Wait wait, there are some interesting implications from this episode.
Sun and Neptune talk about “the night they got the case.” “The case” either means the day they decided to start looking into RWBYJ’s whereabouts, or (more likely) it’s a euphemism for the day this became a problem, aka the day Atlas arrived to Vacuo but RWBYJ didn’t. They said it was “stormy” the day they got the case, and although the visuals use a rainstorm, there was in fact a sandstorm the day everyone arrived (plus, Vacuo rarely gets rainstorms).
They said they got this case yesterday. Which means that this takes place the day after volume 8. This explains why Qrow was so quiet and angry.
This also means that a lot got done in one day: Raven arrived, the summer maiden was summoned to the academy, and most importantly, Ozpin’s whole deal was explained. Sun and Neptune kept correcting each other on calling him Oscar/Ozpin, like it’s new information that they’re just getting used to. But also, it’s something that they know about. They know about the maidens, too.
This means they also probably know about the relics.

LU AU | Power Shift
A strange dungeon challenge forces The Chain’s items/powers to swap with each other! Oh my! Aka an idea I had that started with me thinking about what would happen if Warriors drew the 4Sword after reading “My Heart’s Forsaken Me”, which then spiraled into this, somehow. Speaking of Wars, let’s start with him:
Warriors - Four - The 4Sword has spilt him up and he can’t convince his other selves to rejoin. His different colors represents different parts of a Five/Four man band, instead of just different emotions.
Green - The closest to the original and The Leader. Very embarrassed by his other selves. He wears the regular Hero’s Clothes, a green tunic with a blue scarf. The rest of the color’s clothes are based on other Hero’s Clothes outfits in the HW game.
Red - The mischievous one who’s always butting heads with the others, he’s The Lancer. He loves to use all of Four’s items, and if the dungeon didn’t ban him from using other people’s weapons, he would steal borrow all the items he wants. He wears the red(since there’s two of them)Wind Walker version of the Hero’s Clothes, a red tunic with a teal scarf.
Blue - The one who would be the sweet one if not for getting constantly frustrated by the other colors. He’s very friendly to Time and Wind, but mostly Wind. He looks kinda sad around Time, and is generally very expressive. He’s insistent on helping anybody he can, he’s The Heart. He wears the Grand Travels version of the Hero’s Clothes, a blue tunic with a red scarf and yellow pants.
Whitney - Similar to Vio, this guy has more of a normal person name, a combination of White and Pinkie, the first two nicknames that were suggested to him. Like Vio, he was also named by Red. He wears the Koholint version of the Hero’s Clothes, which is almost fully white, with the scarf being a light pink and some pink accents on his tunic. He’s the silent tactician of the group, he’s The Brains.
Four - Sky - He is not at all used to carrying around the Master Sword, it being practically the length of his entire body. Once he can successfully swing it, he is able to do a Skyward Strike, but it’s a bit of a challenge. Quite a few of Sky’s items are similar to some of his own, so he mostly knows what he’s doing. He loves the Beetle, he uses it all the time and tries to figure out what he can do to upgrade it. So far, he hasn’t figured anything out yet. But unfortunately, he now he has to deal with Sky’s limited sprinting stamina, sadly not being able to use his Pegasus Boots.
Sky - Legend - Now Sky’s the one who can run to his heart’s content. He has face planted into many walls however. He also has many magical items that he has no idea how to use. It’s a little overwhelming to say the least. Why does Legend have so many rings? At least the Tempered Sword is cool.
Legend - Wind - He can use all of Wind’s items perfectly well, but whatever amount of paranoia he had has now gone through the roof. His items, his precious items that could easily kill Sky if he’s not careful with them, his precious items that could get lost, his precious items that he can’t use-needless to say that he’s not having a good time right now. But he’s holding on, just sticking close to Sky’s side to make sure everything’s okay. And also to laugh at him when he keeps face planting into a wall.
Wind - Twilight - Wind is having the time of his life right now. All of Twilight’s items are so fun to use, he loves the cute little Bomblings and uses the Spinner a lot with Red!Wars. The most exciting thing is that he can turn into a wolf-a sea wolf/coastal wolf specially-with the Shadow Crystal. It’s not too different than experience than using a Hyoi Pear on a seagull, in his opinion anyway. He is very wrong. He also now has Twilight’s marking on his face, and he thinks he looks cool.
Twilight - Time - The markings on his face have been replaced with the ones Time have. He is…kinda confused on what they mean and Time isn’t really giving him any straight answers about it, but the masks are very cool and fun to use. But the strange feeling he constantly has, the strange, almost whispers that he can barely hear, he knows something is wrong. The spirits of Termina are awake, trying to get him to fight literally everything. The Lens of Truth is pretty useful, and magic is cool.
Time - Wild - This wouldn’t be the worst set of items for Time to have, if not for the fact that he also got Wild’s curse of everything just crumbling in his hands all the time. It sucks and he is not at all used to it. Everyone’s a bit more sympathetic towards Wild now. Time’s also a whole lot better with a bow now. He wasn’t bad with them before, but now time seems to slow down when he jumping down from a platform, bow drawn, raining down arrows on the enemies. But now he can’t even tread water without wanting to collapse into himself like a pile of goo. Damn you stamina.
Wild - Hyrule - He was excited about the unlimited* arrows at first, but unfortunately, he was struck with the tiny wallets that can only hold up to 999 rupees. The magic and the rest of the items are amazing though, even though he keeps burning through his magic meter since he keeps thinking it’ll refill on its own. It does not.
Hyrule - Warriors - Since in HW you use items from different games, Hyrule can just use whoever’s items he wants. Basically ignoring some of the limits set by the dungeon. He didn’t understand the combos, weak point smashes, focus spirit, all of that stuff until Wars tells him about it. He still doesn’t really get it but he tries.
I don’t really have a story for this, just spun a wheel and thought this would be a fun idea. Anyone can take any part of this concept and run with it, please @ me so I can see. I also think the name Whitney is inherently funny.

poyt 5 is such a fucking rollercoaster, y’all! like i feel like people may not like it bc it’s so all over the place and it reads more like a book than a chapter 😭😭 in the sense that there isn’t just a beginning - middle - climax - end. It’s more like, a bazillion ups and downs, about three climaxes, three very emotional and poignant scenes (although I guess the main heart-wrenching scene is the big one in the middle, and then there’s a lot of mini heart-wrenches) and then there’s also a bit of comedic stuff which we haven’t seen in the other poyt parts, and some heavy romance stuff and revelation stuff, of course the main biggest climax, and then the ending and then the epilogue…
I guess I’m saying all this bc I feel like people will get bored halfway through bc it’s so super long 😭😭😭😭 I’m so so so anxious about people losing interest bc poyt 5 is very different structure wise 😭 I just threw EVERYTHING in without caution and now I’m editing and it’s like… some scenes are way too long but then I don’t want to cut anything, I feel like everything is so important to the story!!! And I keep thinking back to poyt 4 to reassure myself, bc it was 22k words long but I remember some of you saying that it didn’t FEEL like 22k words bc it went by quickly! I JUST HOPE y’all feel the same way about poyt 5😭

my lil muslim self had the most self indulgent thought jenekdjje. idk how religion goes by way of like… idk let’s just pretend for a second that the abrahamic religions exist in ninjago.
I’m not a hijabi but during ramadan i do cover my hair so my thought was like maybe the hypothetical reader and Lloyd are study buddies and it’s the first day of ramadan when he comes over to study and the reader answers the door with hair covered. Idk i think he’d be so curious.
I don’t see much Muslim reader content on here so i have to fill the gaps myself. I just wanted to share :))
I love this, this is so adorable! He’d absolutely be so full of questions and would keep asking more and more about reader’s religion until the study date’s totally forgotten.
He’d probably ask something along the lines of “do you want me to cover my hair, too?” He wants to be involved as much as you’re willing. He might even ask to join in on the evening prayer, “but only if you’re comfortable with it!”
As soon as the sun goes down you know his next big ninja mission is to get you some food!

milgramtober - day 24 - novel 1/2
Black board lyrics from ‘Angel’ by Jack Stauber
I really like the first novel I’m not finished reading the summary but I think the ideas it was laying out were really interesting especially with the angelic symbolism , the reoccurring theme of idolisation two face idolises the idol and when they die they start idolising es and close idolises two face if i’m remembering correctly closes brother idolises her as well , trying to prevent something only to become the cause two face thought himself the cause for the idols death so tried to not repeat the same mistake with es but he ended up being the cause of her death - close tried to stop the black board messages but ended becoming an accomplice instead , the use of separation from identity with the milgram names and the pen names before that and es scape goat symbolism!
I honestly find its cast and story to be interesting but frustrating that since their isn’t a translation I can’t understand it fully.
I couldn’t find a non-prison uniform reference for the characters so kinda just made it up…
explaining the art a little es is in the centre because two face made her centre of attention and theres what’s supposed to be the light if a projector because everyone projects their problems onto her same with the fingers their blaming her for there problems point and shifting the blame , the phones are because of how the bullies try and take photos of es and how she’s being filtered though a lens they don’t know her very well and can only see her though the tint of their preconceptions and the x are in chalk because with out the messages they won’t have been there. Es has a book as a reference to the books the prisoners have containing their memories , the books closed on lookers don’t care or see her experiences or feelings (the contents of the book) but also makes es seem like she was interrupted like she was just trying to read = live her life , also how shes the warden in the first novel (the little tassel is a reference to how some people draw our es? Idk what to call them non-novel es? Music es’s hat) theres a large black board behind obviously referencing the black board messages even though she’s not looking at it the onlookers are and its always present , two face and close are at different angles then the rest of the elements and don’t have their faces in view because of how they are both anonymous with the black board writing and not looking at es and how she’s struggling. The broken heart on the chalk board is because of how close betrayed es and a reference how es died breaking her head.

i’ve seen a bit of talk around the community about AG making less quality dolls and cutting corners. and like - you’re not imagining things, they absolutely are doing that. but there is a piece of this conversation that I think gets brushed over a lot, and i think it’s important: american girl dolls are cheaper then they used to be.
before you start telling me i’ve lost my mind, let’s look at some numbers. the original pleasant company dolls were manufactured in Germany and released in 1986; for a doll with her softcover book, the price was $68. “WAIT,” i hear you cry, “that’s less expensive!” however:
it’s actually pretty significantly MORE expensive.
even looking at the prices i remember from my own childhood:
not as much, but that’s still a bit more expensive that the ag dolls of today.
now, quite a few things have made this drop in cost possible. ag dolls are now produced in countries where labor markets are less regulated and therefore labor costs are cheaper (aka workers are able to be exploited for greater profits), modern tech has made some production processes faster and automated, and some materials are cheaper to acquire. however, ag has still absolutely lowered production quality as well. it’s hard to tell if they HAD to, but I would assume they did at least a bit, in order to keep the profit per doll at the same amount or increasing (which would be necessary to please investors, not have to do layoffs, etc.).
does that mean we should stop pointing out the flaws with newer dolls? no, absolutely not! what it DOES mean is that when we have discussions about ag’s decrease in quality, we ought to put those discussions in context.
this was prompted by a video on youtube that I just watched about ag’s quality control issues, which claimed the dolls are more expensive now than ever, and they are simply not. yes, they cost more United States Dollars than ever before, but the usd is worth less than what it used to be worth. even with the recent price increase, ag dolls are actually selling for less than they have for most of the brand’s history!
the reality is - ag can increase the price and make better quality dolls, or they can hold steady on the price and make lower quality dolls. they really do have to pick. and like. with the way people reacted when they increased the price recently, I’m pretty sure they’re going to be sticking with shrinkflation for a good few years coming up, whether you and I like it or not.
that does not, of course, mean they should not face criticism! they, like every other company choosing to lower quality rather than increase prices, are likely to try and get away with some nonsense. it is very tempting for companies to try and push lowered production costs as far as they can, but these dolls still cost $115! they should certainly still be high quality!
however, if you want the new dolls to be as high quality as the older dolls, you will likely be disappointed. I can’t think of any company that has willingly reversed course to have LESS of a profit margin without major pushback that would have eaten into their bottom line otherwise (stuff like perma panties).
this is a difficult conversation because the reality is, even with the cost dropping as inflation catches up, AG dolls are still quite expensive, and very inaccessible to most kids, and many adult collectors as well. i personally am happy that they’re slightly more accessible these days to the kids and collectors who love them (though wealth disparities in the us continue to increase, so are they actually accessible to any more people than they were back in the day when they were more expensive? idk), but im also stuck wishing they were a bit higher cost and higher quality, for my own personal enjoyment and collection.
sadly, there is no simple conclusion here. life is complicated. so are economies and the companies that participate in them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ nonetheless, may you go forth and continue to write well-deserved criticisms with just a bit more context behind you.
