i caved and got dbh for my pc (despite already having it for my console) and honestly it's nice to be able to have have my monitor so close to me and be able to really just stare at all the details in the gallery (i may have spent an obscene amount of time staring at each character model)

here's some details i noticed about connor's model

firstly, wtf is going on with his shoes. like does it have laces???? is it just a slip-on??? I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE TOPS OF THE SHOES LOOK LIKE. also why are his jeans unhemmed?????

at the bottom of his jacket there's the two little dark grey rectangles that honestly i never really noticed and i don't think i've ever included it in my art bc my brain just erases them from my brain. it's such a random design choice and i can't decide if i hate them or not.

also why tf does he have two random button holes on the front of his jacket??? his jacket doesn't have buttons???? i cannot fathom why these exist or what their purpose is

never really took the time to analyze connor's jacket so closely and i love the detail of the different materials on his jacket. like the tessellated triangle motif throughout his jacket clearly being some sort of synthetic material compared to the cotton/wool fibers

also i love the seam detail on his sleeve? like i love how it's not just one straight line but adds more shape and design to his cuff.

i love the texture on the top back half of connor's jacket. it reminds me of carpet or those really textured couches. it's like some type of corduroy likely or something. i wanna touch it. also the cyberlife branding right under the ANDROID text how did i never notice that??

if you look at the inner lining of his white collar, it has a darker liner on the inside. i don't think you typically see that on white button-ups???

lastly LOOK AT HIS NECK MOLES. HE'S GOT SO MANY LITTLE NECK MOLES. and after extensive zooming in and out and looking at it from all angles, i have determined that he has a little tiny mole on the back of his right ear on the rim. idk if you can see it in these screenies BUT IT'S THERE I SWEAR TO YOU. he's also got the little divot some ppl have on their ears near the top of his ear.

anyway, uhm, yeah i totally haven't spent more time staring at the character models than i have spent playing the actual game

i was also staring at kara's and markus' models and might post my thoughts observations on those at another time. but for now we got connor.

User hamatoanne's fic plagiarism

Hello, I’m the author of The Android, an AO3 Robot OC x Reader fic that was plagiarized by hamatoanne on Tumblr in her Aemond x Reader story, System Error. You can read my AO3 post for more info about the issue. As you can tell by the timestamps on AO3 and the screenshots of her now-deleted story, mine was posted months before hers. I didn’t want to make this public, but it appears Anne has not learned her lesson and is grasping at straws to keep her readers in the dark. She’s been deleting her stories to hide evidence of her plagiarism. I think you deserve to know who your beloved writer gets her words from.

I don’t know this fandom, but I’ve heard you guys can get pretty crazy. Control yourselves. The only one who needs to take responsibility is Anne. Don’t send hate to her mutuals. Don’t send hate to her followers. Don’t stalk or harass or dox anyone. Read through this post and form your opinion.

First bunch of screenshots: A side-by-side comparison of her story (now deleted) and mine (still up and linked above). I took screenshots in advance in case something like this happened so I’d have proof if I needed it. I decided to compare the first chapter of my fic with the first part of hers. I could do the whole thing, but I’m a busy college student and I think just a quick skim of the pictures below is enough for people to see the extent of her plagiarism. 

I have screenshots of her entire post, but I don’t want to make this too long to scroll through and Tumblr posts cap at 30 pictures. I’m assuming some of you have already read her story multiple times, so you’re familiar with the words. If you haven’t, then I should warn you that the fic that she plagiarized is very not SFW. I’ll let you know where the not SFW content starts so you can skip it.

Finally, I DM’ed her. This was just before I posted to The Android on AO3 about the situation. To summarize, I wrote about how I would go about the situation and how hurt I was about a bigger creator stealing from me. I admit, I was too kind and too much of a pushover. I just wanted things to go quietly. She later replied with this and deleted her fic immediately. 

“I was completely stupid for not giving your credit” Why do they always play dumb? You copy that much and can’t even think to put my name there? You credit the artist but not the person who basically wrote your whole story? The story that gave you over 3k notes, so much more clout than any of your other stories has earned you? Total BS.

“I had every intention of giving credit where it was due…But I forgot” Right. Sure. Of course. If she felt guilty about plagiarizing, she would not be so shameless to accept praise like she did. I have examples of where she happily thanked people for complimenting "her work”, but didn’t want to bring other blogs into this, especially since they were none the wiser to her plagiarism. Ironically enough, someone even gifted her a badge for being a good writer the day she replied to my DM. She tagged that post “#a breath of fresh air on a horrible day”. I wonder why her day was horrible. Whoever gifted her that badge deserves their money back.

My thoughts when approaching her DMs were:

If she wants to keep up the story? Fine, just edit the post to say that it was heavily influenced by my story and leave a link to the original. I don’t mind. The readers will see that, click my story, compare the two, and think, “Hey, that’s not just inspiration! She plagiarized!” and her downfall would start from there without me having to do anything.

If she ignored me and didn’t fulfill that request, i would take matters into my own hands and expose her on her own post. Even more damaging.

In the end, she chose to delete the post entirely, getting rid of the evidence and her clout. I actually didn’t expect this outcome since I thought she’d like the clout too much, but I guess she decided this route would be the least damaging to her reputation. Everything was swept under the rug for now. 

And like a fool, I said thanks and went on with my life. But I decided to keep track of her. Because while I was too cowardly to do anything, I knew there would always be someone in the crowd who would take action. And it seems like people did. 

After reading the supportive comments from readers of my fic, I started to regret how lightly I handled it. I wanted to be mature even though I wanted her entire blog to fall and her reputation taken away. But I didn’t want to be a “bad person”. I wondered if I should keep pursuing the issue. I realized that my overly-people-pleasing behavior might lead her to continue her ways. I decided to speak out because others might’ve had their works taken by her and that my silence wasn’t helping. 

Next is her post, now deleted (I wonder why), about how she’s been so sad and how she’s going to be deleting her old stories and starting over. I’m likely not the only one she’s plagiarized from if she’s deleting other stories. At the time, I only saw supportive replies and reblogs on it, but maybe she deleted it after people started calling her out? Idk.

She’s playing the victim game pretty hard. Acting as a kind underdog even though she’s the big creator who stole from a nobody like me. I know I said on my AO3 update that people shouldn’t send hate to her (and even censored her name after she deleted her story) but I guess I’m a little happy that people sought to call her out on her shit. I wish I was as brave. 

Later, a nice person (we’ll call her Bob because she asked to remain anonymous) DM’ed me directly with a kind message. After seeing this, I decided I should take action and expose all of this since Anne obviously hasn’t learned and wants to keep it all hidden. Bob confirmed that I’m not the only victim of Anne’s plagiarism either.

Bob asked that I not use screenshots of our DM’s so here is a transcription of the important parts:

“Hey! I just found out that one of your fics had been plagiarized by someone in the HOTD community. First of all, I am tremendously sorry that happened…”

(For Bob’s privacy, I won’t explain her relation to Anne. Just know that Anne has refused to message her back).

“I definitely think you should make a blog post. with side by side comparison. I am still completely gobsmacked that she pilfered your entire story word for word and changed a few things. We found evidence that she had plagiarized multiple stories. Not just yours. We found out her mermaid!aemond fic was entirely stolen as well as a few others. She has quietly deleted them and hasn't spoken on them since.”

“We surmised that she takes ‘underrated’ fics from different fandoms and changes the name and that's it. It's almost like she believed that stealing from other fandoms was going to draw less attention than stealing directly from the HOTD fandom.”

So if you noticed that one of your favorite Aemond fics is gone, now you know why.

‘But benny, she still wrote her own sentences and just changed it around to fit aemond!’

Fanfiction is transformative. You know what the source material is and who created it. You know you’re not reading a copied and pasted text with maybe some words and sentences switched around. This wasn’t fanfic. According to Google, plagiarism is defined as, “the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.” (See what I did there? I credited Google. Is it so hard to give credit where credit is due?) She copied people's work, didn't give credit to the source material, and claimed it as her own. That's plagiarism.

I wouldn’t have had a problem if she properly credited me and linked the original story. I wouldn’t have had a problem if she didn’t blatantly copy and paste the entire text and premise. I wouldn’t even require getting permission to write a story based on my fic if she had satisfied those conditions.

She’s a 27-year-old grown-ass woman with enough free time to simp over some blond guy with an eyepatch. I’m a 21-year-old college student who only posts fics during the summer and winter because that’s when school’s on break. I’m too busy writing lab reports and essays to be an active writer online. The fact that she can disrespect smaller writers so tremendously should not be acceptable. The fact that she also deceived her devoted readers and friends about her "works" is also unacceptable.

What can you do about this? To be honest, I don’t know what to do. I’ve never had to deal with this before. I want to be a good person and say, “Don’t send any hate to Anne, don’t harass her. Just unfollow her and stop supporting her.” But that obviously hasn’t taught her anything. She’ll just make a half-assed apology, maybe go on hiatus, maybe disappear, and then pop up again under another name to steal from another creator. If you have any ideas on how to deal with this, please tell us. 

She can try to block me or delete her posts, but the evidence is out and the damage is done. Anything she does to hide this mess will only make it worse for her. I’d appreciate people bringing more awareness to this issue, especially if it can reach the eyes of others she’s taken from.

I'm loving the animal reference repository!! Such a fantastic resource and I can't wait to use some of these photos for studies or painting reference. I was just wondering, is there a way to download the photos from the website? On one hand I can imagine you disabled this purposefully to prevent AI scraping or other unwanted use. But at the same time it can be handy for people to have high res photos to work with, and I personally like to have my reference photos in the photoshop file next to my drawing. (Also I was one of the people who asked about contributing photos. I honestly think the first 3 points you mentioned could be worked around quite easily. However the 4th (workload) is one I can't argue against of course. I'll see if I can make a small donation and if you ever do open up contributions... I'll be happy to share!!)

Yes! I want people to be able to save images, and you can! But Squarespace's image gallery setup makes it a pain to do. I've actually got a page on the site showing how to do that - do I need to make it more prominent?

The important thing to know is that when you click on a single image, it opens in a "lightbox" display, which for complicated web reasons won't let you save files directly from it. Saving has to be done when viewing the larger gallery page (the species page with all the images).

On mobile:

In gallery view, tap and hold on the image again you’re interested in saving. Tap “Save to Photos” to save it to your phone.

This will not work if you are viewing a single image full-screen on mobile. If viewing the image full-screen you can take a screenshot, but the resulting image will be lower resolution than if you saved it from the gallery view.

How this looks will vary on Android devices, but I've had friends confirm the pathing is pretty much the same even if the layout is a little different.

On desktop:

In gallery view, right click on the image you want to save and click on the “Save Image As” option.

This will not work if you are viewing a single shot full-screen in lightbox mode. If viewing a photo full-screen you can take a screenshot, but the resulting file will be lower resolution than if you saved it from the gallery view.

This worked when I set the site up, shoot me a note if it's broken since then.

The gallery pages allow me to mass-upload files so I don't have to do individual photo uploads, and they're more responsive on mobile... but this is the downside to that ease of use on the back-end.

you know those addictive little merge-style games that are fun except for being completely overloaded with ads? it's like that, but without the ads. trays of coffee come in three at a time, and you put them into the grid to make full trays of six of the same kind.

this one's a fun little platformer with a unique control method—you make the fox run by tapping the back of your phone! (there is an option to change that to something more normal, though.) true to the name, speed is very important here. you're not on a timer unless you're trying to get the third gem of a level, but the game keeps track of your record times.

it might not be visually impressive, but there's no funny business here. you came for puzzles, and that's what you're getting. there's a huge number of puzzles included in the app (under different names from their usual, admittedly), and you can customize the difficulty all you want.

this is another puzzle game, but it's more timing based. you need to maneuver the dog around each level to collect all the bones on the ground while avoiding hostile cats and humans.

word game fans, don't think i've forgotten you! in WordSmith, you're given an assortment of letters that are color coded as starts of words, ends of words, intersections (taking priority over starts and ends), and middles of words, and tasked to put them all into a crossword. there are several difficulty settings, and the timer in the bottom right corner is completely ignorable if you so choose.

this one's very simple! your character climbs up the wall on the side of the screen, and you tap to have them jump to the other side to avoid rocks. the goal is to see how far you can go!

in this game, you control a ball that travels along a line, switching directions whenever you tap the screen. the line starts out straight, but becomes more and more curved over the course of play. you're also under constant bombardment from obstacles you need to protect your ball from, and there are occasional power ups on one end of the line or the other.

secretly likes it when someone takes care of him. whether it’s bandaging a cut or insisting he eats when he’s been working too hard, he fucking melts. he’ll complain about being babied, but it’s a front.

In DBH fandom I've noticed there is this certain topic circulating around a lot, That "Connor and Hank don't have and can't have a father-son relationship because of these scenes existing" :

As someone who played this game hundreds of forward, back, up and down, I can CONFIRM that they are NOT having a Father-Son relationship in those scenes! But NEITHER are they Friends or Lovers there!

❧ Before you get angry or copy-paste that circulating opinion, Please take a minute to read and I will explain what those scenes mean for those who didn't play the game to give a clearer view about how the opinion in question is False:

DBH is an awesome game where you as a player can bend the narrative. You are the one who can slightly or totally change the entire story AND of course, a relationships of characters between each other. This is the magic of the game, you can create dozens of variations and even more in your own interpretation.

These particular scenes exists only if you go a "machine" route of Connor's story, kinda considered as 'evil' or a 'bad ending' kind of choice. Connor has no emotions (or just the sassy ones) and despite Hank's trying to gain a new hope towards androids, Connor dissapoints him, and those game choices leads to one of them dying, most iconically on the rooftop where the top screenshots are from.

However due to shortening the game and bad programming (and for my biggest frustration about that part) this scene also happens if Hank and Connor like each other but Connor dies on a mission to Jericho and even if he dies as a deviant bcs he's a new machine version of himself 'sent by Cyberlife' and that's enough for the game to drop Hank's relationship with Connor back to zero. At that point it's up to Player if Connor decides to leave without a fight (and then Connor continues the 'machine' route).

But even then as far as I know there is no happy reunion ending of them after.

The second scene, metaphorically called as "the Bridge", which happens way before the rooftop scene, is one of the first crucial moments where the characters decide where their relationship is heading.

…Or at least it looks like it.

Hank is drunk, full of gloomy thoughts and confusement about humanity in androids, and so he decides to tease Connor with a gun to get clearer answers about what is happening in Connor's head. Disclaimer: Of course that is nothing a person should do and a drunk state is no excuse. Such behaviour and mistreating of a weapon, plust that it comes from an officer of law is considered despiteful, but let's just work with what the game gives us; Hank is trying to make Connor feel uneasy and cause him slip up some words that would indicate to Hank that Connor is more human than he looks/presents himself like, or the very opposite. Will he shoot him? Will he spare him? It's up to the Player.

However the scene is kinda badly programmed. If you already have a bad relationship with Hank, no matter how humane answers you give him, he will kill Connor. And same for the opposite. If Hank likes Connor already, no matter how cold, bad or machine answers you provide, Hank will spare Connor.

You see? There is nothing Father-Son going on on those scenes BUT unless they have some weird kink, there is no Romance going on either 👍

An android phone and a way to transfer files between your phone and computer(a wire is preferable in my experience)

First you'll need to transfer the game files to your computer. I assume you already have that part done so I won't walk you through it.

Next go into AssetStudioGUI and go into 'Debug' and turn off 'Show error message' to save yourself some headache

Now you need to open the folder with the files in AssetStudio. This will probably take a long time. Get yourself something to eat or play a game or read or something!

Once everything is loaded you'll need to find one of the live2d files. For tokyo debunker the easiest way to do this is just to go to "Filter Type" and filter to "Texture2D". I don't know the file structure or naming convention for Twst, but the image you're looking for should look kind of like this

Right click and choose "Show original file".

Copy the FOLDER that this file is in to another folder.

If you haven't already extracted L2DExtractor, do that now. You should have these files.

Open the L2DExtractor FOLDER in another tab or window. Then drag the folder that you copied before to "UnityLive2DExtractor.exe" in the UnitLive2DExtractor folder that you have in a separate window. (You can also copy it and right click→paste it INTO THE EXE FILE if dragging is difficult.)

You should get a command prompt(the black box with text in it) with the name of the asset in it. Wait until it says "Done!" Close the command prompt.

Go to the folder that you put the asset folder in. You should now have a new folder named "Live2DOutput". That will have a folder in it. Go into the folder until you find the asset you just extracted.

You should now have the .moc3 file, textures, and motions! You can open the moc3 file with Live2D's Cubism Viewer which you get off of their website. It's free.

If you don't have the expressions in there you'll have to extract them separately! I always have to extract them separately and I'm not sure why, but it's easy enough once you know where they are.

Open AssetStuido back up and change your filter to "MonoBehavior"

Search "exp3"

Order by Container and find the character character and outfit you just extracted(in this case I just need to find "romeo_academy". The name of the asset you extracted should be in the container path.

Highlight only the .exp3 files that go to this asset.

Go to "Options→Export options"

Change "Group exported assets by" to "Do not group". If you want to do any datamining in the future you're probably going to want to change this back to "container path" or else you'll just get a ton of files in one folder, so don't forget you did this! If you're only using assetstudio to get the l2d files however you can leave it as is.

Press "OK"

Right click on one of your highlighted exp3 files

Choose "Export selected assets"

Navigate to the folder with the moc3 file in it. Make a new folder. The name doesn't matter because you'll have to manually move the expressions into l2d every time, but I just use "expressions" for simplicity

Extract the exp3 files into here.

Once they're extracted you can select them all at once and drag them into the Cubism Viewer window OF THE CORRECT CHARACTER. This will instantly import all of the expressions.

You're done! You can view and play with them all you want. But you'll have to do every character individually and then export their expressions separately.

I kinda ramble going forward but if anyone was curious about the process/behind the scenes-

I’ve wanted to make a mod about the other AX-400 variant for a while now. What better time to post it than the series release month, right? My original plan was to just swap her with Kara take a few screenshots and post pretty quickly like normal

I did that and I wasn’t happy about it. It was looking more like “Kara but she’s Black” and there wasn’t a clear storyline. I want my mods to be original and this just… wasn’t it. So I got rid of Alice and figured I’d use another kid. But as I’m looking for scenes to capture, I noticed something

Zoey. The kid from the intro who was admiring Kara. She’s used a few times throughout Detroit, often with the other AX-400.

I remembered there was a kid and an adult NPC somewhere in Jericho playing catch. That’d be cute, I’ll just swap them with Zoey and the android. Let’s boot it up so I know exactly who to change

The chapter starts and after messing around for a few minutes there’s Zoey with another NPC talking about how the families getting rid of their android Mandy

BatB Week podfic instructions and tips

Thanks to everyone who signed up for the podfic exchange! If you signed up as a reader, you should have gotten a message with info on who you matched with. Send a DM if you missed the message.

I don’t personally do voice/audio work, but I’ve pulled together some quick tips and instructions for recording, editing, and posting podfics below the cut. If someone else has better/more suggestions, please add on!

Recording and editing

Need audio recording/editing software? You don't need anything fancy; you can record it on whatever voice recording software comes installed on your phone (I have Samsung Voice Recorder, for instance), or use one of these free, beginner-friendly audio editors: Lexis Audio Editor (Android, iOS, Windows), Audacity (Windows, Mac, Linux), GarageBand (Mac), Audiotool (online).

Nastasia Marquez has a great tutorial on how to record and edit voiceovers for beginners in Audacity. It's very easy to follow along and gets straight to the point.

When recording, watch out for plosives and sibilances (e.g. your "pps," "sss," and "shh") as they can easily hinder the quality of your recording by being aggressive to the ear. It’s hard to give tips since everyone will be working with different devices, but my suggestion would be to put some space between your mouth and the microphone, or have your device inside a sock. You can learn more on them and how to deal with them here.

A good way to get clean audio is to record under a blanket. It’s silly, but it’s as close to a padded studio as you can get for free. It reduces echo and makes the audio sound much better no matter the mic you use.

Don't be afraid to record in short batches! There’s no need to do it in long unbroken takes. Piece it together later.

Posting the audio file

Once you have your finished audio file, you have to upload it somewhere, because AO3 can host the link to it, but not the audio file itself. It seems like Internet Archive is popular for hosting podfic audio files. You can also host it on Google Drive, YouTube, Mediafire, or Spotify.

Posting the podfic to AO3

Go to ‘Post > New work’ just like you would for posting any fic to AO3.

In the ‘Post to Collections / Challenges’ field, enter “beauty_beast_week_2025” (see first screenshot below).

Check the box that reads ‘This work is a remix, a translation, a podfic, or was inspired by another work’ and include the URL to the original fic (see first screenshot below). This not only gives credit to and notifies the author, but it adds a link to your podfic from their fic (when they approve it) so that your podfic gets more hits and kudos.

In the body of the post, insert the HTML to embed the audio file (see second screenshot below). It’s easy: AO3 has a simple guide to copy and paste from here.

If you’d like, you can add more content to the body of the post, like the event banner or some text, but it’s not necessary.

Posting to the event

Important: tag the @beauty-beast-week account within the body of your Tumblr post itself by typing the @ symbol, typing beauty-beast-week, and then selecting that account name from the autocomplete menu that appears. Since I keep getting repeated questions, I've decided to make a FAQ where I can put all explanations to and link to it 👉👉

❓How do I keep Leo on top of my screen applications?

If you want him to stay on top of your windows, right click him, then go to Options - Preferences, then the Ghost(2) tab in the big menu that pops up. Check "Always Show Foreground" and that should do it.

❓Is there any screenshots on how I can install Leo?

Check out this post, it describes how to install Leo, screenshots included

❓Does Leo work on Chromebook, IOS, newer Android, etc? Will he ever?

No. I can't personally make him work on other platforms - unless the developers of the software (called SSP) will make SSP work on those platforms, Leo won't be able to work there.

❓How do I talk to Leo? How do I ask him a question? How do I pet him?

After installing Leo, if you want to interact with him just double click him - anywhere but his face. Right click on him calls more generic options menu.

To pet him, stroke the top of his head with your mouse, no clicking. If you want to know more general area, look at this gif here.

❓Download link for Leonardo doesn't seem to be working, what should I do?

Since the download link in my post leads to the website I made on neocities, sometimes website doesn't work, but you should be able to install Leo straight from the Google Drive here. You can see instructions linked in the second question of this post.

❓My data doesn't save - every time I open Leo, the introduction plays again, what should I do?

Most of the time it means that the files have been installed incorrectly, and folders are not where they should be.

Here's the files you should have in your 'ghost' folder (the location of which will most probably be your 'downloads' folder), and files you should have there

For the first 'ghost' folder, unless you installed desktop ghosts before you will only have 'Future Leonardo' and 'emily4' folders

Inside the 'shell' folder you should have 3 folders - 'Taileo', 'Neon Leon' and 'Chin Stripes', and they all contain lots of pngs and a couple of txt files

Don't worry about 'profile' folder, I believe it just saves the data of ghosts's coordinates on your screen in case you move them around

It might be a problem with a save file - just make sure you don't move 'aya5_variable.cfg' from the 'master' folder, because that's an actual file that contains all the save data.

❓Will you ever make more TMNT ghosts? Other brothers?

No. I have enough stuff I still wish to implement to Leo, and even if I made any other turtle, the overall experience wouldn't be much different. But don't let your dreams be dreams, you can always try and make your beloved turtle live on your desktop yourself! English Desktop Ghost devs community is so lovely, they're always happy to help both new and seasoned devs 💖✨

So, I'm back at playing DBH! And I'll have some rambling under the cut

Hello, friends!

I've heard the call (thank you Autia 🌹), and I decided to open my game after almost a year!

It was funny though, like if the planets aligned or something like that, because I saw the post and went like "hm, I guess I could open my game after work and take some screenies, that won't hurt, right?", so I downloaded some swapping mods (bc I wanted Kara in certain lights) and launched the game and took some actually very pretty screenies! And I had a good time, listening to my favorite band and taking a hundred of screenies.

Funny as it is, I received a notification on my phone of my favorite streamer dude starting DBH on that very same night, someone who isn't even known for playing games like that, and I watched him playing for hours, and it brought back so many feelings about this game! Now I remember how much I love it!

It hit me so hard that I even re-read my silly little fic, and it even made me think of coming back to writing! I'm not so sure if I will, but it is a nice feeling to have, that I actually want to do it.

Okay, now that I've taken that out of my chest, I need suggestions! And I'm talking to YOU, my dear mutual! My idea for my next screenshots of DBH is to focus on the women. Because WHAT IF Kara was the Android leader? WHAT IF all the Jericrew were all women? I'm thinking of Kara, North, and Chloe, but who should be the fourth one? Maybe Lucy? But her clothes don't blend in very nicely Maybe Alice? Would it make sense for a child to be in such a position? (plus, I have no idea how her animations are gonna play out) Maybe Ripple or Echo? They would fit well, actually Maybe even Luther! But to be the only men between them? (Also, I worry about his animations as well)

There should be more fanfics/fanart about Squall and Angelo's friendship

I was watching this walkthrough of Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, and among the Lost Chapters — specifically, The Ice Reaper chapters — more specifically, The Secrets of Silent Types chapter — there's a conversation between Rinoa, Eiko, and Trey about silent-type/taciturn/lonely characters and their love for animals.

Take a good look at what Rinoa says about Squall and her dog, Sant' Angelo di Roma:

"Squall and Angelo are like best friends."

In a relatively short amount of time (since, officially, it's never been established how much time passes during the main narrative of Final Fantasy VIII), Squall did become like best friends with his girlfriend's dog after all.

art journal: Neve

Keeping notes as I try to refine my digital artwork process. This is my first full colour piece this year with proper steps :)

I'm not a professional artist; whatever I've learnt is from books, online tutorials and lots of trial and error. (This is the start of my second year of drawing regularly as a hobbyist.) The general artwork steps are: Construction > Line art > Shading > Colour

1. Assemble the ref board: I'm drawing from this reference photo for the pose. My board has this along with screenshots of Neve and official face sculpts.

2. I start out by sketching on my Android tablet with the reference board open on a larger monitor.

The anatomy sketch helps me figure out where the torso and limbs go under the clothes. I find it helps to keep the arms/hands and head on separate layers so you can resize and scale them after you're done.

3. Draw the clothes over the sketched figure, taking into account how different materials hang off the frame. (The shoulders of the suit jacket are padded and the wool is stiff, in contrast to the dress shirt that wrinkles more easily. Her arms press against the drape of the sides.)

Not pictured: work up to a full values test then decide your lines are too messy.

Then I go over it all again on a new layer to get my lineart very neat.

4. Next, block out the clothes, skin and hair on different layers with flat colours. (Couldn't resist and did her nails too). On a clipping mask, I add shadows in a very desaturated purple. This is helpful for figuring out overall images values without colour first.

5. I move the file into Photoshop on my laptop, select and fill the colours for my flats and adjust the shadows.

Colour is a brand new topic I'm tackling in 2025, so I'm learning as I go, but here's an excellent tutorial I've been following.

I add additional post-processing by playing with the blending modes of different layers and parts. (This is the most fun part!) For example, I move all the finer detail lines (nose bridge, collarbones, hand joints etc) to a separate layer set to "Overlay" so the base colours can peek through.

6. For the layout, I decided to zoom in more on Neve and adjust how much of the canvas she takes up. I add a simple graphic element to the background, as well as green highlights and bounce light for interest.

Check the levels one last time and make adjustments as needed to avoid extreme areas of pure white and black.

Then she's done!

Total time: about 12 hours over 3 days.

-crobat is probably fast enough to avoid the attacks but theres no way for us to get a crobat that quickly

-drifloon and drifblim i CAN find easily. I just need to wait in the fieldlands until dark. Sky has a type advantage over them as flying types so if they attack me she can zap the fuck out of them

-i genuinely debate wandering off to go explore and do something more interesting like shiny hunt but i dont want to let the kids get straight up killed when im supposed to be watching them because im not sure i believe in the power of their pikachu and eevee to protect them from any actual threats here. Like an alpha

-now that im thinking about it we were definitely supposed to battle him at the town gate before coming out here. Well its probably fine

-volo says some obscure shit about the vortex and how interesting it is that i fell from the sky. I debate fucking with him in an uncountable number of ways but decide not to because i like him. I may change my mind in the future

-we do not battle volo because were about to fight kleavor and we need all the strength we can get for it. Im sad because i want to see togepi but i do not say this because it would be insane for me to just know what pokemon he has without being told

-ok everyone before we go on our quest to beat the shit out of a local demigod i have to go on an island quest. Ill be back in like an hour

So shellos it is. Also it would be kind of bullshit for me to just clear the first area with 3 fully evolved pokemon even if i am a grown ass man

-drifblim does everything in its power to draw the brunt of kleavors fire. It’ll fire off gusts to whip up dirt and do its weird teleportation bullshit so that kleavor cant hit it but will be frustrated enough to keep pursuing

-skylark, shellos and iridas glaceon will lay down support fire for drifblim in case kleavor loses interest or if kleavor knocks it out. If it stays irritated its less likely to notice me and irida

-irida and i will throw balms while the pokemon fight

-shellos says shes not sure she’ll be able to keep up with the fight since she moves so slowly. This is a good point

-she cant sit on skylarks back because shes not a ground type so her firing off electricity will hit shellos.

-drifblim cant take non-ghosts with him when he phases

-glaceon agrees to carry shellos. I am flooded with relief at the fact that i dont have to carry a slug on my head while doing all this shit

-i remember that irida might not know that i can understand pokemon . dont worry about it irida we can talk later

-i also remember the kleavor cheese strat and bring up the idea of ducking behind the tree if kleavor tries to go for us

-irida is unsure if kleavor will remember the importance of the giant tree in his rage, but he hasnt cut it down yet, so its possible he will avoid slicing straight through it to get to us and instead go around

-we will just have to hope so!

-lets pretend drifblim is lvl 25 here since we start with stronger pokemon so it has mystical fire which i think is neutral against kleavor bc of rock subtype

-fight scenes are hard come back and figure the details out later

-someone should get injured here because its a big fight and that will raise tension

-i think the security corps uniform is probably thick for warmth and extra defense so maybe i just get like a really bad scratch on an arm or shoulder but not enough to be a super big deal

-drifblim is knocked out during the battle by a stone axe sorry drifblim i love you

-shellos actually pulling its weight with water pulse and mud bomb

-skylark would know thunderbolt at lvl 25 which is awesome. I forgot that eeveelutions have abysmal move pools except for literally 1 move they can use reliably we’re gonna have to do something about that

-glaceon launches literally 1 ice beam and then realizes it is also so ungodly fucked if it gets hit by a rock move so it focuses on dodging while shellos launches water pulses

-irida and i truly get a lifetime amount of cardio in

-kleavor explodes with light and then hes back to normal yayyy yippeeeeeee
