#my art #pokemon #braixen #pkmn #starter pokemon #YAAAAY only took like 8 days working on off and on WHBDFJKHGB i reworked the pose a bunch #and im really happy with how it came out!!! i may have gone overboard with the shading but thats ok bc i had fun #when i was trying to figure out the fire i accidentally deleted the lining and i did not notice that i did that. so when i went to see if i #could get it back. i could not. so i had to redo the lining HAHA really annoying but its ok bc i still had the sketch and the coloring #using this as a segue to talk about my delphox lucky. my first non handmedown pokemon game was x #so it was a really big deal for me right. i was ten. i picked fennekin [i usually go for the grass starters but fennekin is one of the #exceptions to this] and to my delight my fennekin was a female. and to me that was the luckiest thing ever so i obviously named her lucky #i got her to max happiness and she was the first pokemon i leveled up to lvl 100 without cheating #the fennekin line will always have a soft spot in my heart and i will always include a female delphox named lucky in my dream team lineup

And my mom also redid her day 10! We didn't plan that, it just worked out that way

#i'm really happy with how this one came out!#the line art isn't as good because i just traced it from the first one instead of carefully measuring things out and using a straight-edge #but the coloring is much better because i put so much time into it #the big black blocks were much easier due to my remembrance of my dear friend paint #the shading for the pillars and statue at the top of the page are also courtesy of my dear friend paint #also! internet amphibian person! you keep saying how cool it is that so many people did it #but i would like to say that it's really cool that you made it in the first place #for several years now i've been meaning to begin drawing and amphibuary struck me with a lightning bolt of inspiration #and you always add commentary to every piece!#even if it's just a simple ''very cute'' or pointing out a detail you like that's still really cool of you!#all through february one of the highlights of my morning has been checking my notifications and seeing what kind words you had about my art #i thank you as i'm sure many others do as well

I just need to make a full ref sheet for everybody in The Vanishing of Gregory Cooper!! since it's my favorite fic I've written I'm suprised I've only drawn for it once and it was in my sketchbook

What's with art communities and forgetting people can just do things for fun and not be professional about it??

#ax speaks #advice is ALWAYS catered to “how to survive as a professional artist”#like yeah cool this is all great but I just wanted to know how to make my art cool not the rules I need to follow to get hired #good anatomy does not equal good art #good dialogue does not equal good art #encourage creativity divergence and experimentation #shade with black. make big thick messy lines. make your lighting completely nonsensical #make weird uncomfortable dialogue. narrate casually. space out your words strangely for effect. write in the second person #of course all of it can be executed badly that's why professionals tell you to stay away from it #but if you execute it in your own way and make it work you can really push the bounds of being an artist #the question should always be “goes it feel good” rather than “is it correct” when creating something #the next time someone asks you for drawing advice don't tell them to make the lines less shaky or to use more muted colors #tell them exactly what you would do to make their art look sick as hell #or if someone asks for writing advice don't tell them the structure of a story or what words to use #tell them exactly what your favorite parts are to focus on like dialogue or how you came up with the part you had the most fun writing

The eight robot masters of Mega Man Ultimate are my pride and joy. As evident by their intro posts, plenty of thought went into the conceptualization of each bot, and it was very fun to revisit their initial 2018 designs and sprite them while making a few design tweaks for their big tumblr debut!

However, while I was taking a good look at the sprites I had made of the octet of renegades, I noticed something... I was fairly satisfied with every sprite I had drawn, though I felt as though I could do a lot better with one in particular, both in terms of his sprite and his design as a whole...

Strafe Man, the overconfident high-flyer.

Unlike the other seven members of the Synth Legion, Strafe Man's design had hardly been altered since I first settled on a design for him back in 2018— the most he had ever really gotten was a color change here or there, and I've also found that he's the single most underrated robot master of the eight in spite of proclaiming to be the coolest.

Let's fix that, shall we?

With a flashier winged helmet, bigger wings and a much more arduous arsenal, Strafe Man has officially been done justice! My goal was to give him a more detailed and streamlined design compared to his 2018 counterpart (Which there wasn't inherently anything wrong with, he just looked plain alongside the other SLN units), and I'm certain I succeeded in achieving just that!

#Star's Art #Mega Man Ultimate #Rockman U: The Renegades Rise #Mega Man #Rockman #Strafe Man #SLN-007 #Synth Legion Numbers #Coolness #I didn't want this to be a particularly long post so I've decided to save most of the details for the tags...#... but I just H A D to show Strafe Man's new digs the moment I could!#The first thing I wanted to change was Strafe Man's color scheme.#I decided to swap out the dark blue color with a light blue color to look a bit more in-line with a usual sky themed RM #Doing so allowed me to shade the white areas of his sprite with a color other than his skin tone which looks a WHOLE lot better!#After that it was high time to fix the wings on his helmet #They were based off of an unused design for Tornado Man that was so cool that it'd be a crime to leave it unused #So I took quite some time to redraw them to look exactly how I wanted them to as well as putting my own spin on them!#I then spent some time making his torso in particular slightly more Mega Man-esque #I used the Stardroids from MMV for inspiration as I have with other SLN units and liked what I came up with!#Lastly... I decided to up the ante on Strafe Man's wing size and missile launchers #I wanted his wings to be a bit more wide and his missile launchers to shoot more than one rocket at once...#... as the latter would make sense when you take into consideration that his weapon name is 'Strafe Barrage'...#... so with some experimentation his wings were redesigned and at last I had a finalized Strafe Man design!#Now he looks LEAGUES better alongside with his cohorts!!#Oh! And one more detail... now he has a visor that covers his eyes for when he's flying at high speeds #That's been a design element since his 2018 incarnation but I finally found a way to take that concept and sprite it!
