i have to be so real. sometimes you have to outright not give a shit what the author thinks. i’m not saying to disregard how a character is portrayed and give into fanon characterisations but sometimes i will see fans be like “(head writer) omggg do you think this character is a good person?” “how would this character react if xyz happened?” as though that’s not a question you can and have to answer for yourself.! any character can contain multitudes and if you keep limiting your perception of them solely on word of god its not fun for the writer or even yourself anymore. Thinking about meeting with my tutor after their class to talk about my performance, my direction in life and my aspirations and goals. Only taking it half seriously as i take everything, their genuine concern and guidance met with avoidance more than dismissal, but still frustrating for them. They tell me im a smart man, with a potential they would hate to see me waste because of apathy. I listen to placate them more than anything else. When they say that it would benefit me to plan for my future, to find my passion and dedicate myself to it, i scoff lightly, breaking eye contact and smiling a little as i brush off their earnest pleading with a teasing "yeah, whatever dad." When i look back after a beat, their face has changed. The stillness and silence in the room suddenly tight with tension as i realise they didn't brush that one off. They look me up and down with a casual sort of surveyance as i break eye contact again, swallowing thickly as i try and fail to keep my breathing steady. "Look at me." Their voice is smooth and even. My obedience is instant. They speak more concisely now, more deliberate. As they continue I'm hanging on their every word, as if under a spell, nodding gently in answer to any questions, otherwise still and rapt. We sit in silence for a few moments. "Sometimes," they begin, slow and calm, "a person will need more guidance than a classroom allows." My heart is beating so hard against my chest im sure they can hear it. "If you would let me, i want to give that to you." Im dizzy. I feel myself nodding quickly. "Speak up." Its a gentle correction, but i feel like i'm on fire. "Yes."

"Yes, Daddy." They correct.

"Y-yes. Yes, Daddy." We sit in the silence again, me firmly in their grip, waiting on their command.

If by this you mean what I like/dislike most about the somewhat niche Eska and Desna fandom: What I dislike the most is usually just some headcanons here and there I don't agree with. But, it'd be silly of me to think I'm a sort of authority over those ideas. It's a me problem. I'm just a bit anal-retentive about how these two are interpreted. For example: My least fave interpretation of them is that they have identical personalities. I do not agree !! I think Eska and Desna have complementary personalities, overshadowed by their shared upbringing, which I don't doubt was very strange in many ways. If I get any deeper in this headcanon I'll be here all day, but you get the point, I hope. What I like the most is we're all very based and epic and have amazing opinions I think. Which, I know, totally contradicts what I just said, but headcanons are still opinions. We're all based because we like E&D, but also if you've been obsessed with them as long as I have, you've seen some crazy niche memes float around. We have a shared experience, a bond. So, basically what I'm saying is, this is a cult. We're in a cult together, all of us. Holding hands, maybe even killing each other for the seat on the throne of this cult? Platonically, of course <3

the answer is no we don't. to my knowledge, none of the members have openly talked about it. there has been no story on their official instagram, nor has matt (the only one with a public profile) posted anything about it on his account. not only that, but i did some research and apparently that benefit concert that him, tyler parkford and josh homme took part in also hosted people like jesse hughes and sarah silverman who are more or less openly pro-israel. which doesn't mean *matt* is, it just means he's not careful who he's associating himself and his image with.

the others have stayed silent. and miles, too - who's so active on social media - has never even reposted anything about it. not a word.

about the girlfriends, louise (and amanda) have spoken about "wanting peace" and louise especially has reposted some stupid ass posts a few months ago basically saying it's not "childish" to just wish peace for everyone - proving that she literally knows nothing about what has been happening for DECADES. both her and amanda have repeatedly proven they're centrists, which is just so. yikes.

the only one among all of them who has openly and almost immediately asked for a ceasefire is katie.

i've seen some people argue that the royal albert hall proceeds have gone to the war child association, but honestly - that's not enough. that was before, and even though knowing that is better than nothing, something they did in the past doesn't justify their lack of a statement on the genocide in the present. the fact that they're not even active on social media - just because they're too lazy to get someone to properly manage their account - isn't an excuse for staying silent.

whether they like it or not, they're celebrities. they have a platform they could use and they repeatedly choose not to use it. i love them but for the past few months i've been beyond disappointed in them.
