It fell on him, the obligation to continue the creation of destructive yet, obedient creatures. The ends justified the means, and if the means meant falling apart at the seams, then so be it. And so, his father’s puppets regularly fell apart without ever owning a dream. And he wondered, how could his father ever control their strings, when he too, had no control of his own? The boy’s heart never hardened while observing his father work but then...
Then he saw his uncle go. He saw him go, he saw him go, he saw him go, and the boy's gentle heart went cold.

@ottiliere I'm gonna do a nicer digital version of this later, I just REALLY needed to get this idea down.
I KNOW Texas doesn't give a shit about special needs. Equius is autistic and has trouble controlling his strength. Has a lot of problems at school.
Some kids were messing with Nepeta, so he beat them within an inch of their lives. Got committed for repeat violent outbursts, one resulting in a kid ending up in a coma.
Dirk thinks this guy is a trip and they end up getting along. They talk about horses a lot. Eq is uses to Nepeta whole roleplaying thing, so helping Dirk write his weird horse stories is decently familiar to him.
They absolutely do get into fights sometime bit Dirk enjoys pain and has a death wish, and Eq actually likes this but so he holds back as much as he can.
They're dorks and actually A Little bit of positive outlets.
Transcripts under the cut ✂️
(Photosensitive Equius)
(Dirk isn't wearing hair products. It's all cowlicks. Also his neck is at the scabbing stage, so he keeps scratching it.)
CT: You should stop scratching that. (Hard nudge, menacing aura)
TT: You some kind of new orderly? (A little anxious)
CT: I'm 16. So no.
TT: (under his breath) Coulda fooled me.
TT: What are you in for? (Trying really hard to be nice like he learned in group last week. Panik.)
TT: (again under his breath) This guy is like twice my size, how are we the same age?
CT: Unruly at school. Got into a big fight. Messed up three kids, one ended up in a coma.
TT: Well shit. (A little impressed)
CT: My "retard strength" was "getting out of hand". (Talked too much, feels like he made it awkward.)
TT: Your What. (Trying really hard not to laugh)
CT: That is apparently the clinical term. (Feeling really awkward now.)
TT: YEAH?! (This is great. He's having fun. He can't wait to write his friends about this.)
