i love avenstelle because of the complete contrast between their personalities. lemme explain

this is based on how i see (saw?) them both during the main penacony storyline and in interactions past that, so if anything is off it’s prob bc it’s been a while since i played it (and bc i don’t have aventurine so i can’t exactly listen to his lines)

anyways i think aventurine as a person is very much a performer. he puts on an act around everybody he meets; that’s how he keeps control, by pretending like he’s always a step ahead of whoever he’s talking to at the moment. business partners, but i presume also colleagues and people he considers his friends. he might be more open towards them but generally, he keeps up a very strong veneer that’s almost impossible to break (acheron’s line abt him basically confirms this; he’s got a strong facade but a weak soul).

and then there’s stelle, who’s never been anything other than honest her entire life (or at least since she woke up on herta space station). she doesn’t hesitate to tell people what she thinks, good or bad, and while she retains a high degree of emotional intelligence (argue with a WALL) she’s still just naturally inclined to be raw and honest with the people she meets. it’s not like she’s doing it on purpose, either—it’s just the way she is.

so what happens when you combine a man who’s become a master at putting up a front, and a woman who’s honest to a fault? you get a lot of unintentionally vulnerable moments between them.

i recently saw art by @chell-min (fantastic artist btw go check them out) where they have a bit of an awkward moment due to aventurine’s assumption that stelle only keeps him around bc of his riches/his gift giving. he plays it off as something natural, something he can laugh about, and it’s clear this is his way of trying to stay in control of the situation—but when stelle looks at him in confusion and disbelief and asks “you think i don’t want you around?” he freezes.

and like. yes. of course aventurine would think she only tolerates him for the things he can do with his money. of course he believes that she must think their relationship is pure business. he doesn’t take into consideration that she might actually want him around for him and not just his degree of “usefulness”, but when she answers, he’s confronted with that idea for the first time. stelle’s complete honesty and lack of filter makes him stop in his tracks, because someone just implied the direct opposite of what he’s been deluding himself into thinking his whole life.

and i think this is exactly the type of relationship they have initially. while all the gifts and trips to wherever are cool, i think the first leg of their relationship would be mostly stelle completely unraveling aventurine’s facade. there’s moments she backs off on her approach (i.e. they’re in public or in another situation that can’t use much awkwardness, which is always what follows when things like that happen) and there’s moments where she lets the filter go poof and watches aventurine grapple with the fact that someone truly, honestly and without shame, loves him. not for business, not for fun or casual, nothing. just him. him, and all his flaws and hidden doors. poor dude can hardly handle it, which is probably also why it gets to a point where he sort of just breaks down and either tells her about some of the many many things that plague him, or he lets her hold him in her arms while he feels her tremendous body heat (that he’s come to adore) and comes to terms with the fact that this beautiful, honest, unfiltered woman is just as badly in love with him as he is with her.

7x06 SPOILERS

So I watched and read some interviews from Melissa O'Neil, and boy, howdy did she really spoil the mess out of this episode. LOL

And what she shares really has me of two minds. Super excited/hopeful but also worried.

Obviously, I love that she said that their assignment "really lays the foundation for what ends up being, like, a really spicy evening."

In the TVLine interview, she says the assignment is "Turn in Your Ex." this feels like they would do it at the Gala, but it could happen before it as well.

I am a little concerned about when she says "He kind of just layers in that he is taking someone." Meaning that during their assignment/task before the Gala, Tim is going to tell Lucy or let it slip that he is planning to take someone with him to the Gala.

Okay, we all know it is Genny, so the intent of taking his sister is, in my opinion, a great sign. He didn't want to be alone, probably, but wouldn't dream of having an actual date. My worries come in for how he might say this.

If he tells this to Lucy as a way to make her jealous, I am really not cool with that. You guys read my last post; I am all in for a mess. But I just don't like the spirit of that. As the "hurt" party, I would accept that from Lucy. But right now we haven't seen enough of Tim doing those small doses to skip to this type of trick. I'm not one to think that Tim needs to gravel, beg, and plead. But he does need to gain Lucy's trust back.

I have read a few Fanfics that seemed to explain it well. They both love each other, that's clear as day. At this point, I even think they both know why he did what he did, and I think Lucy can / has begun to forgive him for that moment when he lost control. But if I was her, I don't think I would feel safe that it wouldn't happen again. I would be too afraid at this point, even if I loved him, to just go back all in. What happens the next time he spirals out? Would he just walk away again?

However, Tim could also accidentally say this. Maybe he says it to someone else, but Lucy overhears him. Or it's just a reaction comment that falls stupidly from his mouth. In this case, I can be okay with it. I am here for some dramatic shit, so if it is not mean-spirited, I can accept moments of saying stupid stuff. (My life is full of my own examples)

Also, in an interview, Melissa says she thinks "off-camera" that knowing Tim is taking someone to the gala makes Lucy dress up to look especially hot. Now, I think this is why she has his necklace on, to twist the knife a bit.

All right, so I have clearly spent several hours thinking about this. I really need it to be showtime to let my crazy brain rest. Hahaha

I haven’t actually gotten to this point in the series but. I know there’s a scene in the later seasons where stiles says “mom would’ve believed me” to the sheriff and that’s another one that is so significant if you’re someone with Stiles’ family situation ie. a dead mother and a widowed father

Bc ive pulled the same shit only once or twice when I was really angry with my dad and from experience I can tell you that it feels ugly and awful and like cheating when it leaves your mouth. But when you see someone as nearly infallible and you feel like you can’t get through to them. and you know the one thing that’s going to break them down so you can just see them as human again, not as an unbreachable wall, not as an opponent or an obstacle or someone to prove something to.

When you want to get through to them, despite how twisted it is, you want to use that trump card even when you know it’ll hurt you both

All of the characters in Lonely are vague and undefined on purpose, since I wanted the story to feel like a fairytale. Fairytales tend to have characters who fit certain roles, e.g. 'the princess', 'the witch', 'the hero', etc, etc, and you don't necessarily expect them to have more going on than that. I wanted characters feel a bit archetypal, and I didn't want to delve into any of them too deeply because I didn't want to ground the story in reality too much... So, there's not that much information in the story or outside of it about certain characters. I don't know if I really want to give concrete details about all of the cast either, since I would prefer to leave things up to interpretation. I'm sorry if the answer is disappointing! I don't mind at all if people want to make headcanons for the characters or pick them apart, but I'm not sure if I would want to provide much more external information than what is already presented!

I had never really watched much Marvel, other than a few Spiderman movies and Deadpool. I had definitely never seen any Captain America or Avengers movies.

I found your blog a fair while ago and fell in love with your Steve and Bucky. I decided that this year I would watch throught the MCU in chronological order.

I've just finished watching The Winter Soldier.

I don't know whether I want to say thank you or screw you for introducing me to this world of absolute pain. I believe there is one Captain America movie left, and be warned, if it doesn't end well (with a little kissie) I will haunt your blog until the end of time.

DO. NOT. watch Avengers: Endgame. If you absolutely must, cut it off about 10 minutes before the end, this is for your own sanity. It came out in April of 2019, I saw it the first night in theaters, and I am STILL furious any time I think about it.

That being said, you should know that you've reached The Peak of the MCU. There are very few MCU movies better than Captain America: The Winter Soldier. One of them is Black Panther.

Of course, I will be happy to soothe the wounds brought on by TWS. Any special requests or will anything suffice?

i also think that one of the best/worst (emotionally speaking) parts of the episode today is that sho hayami has aizen sounding exactly as i had hoped he would.

aizen sounds absolutely empty. he sounds dead inside. sure, that husky bass rumble of a voice is still intact - but there's nothing more to him than that. in that exchange he had with shunsui, it was so easy to see and tell how much aizen's been affected by not only his time in muken but by his loss of gin.

and before anyone thinks i'm being delulu, you gotta remember - the last time we saw aizen animated (not counting the end of deicide where he was absolutely unhinged emotionally and for good reason, between the breakdown of his powers & the loss of gin & the presence of the man he hates more than anything) was when he was around gin.

i have said it before and i'll say it again: what revived after that moment in deicide was not aizen sousuke. it was the hogyoku rising up to defend him and the hogyoku helped carry things along to that conclusion because aizen's desire was to lose his powers as a shinigami in hopes of becoming 'normal'.

it's absolutely fucked up how much sho hayami nailed exactly how i've been imagining aizen's voice being like in the episode today but it's also so vindicating and so on brand for me and how i write this bastard.

i'm thriving. but oh does it fucking hurt.

yes!!! he’s just that guy who’s so devoted and loves to provide bc it genuinely makes him feel good! he’s also a little insane about you and that’s ok!!

he indulges in your whims and even when he acts annoyed he really does enjoy the petty arguments w you or how silly you can be when you’re comfortable. he will absolutely complain about you doing things yourself whenever you ask something of him but he does it anyway. even if you’re last in bed and you forgot to turn off the big light you look at him pleading as you snuggle further under the bedding and ask him to turn it off for you.

he grumbles that it should be you getting up bc you were just up but he’s already getting to his feet. and he just loves you. maybe even a touch obsessed w you.
