#I got it on the 3DS and on my current playthrough i wanted to get a Teddiursa

Today I learned that according to Teddiursa’s Dex entries, the crescent mark on its forehead glows when it find honey
I feel like this is something we artists must take into consideration when drawing Teddiursa

zero escape fan here:
if you want to play it yourself, i recommend playing 999 first on an emulator and using the ds version. 999 has a remaster that is sold with vlr and cant be bought seperately, so i like to think of it as a sort of "test run", and then you can get vlr on steam or whatever.
additionally, in the remaster they screw with the writing a bit? like, they change it from 2 screens at once to 2 screens you have to toggle. a LOT of letsplayers play on adventure mode, which ONLY has them talking and none of the important details present, so they have to make characters point out the obvious and it just sorta ruins the flow. if they play novel mode [which has both dialouge and the narration], it comes off as just constantly repeating itself. the worst part is that youll most likely have to look for playthroughs that are almost a decade old if you want to watch the original ds version as a playthrough— so i think its best to play that one yourself.
vlr and ztd dont have these issues, however, so feel free to watch those as playthroughs :) im new to your blog, so i dont know where you stand on the "ill only buy a game if i REALLY wanna play it and ill usually just watch a playthrough" to "if im interested in a game, ill buy it myself and play it and use letsplayers for recommendations" scale, but it seems like youre on the "only buy if necessary" end from what ive seen so far. im just trying to give advice :)
[and if youre iffy about emulating or dont want to "pirate" a game, nintendo has stopped production of this game and the consoles it plays on, so this is the only way to play this game unless you want to shell out at least 800 bucks for a new ds/3ds and a legit cartridge. the remaster takes 999 from what id call a masterpiece to just a good game, and ive played through both versions of the game 100% and the remaster got me LAUGHING in serious situations just because of the writing. the ds version is definitely the way to go for a first playthrough, at least in my opinion.]
anyways, from one zero escape fan to hopefully another one in the future, i hope you enjoy! play/watch a letsplay however you want, this is just one stranger's suggestion. having fun is the important part, and if you want any clarification tell me and ill send in another ask 👍
Thanks very much for the advice! And yeah, you've absolutely hit the nail on the head with the ''only buy if necessary'' XD I don't exactly come from a place with the income buy video games or the consoles needed to play them myself so easily, so Let's Plays it is! Which isn't too bad since I really like reacting to the game along with others, so I guess there's a silver lining there. Although I did hear about some issues with 999. Something about being sorta lost in translation too? NicoB's videos are exactly a decade old and the original ds version if memory serves, so I should be in clear with most of these issues. Good to know that the other two games are free to watch without difficulty at least.
I'm currently at the point where Akane and Junpei are investigating door 4 (with Lotus and Santa) and it's definitely super engaging at the moment. The investigation style really reminds me of DRA2 chapter 4's one, which was my absolute favourite investigation in the entire series (along with V3 chapter 4), so I'm super excited to see more of it! I love how the characters bounce off each other so well. I LIVE for Snake's snark and Akane's nerdiness, they're so lovely. And Nico's commentary during the more serious situations had me CACKLING so bad, especially how dirty he does the 9th dude every time it's amazing.
Stranger's suggestion or not, I very much appreciate the sentiment! I definitely feel like this will be a game I'll be stuck with for a while, but if it's already this fun now I think I'll be happy to stay ^-^ I'll be sure to keep this in mind! From one potential Zero Escape Fan to an already one, thanks and take care 👍

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so i beat the main story of Teal Mask, and I decided to try something wildly different with my dlc team than i usually do
More under cut
I was told the levels would be somewhat similar to IoA- roughly level 60s, so I made a very rough decision to box a lot of mons I actually WANTED to take with me because they're just too over leveled.
So instead of using like 3 pokemon i've used from my main team, 2 transfers, and 1 new pokemon, I decided to use... well, 1 mon from a past team transferred in to get me started, 1 mon for that that actually stuck, and 1 mon from my base game that I never really used. And in the case of H Samurott, I mainly had him at the very beginning until i could catch a new water type- I have this thing about needing certain colors and types. The rest are mons I caught and raised entirely in Kitakami.
Gotta say, it was refreshingly difficult. I actually had to work to get them high enough level because- spoilers- it's actually not that easy in Kitakami, and it actually gets harder- like level 70 and higher bosses harder- like teams comprised of level 70+ pokemon. I probably COULD have brought some old Pokemon and still have had trouble, but I decided on this bit and I stuck with it for a pretty refreshing team.
So, with that said, my team:
Hisuian Typhlosion- Shogun. Actually, this is the one non Paldean Pokemon I ended up keeping on my final team, and ended up the highest level. I caught after my Legends Arceus playthrough, and he's actually the same one pictured here
Tumblr media
he served as my "starter" for Kitakami and did an okay job at it. Not quite as powerful as I'd like, but I always wanted to get another chance to try using one- and I got it!
2. Yanmega, Racer- My first catch upon entering the region. Always wanted a Yanmega! It's a lot cooler than expected- a bit of a glass cannon, but fun nonetheless.
3. Poliwrath, Fesh Pince- I think I used one a long, long time ago as a kid, but that Poliwrath has been lost to time. This one is named after a Poliwrath I had a fan game playthrough I did, and that one is named after the Fesh Pince of Blair- a stupid but funny youtube poop of Fresh Prince. I often found myself saying "We've got to attack him" as I tossed him out. He pulled some decent weight and was crucial as a wall in catching Okidogi and Fezandipiti.
4. Morpeko, MorMarnie- Okay so... She sucks lol, but it literally attacked me out of the blue and I decided I like how cute it is- especially Hangry mode. It did have one or 2 good victories and moments, but it did lose a lot lol. But still, I like having at least 1 designated "buddy" pokemon on my team anyway.
5. Baxcalibur, Hollabax- This one was added after I wasn't feeling certain vibes from my team, and it fixed it right up. He didn't even have a nickname until a few minutes ago- I was planning originally to use it in my first SV run, but I got too attached to my Cetitan after it literally waddled up to me and let me catch it in one ball throw as a baby. Hollabax is strong though, gave me a bit of a needed boost when things started getting difficult- but its typing actually balances it out, because while it is strong, it gets taken out pretty easily. I like him though- initially i was going to go with a "japan" themed team, and he kinda ironically fits if we go with the idea he's godzilla.
6. Blood Moon Ursaring, Yoginator- The very same one from this pic
Tumblr media
He's a big boy, quite literally the tallest Pokemon on my team at 8 feet tall. When I first fought it, it literally almost wiped my team- if it weren't for Scout the Furret getting in one last good hit, I'd have lost. THEN Yoginator replaced him, lol. He's a living example of "The boss when you fight him vs the boss when he joins the party," as he kinda kicked ass but not nearly as much as expected. Still, he's neat and I like him.
Reserves:
Furret, Scout- Scout was actually my Furret from 3DS Silver, and one of my current favs right now. Such a friend shaped Pokemon
Tumblr media
She got me started for the first small bit of the main story, and landed the last hit to win against Blood Moon Ursaluna. Wasn't really as strong as I'd liked, but it was still nice to have an old friend with me.
2. H Samurott, Muramasa- my starter in Legends Arceus, and at most a very temporary body guard until I found Fesh Pince. He's strong and actually helped against some raids I found while I was there. I wish I could have used him tbh- I hope Indigo Disk keeps the trend of higher levels, because if so I might bring him there.
3. Dipplin, Dipper- Was part of the team for a bit, but it was around getting Morpeko I started feeling a vibe was off in my team. Normally I'd prioritize a new Pokemon over older ones, but in this case I decided that I needed a bit more fire power after it kept losing repeatedly. INTERESTINGLY, Apparently Dipplin can use Eviolite- that means it theoretically can EVOLVE- just not now. Maybe in pt 2, and maybe then I'll try again with it
4. Ogerpon, name pending- And the special boy. Such a cute fella, and I wanna spoil him a bunch. I added him to my team, replacing Morpeko so I could take on the stronger Oger gang trainers and generally just explore more stuff I might have missed. Have I mentioned he's a very good boy? I love him
Overall, this team was a challenge to raise on short notice, but it actually made the dlc a lot of fun and not just a spam A to win fest.

Thoughts on the State of Play reveal
Under a readmore just in case
1- I know I said I'd keep the Son*dow tag blocked for a bit after Prime ended but I think I'll keep it blocked till the end of the year now lmao
2- I know the rumor has been going around since yesterday but I took it with a grain of salt since it's. Yknow. A rumor. But even when I let myself think 'what if its real tho' this is SO FAR FROM WHAT I EXPECTED. A!!! I thought at most we'd get is a remaster that'd also make Shadow playable! As soon as I saw the new level I was like WAIT WHAT. WAIT WHAT!!?!? and it just kept going from there!!!
I'm so happy we'll be getting a HD biolizard fight! He'll no longer be contained to the 3DS! Also from what little we saw Shadow will get to have some dynamic posing in the boss fights, like Super Sonic did in Frontiers. Good! I loved those!
3- Ian Flynn has #KnowingSmile'd the announcement and I'm hoping this means he got to write for whatever new content there is.
And speaking of Frontiers! I'm hoping that this ends up being Shadow's 'Frontiers' moment. In that his writing and character get what Amy's, Tails', and Knuckles' did in Frontiers.
4-I had the stream off to the side in another tab since I wasn't interested in most of what was shown. And then I heard the first few notes of the Generations music and i immediately switched tabs and I just!!! Feel like I did in 2011 except my computer/internet is way better, and you tube is shittier!
5- I'm excited for this for such Me reasons. For those new here- I live in a country that had no Sonic stuff for...well, never, really. Not until about 2022. The second movie did what I'd hoped the first movie would do (but then the pandemic happened) and brought over Sonic stuff here. For the first time in my life I went to a toy store here and it had Sonic stuff. I got to buy physical Sonic comics for the first time. For the first time in my life I can go to a video game store and actually see Sonic games there. It's been wild
That being said, 2011 had Nothing. Sonic Generations came out. And I didn't want to pirate it because a friend of mine had worked on it. I was determined to find it. And I only saw it irl one time- for the Playstation. A console I've never had. It was pretty upsetting! I remember posting about it here even....I've been on tumblr too long SHDGSHDHS
Later I'd find that there was a 3DS version. I have that! So I looked for that version of it alongside the PC one
So, for almost a decade, I looked, to no avail. And for this whole time I refused to look at any playthroughs! Any knowledge I had on whats in the game came from the trailers we saw
And then in 2019 my best friend helped me buy the 3DS version. I had 9 dollars on my 3DS and whenever the game went on sale it'd be on for 10 dollars. So he gave me a dollar and helped me get it SHDGSHDH
So I finally experienced Generations! It was surprise after surprise in that one, because I knew it was different but I didn't know how. I didn't expect a Rush level in it, or for the Biolizard to be in there!
And then in late 2020 when I got my new computer and could finally get steam, another close friend got me Generations for the PC! I'd somehow managed to dodge spoilers on it all those years so all I knew about it was: Theres Green Hill, Chemical Plant, City Escape, and a Silver boss fight.
I got to play modern City Escape for myself- which is the level that inspired the current iteration of my main OC, Storm. It was a joy
All this rambling to say...it's wild to think that once this remaster comes out, I'll be able to get it day 1, at least I hope I will. Still-it won't take me almost a decade to get to it
And if there's a physical release? I'll be able to go to a store here- HERE, not in one of our neighboring countries, not from somewhere else, but in a store here. Right across the street. And I'll finally have a physical copy of Generations. That was my final goal with the game-- I love it, I have two versions of it! And the plan was always that even though I'd gotten to play them now, if I ever ran into a physical copy of the game, I'd buy it. And now I'll really get to do it
6- Bonus thought of me being silly: Wowow my OC was shown at the State of Play--

Omega ruby decrypted rom
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just want to have Pokemon Omega Ruby, Pokemon Rutile Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire installed without deleting the original one I will sin paste the same thing I wrote in the ProjectPokemon site: Wow this hack really looks interesting.
Tumblr media
How do I do to be able to play it normally without having to suffer with these problems. Load your ROM with your Gateway Flashcard on your 3DS or new3DS with del lower than or equal to version 9. PS: Does the Evolutions mod change Mega Evolutions and also add the Hoopa item too? I would really appreciate it if you could tell me the files for those two, since I want to be able to run a Vanilla playthrough of the game with only hacked wild pokemon and evolutions to be able to catch whatever Pokemon I want in the wild and evolve them without resorting to trading. I just want to have Pokemon Omega Ruby, Pokemon Rutile Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire installed without deleting the original one I will copy paste the same thing I wrote in the ProjectPokemon site: Wow this hack really looks interesting! I got just some questions: 1 Does the edited Wild Pokemon work so we can catch all of the 720 Pokemon currently available as of 6th Gen? Sort of like a Emu Edition to avoid having to trade for the ones not available in one of the two versions. That's why I asked if it's possible to change the UniqueID when I want to build Rutile Ruby. I have both installed as cia from the eshop legit and a copy of my retail Cartridge which I've sold. Load your ROM with your Gateway Flashcard on your 3DS or new3DS with firmware lower than or equal to version 9. Press a key and the command prompt windows will close. A blank command prompt window will pop up and stay blank for a while. Follow the instructions in the ROM decryption guide to rebuild romfs. Click the banner at the top of this thread or the font at the top to download the. Additionally, since wild Pokémon aren't leveled up, if you were to release one of your Level 40 Pokémon that you'd have ar around the third Gym you'd have a hell of a time replacing it. It's very rare for all six of your team to make it through any Gym battle, and some of the Ace Trainers are equally difficult. Boss battles play out almost like competitive matches, with them often revenge killing you, setting up, or pulling out surprise moves. If you wishing this ROM in other languages, feel free to ask me. Traiver I will continue the translation in german language. The first three people to beat the second run of the Elite Four in each game will have their teams immortalized in the trainers on the S.
Tumblr media
Note that Event eggs Lavaridge Town glitch out thanks to this, and wrap around to taking a very long time. Every species now has a 1-cycle hatch rate. Revives costs much more, to discourage their use in battle Sacred Ash is unusable during battle. You should be hitting Level 100 by the time you get to the Elite Four. Every trainer in the game has been edited, and the level curve expects use of the Experience Share, which means that you level up very quickly. Their main purpose is to provide a more challenging game experience while not artificially limiting the player. And I would like to know the following: I can not start Pokemon X and neither Pokemon Y is black infinite screen, and when I use a save from someone for example when I go to pick up the game, the game does not respond anymore, it gets the message from the Pokemon that I chose there, I have to use a save to pass that part as well. Prepare for an epic adventure exploring a world filled with Pokemon! I got just some questions: 1 Does the edited Wild Pokemon work so we can catch all of the 720 Pokemon currently available as of 6th Gen? This is a simple hack rom based on Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, in which were randomized a lot of stuff read below thanks to pk3ds. Pokemon Alpha Sapphire 3DS Decrypted ROM are 2014 role-playing video games developed by Game Freak, published by The Pokémon Company and distributed by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. ※ Download: ?dl&keyword=pokemon+alpha+sapphire+decrypted+rom&source=

I have completed Star Ocean!!!!
So I only have one negative thing to say about First Departure R and its minor. To get it out of the way, this game has the same disease many RPGs have which is "bad final area and last boss" syndrome. I made the strongest sword I could possibly get for Roddick and half the enemies at the end, including the final boss, are healed if you hit them with it, I assume because they absorb dark element. I will be maining the Soul Eater next time
But there is currently a next time because I really liked the game! Its old and arcane and items are super important even though you'll never need even a fraction of whats available, and all of that PSP jank is so good, I love it. As a remake/remaster/port thing I really love the way the devs stayed true to the SNES game and the PSP game at the same time somehow. Its like the most respectful remaster ever
Besides just liking the game I've started a second playthrough because there are a lot of characters and I want to play with some of the ones I couldn't get before. Unfortunately it would take 3 playthroughs to use all of them and idk if I would go that far so soon after my first clear but the other reason I'm playing again is I understand the skill system now and I wasted so many points and so much EXP before that i basically just wanna see how broken overpowered I can get lol. I feel like theres an upper limit for sure cuz damage caps at 9999, but I wanna max out all skills for everyone and smith some fucked up armor and buy all the expensive items and stuff. Its got all the components of the kind of RPG I'm always looking for, even though just like with FF8 I wish it was just normal turn based combat. The spritework is really good though and it helps the fights be fun
I started the demo for second story and so far I really like the characters and the art and stuff but it kinda encapsulates a problem I have with sequels and modernizing things. The stagger system and all the battle stuff is fuckin awesome, I love it and its what drew me to the game in the first place, but the 3D environments look kinda crusty and the menus are all just blue and samey looking. The SO:FD menus let you change the background color and all the different tabs have colored icons next to them. And its nice cuz theres a lot of menus in that game. With Second Story its like you trade the PSP swag for convenience and sick battle systems. But I reallyyy like the PSP swag is the problem

I just finished: Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade!
Fire emblem was a fairly big thing in my childhood, exclusively due to the 3DS Ambassador programme that led me to play Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Now, I never finished it - and before now I hadn't actually finished any Fire Emblem game.
Not that I hadn't got pretty deep into them - I managed to get to the last level of Sacred Stones - with 3 units left alive. As a child I don't think I could wrap my head around the kind of game it was, that allowing my units to die was not an acceptable way of playing the game. Of course the newer games allow you to play this way, with the option to disable permadeath - which is good to make the games more accessible - but permadeath is core to the Fire Emblem games in my opinion: not to make the games harder, necessarily - simply to make each unit feel important, indisposable - actually human. This is what Fire Emblem should be to me, and some of the new games do seem to diminish this to an extent, not that I have actually played much of them.
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade is a pretty good start if you want to start with the Fire Emblem franchise - or at least the older games. This was the first game released outside of Japan, and is designed to introduce new players to the franchise - going over mechanics that other games may assume you already know. The game in general is, I believe, somewhat easier than other games in the series. I have already started through it's predecessor - The Binding Blade - and have been struggling considerably more. This is all part of the reason that I started my playthrough of the franchise with this game - as well as that it's available through Switch Online.
Not that this is the first time I've played the game - I have started and played an amount of it many times, as I have with some other Fire Emblem games - only now have I stuck with it to the end. And it's better than I may have thought: the plot is fairly decent, at least compared to how people usually talk about Fire Emblem games stories - and it has, while I am less familiar with most of the other characters in the franchise due to not finishing their games - currently my favourite lords in the Franchise. Hector and Lyndis are my beloveds and are so much more interesting compared to the standard lords Fire Emblem provides, that after not long blend together into one. Elliwood is also there!
Largely I am very happy I started with this entry to actually finish rather than any other - I think is is the best introduction you can have to the franchise and is also just one of the better games, however perhaps my opinion may change as I play through more of the games.
Significance: 1/3

99 Problems but F-Zero ain't one of them
I see Tumblr's joined the group of websites that felt the need to make their layout even more irritating with no actual gain. Well anyway, yeah another 'off-topic' post rather than something substantial. Admittedly, this has probably been my least productive year yet when it comes to my Smash Bros Playthroughs (Ironic that rereading my post at the end of last year I said I might actually be able to finish everything up to the Spirits etc on my list yet I've not even finished Tales of Symphonia yet...) I've beaten 3 games on my list and two of them I was barely able to justify being on the list as they were new releases (Pokemon Scarlet for the Pokeball item because it's the first main series game where you actually can manually throw a Pokeball to make a Pokemon appear and Fire Emblem Engage because of stage related reasons (there's no spoiler tag it seems on here so I'll hold off specifying). Beyond these though, I've been playing just new releases really including Tears of the Kingdom (the third on my list but I'll hold off why), Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed (which was fantastic) and I finally was able after all these years to play Spider-man on my new Steamdeck which took up a large chunk of my game playing this year (didn't finish Miles game yet though.) There are two other games I've mainly played, (besides every so often doing a few Mario Maker 2 courses which is part of a big project I've been working on for that) the first of which is finally relating to the dumb title I've used above. F-Zero 99 isn't what F-Zero fans wanted but it's still been great to play imo and I've been playing it far more than I thought I would. Hopefully this will be a sign of some possible attention for the series as a whole as it seems to have attracted quite a few casual players as well as F-Zero fans.
I thought I'd managed after what I mentioned last time to get every game I wanted to on the eShop before it closed on 3DS and Wii U, and I did manage that for my Smash list, but I was missing a game I'd always meant to pick up but never got around to... and I realised far too late that meant the only option now was trying to track down an overpriced copy on Ebay or something. I did however manage to win a copy in an auction (I wouldn't like to admit how much, just that it was below at least the prices for every other copy I saw on there) of Project X Zone 2. Because of this I've been playing that a lot recently, I've made it a fair way in, there's more characters than I expected that I at least knew the name or look of but it's definitely got a lot of ones I had to ask my friends who play a lot more obscure games about. With that said, since Phoenix Wright didn't get into Smash it is fun at least having him in something like it and I have been enjoying it. I've mentioned before I believe sometimes just liking crossovers even if they're things I've never heard of, I guess because in a sense it allows me as a newcomer to see it from the eyes of the other characters who've never met before and so I learn what they learn. Either way, that's been mostly taking up my playtime atm, which try as I might I haven't currently found a way of justifying to be on my list (granted, honestly adding it might be reaching too much even for me.) All of this however, has led to a problem that means I might have to change plans fast...
Nintendo's announced that the Wii U and 3DS will be losing their online almost entirely next year, with only redownloads of software you own, updates to software and Pokemon Bank I believe to still remain after next April (and Bank is stated to end sometime after...) This announcement made me realise I had to heavily look at my list and see if there's something that will make impossible. I worried about Federation Force and Triforce Heroes but those do seem to be at least playable in single player (definitely not ideal but not completely unusable) however, it's the other thing that has me concerned, Pokemon Bank closing. Due to this, I've realised I have to do what I originally planned to do after finishing the items on my list, which is to capture every single Pokemon that's appeared in Smash Bros in any form (Pokeball, stage background, Trophies, Spirits) but in it's home region. I was then planning on transferring them all to Pokemon Ultra Moon and using that game to get screenshots of them (with their region exclusive photo backgrounds in the game). Due to this therefore, I plan to start very soon playing through the final two Pokemon games I had on my list, Emerald and Crystal. Admittedly, Emerald isn't one I plan on actually using to capture Pokemon specifically, it's far far easier for me to use ORAS to do so, but for my actual playthrough of the game's plot etc, I plan on playing the original Emerald on GBA. Crystal is one I've been looking forward to for a while as it's my favourite Pokemon game ever and on my list of top 10 games of all time (the majority of which are on my Smash list) I do also have Sword and Shield on my Smash Bros list as well as Legends Arceus and Let's Go, however since they're on Switch I'm going to hold off on those till I was originally going to play them. Also because it's almost impossible beyond hacking or using complicated means from what I've seen to get certain Pokemon, I will settle for simply having ones like Celebi or Mew rather than specifically getting them from their regions, basically as you can probably guess I just mean I'll get what I can.
So yeah, that's where I'm at basically, I'll probably update my list after posting this as I've added a fair few things (Daisy for example is going to have Super Mario Bros Wonder become her actual game now seeing as it fits her in Smash a lot more than Super Mario Party did on my initial list) so yeah. I guess if I have an aim for this by the end of the year, I highly doubt I'll beat all the games I have on my list for Mii Costumes (from Tales of Symphonia to DOOM 2016) but I do plan on going back to a few I've skipped over either because I couldn't play them at the time or didn't want to burn out too much on one series (numerous Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games I've skipped over for now regarding costumes or stage elements for example) so at the very least I'd like to end this year with that looking a little bit more respectable. Typing this out has made me decide to finally stop holding back on this and get a move on with it, so I'm hoping perhaps by the end of the year I might finally write those last two Melee character posts and have good news on my progress after that. Either way, I guess in honour of Charles Martinet, I'll try and stick to the mantra of 'Here we go!' (Yes, feel free to unfollow me after that)

I hopped on the bandwagon even though I probably shouldn't have given how unbalanced this tier list is. (Games that I have no particular ranking for are in as close to chronological order as I can).
Starting with Nostalgia Tier—I haven't replayed these games (at least, not start to finish) since childhood, but I have fond memories of them. They're in chronological order (even though Platinum should be higher than DP for Giratina alone) because my memories are vague and it doesn't feel fair to rank them without having a fresh experience.
I Love It— Though I was initially nervous about pre-ordering it given my regret over buying Sword + DLC, I'm absolutely glad I gave Scarlet a chance. It's one of my favorite Pokémon games of all time—having the freedom to roam around, compelling characters that give me gender envy, a prehistoric motorcycle lizard who is my best friend...there's so much to love about it. Even if there's stuff I miss (like Pokémon Contests or Amie/Refresh), it doesn't feel as noticeably absent as other games. There's even mini-games in Scarlet, which I wasn't expecting—as in, mini-games you can do after post-game. It's no Pokéathelon, but I'm glad there's at least something there.
BDSP gets its own tier because I have complicated feelings about it. Do I wish I had something more, especially given my nostalgia for HGSS? Yes. Did I get some enjoyment out of it anyway, despite its flaws? Also yes. The tier is only so close to the top because I wanted it near Nostalgia tier, but it's not directly below it since I can't justify placing it higher than Scarlet.
If you asked me in 2017, Sun/Moon would be in "I Love It". Upon replaying it, the game was more of a slog than I remembered it being. I had to wait, like, an hour before I could even buy glasses! Scarlet gave me glasses for free! I'm still fond of the Sun/Moon characters, but I do not want to go through that tutorial again. X/Y is below it because I haven't gotten to play it until recently (went straight to Sun/Moon when I got my 3DS and getting X/Y wasn't a high priority). I moreso like the idea of what the game could've been than the game itself. I really like Amie too (which I found out about through Alpha Sapphire) and could totally see myself returning to the game just for Amie.
Alpha Sapphire is neutral for now because I have played it a little, but don't really remember anything from the playthrough. I could see myself potentially liking it.
Sword/Shield has some interesting character designs/town designs, but it felt like a slog to get through. I was amazed when I first started playing because I hadn't seen an "HD" Pokémon game before, though that novelty wore off quickly. I don't really appreciate being chased by Pokémon more than twice my current level either.
LGPE seems like fun—I was considering getting it instead of Sword in 2021, but I thought it would've been better to play the new gen instead. I'm disappointed I missed out on an opportunity to ride on a Shiny Charizard. Seems childish, but the nostalgic factor (I loved the anime) is appealing for me.
Then there's the games I wasn't old enough to experience upon release—not sure if I'll play any of them (especially when some of them already have remakes that I currently own). I own a Ruby cartridge, but nothing to use it with.
USUM isn't appealing to me because I already played SM. The Ultra whatevers aren't worth paying $30-$40 for the same game with an even longer tutorial. As for Legends, it doesn't seem to have a lot going on tbh. Seeing PLA stans constantly shove it down other people's throats and act as if it's objectively superior to every mainline game completely turns me off from it. Not to mention, I already felt anxious in the Sword wild area. Having wild Pokémon attack me would make my anxiety worse.

The Beginning & End
Tumblr media
Back in 2016, I bought my first 3DS. It was the Amazon exclusive Lime Green New 3DS XL, with a copy of Pokémon Sun, and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I hadn't played a current Pokémon game, since Gold & Silver back on the Game Boy Color. So, when I first played Sun, I wasn't exactly blown away. I liked it well enough, but I didn't care for the Alola region very much. I felt it was a backwater region, the new Alolan variants were unimpressive, and the lack of gyms was really a disappointment for me.
A year later, I bought Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, but my opinion didn't change much. As time went by though, my feelings toward the Generation 7 games really began to change. I began to see the charm Alola had to it. I started to dive into the competitive scene more and despite my lack of skill, I found it to be quite fun. However, when Pokémon Sword & Shield released, despite my new found appreciation for Generation 7, I was ready to dive head first into new at time, Pokémon Sword & Shield games.
But then a funny thing happened. Sword & Shield didn't blow me away like I expected. The more I played Generation 8, the more I began to really miss my time in Alola. I felt like I didn't appreciate enough of what it had to offer at the time. So, I went back and started playing and replaying the games more. Doing regular playthroughs, nuzlockes and shiny hunts as well. It was then that I really came to love both the standard, and ultra versions of the games.
I decided, I wanted to start collecting more things Alola. First, I went after the Pokémon Light Blue Sun & Moon variant of the 2DS. Then I wanted to collect the dual packs. The ESRB releases are rather expensive, but I got both Japanese dual packs for great prices. Some day I hope to get the ESRB dual packs, but those will have to wait for now.
On March 27th, 2023 the 3DS E-Shop will close. We're less than 3 months away and it's finally begun to hit me. The end is coming. Thankfully online functionality for games will still work for the foreseeable future, but some day too, it will be gone as well. The 3DS was a beginning for me. It's what got me back into console gaming. And since the end is coming soon, I want to spend more time with it. And especially more time in Alola.

I’ve never been one for blogging alot, because writing down feelings and emotions is something I’d rather not do truth be told!
My New Year’s resolutions are; Play more games and start blogging about life and things in general. Just a respite to unleash and wax lyrical about stuff no one will give a fuck about. But I think I need the release, somewhere I can read back and reflect. Not just on the good days but also the bad days! No one will probably read all these, but I just wanted somewhere to talk and ramble mostly! Write whilst no one is watching! Sounds quite nice truth be told, let out all the emotions needed in the writing format! Always been a better way for me to express myself anyway.
Let’s just continue the ramble. Today has been a fucker of a day. I am currently playing through an incredibly old PS2 game called “Dragon Quest VIII Journey of the Cursed King” a remaster was made for the 3DS and I got it for Christmas with the intent of actually playing it as opposed to just adding it into my expanding collection. And there was this one fucking bit which just wouldn’t work and I’d tried everything and then I started getting angry and shouting at it (Honestly have a short temper). I swear I was looking for the solution for like 3 hours. The save I loaded up wasn’t as far ahead as what I was hoping, so go back through the quests and finally it actually let me do the thing (granted it’s silly to get so annoyed over something so trivial, it just happens sometimes that is all. But the frustration was getting so tense that I just ended up bawling my eyes out. Because I was trying not to shout and get angry and try and take the calm approach. Just cry my heart out it seems (truth be told it totally worked out and I felt less angry after letting it all out) finally managed to get it all sorted, the story has gone on and I am beyond happy I can get back to playing it and just enjoying it.
There was a particular quest about a king called “Pavan” and he was distraught with the death of his wife “Queen Sasha” that he’d been in mourning for two years and all he wanted was to see her one last time. After an elongated search we found someone called Ishumauri who was able to show Pavan memories of Sasha and you could see how truly lost and distraught he had been since her untimely death. But remembering stuff she’d told him really did something for him. He was told by her to be a strong, good king for his country and that is what she knew he was capable of. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but it really almost brought tears to me eyes. I don’t do a great job explaining it truth be told, but it’s definitely something to experience for yourself (may it be via a walkthrough or a playthrough yourself)
Nothing much else to do really. Just want an early night more than anything just to catch up on some sleep and look moderately presentable for New Year’s Eve. What I wouldn’t give to be in bed early because I hate new years. I don’t want to stay up until midnight! I’m not that young anymore. I am usually in bed by 10 these days! But it’ll be another long day of hopefully getting so much further in this game!
I just hope I can finish the game before the 10th of January because one of my favourite games of all time “Final Fantasy XIV” is finally getting its next patch! 6.3 is looming and I am super excited! Do love me the story very muchly

Road to Cream 64 v1 Part 6-4: We Are the EggJams
Tumblr media
As if it wasn't obvious but keeping here for consistency.
youtube
Bowser in the Dark World: Sonic Adventure 2 - Crush 'Em All (Weapons Bed)
BitDW is also one of those stages that keeps on getting a brand new track with each update, I think literally this time around. But the general theme I wanted was something industrial so any Eggman track from SA2 could've worked here. I know I used a track from Shadow's game in the latest build but it still has similar vibes.
youtube
Bowser in the Fire Sea: Sonic 3D Blast - Volcano Valley Act 1 (Saturn)
I feel I got a bit lucky with this one, having just done a saturn playthrough around the time of working on v1. Plus it's rarely that I get to use anything from this game's soundtrack, especially the Saturn version.
A big ol' climb up this weird lava platforming section with orchestral music happenin'. Seems pretty fitting. If I had to swap it, I guess it would be for the second act.
youtube
Bowser in the Sky: Sonic Mania - Steel Cortex (Titanic Monarch Act 2)
This is the final climb, just you and your skills. Can't fly through it just yet so you're at the mercy of this game's level design. All while this track is playing does give me the heebee jeebees. There was thoughts of using Act 1 (and I still kind of considered it for v4) but Act 2 just feels more final, which it should be.
Plus it paired up nicely with the actual final boss theme of the hack. A nice one-two punch for the final Eggman fight. I don't regret changing it to the current track that's used in the latest build but sometimes I wish I could give an option to swap songs for those who wanna experience it.
youtube
Bowser 1: Sonic Adventure - Theme of Eggman
Your first encounter with Eggy and his Egg Koopa, might as well use the classic theme. Yes, you could argue that his SA2 theme is more iconic, but I enjoy the instrumentation of the SA1 theme better in this case.
youtube
Bowser 2: Sonic Heroes - Egg Emperor
Surrounded by lava, a platform as wobbly as your moveset, and the hard guitar riffs echoing throughout the fight, yeah boi it's the Egg Emperor theme!
I haven't used alot of tracks for Sonic Heroes so another case of wanting to even out my track selection. I think even then, I still would've used it cause it works great as a "he's not messing around!" kind of track.
youtube
Eggman 3: Sonic Mania - Ruby Illusions
The rainbow colors are in effect, the stage is ready to crumble at your feet, you're one final fight away from saving your mom, are you ready? God, I love this track so much and the mood it sets. Tee Lopes, you son of a bitch, why you so good?
It's been one of those tracks I've left since the beginning but I've had ideas on changing it for another track, but right now it's still uncertain. It's just too good! One of those I need to eventually put in-game first to get an idea before swapping it.
youtube
youtube
Ending: Sonic Advance 3 - Ending A Credits: Sonic Advance 3 - Staff Roll
I'm actually pretty proud of the first one. The opening melody is still the same as OG SM64 but when Vanilla appears, it transitions to the Ending A midi. Did have a bit of trouble select which instruments to use and the sudden change in timing messing up when the songs in -game but I'm really happy with the final result.
SAd3's ending was something I couldn't pass up. Aside from it being linked back to Cream (if you got the best ending), it's a really nice sendoff to the Advance series in general and felt just as appropriate here. I actually had to edit the original version to fit the SM64 credits and once I had to swap tracks for midis to save space, this ended up being one of them.
There was only one midi I found of this that sounded good and it never finished properly, just looped. So I had to actually manually adjust it myself to make sure it ends just like the song. After that was done, then just a matter of aligning instruments and honestly, god I dunno how I managed to pull it off but I can't seem to even go back and edit it again. Dedication to the project.
Tumblr media
There's probably a few tracks I forgot here and there but I will probably get to them in later parts since I do make some more changes down the line. But I hope this four part madness was a fun little ride.
Next Part should be the end of v1, just getting into the last bits before publishing and eventually talking about the SM64 PC Port and that whole mess.

After thinking it over for a bit, I've decided that I might as well do a proper underrated 3DS game rec list. I'm a bit of an ATLUS junkie and that's gonna be pretty disgustingly apparent in this list, but it's not my fault that they released hit after hit and all of them were duly ignored.
Due to tumblr's 10 image limit (and my struggle to keep motivated to do one thing for more than three hours) I'm definitely gonna have to break this up into parts and I'm fairly certain one of these lists is just gonna be MegaTen games lmao but I'd like to let people know about these excellent titles and see if I can't at least get people interested in them so they can get more traction.
So, without further ado:
Some 3DS Games that were criminally slept on (part 1)
Monster Hunter Stories
Tumblr media
God, where do I begin with this game. Well, the basics: It's a JRPG spinoff title of the now widely successful and popular Monster Hunter series featuring a different take on interacting with the varied and intricate monsters populating the world: Riders.
Yep, instead of hunting the beasties, you play as a young rider who's completed their intiation ritual and can now bond with 'Monsties' as they've cutely labelled the usually ferocious monsters of the wilds. The great thing is that you still fight Monsters--tons of them in fact but this isn't a paid review and in my humble opinion, the most impressive thing about this game is the visual style. The landscapes, the armour, the way they redesigned and 3DS-ified the classically hyper realistic and monstrous beasts to not only be absolutely adorable but still capable of being intimidating when the time calls for it, the stellar animation of special moves and combination attacks--it's delicious, nutritious, stupendous, I can and will consume it like it's part of my recommended caloric intake.
It's very akin to Pokemon in the way its basic gameplay premise is set up, however, instead of catching--or even indeed befriending--the Monsties in the game, you rummage through their nests and steal their eggs, later hatching them and getting yourself a brand new lightly kidnapped monster pal!
Other general things about the game:
Pros:
The armour and weapon sets for both male and female characters slap along with the general character customisation options. They're incredibly diverse (though limited in body type) and you can switch around traits and features whenever you want from your house.
The POGS--these porkers are everywhere and they serve as tiny little achievements for exploring every odd and end of the world. Also they have little outfits. They're so cute. 🥺🥺
You can actually ride the Monsties. All of em. Or, at least the ones that you have available to be your buddies. They all have exploration skills and traits that not only make exploring much more interesting but encourage you to swap out your active Monstie and play around with your options a bit.
Y'all breeding Monsties is complicated and I live for just how intense and ridiculous you can get with optimal builds for these things.
The story is really competently put together! The characters, character designs and even the internal conflict with your starting trio of characters is really compelling along with the mystery of the blight that's infecting Monsters across the world. It's not anything worth awards but it's compelling and it makes you care about the characters if that's what you're in the market for.
Amazing sound design, expansive world, everything about the presentation of this game oozes that Monster Hunter charm even if the art is cutesier than usual. You'll never get bored of its stellar visual presentation!
Available for around twenty quid on the Google Play store, so if you want, you could actually get the full game on your smartphone or tablet. Note though that it would be a battery nuker.
Cons:
If you're on a regular 3DS, frame rate drops are a given. This game kinda pushes the visual capabilities of the 3DS to its absolute limit--a lot like Okamiden did back on the DS.
One save file :( It's pretty much for the same reason as above but still.
If you're playing as the girl, you can't get male armour and vice versa. Since there's only one save file, you'll never be able to have all of the armour sets in a single playthrough and that's criminal because both of the sets for the genders are absolutely breath-taking, thank you.
I 👏can't 👏make👏my👏 own 👏Palico👏
Multi-player for this game is pretty dead seeing as it's almost five years old by now and never got much press or traction. Usually this wouldn't be an issue - this game is 99% singleplayer and you don't really need to fuss about with multi-player to have fun, but if you want to collect all the Monsties, you'll need it since the only way to get Glavenus is through pvp achievements. :/
Final thoughts: Play it if you find yourself getting tired or disappointed with 3DS Pokemon games but still want something that feels as fantastical as Pokemon. It outshines the 3DS Pokemon games at every turn and I will never be over just how thoughtfully put together and fully realised these games are. Of course, if you've ever played Monster Hunter, then you know just how intensive these games are with the lore, biology, cultures and world of their Monsters but seeing that translated into JRPG format was just very sobering and it's a game that, to this day, continues to awe me with just how much love and attention went into it.
Last note: If you're still unsure about it, there's a demo available on the e-shop of the 3DS that allows you to play through the entire initial area of the game. Your data does carry through to the full release and to give you an idea of how much I've been able to squeeze out of it - my playtime for that demo is currently sitting at 22 hours. Make sure to get a hold of that Cyan-Kut-Ku!
Tumblr media
7th Dragon III Code: VFD
Tumblr media
The title may sound intimidating but the premise is not! A mysterious disease called Dragon Sickness spread by the Dragonsbane flowers that have cropped up all around the world. You and your team are recruited by the Nodens game company after you display extraordinary prowess in their hit virtual reality game 7th Encount. As you go through the adventure, you are tasked with finding out the truth behind the Dragon Sickness and asked to stop both it and the Dragons that are destroying the world.
This game is fun. It's another turn-based JRPG however, in this game you create all of your characters yourself from the myriad of classes available to you from the jump. Different classes of course have very different specialisations - Samurai focus on high powered cutting damage with their swords, Duelists are summoners who can influence the element of the battlefield as well as summon monsters from each element, Agents can hack into your enemies and inflict a barrage of nasty ailments, just to name a few - and you are given three teams of three characters each to experiment with different team comps and find the balance that works for you. There's also a wide variety of Dragons to hunt and kill in the game, which directly affects how infected your world is with the Dragon Sickness causing Dragonsbane. Along the way you will also come into contact with many interesting characters, concepts and confrontations that will make the task of saving the world all the more imperative.
Pros
1. The character creator and differing classes give way for tons of experimenting and playing around with your own unique approach to combat and carrying out your missions. Granted, 'character creation' is generous, it's little more than palatte swaps but the classes are really where VFD shines. Eight main classes may not sound like a lot, but the expaniveness of the character skills, their synergy with their fellow classes and the uniqueness of some of the classes in and of itself allows for so much flexibility and creativity in approaches to even tougher bosses. It also encourages the switching about of your party members to really finagle with the options available to you.
2. God this game is pretty. The locations, the character art, the creature design - all of it is gorgeous and this game capitalises on every bit of the 3DS's presentation limitations as it can.
3. You can romance anything and everyone - yes, you can even be gay/lesbian/poly in this game. In fact, one of the main characters - Julietta - is gnc and he's a constant source of joy as well one of my personal favourite characters, right behind Yuma.
4. Exploration is very very forgiving as the game has healing spots and teleport nodes all over the world to allow for quick, seamless travel between quest points without feeling like anything is too much of a hassle. There are also special enemies that allow for quick grinding as well as quick farming of money. In general, the game does a really good job of making sure that the grind is never unbearable or inconsiderate of your time.
Cons:
1. This is the fourth game in a series the West has never seen any other title for, and from the looks of it, will probably never see any other titles for. Because of that, there are some elements that may seem confusing or revelations in the plot that may seem to come out of nowhere.
2. While the visuals are great, the OST of this one is pretty short making for a lot of reused soundtracks that can get really annoying if you're like me and need your audio to be interesting or consistent so it doesn't distract you too much.
3. This one isn't really a con but it is divisive: This game gets pretty difficult at times. A few of the main dragon enemies including and especially the final boss can give you a serious run for your money in the annoy-o-meter in terms of the kind of absolute JRPG fuckery they can pull out of their magic bag of bullshit movesets and while I generally enjoy that kind of thing, I know it's not for everyone. Most regular combat shouldn't be too tricky once you have a team comp that works well together but you also need to pay attention since the same team that carries you to victory one time might be worth beans against another dragon.
Final thoughts: This is... a really good game. Interesting story, really interesting characters, pretty world and a battle system that really makes you sit down and think. There's also a demo for this available in the e-shop and while your data doesn't carry over - you do receive multiple perks for carrying over your demo data including some exclusive items that, while not game breaking, do help a ton in the early stages of the game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn't a final list by any stretch of the word; I only have the energy to do these two right now, but the next games up for coverage are Ever Oasis and Stella Glow! If you're interested in my full plan of games I want to cover here then my current lineup includes: Theatrhythm: Curtain Call, Project Mirai: Deluxe, Culdecept Revolt, Alliance Alive, Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology, Etrian Odyssey V, Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse.
Finally, if anyone has played any of the games I mention, cover or plan to cover PLEASE REACH OUT TO ME, I AM SO LONELY IN MY FORTRESS OF SAND. On a serious note, I'd love to hear what other people who've played these games think!
Thanks for reading,
-Ginger
PS: @feralpeacock Because a million years ago, on my first underrated games post, you asked that I remember you. :D

So I'm a bit late starting dlc because of life, and the fact that I somehow spent 6 ish hours just downloading updates. Update for Violet, update for Home, update for Switch, Update for Violet AND Home. Like bro are you fr
As such I've only gotten an hour of play time so far, and unfortunately I've got stuff to do tomorrow so I can't play until the plumber's ass crack of dawn.
But I can still kinda sorta do first impressions?
1. Game still has very, very noticeable slow downs and pop ins. I guess that's just never getting fixed at this point. Major disappointment
2. That being said, graphics look a tad better
3. New characters are pretty enjoyable so far. Carmine is kind of a mean bitch- I like it. Briar, I'm gonna say, is definitely some secret villain.
4. New music is pretty fun. Like a mix of Paldea and Hisui- there's also some music you can hear when taking selfies that COULD? Be hinting towards a Johto game. Which is weird af because they tell us right out the gate that BBA is in UNOVA. I'm scarexcited and anxious.
5. I made a decision to only bring Pokémon that are around level 60 or under- a bit if a far cry from my dream team I was planning, but probably for the best since things are definitely pretty low ball right now. Think like IoA where Klara uses a level 60 something Venipede? Or Whirlipede? Can't remember.
So I'm gonna catch a whole new team for the most part I guess.
6. I CALLED IT, KITAKAMI IS IN JAPAN AND NOT THE NORTH EAST. Long plane ride, long bus ride, regular Wooper, it's definitely right under Sinnoh somewhere.
7. I just barely scraped the surface, but I'm not a fan of the rail roading. I was really hoping for a tad more freedom going in, but I guess that'll remedy itself when I can finally play for realsies.
I'm definitely looking forward to it. I've seen some stuff and I wanna get to the new stuff already.
As for my current team:
H Typhlosion: Shogun, lv 60. I actually caught and transferred him from my first playthrough of Legends Arceus after I beat the game. The rest of my team is too over powered, and some others are under powered. He fit the bill perfectly and I guess he's my unofficial starter for Kitakami
Furret: Scout, lv 51: Scout is actually a transfer from my 3ds Silver game, so technically she has slight seniority going back to 2017? Ish? But I've been missing my furry friend
Yanma: Racer, lv 54? I think? my first catch in Kitakami. He actually won a couple of battles already. Can't wait to get a Yanmega
H Samurott: Muramasa, lv 91... temporarily. I wanted to bring him as my main starter, but he's a bit too strong, so he's here for the ride until I can catch a blue pokemon and/or water type pokemon (I have this... thing where I'm uncomfortable without either on my team).
On the lookout for Poliwag next. The rest I'm not sure. Gonna try to use new Pokémon I haven't used from here on out

Fantasy Life (Part 1) - Welcome to Reveria!
Hello and welcome again to my Fantasy Life playthrough! In case you missed it, I'm going to blog on my experience with my favorite, but underrated 3DS game of all time other than Pokemon. You can visit this link to learn more, but other than that, let's start the game!
So do you remember some videos and yourself on how you were stuck on the character creation screen on Final Fantasy 14 Online?
The same thing happened to me with this game! I spent a minute trying to match my character with my online persona, even trying to rely on Fantasy Online avatar so I could get the hair and voice right! Thankfully, choosing a Life was less tedious because the game lets me change it in the middle of the gameplay, so I decided to choose the very same first Life I chose on FLO, which was Paladin.
Tumblr media
(Honestly, this is the easiest part of FL's character creation.)
As I mentioned, Life is another name for vocations and job classes in Fantasy Life. So if I mention Life or Lives, I might be talking about job classes or vocations in the game. Or probably the ones my Pokemon have that I'm trying to keep in my current FireRed Nuzlocke at this time of the post.
One small tip if you're planning to play Fantasy Life and Fantasy Life Online yourself: Always start with a Combat Life!
There are three types of Lives: Combat, Gathering, and Crafting. Combat for fighting, Gathering for gathering items. Crafting for...crafting stuff. But it's best if you start with Combat Life if you're starting the game. That way, you can learn how to fight quicker and gather items quicker from monsters. You can choose Gathering first if you want, but I don't recommend Crafting as your first unless you want to die because your only skill is cooking.
And a small spoiler alert for the DLC, but it's mainly gameplay spoilers. Later on in the post-game, I can change my character's appearance with an item. Unfortunately, the only downside is that I can't change my character's name and gender, which is understandable. I don't mind with the female clothing (which according to TV Tropes, female clothing has a lot of them, including the endgame gear), but I may play in a second save file, which I obviously can’t record on my blog due to redundancy, much preferably based on my certain favorite Pokemon Professor. (*coughs* Fanfic Foreshadowing! *coughs*)
But anyway, I named my new character "Spin" (because of character limitations) and started the new game.
(Click "Keep Reading" for the full playthrough post!)
-----
After I fell from my bed and woke up on the floor, my kind landlord, Pam came up to check on me and reminded me of my audience with the king of Castele for my first day as a new Paladin recruit. After I got my royal letter from a postman with a surprisingly good backhand, he directed me to the Guild Office where I could get my Paladin license and gave me her candy as she wished me luck.
Once I got my Paladin license, I heard a disturbance outside the office. I checked it out and saw a strange talking butterfly being harassed by two goofy guys. I know it was strange to see a talking butterfly, but I decided to ignore it and head to the castle.
That was until one of them suggested selling her for Dosh.
Tumblr media
(...They're dead.)
Being protective of strange animals and who is against trafficking, I confronted the goofy guys with a knife. But they just grabbed me, shook me down like a ragdoll, and grabbed Pam's Candy from my pockets because I'm Doshless.
(Disclaimer: Most of it I've mentioned in the playthrough didn't really happen in the game, but it's my playthrough and I'm a writer. At least give me a chance to tell my version of FL's story!)
Tumblr media
(BTW, had to add this god-tier line.)
After my attempt to rescue the butterfly ended in embarrassment, she thanked me for standing up and this was the part I started to like her and not think of her as a Navi wannabe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BURN!!!
After we said our farewells, I headed to the castle to get started on my new Life. Unfortunately, the Paladins seemed to miss the memo and just denied me on the grounds that I didn't follow the castle's dress code and commented that I looked like I got out of my bed.
Tumblr media
(But I just got out of bed!)
I left in defeat. But then, I saw the talking butterfly again, who also got denied because insects weren't allowed in the castle, which was a bit understandable, but still...
When we meet up again, we decided to go stealthy and let her disguised as my bowtie to get through the Paladins. Although I think it might have worked a bit too much.
Other than that, we finally made an audience to the king of Castele, Erik. Who for some reason looked like he's the Queen's child. After a long speech which I seemed to be the only one who was up, King Erik gave me 300 Dosh and a World Map to help me start my Life along with a Paladin armor.
Tumblr media
(Even I'm shocked about it myself...)
With that done, the butterfly and I decided to part ways yet again. However, it kind of stings a bit on my itty-bitty heart. She wasn't like any Navi wannabes I know and she has the guts to insult those goofy guys before. But then, she suggested she want to stay on my neck and I quickly said yes. So welcome to the team, Butterfly!
Tumblr media
(I agree!)
Although, calling her "Butterfly" might be a bit too long for me, so for the sake of my sanity, I'll just call her Flutter, which was her English name in the EU release.
After that, I headed to the Paladin Hold located near the castle where I met my Paladin Master, Captain Mustang, who had a big mustache and nose. He gave me a sword and shield to start with and my journey through Reveria has officially begun! But right after I start with the Paladin basics and rank up.
In Fantasy Life, you can get even stronger in any chosen Life by ranking up. You start out as a Novice rank where you spend the whole time learning the basics, getting to know your fellow characters related to it, and doing some big quest to rank up into your true first rank, Fledgling.
For my Paladin Novice quest, I got to learn the basics from my Paladin senpais, Roslyn and Isobel, namely how to use my sword without poking my eye out by accident. However, when we went to Porthos to help me learn how to wield my shield, he mentioned that something has happened in Appleseed Cafe and when he got there, the owner there told us that shipments of Castele Apples were delayed for some reason. I love Apple Juice next to grapes, mango, and orange, so we decided to investigate and stop a bunch of bandits before they took off with the bag of apples.
Tumblr media
Turns out, the princess of the castle (who I forgot to mention went missing during my meeting with King Erik earlier) loved Apple Juice, too. And because of my bravery, I was promoted into a Fledging and officially the newest addition to the Paladins.
When I went home, I introduced Pam to my new friend, Flutter and agreed to let her stay with me as a roommate along with giving me a new chair. Keyword being "New" because all I got was an old beat-up chair. Great...
Eventually, I went to bed and my Fantasy Life has begun!
But the next day, I woke up on the floor again.
Tumblr media
(Ow...)
After my rude awakening again, I decided to be Flutter's tour guide around Castele and showed her the Goddess Statue. There, we met an old man who told us the origins of Lives and the Life Goddess. Back before Reveria had Lives, the goddess came and helped create the world or something and even heard the wishes of the people. But it turned out that the goddess became a bit annoyed at hearing all of their wishes, that she decided to create Lives and shove it to their faces so they could shut up.
(Oh, wait. That's a bit of a rude retelling, was it? Let me try again.)
The goddess eventually succeeded in convincing people (in a civilized manner) to take a Life and because of that, she became a Life Goddess. However, the old man told us that lately, more people were wishing less, probably because they got what they wanted through hard work and sometimes, trickery and thievery. I'm a bit concerned about it, but Flutter won't stand for it for some reason and took it upon herself to collect wishes. I don't know why, though. But I applaud her determination.
She then asked for my wish, which was to become a writer. It's actually one of the choices prompted to me and honestly, that was my dream in real life and I would never change it for the better. Heck, I'm even living the dream just by doing this playthrough blog right now.
But back to the game, I toured her around the Guild Office where we learned how to switch Lives and multiplayer (which I doubt I can use for this playthrough) and the general store where I got some potion samples from the shopkeeper while Flutter tried them out by drinking most of them.
At this point, I should move forward to the story, but I decided to put it on hiatus so I could focus on trying out the other Lives. This is very important for my playthrough for what was to come. You have the option to skip the Novice tutorials, but I decided not to skip all of them for the sake of my playthrough. However, this is a bit long enough already, so I'll save them in the next post.
So join me next time as I take on all other 11 Lives in the game. It might be a long playthrough of tutorials.
I'll see you guys back in Reveria, probably tomorrow or so once I'm finished all of them. Stay safe and Happy Holidays!

facts about me that you could state to my face that would hurt more than that ask did
I own three copies of Okami HD, and have beaten exactly zero of them
I paid $40 for Balan Wonderworld, knowing full well that any enjoyment I drew from it as a game would be ironic, and I plan to spend another $10 on the novel so I can be mad about the fact that approximately two percent of the story actually made it into the game
I played Kingdom Hearts as a kid and was attracted to Zexion, and given I am currently attracted to another edgy squenix bastard with emo hair in the form of Therion Octopathtraveler, my taste has apparently not changed since I was ten
I played Sonic 06 and thought it wasn’t terrible
I learned and did a partial speedrun of PMD Red Rescue Team for the sake of getting on someone else’s Let’s Play of the remake
I tried streaming once, only to have to stop because my capture card ate my sound card
The last week and a half of my Spotify history is comprised almost entirely of the Persona 5 soundtrack and various covers of those songs
I’m a furry who can’t even decide on his own fursona’s species or design
I spend so much time reading Nuzlockes, challenge runs of Pokemon games, games for children, I was brought on as staff of the official forums
I do the aforementioned work as Nuzforums staff knowing full well that it is a volunteer position while I am unemployed in real life
I watched the Kirby anime as a kid instead of doing my schoolwork. Years later, I plan to rewatch it in its entirety instead of seeking employment
I voted for Bandana Waddle Dee in the Smash Ballot
On that topic, I’m a Kirby main! I played through the entirety of World of Light using only Kirby! Like, I love Kirby, but who the fuck mains him unironically like that? I don’t even do that strat of succing your opponents and spitting them out over the blast zone where they can’t recover or taking them down with you, like, cmon
I was in anime club in high school
Despite owning it, I’ve never played Among Us, but I still watch other people play it regularly
I didn’t realize the Guardians of Ga’hoole series was a WW2 allegory until I read the TV Tropes page in high school
I got into Kingdom Hearts for the Final Fantasy stuff, and yet to this day the only Final Fantasy game I’ve ever beaten was the DS rerelease of Final Fantasy III
I 100%ed Breath of the Wild less than three weeks after it released, and proceeded to help various streamers do the same, because I had literally nothing better to do with my time
As a teenager I uploaded two mashups, one of All Star and In The End, the other of All Star and Lonely Rolling Star, to YouTube because in the summer the only device I had to get online with was a Nintendo 3DS, I wanted to be able to listen to them year round, and my 3DS would not play Soundcloud uploads
I’m currently making a mashup of the Balan Wonderworld credits theme and Wonderwall
I think Pokemon peaked in Gen V and I trust Spike Chunsoft with the series more than I trust modern GameFreak
I have owned literally every Animal Crossing game except Amiibo Festival, but I do still own Amiibo from the sets released for it
I’m still waiting for Pikmin 4!
I’m still waiting for another real Chibi-Robo sequel!
I’ve still not beaten the prior games in the series despite owning them, but I’m still waiting for Bayonetta 3!
I dip dill pickle spears in chocolate pudding Snack Packs and I enjoy it
I know all the lyrics to the opening of Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, that anime special that was viewable exclusively on Pokemon Channel
I plan to romance Ann in my first playthrough of Persona 5 Royal purely for the sake of cucking the cat. I do not plan to do this because I dislike Morgana, but simply because I think it would be funny
I say KEKW, Pog, OMEGALUL, and Sadge in real life, with my actual human mouth
I have spent money on microtransactions for mobile games
I bought well over a dozen packs of the Unbroken Bonds Pokemon TCG expansion in an attempt to obtain a rainbow rare Reshiram & Charizard GX. I found zero of them
Until earlier today, when I cleaned out my drawers of old clothes I no longer wear, I owned two Big Bang Theory shirts. Instead of burning them like a reasonable person, I donated them to my local Goodwill for some other poor fool to find
At the age of 23, I still cannot swim
I’ve gotten used to every other bug in my house, including the bees in the walls and the stinkbugs who refuse to just stay outside, but whenever I see a silverfish I consider committing arson
I collect dice but do not play D&D or any other TTRPG, I just think they’re neat
I’m too physically weak to take apart a PS4 controller
I haven’t ridden a bike in a decade, and at this point if I tried I would probably fall over or ride uncontrollably into the street and be hit by a car
I still have art on my wall of a Pokemon character I made in sixth grade at the absolute latest
I buy sketchbooks despite not drawing traditionally literally ever
I cannot draw on a normal tablet, because I look at my hands instead of the screen, and so I had to buy a 2-in-1 laptop to do art
I bite my nails
I compulsively pluck the hairs from my legs
Despite compulsively plucking the hairs on my legs, I cannot be bothered to do the same for the ones that have grown into a unibrow
When I was a child a goose whacked me with its wing
I’ve been bitten by two dogs, one of which bit me twice
Despite domesticated animals hating me, I’m the world’s worst Disney Princess, having taught a grey catbird to recognize Zelda music and having watched the entirety of Avatar the Last Airbender with a baby mourning dove perched in the bush outside the window watching with me
I spell grey grey instead of gray despite being American
I’m American
I’m still on tumblr in 2021
do with this information as you will
