Meiri snjó, meiri snjó.. by Ingólfur Bjargmundsson Via Flickr: In Icelandic there are at least 60 words that describe snow in one from or another. In this case that word would probably be púður snjór or powder snow.

🌠🌠🌠🌠 FUNERAL RITES 🌠🌠🌠🌠
The life of each beast is bright, full and worthy of composing a Song, but unfortunately it is not endless. And when the time comes, loved ones will have to take care of the mortal remains of their friend.
Tumblr media
Different cultures have different ideas about what should be done with the body after the soul leaves it. We know that sometimes souls stay in bodies and go with them to the Underworld.
🦴 Some beasts bury their dead so as not to offend the order of things and to accept the Underworld fate, if any.
🦴 Others, on the contrary, try their best to avoid the Underworld and hang their dead far away from the ground or bury them in rocks.
🦴 Others believe that if done this way, the body can come back to life if the soul happens to stay there. As was the case with the Sunken Dread.
Either way, it is a common ritual on Sko-Hjarn to keep the memory of the deceased alive. The details may vary from country to country, but overall the idea remains the same:
🌠 1. A bone is taken from the body of the deceased. It can be a phalanx of a finger, a paw, and in special cases, even a skull. The latter is not approved in all places, but where it is common, taking the skull is considered the most honorable option.
🌠 2. A figurine is made of clay, wood, metal or stone to reflect the external features of the deceased. Wealthy beasts with more time use stone and metal. A faster and cheaper option is clay. The wealth and status also determine the size of the figurine.
🌠 3. The bone is placed inside the figurine. The skull becomes the base for the head. Sometimes it is not even hidden under the material, but exposed, and an artificial body is added to it.
🌠 4. The tail is cut off from the deceased, and attached to the figure in a proper place. This is necessary to give similarity to the deceased, including scent. In many cultures, the tail is considered a very important part of identity.
🌠 5. The figurine is dyed to match the color of the deceased's fur. Additionally, a pattern hinting at the cause of death is applied. It may be stylized teeth marks in the place of a fatal bite, or there may be a swirl in the abdominal area, hinting at poisoning. Each animal makes it in their own way, which sometimes makes it hard to guess what happened to the beast. But usually this detail is very helpful to Myrilapian historians in determining the cause of death of a particular individual.
🌠 6. The further fate of the statuette can be different. Some leave the figure at the place of death of the deceased. Some take it to a place significant to then. Some keep it at home. Some put it where the body was buried or hidden.
🌠 7. If needed, the figure is renewed, painted, and sometimes molded anew from scratch. Of course, if there is anyone left who can do it.

skin!!! i Dont know your ocs, but i wanna find out!! :DD tell usssss
I've been putting off answering this question, sorry about that... It's hard enough for me to get the gist of the question. "Uncomfortable in their own skin." What does it mean? Is it figuratively or literally ?
So I chose the most appropriate characters First up, Wind Chaser
Tumblr media
He suffers from a "curse" - the ability to talk to ghosts, which makes him quite valuable for spirits of all kind (and not all of them are good ones). Combined with the indifference of his parents, the negative attitude of their tribe's hero to his origins and general unsociability... Making friends is very difficult for him. In the end he learns peace, not embittered but having grown a fair share of apathy. But those who treat him well, he can help (like connect them to their deceased loved ones).
Tumblr media
- Wind Chaser, please, talk to me - SHUT UP! (his parents - :\ ) Old comics from 2019...
To take "skin" literally, I have a fan character based on Mirolapye (my friend's setting, which I adore) Author links: Vkontakte FA An article with basic information about the world (may contain partially outdated information) The language of the article is Russian, but you can use a translator
Tumblr media
It's an esbeka named Vesna. She's a retired warrior who wants to travel to Sjell-Hjarn (the southernmost continent) As a member of a species of large northern cats, she is very upset that she can't live in the south. Mirolapye will often appear in my works, so stay tuned if you're interested :)

Possession got five nominations at this years Amanda awards (Amandaprisen). Maria Bjørnnes Hermansen got nominated for best makeup, Lise Hillkirk Olimb for best scenography/production design, Oskar Dahlsbakken for cinematography, Tormod Ringnes and Svein-Ketil Bjøntegård for music and Anna Filippa Hjarne for best supporting actress.
Even though Possession had its short comings and critics weren't always kind to it, I am glad that it got the due recognition for how well made this movie really is.
Congratulations to all nominees and best of luck in August!

P3 Morgen 221007
I've translated today's P3 Morgen interview on far too little sleep, so that's probably all the warning you should need. (I've also probably mixed up the two P3 Morgen guys more often than I got them right, which... ooops?)
Translation (hopefully...) under the cut - and remember as always that I'm a swede translating norwegian into english, so the odds on me fucking up are pretty low...
Adelina: That was Vibe Like This with SG Lewis and Ty Dolla $ign this friday morning, and while we listened to that, we’ve got some visitors and we can say good morning to you, Tarjei Sandvik Moe.
Tarjei: Hi.
Adelina: Hi. And to you, Anna Hjarne.
Anna: Hi.
Adelina: You have both visited us before, you in connection with the TV series Venner fra før, and you, Tarjei, where do I start, like, you can’t really get away from Skam - or have you begun to get away from Skam-Isak, or?
Tarjei: Yeah, but I’m sure I’ve been here before.
Adelina: You have been here before. Welcome back. You two are now acting in the same movie, called Forbannelsen. Anna, what kind of film is it?
Anna [spooky voice]: Ooooh… It’s a thriller placed in the early 20th century.
Tete: In Norway?
Anna: In Norway.
Adelina: When you say thriller, is it a thriller or is it a scary movie? Are we talking horror?
Tete: This is very important too Adelina.
Karsten: She needs to know if she’ll be able to sleep. She got nightmares from Hocus Pocus 2, so…
Anna: It is a very revolting, and in a way psychological, thriller.
Adelina: So horror, then. And it takes place in the 20th century.
Anna: Yes, 1918. When the Spanish flu was raging.
Adelina: Is this your first horror movie, Tarjei?
Tarjei: Definitely. First and last.
Tete: First and last, are there work related injuries, or?
Tarjei: Yeah, no, it was unpleasant. It was an unpleasant format. But fun.
Adelina: What’s your personal relationship to horror movies?
Anna: I think that they’re really exciting because they are a bit extra, like when you’re watching a film you can feel a little…
Tete: Do you like the excitement that you might get a bit frightened?
Anna: Yeah, actually, maybe a little.
Adelina: But don’t you get scared, because I understand that, I really understand that part of horror films.
Anna: I find it really fun.
Adelina: But when you have to get home afterwards and it’s dark in your flat…
Anna: You never… I almost said go home alone, but you should always have some company.
Tete: When you’ve seen a horror movie, yeah.
Adelina: What’s your relationship to horror movies, Tarjei, is it something you watch a lot?
Tarjei: No.
Adelina: No?
Tarjei: I don’t like them.
Karsten: What is it you don’t like about them?
Tarjei: No, I just think they’re uninteresting. I don’t like horror movies, me.
Tete: You don’t like horror movies, period, or?
Karsten: What about, like, something like Silence of the Lambs?
Tarjei: I haven’t seen it.
Tete: Excuse me?
Adelina: The last horror movie I saw left me traumatised. I shared a room with my big sister, and she hated me because the TV had to be moved out of the room. And that was because I watched The Ring and I was terrified for real. So have you seen The Ring, Tarjei?
Tarjei: No, I haven’t.
Adelina: What?
Karsten: Have you seen Scary Movie? I haven’t seen The Ring but I get the references to The Ring because I’ve seen Scary Movie. I got scared by Scary Movie.
Tete: Did you get scared by Scary Movie?
Karsten: Yeah, yeah, the humour is only based on horror movies and I thought it was creepy.
Adelina: Isn’t it difficult to act in a horror movie without having watched a single horror movie. Or do you have it in you?
Tarjei: No. I don’t like films.
Adelina: The actor who doesn't like films. It’s a joyful day to have you here with us, Anna and Tarjei, stay with us and we’ll talk more about Forbannelsen, but first we’ll listen to Vance Joy and Riptide
[music]
Adelina: Vance Joyce and Riptide on NRK P3 nine minutes past eight this friday where we’re talking about horror movies and are visited by Anna Hjarne and Tarjei Sandvik Moe who both are parts of [spooky voice] Forbannelsen. You have to say it like that because you have chosen a creepy word as the film title. I guess it’s all part and parcel of it. But we can listen to a small excerpt from the film trailer.
We have a sinner among us. And as we all know, the Lord judges
and the Lord punishes.
Yesterday we had one death. Today it seems we’ll have another two.
How can you sleep at night, not knowing whether you’ll wake up in
your own bed or in Hell?
Tete: Good morning and Happy Friday… Right away there I heard a sound that makes me have to ask the question, are there whips in the film? Are these whipping sounds?
Anna: A bit, yes. A bit.
Tete: There are? Are there?
Anna: You have to watch it. You have to watch the film.
Adelina: But, you two - Anna, you like horror films, and Tarjei, you don't think they’re anything special, but, sometimes when you’re watching a film that’s really creepy, do you remember that okay, there is a camera team and they say “cut” afterwards and then they eat lunch, and there are people there, it’s not real. Do you get less frightened by horror movies when you know how they are made, Anna?
Anna: Definitely. Now when people have watched the movie a lot of people ask if it wasn’t really creepy to do it, and then you think, no, not really, because, like, one scene began with us having waffles on set, right? But if it’s a good horror film, then I think that you forget that you’ve made the film.
Tete: You forget what’s happened behind the scenes. But were there any scenes where you thought, oh no, this is why I don’t like horror movies? Were you frightened on set?
Tarjei: No, I wasn't. I was relaxed, it was fun to be on set. But it was fascinating to watch Anna, who acted with contact lenses that made her blind. So Anna hasn’t seen anything.
Anna: I haven’t seen anything.
Tarjei: Her character is blind so she’s wearing contacts that make her blind.
Tete: Are you joking? Wow!
Karsten: So the contact lenses blocked you from seeing anything when you wore them?
Anna: That’s right, yes. They made me see white. All the time.
Karsten: Oh, I find that incredibly creepy. I have walked around here at NRK doing things blindfolded. I’ve made pizza blindfolded and it’s the worst thing I’ve done in all my life. You have a person beside you going, “Oh this is a very sharp knife”. Really dangerous.
Adelina: What was the most challenging with wearing the contacts then?
Anna: It was putting them in. But it was very exciting and very weird, because the character I play is really blind so when I put in contacts and don’t see anything then you get, in a way… it’s really difficult to do things. She’s really blind, and that’s something else.
Tarjei: I remember that people insisted that Anna should keep wearing the contacts.
Anna: Yeah, it’s the wildest thing I’ve ever done.
Karsten: But how would you make a sandwich? How would you know that you have enough toppings on your slice of bread then?
Anna: Right. I remember that it was difficult aiming the fork.
Karsten: Salad is hard to eat.
Adelina: But you got to take them out during lunch, or?
Anna: Yes, but I wasn’t very good at taking them out and putting them back in, so I stayed sitting with them in at least during that first lunch. And people were just, like, standing in front of me and waving.
Adelina: Did you ever prank her? It sounds like the perfect prank opportunity, Tarjei?
Tarjei: I shoved her quite a bit.
Adelina: She slipped and it was absolutely awful, but then there were waffles so it was fine.
Anna: Yeah, Tarjei stood there making waffles on set.
Adelina: And what was the most challenging thing for you, then? You didn’t really have these contacts to work with, but is there something with your character that made you go, “Hm, I’ll have to make an effort here.”
Tarjei: He’s an evil bastard, just like all the characters I play, so it was just to go back into the evil bastard thingy, always difficult, but… it went fine.
Adelina: Playing an evil bastard sounds pretty fun, though. Being the bad guy.
Tarjei: Really fun. I think it’s great to be an actor.
Anna: And you nail it too.
Tarjei: Thank you. You too, you’re very good at being blind.
Adelina: Fun and compliments, that’s our go-to. Stay with us for more Anna and Tarjei, but right now here’s Alan Walker and Iselin Solheim.
[music, news, and more music]
Adelina: Elton John and Dua Lipa with Cold Heart in P3 Morgen, today with you two, Tarjei Sandvik Moe and Anna Hjarne, who we can see in Forbannelsen, a horror film that you were at the premiere party for yesterday.
Everyone: Yeeeeeahhh!
Adelina: Do you have any juicy or fun things for the rest of us?
Anna: I didn’t wear contacts.
Tete: Oh, good. So you saw the film.
Anna: I saw the film.
Tarjei: What did you think about it?
Anna: I think it was… it was the second time I saw it, yesterday. You see new things every time.
Tete: But it was the first time you saw it in a cinema?
Anna: The second time.
Karsten: You’ve seen it twice in the cinema already? Nerd.
Anna: We had pre-premiere…
Karsten: Nerd.
Anna: Thanks for that.
Karsten: I was wondering, at a premiere party for a horror movie, are there people walking around scaring people? [I have absolutely no idea what he’s saying after that - something about drinks and spaghetti?]
Anna: Tarjei was pretty wild about that yesterday… No.
Adelina: You two know each other from before but it’s the first time we see you two together in a film, is it your first film role, Anna?
Anna: Absolutely.
Tete: Oi, film debut.
Adelina: But you’ve been at, was it Upper Secondary together?
Anna: Yeah.
Adelina: Did you know each other then or just knew of each other?
Tarjei: I made sure to keep a safe distance from Anna but I knew of her. She was the revue star.
All interviewers: Ahhh.
Anna: And Tarjei was the revue boss.
All interviewers: Ooooh, really?
Anna: Tarjei was the revue boss, I was an actor.
Tarjei: I was Anna’s boss and made sure she wasn’t paid. Upper Secondary student, you know.
Anna: But it was good for the soul.
Adelina: What kind of boss is Tarjei, Anna? Don’t be afraid.
Anna: I’m afraid. Nah.
Adelina: Tell us.
Tarjei: The goal as a boss is that people are afraid.
Anna: No, I respected Tarjei a lot, really.
Adelina: Yeah, that’s the correct answer but what’s the real answer?
Karsten: That’s such a politician’s answer.
Anna: Really cool. He was the coolest of them.
All interviewers: Noooo!
Karsten: What was it, was he really caring, like, “You do you, boo”?
Anna: Yes. No, he was really cool at all the assemblies we had.
Adelina: Was it important to you, Tarjei, to appear cool at the assemblies and what tactic did you have for it?
Tarjei: I talked as loud as possible, and was very articulated. So people understood what I said. But it’s important to appear cool when you’re the revue boss. Appear as cool as possible with the least amount of effort.
Karsten: Because cool people always put too much effort into being cool.
Tarjei: Exactly.
Adelina: Karsten knows all about that. But then we can also ask, what kind of student is Anna?
Tarjei: Anna? Very good. Hard working. Very talented.
Adeline: I imagine, Anna, that you’re, like, “ugh, I want a break”, and…
Anna: I take that as a real compliment.
Adeline: A bit like, yeah, yeah, we’ll get to that, just need a bit more fun.
Anna: Yeah, yes. Maybe.
Adeline: But hard working.
Tarjei: Yeah, but really, Anna was a star already when she was in year one in Upper Secondary. You could see it.
Adeline: How could you see it?
Tarjei: She was a damn good actress.
Adeline: Oh my god. You just sit there and get praised.
Tete: I’ll be walking into a trap I often fall into, but I often compare things with football and Anna, you’re kind of the actor version of Haaland.
Adelina: And do you know who you are, Tarjei?
Tete: You’re his father’s homemade lasagna.
Adelina: I was going to brag about knowing the coach's name. It was much funnier than the lasagna dad.
Tete: Oh yeah, sorry. Sorry.
Adelina: You’re the dad. Yeah, that’s what you are. Lasagna dad and Haaland, now together in a film called Forbannelsen. It’s creepy, but remember that in one of the scenes, the whole room is filled with waffle smell.
Anna: Never forget.
Tete: Can we maybe make… We have two actors here, so maybe we can make a creepy sound together?
[make some very creepy sounds…]

Crossover Episode | Andri
Now that Anna had Olaf’s go-ahead for the Great Winter Light-Up idea, the logical next step was to talk to Sindri. She knew that Olaf could probably talk to him too, but she wanted to get her name out there! They would all (hopefully) be working together soon, after all. So she arranged a meeting with the environmental club representative at Hatter’s, notes prepared to brief him on everything she and Olaf had talked about so far.
“Hey Sindri! It’s good to see you again,” Anna said with a smile, sitting down and taking a sip of her pumpkin spice latte. “How was your summer?”

Thálmar Empire - General
The Thálmar Empire is located to the east of the continent, far into the ocean. Its an enourmous archipelago of both natural and man-made islands. The biggest of them all is the capital, Aquamarine*.  However, other 7 main islands function as smaller capitals for their nearby isles:
Apatite of the Shapeshifters
Iolite of the Stormwinds
Lapis Lazuli of the Beasts
Sapphire of the Believers
Turquoise of the Just
Tanzanite of the Faithful
Alexandrite of the Mighty
All these islands are easy to identify, since they each have an enourmous pilar in the center. Maelstroms are abundant around the borders of Thálmar, making the seas around it very difficult to navigate.
Fountains and running water canals cover the cities, both in public and private spaces. Thálmar culture believes all life comes from water, and at the end it should return to it. The dead are sent in small boats to the maelstroms so they can rest at the bottom of the ocean.
Thálmarines are known to raid the coasts of Nimbus, ocassionally pester the Black beaches, but rarely able to defend themselves from the Hjarn (due to the mastery of the Ice Raiders sailing frozen waters).
* All main island names are inspired by seawater-coloured gemstones. Further information will be provided in another post.

longer look - ᚢ
in the runic poems;
old norwegian
úr er af illu jarne; opt løypr ræinn á hjarne.
‘dross comes from bad iron; the reindeer often races over the frozen snow.’
old icelandic
úr er skýja grátr ok skára þverrir ok hirðis hatr.
‘rain is lamentation of the clouds and ruin of the hay-harvest and abomination of the shepherd.’
old english
ur byþ anmod ond oferhyrned, felafrecne deor, feohteþ mid hornum mære morstapa; þæt is modig ƿuht.
‘the aurochs is proud and has great horns; it is a very savage beast and fights with its horns; a great ranger of the moors, it is a creature of mettle.’
in divinatory practice;
uruz is the second letter in the elder futhark alphabet. it falls in the first aett, ruled by freyr and freyja and concerning things in the mortal realm. there is some debate as to whether its proto-germanic origin of its root ur was in the word uruz, meaning aurochs, or in urą, meaning water. while the first interpretation is favored by the majority of diviners, the second appears in both scandinavian rune poems, while the first only appears in the anglo-saxon. that being said, the anglo-saxon poem is generally agreed to be older than the other two, not to mention that the ‘aurochs’ translation is supported by the derivative gothic alphabet. therefore, the focus of this overview will be on uruz, translated as ‘aurochs.’
the aurochs, extinct ancestor of modern wild and domestic cattle, was one of the pleistocene megafauna; due to its impressive size and strength, it was often displayed as a hunting trophy and is hypothesized to have been honored by various ancient religions as a sacred bull. thus, the rune uruz usually connotes strength, stamina, and instinct, as well as primal wildness and ferocity. depending on intent and context, drawing an upright uruz may signify a need for tenacity or trust of basic impulses in order to achieve hard-won victory.
drawn in reverse, uruz cautions the diviner against allowing their instincts to get the better of their logic through overconfidence or obstinacy. it encourages them to analyze their situation and reevaluate their approach to solving it rather than simply redoubling their efforts. it may also serve as a reminder to let a lost cause go; the diviner must accept that even the strength of an aurochs will not carry them through every trial they may face in life.

Hebeny
Fyerynn’s spouse was of unimaginable beauty.
Tumblr media
Her light movements, her silky fur, glistening like ebony in the sun, but most pretty of all, her lavender eyes. Her looks were stunning, but it could never be compared with the beauty of her spirit.
Hebeny was as wise as the Stars themselves, as kind as a gentle breeze in hot weather, and as beautiful as obsidian.
And her house welcomed her guests with the aroma of blueberry pie and the warmth that embraces your heart. Hebeny knew how to comfort everyone, that's why the animals came to her for chattings and tea parties.
Hebeny was very fond of coffee with different flavors, and she had a personal jar with beans, which was strictly forbidden to be touched for any other member of the family. Coffee on Sko-Hjarn is a rare and expensive beverage, it is brought by traders from coastal countries, and in the time of Great Biting coffee became scarce. It was used only on holidays or special occasions, but Hebeny was lucky enough to have a large supply, a collection of sorts, which she sometimes shared with friends.
Hebeny also loved gourmet foods. She loved to cook and taste them, and the main criteria that interested her was the beauty of the dish. This she-dog always surrounded herself with beautiful things, beautiful songs, beautiful food, beautiful thoughts, and, without realizing it, filled the house she lived in, the forest in which the house stood, the land on which the forest grew... with beauty.
The happy couple had a whole horde of puppies, and they diligently nurtured their offspring to grow into the kind and noble dogs that collared sheepdogs (the Mirolapian name for collies) should be. Fourteen puppies were given life by Hebeny and Fyerynn.
The canine family lived in Trihouse, a large wooden cottage built according to Fyerynn’s plan, and this house easily accommodated all of its inhabitants. It stands there to this day, and now, nine centuries later, it is home to the horses Brunnie, Yvgo, and their daughter Leafy..
Hebeny died at the age of 156, having outlived her husband by several years.
