Taking the opportunity to share a goth music mix I started because I'm going out more and I've been enjoying being able to sway and dance to dark tunes !

a handful of misc veilguard things I enjoy:

• the locations! it's nice to see so many new places in thedas, and they're all beautifully designed with so many little things to find (on my very slow replay i am taking more time to look at the little things and there's so many lovely--and sometimes silly--little set pieces.)

• the characters! not just the companions, of whom i all adore tbh, there's so many memorable and fun npcs floating about too. and the representatives of all the factions are all a delight.

• being able to be meaningfully trans and there being trans npc's and it's all just no big deal? you really do get some lovely interactions as a trans rook if you so choose to, and I think it's very needed in these difficult times. the things my rook could say to taash with regards to his and their gender journey's did kinda make me tear up :')

• faction reactivity! now granted I've only played mourn watch so far but I've seen some of the unique dialogue from the others here and there too, but i love all the mw specific dialogue and interactions I got, and I love how it really does make each rook have a different flavour? my guy is such a weird fella and I love it hahaha

• a technical thing I like too is things like resuming banter when it gets interrupted? genuinely a game changer tbh.

• animation? I guess that's technical, but there's some truly lovely animation in cutscenes for this game, the micro-expressions etc? good shit 🤌 and the cinematography in general for big quests? weisshaupt you will always be famous to me.

• the ambient npc banter in places? if you slow down and listen to it there's so many gems, and I love that companions sometimes chat to random npcs too?

• solas :) he is such a little bastard (affectionate) and the solavellan ending... the sad wet little 'vhenan....'? beautiful. no notes. (and also i loved delving into his memories and the like! and also... worm.)

I'm sure I could ramble a lot more tbh, but this is already an essay my god. I will end on emmrich, and by extension emmrook, they broke my brain and made me draw/write/gif more in the past 7 months than I think I have in the past 2 years LMAO so god bless those funky little goths they are piloting the braincell and driving at top speeds and I thank them for it.

honestly!! this game is SO gorgeous, i will never get over it - and you are so right about the fun little discoveries! they really put so much into one single game, and while you can absolutely make your way through without discovering anything and that works, it's sooo fun to discover the things!

and honestly, i thought i did an in-depth exploration in my first playthrough... but as i'm slowly working through my second i'm like what?? is this?? i am discovering whole new sections of maps... 😂

and yesss, omg.... i have always meant it when i say i love all dragon age characters, bc i genuinely do, but veilguard makes it so easy to love everyone!

right??? like no matter what and no matter when, the obvious trans rep would be immensely meaningful, but rn...? wow. i've said before that veilguard is a brave game and i stand by that 😤 it is brave and earnest and it says that trans people belong. that nonbinary people belong. and that is so, so important 🥺

yeah!!! i am fascinated by the little changes depending on your faction... 👀 playing as a veil jumper first and then switching to a warden has been like Wow strife is treating me Very Differently 😂 it makes me so excited for the replay value, too!

REAL that was so good and important. i really hope other games with banter pick up on that, bc it feels totally organic the way that they did it but you aren't missing out on the banter which is soooo important to me! i remember playing dai and getting the banter cut off and sometimes i'd pause and look up what little they'd said so i could at least hopefully find and read the whole thing... 😂

yes!! god, the effort that went into this game - at all levels - is really phenomenal... like they didn't have to go this hard, to be this detailed and exacting, but they did! they did that! i have so much admiration and respect for the entire team behind this game, because it truly is amazingly well done on so many levels. the hair physics continue to impress me hehe... i need to play a long-haired character just to watch them more lmao

yes!! yes this is one of my favorite details!!! it really serves to flesh out the world, and to show that there are people everywhere. like ofc we see them, but listening to what they're talking about - sometimes innocuous, sometimes serious, sometimes downright grim - just adds such depth

y e s oh my god. yes. yes. i am just... i was a little worried about how solas would be handled, ngl. like obviously trick loves him but trick also seems to love a certain amount of misery - as do i, it's fun making your audience suffer lmfao - but the ending is so, so good and cathartic... 🥺 it didn't soften him at all, it showed his dread wolf side a lot more clearly, and still, he can change his mind. and that is! so! important! like that as a message is SO important, i don't think i'll ever get over that... but also yes... wormy boy >3 and Big Fucking Scraggly Wolf... truly we got it all 🥰

honestly emmrich is AMAZING and emmrook looks so good 👀 i didn't know the characters when i started playing, was very deliberate about staying in the dark, and i fell for bellara so fast lmao but i was like no... be strong... wait until u meet everyone...! (spoiler: i was Not strong and i did Not wait and i do Not regret this lmao) but i'm sooo genuinely excited to play all the romances!! they all seem so good

Hello, I'm here for the matchups!

The fandom I chose for is Danganronpa (V3), and I don't wish to be matched with Korekiyo and Tsumugi (sorry, personal vendettas)

Im 5"1 - 5"2, short black hair, brown eyes, and I'm basically fem representing (nonbinary). I have a little bit of chub but I hate it when people comment on it, since its something I have a sensitive spot on. Other than my appearance, I'm basically a victim of rbf (resting bitch face) syndrome and drive people away from it, alongside with looking scary appearance wise.

Despite this, I'm a kind person and very empathetic to those that I meet and am close to. I am loyal to my friends to a fault and if someone harms them, I end up standing by them in their stead to protect them. Although I have a bad temper and am extremely stubborn, which could lead to my misfortune at times when the situation calls for it.

I'm an Aries, and I enjoy a lot of hobbies— mostly writing, drawing, and even playing horror games! I have a knack with old horror RPG games because they are fun to solve with, even if I do get a little scared at times when it gets intense. I also enjoy VNs, my favorite being horror ones than romance (especially those with mysteries).

In my friend group, I'm the therapist friend and I accept that role wholeheartedly. I tend to be the one to give people advice, hear them out, and comfort them when needed be. Of course, it does lead to me burning out, but I shrug it off because it's something I can do on my own.

My favorites are definitely eating sweets, and being with my companions. I enjoy a good mystery as well, even if it wracks my brain. I don't enjoy riddles because I'm... Not too big brained for it (oops), and I don't enjoy blaming others for their mistakes.

In the third post about episode 10th of Hoshiai no Sora I want to highlight everything else portrayed, cute and sad alike. So let’s start from GREAT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAKI AND HIS MUM. Because this is precious thing we get in every episode and I cannot stress how much I love that! Also the fact that they actually talk like normal people is stunning. I want to have a parent like that, who listens to me and tells me why she cannot be somewhere where it would be nice if she was, because I will perform there. If I had Maki’s mum as my parent my life would be so much better, just saying. We stan Maki’s mum!

Below the cut you will find:

1. Oji Arashi and his detachment from real life. (Pretty obvious stuff, sorry).

2. Rintaro’s meeting with his mum foreshadowing.

3. Praising the relationship between Rintaro and Itsuki.

4. Takada Kei as rare female role model for boy’s club.

5. Touma and Student Council President meeting.

6. Kasuga Kaori’s quick analyze.

7. Toxicity of fans vs Mitsue.

Another thing shown in the episode was Arashi’s complete obliviousness of the life of the people in the world around him. I mean there wasn’t much about him other than establishing him as someone who doesn’t know how real world works and that people don’t usually drag made at home food with them around, and that he can be easily persuaded to talk when he gets the food he wants, but also there was something else there to him. We all know that Arashi is self-centered prince like character, who thinks he is awesome in everything, but it looks like not everybody thinks in the same way about his behavior. 

The twins Arashi met today definitely think of him as if he was the dumbest person on earth. Though important thing here is that Arashi's business with the twins sounded either as if they thought he chose bad school or as if Misaki school got tough route through tournament. For both of them it is very funny that Arashi thinks he is this one person who can ensure his school victory and twins just couldn't take it without laughing it off as a good joke. They are also the only people whose strength Arashi not only acknowledges but also explicitly points out that they are more awesome than he is in general. If I was to call him anything I would say he is Naruto Uzumaki type of character, just without emotional trauma of being the most hated orphan in the village attached.

I feel a little bad for him though, mostly because he is being treated like animal to feed and get information from by Maki. Maki, that’s not cool! But to be fair, Arashi isn’t without blame here too, because he literally treats Maki as the free food supply and didn’t even give him money back for everything he ate. He is a rich boy after all, he thinks everything should be handed to him on silver plate. It was his life all those years, so he isn’t even able to consider it’s not normal.

Next thing is Rintaro’s meeting with mum. There is not much to say about that to be honest, because it’s just a short scene put out here in order to establish future storyline in regard to Rintaro’s life. It didn’t even manage to affect the game he played. Just like Nao’s problems with his mum didn’t show up too. Everybody were so focused on the match that nobody really thought about their real life problems, too preoccupied with actually trying to win the games. 

Though I wonder what this whole thing with Rintaro’s knee is supposed to foreshadow as well, because it like appeared out of nowhere, but also it seemed that whole club knew about that before, outside Maki who noticed it during the match. Is it some drama-related injury or just regular thing which Rintaro dealt with all his life? It really made me wonder if the two situations, his knee condition and his mother’s sudden wish to meet him aren’t by any chance related. I am also worried what losing a match because of a knee can do to Rintaro, considering he feels as much responsible for the club as Shinjo does, but just shows it in different way, by self-blaming himself for “being useless”. It like screams drama to me. Rintaro really wanted to win this! Rintaro! ToT

Also once again I want to point out another great dynamic between the pair shown. Just like in the cases of Shingo/Tsubasa and Taiyo/Nao, here we also can see how great companions Rintaro and Itsuki are to each other. They do not blame one another for mistakes and Itsuki really tried to make Rintaro as relaxed as it’s possible by bringing up Takada. To be honest I loved the fact that he actually mentioned her, because it’s not only a sweet and tasty female character praise based on the fact that female soft tennis club is really a big deal, which is rare in sports anime, but also that they both look up to Takada as a player.

It’s also worth pointing out, that when Rintaro’s leg starts giving up Touma isn’t really mad because of that. It’s one from probably two situations in the whole episode when Shinjo is actually calm and at peace with what is happening.

Second time when he is calm and collected happens in the most unforeseeable circumstances for him as a character, meaning when Student Council President comes to the soft tennis courts to inspect the clubs. I was really surprised that Touma wasn’t at all angry, but it just speaks a lot about how quickly he can get over something bad if he finds a way to reforge it into something good. In this case he reforged Student Council President’s decision to disband his club into motivation and necessary pressure which his teammates needed to become better at soft tennis. He also acknowledges that they were slacking off before.

Speaking of which I loved that we also got another glimpse into Student Council President personality with this one worried “Am I a bully?”, which speaks volumes about how insecure she feels about herself. We knew that she comes from a rich house and didn’t really want to go to the school, which she goes now and that her mother and grandmother both use different names to address her, because both see Kaori as someone else and enforce that by using those names and treating Kaori in different ways to be sure that she grows the way they want her to grow. But Kaori also isn’t stupid, and plays their game by allowing herself to act as they wish her to act, while in truth she has her own vision of herself which she realizes outside her mother and grandmother influence. Part of that vision is probably making school run better than it did before, hence why she was so adamant about closing clubs which waste funds. It doesn’t though mean that she doesn’t doubt herself, because of authority she has and the way she acts, which this one glimpse of anxiety expresses so well. Also the fact that Touma is the one who assures her she is fine and right about what she says was so heartwarming OMG! He is such a good person! ToT

The last and probably the most important thing for me as an artist was the mention of world reaction to Mitsue’s art style and theme change on her artistic twitter account. Her fans literally bashed her over that, which not only shows how internet pressure looks like from the perspective of the creators, but also highlights the toxic fandom practices of pushing creators to change back to what they were before, because “they liked them more that way, and they hate the new them”. This practice can be powerful when it’s about social justice and ensuring that big companies won't leave out or misrepresent minority groups, but it has also the darker side which always presents itself as bunch of people being shitty and disrespectful to their favorite creators in hope their abuse will change them back to the image they are the most accustomed to and prefer to see. Yes, that’s abuse, the worst kind of abuse to be honest, which can make artist quit.  The second those fans do not get what they want they start acting like entitled fans and white male gamers combined. I do not want to draw a line between gender here, because I believe some of those nasty people were girls as well, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that this behavior was the exact same which I saw in every “white male gamer” who made a drama of every game in which female character is treated as she should be, as a person instead of an object. And I think it’s important to point out here due to the fact that Natsuko is known mostly from drawing goth stuff, probably mostly young women, and we knew before that her fans were all squealing over the so called “knee-skirt” gap, which all on it own was already sexist and disgusting for me to be honest.

And this is what I want to tell all of them! SCREW YOU! Also I am happy that the hate she got didn’t discourage Mitsue, and she still posted the last picture.

Origins

Alistair: super sweet dude who literally is not the stereotypicalchantryguyfightme. He’s a great example of healthy masculinity and I totally wish he was bi because I have an entire essay on that— also: he’s a poc! His mum was brown. In game he’s got dark features. if you really want a blond/blue-eyes/white guy, make your warden that. or accept that brown people can be noble and moral. or just draw cailan, idk. just because BioWare whitewashes doesn’t mean you should.

Leliana: someone hug my singing girlfriend before I crush her under with my own hugs. Also: nugs. Yes! Shoes. Yes! She likes how I style my hair? YES!! I honestly think she’s super duper and it pisses me off whenever someone’s like: yeah she enjoys killing people and the Game. ok. and michel de chevin willingly participated in genocidal marches through the alienage he grew up in with his elvhen mum. 

Morrigan: dirty swamp witch that i stan and also have a v big crush on. tiddies. Have a son with a GW so we can raise him with our tiddies out in the forest. she’s also white-passing, as her father was chasind and all people we’ve seen that are chasind are black. therefore, she is biracial. therefore, poc can be goths and don’t shy away from giving morrigan a darker skintone. if the devs had of been thinking, she’d have a darker skintone.

Zevran: Actually is the best romance, I think. Loves consent, therefore I will stan him so hard my skull cracks a little. Also: he is a very brown boy and if he’s white in da4 I’m seriously going to throw all canon out the fucking window. genuinely a good person who needs to be told so. 

Wynne: grandma who only likes my friends who go to church. but also super sweet and I’d rest my head on her bosom (in a platonic way omg ZEVRAN)

Sten: angry quiet boi. the bestest boi. I totally would give him a kitten for a gift and bake him cookies. Thicc softie. I think if I had DA:O and i knew how to use mods i would mod the fuck outta him. sorry.

Anders: he acts like rlly straight but he’s so gay I can smell it. also he’s rlly cute and fun and I love him so much.

Nathaniel Howe: honestly is sort of a white knight/neck beard a little, but it’s kind of charming with his whole velanna m’lady?? grump boi. annoying soul patch that I’d mod out SO FAST—

Bethany: sunshine. Literal sunshine. I feel my freckles grow in her presence and i love it. she’s my little baby sister and I’d slam that ogre so fuckin hard before it touched either twin.

Carver: there has to be a mod where both twins survive. I love them both to bits. My babies. carver is my bitter, angry little brother and I can relate because I too am very angry and would totally clap my own ass. hes so genuine and I don’t get the competition between Beth and Carver. Like, both are fuckin stellar in different ways. In this essay I will—

Fenris: honestly, I don’t get the general hate between him and Anders. Fenris’ main arc should’ve been a recovery arc, not drunken moping and revenge. he deserves better. give him a soft sweater instead of his spikes and let him love himself as much as I love him for MAKERS SAKE. like when you really think about their relationship, it could’ve been an eye-opener for fenris and finally some legit sympathy for anders. but we all know that if they had of teamed up that Meredith would’ve been dead before the end of Act 1 so.

Isabela: whorephobia is not a joke. oversexualizing your only appearing brown woman is so poorly written. how about we appreciate her and her lovely bosoms but also let people tease her about her heart of gold? her innate understanding of freedom? instead of just a wave of dick? please?? can we give her some pants for when she fights? can we accept that i fall for rogues who hate themselves?? fuck. also whomever draws her x femHawke x Merrill literally is after my own heart.

Merrill: my fucking babygirl MARRY ME. Fenris could’ve been her older brother type, but NO. she and Isabela should’ve been canonical gfs instead of Isabela/Fenris (no shaming the pairing tho!!). Blackwall: Redemption Arc 101. Love him to bits. Sad dad bunwall. good man. actually atoned for his sins by actively becoming a good person. his initial design is 80% hotter im so sorry but so not.

Cassandra: was way browner in the last game. would romance the fuck outta her. I love me a butch lady who melts at my dorky recitation of poetry. BioWare is a coward. also is the worst choice for divine. but not a bad person. could use some more guidance or get her ass whipped by a dalish elf about religion or a circle mage kid whos like “yeah bud i didn’t ask for the templars to whip my ass everyday for existing.”

The Iron Bull: I think the Qunari/Vashoth were a little based off black people (the whole anti blackness thing where ppl are scared of them bcc of whatever reason) and it pisses me off that he had a weird ass dubcon thing with Dorian in banter. It doesn’t make sense— he’s an A+++ dom and would not jump straight in role play without at least checking in at first like wtf BioWare.

Cole: his mother was chasind so he’s like not supposed to be that white? or like biracial? albino? idk. love him to bits tho. He’s neurodivergent and I deadass love him. romancing him? idk. I see why ppl think it’s fuckin nasty but also like as a writer I’d age him the fuck up so fast before my inquisitor even THOUGHT about that. like idk. I’m down with him being a sweet little bro character tho. he’s a babe. love him.

Sera: had the worst fucking writer I’ve ever seen and I willingly read the twilight saga twice by a shit ass racist white lady who okay’d pedophilia. like. Fuck you Kristjanson suck your own dick you fuck. had the worst options in regards to speak to her. has a thicc case of internalized racism that literally most of the fandom just loves to use against her. my lesbian neurodivergent queen. Varric: I haven’t played DA2 so i don’t get why everyone wants to romance him but like. a dwarf romance? yes please. Idk he reminds me of my uncle so I only see him as fun uncle material. Deadass should adopt Cole and Merrill and co parent with Blackwall for Sera. dads? fuck yeah. love me some wholesome, present fathers.

Dorian: is a gay stereotype that I love/hate so much. and he’s also just as bad about being a creep bcc he sexualizes qunari men (in banter). I attribute that to shit writing tho. I want to protect him from all the “omg gay best friend!” people. he’d clearly be that tired gay that wouldn’t give a diddly damn about ur het romance. wanna talk about politics? he’s ur guy/gay.

Solas: “me, an intellectual:”. I don’t hate him, but I’m not about him. He comes off as mysterious and suave (which he totally is) but I deadass would not save him from himself because he’s a racist, exclusionist eggshell. idk. not my cup of tea, but I can totally see the appeal. And he’s interesting, I’ll totally say that. “I think the Dalish are garbage but they made you” is not a compliment. it’s so offensive. and such bait for “quirky girls” which I’m no fan of. Would be Achilles and let Patroclus (Lavellan in his case) die before he realized how his pride is literally a waste of time. If he gets a redemption arc I hope Lavellan gets to slap him before getting him to teach all about ancient Arlathan and show that the Evanuris weren’t all total dicknozzles. (Aka I really have a hard time believing that they’d be slavery cult things. especially since they’ve compared elves to indigenous ppl, Jews and the Romani.)

Vivienne: it’s so racist that they’d make a black woman be pro-slavery. That’s such internalized racism. She could’ve been the cool ass “educate yourself first before you speak, fool” ice lady, but NO. the devs could’ve kept the “Templars are a tool that I proudly can mandate” and the “circles are very good education” and we. Could. Have. Romanced. Her. Like. Fuck. Sake. I just wanna give her a hug and say “love yourself omg!!” and not even in a romantic way. Also: she and morrigan should not have been so antagonistic towards each other. I’d expect them to have great respect for each other, as they both moved up in the world through hardwork and very little help. They could learn different magic from each other too and still maintain that rival respect “oh you” mood. Sidenote: probably the cooler option for Divine. if her approval is high enough she’ll love and be loyal to you forever and i can’t see her agenda being bad. she improves the circles exponentially and tells all the antis to suck her pretty painted toes.

Josephine: an actual disney princess. romanced her my first playthrough. I love her so much. she just makes me so happy. And she’s like: “Integrity, Loyalty, peace. That is what it means to be a GREY WARDEN good fucking person.” she’s the person who would let you hold her hand if you got anxious and she’d be that person who shouldered the whole group project with finesse and poise and would probably lie for everyone as to not be mean. i love josie. her and leliana’s relationship is so cute, too. whether it’s romantic or not: women supporting women.

Leliana: if you leave her hardened you must hate her. why. she becomes so against herself. i like how shes feminine and lighthearted because that’s so powerful-- to remain hopeful when the world is hopeless. (its hard to know when to soften her/harden her so i get it but. google it. she deserves to be happy and sweet again.)

Cullen: uwu war criminal with shit ass “redemption arc” that was actually a half-assed (at BEST) recovery arc. Recovery isn’t linear, it isn’t pretty, and even the broken need to be told they are wrong in order to heal right. Like I’m offended by that bullshit. I’ve had to do some mental health recovery in the past and unlearning lots of toxic ideologies— which I’m still unlearning— and it bothers me that he gets an easy pass because he’s hot. It’s one thing if you like Cullen, it’s another thing if you hold him accountable.

-all the girls are SWOONING over Craig and I really don’t get it. I didn’t get it when I was a kid, either. He’s not like, an ugly kid or anything, but... idk I kind of would expect something more given how obsessed with him Emma and Manny are???? what’s the deal here, what am i missing

-I forgot the rape storyline came this early, and if they were going to go for it, I think Paige was a really great choice. She’s an objectively mean, unlikable character. I think it’s important to show something like that happen to someone we’re not supposed to particularly like. It broke my heart when Hazel told her to report the guy but Paige had this whole monologue of like, “didn’t I ask for it”? The other storyline in the episode is about JT and Toby sharing a locker, which ends up being about how to enforce boundaries. A good companion to Paige’s story.

-I like that the (first) eating disorder storyline is given to a boy, when Toby tries to make weight for the wrestling team. Also, pairing that story with Terri’s self-consciousness about being a plus-size model was an interesting choice. Her shut-down of the ice cream boy making fun of her weight has stayed with me ever since I first saw it

-I’m so glad that even though Manny and Emma both liked Craig and thought he was into Emma, they didn’t get into a rift when he said he actually liked Manny. Emma even gets all excited helping Manny get ready for their first date! So sweet

-the episode about Hazel’s internalized Islamophobia also has stayed with me. Wow, I mean I know it was a Canadian show but to do something like that so soon after 9/11?? Bless this show

-wow, I forgot Spike considered getting an abortion, and given Emma’s SJW nature it’s interesting to see that this came from an era when she would still be upset about an abortion. Although, part of that may be her sensitivity to unwanted pregnancies as she was the result of one. Interesting to get into

Goth pets and animals for those seeking a familiar

I am pretty sure that a common Goth trait is greatly preferring animals to people in most situations, and I am no exception-in fact, I like to quietly tell myself that I am quite the pack leader in this respect. I never met an animal I didn’t like-spiders don’t count, and I even find them fascinating to read about or view from a safe distance behind an impenetrable glass barrier whilst holding an AK47 just in case.

I currently serve two cats-Matilda and Batman-as well as apparently some kind of rodent that is currently living in one of my cupboards. I am trying to catch it in a trap and release tube, which is currently failing in its stated purpose but does seem to be providing said rodent with a convenient and easily accessible source of regularly replenished food.

One of the cats brought this fella in, and I failed to catch and remove it before she let it go. Since then I have had to be particularly vigilant about intercepting said cat with her subsequent pets, lest I unwittingly find myself in possession of a breeding pair.

Although it’s probably not a Guinea pig.

Anyway, I have spent a lot of my life on and off working with animals, am what my mother calls a “dog botherer” when out and about, and think everything with fur, scales or feathers needs feeding, and that it is my job to do so. I am always trying to play matchmaker between my friends who I think are both responsible and not at full capacity yet, and homeless, wonky or otherwise in-need animals that need a home.

So, with all of this in mind, I have decided to dedicate this blog post to sharing five of the best pets and familiar animals for Goths, whether you want something as demanding as a child or just want to be on nodding terms with the local wildlife.

A black cat

A black cat, because OBVS. Behold, Batman Salem Slinkycat:

Greatly smartening up my home décor and blending in quite nicely too. Cats are the best companions for Goths, in my highly biased opinion, and black cats are the best of the best. They match your wardrobe, have the most awesome personalities, and are painfully beautiful too.

Cats are loving, warm, affectionate and hilarious, as well as being quite happy entertaining themselves as well.

Added to which, black cats are the hardest to rehome, and the most commonly overlooked in shelters, which means that as Goths, we have a duty to serve our black-clad brethren and prioritise adopting them accordingly. So says me.

A weird Gothy dog

If you’re looking for a Gothy dog, look no further than the Hungarian Puli.

Yes my friend, this dude has actual honest to god dreadlocks, which is something that you don’t see every day, and they are medium sized, relatively long lived, and again, DREADLOCKS. ON A DOG. Natural dreadlocks, that form as cords and have to be cared for just like dreaded hair. You need a dog with locs. Everyone does. Go on.

A crow

Seriously there cannot possibly be an animal more Goth than a crow, partially because whilst these birds are really intelligent and will potentially adopt humans, they are also never going to be anyone’s bitch and will soon bugger off and/or shit all over your stuff if you displease them.

Obviously crows aren’t domesticated per se, but if you find yourself in a position to help or rescue one, they are certainly prepared to consider taking on a human as a pet, as this lady found out.

Even if you have crows in your garden or nearby and make an effort to befriend them by providing food or being nice to them, they are scarily smart and will soon come to recognise you, and may even start bringing you shiny things to say thanks. No really, this is a thing.

A snake

Snakes are cool. If you are looking for a caged pet that is both fascinating and reasonably low maintenance assuming that you know what you are doing and don’t think they take care of themselves, and are keen to get something a little different, a snake might be the way to go.

I mean, imagine answering the door to the Jehovahs clad in all black and with an albino snake just randomly winding itself around your neck. Some good breeds of pet snake for beginners include corn snakes, king snakes and ball pythons, none of which grow to massive sizes-save the seven-foot boa constrictor for the grown-ups.

Gothy fish

Finally, fish are great. You can keep a small tank or a whole room of tanks, have masses of choices in terms of saltwater, tropical or coldwater, and can decorate their cribs with more care and attention than you do your own but for a fraction of the cost.

Seriously, a Goth fishtank is a great idea, and whether you just get a couple of black goldfish or something a bit more challenging like the awesome yellowtail damsonfish above, you can for sure find a set-up within your budget.
