They gave Jack Crusher Soji's mysterious backstory, Rios's brooding habit and general status as a Han Solo wannabe, Elnor's combat skills, and Jurati's personal relationship with the Borg Queen; and yet he still manages to be considerably less interesting than any of them.

Something about how if you're cute, people aren't as likely to see you as annoying, and also the inverse.
(Cute isn't the right word, but I'm not sure what is. There's a looks component certainly, but it's also charisma, personality, charm, all of that good stuff that's difficult to learn or fake.)
Like there's an adorable, bubbly little kid, and adults fawn all over them. And then there's the kid's sibling or friend who is not so cute by whatever definition we're using. And the not-cute one sees how the adults are treating the cute one, how the adults are giving the cute one treats and piggyback rides and attention, and the not-cute one wants to get in on that too. But they can't, not really. People just aren't going to treat them the same.
Something about how the not-cute kid internalizes that they don't deserve what cute people get. And the cute one internalizes that they do deserve it.
And eventually they're adults. And the cute one has had years of confidence-building positive social interactions, and they can ask for favors or exceptions or do mildly annoying but understandable things like "oh can I just cut in front of you, I'm in a hurry" or take up more than their share of space in a crowded area, and people will generally go out of their way to help them and smile at them and cater to them. The not-cute one might try to do exactly the same things (a lot more awkwardly of course) and mostly what they'll get is disapproval. But more likely they'll keep quiet, not ask for anything, because they've learned it's not worth it. It just ends up making them feel bad about themselves.
Something something well who said life was fair, I guess.

There’s no reason to be bitter
We just weren’t meant for this millennium
Wasn’t your fault, not mine either
Maybe this way we are better
There’s no reason to be bitter
We just weren’t made for this eon
Maybe one day in the future
I’ll get to hold you like I never had the chance to

the thing about streaming cancellations vs network TV cancellations is, every time they cancel something, we -
- the collective Internet we that occasionally comes together to say make This Is How You Lose the Time War a bestseller because of an anime tweet -
- miss a golden opportunity to be funny.
because we could send that cancelled show to #1 by all watching it at once and delightfully trollfully making streaming execs everywhere shout "inconceivable".
not just the usual all of folks-who-care-about-the-show fighting for it. people well outside a given show's demographic turning it on to stick it to insert_streaming_service_here.
honestly I'm disappointed in the collective us that we haven't yet responded this way. someday soon okay?

It's honestly crazy that discussion around testosterone HRT skews so much towards the beginning stages of it (to the point that you have dozens of guys thinking their transition is "failed" if they don't pass by like a year in lol) and what the initial changes of the first couple of months to years look like, like the classic laundry list of those early basic changes like bottom growth, voice drop, etc, when IMO literally none of that compares remotely to the depth and intensity of the long term total masculinization you start to experience like 3-5+ years in.

academic bias is so funny because you’ll be reading about the same historical event and one person is like “Despite the troubles that befell his homeland and near constant criticism of the court King Blorbo remained strong in the face of adversity” and the other one is like “after letting his people carry the brunt of his cringefail decisions Blorbo the Shitface refused to listen to any reason and continued to be a warmongering piece of shit. Also he was ugly.”
