is it just me or is this kinda not a good idea?
I think it's a gamble. And like anyone who cares about something deeply, watching it take a high-stakes gamble can be terrifying.
What I think people don't take into consideration is just how flooded their recent youtube videos have been with scammy sponsors and cheap fast-product get-rich-quick scheming vendors. Sure, their writers and producers made it fun by adding some really excellent characters to the mix, but I wouldn't touch a thing like Mistplay if you paid me as much as they paid Watcher for their video. However, the thing is, look around at all the youtubers you know who are up and coming. You can't make it on that platform without advertising trash to your audience.
With the vimeo OTT program, i believe there is a shared revenue and more incentive to promote more simple dedicated engagement; it's not ad sense clicks; it's just clicks. It's a soft start and there are going to be some kinks to work out but if they get to control their brand more and decide what gets made without needing some nu-venture, cash hungry sponsor to look at it, then I think they could change media online for the better.
Having said all that, the execution? Not their best. Watcher--listen, I love them so much--has had a consistent and terminal administrative problem and that means stuff falls through the cracks. From a communicative standpoint, when you're about to take your company in a controversial direction, you should know two things.
The backlash! You gotta get ahead of it. You need your PR team on the go a MONTH before launch
Always soft launch a big move. Get your feelers out for how people react especially if you don't have the kind of shark PR person who would know already that people don't respond well to paying for something they didn't used to pay for.
Watcher is still a baby company in so many forms and I will wholeheartedly support their move to do what they can to keep control of their creative content today and in the future. I'm not in their offices so I can't make as prescriptive a judgement as Twitter feels emboldened to about capitalism and greed or whoever they think their audience is however I can and will say that with any form of growth, the growing pains are going to show. i'll give them grace as they pivot and figure out how best to move forward especially with the volume of vitriol the internet loves to spew when they feel entitled to art forms that used to be free.
I'll say it again. At least we're no longer having garbage peddled at us regardless how much I crave Fabian Sax biblically.

Hi there, lovely artist! Do you watch the oshi no ko anime? I ask because I wondered if you are excited to see their depiction of Hikaru, because you make such lovely art of him (it's a depiction I quite like :)). It made me wonder if you have some kind of expectations for the anime.
I'm personally very excited to see Hikaru animated and voice acted :D
Hello anon~ thanks for calling me lovely!♥ I love getting complimented!
Oh! I watched the first 2 eps of the second season, then I decided to put off watching it for a while (I can always buy it in our local OTT platform, they have it there!) because the manga... ;v; is already making my head spin so much already. I can only focus on one thing at a time... It was SO good though!!// I remember how the first episode started with stage-play, which was very impressive. The opening animation sequence is amazing too! I'd like to binge it all at once later.
Hmm...about expectations, I personally consider the current arc to be great in terms of depicting Aqua's psychology. It was peak in terms of helping us understand his character, so I appreciate that a lot. We get to see all his pains and trauma and the struggles he had, and it was so powerful. I'm sure the anime would be touching on those currently, if they do a great job with that (along with Akane's rivalry with Kana and how they shine on stage in different ways) I feel I'd be happy with it! Also that scene with Melt. I'm sure that one's been animated because I saw a thumbnail of it on youtube. I'm also looking forward to the aqukana date. That's one of the few peaceful, cute moments we have. I'm sure I'd watch that part the moment it comes out because I'm curious how that's going to be acted out.. and I need to see some happy moments in onk for once. Stuff's been depressing in the manga lately and I feel sorry for a lot of characters;;
OH... thank you!// I'm so happy to hear you like my depiction of him!!/// That gives me strength. Yeah, I'm excited too, because we never saw his color palettes yet, haven't we!! It's going to be all over the internet once it's out, won't it...I'm a little worried if I got it way off.. but I'm prepared to take what they give us! The anime team does the series justice. I trust they will come up with something good. I just mentioned I'd watch the aqukana dating scene as it comes out.. well, that scene with hikaru's also a scene I want to watch (and I NEED to in order to get his color schemes right in the future 'cause I draw! o<-<)
I really want him to get a bright color palette, because his name has to do with both "god" and "light"... or the god of light if combined.. I SERIOUSLY believe he HAS to do with amenouzume, the entertainment god's husband!! That god conveniently is said to have a "shining body" and is called the god of the bright lights!!!! There is no way that has nothing do do with him!! I don't really picture him with dark eyes, I feel golden eyes would really suit him because that gives off the "light" imagery and it'd make sense. It'd also be able to make his black star eyes really stand out as he has them.. and I feel he'd make a good contrast with Ai if he's colored a bit brighter than Aqua or Ruby. purple and yellow contrast each other very well! So I'm crossing my fingers for that to happen. Same here, I'm really curious how he'd sound like, and I'm happily awaiting to see his depiction in the anime. Since I drew a lot of things about him already, I'd be a bit embarrassed if happened to get his colors off... but?? It's the colors I really want. So I won't regret having colored him that way. We can all dream, right!

I drew them upon having received your ask!
it'd be really nice if he has these bright colors that contrasts Ai's dark purple. Saying this again because I really want that to happen ;v;)9999
I get chatty, I hope you can feel my excitement! :) This series makes me both so nervous and excited... I guess it will be like that for awhile.
Let's keep having fun together! I appreciate your ask and I hope you have a fun weekend!

i lied! i did big fibs, i have more to say about the watcher situation after all. some assorted thoughts:
1. i'm a little surprised at just how big the rift is in the fandom post-apology. if i go into the tag, it literally alternates between "you guys are twisted sickos for bullying them into walking back the new platform" and "you guys are major chumps for accepting the apology and my trust is permanently damaged." this is a fandom that previously seemed pretty monolithic to me as an outsider, so i wonder if this will have long term implications for the sustainability of their fandom.
2. they said there'd be a "free subscription" to the platform for patreon supporters. makes sense, since their patreon tiers are mostly more expensive than the watchertv sub. this was presented as an indefinite sub dependent on continuing to pay their patreon, but patrons are receiving emails saying the sub is actually only for 3 free months. i'm like 90% sure this is the same kind of situation where they encouraged password sharing even though the platform doesn't enable it. they once again just seem to not fucking know what the vimeo ott platform they're using is capable of doing. they have to stop making statements like this until they get a better understanding of it because it's continuing to make them look bad.
3. there are multiple reports on reddit that at least ryan and sara (shane's spouse) are deleting comments on their instagram. look, i get it, some of the things people are saying are downright vile. the pointed targeting of steven and the borderline fanfic-writing quality of some of the theories about what went down interpersonally on the team during this decision is fucking weird at best and racist/invasive at worst. furthermore, i dont think making comments on personal instagrams is a good way to be heard. but on the other hand, controlling what people say on your platform right after you made a "we hear you" statement is really bad optics. obviously i think they have a right to delete anything that's outright bigoted, but it seems like they're deleting anything decidedly negative.
4. some of the comments getting deleted are about potential "fake" or "plant" patrons trying to skew the narrative positively on the watcher patreon. i frankly think this is unfounded conspiracy shit until i see substantial proof, but deleting these comments in particular without responding can cause some straight up streisand effect. this can really quickly start snowballing if they make it look like they don't want anyone talking about it. overall i just don't know if they understand just how much they're under the microscope right now. i didn't have to search very much to dig this stuff up - people are watching and documenting them. i think the variety article revealing they did initially intend to remove their backlog and them trying to pretend they didn't walk that back has caused a lot of people to hyper-inspect their every move. they're already in the youtube drama content cycle, and they risk someone making a blowout exposé if they aren't careful.

briar in frills rambles…! ୨ৎ
˚˖𓍢🏰✧˚. ⚜️⋆
rebuilding my wardrobe: part one ദ്ദി(。•̀ ,<)~✩‧₊
welcome, cuties~! it's so wonderful to be writing about this particular subject as i'm fresh from a ton of research..! some new readers may not know much about my personal journey as a lolita so i'll give a brief run down before we start with the topic of today's post. (˶ˆᗜˆ˵) i started buying lolita fashion a year, going on two now, so i'm still quite new building my wardrobe up.. this also coupled with the fact i was gothic lolita turned sweet in the middle of last year.. (ᵕ—ᴗ—) while i have some semblance of a sweet wardrobe from my change, it is not in line with the specific color scheme i'm dreaming towards. obviously my blog as of late has been all about setting goals, revisiting coordinates of my new style to see the improvements, and discussing the future of my newfound style. but making plans to plan around my signature style hasn't quite yet occurred to me.. (∩˃o˂∩)♡
while i've stated the kind of style i aim for (2000s - early 2010s sweet) as well as the color schemes i have planned, i realize i need to choose pieces to get my wardrobe started and work with what i have. i haven't seriously dissected my wardrobe to see what ACTUALLY fits where i'm wanting to go with my whole pink x black / black x pink wardrobe. the concept isn't hard to grasp, neither the chosen years for my looks, but i have been looking too forward into in general versus actually making moves to plan my wardrobe further presently, and invest in pieces that i could use everyday as a lifestyler while hoping to get my hands on my dream items..! so today starts the day i map out coordinates and exactly what things i need to get a capsule wardrobe started that will eventually turn into a more fleshed wardrobe in the future! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و
i think planning a capsule wardrobe currently is the best decision for me at the moment as my wardrobe isn't as cohesive as i want it to be, and it definitely gives me wiggle room when it comes to budgeting for personal spending on lolita. thinking smaller rather than the bigger picture is definitely grounding and a great place to start..! a capsule wardrobe also allows for me to have versatile coordinates from casual to ott if i wanted!◝(ᵔᵕᵔ)◜ i researched capsule wardrobes today via youtube and other lolita's blogs - all of which i'll leave at the end of this post! serious shoutout to them for being lifesavers.
⊹₊ ˚‧︵‿₊୨୧₊‿︵‧ ˚ ₊⊹
starting point: what do we have?
the most logical starting point for me is asking, "what do we have?". asking this is a great way to get a good look into making sure i'm not investing in something already similar, and even help me free up some space if it's something i can sell to make room for an item more suitable to my wardrobe. the colors for this capsule wardrobe is black with pink accents or vice versa, so we can base pieces around this while trying to keep the looks inspired by my favorite years of lolita! (๑´>᎑<)~* things i have current in my wardrobe that are suitable for my capsule wardrobe plans (below):

(not pictured: a white lolita blouse, black platform shoes with heart buckles)
so, obviously it isn't much, but it's a definite start! let's move onto the next phase of action..! (,,>﹏<,,)
next: what do we need?
the begrudged question.. what do we need? judging by the starting point.. a lot, but that's alright! that's the joy of lolita is that planning really does make it perfect. from the videos i watched to the blog series i read there were some similar takes on how many main pieces and non-main pieces a capsule wardrobe could start off with / consist of. main pieces things being - 1 op, 2 or more jsks, 1 or 2 bottoms of choice (in my case skirts), 2 or more blouses, 1 or more outer garments (anything from a bolero, vest, or cardigan), 1 or more pairs of shoes (different colors obviously, but for me pink and black), and finally at least 3 different types of head pieces to get that variety into your capsule wardrobe! those headpieces can be (for sweet lolita anyway) headbow, beret, or smaller bows. non-main pieces are petticoat / hoopskirt, bloomers, otks, ankle socks, or tights, as well as one or more purse. a bonnet is also a choice for more ott sweet looks! i made a note of this as i would like to have an ott sweet look if i ever was able to get involved in community lolita activities..! (♡ˊ͈ ꒳ ˋ͈) now that it's noted we can plan accordingly and layout a visual of what we need to pair with what we already have and build upon.
i'll keep this as a mini-series of building my capsule wardrobe with me, but it'll be fun! in the meantime i'll work on a visual for next week that will display the "vibe" i'm going for while not necessarily showing the pieces i own or will own. i really can't wait to see where it goes, and to see my wardrobe grow from a small one in the future to a bigger one.
material for research: how to build a sweet lolita capsule wardrobe
how to build a lolita capsule wardrobe: step by step
building a lolita capsule wardrobe: what is a capsule wardrobe?
⊹₊ ˚‧︵‿₊୨୧₊‿︵‧ ˚ ₊⊹
afterword: obviously i am no fashion genius when it comes to lolita, so i hope me documenting my journey doesn't come off as such. i really want to use my blog to show growth, share tips i've come across, and research lolita history as it's a huge fixation for me -`♡´-
anyways, hope to see ya soon!

So when i look on viewership numbers on Greek series especially from afternoon till late night i see the majority of them being roughly 16-19%
That means 1,6 million out of 10 million Greeks watch series in that time.
But Para Pente when the last episode aired it had an estimated 66% which translates to 6,6 million! Greeks saw it! That's an astonishing number that comes once in a blue moon.
My main issue is that greek productions don't let good quality tv being aired to the point people stick to see foreign countries instead which is a shame
I think it has to do with the 20 years gap too though. Para Pente aired in 2005, a time were the international OTT platforms weren't a thing and even internationally popular shows had not yet become huge productions like proper movies (basically Game of Thrones started this in 2011), so there was nothing else to compete with domestic TV for in-home entertainment. Nowadays, no matter how incredible Para Pente was, it would never be able to pull off the same numbers, because people have gotten used to premium ott and on demand services. It certainly does not help that after the lack of good content during the crisis, people are now too hesitant with Greek TV, especially young people. It is definitely partly influenced by the internalised anti-Greekness post-crisis. Hope this is over soon because Greek TV is really trying to make a comeback and we should help it. For one, I watched 10 freaking Greek shows last year which is an all-time record for me and I enjoyed most of them and this year I am watching the four which have new seasons (Η Μάγισσα: Φλεγόμενη Καρδιά, ο Γιατρός, Έρημη Χώρα and Maestro) and I am loving it so far.

Norway has produced a multitude of good horror movies, but it all started in 1958 with Lake of the Dead (De dødes tjern). Voted fourth best Norwegian film of all time by 101 critics in 1998, Lake of the Dead is a mystery that is part ghost story, part insane killer, and sports its own psychiatrist as a cast member; just for the insane part, you see.
Based on a 1942 novel of the same title, the film also includes an actor playing the writer of that novel and the actual writer of the novel playing another character. Clear? And then there’s the scene called one of the most memorable scenes in Norwegian film history. Gregory Crosby joins the Grue Crew, and they have plenty to talk about.
At the time of this writing, Lake of the Dead (1958) is available to stream from Shudder, AMC+, and Tubi. It’s also available on physical media as one of 20 films in All The Haunts Be Ours: A Compendium Of Folk Horror |Blu-ray + CD| from Severin.
Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror: The Classic Era records a new episode every two weeks. Next in their very flexible schedule – this one chosen by Chad – is The Werewolf (1956)! Director Fred F. Sears (The Giant Claw, Earth vs. the Flying Saucers) gives us a different take on the werewolf trope, though the werewolf makeup might look a little familiar. The Grue Crew can’t wait!
Please let them know how they’re doing! They want to hear from you – the coolest, grooviest fans: leave them a message or leave a comment on the Gruesome Magazine YouTube channel, the site, or email the Decades of Horror: The Classic Era podcast hosts at [email protected]
To each of you from each of them, “Thank you so much for watching and listening!”

Tamil Film Industry to Pause Productions and Implement New Regulations from November
In a recent high-stakes meeting among key players in Tamil cinema, significant changes are on the horizon. The Tamil Film Producers Association (TFPC), in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association, Tamil Nadu Multiplex Owners Association, and Tamil Nadu Film Distributors, has laid out a series of resolutions aimed at addressing the pressing issues within the industry.
Key Decisions from the Meeting:
OTT Release Window: Films starring major stars will now have an eight-week window between their theatrical release and their debut on OTT platforms. This new regulation aims to maximize the revenue potential from theatrical runs before films become available for streaming.
Actor and Technician Dues: A major concern is the practice of actors and technicians accepting advance payments from multiple production companies while failing to complete existing commitments. To mitigate financial losses for producers, actors and technicians are now required to finish ongoing projects before taking on new ones. Notably, producers are advised to consult the TFPC before beginning new projects involving actor Dhanush, who has been involved in such disputes.
Ceiling on Salaries and Production Costs: The industry has seen a surge in salaries and production costs, impacting overall budgets. The TFPC is working on new regulations to cap these expenses and bring more structure to film financing.
Temporary Suspension of New Shoots: To ensure a smooth transition to these new regulations, a temporary halt on the start of new films has been mandated from August 16, 2024. Current projects must be completed by October 30, 2024, with no new shoots commencing until the new rules are fully implemented.
Communication and Compliance: Producers are required to formally report ongoing film projects to the TFPC. This measure is intended to keep track of productions and enforce the new regulations effectively
Formation of Joint Action Committee: A new committee comprising producers, distributors, and theatre owners will oversee the implementation of these resolutions and address future industry issues.
These sweeping changes come in response to ongoing challenges in Tamil cinema, including financial mismanagement and escalating production costs. The industry has faced similar shutdowns in the past, such as the 2018 strike over revenue sharing issues. This time, however, the focus is on regulating actor and technician conduct, and the industry awaits the reactions from those directly affected by these new rules.
As the TFPC gears up for these significant shifts, it will be crucial to see how these regulations impact the Tamil film industry and whether they effectively address the concerns that have prompted this decisive action.

Presented here are the bios from their website (as of the end of June 2023). I am going to flag what I want you to look for... who here has the technical background to run a multimedia platform. Or are they a marketing person who might have worked in media. I'm going to emphasis these are direct quotes. I'm changing nothing.
I also want to point out that Fox's "early career includes Summer Olympic TV broadcast coverage" is that she was a group VP for Time Warner Cable in the early 2000s. And "start up launches for pro-cycling and senior tennis" still doesn't name what these enterprises are, we've been unable to identify what they might be among non-defunct entities.

Build an App Like Netflix: Your Guide to Launching a Custom OTT Platform
In today’s fast-paced digital world, streaming content has become a part of daily life. Platforms like Netflix have redefined how we consume entertainment — and they've also inspired a new wave of entrepreneurs. If you’ve ever thought, "I want to build an app like Netflix", you’re not alone.
The good news? Building an app isn’t reserved for large tech companies anymore. With the right tools and strategies, even a small team can develop a feature-rich OTT (Over-the-Top) streaming platform that competes in the content game.

Why Build an App Like Netflix?
When people search for "build an app", they’re often looking for a blueprint to replicate success — and Netflix is a top-tier example. Its global popularity comes from a mix of smart technology, personalized content, and smooth user experience.
Replicating this model gives you a powerful head start:
On-demand video playback
User profiles and watch history
Subscriptions and monetization
Smart recommendations and search filters
But the true advantage lies in creating a custom experience for a specific niche — whether that’s fitness, education, regional films, or kids’ entertainment.
Key Features to Include When You Build an App
If you’re developing a streaming platform inspired by Netflix, focus on these core features:
Responsive Design for mobile, desktop, and smart TVs
Content Management System (CMS) to upload and organize videos
Secure Payment Integration for subscriptions or pay-per-view
User Profiles and Playlists for personalization
AI-Powered Recommendations to boost engagement
Analytics Dashboard for viewer behavior and performance insights
These features ensure users enjoy a seamless viewing experience while giving you control over content and growth.
Tools and Frameworks to Consider
You don’t have to start from zero. There are development frameworks and pre-built Netflix clone scripts that provide a solid foundation. These scripts come with front-end and back-end architecture, admin panels, database connections, and scalability built in.
Using a ready-made solution lets you focus on branding, content curation, and user engagement — not infrastructure.
Who Can Benefit from Building a Streaming App?
You might think streaming is only for big players, but it’s increasingly becoming a playground for:
Indie filmmakers and studios creating niche content
Educators and coaches offering online courses
Local media houses going digital
Fitness trainers providing subscription-based workout videos
Event organizers sharing replays and live sessions
No matter your industry, building an app gives you a platform to reach users directly — without relying on third-party streaming sites.
Cost and Timeframe: What to Expect
Developing a Netflix-style app from scratch can take months or even years. But using a pre-built clone script or customizable template can cut development time significantly — sometimes down to just a few weeks.
Cost depends on your feature set, customizations, and whether you build in-house or outsource development. Hosting, content storage, app store publishing, and licensing are other factors to budget for.
Final Thoughts
If you're planning to build an app in 2025, launching your own OTT streaming service could be a smart and timely move. Whether you’re passionate about storytelling, education, or live events, the demand for high-quality streaming platforms isn’t going away anytime soon.
The key is to focus on delivering value to your audience — with intuitive design, relevant content, and seamless playback. Starting with a Netflix clone framework helps bring that vision to life faster.

Crafting a Winning Business Plan for Your Netflix-Like OTT App
Are you ready to create your own app like Netflix? This detailed guide lays out a clear roadmap to help you build a powerful and scalable OTT platform from the ground up. Whether you’re an ambitious entrepreneur, content creator, or media company, launching your own streaming platform is more achievable than ever in today’s digital age.
In just 8 strategic steps, we’ll walk you through how to define your niche, gather or create content, choose a monetization strategy, and use a Netflix clone to dramatically cut down development time and cost. This guide also highlights how modern tools can help you integrate secure payments, build engaging interfaces, and offer high-quality live streaming and on-demand content—just like the world’s top OTT platforms.
By the end, you’ll not only understand how giants like Netflix built their success, but also how you can replicate it using customizable and ready-to-launch solutions from trusted providers like Miracuves.
✅ Step 1: Identify Your Audience and Content Focus
Success starts with specificity. Before building your platform, pinpoint your target audience and the type of content you’ll deliver. Like Netflix in its early days, starting with a focused niche gives you a strategic advantage.
Ask yourself:
Are you offering niche genres like fitness, documentaries, or anime?
Will your content be local, international, or language-specific?
Will you support on-demand, live streaming, or both?
Answering these will shape your technology choices, UI/UX, and content acquisition plan.
✅ Step 2: Decide on Your Monetization Model
To generate revenue, your OTT platform needs a clear payment strategy. Here are the most common models:
SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand): Recurring monthly/annual payments for unlimited access.
AVOD (Ad-based Video on Demand): Free content supported by advertising revenue.
TVOD (Transactional Video on Demand): Pay-per-view access for individual shows or films.
You can also consider a hybrid approach, blending subscription packages with premium one-time payments to cater to a broader user base.
✅ Step 3: Acquire or Produce Quality Content
Content is the heart of your streaming platform. You can either:
License content from distributors, producers, or creators.
Develop original content to set your brand apart and build loyalty.
Just like Netflix gained massive traction with originals like Stranger Things, your unique or exclusive content could become your competitive edge. Many Netflix clone solutions come with built-in content management tools to make this process seamless.
✅ Step 4: Build with a Netflix Clone Solution
Developing a streaming app from scratch can be time-consuming and expensive. Instead, a customizable Netflix clone from providers like Miracuves allows you to fast-track your launch.
Top Netflix clone features include:
Web and mobile app (iOS, Android) deployment
User account management and watch history
Secure payment integrations
Admin dashboard and analytics
Powerful CMS to manage videos
High-speed live streaming and VOD delivery with CDN support
This approach gives you a professionally designed and fully functional OTT platform—without months of development.
✅ Step 5: Choose Robust and Scalable Infrastructure
To handle user traffic and deliver smooth streaming, you need cloud-based hosting that can scale. Platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure offer the performance, reliability, and global reach you need.
Key infrastructure features:
Adaptive bitrate streaming
Global CDN (Content Delivery Network) integration
Real-time encoding for live streaming
99.9% uptime
A dependable backend ensures a seamless experience for viewers—even during peak hours.
✅ Step 6: Focus on Exceptional User Experience
A user-friendly interface is crucial to retaining users. Take cues from Netflix’s minimal and intuitive design. Your platform should offer:
Mobile-first, responsive layout
Easy browsing and advanced filtering
Personalized content recommendations
User watchlists and viewing history
Many Netflix clone apps include customizable front-end themes to align the design with your brand.
✅ Step 7: Launch Across Web, Mobile & Smart TVs
Viewers today expect content access on any device. Ensure your app supports:
Web browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.)
iOS and Android mobile apps
Smart TVs and OTT devices like Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV
Cross-platform availability increases engagement and user retention by allowing seamless switching between devices.
✅ Step 8: Market, Analyze & Optimize
Once your streaming platform is live, the real work begins—growth. Focus on promoting and refining your app using:
SEO and blog content
Social media marketing
Influencer campaigns
Email and retargeting ads
Leverage the analytics tools included in most Netflix clone platforms to track:
Viewer behavior
Top-performing content
Subscription trends and churn rates
This insight helps you adapt your content and marketing strategy for continuous growth.
🚀 Final Thoughts
Building a successful app like Netflix is entirely within reach when you use the right strategy and tools. A ready-made Netflix clone from Miracuves offers everything you need—from scalable infrastructure and engaging UI to powerful monetization and content tools.
With the OTT industry continuing to expand, there’s a growing opportunity to launch niche or large-scale video streaming platforms tailored to your audience. Whether you're starting small or aiming big, this 8-step blueprint can help you build a profitable, long-lasting digital entertainment business.

purely speculative stuff about watcher's business behind the cut
cr1tikal/penguinz0 talked in his video about the watcher announcement about how he has staff and he doesn't believe they weren't pulling in enough to pay them, but i also don't know how much charlie knows about watcher's setup and team.
charlie's esports team has high salaries that he pays, sure. but watcher has many people with some pretty high-salary titles, and they're friends or family of the ryan/shane/steven. it is really hard to negotiate a low starting salary in that position.
on top of that, they operate in LA, pay for a pretty big set, and do generally more expensive content than charlie. charlie streams from his room and half of watcher content requires travel. it's entirely conceivable to me that their business expenses are really high for a youtube channel.
they also recently hired two more folks for some of steven's content.
the vimeo OTT platform is extraordinarily quick to set up. you can get started with their base package without even doing a demo. given that they dont have the app included in the bigger enterprise option, i'd guess they went this route. they first started teasing the announcement only FIVE days ago, which is a pretty short runway compared to other content creator announcements. (try guys is currently teasing something about a month away, by comparison.)
from the start, none of this has felt well thought out. even though they said they articulated their reasoning poorly in the announcement, the core message of the announcement and the apology is the same: "we can't afford to continue operating as we have, and don't want to scale back."
i think they just recently did some number crunching and realized they were in deep shit. as i've speculated in other posts, they didn't do market research and were way too optimistic about their conversion rate. they were also relying on their initial pitch of taking everything off youtube to push people on the platform. i do think they are genuinely scrambling.
the part of this that they're going to have to work on for the next few months to a year, though, is that they should have known their business was unsustainable WAY before now. this reeks of no one paying attention to the books. it should not have come to scrambling for a new way to bring in a lot of revenue, fast. this is the kind of thing you don't usually see until a company is about to release a death rattle. it's the same last-ditch move as collegehumor going under and dropout going fully paid as the only way to survive.
except dropout wasn't responsible for collegehumor's mismanagement, and they also told people they were going to die otherwise.

Want Your Own Netflix? Here’s How You Can Build a Video Streaming App That Competes
Let’s be real—Netflix has become the gold standard when it comes to binge-worthy content and buttery-smooth streaming. But have you ever wondered…
What if you could build a video streaming app like Netflix yourself?
Whether you're a film enthusiast, indie content creator, or an entrepreneur with a big idea—2025 is the perfect time to jump into the OTT game.
The Streaming Boom Is Bigger Than Ever
From K-dramas to true crime docs, streaming is now the default way we consume content. Platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ dominate, but there’s room for niche, localized, and curated content platforms.
And guess what? You don’t need a billion-dollar tech team to start.
How to Create a Netflix Clone App (Without Starting From Scratch)
Building a streaming platform might sound intimidating—but it's totally doable with the right tools. Thanks to modern development kits and pre-built solutions, you can create a Netflix clone app with:
Custom branding (your name, your logo!)
Smart recommendation engines
User subscriptions & payment systems
Multi-device support (mobile, tablet, smart TV)
The key? No need to reinvent the wheel. Use what's already working—and make it yours.
Go White-Label and Go Big
Enter the white-label OTT platform solution.
This basically means you get a ready-made video streaming platform that you can customize and brand as your own. Companies like Miracuves specialize in offering Netflix-style solutions where:
You own the content
You control the users
You set the pricing and access levels
You even get analytics to measure engagement
It’s the fastest, smartest way to launch a serious streaming business without coding from the ground up.
🔗 Build your own white-label OTT platform with Miracuves
Why Now Is the Right Time
People want alternatives. Not everyone wants to pay for 5 different subscriptions. A specialized or regional Netflix alternative app can fill the gap.
Content is king. If you have access to original or curated content, you already have a unique angle.
Tech is easier than ever. With tools like no-code platforms, streaming APIs, and white-label kits, the barriers to entry are low.
Ready to Stream Your Way?
Whether you're looking to start the next global sensation or a niche community platform, you can absolutely launch a video streaming app like Netflix—today.
All you need is: ✔️ A clear content strategy ✔️ A powerful backend ✔️ The right tech partner (hint: Miracuves is your best bet)
So go ahead—create your Netflix clone app and start streaming your vision to the world.

Why desicinema Continues to Captivate Audiences Around the World

When you think of cinema that merges vibrant colors, raw emotion, music, and deeply rooted culture, the first thing that comes to mind is probably desicinema. It's not just a film industry—it’s an emotion, a mirror of society, and a celebration of stories. Over the decades, desicinema has managed to evolve, entertain, and, more importantly, remain relevant in a rapidly changing world.
Rooted in Culture, Yet Universally Relatable
One of the unique aspects of desicinema is its deeply cultural foundation. Whether it's the conservative values of a joint family, the struggles of rural farmers, or the chaotic charm of an Indian wedding, these themes resonate with audiences both within South Asia and abroad. But what makes desicinema particularly special is its universal emotional core—love, loss, ambition, and conflict are stories we all understand.
The emotional storytelling often found in desicinema has allowed it to transcend borders. Films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Lagaan, and Dangal didn't just strike a chord with Indian audiences; they moved millions globally. The blend of melodrama, romance, and music gives these films a distinct identity while still allowing room for global relatability.
The Power of Music and Dance
You can’t talk about desicinema without mentioning music. Songs are not just inserted for entertainment—they are integral to the storytelling. From heartbreak anthems to celebratory wedding tracks, the music often reflects the emotional highs and lows of the film’s narrative. This adds a layer of engagement that’s hard to find in many other film industries.
Dance sequences, while sometimes seen as over-the-top by Western standards, are symbolic in desicinema. They express joy, sorrow, love, and rebellion—sometimes more effectively than dialogue could. It’s no wonder that Bollywood-style dance classes have popped up all over the world, from New York to Nairobi.
An Industry That Reflects Change
Over the years, desicinemas has also matured. What was once an industry focused largely on escapist entertainment has now diversified to include hard-hitting social commentaries, experimental storytelling, and global narratives. Films like Article 15, Gully Boy, and Newton reflect this shift, offering critiques on caste, inequality, and political corruption.
What’s particularly commendable is how desicinema doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable truths. In a country as diverse and complex as India, films often take on the role of starting necessary societal conversations.
Global Reach and Digital Expansion
The rise of OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hotstar has pushed desicinema beyond traditional boundaries. Audiences around the world can now access regional Indian cinema—Tamil, Malayalam, Marathi, and Bengali films—with just a click. This has given rise to a new appreciation for stories that might have otherwise been missed.
Additionally, diasporic communities in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia have become major consumers of desicinema, keeping their cultural roots alive while also influencing the direction of content. Today’s filmmakers are increasingly aware that their audience is not just Indian, but global.
Conclusion: More Than Just Movies
desicinema is not just about what plays on the screen—it's about the experience, the emotion, and the culture it encapsulates. It is deeply intertwined with the way people celebrate, grieve, and dream. As long as people seek stories that reflect both their realities and their fantasies, desicinema will continue to thrive. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer curious about this cinematic universe, there's always something in desicinema to fall in love with.
Blog Post 2: desicinema and the Stories That Shape a Nation
From its early black-and-white beginnings to today’s high-budget visual spectacles, desicinema has always been more than just a medium of entertainment. It's been a storyteller, a cultural commentator, and a silent yet powerful force in shaping modern India and the wider South Asian identity.
The Mirror of Society
desicinema has long served as a mirror reflecting the aspirations, anxieties, and evolution of Indian society. In the post-independence era, films like Mother India and Do Bigha Zamin depicted the struggles of a young nation finding its footing. These weren’t just stories; they were reflections of real lives.
As the decades rolled on, the tone shifted. The 1970s brought the angry young man—a symbol of rebellion against a corrupt system. Amitabh Bachchan, as the voice of the disenfranchised, became a cultural icon not just because he was charismatic, but because he represented the frustration of an entire generation.
Challenging Stereotypes and Embracing Complexity
Earlier, desicinema was guilty of painting life in black and white. Villains were obviously evil, and heroes were always morally upright. But that narrative has shifted dramatically. Films now embrace complexity. A movie like Queen celebrates female independence without villainizing men. Piku explores modern relationships without adhering to dramatic tropes. Masaan dares to question social norms in a deeply conservative society.
This evolution is critical because it proves that desicinema is capable of both mass appeal and critical introspection. It’s not afraid to point the finger at uncomfortable truths—whether about caste, patriarchy, or political manipulation.
Regional Powerhouses Rising
While Bollywood often dominates the conversation, the real gems of desicinema increasingly come from regional cinemas. Malayalam cinema, for example, has earned a reputation for nuanced storytelling. Films like Kumbalangi Nights or The Great Indian Kitchen deal with intimate, socially resonant themes. Tamil and Marathi cinema have also been pushing the envelope, offering stories that are grounded, authentic, and daringly different.
What this means is that desicinema is no longer a monolith. It’s a rich, layered universe with multiple voices—and that diversity is its greatest strength.
A Bridge Across Generations and Borders
Another remarkable aspect of desicinema is how it connects generations. A 60-year-old and a 16-year-old can both find joy in a Shah Rukh Khan movie, albeit for different reasons. Its blend of tradition and modernity makes it accessible across age groups and geographies.
For the South Asian diaspora, desicinema is often a cultural lifeline. It brings the smells, sounds, and sights of "home" to places far away. In many ways, it plays the role of a cultural ambassador, softening international perspectives and opening doors to mutual understanding.
In Conclusion: A Living, Breathing Legacy
desicinema isn’t just surviving—it’s thriving, adapting, and growing stronger with each passing year. As new filmmakers take the reins and fresh stories emerge, the legacy only deepens. It’s an ever-evolving canvas—sometimes messy, often magical, and always meaningful.
As we look ahead, one thing is certain: desi cinema will continue to inspire, provoke, and unite. And in doing so, it will remain one of the most powerful storytelling traditions in the world.
