sidney: yeah, buttercup, bee, bumblebee - she's got lots of nicknames *laughs* she finished university, doing a double major in sports management and biochemistry. which is pretty tough, especially since she was on the hockey and lacrosse teams. but she loved it, and she somehow managed to graduate in four years, so i'll take it! she's going to med school in chicago now, trying to be an anesthesiologist.

Another one of my shows gets canceled 😭

I guess I'm only getting my sidsophie endgame in my delusions 😭😭😭

This would have been such an amazing satisfying slow burn to watch and would have garnered more fanbase/viewership if tptb were smart enough to give it a chance. It was already gaining momentum in it's second season. The show is literally about shipping and we know how serious people take shipping these days. Social media would have gone crazy. The show just needed more time.

Anyways, while I was dealing with the heartbreak of the show, I began to reminisce about the season 2 finale. For me, three defining things happened that pushed the narrative of who Sophie eventually ends up with. Of course this is a sidsophie narrative.

The 3 things: Sophie and Jesse get back together, the beginning of the end of Sid's marriage to Hannah, and Charlie and possibly Drew being cancelled out in the run for who will be the father.

In season 1, Robin (from himym) was talking to Sophie and saying, "Timing is everything" when it comes to love. It makes me think about the juxtaposition of Sid and Sophie's relationships by the end of season 2. As far as I'm concerned, their season 2 ending was a plot device to a sidsophie endgame. Just when Sophie is reuniting with a love (Jesse), we see the possible end of a love for Sid (his marriage).

Timing.

For any other ship it would have been bad timing, but in their case, it works out well for them.

For Sid and Sophie to eventually get together, Sid's marriage to Hannah needed to end. This is not some girlfriend/boyfriend relationship. It's a marriage. They've been together for yrs. His healing from the break up will take time. In the meantime, Sophie gets to revisit a relationship that was stopped abruptly. There would have always been a "what if" with her and Jesse, so them getting back together was good for her. Prior to Jesse, Sophie had never been in love. I believe having to experience what love is like will prepare her for the great love she will have with Sid.

Plus, she still had to explore something with Ian. So while Sophie is still figuring out her love life, Sid on the other hand is healing from his potential divorce from Hannah. They both need to get to a point where they are ready for each other. The best time for them to come together is when they are both unburdened by their past (Hannah/Jesse) in order to move forward together in their future.

Timing.

Again, sidsophie would have been such an amazing and satisfying slow burn to watch. There are not many shows with good slow burns nowadays. Such a waste smh.

randy loves showing off, we see this time and time again at the stupid jokes he makes constantly. he has never shyed away from having all eyes on him, so having a partner who won’t be scared by what he’s doing is not only the biggest turn on, it’s going to make him the most violent mf u have ever seen!!!!! i don’t wanna say there’s a sexual thing abt killing for him but like… there totally is 😭 the act of killing is so hot to him, the power dynamics and the act of having someone life in his own hands, it is enough to get his adrenaline pumping enough to where he either has to fuck or jerk off right after it’s done (and yes sometimes still covered in blood sorry!!!!!)

he would have a list of people he wants to kill initially but i think he’d space them out so he can’t be connected to it (classic horror slasher shit, u know?) so there will be random people that accidentally piss him off or just cross paths with him at the wrong times that get it too.

I really hope the hurricane episode brings a little drama and leads us to a wilder path in the storyline. I need a "If this hurricane didn't hit us you wouldn't exist son" kind of moment like HIMYM always did with incidents and decisions they made. More speculations, chaos and confusion is needed.

Okay here are my "wildest" thoughts

Val and Ellen: maybe they hook up out of frustration.

Sophie: she starts to see Sid or Charlie in a new light and maybe in a romantic light... Or she contacts Ian but I'd prefer the first option.

Hannah: finds out about Taylor.

Charlie: makes a decision about his mommy issues ( I respect bc I have them too but I lowkey want to see him at least try to confront whatever went wrong instead of letting it determine his whole life ) I want to see silent suffering about losing a chance with Val and at least him trying.

Sid: a decision about his marriage because I really hate this marriage. It's draining and they really made his character all about the marriage. (I want to know more about Sid, his family, his dreams, past whatever. No more marriage. Dating would've been fine but marriage is annoying me.) Maybe there will be a situation with Taylor again which changes his view on his marriage.

Drew: I don't know maybe he realizes that he lost a big treasure with with Sophie, tries to win her back. Other than that he's likable but boring, I need some action. Maybe he can reveal his longtime crush on Hannah or that they had a brief past (which would also influence Sids views).

Ian: same with him, maybe the hurricane makes him realize how precious time, life and people are and how he doesn't want to wait anymore when he realizes that Soph is still single. Or he gets a new work offer and has to make a decision, after he coincidentally meets Soph again and she asks him on a date.

Jesse: maybe some time passed and he is still with the girl from last episode. Idk what his decision or incident could be? Another cheating scandal? A break up? Getting to know the parents? I don't know honestly except for how they'll suffocate us with another will they won't they moment which is NOT needed and forced as heck just because they need a plot 😭 Just get them together my God.

Maybe someone dies ... who knows. They need to take actions if they want that renewal.

And for the finale I need them to exclude at least one of the father options they need to get serious.

Ain't nobody believing that Sophie could be head over heals for Drew again. And future Sophie seems very much in love still. And he kinda degraded her passion so...

once The Horrible Uncertainties are over and I have some modicum of stability in my life again, I plan on actively befriending an old coworker of mine.

we only worked together for less than a year before she moved on but she is snappily smart, incredibly gracious, humorous, and a lovely conversationalist. we've only hung out in group settings since, and while I love those booze-n-bitch sessions, we're still surface level friends and I think I want something more.

I'll admit I had an underdeveloped crush on her haha BUT I really like her husband! he's so nice! and they had that super-lovely wedding last year that I was so kindly invited to. really nice people who I definitely want to keep in my life + strengthen my bonds with.

I keep thinking about this smaller gathering we had where it was me, her, and a third woman we'd both worked with. it was nice and intimate because there were just fewer people and we all knew each other decently, but I KEEP THINKING ABOUT how we got onto the topic of fic (we'd been talking about books, and then those reylo fics that've been turned into books), and lo, this woman said she read fic!

and I even ended up recommended a few fics to her haha but there was this moment where I had the chance to be vulnerable and tell her what fandom I was involved in and what I read—this, hockey fic—and I chickened out.

I actually told her I'd sooner die than admit to it, lol, which is overly dramatic, but... man, in hindsight I think I regret that? like... I don't know. I've really felt like, after high school, where I lost my structured friend-making apparatuses (sports and theater, where you could bond with people over doing the same stuff alongside them), I've really struggled to make friends OUTSIDE of online spaces. because I'm so involved online, you know?

like, I have TONS of acquaintances. I can get dinners and drinks with people, sure, whatever, but I often feel like I hold some stuff back because I do dedicate a lot of time to fandom and while I can invite people to games with me (and I have), I've been very intentional about separating my fandom life from my real life because RPF, y'know, crosses some social boundaries! it's hard to admit to! especially when you live in the same county as the subjects of the RPF lol.

and like... the woman I'm talking about? she even admitted later in that conversation that RPF squicked her out! so, again, I don't think I made the WRONG decision but it feels like a choice wherein two paths were laid out for me and I once again chose the "safe" route because I was afraid. and I think about, okay, maybe you wouldn't have sold her on sid/geno, but that was a chance to be vulnerable and to maybe deepen a connection, and you backed away from it.

anyways, I'm not gonna show up on this woman's doorstep with the top 10 sidgeno fics printed out for her, but I think when my life SORTS ITSELF OUT I am going to invite her to go kayaking with me or to do some kind of activity because I like her a lot and want to build a friendship that can also do things solo instead of only within a group. yes.

• in a world where they (sid, tate, billy, Stu, and ray) where all *platonic* besties: they plan a beach day in the nearest town with a beach about 2 hours out.

•Tatum has Sidney and randy in her red buggy. While stu has billy and y/n in his Nisan skyline with his serf-board zip tied uptop.

•The reason they ride in separate cars in both due to space and Stu’s music taste💀. Tatum and Sidney have every piece of beach equipment known to man settled in her buggy and this takes up about 3/4 of a car by itself, leaving Sid the passenger seat and randy stuck between 3 sets of chairs and an umbrella. As for Stu, he listens to the trashiest, cheesiest, pop music you have ever heard on full blast the ENTIRE time. Even with you and billy complaining (billy isn’t so much complaining as he is annoyed and turning the volume down and Stu keeps turning it back up) and swearing your ears are bleeding the entire time😭.

•Once you guys FINALLY get to said beach randy is forced to go and find a spot for y’all to set up base. (through vigorous complaining ofc, but he gave in after Sidney asked) he then proceeded to search for all of 5-7 minutes before picking a spot randomly after getting tired of stepping on seashells and almost tripping on what used to be a sand castle and is now a lump of sand. He comes back to you guys (out of breath and on the verge of death bc he is a lanky babygirl of a man) and tells u guys to scope out the spot he found.

You all decided it was good enough and started unpacking the hoard of beach equipment, well you, Sidney, and Tatum at least. Randy is turning red already and was forced to put on sunblock. Billy is just standing off to the side with his arms crossed watching you guys set up, so helpful right? And Stu ran to the water the second he dropped the umbrella and god knows what else he carried in the sand and left with a simple “see y’all byeeeeeee” (and he was gone😔💔)

After what seemed like at least a millennium you guys where finished unpacking. Tatum was trying to tan, Sidney was on a towel under the umbrella reading a book, billy found the boardwalk through his smartypants context clues and like the incel teen he is went on his merry way to find some girls (and possibly a guy) to talk too. Randy is basically off at sea searching for Stu bc he needed him for something or other. Meanwhile Stu is nowhere to be seen in at least a 30 mile radius (why randy is searching for him? Let alone In the OCEAN? You have no idea.) you where simply watching randy in the water slowly drifting farther from your home base with no sense of direction (genius huh?) and laughing at him to yourself.

After randy wandered WAYYYYY too far out you got up to yell for him because if he goes out any further he will be in the news by tomorrow morning as the dumbest man in woodsburo. He heard you after about the 7th call and yelled he was looking for Stu, intriguing to you considering he and Stu never really actively go on hunts for each other, but regardless, you call out to him saying he’s too far out and as if you said the magic words a big fat wave crashed down on randy. And like the smart cookie you are decide to ALSO get in the water and save him from drowning (super sexy hot funny life saver y/n🥰🥰😻) so you Scurry up to the water in your hot pink 2 piece bikini (or wtv you want ofc) and like the badass you are, you don’t find him, BUT he does find you. “JESUS randy you scared me, I thought you where like a kraken or something” “y/n were in knee deep water your fine” randy said to which you replied and ended the out of breath conversation with a simple “still”. Both of you are looking like wet poodles and the rough waves crash against the 2 of you for a hot second before the seemingly second sense kicked in and you both look to land only to find yourself on (seemingly) the “other side of the damn world” as randy stated.

“Do you know where we are now y/n” randy said “no…..BUT I don’t think we could have drifted to far from our little camp. And uh Sidney or Tatum probably saw so no need to worry” “okay then so we should probably get out of the water and start trying to find them or the camp” he said casually slightly calmed from the reassurance you laced your words with “that would probably be a good idea” (and so you and Mr Meeks are now slowly but surely making your way onto the hot sand to hunt down the wizard of ozz and find your way home😻).

Same, part of me wants Randy wifed up bc he DESERVES to get married after everything he's been through, he was already looking for love in Terrible Trilogy sooo it would make sense for him to continue looking around. Even if he's married tho I feel like his and Y/ns friendship will be as strong as ever 🥺 there's no way he'd just leave us UNLESS he found out about Billy and Stu. At least she'll have had ten years of friendship at that point with him. Also imagine writing a scene where Randy's child runs up to Y/n going "Auntie Y/n!" And Billy and Stu in the shadows being like AUNTIE Y/N?! 🤣 I feel like they would once again be jealous of Randy having a wife, a child, having Y/n in his life 😌 I feel like seeing Randy being so happy would really get under their skin and make them crave that domestic life even more with us. We all love jealous Billy and Stu, nothing makes me happier then riling them up 🤣

On the other hand, part of me can't help but want Randy to be single since I think he's gonna die in this one 😭 atleast if he dies he's not leaving behind a gf or a possible kid. I love him and Y/n being besties, we don't need to romanticize everything. He doesn't need to be in love with us, just let him focus on his hobbies. It didn't seem like Randy had any feelings for Y/n in TT either.

Another thing - it's toxic, but I can't help but want Randy to be single AND in love with Y/n 🤡 it's AWFUL considering he really did seem to move on in Terrible Trilogy and he deserves to find someone after losing Sidney...but I can't help but want that pining Ray we had in Sequels Suck, I can't help but love the idea of Billy and Stu seeing the signs and Y/n just being oblivious. Like I can hear Randy's voice being like "I already lost Sidney, I can't lose you too!" just like he said in Sequels Suck.

AHHH I'm so conflicted 😭 my final vote - Randy wifed up. You can decide whether or not he has a kid. His and Y/n's friendship is adorable. I'm willing to put down the Y/n x Randy ship since I honestly do think he moved on in TT. Y/n deserves a friend who isn't into her either, every guy she's encountered gains feelings for her. Billy and Stu can be jealous of them being platonic soulmates AND of Randy having everything, like a house, a wife, US in his life 💅

I feel the same exact way I want Ray to be healthy, married, moved on bc not only does that feel like the most realistic but he deserves to be happy and after 10 years of no GF attacks it makes perfect sense for him to settle down thinking the threat is forever over. Besides, we've seen in canon no matter how much Randy's like "Don't think it's over, don't do the stupid thing, don't break the rules"....Then he turns around and does that exact thing 🤡

And yeah exactly Billy and Stu are endgame so Randy pinning for us is awful AND it gets on my nerves when ppl think men and women can't be friends 🙃 not only is not everyone hetero but have none of these heteronormative ppl met whole gay friend groups??? Just because there could be attraction doesn't mean there is and them being best friends as a guy and a woman sits so right with me and is realistic irl

HOWEVER....There is the tiniest sadistic part of me that feels the same u do. Pinning Randy and the romantic tension in Sequels was something man. And look how in love he was with Sidney 2 years later even tho she had a boyfriend! Randy definitely feels like the type of guy to be in love with the obsession of being infatuated with someone for years. We already know he was for Sid for 3 years in canon and who knows how many years prior to that and it makes the reveal even more heartbreaking for him. 💔

HOWEVER just bc Randy was infatuated (And that's what it was he was not in love with us despite having love FOR US now) at one time doesn't mean he can't get over it and move on.

But I'm heavily leaning towards wifed up because that's just realistic that friends after 10 years are going to carry on with life and meet ppl etc. and Randy did seem completely accepting of him and YN as just friends (Even tho Stu and Billy's reaction to them dating for a hot minute is still funny 🤭😏) so why not have him wifed up? I was just leery that ppl wouldn't like it but apparently I was wrong bc not a single person has been like "No leave him single 👹"

I have already answered these (I'm so sorry 😭) but I will give new, fun answers below because I felt so bad!

3. What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)

Another scene I want to write very, very badly is a scene in which we get an OH SHIT moment a la "when geno remembers his past life" in The Salt King. My version of this (in my abandoned Time Travel Geno fic) would be where, in a Sid POV fic, Sid opens his door in Nova Scotia to Geno unexpectedly on his doorstep and looking like hell. After a matter of days in which Geno is VERY deeply not okay (he can't sleep, he keeps looking at sid, he won't leave sid alone), Sid finally asks him what the fuck is going on, and then BOOM cut to the alternate timeline Geno came from in which sid died tragically and we, the audience, realize Geno has reversed time to change the course of fate to save Sid's life... it's all very overwrought but I think if done well it could be really impactful, but I tragically have lost interest in the fic concept as a whole!

I will amend my previous answer to this by saying: I hope my readers know that whenever I write a smut fic my thought process is Paris Hilton saying "That's hot" and I wish to evoke that in everyone who reads it.

Aside from my TKK AU for kinkfest, I guess it would be that A Drowning in California wasn't always about Taylor's wedding. It was originally supposed to be just a breakup fic in which Sid and Geno's relationship wasn't working out, mutually, but as I dug for more conflict I came across the idea of a wedding and it driving a wedge between them!

hiii first and foremost it's my moral duty to advise you to run. football is the devil's sport & it'll only make your life worse, don't do this 🥹

secondly in my experience the best way to start watching a sport is to just...watch it lol. the commentary will do most of the explaining for you, and what you don't understand you can just google afterwards!

if you're looking for beginners explainers/guides r/soccer on reddit has a pretty good list of resources in their wiki. i know it's reddit 🙄 but in general i've found the majority of post-match threads (i usually avoid the match threads; they're full of trolls) to be quite technical & informative & there's a LOT of lore discussion in the comments. of course since it's reddit 🙄 discussion will sometimes devolve into pointless arguments; at that point just walk away it's not worth your time.

on youtube tifo football is good for lore/history & they also have a separate channel tifo irl which is good for technical analysis. there are also hundreds and thousands of biographies/auto biographies/documentaries if you're interested about specifc players/clubs (90% of them are trash though lol). one writer/journalist i really like is sid lowe, his Fear and Loathing in La Liga is a must-read for la liga/barca/real madrid fans, and some of his write-ups in the guardian are really good too. (pity he mainly writes for la liga, I would give an arm & a leg for him to write a book about the prem :(((

P.S. just keep in mind that all this is meant to introduce you to football; a lot of the stuff out there is pretty subjective so take everything with a spoonful of salt. once you're more familiar with the game you'll get better at judging what's useful & what's bullsh*t.

also don't forget at the end of the day football is!! just another sport!! it's completely fine if you're just in it for the drama &/ male athletes being sluts and whores; you don't need to memorize the entire rulebook or be versed in decades of lore™ to watch it!!!

but Charlie should definitely be considered because they've been dropping hints since season 1 that are much more underlying (same with Sid in s1)
