chest rears its ugly head.
"Can't work with you givin' me this attitude, baby girl." His voice is low, steady, but concern is laced within.
You just shrug, already leaning towards the closed door, when you realize that he only wants to talk, no assignment for you. "No attitude. Just being professional."
Charlie's eyebrow quirks, suspicious of your desire to head back to your own desk. "Since when have you skipped out on the chance to relieve some stress in my office, huh?" He questions.
His thighs are splayed like he assumed you would fall between them, desperate to suck his cock when you walked in. And, fuck, those tight jeans are outlining him so well, and he wasn't even hard.
It took every ounce of strength in your body to cross your arms, look away from the enticing spot on the floor in front of spread legs, and mutter, "Why don't you get that new officer to help you out instead?" It comes out as a hiss, the steam of your anger squeezing through your vocal cords.
Charlie's face softens, but then a slow smile creeps onto his lips. “My baby girl’s jealous?" He coos, rising to his feet, steps heavy as he closes the distance between you.
His hand raises to cup your cheek, directing your eyes to look at him. "Yeah? S'that it?" He hums.
You don't answer. You refuse to admit you were jealous over something that otherwise seemed unrequited, but there's no professional way to stake your claim on the Deputy Chief for the rest of the department to see. It would be a disastrous HR violation.
Charlie leans closer, his nose brushing against yours. “I get it. Got a lot of people suckin’ my dick to get what they want.” He whispers, lips brushing against yours as his mouth moved. “But don’t worry, baby girl. You’re the only face I’m fuckin’.”
