lmao sorry to everyone in my inbox, this month has been a mess and I'm just not really around enough for it. someone in my immediate family got a new cancer diagnosis, my not-art job got restructured because management is a joke and it's been.... not great, to be honest! to top it off, my mom's cousin just died because the major hospital didn't have enough beds open for the provincial hospital to transfer him. etc etc etc.
anyway. it's been a lot and I'm Very Tired Of Things Happening 🙃

I could use a laptop i can actually bring to school cus my current 5,5 yo girl does not charge 80% of the time (perma plugged in like a desktop) and now i am wondering if i should just get a lightweight laptop/tablet for school notes and keep my current gaming laptop until she falls apart (soon, i suspect), get a €1300 gaming laptop ( shit is expensive here) i can also bring to school which frankly i feel a bit squeeish about bringing a expensive gaming laptop on public transport, or get a small tablet/laptop plus proper pc tower gaming rig while i am spending money anyway. ( I can afford it as a necessary savings account expense)

March letter log
Managed 15 letters. Was hoping to do more but 15 was my goal and I've met it three months running, and March was kind of a little bit shit. I destroyed my laptop and had to get a new one, and my last back up was last year so lost files. The thing I'm most upset about losing is my letter logs from January and February (short summaries I write of each letter so I can track what I said to who and the date). I've been keeping records of how many letters I send each month on tumblr so I'll know my total at the end of the year but those logs are more or less lost.

finally got a real laptop!! I can type on documents now without everything stopping
#whatever new policies the district has been trying the past few weeks have made the school “laptops” completely fucking unusable#they banned every extension including the offline document editor and adblock#allowed them again by the end of the day#banned them again#and now one in every 5 google searches gets blocked because it flagged something somewhere#and it didn’t allow you to add a different google account. so no way to ever actually get the information from the search#did i mention. that. what i had been working with the whole year was#it takes 10x longer to type because it’s so slow and every time i switch tabs there’s a 5% chance it messes up and loses everything#that was still within the range of what i considered usable#my best friend saw me trying to work on the Assignment once and he was like what didn’t you used to have two windows open at once#with a ton of tabs in each one a couple years ago?? how much worse did the school laptops get?? you should consider getting a real laptop??#anyway it’s so refreshing being able to. do basic computer things without difficulty#only issue was that i had to fix the fucked up trackpad settings. but it works fine now#my posts

I have, for the first time in apparently 5 years, touched the linux laptop i have and dear gosh i have never felt so incredibly tech stupid. what do you mean i need to go in the console to update my firefox version. how do i do anything on this thing. i just want the youtubes without ads halp

Was doing very well on keeping up with summer goals but today my laptop really started giving out so we are back to square one and with a bump on the head to boot :')

Ughhhhhhh I hate writing and I hate not writing and I hate myself
#nearly bought a digital typewriter today. actually i DID buy a digital typewriter today. officially yes i have bought a digital typewriter.#the money for the digital typewriter has left my account but i have emailed them to cancel the order because i can't in good faith buy#a digital typewriter when i don't fucking WRITE#i thought it might help me get back into it. distraction free and while allowing me to not judge my own writing#and be continuously editing while i write and going 'i'm crap i'm crap i'm crap no one will ever read this and if they do they will think#that i'm garbage and that i should feel bad etc etc etc'#but it's too expensive and i have the feeling i wouldn't even like or use the thing once i got it#because the IDEAS! the ideas aren't coming to me. or rather they are but none of them seem to stick#i feel underconfident in writing any of them#and then i have old projects that i've always wanted to get back to like the tennis romance thing but SO much has changed since i first#started drafting it. like i don't even know if i like the main couple anymore. i kind of want to put both of them with different OCs of min#but it'd switch up the WHOLE story if i had a different cast#in fact most of the problem lies in the fact that i have this long-running bedtime story i tell myself every night with lore#and a massive cast of characters that i switch out depending on who i'm most interested in right now and every so often i incorporate new#themes and ideas and motifs and plot points sometimes based on media i've been watching because it's MY bedtime story and it doesn't matter#if i plagiarise in my own brain. but then obviously i can't plagiarise in real life#and none of my bedtime stories are GOING anywhere. sometimes i only get through a scene or two before i fall asleep#all of which means my bedtime story is not so much a sweeping epic novel but a sitcom with way too many characters#most of which are werewolves to be honest and sometimes for my own wish fulfilment one of them will walk out of my head#and take care of my problems for me by lending me £1million or murdering my best friend's ex. in my mind obviously#so it's like. it's a case of getting in there and annexing off the stuff i think i can use#it's like yeah i've definitely written several romance novels in my head in the process of this but does it matter if they're IN my HEAD#to be honest i feel like my main strength is in creating characters. like i have this one family of werewolves i've been slowly but surely#adding members to since i was like 16. maybe younger? no yeah i think i made the first one when i was 12#they're compelling to ME anyway. i care about them. it's just PLOTS. i can't plot#if a book could just be a lot of dialogue and sex scenes and silly moments and character studies i'd be alright#i also can't describe settings. don't ask me to because i can't#and now i'm just annoyed with myself because i sat down at my laptop to try to write and instead i'm here complaining about how i don't wri#and if i had the digital typewriter... i mean i'd probably still be doing this i'd just no longer have £300#i don't have the £300 anyway. i hope to christ they refund my card i'm a fucking idiot

#my chrome book is reaching the end of its natural lifespan#Ive gotten it to last like more than a couple years at this point#but chrome books are pretty much awful devices#so I need to go out and get a laptop that's NOT a chrome book#but for one thing I've literally never owned a laptop that's not a chrome book#I saved up and bought my current chrome book for like freshman year of highschool#I waited for a memorial day sale and special pricing so I could get it on like three discounts#so aside from the cost I have *no* idea where to go about buying a new laptop#I need one that's pretty sturdy at least and preferably similar size to a chrome book#I like the way I can charge things by attaching them to my Chromebook I like the way the keyboard is set out and I like that the touch-#screen and keypad aren't that sensitive#so I need to a) find a new laptop b) have the money to buy that laptop and c) learn how to use that laptop#none of which are things that I'll be particularly good at#I just want my 130 dollar old enough to be in elementary school hunk of plastic to work forever is that to much to ask#I've actually gotten it to live much longer than normal lmfao#really hoping it'll stay functional for at least another month or two#I hate getting new tech#I’ve still got an iPhone 8 for heavens sake#You can pry it out of my cold dead hands#I should probably get a new one but like. This one works pretty much.#Nothings cracked it charges fine all the buttons work#Honestly I’d prefer a phone a shade older than this one with a seperate headphone Jack#Basically the whole design of new phones is anti-me#Wide flat smooth super thin light and easily breakable#Plus I don’t have confidence that everything on this phone would transfer over. Really feeling that Baldur's Gate 3 FOMO tonight, especially where Astarion is concerned 😩😩
I was literally looking at Gaming PCs online, even though I shouldn't get one right now. Though I didn't even think about places having a Labor Day sale! I think what I'm gonna do, is try to save up as much as I can the next few months, and then take a look on Black Friday, cause the deals might be good enough I could swing one then. I've been wanting to get a desktop computer for a while, since my laptop is over 10 years old and essentially doesn't function anymore, and this has just made that desire that much more acute lol
#personal shit#currently trying to fill the BG3 sized void i feel in my soul right now#and i cant quite figure out how to do that#especially without spending a bunch of money#and here i was thinking about getting Fae Farm or the new Lego bugs set when they come out next week#but if im serious about getting a PC in November#i definitely shouldn't#and should save up instead#i think this is a good idea#also there's a TON of other games i currently have that i cant play because my laptop is such shit!#i just got the cozy game bundle that humble bundle had#which includes witchy life story and lemoncake!!!#but it was for steam so i cant play it#plus i got a ton of stuff on itchio from a couple charity bundles i did#so it would get its use!!!#the other option was to save up for a ps5#which would have been nice for the new spider-man game#but i dont really want a ps5 and i do really want a new computer#plus i think there's a good chance the new spider-man game will get a pc release too#eventually lol#since the first one did!#anyway if anyone has any recommendations for getting a new computer especially one good for gaming im all ears#baldur's gate 3

the terrible news is my phone got wet, it’s currently at a repair place getting looked at but it’s likely unsalvageable, and i’m moving in four days and have a mountain of shit to do and no serotonin machine
