Joining a fandom late/during a dry spell is a double-edged sword.
On the one hand, things are pretty chill and there isn’t much of a hurry to consume the newest show or comic.
On the other hand, the chance of establishing oneself as the expert on certain characters is slim to none.

I don't consider myself an expert so much as posessing a single brain cell dedicated to him, the musical robot boy :P
but! i LOVED cyberverse's take on soundwave. TFP soundwave sticks out from the flock of more traditional soundwaves in terms of design, but cyberverse soundwave sticks out in terms of pure personality. he's an unapologetic jerk but once [roddy] has his respect, soundwave's got hot rod's back.
(and they were in the loop together! and they were in the loop together.)
i loved his little rivalry with shockwave, too. usually the wavewave ship is a 'we share the brain cell' oriented, which, nothing wrong with that at all, but a dash of rivalmance is a nice change. also! his friendship with shadow striker is just? *chef's kiss*
plus, after his terribad fate(s) in every other series, cyberverse soundwave ended up not just alive, but probably ALSO the leader of the decepticons?? love that for him.
