He's going as a masked slasher because Stark managed to convince him, with his own agenda in mind. At a costume party, Stark wears the same costume and drugs said partner to sleep for a while, while he goes off and tricks y/m into thinking he's them and they hook up.'

There she was, the object of his desires and affection. It took months and months of Stark planning and subtly suggesting the idea of wearing a costume for once before they finally gave in. It was one night and one chance he had for this plan to work, making sure everything went how he wanted. He'd been sitting in the kitchen when he heard her, sipping on the expensive whiskey before humming. "Hey I heard you managed to convince him to dress up this year for once."
