When Robin was first introduced, she had been working with Crocodile in Alabasta for the past several years, so I could understand her skin tone being a little lighter than it used to be, but not this bad.

It's extremely fucked up. I would understand the "it was an animation error" argument if it wasn't because it happens with all the characters (not only Robin) and they're whiter and whiter each episode (even the characters that should be black).

If we follow irl reasoning as you say, then all of them should be tanned because they're pirates. They're constantly under the sun. But no, they go backward and instead, they lack melanin every episode. It was already bad, but Egghead fucked up big time.

And don't get me started on Usopp because people could use that excuse on any other character, but Usopp?? I truly, really, don't think it takes too much thinking to get that he's black and Toei just keeps making him paler than Sanji. It's ridiculous and racist and people who ignore it or say it's been talked "too much" (because people say it and apparently there's a limit for them as to how much you can complain about racism) always get on my nerves.

What Toei is doing is just disgusting and people defending it are always the ones who refuse to see any mistakes in the things they like. News flash! You can like something and admit it has mistakes.

when are we gonna get any good rtc fanworks where NONE of the characters are dating. i want to explore the characters friendships. i want to have deeper conversations about their interests and issues. i want to talk about penny and ezra's antics. i want to talk about how karnak became what he is. there is just so much more there that a big portion of the fandom isnt exploring because theyre so focused on making two guys kiss

What do you mean by mbj is "Cucumber-bro on steroids"? There's no canon evidence he's based on him.

It's true there is no canon to support this in as many words, but the fandom has noticed that, from Airplane's point of view, Peerless Cucumber as a cold hater and Mobei as a cold (literally and figuratively) sort of boss, both kind of mirror each other. They're both a cold, unnataible, socially superior person who would never look his way but might condescend to have use for him (I am aware he is not actually okay with this dynamic and makes his sentiments on the matter clear in the extras, but he does like Mobei-jun even before that, and he does still enjoy Shen Qingqiu's company even though the later is very much also treating him quite badly).

I have no horse in this race, I just think it's a compelling analysis, and an interesting way to look at the text. There is in-depth and fascinating meta about Airplane's choices in PIDW and his original outline, and the way Luo Binghe mirrors him, and it's both funnier and more tragic to see things from this angle, so that's what I'm choising to read things as, and what I'm referring to.

To be more precise: Mobei-jun probably wasn't based on Cucumber-bro, but Airplane does seem to have a type.

Hey, sorry for such a lack of inactivity but I graduated (still waiting on the actual ceremony tho ‘cause my university likes to make even their graduates suffer just a bit longer). Been busy with cleaning out a lot of old crap, finding a job with my newly acquired degree, and adulting the best I can. College did a number on my mental health and creativity so been struggling with writing.

Also, don’t know if it’s just due to my own lack of activity, but not a whole lot of fans have been interactive with my blog and fics anyways. I have been working on one of my many fic drafts recently and hope to finish it soon so maybe that’ll pick-up steam once more idk. I’m starting to wonder if I got shadow banned again and just haven’t noticed? Some of my fics don’t seem to be showing up in the search tags apparently?

May end up having to reevaluate my entire blog and comb through all my drafts, decide if I still want to write and finish some. I wrote a lot of snippets during my last semester with ideas that never seemed to go anywhere so maybe might reconsider some of those too.

Might also decide to finish up my TWST fics and then move onto other fandoms or start working on fics catering more to the teratophilia fandom since that was my original goal when starting this blog (if it wasn’t obvious what with all my Octatrio and non-human Reader fics). I honestly don’t know as of typing this up but just wanted to let everyone know I am still alive and writing, just busy with life and personal health junk.

Colin canonically adores Pen. like. . .very obviously. He is one of very few characters who repeatedly compliments her, seeks out her company, checks in on how she is feeling, cares about her opinion. he listens to her in a way i can honestly say no other character does (and yes, I am counting Eloise in this). and Penelope canonically adores Colin. she ALSO listens to him, she also always wants to talk to him and cares about his thoughts and dreams like he does hers

so. . .someone please make it make sense why the polin fandom so badly wants Colin to grovel for her forgiveness when he has spent 2 entire seasons caring about Pen on main w/ full blown heart eyes and Penelope has spent 2 entire seasons seeing the very best in him and lighting up from within every time they're around each other?

what kind of vindictive, mean fanon nonsense Penelope have we created that would see a person who she cares for and who cares for her in turn begging her for ANYTHING and want that? especially when she is currently very much lying to him and will also have to, at one point or another, apologize?

polin is a mirror. that is their motif. that is the point of their romance, to see each other and to be seen, to reflect one another. i don't want to see Colin begging and I don't want to see Penelope begging but I, personally, am begging that we finally let this trope die

man. i cannot emphasize enough how nice it is to have female characters who are actually developed and treated with significance.

it means so much to me that yeah, we're missing a lot of info about susie and noelle right now, but that's because we don't have the complete game--everything about the way the story is structured promises that we will learn more about them, that the reason there are gaps in their backstories is that that info is vital to the story going forward. there's an implicit promise that their hopes and dreams and sorrows and joys will affect things just as much as everyone else's.

in so many stories, we would be missing characterization just because the writers didn't care. it is so refreshing to like. be able to be invested in a female character without having to work for it.

You don't know how much I can Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint code Enstars because I could. Because you have a set up where you are basically taking the place of Anzu--a person created simply to be the reader's/player's self-insert. Because the characters all exist to love Anzu while they're going through their own arcs. Because Anzu also exists to love and support the characters by the game's own coding. She is their world and their hope, and the enstars characters are her idols (and I don't just mean that as singers and dancers).

But slowly, I've seen posts and even small summaries of how Anzu starts becoming her own person, small ways apart from the characters. Yes, she's still quiet. Yes, she is almost always a Viewer. Except for the fact that this is a game story, not just a book or novel story. And games are meant to be played...not by the characters but by someone who is watching them but has not created them.

This is how Anzu has more power than a normal reader. This is also how she has less power than a normal reader. The game allows her to exercise power over the characters' lives that a normal reader of a book cannot--she can help along Trickstar, be the behind the scenes producer for a number of the idol groups in the school, doing something to make them shine. But she is always a puppet, controlled by the player. She has a silly personality with a questionable naming sense and determination and hard-headedness to boot...her preferences for the units and who she builds up are always changing according to the player. Her only goal is to make sure her idols shine (what more does a reader want than to see their characters shine?), yet the goal of the Enstars characters is to adore Anzu and make people like her who support them happy (where would the characters be without a reader?)

Like the Oldest Dream, she is the most powerful and weakest god of all. A puppet steered by the fantasies of many, many individuals yet always loved by the characters for "herself."
