For anyone who likes romance and spies and yearning and a short king being completely head over heels for a woman that can (and does) kick his ass, Argylle is the movie for you. Feel like the marketing team is leaving money on the table by not appealing to the romance crowd that is crying out for more genuine love stories on film and the one in this movie is actually really sweet and features an attractive couple with actual personalities.

I really like how Donnie and Mikey having the shortest mask tails makes so much sense in regard to them being an inventor and an artist/cook respectively. If their mask tails were longer, it could be dangerous and/or get in the way of what they were trying to do.

Meanwhile Raph is large enough that his longer mask tails wouldn’t be easily used against him in fighting or sparring, plus the longer tails definitely make for a more standard hero/ninja look which would make him lean into it more.

Leo likes long mask tails because he can flip them.

Mihawk is such a capricious dude, oh my god. The only dude you know who is always itching for a fight but only ever a specific kind of fight so he goes out of his way to take the path of least resistance for everything else.

Like he would rather leave than fight Don krieg, Sail away than decimate the marines, live in peace instead of challenging the other emperors for the one piece. And when they do he’d rather follow buggy’s idea of just being smarter about how they go about it instead of brute forcing it like the rest. He is constantly leaving fights but then a swordsman of mild repute and an interesting technique engages him in a battle and suddenly you have his whole attention. Like with vista it was obvious that he could have just cleared him like he did everyone else but he’d never seen the flower sword techinque and by god was he going to miss this chance. And so he engages him in what is essentially a spare.

Because Mans isn’t looking for a fight, instead, like a middle aged director of a short indie film, he’s chasing a feeling.

He wants to feel like his 19 year old self did when he was strong but there were people stronger. When there were still obstacles to overcome limits to exceed. When the world was large and exciting and he wasn’t just waiting for it to catch up with him. When he could look at Shanks as the person he is instead of the person he could have been.

He wants to look at Shanks and not see visions of a grinning red haired boy with 2 arms and a strawhat laughing in the dirt and asking for “just one more round Hawky I swear I’ll beat you this time”

But there is nowhere Mihawk can run that that boy won’t haunt him.

#original character #angel oc #monster boy oc #wings #winged oc #for those curious he is the main character of this serial comic i have planned after my short film and one shots are #finished called “Mayflies”#Basically its a slice of life/fantasy comic about a world where “angels” are these huge insectoid-like entities that exist in a symbiotic #relationship with humans #They spend the majority of their life cycles in a juvenile state similar to mayflies #where they inhabit the bodies of dead humans #so every once and awhile when someone dies they will come back as an angel spontaneously. Denny was walking to work one day in the #dark and rain and got hit by a car. lucky for him #an adult angel appeared at that moment and triggered the angeldeath and he Came Back #hes like the same guy though angels dont have a separate conciousness from their host. its like #he is the angel. like a lichen. from his POV he can't tell that anything's changed inside his brain only now. he feathers #so yeah. i love him #side note #he has a GNC boyfriend named Ruth

okay, okay, yes, me and my wife. but also this is a deeply clever and horrifying premise. like "i live in your house" and it becomes true. because he lives in your head, and he is living there. He is in your house even if he isn't.

and you spend the whole time thinking- if its in her head, it will get better once someone else is there- her wife, a loved one who has been expressing concern for her wellbeing.

And then she arrives, and invites him in. And it ends with "do you hear that" and an unbothered "yes".

HORRIFYING. well shot, well written, well composed, well acted.
