wallah this is just a coincidence but: since I was reading on here about racism in football leagues I literally just saw this thread on twitter. It's an academic study and the two researchers have analysed serie A matches between 2009 and 2021 and came to the conclusion that poc players were sanctioned 20% more compared to white players, 11% more yellow cards and 16% more red cards. This study also underlines that this data slightly decreased in 2020/2021, where matches were played behind closed doors due to covid. According to the researchers, the referees bias is potentially (but not only of course) due to the pressure of supporters who are more likely to boo poc players more.
