Will mostly be reblogging for a while I think, but I’m gonna be real, 70 percent of my reason for making this blog in the hopes of writing was that I noticed a big chunk of CoD x reader posts on this hellsite have readers with like…concerningly low ages. There’s a lot of reader character minor-coding going on, and it’s weirdling me out (no shade to young writers, I know a lot of the reason is that a majority of CoD fanfic writers are 18-25 here, which, yk, fair that you wanna see self-inserts with similar ages).
But as I said, it gives me the ick, so if/when I end up writing x reader, I wanna go ahead and make it clear that I will not be writing a reader character in a romantic/sexual position BELOW the age of 25 at most. Most of the Call of Duty men are, like, 28 at the youngest, and I’m more inclined to write reader characters with matching ages, especially afab readers.
In other words? I’m gonna write milfs and dilfs. I’m gonna write top!reader. I’m gonna write unhinged women that leave the various men of TF141 screaming crying throwing up. I will NOT be writing virginal, innocent, or overly naive reader characters; I do not do minor-coding. Y’all have been warned.

“Marry me,” Mr. Potter repeats, closing the distance between them by striding back up towards the sofa, only to stop and crouch to one knee right there at her feet, looking up at her. Burning. “Pick me,” he elaborates. “Pick me, choose me, love me instead.”
- this fic is the reason why I comment the way that I do (spoiler it's because it's amazing)

- I'm one re-read away from printing this out and putting it on my bookshelf.

DAY 22: WHUMPTOBER: Do These Tacos Taste Funny To You? - Poisoned @whumptober2020
DAY 23: WHUMPTOBER: What’s A Whumpee Gotta Do To Get Some Sleep Around Here? - Exhaustion
DAY 28: WHUMPTOBER: Such Wow. Many Normal. Much Oops. - Accidents
DAY 10: ANGSTOBER: Poisoning @angstober
As you can see, this one covers several prompts, I was being thrifty with this, but here we are.
“You,” his partner told him, “are an excellent dancer.”
Luke smiled at her. “You’re not too bad yourself,” he told her, spinning her around again—and it was true. Leia had the poise to her that he would never been able to achieve, twenty years raised as his father’s heir or not, and she always made him look better when they danced together.
Which was just another reason to dance with her, as if the opportunity for clandestine discussion it offered wasn’t good enough.
The song ended and they bowed to each other, Luke smiling at her and about to ask for another one when he caught a glimpse of something over her shoulder—his father, watching him. He inclined his helmet ever so slightly and Luke took his leave of Leia to move towards him, gracefully turning down another courtier who tried to talk to him, picking up the drink he’d put aside for the dancing and taking another sip from it.
“How badly are you suffering, Father?” he asked, stifling a yawn now that he was away from the public eye. It was past midnight, he’d been here since sundown, and he was tired.
“Terribly,” came the response. “Every new moment in this ballroom is an agony.”
Luke laughed to himself, though his heart twinged at the fact he knew it was true, in a much more literal sense.
But that wasn’t exactly something he could help.
Vader eyed the glass in Luke’s hand judgementally and Luke took another sip, almost defensively. “Did you call me over here as a favour because you could tell how exhausted I was? Or was there something you wanted to talk about?”
Vader folded his arms behind his back and started walking—slowly, so Luke could keep up with his massive strides—towards and through the side corridor that led off from the ballroom. Luke hurried after him, frowning, very aware that Leia’s gaze was burning into his back.
“Father?” he called after him, then repeated when he’d caught up and was walking by his side. “Where are we going?”
“The Emperor has requested your presence,” Vader said. “Something about your composure at this ball.”
Luke frowned. “I was under the impression I was doing well—that was why he left me to my own devices.” Palpatine had sat and watched over the room for much of the night, at first, before he’d retired, claiming that it was time for the youths to have their fun. Luke had no idea what he’d meant by that, but he hadn’t partaken in anything near as fun as His Majesty seemed to have been expecting.
“And you were,” Vader said. “Perhaps that is what he wishes to speak to you about.”
Luke nodded. He was already tired—trying to untangle Palpatine’s machinations now was making him feel dizzy. He had a headache.
“That’s plausible, I suppose— Oh.” He blinked, and suddenly he was on the floor staring. The glass that had been in his hand was in pieces on the floor, his drink seeped across and between the flagstones, mingling with something red. He glanced at his hand and winced. Blood and shards, embedded in his palm.
He glanced at his other arm and found that had not been spared either—minor cuts grazed it all the way down.
“Oh,” he said, blinking slowly. “That…”
His father was watching him. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah… It was just an accident.” Luke blinked again, then gingerly pushed himself to his feet, wincing. The poor servants would have to see that and clean it up; he should probably go to the medbay to get the glass in his hands taken out, get some bandages…
But no excuse would satisfy his father’s master. Not if he was late. So when his father started walking again, he kept pace, and when they reached the grand double doors of the throne room he strode in without hesitation, hands still seeping blood.
Even when he noticed that no royal guards were in attendance.
He strode right in.
Palpatine was on his throne, though the shadows seemed darker and longer today than they usually did—Luke didn’t take a moment to dwell on why. Nor did he want to think about why he was suddenly so… weak, bowing and kneeling before his Emperor, his legs trembling, feeling like he was about to throw up.
He had nothing to fear.
He had nothing to fear, did he?
“Luke,” Palpatine said warmly, “how are you finding the celebrations?”
Luke kept his head bowed and respectful, knee still to the floor. “As spectacular as ever, Your Majesty. Though I grow more and more tired as the evening drags on.”
“Ah, yes,” Palpatine said, rising from his throne. “I imagine you had a busy day, committing treason.”
For a moment those words didn’t compute—then Luke jerked his head up in shock, mouth agape as he stared. “What? Your Majesty, I—ah!”
There were tight hands—solid, durasteel hands—around his wrists, constricting, digging the glass further in. He cried out.
His father did not release his grip.
“Do you deny it?” Palpatine continued, coming down the steps with a thud, thud, thud of his cape. “I am aware that the moment I left the ballroom, you were passing intelligence to the Princess Leia. Did you think you could get it past me?”
Luke coughed, head spinning now, pain clouding everything crimson. “Master— Father—”
“Do you deny it?” Vader rumbled, right in his ear. He sounded angry.
No, Father, no, I never meant to betray you, it wasn’t you I turned my back on, no—
He opened his mouth—to say what, he didn’t know—
“I have the princess in custody as well. Whatever you say, she will be searched—and if you are found to be lying, in whatever you say, she will be killed. I am certain that she is carrying smuggled information on her person, but if I am found to be mistaken, then the both of you will live. If you tell the truth, and you were both Rebels… I can promise her amnesty. Only if you cooperate.”
Luke swallowed.
There wasn’t any choice to make there.
“Yes,” he confessed. “I passed information to her.”
Vader constricted his grip and Luke cried out, blood running in rivulets down his wrists.
Palpatine raised an eyebrow at it as it dripped onto his polished floor. “Had a little accident, did we? My my, you don’t appear to be in your right mind—perhaps that is as good an explanation for treason against the men who gave you everything as any.”
Luke wasn’t in his right mind—he could see that now; or rather, he couldn’t see. Everything blurred in a cackling of colours and no matter how much he blinked, it would not clear.
But still, the realisation filtered through the haze.
“Poison,” he choked out.
“Yes. I never expected Lord Vader to be so talented at subtlety, but here we are.” Palpatine stepped ever closer, until his robes brushed Luke’s knees, towering over him. “We agreed that if I was wrong, we would give you the antidote. But if I was correct…”
His foot lashed out, then, and pain exploded in Luke side; he was shoved hard onto the floor, head hitting and ringing. He spat blood.
“Well, it would be wrong to give an antidote to a traitor. So enjoy your last few moments of life, dear Luke—I know you have been the Fulcrum agent in our midst for years. I know you have actively worked against us. I am sure your death with be painful enough to make up for all of that.”
Palpatine bent down to stare him in the eye, those sickly irises like searchlights.
Then there was a flash of red.
Luke shouted, yanking back as heat burned against his face, and— and—
Palpatine fell back with a wheeze.
There was something cold at Luke’s lips—he spat and choked and struggled, but then something cold was in his mouth and down his throat and in his head.
“What!?” He coughed, sitting up—when had Vader released him—and glaring. Everything still spun, but he was fairly sure that black blob was his father. “What— what are you— you poisoned me—”
“And you betrayed me,” Vader snapped, and Luke flinched. There was an entire maelstrom of fury there, just under the surface, and he couldn’t… “But you are alive. You had the antidote. The Emperor is dead.”
Luke, with his slowly clearing vision, glanced at Palpatine—and flinched at the body he saw there. “You…”
“Stabbed him. Yes.”
“Why?”
“He was going to kill you. You’re a traitor.”
“What? I don’t understand—”
“I poisoned you,” his father declared, and his words were a thunderclap, “to save your life.”

Enjoy!
Read on Ao3
Adrien opened the package that had arrived for him, letting out a sigh of relief when he saw the clothes he had ordered. The online store had cut it about as close as possible; if this outfit hadn’t arrived today, he’d have to meet Ladybug in something from his usual wardrobe. While the Agreste line is (generally) good, it is not inconspicuous.
“Hey, kid. You still freaking out about this date or what?” Adrien looked up to where Plagg was sitting on the upper level of his bedroom, gnawing at his camembert in what was a leisurely pace for the kwami.
“It’s not a date, Plagg.” Although he wished it was. “We’re just spending some time together outside of our superhero duties. That’s all.”
“Yeah?” His voice got closer as he flew over to Adrien. “Looks like a lot of fussing and fidgeting for something that’s ‘just spending time together’, kid.” He shoved the remainder of his cheese wedge in his mouth. “If you want my advice-”
“I really don’t.”
“-then I’d say you should just relax. It’s not like Ladybug can think of you as any bigger a dork.”
“Thanks, Plagg,” Adrien drily commented. “But I need this to go well if she’ll ever agree to do it again. This might be my one chance to just have a relaxing day with her - no patrols, no superheroics, no villains. Just me and her, eating ice cream and talking.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know. It’ll be fine, kid.” When Adrien continued to pace and wring his hands, Plagg flew in front of him. “Hey. Listen to me: You don’t need to worry. You and Ladybug are already friends - you’re closer than you think you are.” Plagg smirked, as if there was a joke only he knew about. “Now just calm down. It’s still a few hours before your date or whatever you want to call it.
Taking deep breaths, Adrien reigned himself in. “You’re right. I bet Ladybug isn’t freaking out like I am.”
“That’s the spirit, kid. Now onto more important matters - like my camembert.”
------------------------------------
“Tikki!” Marinette whined. “What am going to wear when I meet up with Chat?”
Traditionally, Marinette could send pictures to Alya and get feedback about her outfit, but how would she explain what it was for this time? She didn’t want to lie to her best friend any more than she had to, and this definitely didn’t fall into the necessary category. But that still left her without any moral support from her friends. Support which she was surprised she needed. And why did she?! It was Chat Noir! The person she trusted more than anyone, her best friend besides Alya! Why should she be so nervous for something so casual?
Tikki finally appeared in front of the mountain of clothing, tiny forehead creased in concentration. “You don’t intend to wear all of this… do you?”
The idea was almost appealing, if it at least meant she could decide on something. But no matter how chilly the autumn evenings were getting, arriving in seventeen layers, including four scarves and three hats, would be out of place.
“I’m just teasing, Marinette. Let’s make a few outfits out of this and see which one we like best, okay? We’ll take it one step at a time.” With Tikki patiently helping Marinette decide on what she wanted, they ended up with three complete outfits. “Okay, now - which of these speaks the most to you?”
Marinette ran her eyes over all of them, but it was the middle one that she kept turning back to. She placed a hand on the black fabric of the hoodie - she remembered fruitlessly searching for a good Chat Noir themed hoodie months ago, but none of them really did her partner justice. So she’d bought a black hoodie and made her own, with the cat ears sewn on the hood, and the word, ‘Meowvelous’ embroidered onto the chest. It made her smile to look at, since she knew how much he would love to see it.
The rest of the outfit was just as good, even if she didn’t have a hand in making it - a long skirt, a baseball cap, and the Chat Noir sunglasses. The lime green scarf she did make, a sister piece to the one she had given Adrien.
“Looks like we have a winner,” Tikki said from beside her.
--------------------------------------
“You look radiate as usual, my lady.”
Marinette turned around to see Chat Noir standing at the other end of their meeting place, and she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Great minds think alike, chaton.”
Just like how Marinette was wearing a Chat Noir-themed outfit, Chat Noir was wearing a Ladybug-themed outfit. The red hoodie with spots was a given, but the little antennae on the hood were just adorable. Combined with baggy jeans - which she noted was held up by his leather tail - and a red beanie concealing his ears, he looked exactly like what Chat Noir would be like outside the mask. Just a relaxed, sweet boy.
Just as she had that thought, he pulled out a pair of sunglasses adored with cartoon ladybugs and waggled his eyebrows.
“Yes, very cute, Chat.” She tapped his chest where his bell would be, satisfied at the muffled ring. “Where are we going?”
“I know this amazing little ice cream shop - and no, it’s not Andre’s. No magic except good ice cream with this place.”
“Mmm, the best kind of magic. Lead on.”
They landed in an alley not far from the shop and blended into the crowd. Although Marinette was constantly worried that someone would see right through their disguises, the ruse was working so far. Sure, they could have gone without their suits, but then there was the chance they’d have preemptively revealed themselves. The only risk here was causing a scene or having to sign autographs.
The bell over the door rang as they entered the shop and the first thing Marinette noticed was how few people were here. Besides the shopkeeper, there were a handful of customers spread across the store, leaving plenty of tables and booths open. Despite the emptiness of the room, there was an umbrella rack with a single old umbrella by the door. While Chat Noir was busy scanning the menu, Marinette stepped forward, already certain of what she wanted.
“Strawberry, please.”
Bowl in hand, she paid and found a booth to sit down at. Not long after, Chat Noir had dived into the bench opposite her and practically thrust his bowl under her nose.
“Look! They put chocolate chips in the MINT ICE CREAM!" He grinned with excitement.
She raised an eyebrow at him, even as she fought down a smile. "I see. You're one of those people."
“What?” He said defensively. “I don’t get to enjoy ice cream a lot, so I like to experiment when I get the chance.”
“If you say so.” She took a bite of her delicious strawberry ice cream. “Meanwhile, I’ve got it figured out. I’ve already found the best there is.”
Chat Noir chuckled as he ate. “Whatever you say.”
A few minutes of quiet descended on them as they became absorbed with the ice cream. No wonder Chat had been so insistent upon coming here - it was some of the best she’d had. The silence didn’t last forever, and soon enough they were back into bantering, dancing around any serious topic of conversation. A pun of his landed just right, and she shook her head.
“You’re ridiculous, Chat.”
“And you’re stuck with me,” he said proudly. “Until we’re old and grey.”
She poked at her ice cream, frowning. “Do you think we’ll be at this for that long?”
“I… honestly don’t know. I guess I never really thought about it.”
“We’re no closer to beating him now than we were a year ago. And what happens when he’s gone? Will that be it, or will someone - heck, something - just pop up to replace him?”
Nodding sagely, Chat replied, “Superheroes invite a challenge, naturally creating more supervillains.”
“That would sound more profound if I didn’t know you took it from either the Avengers or the Incredibles.”
“Ooo, my lady! I didn’t know you were such a movie fan. How do you feel about…” he leaned forward and waggled his eyebrows, “...Romance?”
She pushed him away by his nose. “Not a big fan. I mostly like Disney and Pixar. I play them in the background while I… work.” Design work, specifically, but Chat already got his hint for the night. It wouldn’t be good to make it too easy for him.
They launch into a new conversation about movie preferences and quickly discover that they can add that to the list of things they have in common. Excluding Chat Noir’s love of romantic comedies.
“Then maybe the next time we hang out, we could make it a movie night?” Chat poked at his half melted ice cream while he said it, furtively glancing up at her. The implication was clear - if they had a next time.
While she thought about it, she noticed that two men had entered the store. They were hovering near the counter, the bulk of their bodies concealing what was happening from view. All she could see was the shopkeeper, looking very pale and eyes fixed on something that Marinette couldn’t see. Chat Noir followed where she was looking and his bashfulness faded away, replaced by a cold glare.
“After you, my lady.”

It's time to decide whose naughty birthday wishes you'd like to make come true! Below you'll find a numbered list of all the wishes submitted by our members. As is par for the course around here, there's a huge variety: het, femslash, and slash from every generation, romantic themes to dark ones, and, of course, loads of different kinks. They range from a little bit naughty to thoroughly filthy. Something for everyone! In order to make a claim, simply reply to this post and tell us the number of the wish you'd like to fulfill. Comments are screened to preserve anonymity. Each wish can be claimed only once, and as they're taken they'll be struck off the list. We'll be monitoring the post closely and crossing out wishes as they're claimed. If the prompt you pick has already been taken, we'll let you know right away; otherwise you can assume you got the wish you wanted. Members you have a 24 hour "head start" to make your claims before watchers join in. Watchers: a post will go up at 12:00 pm (U.S. Eastern time) tomorrow (January 10th) to let you know you may begin claiming wishes. Also note: If all of the wishes appear to be disappearing before the member period is over, don't panic! We have ways to make plenty of options available if and when the need arises. Note about dealbreakers: You might see a lot of "SPEW" scattered amongst the dealbreakers. That's our acronym for "the usual" hard kinks: Scat, necroPhilia, Emetophilia, and Watersports. This is not intended as a value judgment regarding "good" or "bad" kinks (although it is meant to be at least a tiny bit funny...); it's just an attempt to save space on the (already quite long!) list of wishes. Completed pieces are due by Monday, March 28 and should be emailed to [email protected]. Fic must be a minimum of 1,000 words and art must be a completed piece. Both fic and art must merit at least an R rating. No crossovers permitted. Watchers: your pieces must fit into a single IJ post. The mods reserve the right to refuse any fic that contains significant SPAG problems or art that appears to be a last-minute slap-dash sketch, so be sure to plan ahead and find a reliable beta. Headers for both fic and art will become available a little closer to April. Dealbreakers: non-con, excessive schmoop, ABO dynamics Prompt: Character A really shouldn't have been surprised that Character B was so vocal during sex. I got tagged by the amazing @vaultsexteen, so Imma try and do this with my newest Courier, Solomon Tilo. I hope this is good? Anyway lets start this!
Rules:
1. Choose an OC.
2. Answer them as that OC.
3. Tag 5 people to do the same
1. What is your name?
Its Solomon. Solomon Tilo
2. How old are you?
Well daddy dearest never bothered keeping track of that information, so how should I know? 40, maybe.
3. What do you look like?
Someone you don’t wanna piss off, that good enough of an answer? I’m tall, bulky, and got a face not even a mother could love.
4. Where are you from? Where do you live now?
No place you’ve ever heard of. I come from Cave Creek, a place in what used to be Arizona. See, I knew you wouldn’t know where it is. Anyway, where I live now? I’m currently stuck in the Mojave, but I don’t have any permanent location. I prefer it that way.
5. What was your childhood like?
Oh my childhood was just delight after delight. Forced to participate in fights to the death in the afternoon, beaten like a dog by my drunk dad in the evening. Absolutely delightful childhood, it was. Happy you brought it up now?
6. What groups are you friendly with? Are you allied with any factions?
Allies? All allies are, are people who haven’t stabbed you in the back yet. So no, I am not ‘allied’ with any faction. I’m friendly enough with the NCR, long as they don’t go sticking their nose in my business.
7. Tell me about your best friend.
Didn’t you just hear me talking a few seconds before? I ain’t got no allies or friends, just the way I like it. So stop asking me dumb questions, before I start getting really pissed off.
8. Do you have a family? Tell me about them!
I have a family, but it ain’t none of your business who they are. Next question.
(Author’s Note: Solomon has three younger siblings, all of whom currently reside within NCR territory).
9. What about a partner or partners?
Do I look like the type of man interested in sex? Its what causes men in my line of work to get killed; they sleep around, let their guard down, and sooner than later they end up with a knife in their chest and their caps stolen.
10. Who are your enemies, and why?
Oh, the Legion easily. As much of a bastard as I am, I ain’t into the flesh trade. Unlike a lotta people, I’ve been in Legion territory; my old home town got burnt to the ground by the Legion, the only good thing those Bull fuckers have ever done. But the things I’ve seen Legion soldiers do to their captives...that shit is too much even for me, and I once curb stomped a guy’s head into the pavement til it was just red paste.
11. Have you ever heard of The Brotherhood of Steel? What do you think about them?
Yeah, I heard of them. Once all big and mighty, hoarding tech and acting all superior to everyone else. Now? Now they’re just rats, hiding in their little caves, praying no-one finds them. I would feel bad for them, if I gave a shit.
12. What about The Enclave?
*Solomon lets out a loud laugh* Oh the big bad Enclave, the boogie man of the Wasteland. All the time when I was a kid, I had to hear stories about just how scary the Enclave was, about all the horrible ways they could take me or my family away and no-one will ever see them again. Now? They’re just ghosts, a forgotten memory. So why should I be concerned about the dead, huh?
13. How do you feel about Super Mutants?
Only thing in the Wastelands uglier than me. Most of those Muties are crazier than a Jet addict going through withdrawals and deserve to be put down. Simple.
14. What’s the craziest fight you’ve ever been in?
I’ve been fighting for years, things tend to blend together for me honestly. If I had to choose...it’d have to be this fight I had years ago, with this Great Khan, I don’t even know what his name was. This fucker was hopped up on so many chems, he just wouldn’t go down. I broke his fingers, his nose, even his goddamn right knee. He just kept getting back up and charging me, screaming like a freaking lunatic. Took a bullet to the brain to finally put his ass down.
15. Have you ever fought a Deathclaw?
You know, I once knew a mercenary, name was Obu. Big guy, dumb as bricks. Fancied this girl who wouldn’t even give him the time of day. Well Obu got it into his big dumb brain that if he killed a Deathclaw and brought its head back as a trophy, then this girl would finally give a shit about him. Well when the search party finally found Obu, half of him was spread out across the ground and the other half was in a Deathclaw’s belly.
Why did I tell you that little story? Well do you think I’m as fucking stupid as Obu was? Cause you don’t fuck with Deathclaws, you give them a goddamn wide berth.
16. Do you like fighting?
If that ain’t a loaded question...*Solomon chuckles, shaking his head*. No, not really. I hate it, every fucking second of it. Reminds me of when daddy dearest forced me to fight people to the death when I was just a kid. But ya know what? I use that in my fights. That anger, that hatred, that fucking fury, into beating up anyone that gets in my way. I want them to know just how I feel, when Im kicking their teeth in.
17. What’s your weapon of choice?
Whatever I can reach for. In the mercenary business, you can’t get too attached to your weapons; shit breaks after a while. But when push comes to shove? I can always rely on my fists, unlike these other mercs who piss themselves if they don’t got their precious fancy laser weapons.
18. How do you survive? Your wits, your charm, your skills, brute force, some combination? (a.k.a. what’s your S.P.E.C.I.A.L?)
Charms? You’ve obviously never met me if you think I have any charm whatsoever. I survive cause I’ve been fighting people to the death since I was 14 and taken beatings since I was born. That enough of an answer?
19. Have you ever been in a vault? What do you think about them?
Only when I’ve been really desperate and needed the caps. Those Vaults I tell ya, they’re death traps. Just experiments meant to fuck with people, and causing everyone to end up dead. That’s all those Vaults seem to do. Now why don’t I like going in Vaults? Cause the things that killed the original Vault Dwelllers, tend to still stick around. Like when I was hired to do a job in Vault 22…let’s just say I burned the entire goddamn Vault to the ground when I was done and locked it behind me.
20. How do you beat all the radiation around here? Has it affected you?
Stock up on Radaway and Rad-X, easy. It ain’t too hard.
21. What’s your favorite wasteland critter?
Molerats; easy to kill and easy source of meat.
22. What’s your least favorite wasteland critter?
Anyone who’s a mercenary will agree with me on this; cazadores. Those fuckers pick up the scent of blood from miles away and will hunt you down til they're drinking you dry. Getting wounded out in the Wastes is a goddamn death sentence, if you’re picked up by a Cazador.
23. How do you feel about robots?
They exist. I don’t exactly trust them though; they just seem like they’re ready to kill you at any second.
24. How many caps do you have on you right now?
Oh you don’t wanna know the answer to that question. Cause if I answer it, I’mma have to put your ass to sleep.
25. Nuka Cola or Sunset Sarsaparilla?
Do I look like a kid?
26. Do you do chems?
Of course not. Chems are for fucking idiots who have more caps than common sense.
27. Do you ever think about the Pre-War world?
Why should I think about them? They’re all dead, just ghosts. Even them ghouls who still are around, they’re not even alive; they’re just shells, dead people walking who don’t know their dead yet. I don’t bother myself with the dead, I focus on the living.
28. What’s your deepest regret? What would you do differently?
I didn’t kill my dad sooner. Next question.
29. What’s your biggest achievement? Or what do you hope to achieve?
My biggest achievement? I’m still alive. Who gives a shit about what you achieve, if you’re dead?
30. What do you want for the future? For yourself? Your friends? The world?
To still be alive, although I doubt it. Mercenaries ain’t exactly got a long shelf life, ya know. But that’s a road I’ll cross when I get to it.
I tag @goblin-deity, @fewal-cowboy, @cyndercrys, @vkm11 and @crackinglamb

2 Kings 9:14-10:31, Acts 17:1-34, Psalms 144:1-15, Proverbs 17:27-28
Today is the 26th day of June. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible, I am Brian and its great to be here with you as we move through the center of the week, which I guess is why it's called hump day, we’re getting over the hump and moving to the back half of the week. But no matter what part of the week we’re in we’re always taking the next step forward through the Scriptures, which would take us back into the book of second Kings. We’re reading from the Contemporary English Version this week. Second Kings Chapter 9 verse 14 through 10 verse 31 today.
Commentary:
Alright. So, in the book of Acts we’re continuing along with Paul on his second missionary journey and we should note the way that Paul adapts what he's saying to who he's saying it to. So, in Thessalonica Paul’s in the synagogue, he’s opening the Scriptures and he's explaining how Jesus is a part of the Jewish story and a part of the Jewish heritage. And, so, many come to faith in Jesus and others are against him because they're envious or jealous and angry mob kicks Paul and Silas out of town. So, they go to Berea. Paul's in the synagogue again. The Berean’s are diligently searching the Scriptures. And, so, Paul's right there to interpret. Many come to faith, many get jealous. The they’re out of town again. So, then Paul’s in Athens where spirituality is very diverse but very open and he's talking about the unknown God because they worship many, many gods, including any unknown God that they may not have known about and Paul offers to them very concise, very simple explanation of how he sees the gospel. And, so, let’s look at that again. Let’s listen to what Paul says as if we’re in Athens and we don't have any of the background of the Bible, we don't know other than just sensing that there's a God out there. This is how Paul explains to a person who worships an unknown God. The thing is, we’ll all agree with it, we’re reading it out of the Bible. But consider, do you functionally believe this? Do you live as if this were the truth? So, Paul says, “I want to tell you about this God that you're worshiping that you don't know. This God made the world and everything in it. “He’s the Lord of heaven and earth, and He doesn't live in temples built by human hands. He doesn't need help from anyone. He gives life, breath, and everything else to all people. From one person, God made all nations who live on the earth, and He decided when and where every nation would be. God has done all this so that we will look for Him and reach out and find Him. He isn’t far from any of us and He gives us the power to live to move and to be who we are. We are His children, just to some of your poets have said. And since we are God's children must not think that He's like an idle made out of gold or silver or stone. He isn't like anything that humans have thought up and made. In the past God forgave all this because people did not know what they were doing but now He says that everyone everywhere must turn to Him. He has set a day when He will judge the world's people with fairness and He has chosen the man Jesus to do the judging for Him. God has given proof of this to all of us by raising Jesus from death.” So, there you go. We should find great comfort in that, great encouragement in that, but also put ourselves in the position of somebody who's never heard this before so that we understand the kinds of people that Paul is trying to reach and we should also notice that Paul adapts the way that he interacts with people based on who it is that he's trying to talk to, which doesn't mean he is trying to change his message, it means he's trying to enter a person's story from where they're coming from instead of trying to force-feed where he's coming from. A pretty invaluable lesson for us in this day and age.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for this simple concise truth of the gospel from the apostle Paul here in the book of Acts. It reminds us of the fact that we are Your children. We also acknowledge the fact that we don't know all that we think that we do and a posture of humility in entering into each other's stories is the way of Your kingdom. Come Holy Spirit we pray. And we ask in Jesus’ name expectantly as we surrender, as we allow You to have space and access to our hearts and our day and our actions. Come Holy Spirit we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is the website, its home base, it's where you find out what's going on around here, and there's stuff going on around here.
Coming up in less than two weeks, the 7th of July, is our annual Daily Audio Bible long walk. It's happening on a Sunday this year so it kind of makes it easier. And we do this every July 7th. It's a day to give ourselves permission to say, “look, “I'm in the middle of the year, I have journeyed halfway through this year and come to this point with the rhythm of the Scriptures being in my life.” And by now we can see what the Bible does as we put it in our lives every day. So, it’s a day to regroup and go for a long walk with the God of the Bible who is revealing himself to us through the Scriptures. Yeah, just to spend the day saying all of the things that there just aren't time to say. Like we’re just too overcommitted, too out of balance, we’re running too hard. So, we take this one day and go for a long walk, go somewhere beautiful whether near or far and go for a long walk and we can say everything that needs to be said and to allow space because the Lord has some things He's been wanting but we’re just too busy to listen. So, what if we took a day and gave it to listening and just spending time with God and appreciating that life is happening all around us and we’re ignoring it. That's the 7th of July and yeah, it’s a very individual thing, but it's also a very communal thing that we’re doing as a community all over the world. And you just take your phone. You probably have your phone or something with you anyway. Snap a picture of wherever it is you go or take a little video of wherever it is you go and post it up to our Facebook page, facebook.com/dailyaudiobible and then we’ll post them up and they become these beautiful little moments that we get to share with each other, little windows into each other's lives and where it is that we are on the planet and where it is that's beautiful where we are and we get this wonderful picture of God's beauty all over the world on one day. So, make plans for that the 7th of July.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hello, this is Christy in Korea. I am a first-time caller and I have been listening since January, but I am quite a way’s behind. I’m actually 10 weeks behind when you were at the More conference because on that Saturday I was giving birth to my first child. So, I just wanted to share that God is really awesome and I know there’s a lot of women and men out there struggling with infertility. And my husband and I were able to get fertility treatment and now we have a beautiful healthy boy after a loss last year and God…God is amazing, and I know he has a made a promise and I just wanted to__. Also, I heard there was another listening from Korea. You’re not alone. There’s another listener here and I just want to say hi. And I try to pray…I don’t pray for everyone, but I do pray for some people and I want you to know that I can’t remember who you are that I do try to pray for you and that you are being prayed for across the world. And, please pray for my husband because he is kind…I don’t know…agnostic and I see God making movements and I would just like to see him making more movements and thank you for everything you do, and I will try to catch up. Thank you.
Hey family this is Viola from Maryland I hope you’re all doing well. Brian and Jill God bless you. Family I want to encourage you to give to Daily Audio Bible. As Brian always says, this is the summer months and things always slow down during the summer months. So, give and God will bless you. Okay. Doug from Alabama, I’m praying for healing for you brother in the name of Jesus. The word of God says in Philippians 4:6 that you shall not be __ for anything but in everything that prayer and supplication make your request known to God. And, so, pray brother. As people pray for you also pray. And I pray that the peace of God who passes all understanding will flood your heart and mind and God will give you wisdom on how to take care of the __ situation. God bless you my brother. __ from New Zealand I’m praying for little baby willow. Oh, my goodness. God’s such a powerful God. I pray that God will touch this baby and heal her body. You will call back with great testimonies in the name of Jesus. Father Lord of heaven, I pray that you will arrive with healing in your wings over little Willow in the name of Jesus. __ I’m praying for favor for your brother-in-law, that you will get that wisdom. You know, God has a heart for families. I pray that Give her favor and she’ll be reconciled, she’ll be able to be with your son  __ Tyler in the name of Jesus. Rob from Canada, I am praying for Jimmy your son. I know how disheartening that can be. Lord of heaven, I pray that you will touch Jamie oh God, Father you that made the __ go away in the first place, I pray that that __ will be thing of the past in the name of Jesus, that every __ body will die in the name of Jesus because it’s…the word of God says that by the stripes of God, that by the stipes of Jesus Christ Jamie has been healed. I’m praying for you __ my sister. I pray that God will flood your business with clients in the name of Jesus. And lastly, Ben from London, I’m praying for your daughter and fellow kids, that they would do well in their __. God bless you….
Hi, DABbers this is Christchurch New Zealand calling. I really need your prayers for my brother. He is a good man but in a failed relationship with an erratic woman who has turned his two daughters against him. This has been going on for 16 years but severe in the last two and I feel that’s gonna break him. He’s strong, fit, hard-working, self-employed and continually gives to their demands to the point of them living or often going without. He wants to see his girls. There’s always a reason why he can’t. Even if he makes a date they find a reason to go out and so he doesn’t see them. He thinks about walking away but is not in him. I actually don’t know how he can still go on because it doesn’t of the Lord. So, I’m asking my DABbers if they can break every curse of his life and pray for the peace of the mind…of his mind and from the pressure that he gets in the demands of him continuing having to find work. He needs a lot of money to find each week to support the family and that there’ll be a breakthrough for his family somehow, that they’ll just be kind to him, they’d be easier on him. He’s positive and he’s always for them. So, would you pray with me please. Thank you.
Hey, God bless. This is Matthew Fouts. I’m calling from Interstate 10 in Mobile Alabama. May God bless you from the South all over the world. The Lord has a word, His word is truth and His word tells us that we must look past our present problems to see the face of Jesus. You must set aside the problems that You face every day and look for the face of Jesus. Jesus is greater than our problem. Jesus is the Lord, He is high and lifted up and we’re all facing something today, we’re all facing a giant, we’re all facing challenges. His word says to rejoice. So, we rejoice through the trials, we rejoice through the tribulations and we say that Jesus is Lord. We yield to the Father, we yield to the voice of the Father and we say, “Father, here we are. Send us.” Father, we’re here to do Your will. We believe in His son Jesus. We are covered by the blood and You are greater than any problem we shall face. Father, we thank You and we love You and we love each other in the name of Jesus. God bless you all.

Before I get into Something that's on my heart today, I want to share something with you.
I seriously considered these past 2 weeks changing this podcast to one that you need to pay for to listen to, through Patreon or Glow which partners with Libsyn the media host I use.
I've been praying for a while now that God would confirm with me that I should continue doing the podcast and that he would also show me a way I could continue to produce it in a way that it would pay for itself as well as pay me something for the time I put into it.  I'm trying to be a good steward of my personal resources and make sure that the time I put into the podcast is worth, because there's an opportunity cost with every choice we make.  I have a full-time job but outside that job I spend on average 10 hours per episode, or 40 hours every month, which of course takes from time I could be spending with my family and other things at home.  I have very low operating expenses for this podcast, about $500 per year, for 3 reasons.  The first reason is I do everything.  I don't do any outsourcing of the steps needed to plan, produce, edit and release episodes.  The second reason my operating expenses are low is that I don't pay myself and never have.  The third reason is that I don't spend any money on promotion or really anything other than producing episodes.  I'm not complaining, I love doing this podcast, but I've come to a point where I need to find a way to produce some revenue.
This past week was, I believe an answer to prayer.  I received an order from a man named Jeremy for my book Jesus is at Work - Having Joy and Purpose at Your Current Job.  As some of you know, I wrote and published this book through Tate Publishing.  I had to pay $5,000 to Tate for their publishing and for the initial purchase of books.  They didn't do really anything to sell the book and then the company went bankrupt and the leaders were arrested for fraud.  You can Google this to confirm what I'm saying.  The result is that I have a bunch of copies of my book sitting in my closet which aren't doing anyone any good and I'd love to sell them.
If you appreciate the content on this podcast and have been blessed by it and want to support what I'm doing, please buy my book Jesus is at Work.  Look it up on Amazon.com and you'll see it on sale for $15 from Spirit Led Men.  That's me a 3rd party seller.  If you buy it, I'll mail it to you and I'll get paid.  In the future, I'll have some other ways you can support this podcast, but for now if you could do that it would help me and you will be blessed by the book as well.
  Lay Hold!
Phil 3:12-14 "Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
Strongs G2638 katalambano "
to lay hold of so as to make one's own, to obtain, attain to, to make one's own, to take into one's self, appropriate
to seize upon, take possession of"
Last night watched Season 2 Episode 6 of "The Chosen" where Mary Magdalene did what Baptists would call back sliding.  She was redeemed by Jesus but felt unworthy and went back to her old life of sin and wickedness before being sought out by 2 disciples and brought back to Jesus.
It reminded me of something I learned this past year that salvation has 3 parts 1) Redemption 2) Sanctification 3) Glorification.  Redemption occurs when we're born again.  Glorification won't occur until our bodies are made perfect after we die or Jesus returns.  Sanctification is what you might call "the messy middle".
It also reminds me of another great passage from Philippians, chapter 2:11-13 where Paul says "12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."
So in this messy middle we call the life of a Christian, or more specifically for our podcast the life of a Christian man in the workplace, we are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, which for me means that we should take this very seriously and realize how incredibly important it is.  God's will is NOT for us to sit back with confidence that our ticket to heaven has been bought and we should just live our life as we choose knowing we'll eventually be with Jesus in Heaven.
Verse 14 says " Do all things without [d]complaining and disputing,[e] 15 that you may become blameless and [f]harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,"
Blameless does not mean perfect but rather that we are pursuing perfect obedience to God.
In John 17:3 Jesus says "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
Sanctification is the adventure of a lifetime, not a holding pattern until we die.  It IS eternal life, knowing God now, here, while we are on earth.
Both the Phillipians passages I've ready illustrate so well the mysterious way that God is actively involved in our lives, in our sanctification, while still expecting that we play a role in the process as well.  We are to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of us.  We are to work out our salvation because God works in us both to will and to do for our good pleasure.  Do I fully comprehend that, no.  Am I blown away by how cool it is, YES.  We don't do good to be saved.  We do good because we are saved.  And remember salvation is redemption, sanctification, and glorification.
Now I'd like to read to you the First Light devotion I got from Pastor Brian Biggers this morning that inspired me to talk about this topic for this Selah Episode.  By the way, if you haven't signed up for his devotion I recommend you do it right away.  For one thing, he just sent out an email last week indicating the church he's pastor of, Lambs Chapel, is seeking a new senior pastor because he's retiring, so go to tlcalive.com, go to the bottom where it says connect, and click on "First Light"
"I press on that I may lay hold of that for which Christ has laid hold of me."
How I love this verse and the truth that it conveys! The words "lay hold" are "arrested" in our modern vernacular. I have been arrested a few times (none recently) and I assure you it can be a rather forceful event! The Bible states here that Jesus "arrested" those of us that follow Him. Just as a policeman pursues a criminal to arrest him Jesus pursued us relentlessly to make us His. "Arresters" don't ask, and they don't take no for an answer. How thankful I am that He pursued me and "arrested" me for Himself! But, notice the rest. This verse states that He "arrested" me for something, and I am to "arrest" that which He "arrested" me for. What is it that He "arrested" me for? Heaven? Absolutely! But what about now? His Word reveals the treasury of what He has promised when I am in His family. Holy Spirit power to live, love, be at peace, have hope in my heart, live joyously regardless of circumstances among other great gifts. He promises a life of adventure as I experience His activity in me and around me. He has promised great relationships that He has planned for me. The catalog of faith benefits is almost endless! Obvious question? If He has promised all this great stuff as a result of my "arrest" by Him, where is it? I am willing to be blessed, but I don't see the goods! Go back and read the rest of the verse. You will see that His promised blessings are not automatic, nor do they fall like ripe cherries on me as a believer. What does it say? I must "press on" and "lay hold" of what my heart longs for. A passive religious attitude will leave you blessingless! (it’s a word) I hear aggression in this great Word! I hear a man saying, "if Christ died to bless me then I will go after it until I get it". I may not know how but He don't lie, and I am not going to give up on what He has promised. Do not settle (hate that word) for a less that abundant life when He died to give you something much better! Have you resigned to "getting by"? May I appeal to you from scripture? Do you not think that He who created everything beautiful from the sunset to the coastal plain to the bluebird to the smile of a newborn cannot create a beautiful life? Quit wishing and go fishing! Quit existing and start dreaming again! Decide to "lay hold" of what He died to purchase for you!
Father, forgive me for living so “little” after you planned so big. I want everything I was “arrested” for! Lead me as I press on to lay hold of your promises. Every single one of them!

Deuteronomy 4:1-49, Luke 6:39-7:10, Psalms 68:1-18, Proverbs 11:28
Today is the 25th day of March. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s great to be here with you as we dive into this workweek and sail through to the end of this week and to the end of this month and we’ll be selling through the book of Deuteronomy in the Old Testament and then the book of Luke as we continue our journey through the New Testament. So, today we will continue with Moses final discourses, the final things that he has to say to the children of Israel before he becomes a part of their history and they move across the Jordan toward the promised land. And this is what the book of Deuteronomy is. So, today we will read Deuteronomy chapter 4 and we’re reading from the Good News Translation this week.
Commentary:
Okay. So, as we talked about when we began the book of Deuteronomy, the book itself contains the final three conversations or discourses or talks that Moses had before the entire community of Israel. And, so, today we concluded the first of those three discourses and Moses was reminding the people of the fact that they were in a covenant with God and how vital it was to remember, to remember to obey the covenant. Moses said, “search the past, the time before you were born all the way back to the time when God created human beings on the earth. Search the entire earth. Has anything as great as this ever happened before? Hss anyone ever heard of anything like this?” And then Moses reiterated the fact that there’s only one God and all of the invitations that they might come into contact with throughout their generations to worship lesser things, these temptations would come but if they would remember who they were and how they got where they were and who God truly is then they will prosper in the land. I  mean, the unfortunate thing is this isn’t always going to be the story for them, but we struggle with the very same things. And, so, as we continue with the story of the children of Israel, we will continue to basically be exposing our own hearts. So, we remember Moses telling the children of Israel, “obey all of the laws that I'm giving you, all of the terms of this covenant.
And then we get into the book of Matthew and we see Jesus speaking of these same kinds of struggles. He says, “why do you keep calling me Lord, Lord, when you don't do what I say?” So, Jesus was offering teachings and a worldview that would lead people to peace and wholeness, which is what Moses was doing. And if we want this wholeness we have to remember the same things that the children of Israel to remember, the same things that Moses is trying to instill into them and into their culture going forward are the same things we have to remember - who we are, how we got here and who the one true God is -  because this is the way life is supposed to work. The problem usually happens when we want to be that sovereign God, right, when we want to fashion our own lives however we want to but then we start fashioning them in ways that will not work and then when they don't work we want to blame God, like we want don’t want to be the sovereign anymore because He's the Sovereign and it's gotta be His fault. So, when we behave like that, in ways that make us the sovereign then we have forgotten who we are, how we got here and who God is. And this has always been the human condition, right, since early in the story of Genesis almost 3 months ago now. So, these discourses in the book of Deuteronomy, they are Moses certainly saying what he needs to say, but they are also Moses pleading with the children of Israel to not forget. Jesus was doing the same thing with people of his time and both of their words are calling to us from the Bible today in our time, right now. So, in ancient, ancient times Moses is telling the children of Israel, “if you’ll listen to what I'm telling you and you will obey this I am showing you the pathway that will lead you to life and the promise, the life you were intended and created to live.” We have Jesus saying the same kinds of things to the people He was ministering to. And through that ministry we have Jesus speaking to us today telling us the same thing. So, here these words from Jesus. “Anyone who comes to me and listens to my words and obeys them, I will show you what he is like. He is like a man who in building his house, dug deep and laid the foundation on rock. The river flooded over and hit that house but could not shake it because it was well built.”
Prayer:
Jesus, it is our desire that be a description of our lives and this is all possible because You spoke this from Your own lips and the criteria is that we will listen to Your words and obey them. So, we have a role to play in this, this is a collaboration and we have to do our part knowing full well that You will do Your part. Come Holy Spirit because, as Moses was pleading with the children of Israel and as we have advanced knowledge of their story, they forget what he told them. That is our story too. We often forget who we are, how we got here, and who You are. So, come Holy Spirit, plant the words deep in our lives so that they are reverberating in our souls continually, so that we are always listening to Your words. Help us Holy Spirit. We surrender our will to You so that we might obey Your words. And the repercussions of that will be that we will be built on a firm foundation. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hi family this is his little Cherry in Canada. I wanted to thank Lisa the Encourager for leaving the…your own personal version of the Lord’s prayer on the community podcast. I was so blessed by that. It was so poetic and so beautiful. I listened to it twice. Pilate of the sky, Captain of the sea. I love that. Thank you so much and you inspired me to call and to read and entry from my journal that I wrote a while ago that just reminds me of how a beautiful and heroic Jesus is. It says, “it’s easy to give up when there’s no hope left. It’s easy to lie down when your strength is gone. But Jesus You gave up Your life when you were brimming with energy, full of potential, poised for greatness. No other man had ever been so alive. No other man had so many reasons to live. But in Your prime You stepped down from the podium, walked away from the Oscar and kissed __ full all on the mouth for me. This is the God I worship the one who makes a cross His trophy.” Thanks so much for the inspiration Lisa the encourager and all of your prayers. Thanks, so much family. I am continually blessed by this community. Isn’t Jesus beautiful? Bye for now.
Hi family, my name is Jill, I’ve called in before. __ I’m from the state of Washington and my husband is a sexual addict. This weekend we are headed to a retreat where I have been asked to speak on where I was when I found out my husband was a sexual addict two years ago and where has God taken and how He is provided for me. Obviously, I’m not completely healed otherwise by voice wouldn’t be cracking and I wouldn’t be shivering at this call but at the same time I have strength in my husband’s recovery, in watching him work his program and I want to tell spouses out there, there is hope, there is…there are programs that men and women can become involved in and help them become who God intended them to be. Please pray for me family. I know this will air after I speak but I am…I’m afraid, I don’t want to make somebody stumble. I don’t want to cry in front of colleagues. I want to be clear in the message of Jesus Christ and who He is and who I have come to lean on. It’s not that I have __ body image but that I am a sister, I am a child of God. Thank you, family. Please pray for me.
Good morning DAB family this is Steve from Utah it is 536 in the morning I’m on my way to work. I dropped the babies off before going to work and I was listening to the Daily Audio Bible today, the 22nd of March and I heard, I believe it was Dash from Indiana. And Dash said, from Indiana, I got his message, talked about __ worthlessness and hopelessness and depression and suicide. And I just wanted…I had to just stop and immediately and call because I was hearing myself. I mean, I struggled with a lot of those same things my friend. Just with those feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness ,you know, thought’s of suicide even though I wouldn’t go to it, you know, same thing, I wouldn’t go through it either but those feelings are miserable __ . Same thing, struggling with a job that’s not ideal to be away from my family for __ hours a day sometimes where I don’t get to see them for long stretches and its very, very disheartening. So, I just wanted to pray for you brother because I don’t know what else to do. It’s just when I’m in those situations that I know that prayer works, and I know a lot of people __ are praying for you. So, God I just want to reach out. Thank You so much for everything You do for us Lord and for just for the simple fact that even when we don’t feel it You don’t give up on us and I just want to pray for Dash and just wanted Your of comfort over him and his family, just let them know that he’s not alone and that he always has You and to do not give up. __. Dash, I love you brother. Amen. I’ll be praying for you every day. Bye-bye.
Hey fellow DABbers this is Joe the Protector from Georgia here. It’s Friday March 22nd at 803 in the morning. I just got finished listening to the podcast a few moments ago and just wanted to call in because I heard I believe it was Dash from Indiana and brother I heard your cry, your plea on your call in and…man…I just…I didn’t I didn’t feel pity for you, I felt empathetic…I just…I’ve had the thoughts of, you know, not being able to provide for my family or thinking I’m not but my family’s always been provided for, thank the Lord, you know, but as far as the thoughts of just pure depression, wanting to lock myself away, and with suicidal thoughts, I really have never had those so I can’t…I can’t relate so much there but as for the other I can. You know, I’m always thinking, man I’m not providing enough for my family but like I said, the Lord has always provided for me. So, I just wanted to call and, you know, pray over you and give you hope and just to let you know that the Lord is our hope. Jesus has paid the price for us not to feel those things and not to…not to act out in those emotions but I’ll give you prayer. Dear heavenly Father, we just come to You right now and give praise and honor and glory to You Father God. We lift Your name up. And Father God, I just thank You for Dash right now and I just pray that You pour hope into his life Father God, pour joy into his life Father God, allow him to speak and __ after You so You just provide all those…
Good morning Daily Audio Bible this is…or Daily Audio Bible family, this is Bridget from New York City. Today is March 22nd. I just finished listening to Brian Read the Numbers Scriptures and talks about murders, you know, premeditated and accidental death and I just want to share… When my son-in-law was killed my daughter said that the guy, his name is Michael and the other kid involved is Thomas, looked at my daughter. And when I prayed about it I was really angry for a long…for a little bit, you know, with God of course, but when I prayed about it the Lord brought me to John the Baptist and how John was beheaded, you know, from one moment of the next and, you know, God started softening my heart. And it just…he brought me to a place of, you know, where this young man killed my son-in-law by accident basically. The intent wasn’t to kill him, the intent was to scare him. I don’t know how __ that is but I know I was a sinner. I know what I’ve done. I know the poor decisions I’ve made, and that God has kept me from being incarcerated or homeless or dead or just…so many things that I’ve done. And I just want to ask everybody to pray for these two young men involved., for Michael and Thomas. I don’t think they killed him. I really feel like it was an accident and, unfortunately, they still have to pay, but please lift them up, okay, Michael and Thomas. Thanks.

How to make small talk and other advanced social skills
Does any of this sound familiar?
“I hate small talk, let’s just get to the point…”
“We started small talk and then there was this long awkward pause…”
“I had no idea how to start the conversation so I just sat there silently”
Small talk. Ugh.
But, I do have good news: Small talk is a skill. And just like any other skill, you can become more natural at it with practice. Thousands of my students have improved their social skills (especially if they weren’t “naturals” in social situations).
Today, I’m going to give you word-for-word scripts to help you start this process. Eventually, you’ll be able to set these scripts aside and make them your own — letting your own personality shine through.
How to Make Small Talk at a Glance

Instant Irresistibility: Why Making Small Talk is Important
Why even master small talk? Wouldn’t it be easier to get straight to the “important part” of the conversation?
Let me tell you a story about my friend who’s an actress. We were talking about how she’d gone on a bunch of dates and the guys always fell in love with her. They had an instant rapport with her and felt the connection was incredibly deep after meeting her for an hour.
What they failed to understand was that she’s so socially skilled, she’s able to evoke this feeling of awe in most people she interacts with. She’s being totally transparent and ethical, but her social skills are so advanced that they bring out the best version of herself — making her almost irresistible.
The first step to reaching this level of social skills is to master a fool-proof conversation opener.
The 3 openers that work for 90% of situations
Here are 3 scripts that work in nearly any situation. I’m giving you the exact words.
“Hi. How’s your morning going?”
“Hi. I don’t think we’ve met. I’m Ramit.”
“Good morning. How are you?”
Seem too simple?
That’s intentional! Notice how ordinary they are. The truth is, we’re not searching for magic words. We’re simply looking for a way to connect and build rapport.
It’s easy to “nod and shrug…” and then go back to what you’ve always done (which probably doesn’t include comfortably talking to anyone you’d like to talk to).
Or you can try something new. Use these scripts — starting today — and see how they evoke positive responses in others around you.
How many times have we walked past doormen, bartenders, people on the street, baristas and used our phones to avoid small talk?
We can change that starting today. Just a small baby step — say hello! Use just one of these openers to start a conversation with a stranger today.
How to Practice Small Talk: Low Stakes Experiments
The general openers above are great “easy outs” when you’re struggling to think of something to say.
But the hardest part isn’t having something to say. It’s having the confidence to actually do it. One of the best ways to build that confidence is to start very short conversations in low-stakes environments.
I’ll show you what I mean. Here are a few scripts to help practice your small talk skills with baristas and clerks.
Scenario #1: Servers and Baristas Servers and baristas are paid to be friendly, so this is a low-stakes situation. Just be aware of your environment: For example, don’t make your first small-talk attempt when there’s a line of 50 people behind you.
They’ll ask how you’re doing, and what you’d like to order. Instead of ordering your “regular” (in my case, a tall iced green tea, unsweetened), smile first, then try this instead:
“What’s good? (“Everything!”) “No really, what do you get when no one’s looking?”
From here, you can order their suggestion (“That sounds good, I’ll try it”) or stick to your usual (“Cool, I’ll have to try that next time”).
Non-offensive, safe-for-work jokes can add value too, but test your delivery before trying it:
“Have you ever purposely misspelled someone’s name on the cup because you didn’t like them?”
“Seriously, what’s the craziest order you’ve gotten this week?” (Notice how “this week” helps them narrow down the question so they can answer it easily. You do not want to be asking deep philosophical questions at this stage of the game!)
Smile and keep the tone light. This is fun! Treat it like a game and watch what happens.
Scenario #2: Checkout Clerks Most checkout clerks are treated like cogs in the machine. By taking a few extra seconds to make a genuine connection, you’re automatically standing out because the bar is set so low.
“Do you get a discount as an employee?”
[Pick up a tabloid] “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone buy one of these. Do you sell a lot?”
Try one or create your own questions based around it. Remember to listen to their response, smile, and keep moving on.
The point here is that easy micro-tests in low-stakes environments like coffee shops and stores give you valuable practice and confidence you can apply to higher-pressure situations like conferences or bars.

The invisible costs of poor social skills
But what happens if your social skills are just average?
Sometimes, it seems the people who don’t recognize the importance of social skills are the people who need it MOST:
She’ll never know what she missed.
How many of us go through this every day? The scary thing is, we’ll never know what we missed out on because of poor social skills. Those opportunities simply cease to exist.
For example…
We don’t talk to that girl at the bar, then kick ourselves later. Add this up over years and we end up getting our “second pick” of partners — not the ones we WANT, but the ones who are convenient or left over.
We stagnate in making new friends, since it’s hard to meet real friends after college. Especially if you’re not going out a lot.
We might be technically very skilled, but we bomb the interview, or get passed over for a promotion, or we’re not in the “inner circle” of people at work whom the boss favors.
There are even more haunting examples of the consequences of having mediocre social skills:
I have friends who thought earning enough would be enough to attract a partner. They’ve spent the last 5-10 years on their career, but never took the time to learn how to talk to men and women on a personal level. (A lot of Indian people are like this, actually.) Now what? They’ve got great jobs and lots of money in the bank, but they’re missing a core skill — and as a result, the pool of potential high-caliber partners is way smaller than for someone else.
One of my friends runs a successful tech company and was considering acquiring a small 1-man company. After a night of drinking, he asked me what I thought of the guy. He’s a good friend so I told him the brutal truth: I told him that the guy was way too cocky for his experience, I wouldn’t want him on my team, and I told him exactly why. My friend canceled the acquisition the next day. That guy will never know that his social skills cost him a 7-figure payday.
What do all these missed opportunities add up to over 10 years? 30 years?
If you learned even ONE technique to improve your social skills — something you can use every day while talking to co-workers, men, women, even random people on the street — what would that be worth?

Introducing My “Small Talk” Hacks Video
I created a new video for you, a 30-minute crash course on improving your social skills. I didn’t want to just offer you one or two random “tips.” I wanted to go deeper.
The video includes easy scripts for starting a conversation, keeping it going, and politely ending conversations (even with ramblers). I also included a live social-skills teardown about how to make small talk, plus the powerful concept of the Story Toolbox.

TO DO TODAY
In the video at 16:57, I described the Story Toolbox, a Dream Job concept that lets you walk into any interaction — a job interview, bar, or cocktail party — and instantly have 5-10 stories to use at any given moment.
Top performers know that by having these stories ready to use — stories that consistently get positive reactions — they can instantly connect with anyone.
Today, I want you to start building your Story Toolbox.
Here’s your challenge:
Brainstorm ONE engaging story (like my story about the recovering alcoholic at the bar), then test it on 1 person — a friend, family member, coworker, even a stranger.
In the comments below, share the story (just an excerpt) and the reaction you got. It’s OK to get a negative reaction! Share whatever you find below.
