yeah short tops have that problem too.
like in an anime I'm invested in, bungou stray dogs, people usually take these two characters- chuuya and dazai, and say dazai is the top because he's taller than chuuya. I, personally, heavily disagree.
But I think this became such a common trope because of cis woman fetishizing gay people. I don't exactly remember the origins of it.
I haaate when people do that omfg
Like DKBK, deku x Kacchan from BNHA, if you even say you prefer top deku, you will be crucified by bkdk (at least back then)
Cuz Kacchan is the angry one and deku is the sweet one so obviously deku must bottom!??!??
😤 still angry over that…
I can’t fully talk about the fetishization part.. but it definitely did affect some aspects of shipping… especially when fan art will hugely feminize the bottom

looking for long- term rp partners!
hey there! So I’m looking for someone to rp the following ships with me long term. Before I get started though, I just want to make it known that I don’t to with anyone under 18, nsfw rp or not. It just doesn’t sit right with me.
as for triggers/ boundaries, we can discuss that when we get there.
the following ships I’d like to do are:
Bkdk/dkbk
Huskerdust
Steddie
looking back on it now it’s really not that many lol, but I have no preference for who I play really, it just depends on the plot. Please message me if you’re interested and I’ll send you my discord so we can get started!

Hi, I'm the anon who asked "doom toxic yaoi". What I mean is : this pairing can have negative impact to each other, 'wrong time, right person' kinda thing, also doom by the narative.
Sorry I know that term mostly used for 80's & 90's BL pairing in BL manga or from shoujo (like CLAMP) that have tragic ending, but I see people used it for non-canon pairings in shounen, too....
And GoGe means Gojo as top (seme) and GeGo means Getou as the top (seme). Same with BkDk means Bakugou as top (seme) and vice versa.
For me, I don't mind if they're switching but I prefer top Gojo (GoGe) and top Midoriya (DkBk)....
Again, sorry for my rambling, and if you're not into seme/uke dynamics. It's just when I first enter SatoSugu fandom, one of the thing they asked is that, are you shipper for top Gojo or top Getou (the same when I asked for fics recs).
I mostly read BL manga/manhwa and danmei. But Gojo/Getou, Ash/Eiji and Bakugou/Midoriya are just special. Their stories are great and their dynamic with each other are amazing. And your blog specialize with them. Thanks so much for your blog @neonscandal .....
OKAY re: this ask, thanks for the clarification. Bearing that in mind, the phrase absolutely makes sense for that era as things were toxic as hell. It's giving Junjo Romantica lol
I think BakuDeku canonically makes each other better. They complement one another in how they think they're meant to be heroes and their competitiveness acts as a catalyst for their individual improvement. Over time, they've become way more cohesive but, at the onset it looked pretty dicey.
SatoSugu.. I think that may have been a one-sided improvement. Geto encouraged Gojo to be more humble and consider his responsibility toward the weak and, while I wonder if we'll get another side to the story as we did with Gojo, right now I would say that things were going well until they weren't. We could argue Gojo perhaps gave Geto more confidence but circumstances kinda dashed that, didn't they?
Never a need to apologize, my blog is literally all rambles 😅 I'm very familiar with the seme/uke situation, just can't say I have a preference. I tend to emphasize boring, domestic bliss type of fluff so take that with a grain of salt haha

bkdk and dkbk are literally the same ship with the same two people. quite frankly it’s a little disgusting that fictional characters and often real people are dehumanized into literal sex positions. it’s ridiculous and gross and it needs to stop. what people like to read and write in their smut is just a personal preference and if you don’t like it, don’t read it. respect others. it’s that simple. stop reducing fictional characters that don’t even exist into sex positions because I can’t even properly voice how stupid this whole debate is. get a life.

BKDK/DKBK Opinions
So I just want to get something off my chest. I am normally pretty active in fandoms when I hyper fixate on them especially a ship. But this fandom has me so damn hesitant that I pretty much just look at content and don’t interact anymore. And not just MHA itself but the shipping section even of BKDK/DKBK. Which is really sad because I REALLY enjoy this pair’s dynamic and it’s flexibility.
I stay out of drama because I REALLY don’t need it. Nor care for it. I just like feeding on the content FREELY given to me.
Maybe I’m old.
But WHY is there discourse over who is on top or bottom STILL in this day and age? Or discourse over someone’s head canon or plot point HC for a piece of art or story they made?
Why can’t content just be enjoyed? I mean what happened to safe spaces? What happened to sharing silly ideas or whatever and being comfortable with that?
Idk about you guys, but for me I don’t give a flying fuck if Baku or Deku is a top, bottom, switch, trans, ace, nonbinary, pro hero, quirkless, one is hairy and the other isn’t, one has gross toes and the other doesn’t, who cooks better, etc. I don’t care!! It’s okay to like what you like and have preferences of course but don’t scream at people who don’t have the exact same as you.
If I don’t like something I just scroll on by and literally forget about it to enjoy the stuff I do like. I don’t know why that’s difficult or why some people feel the need to tear someone down for a difference of idea or opinion.
I’ve seen AMAZING content makers leave the fandom for bullying and not just by non shippers I mean bullied by people they SHOULD have common ground with. I’ve seen useless arguments over dumb stuff……
I WANT to have friends and be active but damn I’m hesitant about sharing ideas because my fuck what if I say “here’s a thought - baku has a hairy chest” and everyone freaks the fuck out about it? Vs just idk going with it and being silly???
All I can do is speak for me. I’m a SAFE person. Meaning I won’t make fun of or bully someone for their ideas even if it’s not the same as me. I’m sorry to anyone who puts up with that.
All that said I just want people to know if you don’t have someone to go to or you’re worried about your idea or content etc. I’ll listen to you. Bkdk / dkbk is a fun ship and there’s so much that can be done with it.
I miss inclusion in fandom.
Just wanted to get that off my chest. I know there are many many many good people here and I’m LUCKY to stay out of the drama. But I do see it and it’s not just here on tumblr.
My little barely active corner is and will always be a safe spot. (I might be a little shy etc but when I know someone’s comfy with me I’m happy to message anytime. But I’m always around on my phone and am happy to hear you.)

Hey this is my-hero-lemillion, I read one of your other fics and I was wondering specifically why you like dkbk over bkdk and also why Katsuki and Izuku prefer it that way in your fics? This isn’t meant as anything negative! I’m just trying to understand better where they’re coming from because it still seems the opposite of what I’d expect 😅
Woof, this is kind of my can of worms question, so I'm just gonna dump under the cut. But to answer part, I tried sooo hard not to really say that the boys prefer dkbk in Feel It In My Body, but I also, like...just kind of couldn't help it, because it's my preference. And I wanted dkbk to be the way they continued in the next scenes, so I kind of had to justify that. But in my head, they're switches. I think it makes the most sense, and I think in the Feel It In My Body universe they would be, probably more so as time went on. As for what my heart wants, it's dkbk only and I'll explain under the cut.
Obvious disclaimer, these reasons are all just about what feels good in my unique brain with all my unique predispositions. The last thing I want is to contribute to the divide between bkdks and dkbks, so this is just me vibing in my little bubble. I've enjoyed bkdk content in my time and will certainly continue to come across great ones, but it's just not my preference atm. With that out of the way, remember, you asked for it 😂👀
So, dkbk is the opposite of what most people expect and, for me, that's a lot of why it works and why it hits harder. I actually was a bkdk first when I was first exploring the ship, because there's a lot more content for it, and so that's what came up. It made sense, it was good content, and I enjoyed it. Then I read some dkbk doujins by the illustrious Cai, and, well, I was a goner. Cai's stories are angsty and complex and tense and that was a beautiful introduction into dkbk.
For me, dkbk lends itself to complexity because bkdk is the more obvious route. Where bkdk is straightforward, dkbk creates tension. Where bkdk is stereotypical, dkbk is subversive. With bkdk, you often have an inherently, like, bossy and demanding and powerful Bakugou and a Deku who is so willing to give Bakugou what he wants. This is not bad and it's not out of character. But--and I don't want to lean into the territory of bashing bkdk--for me, bkdk fics very easily step past those traits into characterization that I don't like. A feminized Deku who, like, bends so easily to Baku and a Baku who's just rather aggressive, tho usually at least somewhat loving, without a lot more depth.
Granted, the more time I spend with dkbks, the more I see equal and opposite content from them, tho it did take a lot more time for me to come across it in such quantities. As someone who really just likes strict canonverse settings and characterizations, I just can't get into feminization and size difference and a bkdkbk that are too simplistic in their relationship, lacking the many colors in their characterization.
Dkbk lends itself to that complexity. You have a Deku who leans into the traits that he's been developing since the pilot. His authority, his power, his strength, his confidence, and his generosity. Really sexy traits that I do believe will only grow as he becomes an adult. Because of this, Deku's traits are not only more attractive to me in dkbk, but more compelling. He's much more interesting, to me, as a guy who takes charge than one who--apologies for the turn of phrase--bends over. And I think it's very obviously who he's become in canon, so it's hard to read anything in which he loses his traits of stubbornness and even greed. Those are big Deku qualities and they aren't as present in bkdk.
And, of course, Baku's my favorite character, so a lot of this is about him, and what bottoming looks like on him. When I look at bkdkbk, I see Deku who's happy to receive any kind of love from Baku. Meanwhile, Baku has many more walls up around his relationship to Deku, and even though sex is intimate regardless, it feels like an extra layer of the onion peeled away for him to allow Deku inside him, to do something he might fear as submissive (even outside of bdsm). It feels like a larger gesture of trust to me than Deku bottoming does, because I don't think Deku would really think twice about a difference in intimacy between topping and bottoming. He's used to not having control, and even though he loves having it, I don't think that he would feel out of control with Bakugou, if he were bottoming. I think Bakugou would, at least at first.
I also think that Deku would know how big it would be for Baku to trust him like that, and that it would truly mean the world to him. In an even bigger way than having sex in other ways. That Baku would be trusting Deku to take care of him, something that I imagine it would take ages for Baku to do in any right, much less in a romantic relationship. This would mean years of progress, and that wouldn't be lost on Deku for a moment.
I mean, all of this really comes down to how much of a softy I am, doesn't it? The dkbk dynamic lends itself so well to lovemaking in that regard, with Baku being vulnerable and Deku being giving. I love seeing Baku be able to let go and Deku feel like he's providing, that he's doing right by his lover. This is when these two characters are at their most attractive to me.
There are also so many interesting storytelling opportunities to have with a Baku who struggles to let go and a Deku to coax him through it. On any number of levels. Then getting to the other side with a Baku who allows himself to feel good in this way after being initially hesitant is so rewarding. A Baku who lets Deku in after being initially hesitant. For me, everything on the other side with dkbk is so much more rewarding than with bkdk.
In conclusion, I can't say for sure what the boys would really like anatomically. Some of top/bottom preference comes down to mindset, of course, but a huge part of it is obviously body-centric, and these are not embodied characters. It's all conjecture and preference. I don't really care for the conjecture, but I do obviously feel strongly, in a personal sense, about my preference. I only seek out dkbk at this point, but still occasionally consume bkdk either in djs or in highly recommended fics. There is simply miraculous content on both sides and there's truly shitty, can't possibly speak of it content on both sides. The more time I spend on one side, the more I find of both sides of that spectrum. And, to be fair, a lot of what I've just said probably exists more in my head than it does in the fandom itself, since bkdkbk is such a popular ship that, really there's so much of every kind of content for it out there these contrasts I'm making are nigh on useless. There's too much content to ever be able to consume enough to draw real conclusions. Most of what I've said is honestly how I see the characters in my writing, and, well, since I've retired from writing nsfw, it's nearly moot. That aside, it's just how I narrow down what fics I seek out and most highly rate, review, and rec.
I do appreciate the question tho, and god save ya if you read all the way to the bottom here, haha. I do find it an interesting one, tho it so often stirs up negativity. I'm not trying to encourage you to be a diehard dkbk like I am, and I super appreciate your willingness to explore both. Like I said, there's top tier stuff on both sides, and it's a blessing to consume any of it.

I’ve been meaning to say something about this anyway so might as well say it now: I say bkdk over dkbk for no particular reason at all, and not as a statement of preference. If anything it’s because writing it the other way around feels like more of a statement. Whenever I make a post about them it has nothing to do with sex anyway, so I hope no one reads into it. Makes tagging things kinda awkward though.
Of course I’m not trying to distance myself from or judge people with these preferences for sexual content but I just want to say that it feels weird to me that I can’t not imply anything. Like even if I say dkbkdk to include everyone it’s still making it about top/bottom stuff which for my personal enjoyment and imagination is not something I care about, let alone project out onto their personalities or relationship dynamic. I just... idk, maybe I’m overthinking this or missing some unspoken rule that maybe like, bkdk is also an umbrella term or whatever. Please feel free to share your thoughts, in reblogs or asks, not replies preferably, because this is a side blog and I can’t respond to replies with it

Things you look for in fanfic: bkdk/dkbk
ask game
i don't read fics often so i honestly don't have a lot of preferences for bkdk fics
but normally i'll at least look for fluff/crack, something funny and lighthearted is usually my go to. like i'll specifically look for fics with Katsuki Bakugou/Izuku Midoriya Is a Dork tags
i tend to avoid angst because i don't enjoy it as much, but light angst with a happy ending is something i'll read on a good day
i also really like quirkless/collage AUs and stuff where they live in more our world, no specific reason i just like em

hey there! welcome. some things to note about this blog:
-I’m relatively new here (a couple of years), but I have been on tumblr since like 2012 so nothing surprises me anymore
-not spoiler free, but stuff related to manga leaks and new chapters will be tagged with “bnha manga spoilers” and the chapter number. generally I don’t post super in-depth discussions until on or after the official release.
-I don’t make/rb anything nsfw, not that I’m against it I just don’t
-apparently I’m obligated to warn you that I’m a bakudeku shipper, in case that wasn’t obvious from my ya know *gestures broadly* so if that’s not your thing you can walk away and respect or ignore others at a distance like I do. I dont have anything against izuocha, kiribaku, etc. but I love characters with strong bonds that are difficult to define and bkdk scratches that itch for me
-^Also! I say bkdk a lot of the time but I have no dynamic preference and most of what I say applies to both bkdk and dkbk, or neither, really. I wish there was a term for neither.
