Summary: At thirty-four, Hikaru Shindo lives a good life, despite living with the memories of a haunting he can never speak up about. Across the country, Fujiwara no Sai does much of the same, except his ghosts are  memories of a world long gone, and a time period that now only exists in  history  books and fantasy manga. Perhaps that's why they're destined to meet  again - because both refuse to forget what's now in the past. Alternatively, Hikaru finds a living, breathing Sai who remembers nothing about  haunting him or Shuusaku over his thousand-year existence  as a ghost, but everything about his eighteen years on Earth, and the world and life he left behind when he committed suicide. [Post-canon, real time]

Chapter Summary: Friendship was the foundation of love.

Now that the story's reaching its midpoint, we're fullsteam ahead with their budding love story. Don't worry, it's still be many, many chapters before they get to the lovey dovey part. hikaru no go (/qi hun) doodle dump! this is all pretty experimental but i'm still figuring out how i want to draw them lol. i don't draw from live action shows very often, so i had to do a LOT of reference tracing from screencaps before i got a handle on their features....

i fell victim to my own hubris by not using any references for the two manga-based drawings though skfjskjffj. this is the first time fucking around on one layer has given me smth that actually kinda looks recognizable, at least

look i support Hikaru’s unrelenting obsession with Akira, but when he’s like… “but i have to quit the Go Club right before the competition…because the only thing I ever wanted was…Toya,” I sighed out loud. If he wanted to quit for ANY reason other than ambiguously gay rival obsession, I would support, but come on bros (gender neutral) over hoes (gender neutral) man.

I‘m rewatching Hikaru no go but it‘s been such a long time, I think the last time I was like 11. But it‘s like I‘m watching it for the first time all over again and I LOVE ITTTTTTT.
