Samsung has already shown such a concept Huawei is already actively eating away Samsung's share in the folding smartphone market, and next year it may even release a new type of such device before the Korean giant.  [caption id="attachment_80746" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Huawei[/caption] Huawei could beat Samsung and be the first to release a smartphone that folds in two places We are talking about a folding smartphone with two hinges, which will fold not in one place, like all current ones, but in two at once. According to TrendForce, the development of such a device in the bowels of Huawei is going well, and the smartphone could be launched as early as March 2024. A similar decision from Samsung is expected next year, but Huawei may be the first. Of course, given the sanctions, Huawei’s limited capabilities and focus on the domestic market, this will not be a problem for Samsung globally, but it will show the world that Huawei can beat its competitor in a market where the latter dominates.

For first buyers - discounts Huawei has quietly started selling an updated version of the MateBook D 14 SE laptop. Unlike last year's update based on Intel Alder Lake processors, the 2023 version has changes that are noticeable at first glance. [caption id="attachment_76154" align="aligncenter" width="750"] Huawei[/caption] Huawei has released a noticeably changed MateBook D 14 SE The updated Huawei MateBook D 14 SE has switched to a more modern screen with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The IPS panel is still 14 inches across but offers a peak brightness of 300 cd/m². Other changes under the hood include an Intel Raptor Lake processor (Core i5-13420H), twice the amount of RAM (16 GB LPDDR4X). The storage capacity remains the same - 512 GB, just as the battery has not changed - capacity 56 Wh. A couple more visual changes are a small protrusion at the top edge near the webcam, as well as a 3.5 mm jack that has moved to the opposite side. The new MateBook D 14 SE is available in China at a temporarily reduced price – from $574 to $547.

So far nothing is known about Kirin 830 Huawei may release another new Kirin platform. According to leaker Wisdom Pikachu, the Kirin 830 could be released by the end of the year.  [caption id="attachment_68057" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Huawei[/caption] The platform will become the heart of the Nova 12 line of smartphones. More precisely, at least the Nova 12 model, while the Nova 12 Pro will receive the Kirin 9000s.   From an image previously leaked online, you can find out that Nova 12 will also receive a 120 Hz screen, a 60-megapixel main camera, and a 4800 mAh battery with 88-watt charging.   Huawei can do even more. The company is preparing a new SoC Kirin 830 What the Kirin 830 will be like is still anyone's guess. You may recall that the last platform in the Kirin 800 line was the Kirin 820, released in 2020. It was produced using the 7 nm process technology and now scores about 500,000 points in AnTuTu 10, that is, the Kirin 830 should ideally be faster, but the same Kirin 9000s, as we know, is not particularly faster than its predecessor.   Wisdom Pikachu reported details about the Redmi K60 and Xiaomi Pad 6 last year and recently was the first to provide exclusive details about the new Redmi Note 13 and Xiaomi Civi 3 smartphones.

There are reports that Hamas leaders and militants have been using Huawei for the past 30 months Hamas' Operation Al-Aqsa Flood came as a surprise to Israel, some military sources said, acknowledging Israel's worst intelligence failure in decades. According to Albawaba, there is a version that Hamas leaders use Huawei smartphones, which provide a high level of security, preventing Israeli intelligence from hacking them. Amen Dean was one of the founders of Al-Qaeda (the organization is recognized as a terrorist organization, and its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation), and in 1998 he joined the Secret Intelligence Service and became a spy for MI6. He commented on the situation: “To everyone who asks how Israel, with its security and intelligence services, failed to detect Hamas's plans to carry out a daring invasion of Israel. Partial answer: Huawei. Yes, Hamas leaders and militants have been using Huawei phones, tablets, and laptops for the past 30-plus months.” Huawei devices may have been the reason Israel missed the Hamas attack [caption id="attachment_64775" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Huawei[/caption] User X, under the username DaiWW, added: “It appears that Hamas leaders used Huawei phones to prevent Western intelligence agencies from eavesdropping. Now it’s clear why the US hates Huawei so much. If you don't want to sacrifice your privacy to the CIA, buy a Huawei phone." Google and other US tech companies have banned the Chinese company from using their systems, forcing Huawei to develop its systems that are not easily hacked. It was previously reported that Russian operators are helping their subscribers in Israel. Tele2 reset calls and internet, and Beeline connected a special package.

The department may soon have such tools US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo expressed concern about Huawei's latest advances. In particular, the release of SoC Kirin 9000s. [caption id="attachment_64088" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Huawei's[/caption] Raimondo said the report that a Chinese firm has developed advanced chips is "incredibly alarming." She also notes that her department needs additional funds to ensure compliance with the export control regime. We need different tools. We need additional resources for enforcement. We're as tough as we need to be, but we need more resources. The US Commerce Secretary is incredibly alarmed by Huawei's achievements and wants more pressure tools However, Raimondo previously stated in the House of Representatives that she does not see any evidence that China can produce advanced 7-nanometer chips on a large scale. Let us recall that recently data appeared that the Kirin 9000s is allegedly produced according to 14 nm standards, but with a number of improvements. Interestingly, against the backdrop of these statements, the US Secretary of Commerce refused to comment on the progress of the Department’s investigation into the very SoC Kirin 9000s. Separately, Raimondo said she was proud of her department's recent fine against Seagate for trading with Huawei without the necessary permits. Let us remind you that the American Seagate was fined $300 million, and this is the largest fine in history for an American company imposed by the US Department of Commerce.

Semiconductor factories Huawei partially circumvents US sanctions with the support of Taiwanese companies. [caption id="attachment_62656" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Huawei[/caption] Bloomberg reported that some Taiwanese companies are helping the Chinese giant set up semiconductor factories across the region. The source calls it an "invisible" network of factories. Huawei is creating an “inconspicuous” network of factories throughout China Companies such as L&K Eng., and Cica-Huntek Chemical help Huawei. Technology, the Chinese division of United Integrated Services Co., and others. It's worth noting that TSMC doesn't appear to be involved in this. It is reported that the help of these companies was vital for Huawei in building the most advanced semiconductor factories in Taiwan. Huawei probably wants to do the same thing in China. What will be produced at these factories and using what technical processes is still unknown. Let us recall that there is a version that the Chinese SMIC has not actually mastered the 7 nm process technology for producing SoC Kirin 9000s, but has only improved the 14 nm one.

The company bought chips from Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Kioxia, and Micron As DigiTimes reports, Huawei needs imported memory because the products of Chinese manufacturers have not yet reached the required level. It was the memory chips of the Korean company SK Hynix in the latest smartphones of the Huawei Mate 60 series that raised questions among American regulators, who several years ago banned Huawei from receiving such products. According to DigiTimes, even after the imposition of sanctions in 2019–2020, Huawei Technologies did not stop receiving memory chips from foreign brands Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Kioxia, and even Micron Technology, which is headquartered in the United States, through other available channels. These products are included in Huawei smartphones and tablets released over the past three years. Huawei purchased imported memory to bypass sanctions due to the unsatisfactory quality [caption id="attachment_60366" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Huawei[/caption] In August 2020, US export controls went into effect, prohibiting any memory manufacturer using US technology from supplying their products to Huawei. Chinese memory manufacturers YMTC and CXMT complied with these requirements to avoid US sanctions. At the same time, Huawei itself preferred to purchase imported memory. Huawei continued to receive “prohibited” products from foreign memory manufacturers, both from old stocks accumulated before the sanctions came into force and through various indirect routes through third countries and many intermediaries.

The smartphone performed well The Huawei Mate 60 Pro smartphone boasts many features, but the first crash tests showed that it is also very durable. [caption id="attachment_56448" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Huawei Mate 60 Pro[/caption] The authors of the PBKreviews resource showed how the device can withstand falls, and even run over it by a car. Of course, it’s difficult to say anything without some clear comparison, but in general, it’s impossible to say for sure that the second-generation Kunlun glass, which Huawei used for its new flagship, is somehow too fragile Huawei Mate 60 Pro is thrown to the floor and run over by a car. https://youtu.be/Ok4WJ7NeWlI Of course, as always, in reality, it may happen that the smartphone falls from a very insignificant height and receives very serious damage, so one can only rely on such tests conditionally.

The company has improved its logistics Yesterday, September 10, the Huawei Mate 60 smartphone officially went on sale in China. Like its two big brothers, the Mate 60 Pro and Pro+, the standard version of the Mate 60 sold out almost immediately after it went on sale. Mydrivers notes that the first customers who placed pre-orders received their new smartphones on the same day. Huawei has done everything to significantly increase the speed of delivery of new smartphones. One buyer praised the company for this: “I received the phone in less than half a day after payment. Huawei has paid great attention to logistics." A second added: “Although I only recently [purchased] the Mate 50, I still bought the Mate 60, supported a domestic product.” Huawei Mate 60 was swept off the shelves immediately after the start of sales. [caption id="attachment_54511" align="aligncenter" width="604"] Huawei Mate 60[/caption] Compared to the Pro version, the standard version of Huawei Mate 60 received a 6.69-inch flat screen and lost the telephoto lens, and the satellite calling function was replaced by two-way messaging via satellite. Huawei Mate 60 is priced at about $830 in China, the smartphone has a 50-megapixel camera, a Kirin 9000S single-chip system, and full IP68 water protection. Some users who had already received the Huawei Mate 60 Pro rushed to check the satellite communication function on board the plane.

Communication on board was unstable The recently released flagship smartphone Huawei Mate 60 Pro is being discussed quite a lot on the Internet. This smartphone could be the beginning of Huawei's triumphant return to the leadership of the mobile market. Let's remember that Huawei Mate 60 Pro became the first smartphone to offer satellite calling. This allows you to make calls even in places where there is no coverage by cellular operators. Some users who had already received smartphones rushed to check the function, and they had already tested it on board an airplane. In response to this question, Huawei Terminal BG CTO Bruce Lee issued a message in which he stated: “Recently, some users have been using the Mate 60 Pro's satellite communication function to make calls and record videos during the flight of civil aircraft, which violates relevant regulations. flight safety. Users, please remember to turn on airplane mode while flying and follow various flight safety regulations." Huawei Mate 60 Pro satellite calls have already been tested on airplanes. [caption id="attachment_54507" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Huawei Mate 60 Pro[/caption] Videos published by some bloggers show that the signal can only be picked up near the window, but due to the small area and the fact that the plane is moving, the smartphone cannot maintain a stable connection with the satellite. China Telecom has taken the lead in launching a mobile phone-to-satellite direct connection service. Users in China can add satellite support to their existing mobile operator package.

And that's not Qualcomm's only problem. The Huawei Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro smartphones are known to be based on the Kirin 9000s SoC, which is manufactured by SMIC using the 7 nm process technology. And due to the return of Huawei to its platform, Qualcomm will suffer greatly. [caption id="attachment_53268" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Huawei[/caption] According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, next year new Huawei smartphones will use only Kirin platforms. Apparently, we are talking about all the devices of the Chinese company. To make it clear how important this is for Qualcomm, it must be said that in 2022 Huawei purchased 23–25 million Snapdragon single-chip systems from Qualcomm, and this year it will purchase a total of about 40–42 million. This is a very, very rather big share for Qualcomm. This is the opposite effect of sanctions against Huawei. As a result, it is expected that the supply of Qualcomm platforms for Chinese brands next year will fall relative to the current one by 50-60 million at least. The analyst believes that due to competition from Huawei, a number of other companies will reduce the volume of orders from Qualcomm. However, the latter is not going to be idle. Already at the end of this year, as expected, the company will start a price war, that is, it will reduce prices for its platforms. Yes, Qualcomm will lose profit because of this, but it may not lose market share in China so much. But it's not all bad news for Qualcomm. Kuo confirms recent rumors that the Exynos 2400 SoC will be used in Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphones more than previously thought. In addition, in 2025, Apple will finally have its own 5G modem, that is, the company will stop buying modems from Qualcomm.

Although Mate X3 is not available globally Huawei has long fallen out of the list of smartphone leaders, and given the US sanctions, it is unlikely to return there shortly. However, somehow Huawei has managed to beat everyone in at least one important market segment.  [caption id="attachment_53235" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Huawei[/caption] Huawei performed a miracle and somehow beat Samsung. According to analysts at Omdia, in the second quarter of this year, Huawei was able to overtake Samsung and become the market leader in foldable smartphones in the book form factor with a share of 32.9%. And all this thanks to the Mate X3 model, which, recall, is sold almost exclusively in China.   Yes, in the second quarter, Samsung also offered the Galaxy Z Fold4, which may have been weak in sales amid the expected release of the Fold5, but in any case, all Fold models are sold everywhere, while the Mate X3 is available primarily only in China.  Unfortunately, the source in the free report does not provide either the share of Samsung or sales data in quantitative terms.
