any fictional universe where there's lots of robots designed to look human-like that live intermingled in society and no other kinds of robots is so unrealistic. like there'd be a huge market for non-humanoid robot companions. do you know how many people would kill for furry bots? monster bots? creature bots? pet bots? robots that look like robots? there's no way they'd mass market robot companions and helpers and be like "let's only make human bots that's definitely what all humans want" what if they want a fucked up deer as a friend what then. what if they want optimus prime. or totoro

She, Connie
Masterlist
There is a ear popping roar the first time Grimlock saw you, brushing you off, away from him while trashing the town around, almost as you were an ant on his wake while you see at least two other bots, Decepticons you would later know, hanging from his tail to stop him, failing miserably, and a whole group of vehicles right behind, all of them shouting in bops and clicks and apparently trying to stop him.
The second time you met him was in the news, a giant robot tyrannosaurus rex trying to hunt a horse down while two purple jets were hot on his heels.
The third time, as some call the lucky or damned one, you found him, he was so damaged, fallen on the floor, looking at you and growling, no jets or cars or whatever around him.
You had the opportunity to turn on your step and get lost, let him there to his own luck, but you couldn't.
And that made you stay with him for days, a branch on your hand with the purpose to defend him and you, what wishful thinking, really, but you didn't know if some crazy scientist could get their hands on him, it wasn't never good when humans got a cybertronian to mess with and all the planet had to pay for some freak trying to play God.
You sometimes left him there to eat, to go at least to shower and return back, giving an exhausted look at him, how long was he going to be there? Could he even move? He at least consumed the meat you bought on the market, was he good enough with only that? You had no way of getting energon but he still took your meat without a problem before returning to his previous position.
He just stayed there, looking at you, he doesn't blink, you don't know if he can to begin with, he is just there and he roars a "No!" or something like that before you get knocked out, next thing you know you are found wrapped on a burrito of blankets slightly smeared by half processed energon and left in front of a police station.
What a story to tell.
It's the fourth time, just outside the building you are on, when you see him not before you heard him, people is crying out loud and shouting, there he is again, but now he is looking at you, he is fighting with another robot, a very big one, he has a tree on his mouth, and he sees you.
His eyes go big when he takes a deep breath, the tree falls from his mouth and he is looking at you with a pretty much funny face for a dinosaur robot, you could've laughed for the stupid sight but ended up screaming too when a literal train ran him over.
The fifth time he showed up in front of you, he looked better, even healthy if you could say so, and this time he has a piece of unknown meat on his mouth that falls ungraciously at your feet, then he changes (wait, he can change?) and you get a very tall humanoid in front of you that tells you "Now we even" with his hands on his hips before turning away to a space ship you didn't notice before in the park nearby.
Funny thing, the ship couldn't get on air even when they tried multiple times, then it did take a few meters from the surface just to collapse on a deserted area, all your neighborhood looks it happen.
It isn't wise but you go see anyway, halfway there you find him again in bot form.
The rest, is almost history, except for this.
"What are you doing?" His mouth and face are poking just above your abdomen, he is breathing, deep, even if he doesn't have a real need for it, you touch his big face, still amazed by how warm he is, his optics are off while he nuzzles against your body and he does an interesting sound.
You have heard Grimlock roar, say his name times enough to have it engraved on your mind in his peculiar way of talk, and even learned when a growl is for keeping you away or trying to attract your attention.
Now, Grimlock is doing this thing, like, vibrating from where his throat is, you don't know if he has a different name for that, it's a rumbling sound, his frame almost vibrating, then he kind of howls, hard, moving his head so hard in direction to the sky he almost makes you fall back.
It's autumn, and it's the first time Grimlock has ever rubbed the underside of his big jaw to any inch of you that he can, making special emphasis on your head.
"What has gotten into you?" You are nervous, Grimlock has never tried to eat you or anything, but his force and his sudden fear inducing attacks are something to be wary of.
But Grimlock keeps on rumbling, his big body pressed to you and the next moment you are being tossed around, it's not the first time he has you around or inside of him when he transforms, seeing metal move from one place to another, this time, for a change, you get to see a purple light between the wires, when he finishes you are next to his chassis, hands first to stop an impact, he keeps you there, looking at you with his visor, it's so curious how he can show so much emotions with it, he seems to have something to say, but doesn't say anything, he just puts you hand delicately as he can over his chest armor, he looks your hand there and then at you and he rumbles again.
Could this be part of his dinosaur behavior? Or him being an alien? There is no direct answer before he looks again at the sky of autumn, little sprouts of spring already popping around.
You don't see Grimlock for a day but your whole neighborhood hears him, he is doing a strange sound again and you hear the scandalized shouts of his cons companions, the next day he comes to you, he seems happy and people are coming to see in a distance the big dinobot is comfortable with before getting on you level and opening his mouth-
There is a baby, Grimlock has a purple baby on his dangerous and sharp teeth filled mouth that is sleeping so peacefully that makes this whole thing look surreal.
"She, Connie" he said without a problem, his glossa dangerously moving along the baby that woke up, the baby had red eyes that looked at your very soul.
Someone fainted, someone shouted, and someone said: "How did you knock up a fucking space dinosaur?!"
And, in all honesty, you don't know how, because he is an alien and maybe it did happen but you don't know how???

Robovie-M3 (AKA Robovie-M V3) by ATR and Vstone, Japan (2007). "Robovie-M V3 is currently the hottest Humanoid Robot on the market for true high-tech robot fans. It is designed with a strong and well-balanced body, made up of highly powerful servos, a Hitachi H8/3687 20MHz microcontroller board, and comes with 2 external gyro sensors, making it the hot-rod of modern robotics. This robot also comes with an onboard accelerometer (tilt sensor) that detects when the robot has fallen over, allowing him to stand up on his own after he has fallen either forward or backward. The accelerometer also works with the gyros to keep the robot balanced while in motion. … Unlike other humanoid robots, the Robovie-M V3 is capable of throwing objects, punching, somersaulting, doing handstands, running, side stepping, and playing soccer! Also, if you are a battle robot enthusiast, this is the robot you are looking for. There are no other robots that can stand up to the Robovie-M V3 in the soccer field, or in open combat." – RobotCombat.com

TFP and Alien Character Design
My introduction to the Transformers franchise were bayformers (accidentally) and Transformers: Prime (on purpose), and given their designs it took me a while to come around for the classic (and more marketable) boxy designs. I’d like to specifically take a moment to appreciate TFP, since I feel it sells the “alien robots” part the best.
I absolutely love how TFP’s artists have taken liberties and given each bot their own, distinctive look instead of sticking to a formula (aka a toy mould). I especially adore how, while clearly humanoid and analogous to us, they manage to look very alien.
Every bot has a humanoid form with a head, a torso, and four limbs, two legs and two hands to be precise. Predacons and Insecticons aside, there are many more subtle variations that make the bots look distinctly less human. One obvious point is the lack of noses on any of them, and I feel like it’s a bit controversial to say that’s a good choice. I appreciate it, because while it changes the profile only a little, it highlights that the bots don’t need a nose, not for breathing or for forming sounds. I know the “making sounds to talk” part is undermined by the fact that they have mouths that move to their speech, but I see that being more due to keeping them pleasant to watch, especially since “mouth doesn’t match the sounds” is generally understood more as poor or lazy animation rather than a decision on character design and storytelling. Also mouth or even eyes are not necessary for the bots, not for speaking or seeing. Both Soundwave and Shockwave have designs where their heads don’t (at least obviously) have mouths or eyes. Soundwave’s visor could hide a face, but we know for sure from Shockwave’s design that it’s not a certainity for their species. Soundwave’s design even calls to question the rule of four limbs, because we don’t know how his tentacles function: Are they limbs he was born with? Are they some sort of a device or a modification installed on his natural frame? Could they be extra arms instead of data cables? Could every bot theoretically have extra limbs installed?
Airachnid also has multiple limbs at her disposal, in her spider form. Interestingly, she seems to have two alt forms, the spider one and the helicopter, while her bot form also has two arms and two legs. However, she seems to be an outlier, considering that she has been “inspired” by other alien species on her galactic travels (her own words), and the reaction from other bots, for example Breakdown’s comment “the extra arms freak me out”. What Airachnid and Soundwave share is that their “extra limbs” are different from their arms and legs, which might mean that they are more like the wheels or wings of the alt forms other bots have.
Shockwave’s head is pretty obviously inspired by a security camera, which supports his uncanny, emotionless image. He has one eye and not much else, being an example of bots forming speech entirely with a device/organ, the voice box, in their throat (see also: Bumblebee’s mutism). In fact, Shockwave’s head is so small and strangely structured around the single eye that it makes me question if his CPU is somewhere else on his body. Once again, this opens possibilities to how Cybertronians function: The head doesn’t necessarily carry as much importance to them as it does to humans.
Various smaller details in the designs deserve a shoutout as well: The different shapes of hands and fingers, made of different materials and varying proportions. There are different kinds of eyes, and not varying only in colour, but also shape, size, quantity, and if they have a visible iris and pupil or not. The bot and vehicle modes are clearly linked, largely corresponding with the shape and weight of the vehicle mode, and parts of machienery visible.
Given all of the above, all sorts of mods and changes that would be either very difficult or impossible for human body, might not be so to Cybetronians. Their humanoid shape seems much more incidental when youconsider all the alien aspects worked into the designs and the story.

Coalition IAR-2 Abolisher Robot
Originally released on p. 35 of Rifts Sourcebook 1
Tumblr media
The Abolisher, Infantry Assault Robot (IAR-2), is another giant vehicle that is part of the Coalition States' military forces. Unlike the UAR-1 Enforcer, which is designed specifically to combat ground troops in an urban/city environment, the Abolisher is a frontline infantry unit with long-range capabilities and heavy firepower for obliterating enemy troops. The focus of its armaments is anti-robot and anti-tank, hence the six heavy cannons bristling around what appears to be the head. The rim of cannons has given the 30 foot (9 m) robot the nickname 'Thorn Head."
The heavily armored bot is a massive, humanoid shaped, all terrain assault vehicle designed to withstand heavy bombardment. However, in keeping with the frightening Death's Head motif, the Abolisher is designed to look like a massive skull with arms and legs. The two eyes are infra-red and conventional light searchlights for night assaults. The upper skull body can rotate 360 degrees and is operated by a five-man crew. Two soldiers are gunners operating three cannons each, the pilot and the copilot/communications engineer (either the pilot or copilot can fire the small, forward facing, dual laser turret) and the top hatch gunner, usually a SAMAS.
The big guns are devastating weapons that can blast an enemy from all sides simultaneously. The robot's arms and hands are powerful and lethal in hand to hand confrontations (can rotate 180 degrees at the shoulders). On top of the behemoth is a Gunner's Hatch which allows a SAMAS or soldier to perch himself on the head and fire at the enemy from the top of the robot. An inner hatch locks automatically, preventing the enemy from easy access should the top gunner be killed; the inner hatch can only be opened by one of the pilots.
The only real disadvantage to the 30 foot (9 m) giant is that its incredible weight and large size reduce its speed and maneuvering capabilities. Although great in the field as an outer perimeter defense or as an infantry assault unit (tank with arms and legs), its speed and size make it an easy target (hence the heavy armor). Unless one wishes to destroy a city, the bot is not well suited for city conflicts. Its weapons are too powerful for use in the city, able to demolish an S.D.C. skyscraper in mere moments, and its size and bulk makes maneuvering through narrow streets difficult. Still, it is excellent for city defense, being able to be placed wherever needed, and ideal for infantry combat.
IAR-2 Abolisher: Size 9 (Huge), Crew 5+2, Strength d12+10, Toughness 60 (36), Pace 14+d10 (70 MPH)
Notes: MDC Armor, Shoulder STS-Cluster -4 to hit and 24 Hardness.
Weapons:
6 x C-144 Auto-Cannons (Spaced 360 degrees around the crown of the bot; Range 100/200/400, 5d12+5 Mega Damage, AP 12, RoF 1)
Anti-Personnel Lasers (belly gun)

Describe what a titan is?
In short, they are giant zombies created from human experimentation. Their humanity died during the transformation. These monsters now dominate the earth as humanity’s only natural predators.
Their bodies are mutated and don’t always look human. They’re separated by classes based on appearance: Monster class, Humanoid class, Animal class, and Failed class.
A warning for people who are sensitive to eye contact, small amounts of blood, and disturbing imagery under cut (just in case!)
Tumblr media
They’re all pretty self-explanatory. The Monster class titans are pure nightmare fuel. They barely look human, if at all. The Humanoid class titans are basically the same, but they keep their human form, though badly mutated. Animal class titans are based on animals. Finally, the Failed class titans are any one of the previously mentioned titans but fucked up. These often lead to hilarious results for people with… an acquired taste of humor.
There are also Shifters! If humans always die, then how do they exist? Robots! Also called Synthetics, as in “synthetic lifeforms,” in this universe. They are built to withstand the matter being created from thin air. They’re easy to differentiate from other titans. For one, they’re built with a purpose. For example, they’re adequately armored if they are armored in the first place, their anatomy is proper, and they’re generally easier to look at and more marketable.
Tumblr media
Their blood is bright blue and slightly glows compared to the red blood of regular titans. A woman named Asaka Hayashi perfected the craft of shifters with the Security Breach line. It’s important to note that all Shifters are Synthetics, but not all Synthetics are Shifters.
