Buckeye is a bit of a plant snob, I think. It makes sense in a way because she seems to be part plant, but the biliog are designed to grow psychite and have improved plant skill in their genetics, so... Maybe Buckeye just thinks Blackdragon's not pretty enough to work in her garden.

Our new Hussar colonist Curly only likes one of the cult members, but Socks considers him a rival.
Nineteen-year-old Curly is also, somehow, twenty-nine-year-old Vasso's granduncle.
And finally, it's time for the final colony tour of Loyalty's Meander before we set off to hopefully cover the last leg of the journey to the crashed ship!

It's a quaint little settlement with not too much going on—aside from the giant murder church. I'm sure nearby settlements consider that more of a tourist attraction than a threat, though, right? Right?

The central hub of the colony is the kitchen/dining space, with room for prisoners/spare food off towards the south.

There are some very productive fields and a stonecutting station set up in the centre of the colony.

To the left is the saplingchild pen that recently saw the births of Magic Man and Buckeye's daughters, Blackthorn and Bluegum. We also have a tailorshop/art studio, and a guest bedroom.

Vance's room comes next. It was hastily constructed off to the side because he joined us later. Of course, we also have a dinosaur museum. I love dinosaur museums.

The main bedrooms are built in a sort of apartment-style structure, with a hospital and a bathroom at one end.

The laboratory is tacked on to the end of the apartment block, and it doubles as a classroom for the many children around the colony, though only Dire Wolf and Night Stalker ever used it because the others are still babies or toddlers, and Bella and Pro are adults now.

They also sold us a prefab for a "Viking Village," which we turned into a guest motel and Curly's bedroom, where he could do grumpy nonbeliever Hussar things away from the rest of the gang.

Last but not least are our animal pens and the barn. The boomalopes have a separate pen because they tend to explode when things don't go their way, and we can't risk losing Shamrock, the lucky donkey.

Western Lonen base tour (modded)
I've been playing one colony for about 5ish in-game years and I wanted to show the world Tumblr my chaotic base.
It's very much still a work in progress and not very well organized. But oh well.

Western Lonen (don't ask me, it was randomly generated) started with three pawns in a crappy cave.
Raiders came, raiders got downed and recruited and slowly but surely the colony grow to the size it is today.

I normally play without electricity (Medieval Overhaul my beloved) but we needed it for research. So yeah, here's our wind turbine and a little part of our main entry.

Here you can see our fabulous entry and the northern part of Western lonen, consisting of a tample (buried are: Archuk, who died in battle with a stegosaurus. He was a great teacher and nanny. And Mako, who died as a stillborn after I accidently send her mother to fight a raid before she went into labor in the midst of battle....)

The dining / living room is the main hub of the colony. This was the cave where we started in so it deserved the be the biggest and best decorated room. On the right you can see the hospital, bedrooms of the first three colonists ( two married eachother) a 'barn' for our animals and a nursery at the bottom right. On the left we have the classroom and some bedrooms.

Here we make and store our shit + an extra kitchen surrounded by bedrooms and diningrooms. I am always afraid to run out of clothes despite having almost 50 of all... It is a mess. Moving on!

At the end of the time of Valley Station, I wanted an entirely new spin on the last colony I was about to build in my pursuit of the Archonexus. I would call this one Artifact Plains. Set on a cold, flat grassland biome up near the North Pole of this planet.

With scarce building materials, I set myself up in the ancient danger as a temporary camp, looting the surrounding ruins for supplies and buildings like the heater. The bugs inside were swiftly dealt with, dying to Volz's charge sniper rifle and Mei's monosword. In the fighting, the cryptosleep tombs were damaged and automatically opened. I do not plan on keeping any of the wayward souls that emerged.

Inside the hermetic crate was a persona eltex lance called Naga, I gave her to Fuller.

The ancient danger quickly grew into more than just a temporary camp, but it was still quite shabby as a barracks, a workshop, a warehouse, a rec room, and a laboratory all in one. (I got all the Archotech eyes and synthetic hearts when Mei killed a bunch of bionic thrumbos and we butchered them)

Such compactness was necessary as I began work on what would be the final grand temple to the Archonexus. It's so hard creating circles in RimWorld without mods, this is actually an oval. It's slightly stretched upwards.

As the Long Winter set in, I began to expand on the temple structure even more. I planned that this would be a very communal type of colony. With huge rooms serving multiple purposes in loosely-divided areas. Geothermal power plants would provide heat and power on every corner, and the "inner sanctum" of the structure would hold smaller structures. Like a Mechanitor laboratory, shrine, hospital, travel hub, and courtyard.

Such plans were quickly dashed as I checked the quest tab and realized I already had the wealth to pursue the Archonexus. Hm...

It's a bit demoralizing. This is my holy mission, so I can't just ignore it. But it's just demoralizing how all of my colonies get smaller and less grand than the one before it. All my pawns are so good and so augmented that they are worth forty times the price of an un-augmented pawn, and they work at four times the speed while needing half of the sleep, food, and recreation.
At the same time, though, I was getting a bit bored, and was ready to wash my hands of this playthrough. So, for old time's sake. Here's First Factory, Valley Station, and Artifact Plains compared to one another.

Rose Garden Cafe These are the four locations of the Rose Garden Cafe, a small chain of cafes that Rosy founded so that she could share good food and hospitality to people across the galaxy. Each location is on a different planet. One on Earth, one on Everdawn, one on Illum, and one on Capitol.  
Earth: This location is in the outskirts of San Francisco with a small farm and house nearby that was the home of Rosy’s adopted father, Farmer John, for the remainder of his life.  
Everdawn: This is Rosy’s home as well as the largest of her cafes. It is located on the homeworld of her people, the Mothkin. Everdawn is a beautiful, warm, tidally-locked planet with most of its habitable land locked in a perpetual twilight.
Illum: This location has been built on the Mantid homeworld because it is where Rosy’s closest friend and chosen sister, Regina, has chosen to make her new home. It has an astonishing cliffside view of Chie’s crystal palace, and is the most remote of Rosy’s cafes, being in an entirely different galaxy. It is accessible only through portals built by the Mantids which are kept hidden from all but a select few individuals that they trust.  
Capitol: This location is the most recent one and has been built on the megastructure which serves as the mobile capital of the Galactic Alliance. It was built here because it is one of the most cosmopolitan places in the entire Nozari Galaxy, given that it is able to create a wormhole allowing it to warp to any system in said galaxy. Additionally, given that Capitol is an artificial world, Rosy had a lot of freedom to mold the geography of the surrounding area. With this ability, she decided to make a recreation of her very first cafe in Windsworth, which sadly was never able to open. 
The surrounding area is also modelled after the geography of Windsworth, with the transit hub being built on the spot where the neighboring town of Smolderon would have been.  
None of the buildings other than the cafe itself and the two central trees of the town plaza and outlook were recreated, but on the spot where Farmer John’s old house would have been, there is instead a memorial dedicated to all of the people who Rosy knew from the world that has since been destroyed by The Withering. The memorial is surrounded by rose bushes, and is built in the shape of the emblem of The Swarm, with its spikes being made from amethyst, the favorite crystal of Queen Parizz Ite. 
The memorial has a display screen mounted on it which displays the emblem of the Silver Lotus as well as an extensive list of the names of each individual that Rosy knew. If a name is selected with the touch screen, a portrait of the person is displayed along with a brief description of them.
There is also a plea for anyone who comes across the memorial to provide any information they have on any of the people on the list:   
“Every name you see on this list is a person that I knew and cared about on a strange world that has since been destroyed by a horrible catastrophe. 
Each of them helped in some way to shape me into the person I am today, and showed me kindness and friendship during a time in my life when I had only begun to understand that such things were possible. 
They showed me that there was more to life than simply trying to avoid death. They showed me that I could actually enjoy my life, that I could live every day looking forward to tomorrow. I cherish every last one of them deeply, and hold their memory close to my heart. 
This cafe is a faithful recreation of the very first Rose Garden Cafe. It was something that I was very proud of, and I had hoped to open it with a big celebration where I’d invite everyone I knew. Sadly though, I was never able to do this. I had to leave, and by the time I returned, everything was gone... 
To anyone who sees this, I beg of you, please read every name you see, and tell me if you know anything at all about any of them, no matter what that may be. I still hold out hope that someday I’ll be able to hold that big celebration that we never had.”
