You looked to Grim at your feet. "Looks like it's just us, buddy."

It was just you and Grim browsing through the dollar store, when a boy in a ratty shop apron came up to you. "Ma'am?"

You turned to him, and he coughed. "Uh, Miss. You're not supposed to have pets in the store."

Grim bristled at him. "I'm not a pet!"

Poor kid, he looked so startled. And you decided to make it worse, because yanno, why not. "How dare you refer to my son as a pet! Does he look like a pet to you?"

He looked between your face and Grim's, confusion growing. "Wh-"

"I know the resemblance isn't the strongest, but honestly! How could you say such mean things about him!"

Grim, bless him, actually caught on and decided to play along for the chaos of it. "Why are you being so mean to me? My mom works hard to keep me happy! She said I could pick out a toy today!"

The confusion had turned to anger. "That's not your kid! You're too young and he's an animal!"

Grim looked up at you, mock tears in his eyes. "I'm your kid, right? I'm not adopted like the boys at school say?" He started sniffling. "I'm not adopted, right?"

You clapped your hands over Grim's ears and glared at the now horrified shopboy. "Look what you've done! I hadn't told him yet!"

He just fled in horror, and it was all you could do to keep from laughing.

The village on the island wasn't the worst appointed. Being equidistant between two prestigious magic schools, it had a few places worth going, and after hitting up your personal favourite, you went to a small park, settled down on a bench, and started unwrapping your prizes.

You have a love for gashapon machines that bordered on a serious problem. In your biweekly trips to buy snacks and supplies to stock up your miserable, beautiful dorm, you easily fed 3000 madol (which you think was about thirty-five dollars or so at home, but couldn't be sure) into the long rows of machines in the drug store, coming out with tiny keychains, figures, and various useless but wonderful little totchkes that you kept lined up in rows in your bedroom. The joys of tiny presents! And the containers were useful too; for a creature who heavily insisted he wasn't a cat, Grim lost his shit like one every time your rolled a ball with a bell inside across the floor.

You were marveling over a tiny, perfectly realistic jellyfish on a phone strap as someone sat down heavily beside you. "Is that," they pointed to Grim poking his way around the cattails by an ornamental pond, "yours?"

"... Yes?" You turned to examine your seatmate. Charmingly strange looking, they sat impeccably robed in forest green velvet and squinted at you from behind perfectly round sunglasses. Flat-faced and thin-lipped, they reminded you of a toad, with their roundness and severe expression.

"Ah, then you are the one I am looking for. You're the pet of the prince."

"I'm a friend of his. Is that a problem?" You decided to keep opening your prizes, and pulled out a heavy ball from the bottom of your bag.

"His Highness does not have human friends."

"And yet, I am." This one, unwrapped, was the chase in the set: a tiny cauldron the size of a thimble that seemed to be actual cast iron. The chill of it was pleasant in your hand, and instead of returning it to your bag, you left it in your lap.

This presumptive stranger leaned in. "You're a diversion. A distraction from what he should be learning. Instead he plays with mortals and lets them forget their place."

"If it was so important that he didn't play with mortals, then why was he allowed to attend here?" You got a cheap set of rings on a goldtone chain in this one. Boo. You'd wanted the miniature necklace of the set for your doll. "He's very happy with the company of us all."

"Too happy. He forgets his place." The toady eyed the glittering paste gems before looking away. "Above you. Instead he crawls into your lap and serves you like a dog."

You froze. "Now, where did you get that idea?"

"We have sources." They leaned in further, smiling. A barely perceptible line of triangular teeth, sparsely placed and translucent in tone. "Foul things happen to the unwanted lovers of heirs, don't you know?"

"I am a wanted friend." 

"You're a parasite who should flee."

You realized something, and turned to face your strange benchmate. "Why are you threatened by me?"

They scoffed. "Why would we be threatened by you?"

"If you weren't," you said, dropping your voice as your leaned in, "then you wouldn't be here trying to put the fear into me." They leaned back, glasses slipping off their nose. The eyes in their face were exquisite, shining gold and black speckles with a ring of gold around an oval pupil. You could help but laugh. "Pretty eyes. You really are a toad. Who sent you? The Thorn Witch? Can't be, I'm not worth her time and if I was, she'd've sent a fucking letter."

"We're a concerned party, preventing our future king from making the mistake of dealing with filth." 

Well, that one pissed you off. You grabbed their wrist, feeling bumps and warts on their skin through the fabric, and pressed the tiny cauldron to the back on their hand as they started screeching.

"You," you looked them dead in their impossibly lovely eyes, "You go back where you came from, tell them I'm not a threat to whatever stupid bullshit they're worried about, and never bother us again. Or I will make you swallow this and you'll beg the precious prince you're so damned worried about to burn you alive to stop the pain."

You'd never seen anyone run so fast in your life when you let them go.

"Hey, Grim! We gotta go."

"I should have done worse! Whoever the fuck they were, that's two friends they've tried to threaten to stay away from you! That we know of!"

It turns out that the mystery toady had been the person to scare the piss out of Idia the night before. Not that they'd gotten far into their leave-the-prince-alone spiel, Idia had simply kicked them square in the stomach and fled, assuming another kidnapping attempt.

"It wouldn't have been my grandmother. In the last letter I got from her, she said it was very nice that I was making friends. She said to keep making them, even."

"She'd probably care if she knew you were sleeping with said friends." Idia was curled into the corner of his bed, and from the looks of it hadn't slept since his own encounter.

"No she wouldn't."

"You sure about that?"

You'd said that that was only going to happen once. Everyone agreed. But when all three of you settled in to play a game or watch a movie, hands moved and bodies flushed and you all seemed to find yourself tangled and gasping. And it didn't seem to require all three of you - you no longer had the strength to say no to Mal's obvious advances, and you'd walked in on your boys more than once. At least you were still friends? Really, really close friends?

"She wouldn't."

"Could they be worried about heirs?" That seemed logical. Even if no accidents were happening, they might not know that.

"That's not possible."

You raised an eyebrow. Everything worked right, and you all knew it.

Mal looked back at you. "Yuu, I hatched from an egg. I could have you both five times a day for a decade and all there would be to show for it is you couldn't walk. I cannot have children with either of you without magical intervention."

Idia made a truly impressive death rattle before mumbling something about the end of his bloodline, and you just nodded. "Makes sense."

"It's quite interesting, really, it requires numerous spells and potions, that if not kept up on, the babe will-" Malleus placed his hands together, back to back, and mimed the motion of tearing something open.

You flinched. "That's awful, goddamn."

"I have a direct ancestor who took a great deal of human women as breeding stock and simply let them be eaten from the inside out. That's what started one of the earlier human/faerie wars." 

"... Wow."

"I am not proud of her."

"Can we please talk about anything else?" Idia looked ready to be sick. "I don't want to think about any of this."

"Sure, let's grab one of your doujins."

"So you're already engaged?"

"As soon as it was clear I would survive to adulthood, yes. Idia, what is this series?"

"Nyan Neko Sugar Girls. It's not that great storywise, but it has great gags." He reached over and grabbed the next one in his pile. "It's not that unusual. My mother wanted Ortho to marry my cousin Alecto when they grew up, before..."

"Before he made a lifestyle change?" That seemed the politest way to put it.

"Before she went to the criminal ward."

You shut your book with a soft thump. "What?"

"I remember the trial." Mal sighed. "Strychnine in the sugar bowl at Sunday dinner. I made sure to get the newspapers sent to the palace."

"Mother was heartbroken over it, until she realized that the wealth of that entire Shroud branch defaulted back to us." Idia shrugged. "It's sad. She was just eleven. I still send her emails."

"Idia."

"Mm?"

"Why the fuck would an eleven year old poison someone?"

"My uncle said she couldn't get a puppy until her grades went up."

"What the fuck." You'd lie down if you weren't already doing so.

"It's the curse." He sighed. "We thought she might've been from an affair? But that proved it."

"My dearest Shroud, you can't guarantee it was from the curse." Malleus turned a page. "It might have been trauma from her mother's death."

You could see more bad history incoming. "Oh no."

"Alecto was from Uncle Jo's first marriage, to my dad's cousin Alita. She had a sister, but when her mother drowned herself, she only took-"

"Is this normal for your family? Or is that just some exceptional bad luck?"

He leaned in, lamplight eyes flashing. "Out of all the Shrouds of my generation that are still capable of inheriting, I'm the most mentally sound."

Both you and Mal had to stop and really consider the implications of that.

"So, Mal. Yours isn't that closely related?"

"Fifth cousins at most when they're finally born."

You sat up. "What?"

"I'm supposed to marry the third grandchild of the Hollyoak Baron. They're a well-respected family, and of snake fae descent so little aid will be needed for conception. His eldest child is in..." He had to think about what words to use. " I believe the term is 'middle school'?"

"They really planned it that far ahead?"

Mal shrugged, the movement rolling down his whole body. "I cannot complain. It gives me a very long time to learn how to be a husband before I have to be one."

"But what if you don't like them?"

"Marriage is chiefly a contract to produce heirs. I'll learn to like them, and ideally love them."

"And if you don't?"

"I'll still treat them as kindly as I can."

"And I suppose you'd take a lover."

"Maybe. They can too, as long as all the children are mine. For legal reasons," he added.

Idia, snapping out of his thoughts, tapped Mal's shoulder. "Does the Hollyoak Baron have any friends who are toad faeries?"

It was Mal's turn to sit up. "That... He could be worried that if I have favourites at school, I'll resent my betrothed for not being either of you. Or that I would attempt to break it off entirely."

"That still doesn't tell us how he found out about..." You gestured around the room.

Idia rolled his eyes. "All that would have to happen is any one student from the Valley of Thorns writing a letter home."

"But -"

"Malleus, you're not shy in your affections. At all."

"Yes I am," he bristled.

"Mal?"

"Mmph?"

"You have to put me down. I have class."

He made a slightly different mmph and shook his head.

You tried to pat his head, but your arms were securely pinned to your sides. "I know they're fantastic, but you have to stop."

He still refused to remove his face from your chest, making a noise that could have been purring if it cane from anyone who was a proper mammal.

"Mal, we're blocking traffic."

He still wasn't putting you down, instead swaying slightly in place.

A familiar long-fingered hand with dark nails reached from behind you and tugged at Mal's lapel. "Malleus, please stop, it's ten AM and everyone is staring."

Mal finally put you down - only to switch targets, wrapping his arms around Idia's waist and pulling him flush, fixing him with such a look of besotted fondness that you immediately felt like you were intruding.

"You look beautiful today."

Idia immediately burst into a ball of pink flame.

Idia stared up at his ceiling. "You'd be at home in my otome games."

You chimed in. "What would be obvious, in your mind?"

"Very easy. I finish the paperwork declaring you Lord and Lady of the Bedchamber and have you officially ensconced as Court of Thorns royalty, ensuring you're both taken care of for the rest of your days."

"... Finish?"

"It seemed the easiest thing to do if either of you chose to visit my homeland."

You swatted his leg. "And you didn't think to ask us first?"

Mal was starting to clue in that he had once again overreached himself. "... Surprise?"

"I'm okay with it."

You glared over at Idia. "That's not the point."

"Look, if I ever get disinherited, I have a place to go. He won't make me go outside if I don't want to. I'll bring Ortho. It'll be great."

"They don't even have dial-up over there, Idia. Lilia told me he had to get all this stuff installed to play his MMOs."

Idia pointed at Mal, easy smile turned to outrage. "How dare you try and trap me!"

Snakes only bite

Your senior prom. It's suppose to be one of the one of the greatest nights of your life. Some girls plan it more than their own wedding. The perfect accessories. The perfect shoes. The perfect dress. And of course, the perfect date.

Betty thought she had all of that. She thought she was gonna have the perfect night. And yet, she found herself crying on the floor of her bedroom.

She had decided to go with Jughead Jones. Yes, he was a bad boy and known as a risk. She had always found him alluring and she always had a good time with him. So, instead of going with one of the many guys that had asked her, she decided to go with the young serpent king. Too bad it would backfire.

Around 7 o' clock,  she walked into the gym. It was decorated wall to wall with violet cloths which had white fairy lights strung along the walls. Long tables with linens that matched the walls. Each of the seven tables had about 8 chairs on each side. There was a long purple isle from the door to the stage. And there was a huge dance floor that glowed a purple color. Clearly it was decorated by miss Veronica Lodge.

Betty and Jughead decided to just meet up at the school because the only form of transportation he had was his bike. And since she didn't want to ruin her dress, she decided just to take her own car. Maybe that was her biggest mistake.

She looked all around the gym, but he was no where to be found. She asked around, but no one had seen him. She found it peculiar but decided to wait a bit. Giving him the benefit of doubt. Thinking maybe he was just a little late.

Eventually, two hours passed. People were dancing and having a great time with their dates and friends. She was trying to. But, she was getting anxious and felt pathetic waiting around for her date. But, there was a topper to the cake. And this was just the icing.

The time to crown the prom royalty. Betty was sure she had it in the bag since she was the head of the cheer team. And she did. Unfortunately, when her name was called for prom queen, her king still hadn't shown. So, she stood there. On that stage, giving the brightest of smiles even though she was only filled with doubt.

Jughead's runner up, archie andrews ending up becoming king and they shared a dance. The entire time they swirled around in circles around the dance area, her mind was somewhere else. She couldn't help but think about how she would rather be dancing with Jughead than the carrot top.

After the dance, she ran out of the gym. She ran outside and got into her car. She practically sped her way over to the Southside. She normally didn't like going into snake territory after dark, but she was pissed off. And this man better have had a good reason for standing her up.

She sped into the trailer park, surely kicking up gravel. Not that she cared, her mind was only other things. She had always liked him and she really wanted to get to know him. They were both going to new york for college next year. So they would've actually had a chance without the weight of Riverdale's civil weighing them down.

She parked in front of the grey dingy trailer. The blonde woman climbed out of the car, slamming the door behind him. Honestly, she wanted him to hear it. She wanted to hear the angry clicks of her heels. She was pissed off and with good reason. Yet, she hadn't had any clue just how upset she would be.

She knocked on the door and waited a bit. She began to hear a lot of steps and loud voices. She peeked into the window, completely unaware of what she was going to see. But when she did, it completely shattered any thought of them making things work in the future.

Her green orbs observed the dumpy living room. There was another woman with him. The woman's upper body was only covered by a bra. Jughead was half naked. The rest of their clothes thrown across the room, a lamp on the floor. It was clear what they had been doing. It was clear what he had rather been doing some random ass woman than going to a dance with her.

The shock, the hurt, the disappoint, the anger. It was all over her face. Her jaw clenched as she couldn't help but stare with wide eyes for a minute.

Then, he turned his head and he caught her eyes. She didn't stay around long enough to see his reaction. She just wanted to go home. She stormed back into her car. And just like that, she was gone faster than she had came.

It took jughead a little longer than it should've before he decided to come  check up on her. After everything, he didn't know wether or not he should've. He had been such an asshole and he was sure that she didn't want anything to do with him after the night he had gave her. But, he gathered up all of his courage and eventually found himself riding up to her house.

His blue eyes looked up at the red and white two story dwelling. He contemplated for a moment just turning back home. But, he pushed that thought to the back of his head and found himself going up the back way. The andrews always had a ladder so he used it to get to her bedroom window.

He looked inside the pastel bedroom. He quickly spotted the girl on the floor. She still wore the beautiful lilac dress, even as she cried in a fetal position. He gulped as he felt his heart quench at the sight. He sighed before he knocked on the window.

He watched as the girl jumped a bit out of shock. She looked in his direction, anger quickly taking over her face. He watched as she stormed over, opening the window.

"Why are you here?" She asked him with a raised brow.

He looked up at her, bitting his lip. He didn't know what to say to her. He looked down before looking back up into her eyes. He couldn't help but notice her smeared mascara. "I.. I um, can i come in?" He asked her.

She scoffed a bit but gestured for him to come in. " yeah, sure whatever." She said, walking over to her mirror and pulling her hair into a bun.

Jughead nodded and climbed into her bedroom. He had been in the pink room many times before. But never Without Betty all over him. Not that he ever complained. In fact, he preferred it to her simply tolerating his presence in her bedroom.

She turned around in the vanity chair, looking at him with a glare. "So, why weren't you?"

He sighed softly. He didn't have a real excuse. His best bet was the truth. "We were at the wrym. Me and my friends were hanging. And all of a sudden, this new girl came into the bar. And she came over to me. One thing led to another and." He said.

She nodded. "And you decided that you would've rather screwed her than to keep your promises. Got it."

Jughead sighed and shook his head. "No. I." He started but just sighed.

"You what?" Betty asked, standing up from the chair and looking up at him.

He looked down, he couldn't bare to meet her eyes. Instead, he watched the purple rug across her floor. His eyes traced the little purple and pink flowers.

Betty raised a brow as she watched him. She shook her head. "God dam, jughead jones. Why do you have to be such an âsshole?" She asked him. There was no response. "Why do i have to be so stupid?" She muttered as she ran her hands over her face.

Jughead glanced back up at her. "Betts.. You're not. I am. I'm sorry, okay? I'm an idiot. I just.. I didn't want to go your stupid little stereotypical northside party." He mumbled.

He took a moment to let her rambling words sink in. She loved him. Never in his life would he thought that she would love him. Yet, he had suppressed the same feelings. Maybe that was why he asked her to the dance. But he was scared. Because he was almost certain that she would never return those feelings. So, he sabotaged things. Because it seemed easier than being shot down. He felt the guilt on his shoulders. The guilt weighed so much. If he was in water, he would've drown by now. But, he was once more brought to reality when betty said something.

"I think you need to go." Betty told him, chewing on her bottom lip.

Jughead looked up at her. He was filled with sorrow and regret. "Betts, please don't make me go." He said, his voice cracking a bit. He wasn't used to vulnerability. But, he felt like he was on the verge of tears.

Betty didn't answer him, she didn't even look at him. She turned her head away from him and refused to meet his eyes. Her jaw clenched as she tried to contain herself.

Jughead sighed, but he had got the message. He looked at her. "I'm sorry, truly." He whispered, patting her shoulder. His heart breaking with each step he took away from her.

Betty looked back at him. She grabbed his hand before he could too far. She turned him around and pulled him into a deeply passionate kiss. She cupped his cheeks as she kissed him.

Jughead breathed but kissed her back. He was confused, but he grabbed her waist and pulled her closer to him. Though, before he even knew it, the kiss was over.

She pulled away from him, letting her arms fall to her side after she peeled his hands off her waist.

Jughead looked at her with utter confusion. Talk about mixed signals. "Um.. Why?"

Betty simply smiled at him. " I just want to remind you of what you could've had. What you let go. And i hope to good she was a good enough fück to let me go." The blonde told him with narrowed eyes. "Now run along, you dirty snake." She muttered.

He gulped and continued on to the window, climbing out. He watched as she slammed the window behind him. "I love you, princess." He whispered before he continued down the ladder. Perfection was his. And he let it slip through his fingers. That would forever live with him.

The da grew up as a poor country kid who worked thier whole life to get into a good college. Eventually they succeeded and landed in one of thier states best colleges where they majored in law, this is where they met damein and actor who lived on the same dorm floor. They three were a trio for thier whole time there. Over time da started feeling those not so straight thoughts for damien. Da also met the guys before him. William and da got along well both seen as strange, celine however not so much

Weather they got off on the wrong foot is unclear but the two have a strong distaste for one other. Celine didnt quite enjoy how cutthrought da was in thier practice and da thought celine was messing with things she shouldn't (magic ya know?) Anyway this did cause a bit of unease in the group till they just decided to keep the two separate.

The last year of college da confessed to damein and the two got together much and soon celine got with mark. So now the two are even more at odds. Scince das dating celines brother and celine is dating das best bud.

Anyway years go by and the group all do great in thier respected fields, damein and da get secretly engaged (gay marriage is a no no in the 20s as we all know) and move to the rim of the town. Life is sweet until bam! The tragic cheating plot.

Once da finds out celine broke thier best freinds Heart and their fiance coverd it up thier quite angry. Da spends days with mark making damien a bit jealous until he finally get da to give mark alone time. That time leads to the entity influence and the party plot.

Party plot we all know. They arrive, people die, bodies get snatched and da is trapped by dark in a mirror. But there aren't any entities in the home anymore..leaving the da truly alone. They spends years trapped repeting the party in thier mind trying to justify why anyone would do something like that and break. Left over demonic house magic and da pure emotion leads to da being the new entity, left alone they plot revenge against everyone..

Then one day an unsuspecting man wanders in, da steals his body, drops thier title going to y/n and sets off to find actor. They find him and after making some soft lie about how they got out convince actor to let them stay. While staying with actor the begin thier own revenge.

They convince actor they've forgiven him and feed into his god/hero complex only making actor worse but y/n can deal. Soon y/ns got actor convinced that y/ns his willing love interest. (Y/n does still care for everyone but they're trying to repress that under all the hurt) actor and y/n are now a very unhealthy power couple going on to many adventures where y/n tricks actor into thinking hes leading when y/as really calling the shots.

Dark and y/n meet again throwing y/n into a wierd emotional state before they start playing jerk.

So to put it simply....y/n was hurt by two people they loved deeply and while they do still care for them, the demonic magics got them caught up in thier revenge. Really though y/n just dosent want to be left again. They convince actor there together so hell never leave and feed his ego to keep him happy while the run off to play snake and mongoose with thier ex dark. Fighting thier want for revenge with thier feelings.

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019:

Jason Lewis sold Brian, Zach and I a map.  He says if we follow it, it will lead us to "The ruins of a forgotten civilization."  I thought he was full of shit but Zach and Brian seemed really interested.  We all chipped in $10 for the map so I hope he wasn't pulling our legs.  Brian thinks it's legit though, he says the area the map leads to is where a bunch of people think an old settler village used to be, apparently his dad was telling him about that recently and his dad would know, he works down at the museum.  So, Brian, Zach and I decided to talk to our parents about the two of them staying the weekend here, our parents finally said yes after they took forever to call each other.  Now, all we gotta do is figure out what to take on our trip.

Friday, October 4th, 2019:

Brian and Zach came over after school today, my mom made us do homework right away but afterward, we started getting our backpacks ready for the morning.  Our parents don't know we're doing this cause I doubt they'd let us go so we're leaving pretty early, my parents usually sleep in on Saturdays but we still wanna be out of the house and at the woods before they even realize we're gone.  I'm gonna be carrying most of the real supplies while the others have snacks and drinks.  We didn't know exactly what to take so we just grabbed a bunch of stuff from my dads supplies of camping/outdoors supplies.  I did make sure to get his compass though, thought that might come in real handy.  Speaking of those snacks though, me and the guys went to the store yesterday and bought as much stuff as we could afford, not all of it is for the trip though were saving some for the after party.  I should probably go to sleep, need to be up early.  Tommorow's entry will be amazing, I just know it.

Saturday, October 5th, 2019:

Today was fucking insane.  The three of us got up early like planned and got ready, we were out of the house and to the woods by the time the sun started to rise.  It took us about four hours to get to the village.  There wasn't much left of it, mostly just foundations left but there were a few walls and remnents of chimneys.  Brian was taking a lot of notes, he was the most excited, Zach and I lost interest after half an hour or so, we wanted to go back but Brian kept insisting we stay.  I now wish we hadn't litened to him.  Brian wanted to try and map out the village, something about it helping his father and the others at the museum, so Zach and I started wandering around.  We played a couple games, stopped for lunch with brian and the three of us got back to doing what we'd be doing.

It was about this time, approximately noon, that things started to get serious.  Zach and I had been messing around in the stream next to the village when we decided to follow it up the way it was coming, after ten minutes we found a graveyard.  We didn't realize what it was at first, most of the headstones had been grown over or broken, and the carvings on the visible ones had been worn away over the years.  It wasn't until Brian joned us that he realized what we'd found.  

I felt kinda sad being there, the place hadn't been kept properly, like a graveyard should.  Lost and forgotten to time, no one to mourn them, no one to miss them, even their names had been consumed by time.  Brian had wandered off to take note on the churchs foundation while Zach had decided to "Pour one out for the fallen homies"  I felt like I was the only one who was really aware of where we were.  I started walking around trying to find just one headstone that was legible.  Toward the back of the graveyard was a small headstone that caught my eye, I could make a a few letters on it, running my fingers over it I could feel the other letters were just barely there, an idea struck me.  I called Brian over and asked for a piece of paper and his pencil, using the two to make a rubbing the name appeared, Emeline Wallace.  The date on her headstone told me she'd died young, 17 years old.  And as I sat there, listening to Zach and Brian arguing about something somewhere behind me I started to talk to Emeline.  I didn't know who she was or what kinda life she'd had, and I certainly didn't know what had killed her, but there in that abandoned graveyard, I felt like the last person she had.  So I talked, and I cried, and I even sang, sitting ther for I don't even know how long until a hand landed on my shoulder.  Brian had gotten all the notes he needed and was ready to go, I said goodbye to Emeline.  

But here's the thing, as we were leaving we heard this noise, like a grunting as if someone was straining with something.  I looked back and there she was, crawling her way out of the very grave I'd been sitting at, Emeline.  I can't explain it and I certainly don't expect anyone to belive me.  I don't think Brian or Zach would've belived me if they hadn't have been there.  The three of us had frozen when we saw her, but as soon as she'd gotten to her feet and steaded herself Zach snapped out of his trance.  He yelled for us to run and grabbed our arms to pull us along with him as he started off, as soon as we were in motion my legs switched to auto pilot.  I was still processing what I'd seen and barely realized I was manuvering myself flawlessly trough the woods.  After some time of running we slowed, we had no idea if she was even following us anymore but we did know we were lost.  It was also at that moment I realized I'd lost my dads compass.  Eventually, we made our way out of the woods with the position of the sun and hurried on back home.  Now I'm just sitting in bed fighting sleep, you'd think it would be hard to sleep after that experience but with all said and done I'm exhausted.  I can only bet Brian and Zach were too, they passed out almost as soon as they laid down.  I hope this won't be my last journal entry, I'm sure I'll wake up just fine tomorrow but apart of me is still scared Emeline will find us.

Closing his journal Michael lays it on his nightstand and turns off his lamp.  Laying down he closes his eyes and finally allows himself to slip into the welcomeing embrace of sleep.

Michaels eyes shoot open, his clock reads 3:16 A.M, the room is alight with the moons glow, and his two friends are staring wide eyed at something in the direction of the foot of his bed.  Michael knows whats there, he just does, he doesn't want to but ever so slowly he turns to look down his bed.  Standing there is Emeline, she is withered and dried with chunks of flesh and hair missing.  She extends her right arm over the bed with a closed fist, Michael is sure she's going to lunge forward to grab him, instead she opens her hand and lets something fall onto the sheets covering Michaels legs.

"You...dropped this." Emeline speaks hoarsely.

Slowly taking it in hand Michael realizes it's his fathers compass.

"Thank you." Michael replies, looking up bugeyed at Emeline.

"Thank you...for...visting me."  Her face contorts in what Michael can only guess is meant to be a smile.

Slowly and stiffly Emeline retreats out the bedroom door and into the night.  Looking over at his freinds Micheal finds they are now looking at him.  Silently Micheal lays back down and sets the compass onto his nightstand.

High School Life Rant

I need to put out what i am thinking in my head and i hope someone out there is willing to listen. I apologize in advance for the inevitable spelling and grammar mistakes. So here goes nothing...

My entire life i have not once been in a solidly stated relationship. However at one point I did get close. Yet I didn’t quite get there for a multitude of reasons that i don’t feel like going into. I just had to point out that fact before starting.

So, You now know I am a 18 yr old girl who has never been in a relationship, never had sex, and never even had my first kiss.

This fact has made me feel extremely alienated from my peers and society. In the sense of societys image of a teenagers social life I am the complete opisite. 

In my personal opinion society's view a teenage social life would be partys, drinking, sex, drama, heartbreak, etc. And I have only had two of those, being drama in which I seem to be incapable of keeping a long term friend, and heartbreak as in I am incredibly good at breaking my own.

When everyone around you is experiencing their first kisses, first times, first serious relationships, I found myself sitting alone on the sidelines waiting for someone to take my heart in the way others around me had theirs taken. I just wanted to know what it felt like to be the teen who had a “typical” high school experience.

Yet day after day I found myself in a new group of people I still found like the last could not fully accept me for who I was. And to be fair its not like i held my arms open and let them in full force in hopes that they would do that. I was and still am one of the most guarded people I have ever met.  I’ve just never felt comfortable telling anyone everything, or even half the story for that matter.

Now through my elementary school experience I had a lot of friendships end because of a boy and going into junior high i was cautious to make any sort of real freind considering my best friend left me behind after her dick of a boyfriend who I didn’t even like choose me over her. And one of my good friends outing a crush i made up so she would shut up to the entire class.

So already beginning to alienate myself from the groups I made few friends and to this day I know a hell of a lot more about them then they ever knew about me. Saying grade eight was lonely was an understatement.

So when grade nine came along and a very sweet guy who at the time I was not aware of my new friends feelings for befriended me, I jumped at the chance to feel wanted. Then out of the wood work came what I can only guess was the affection of four other guys. And when I look back at that time their smiles directed towards me told me everything about it.

You Know that smile they aren’t aware of that meets their eyes in most adorable way when they look at you. Almost as if it all makes sense now for that brief moment. That smile could get me everytime, and I got it from five boys in that short year. Two of which were the “popular guys.”  And to this day I will never understand the feelings these people had for me . Considering my wardrobe back then was solely jeans, tee’s, and hoodies, most of the time I’m not gonna lie I probably smelled like a boy, and my stash was growing to almost be as thick as a third brow above my lip. 

The pissing contests that year were a bit overwhelming and they made tenth grade look like the dark side of the moon.

The new friend I had made that I thought was forever quickly left after her crush moved away and it was like she didn’t even know me as we wnt into high school and with those other boys the last year every other sane girl stayed far away from me.

It seemed to me as though the other girls their hated me, didn’t give a shit or had some warped view of respect. But even with them my friends were limited to the people who didn’t really care about anyone else beyond their already asablished group.

I worked my ass off in that group to be apart of it. And yet I was still not invited to a single event and was forgotten about on every group assignment. Even though I had people to sit by in the classroom no one wanted to see me out of it. So while everyone around me talked of weekend parties and who was interested in who and especially what happened that weekend I was still severely out of the loop.

As grade ten came to a close it became clear to me just how the rest of my high school career would play out. I would continue to have no real friends, my first kiss was not going to happen here, and lets be honest I am never going to a party, invited or otherwise just not my scene. I would be on the outside.

We moved after a very quite eleventh grade when I began to catch the attention of old crushes, that again wnt no where, and made another friend I though would be forever who no longer speaks to me.

And the only difference my senior year gave was a different group of people to be isolated from. When you don’t drink and never had there are three types of friends you will encounter, The ones who try to convert you, the ones who say they don’t give a shit and you do you and try to convert you anyway, and the one I have yet to encounter and question if this type of person really exists, the one who actually doesn’t give two shits about your alcohol consumption.

There was a new group of guys I was selfish enough to think liked me and there were a new group of girls who quickly decided I would never truly be one of them.

So now I am here facing my second semester of university and honestly its just feeling like a bigger high school. 

Tell me world at the very least is there a friend out there for me???
