hi jade ^^ this might be a little weird and feel free to not answer but i was wondering if you have any advice against feeling lonely and blue? i recently moved in my new flat for my last year of uni and since im living by myself, im finding im overthinking a lot since i have a lot of free time and not many friends as im not very approachable despite trying - ive been reading your fics in the meantime to stave off this feeling and theyre providing me sm comfort, your sad loser readers always feel so fitting so thank you for sharing them w us!!

Well sometimes gorgeous I don't think there is a way to escape that feeling! Which sucks, but I hope you aren't too hard on yourself, you know! I think that loneliness can be just like hunger where you need to eat or you need to spend time with others to make it go away, and sometimes you can't and that's not your fault! When I'm feeling lonely and blue I try to spend some time chatting to a friend or my sisters but I know that's not always possible either, so there's other stuff! It's good to have a hobby, something intricate that you can be proud of, like I think having a craft you can gain skill in can be really good for you, but there's definitely other things to occupy you if that's not your thing, like for example card collecting or jigsaws and stuff like that.

I'm a huge overthinker I make myself sick worrying about stuff, and jigsaws genuinely saved me a few months ago! It's hard to think about anything else when you're doing a puzzle. There are even puzzles you can get that are 3D, but for free you can do them on your phone. It's super low pressure because you can't make too many mistakes but not repetitive enough to let you think about other things too much. There's also bracelet making, cross stitch, alpha bracelet/key chain making, these are all things that you have to pay attention or you'll mess up, so it stops you from overthinking about other things.

If you're blue I'm a big believer of treating yourself exactly how you'd treat a friend, a partner, or a loved one. It's easy to blame your loneliness on yourself. Maybe if you were more approachable, you'd have more friends, you'd feel less lonely —but being approachable isn't something you have complete control over, imo. Obviously there are things you can do to be friendly, but there's no shame at all in being introverted or finding it hard to connect with people, it just isn't as easy for some as it is for others. And sometimes making friends can STILL leave you lonely, which is basically my big long way of saying that I hope you're being nice to yourself about how you're feeling. And what I'm about to say is stolen from a friend, but sometimes you need to take care of yourself to feel better, like making sure you're eating well, sleeping if you can. Also! This might sound silly but I read a graphic novel /manga called My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness and something she did to feel better was again to take care of herself, like making sure none of her underwear had holes, and to stay clean and well presented. I'm not sure if that's good advice because maybe you can't afford to buy new underwear or maybe you have all the clothes you need, but when I started to do that and to look after myself with small steps, it did make me feel better. I worry that shame and loneliness are hand in hand (like, I'm lonely because I deserve to be) because they feed into each other, so definitely take care of yourself if you can!

There's also silly stuff you can do to immediately feel better, like getting up for stretches, a loud burst of karaoke, chocolate. Sometimes I feel better by watching a movie I loved when I was a kid, or reading bits of old books. I also think there's no shame in doing 'lame' stuff like pretending you're in a YouTube video or experimenting with stupid stuff you've never done before, like Bob Ross tutorials and baking and all that stuff. I think sometimes I feel lonely because I feel as though I'm bad company to myself, so if you can manage to be kind to yourself and keep an open mind, you'll feel better sometimes!

Sometimes though it's literally impossible to not feel blue and lonely, and if you feel like for days at a time you can't shake that feeling I would genuinely suggest getting help and reaching out. There's a crisis text line in the UK called SHOUT, and if you can wait the long waiting times in the evenings, they're a good listening ear! I've spoken to people a few times that way when I felt like my anxiety was going to eat me alive/ was too overwhelming to do anything, and it really, actually made me feel better. It's confidential and free !! If you Google SHOUT their website and phone number comes up.

Cuddles: special interest is music! particularly rock but just about anything. his hyperfixations include any and every type of sport, both casual and extreme

Giggles: special interest is all things romance related! movies, literature, etc.!

Toothy: film/theatre special interest! any and every genre and type! if you can name it, hes probably watched it and WILL tell you all there is to know about it. also possible Splendid/comic book hyperfixation

Lumpy: IT IS VERY HARD TO KEEP TRACK OF HIS HYPERFIXATIONS he has so many of them

Petunia: Victorian flower language and botany special interest! maybe a hyperfixation on the Victorian era as a whole

Handy: Construction! He LOVES building and fixing stuff and that is his special interest. He's also seen bowling in some episodes and that may be a hyperfixation methinks

Nutty: CANDY AND SWEETS AND BRIGHT COLORS AND ALL THAT STUFF!!!!!! the candy and sweets are basically a majority of his character and i am so very convinced that thats his special interest

Sniffles: totally projecting with all but two of these but his special interest is definitely death science and forensic chemistry and pathology. major hyperfixation on Splendid and entomology and maybe a slight Sparklecare hyperfixation. little extra but i think hes semiverbal

Pop: old fashioned cars. dont ask me where im getting this from because i dont know either

Cub: kinda hard to tell with Cub but i think it would also be cars. the automobile tism runs in the family /silly

I really get a frick-ton of enjoyment out of old games, and I don't know why. A lot of them are so stupid and silly - and incredibly frustrating to boot - but yet I can't seem to hate them.

The first one that comes to mind that has a special place in my heart is Oregon Trail II. Not the text-based one, but the one with a lot of visuals and sound effects and it's very old-timey, not just in the fact it takes place in the oooooold USA, but in the graphics compared to modern-day games as well.

That game is so stupid. And yet it's so genius at the same time. It's infuriating how you can just die for seemingly no reason - that if you hunt animals you are very likely to accidentally shoot yourself - that you can spend so long trying to be as careful as possible on a run all for you to just die suddenly because the RNG decided it.

I still love playing it. The entire experience of it, really. But if we were only taking the player's experience into account and nothing else, it really is a shit game. You will have a miserable time for at least a few minutes out of any run, I guarantee it, and it will likely be a lot LONGER than a few minutes too.

But that's completely by design. The educational aspect of the game is subtle enough to where it doesn't FEEL like it's in your face, but every facet of the experience down to the emotions you experience while you play are, in themselves, teaching you something about what it was like back then. Of course, grumbling at silly migration video game is not nearly as bad as it was actually dying of cholera, starvation, or hypothermia, but it's about as close as the game can legally get to putting you into that experience.

There is something so perfect about Oregon Trail II and yet not a lot of people talk about it, I feel like. It's an exceedingly old game that most systems can't play without an emulator, so I suppose it makes sense. But I, being born in 2002, played it when I was in school, and to me that's also crazy. Oregon Trail II came out in 1995 and I was playing it in, at the EARLIEST, 2007, but it was more likely to be 2008 or 2009. Maybe all three years, actually. I remember loving the game even though I didn't understand what was happening and never actually got to the expedition part. I just liked buying up all the bacon, and the aesthetics of the game.

It's not just Oregon Trail II I like despite being so old, either. I like atari games in general, although many of them are hard for me to figure out. The Nintendo Switch Online thingies have a lot of old/older/oldish games to play and i like exploring those lists and just opening games i know nothing about and trying to figure them out. One of the games I did this with was called Burger Time and it was so hard for me to figure out (because i am stupid) that I had to look up a guide for it... a guide for fuckin BURGER TIME bro.

anyway, when i have my own house i think i will collect a lot of old games and play them. and probably write about them. get ready

i tried playing psycho dream, i think it was named, on the switch emulator. it was pretty boring. the title screen looked neat though.

i unno about burger time specifically, but older games tend to lack tutorials and stuff, so its prolly normal to look up guides. it might be less authentic to the old games experience though, if theyre from before big internet. i dont think its worth the suffering of trial and error personally, when u can just google it, but its possible that that's fun for some people.

i do like some arcade games a lot, if that counts for this topic. like, the aesthetic of them is real cool. the music's also real cool. i like galaga and the ones like it in particular, but im not very good at them. i also really like dig dug, or maybe it was dig dug 2 that i liked. the green creatures are real cool.

i also like tetris, especially some of the music. i watched a couple youtube videos of a puyo puyo-tetris player that were real cool. i also tried playing a puyo puyo game on the switch emulator i think, but it seemed like it'd be too difficult for me. something about setting up color patterns for chains later is...incomprehensible. maybe theres a secret pattern to it or something.

i have disliked tetris for a majority of my life, as a result of my "hating mainstream things" arc; that's a wall im slowly trying to break though. what *I* liked from back in the day was the pokemon puzzle league, which was i think the equivalent to tetris nostalgia that others play. puzzle league is also on the nintendo switch online - and it might be the nostalgia talking, but thats good shit. anyway, i think i would enjoy the original tetris if i played it. i've played tetris clones and enjoyed them but i dont enjoy them as much as i think others do. i think some other puzzle types are more enjoyable to me.

i dont kno what puyo puyo is adandans and i also dont know what galaga is but i have DEFINITELY heard the word galaga before

i might try psycho dream if i can find it, mostly out of curiosity. i think a lot of things u think are boring are things i find fun sahdasndna

i am glad you mentioned that its just a thing where old games lacked tutorials; i thought i must be crazy, because every game from that era i've tried, they just... start.

like for one example stepdad got a gift one year from me and my mom that was an atari console with like a "150 built in games" type thing or something? I know ones exist where it apparently has like 2600 games and they're like $300-400. i could really spend hundreds of hours just exploring those worlds. like, if i had the money to do so i would definitely buy one of those if they ACTUALLY had 2600 fricken games in there.

but the fact you just get thrown into it without instructions can, for the most part, stress me out. like it makes me feel a bit stupid that i can't understand what's happening, because i just imagine some 6 year old in the 80s laughing at me for not being able to get it even though i'm 21. and, obviously, it isnt that i "can't understand" or "CANT get" the games, because i enjoy them actively. it's just me needing instructions. maybe its autism related? or just me being a lil dummy

anyway to continue my previous thought im glad u brought it up because i didnt want to do the "walk of shame" to the google search bar to type 'why cant i understand how old game do :(((((((((('

something i really like abt the 17776 satellites is that their personalities actually kind of align from the era they were created.

9 is confused and a little sad, but still learning to adjust to all the new people and despite always being potrayed as young 9 is older than 10. so it's like 10 is guiding their old grandparent around more than anything. even so, 9 is willing to adjust to the change (maybe because the pioneer 9 was launched near the start of a new decade, new era sort of thing) and actively likes to learn more about the new world theyve been thrust into similarly to 10

10's sort of a learned but still mannered (as much as she can be) person who, despite knowing Discoveries are a hope long gone now, still holds onto the ideals of knowledge and science and things that just make sense shown kind of through her psychoanalysises and willingness (and even desire) to answer all of 9's questions

juice is definitely the more Modern of the group being launched in 2022- actually after 17776 first released! possible we'll get new when juice in the REAL world gets launched. anyway, juice texts very informally and laidback with a lot of interest in goofy shit. even so he has the same sort of interest in humanity as the others, just in different areas like their more simple or silly histories like lunchables or Stepping on rakes and getting hit on the head by the stick part of it and then making fun of said people via text message. he's just a silly guy really, as are most people on the internet in 2022

bonus: i did listen to BoC the entire time i read it Specifically the half awake mix by Gabriel O. so now i associate the band with the series... i mean, music inspired by radio transmissions for a series about satellites which communicate through radio waves... probably not intended whatsoever but possibly why music plays during the videos alongside voice clips

in keeping w my trend of being terrible at naming things creatively BUT in a surprise twist contrary to me usually using my real first name for everything: they are called Puppy :)

there's no like story lore but imo they have a fun history and you get to see my old old art lol

Ive had them for 10,000 years (since 2014) and theyve gone thru some cool phases

originally it was just like "yeah this is me but a dog" and here we see the first inklings of me getting tired of my long hair I had for 21 years

I was a big fan of The Sky in high school and I would take lots of pics of sunrises omw to school so I worked that into Puppy's design by colorpicking from those photos. I did cloudy days as well it was really neat tbh and prrroooobably taught me some color theory!!!

THEN. I did apply the fairy thing even way back when bc well fairies have always kinda been My Thing

but it always just looked very silly WHICH I LOVE BEING SILLY but i never TRULY embraced it....I kinda wanted to be cool and anime back then but thats never been my style.

There was also a weirdly Queen Nothing adjacent voidy ventsona Puppy moment but I don't really wanna repost those. Theyre not graphic (less so than qn even tbh) its just no fun to me.

then theres a bunch of untagged years of me just doodling puppy occassionally, mostly without the sky motif and sometimes as a fairy.

Then muuuuch more recently I did a really groundbreaking Puppy redesign. Some really game changing stuff. Now you might not even recognize them after this. But just try to keep an open mind

I did add jorts to the dog.

They gradually and.....apparently offscreen and uncatalogued became Full Jeans Pants cause I dont really OWN any jorts? I own 1 pair of minijorts but I kind of hate them and dont wear them. But I wear jeans pretty much every day. So here we are

danny phantom, season 3, episodes 7-13 thoughts! cannot believe im finishing this series so fast. ...cannot believe it ended like that...uh. one of the weirdest finales to a show I think I've seen, it really stood out against the rest of the series, and not in a good way, in my opinion. I paused to yell in caps lock...several times, I think, out of anger... BUT. ANYWAY, HERE WE GO.

-the fentons putting the kids to Work in the lab, with NO SAFETY GEAR. AT ALL. THEY JUST GOT BACK FROM SCHOOL AND ARE TIRED!!! and when jack asked how danny his day was and danny tried to say it was bad jack cut him off :( for the 400th time, i am stealing these kids.

-maddie and jack IMMEDIATELY SELLING THEIR LAB AND WORK FOR A LOT OF MONEY. and danny cant get into the portal anymore, oh no!!! he could always just steal vlads I Guess.

-THEY ARE VLADS NEW NEIGHBOR. OH MY GOD. this is a sitcom format. a butler came with the new mansion. i would absolutely try a kiwi fudge milkshake, why is the butler disgusted.

-WULF WANTED POSTER!!! we havent seen wulfy in so long :( very funny the box ghost is offended by how much these ghosts are wanted for. first off, what do ghosts even DO WITH MONEY. does the ghost zone have its own currency??? what are ghosts BUYING

-the 'sleepwalkers' designs were super cute in shape (kinda remind me of oogie boogie! pillow-cased shaped, which is appropriate for the 'king of dreams's minions) until I looked closer at their eyes. why do they look sewn shut!! (they open their eyes a few times, so they aren't, but they look like it...)

-I like how this show has been pretty consistent (with a few exceptions) about a Ghost Being Huge (or getting larger) = Very Powerful

-2 months of summer camping??? wtf, do camping things usually take that long?? I've never been to a camping...thing like that. but isnt that basically their entire summer??

-'the entirety of nature is your bathroom!' and thats why I do no camping despite loving nature LMAO.

OKAY?? obv he /does/ want power (usually over certain ppl, tho), but seeing him try to get it like this FELT WEIRD SOMEHOW. weird like the ep where he tried and failed to take over various historical civilizations, because like,, how is that realistically going to do anything for him?? just, being in that time forever and never seeing maddie aka Goal #1 again?? HELLO??? this was like that, but worse

-this was such a weird ending to an entire show. why did season 3 only have 13 episodes?? why did it feel so weirdly paced?? WHY WAS THE ENDING LIKE THAT. I think. I am going to pretend I did not see that. fucked up, dudes. I'm like...hm. I shouldn't have watched that because now I'm mad. valerie sweetie im SO sorry you shouldve been more present. it felt like..if they knew this season was going to be short, and the last season, they should've spent more time wrapping up EVERYONE'S plot lines for the entire season. imagine how cool it wouldve been if every single ep of season 3 was working towards something, a big, nice wrap up at the end, with nothing feeling TOO rushed because they'd been heading towards the End for the whole season....

I will probably end up writing a follow up full series thoughts post. In a couple of days so I can sit with my thoughts. BUT. overall, I really liked the show! (ignoring the finale and some of the moments that aged pretty poorly...) it was charming and a fun concept and very fun to watch in general :) and I am pretending the finale didnt happen <3 and I’m gonna dive RIGHT into the dp tags and mix fanart and posts in my queue, very excited to run and look at that 🏃🏻 (and, of course, make more fanart myself hehe >:3)

ok let's do all of them!! but also anyone can dress as whichever character they like u dont need to look like them!

Patton:

polo shirts, khakis, socks and sandals, CROCS, those big knee socks that golf dads wear, fanny pack for vee's pacis and wet wipes

pastel/muted colours, cant pair colours well at all - sometimes roman is so upset by his outfit choices that he lays clothes out for patton if he is up early

patton cares the LEAST about fashion, he just wants to be comfy and be able to look after his boys without clothes getting in the way

Logan:

Smart shirts, likes knitted cardigans (big pockets are a plus), dress shoes, very clean ironed slacks

only wears a tie when he is working! they tend to be plain but for holidays and birthdays everyone gets him patterned ones and he loves them and wears them more and more - also roman gets him matching patterned socks which logan wears too!! theyre hidden by his shoes and trousers most of the time but sometimes you'll see them peek out

darker colours, but will be happy to wear very bright colours and silly patterns on tie and socks

Roman:

Think gay thift shop tik toker fashion - lots of vintage graphic print, lots of colour, very high fashion for the present day

turtle neck tops, 80s style bowling shirts, high waisted jeans, chunky belt and RINGS - he ALWAYS wears a bunch of funky jewelled rings, he likes fiddling with them and also he thinks his hands look hot lol - manicured to perfection, nail art if its a special occasion ir he got bored

he wears mascara and concealer everyday and occasionally lipstick - he doesnt like tattoos or piercings because he doesnt like the permanency!

jewel tones, rainbow, bright bright BRIGHT - the most concerned with fashion especially queer fashion trends

Virgil:

You already know - lots of deep purple lots of black, inspired by goth and emo but too shy to go all in. for sensory comfort his clothes are quite basic, dark cotton tshirts and black ripped jeans with fishnets, frayed sleeves because he chews and pulls them, tartan, chains if he wants to style it up

he also has a septum piercing and multiple ear piercings! i like to imagine his makeup as more stylised, so smokey purple eyeshadow and black eyeliner, mascara

HE HIDES HIS ALBINO BROWS AND LASHES behind dark makeup! But he doesnt hide his freckles so much anymore now that he's comfy with the light sides - black nail varnish ALWAYS, sometimes lets roman do cool nail art too

black with dark blues and purples but thats it for big virgil! he doesnt like unfamiliar colours

eventually he will be confident enough to wear more feminine clothes when he's big - sheer black lace dress over the top of pants and tshirt, blue and purple tartan skirt with fishnets, that kind of vibe

Remus:

honestly what wouldnt he wear

he puts as much effort into his outfits as roman does but in the opposit direction, he wants to look as unsavoury and unapproachable as possible

leather pants that are too tight, practically see-through shirts (sheer fabric) to show off his nipple piercings and dozens of stick n poke tattoos, wears a necklace with vials of blood - he says they are all from different people but no one wants to ask how he got them

he has ear tunnels and wants to stretch them enough to fit his fist through. a lot of creepy jewelry - eg earrings made of real teeth, old doll parts, etc

genuinely anything that disturbs you he would wear

if anyone cosplayed him i would be impressed but also it might not be safe for this blog shshjsdj

I hope you’re enjoying the original so far!!! I’ve been THRIVING seeing folks 1. dive into the whole ffvii experience because of the remake and 2. FINALLY recognize how real and strong and good aerti is. i’ve waited so long..... it’s a great time to be a ffvii fan ��

i enjoyed the remake a lot more than i thought i would despite being a newcomer to ffvii and the game disappointingly not being very friendly to newcomers, and i’m really excited to see where theyre taking it. i stayed away from playing the original for yeeeaaars because those old 3d games just kick my ass (and ive gotten used to it a little, but geez the biggest problem i have with them is the lack of depth perception and being unable to tell where entrances/exits and climbable/traversable objects are supposed to be. i got more lost trying to get through the collapsed expressway in the og than the remake because of this lmao.) i dont think it was a bad choice to start playing, its pretty fun so far despite its graphical flaws. i love how silly it gets although in the original it feels more jarring somehow???

im in my feelings about aerti i barely know anything about either of them but one of the reasons im excited for the next part is because i wanna see them interact more!!! theyre so sweet and their personalities mesh so nicely. and i absolutely love the extra details about them they were able to add that just makes them feel more real, like tifa being kind of afraid of ghosts (and hides behind aerith in the train graveyard, you know im always thinking about it.) guess i’ll obsess about them until i die
