this is your reminder that 99.9% of employers care more about money than you and even if they are kind and fair now they WILL at the end of the day put profits over your well being so absolutely do not sacrifice your life for them.

#and by life i mean time really #do your job to its exact description #do not make things too difficult for your fellow workers #you can even work hard if you want to #but do not undervalue your time or your mental and physical well being #this is a mistake i made in my first job #the stress of that job triggered my (undiagnosed) crohns so bad i was hospitalized twice #and my boss asked me to work from my hospital bed #while also not giving me sick time and not paying me well #in my previous post that coworker has been working there at least 15 years #never caused any problems went above and beyond #was a fucking backbone of the company #and is getting tossed out bc management is fucking moronic #they’ll be fine they’re so great they’ll get a much better job i’m certain #and previous management loved them SO much and did try to take really good care of them to keep them from leaving #but in the end stupid financial decisions will always come before employee we’ll begin #being #so never give too much of yourself to a job and always keep your resume updates #also don’t be afraid to leave nasty reviews on yelp or glassdoor and also maybe key your boss’ car

need to dust + declutter my room in a major way but have not been able to come up with even a crumb of motivation to do little else but bed rot :(

#outside of visiting mum in hospital have just been. in bed #and it has bit me in the proverbial big time #got my centrelink payment cancelled because i couldnt face my appointment + then just let it slide #had an appointment scheduled for tomorrow that i was going to force myself to attend only to find out they pushed the cancel button today #it’s my own fault so can’t complain and am mostly just upset at myself for letting my mental health get on top of me to this point #esp when my service provider was so chill one lousy call and it would have been fine #anyways. here’s hoping the new claim won’t take the whole projected four weeks #that or that my ed kicks rocks and i manage to be a functioning member of society who can work a job #everything is just feeling very overwhelming :(#personal

i'm just so goddamn tired of crisis mode

#my dad was in the hospital overnight #my mom just had minor heart surgery #and i'm on the wrong continent #and their health problems are because i'm not managing their lives anymore #and like #i could be in crisis mode and deal with it #but i can't #it's so hard to communicate with them at the moment due to technical issues #that i feel guilty that their health is slipping bc i can't bully them into better behavior #but also it shouldn't be my job #and now bc i can't do anything crisis mode is useless #and i don't want to be numb #so instead i have to be scared and afraid for my parents' health #instead of frustrated and annoyed that they're not listening to me

Phone showed me a random photo from my old job. I was never the type to snitch, felt pointless to have any faith in management anyways, so I would just take photos of stuff that pissed me off so I could seethe about it later. Leaving knives around was definitely a big one here lol. They also didn't have a knife block or magnet strip here, the knives were always just shoved in a bin.

Anyway I hate how insane I am and I hate that there's always these kitchen safety rules that live in my brain like a doctrine from god yet no one in reality seems to care about them and it makes me bitter and jaded and not want to come to work. And this happens at every single one of my jobs and all I do is seethe and seethe and seethe about it until all my relationships breakdown because I am just angry about working, that becomes my only personality trait.

#And then I eventually have some sort of a meltdown and end up in the hospital or simply unemployed after screaming at my boss/manager #Hence the 7 jobs in 5 years situation

my shift was supposed to end at 10pm but i didn’t get off until 12am . i literally arrived home half an hour ago . ITS 1:30 .

#another day of hating hospitality jobs #but i need the money etc #and we got free drinks after we were done + i bonded with one of my managers #she added the extra hours and the break i didn’t take on my shift to make sure i’ll get pay for it <3 #anyways im gonna take a painkiller bc i can barely feel my legs and go to sleep #i have a couple of free days so im gonna catch up on fics and reply to comments and write #(i’ll probably end up doing only half of that but it’s the thought that counts)

#great news! got a new job #bad news! have to quit the old one #so much anxiety #first i have to figure out who i'm even supposed to talk to #and then i have to tell them i'm quitting?#horrendous #when i left the animal hospital it was mutually understood for so long that all i really had to do was say 'yeah it's happening now'#but that's not true this time #and this company is just so huge and because i'm remote i don't really have a solid relationship with any management #the one manager i've worked with the most is also quitting ... her last day is tomorrow #so anyway #wish me luck i guess #wish i could just ghost but i have to return their laptop to them somehow #also i am a functioning adult I GUESS!!

#OH BOY #so i finally called grandma and told her i lost my job #i have been putting this off bc of the shame and once you tell one member of my italian side the entIRE FAMILY knows #But she managed to hit me back with even worse news #A family member has bone cancer and it sounds bad #Like my grandma callyerdogs off started refusing food at the very end of the cancer #And it sounds like he's starting to do that #Everybody is spending entire days in the hospital it sounds very much like with what was happening with grandpa #i dont want to go into details #Anyway on top of this my childhood bff is getting married in atlanta at the end of august #So i was going to visit grandma at the same time #And now she's being like no no no theres no need to come and im like GRANDMA PLEASE lol ;_;#And by lol i mean just for once could my family not be so fucking stubbornly self reliant im crying and begging over here #The tentative plan is to fly to pittsburgh after atlanta instead and stay with my dance buddy #and then i can be like look grandma im already here its a four hour drive i will see you in four hours #and stay for as long as they let me and then fly back from the burgh #But needless to say this is all a mess and i need to make actual plans SOON #:(#Im looking up flights the cheapest way would be to book a round trip ticket LA to atlanta and then a round trip atlanta to the burgh #Is this a bad idea? Does anyone else have experience doing this? Like for an extra 500$ i could do a three city ticket but that seems silly #I guess the problem would be if a flight got canceled or delayed but if i get travelers insurance for the flights #thats probably still less than the 500+ extra it would cost to do a three city trip #The other option is driving from georgia to the burgh which ive done once when going to florida with chezzy and family #So i know its a 13ish? Hour drive but i also know i can do it lol #I think the gas + car rental would cost more than the flight tbh #But i also love road trips

Management keeps wondering why the retention rate is less than a year on average.

any time I get vaguely overwhelmed at work I have to remind myself at least I’m not working at st*rb*cks anymore and feel fine again

#it *is* a bit overwhelming to have a lot to do and then get notifications from 3 different platforms #knowing you have like 4 meetings that day and won’t have much to show for the day #but also I feel less pressure here than I did working as a barista #hospitality jobs w your manager breathing down your neck and customers yelling at you and knowing how replaceable you are…#I have huge respect for people who do that long term (especially with a shitty manager)

I've been working since I was 16 and had a run of bad luck, fucking what of it? I'm employed again with a company I was at for a year and a half and my higher up not only remembered me for my good work (employee of the month twice in a year ✌️) and I was told in my interview it was just formality, that the job was mine and they were ecstatic to have me back.

Cope and seethe.

Bad luck is bad luck, you roll with the punches and move on. I'm in a great place. Employed, my car almost paid off, and on the wait list for an apartment with my best friend and mentor.

But you keep being bitter <3 get fucked, stay fucked
