I could try to make this a whole comic, but I don’t have the patience to. So….

Bloodmoon giggled to himself as he scurried away. It wasn’t always that he could get such a good glance at the Daycare idiot’s daily routine, but when he did, boy was it a blast.

Some odd creature emerged from the portal and some confrontation took place, he was excluded from it, having been up in the rafters and all, so he had been in a perfect position to see the absolute frustration in the Sun-Man’s face as the creature toppled over his precious barrel towers, and then, and then— he snorted just remembering— and then the Sun-Man chased around the creature screaming every single swear word that could ever be said.

He had almost fallen off the rafters from laughing too hard, which had sadly gotten him spotted by the computer, which meant he had to leave. But still, it had been very amusing, so now he was on his way to the place he and the little Pumpkin Sprout usually met at— the theatre basement, with its infinite food supply and stuff— and he was going to talk to them about it, because they had to know.

He entered the space, bouncing in place at seeing the pumpkin bot already there, and he approached them.

Hmm, Little Sprout didn’t usually go for knives that quickly. Nor did they usually tackle him that quickly, nor would they aim for his eye, nor would they be the ones to start a sneak fight, nor— okay this was just not how Jack normally acted. Which meant…

#or smth smth. having a lot of Thoughts. anyways here's the piece i've been working on and sometimes u have to just say Done #there's a lot of thinks but i am maybe a bit tired and so tmr i'll come in and add all the Tags that i'd personally want to get from myself #maybe i'll reblog the extras tmr too. this is an incredibly self indulgent piece + it probably deserves a tag ramble essay or smth #ig for now we see how it stands for itself + in the meantime:#adamandi #beatrix valeria campbell #hello!! i'm back with belated tags yippee!! alright so for funsies i'm going to make it sound like i'm going bonkers over this :3 #the eye shine... the glowy eye... it's like phaethon shine but also smth about eyes to windows to the soul and like #there's two beatrixes here! half the soul. lost part doing things specific to the phaethon and here it's portrayed as tearing off her name #because that's really; truly; when it all starts!! also notable for the ghostly beatrix is i did it more painterly and cloaked in shadow and #fading into the bg. i think i was super duper specificish about where the glow comes from! front lighting back lighting beloved!!! like help #let's put it this way- beatrix face always glowy. important parts of paper also glowy. it's just that different elements are turned away #from the viewer by each beatrix!! also also. let's talk about the very gently implied blood and red etcetera #like the red string is canonical and i love personally the whole red strings of fate thing even though it's not Here Applicable exactly but #that definitely was an influence! and also the blood in the bg... i'm starting to think this is a recurring trend. but anyway shadowy bea #the other strings hang while the red string loops!! so like that one string feels almost alive. it's a sort of whimsical i put on the same #as metaphorical glowy eye!! also also the eye is lowkey influenced by the whole idea of Eyes and Spotlights within the show and also glow #as in power as in heyyy you ever think about writing as a visual medium huh #speaking of writing!! there is no beatrix thingy complete in my head without text sorrry but the black text overlays are always so >>> to me #and in the sense of art styles and overlays shoutout to all the black crosshatching outline thingys because For Some Reason in my mind #of all the characters beatrix feels like the bnw ink printed illustrations you get in books idk #fun fact! i spent so long rendering this and that was fine i liked it! but then trying to figure out text to go on the papers was a Thing #i tried to do. but then gave up on! sometimes i have to pick my battles and graphic design is indubitably Not my passion bc Fonts #fun facts about this is i Actually did start with a quick sketch in mind and there's been so many changed elements. in the og the front #paper for instance had 'ardess murders' written on it and the back one said phaethon interviews.. i like the nominee list better it feels #more narrative-esque and less passive than her just holding her writing.! other elements that got discontinued were that #front beatrix was supposed to blur into the other ghostly beatrix but i couldn't do it without sacrificing clarity so... no... no blurry #oh and the red string morphing at the ends to smth more abstract was always there from the start!! og had more floating papers #and also a silhouette of vincent and a scalpel bc 'one who pulls the strings' but that (pun intended)! got cut (hahahahahahaha) (sorry)#used also to be a lot of print room clutter but that got cut to bc compositionally i made beatrix larger (learned lesson from last art)

#epic the musical #odysseus #queue’d #there’s a 50% chance it’s bc it sounds Hamilton-y but I love Man of the House #it’s such a bop #ik it’s scrapped but like IF I COPE-#anyway my reasoning as to why it could be song 21 or 22 is bc epic the musical as a standalone adaptation #is REALLY missing some Odysseus backstory content #bc if you went into the musical without knowing anything about the odyssey or Greek mythology here’s what you’d know #1. he’s been at war for 10 years and really misses his family #2. he really really loves and misses his wife #3. he’s the king of Ithaca #4. when he was younger Athena saw him kill a boar and was like ‘yo this kid’s cool I’m gonna mentor him’#< also I’m not even sure if point 4 is accurate to the actual Greek myths but regardless #outside of Warrior of the Mind there’s not a lot of Odysseus backstory #like you can function on these points alone but I think it would be fun to get more ody backstory #also imagine act 2 opening with Man of the House #it’s a hopeful pick-me-up from Monster and the Underworld Saga in general #and not to mention illustrates what’s at stake plus starts to introduce the ‘we’ve been on this voyage for a bit too long man’ element #plus it would introduce the ‘where is he’ motif and the ‘time is ticking it’s running out time to be the man of the house’ motif earlier #and I could write a whole ‘nother wall of tags about how those motifs would affect the story in this scenario #I mean Jay’s probably gonna introduce those motifs somewhere else outside of The Challenge and Odysseus/King so yeah #Man of the House you’re not a cut song to me <3 #epic the thunder saga #lark rambles

Ohh my absolute goodness..

side note, one look at Heavy and Medic on the character lineup at the teamfortress.com homepage tells you EVERYTHING about their marriage

Anyway, the god... damn... I can't get over... just, Engineer TF2 and the duality of his character. Like, he's one-hundred percent someone to pull on gator skin boots, a ten gallon, get all yee-hawed up for a night out at the dance hall. But then go home and infodump about hotchkiss drives, stress-strain curves, and reflow soldering.

There are some specific competitive lines that comes to mind that are JARRING to hear in his honeyed-up Texas voice along with shit like "hooo-whee, makin' bacon!" and "START PRAYIN', BOY." Maybe that's just a huge part of the appeal to his character, but think about his BUDDIES, too.

Medic is probably quite familiar with American stereotypes pre-Gravel Wars, doesn't expect much from a bumbling rural southerner with a generic set of tools upon first glance. but.., he's a bit BLOWN AWAY when Engie gets all inquisitive about the ins and outs of the medi-gun. Wants to look into how the serum works as a mechanical component, the powering and logic behind it all, even overwhelms med's (limited) level of delicate mechanical knowledge. his arc is all, "okay, so, this little guy might be a bigger-brained fella than I expected!" The punting of med's early-day ego and subsequent forging of their friendship is just so... ourgh... I love characters and arcs and stories and growth and...

Also, Soldier! The all-American Ultra Yank who doesn't see eye-to-eye with Engie at first. They've both got contrasting leadership qualities when it comes down to it, fr, a- a- and, AND, soldier HATES nerds. Engie's a nerd. Big time. It takes a while for that mutual love respect to build up, you know? do you catch my drift? I'm just rambling now.

ALSO also, Engineer himself going from the more introverted, lone-wolf type we see in Meet the Engineer to a sort of leader, the level-headed de-escalator we see in Expiration Date. The guy who feels for and loves his team, but no doubt brings out the 'Texas' in 'em all. It's kinda cute. I imagine he taught everyone square dancing at some point, 'cause how else would they know?

In the end, I just love to think of Engie as being one of the cornerstones of the team's overall culture. i mean, he's a solid family guy - cooks the breakfasts, fixes the (practical) problems, heck, plays music, tells stories, keeps 'em together when times are tough. We ALL know that some of him has to rub off on the team he bunks with for years. Not in a father-figure way, nahh, but certainly in a Dad Friend way. Big difference.

(Can you tell who my favorite character is yet? (demo, actually. And Heavy. come to think of it, the defense trio is the love of my life. My boys. (I could write and MLA-formatted essay about the balance of culture and personality within the Tuefort Nine, citations intact.)))

#i used to get a fat discount on wifi for being on food stamps and shit. but they killed that law recently #so now. it's a whopping‚ 72 dollas. and im at 61 KGJSNFNF (the extra dollar would be for the horrors of paypal sending fees)#it's not like a Huge deal i could probably scrounge up the money rq. this month has just been yet another hard hitter 🫠#and it ain't over yet we're getting orb spayed and vaxxed and getting dragon and sven looked over at a vet in pa #it was honestly kinda sweet I told them about how i suspect dragon has a toothache #and she was like. it can be a bit steep if we have to remove a tooth... like 350 usd...#and i. am so used to the Menace Behaviour of our local vet. that that sounded like a DREAM #when we went to the shelter to drop off the kittens the owner told me that. there's a fb page #called victims of valley vet ovva. they got a whole HATE PAGE for this tiny vet in fuckall ny. that's how bad it is #with like 800 members. dude i think every town near it is like 3000 each. esp here in our town #so like. a drive to pa is Well Worth It bc my god #but i'm rambling. point is there's gonna be a few more dents in both our wallets so if anyone can spare a good like 12 dollars #so i can live peacefully with a whopping 0 dollars in my bank account but also internet. well that would be very appeaciated : )

Not sure yet :') being in this fandom takes such a huge toll on me when shit hits the fan that i cant really justify to myself staying and being invested in the same capacity as I have been. mylene is so interesting to me bc like. she just chucks elico out as soon as she gets a mechanical replacement with macubass. and i think she's the only villain so callous about their guardian bakugan???

most villains still care about their bakugan and usually actually share the same goals and are on the same wavelength, birds of a feather and all that. like even characters like kazarina, cruel as she is, still are fond of their guardian bakugan. and theres characters like spectra and barodius who's plans center around their guardian bakugan, and are actively encouraged by those bakugan.

even characters who's guardian bakugan dont necessarily get along with them all the time, like avior and mason's constant bickering, are still friends. meanwhile mylene just. throws elico out. and also takes brontes from volt and throws him out as well. i think whats also interesting, since the show likes to bring up spectra and mylene parallels, is how spectra uses machines to upgrade and evolve helios, while mylene outright replaces elico with a machine.

but it's not like she's shown to be like. completely heartless either. she calls volt her friend even though she threw out brontes beforehand. she stands up for hydron when zenoheld takes his anger out on him. she has some weird friendship with shadow prove.

i think she was the vehicle to show the general vestal opinion on bakugan, since mylene only sees her bakugan as weapons and when she loses she blames the loss on them. (meanwhile i think volt is supposed to show that not all vestals are THAT bad, even if they are part of the king's entourage of fucked up teenage celebrity theatre kids). and i think she's very interesting bc of that. anyways i love mylene.

#mylene farrow #bakugan new vestroia #lync and shadow prove can also be considered this to a lesser extent??? but they've never had a guardian bakugan #so the comparisons aren't as strong #they probs dont have guardian bakugan for the same reason mylene threw elico out #i think lync is more representative of nv's overarching theme of loyalty. as is shadow prove.#and obvs spectra gus and hydron too #obvs mylene and volt are too but like i dont think that's their main purpose #i think they're more supposed to represent vestal society as a whole #i feel like this went off on a slight tangent or something?? this is just how my thoughts work im adhd #interestingly i think the time when spectra is at his worst is when he steals drago #after he steals drago he kinda sorta starts ignoring helios a little?? kinda replaces helios with drago???#so he replaces one bakugan with another thats seemingly more powerful and can only follow orders. sounds familiar??#love that tbh. i love villains. they're so interesting.#also i could probably write a post even longer than this about nv's theme of loyalty regarding the vestals #but thats neither here nor there lmao. always happy to ramble #anyways also happy lesbian visibility day from ur local bakugan loving aro lesbian #also this post ended up being far longer than i expected but i have brainrot sooooo #ANYWAYS BYEEEEEEEEE might go watch nv i love that season if u cant tell
