you were never a morning person. neuvillette, on the other hand, is the opposite.
a hand went through your hair as you slept. "don't you think that it's time to wake up, love?" he said. you grumbled, turning away from him. "it's not morning yet…" he chuckled, his morning voice visibly there. "the sun that shines behind the curtains says otherwise."
you didn't want to get up yet. just as you were going to poke another reason at neuvillette, you heard something quite embarrassing that made you wake up a bit. “i heard you talking in your sleep,” he mentioned.
“oh? what was i saying?” you replied, making yourself comfortable in his arms that were now wrapped around you. “something i couldn't understand, that’s for sure.” you lightly laughed at his response.
both of you wished you could stay like this, just resting with each other and the sun shining brighter than ever. you wished that tomorrow morning would be like this again, and the morning after that—it would be a selfish request, really. with neuvillette and his job, you doubt you could get moments like these again after a while.
“is there something on your mind, love?” he asked, noticing how you suddenly went silent.
it’s okay to be selfish just this once (even if you've been selfish quite a few times already), it always has been. “it's nothing. good morning, neuvillette.” you reassured him.
you were never a morning person. yet for some reason, the sun seems to shine brighter when you’re with him.

Replaying Tgaa, there really are a whole bunch of moment where I get the impression that van zieks is trying to help out.
Not in like. A nice way. He's being a real dick about it. But in 1-3 and now in 1-4 I really get the impression that he figures out the truth before us, and then try to. Passive-agressively nudge us towards it as well as he can while still opposing us diligently.
That's a GOOD ASS angle for a prosecutor. This man HATES US, but he cares about the truth more than he cares about how much he wish we weren't here lmao.
