inspired by @starfxkr ‘s SugarDaddy!Rafe
song in mind

SFW
• He has 3 daughters and they’re just happy their dad and mom aren’t in that toxic ass marriage anymore but that’s the only reason they tolerate you being that much younger than their dad.
• His oldest daughter is 5 years older than you, His middle is the same age as you and his youngest is three years younger than you.
• He’s 52 while you’re 21 so you have a 31 year age gap;)
• I imagine you living in like New York or New Jersey and he met you on a business trip while he was still married to his wife.
• The two of you were messing around for 3 months before his wife filed for divorce (she was having a 4 year long affair with Rafe’s business partner but we’ll talk about her more later)
• The day before the two of you met your parents threatened to cut you off and make you get a job after you got into a fight at the club with a girl and they had to bail you out of jail.
• But luckily for you, you met Rafe and you’ll never have to work again;)
• Moves you into his house 4 months after his divorce is finalized (his youngest daughter still lives with him because she wouldn’t stay with her mom either way)
• The old ladies who thought they would have a chance with Rafe after the divorce despise you.
• His nicknames for you: Bunny,Minx,Princess and Your actual name he’s not big on nicknames
• Your nicknames for him: Daddy Or Old man no in between :)
NSFW
• You would think him being a old man would effect his stamina but hadn’t so much of gave him a handjob for years before their divorce so he uses all that pent up “aggression” and it matches your young hyper sexualness
• Never uses protection because you claim “he’s an old man with no more swimmers.” and you live by that until you end up pregnant… Twice and his daughters are lowkey pissed
• He’s so old and matured so I know he gives THE BEST head and doesn’t expect anything in return like the boys your age do
• He wasn’t a big fan of PDA when he was with his wife but he loves when you shove your tongue down his throat in public to make people uncomfortable
• Idk something is telling me he likesfeet like he loves missionary because he’s still an old man so he loves sticking your big toe in his mouth and sucking it while he gives you deep strokes.
• 9 inches , cut subtle curve to the left , peachy pink tip with a tan ish base, full this just has the perfect amount of girth bigger than any one you’ve been with younger than him
That’s all I can think of for now!! If you have any suggestions on what I should write about him plz send an ask!!💋💋💋

3:30
pt. 2
content: age gap, reader of age as always, dilf toji, nsfw, teasing
Tumblr media
──────────────────────
“toji?” you stand in the doorway of the older man’s bedroom, anxiously playing with the hem of your sweater. the suns only barely began to peek through the blinds of the house, shrouding his form in a blanket of semi-darkness.
you anxiously watch the rise and fall of his chest, waiting for a reply. the deep rumble of his breath fills the room as you rethink whether you should bother him on his only day off.
“i missed the bus.” you whisper apologetically, padding to the side of his bed and prodding his buff shoulders with your much smaller hand. “m’sorry.”
the huff the older man let’s out only makes you feel worse as you watch him turn over, pulling the covers over himself and settling deeper into the mattess .
“‘m’sorry toji…” you whine over the lump forming in your throat. the pressure you feel behind your eyes soon gives way to the feeling of watery tears. “i-it’s finals week a-and—“
“you know why i let you live with gumi n’ me pretty girl?” he cuts you off abruptly, eyes still closed as he mumbles into his pillow.
you’re taken aback by the question, unsure whether he wants an actual answer or not.
“cause my parents kicked me out?” you mumble, rubbing the wetness from your eyes with the back of your hand.
“cause i knew you’re not the kind of broad who likes to be a fucking bother.” he states plainly, finally opening a sleep-swollen eye to look back at you with a half grin.
you’re about to apologize again but quickly quiet down and step back once he rises from the covers. toji reaches for the jug of water by his night stand, taking a hearty swing before wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. his eyes rake over your form, stopping appreciatively at your bottom half.
“fuck you got on?” he asks, taking another swing of water. the sleazy grin on his face let’s you know he’s just teasing.
“it’s our uniform.” you state plainly, a little embarrassed from the attention. you lean forward and look down at your bare legs, smoothing the creases in your skirt with your hands. “megumi kind of wears the same thing, just with slacks. you’ve seen him.”
“megumi doesn’t roll his little skirt up like a tease, sweet girl.” the older man chuckles, lifting the hem of your sweater to thumb at your double-folded waistband.
“everyone does that.” you mutter, stepping back to hide the way your thighs squeeze together at his whims.
“oh yeah?” toji rises with a groan and passes you without so much as a glance, yawning and rubbing the sleep from his face with a calloused hand.
“get my keys.” he tells you. “fuck... what i gotta take care of you too?”
˚ ✧ ───────────
“thank you for driving me.” you mumble, closing your eyes at the feeling of the warm spring air circulating through the car. toji has the roof down, clad in a black wife beater as he taps the steering wheel to the beat of the song currently booming through the classic vehicle.
“huh?” he leans in, motioning for you to tell him in his ear, clearly unable to hear you over the music.
“wh- thank you for driving me!” you half yell, eyes wandering to the half empty bottles of water that line the floor of his green dodge.
“yeah, you’re good doll.” he tells you, still nodding along to the song. “don’t worry about it.”
you’re thankful to have no onlookers as the two of you pull up to the front of campus. the older man makes no effort to turn down the radio, unlocking the car and lighting a cigarette while you gather your bag from the backseat.
“i’ll pick you up, ok?”
you pause, looking up at him with unease.
“you don’t have to..”
“i want to.” he tells you, blowing smoke to the side with a grin. “i’ll take you for ice cream or something. you like shit like that right?”
you nod, mouth slightly agape at his sudden show of interest. you could do ice cream, in fact you’d love to do ice cream.
“3:30 then?” you ask him, padding over to the door of the driver’s side.
he nods, taking another drag.
“thank you.” you mumble, leaning over to press a sweet kiss to the soft of his cheek, immediately recoiling in embarrassment.
“fuck.” he groans, reaching over to smack the back of your thigh with a calloused hand. smoke trails over his lips when he speaks.
“yeah, 3:30.”
you feel your stomach melt as you watch him drive away. what you don’t see is the ways he snakes one hand down to give his cock a squeeze before turning the radio up further.

being in a weird situationship with farleigh... <3 inspired by the song boyfriend by ariana grande ft. social house
Tumblr media
WARNINGS ✧ none i think? ooc farleigh maybe, situationship? my bad writing… it’s been 7 years. written on my iphone at 1am while sleep deprived </3 sorry in advance! i also suck at writing endings ◡̈
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ︶︶︶⠀⠀୨୧⠀⠀︶︶︶
‘you ain’t my boyfriend and i ain’t your girlfriend but you don’t want me to see nobody else and i don’t want you to see nobody’
you could feel him glaring at you from all the way across the room but made no move to look his way. if he could go around hooking up with random people, then you had the right to do as you please also.
wether he’d like to admit it or not, farleigh was a jealous man, especially when it came to you and there was only so much he could take before storming your way, his long legs reaching you in record time and dragging you away from the confused boy who you’d been previously talking to.
‘even though you ain’t mine, i promise the way we fight make me feel like we just in love’
“what do you think you’re doing?”
you couldn’t hold back the laugh that escaped your mouth. was he being serious? the only thing holding you back from causing a scene being the people around you guys and the not so subtle eyes of his cousin and friends watching everything unfold. god.. you knew coming to this party was a bad idea. “not sure what you mean.” you shrugged.
he nodded his head in a mocking way, pursing his lips. “hm, right. so this isn’t you getting back at me for the other day, is it? because i told you-“
“getting back at you?” you cut him off shaking your head in disbelief. “get over yourself farleigh. am i not allowed to talk to other people? not everything’s about you, you know.” except this totally was about him. you almost groaned when you saw the smirk forming on his lips. that bastard. he knew, of course he did.
‘i know we be so complicated lovin you sometimes drive me crazy cause i can’t have what i want and neither can you’
you refused to meet his eyes when he called out your name, arms crossed looking at the people dancing around you. farleigh chuckled, taking a step closer. you took one back in return. “if i didn’t know any better, i’d say you were jealous.” his tone was teasing, and you didn’t have to look at him to know he still had that infuriatingly attractive smirk on his face. i am. “of what? you’re not my boyfriend, you can do whatever you want.” you looked up at him, doing your best to appear nonchalant. farleigh laughed, throwing his head back like you had said the funniest joke he’s ever heard, which only served to agitate you more.
his eyes were practically sparkling when he looked down at you, his hands reaching to cup your face despite your failed attempts to push him away. “i didn’t fuck her. if that’s what you’re pissed about, all we did was make out...” he trailed off unsure if he should say what he was thinking. the way he was looking at you made your cheeks warm up, but you refused to speak. you wanted him to say it. you knew what he wanted to say, and as stupid as it sounded, you refused to be the first one to break. “i haven’t slept with anyone for months now actually.” his hands now resting on your hips squeezed them lightly.
farleigh admitting that shouldn’t of felt as good as it did, but it was as if you could feel a weight lifting off your shoulders. you hoped for a different kind of confession, but this was also nice to know. although you weren’t all that happy that he was still going around shoving his tongue down other peoples throats you couldn’t exactly complain either. he wasn’t your boyfriend. you had to remind yourself of that.
‘but you ain’t my boyfriend and i ain’t your girlfriend but you don’t want me to touch nobody else baby, we ain’t gotta tell nobody’
“like i said, farleigh, you’re free to do whatever you want. nothing is stopping you.” farleigh let out a mixture of what sounded like a groan and laugh, pulling you closer to him without you attempting to push him away this time around. “you” he paused to pinch your cheek softly. “are so fucking stubborn, did you know that?”
you couldn’t hold back the giggle that escaped your lips as you looked up at him, finally giving in to his touch. you had only been ignoring him for a few days, but it felt like a lifetime to you and even if he wouldn’t say it, you knew he felt the same way if the way he was gripping your hips was anything to go by.
“were you really going to fuck that loser to get back at me?” farleigh suddenly asked, looking over to where the guy whose name you’d already forgotten now sat talking with a different girl, his face in that permanent scowl he seemed to have when he wasn’t around you or his friends. “i tuned him out the moment he opened his mouth to be honest.” you could feel your cheeks heating up once again as he laughed at your honesty. “yeah, i figured once you wouldn’t stop eye fucking me from across the room.”
“shut up!” you groaned, swatting his chest. “you’re the one who has a staring problem, you creep. seriously, you’re worse than that fucking ollie kid.” farleigh huffed, somewhat offended that you would compare him to oliver but said nothing else as he pulled you towards the table where felix and the rest of his posse sat, all of them immediately pretending like they hadn’t been watching when you both approached except for felix, who gave farleigh a not so subtle smirk when he pulled you to sit on his lap.
‘if you were my boyfriend and you were my girlfriend i probably wouldn’t see nobody else’
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ︶︶︶⠀⠀୨୧⠀⠀︶︶︶
i suck at endings can u tell ꃋᴖꃋ i know i said i wasn’t gonna write and i probably won’t for a while but i had to get this idea out of my head! i ♥︎ farleigh start. also sorry for any errors! i’m nervous just posting this, bye

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“It’s just a lot.”
You just finished the final shift of your job for the week, and you were more than exhausted and burnt out. You had called your best friend immediately after to get some comfort, and despite how busy she was, she agreed to meet you for some drinks and listen to you rant.
“My coworker’s getting on my last nerve,” you continued venting. You had already told her about select crappy people you had to interact with during the day and then your boss, who regarded you with no empathy whatsoever. “Today’s already been bad enough, and then she decides to just pile more stress on me.”
You swished the ice around your emptied glass, creating clanking sounds while coating the cup in water.
“Maybe you should just quit,” your friend replied, taking a sip out of her glass. “I would’ve been long gone if I had to deal with annoying people all around, nine to five.”
She looked up at you. “Besides, you’re well off anyway. I don’t see why you’re working. Are you…trying to distract yourself?”
You sighed. She knew you too well.
“Love, don’t tell me you’re still hung up over—“
“It’s not what you think,” you cut her off, yet you avoided eye contact. It was easier to lie that way. “I just feel I’d have too much free time on my hands. I’m not sure what I’d do with it.”
You let out a dry chuckle. That wasn’t wholly false in itself, either. At your age, everyone had their own things going on—your best friend being an example. Therefore, you couldn’t find much time to go out with any of your friends, and you weren’t interested in meeting new people either.
You could blame your job. Perhaps the ones you meet every day put a sour taste on your tongue, making you lose any desire to interact with strangers. You could blame your exhaustion. Or…
“Honestly, I think that calls for someone new in your life,” your friend replied. “That’ll surely cure your boredom.”
“No thanks. I don’t feel like dating anyone right now.”
“I’m just kidding,” she laughed. “But it’d help you feel less lonely, no?”
“…you didn’t believe my answer to your earlier question, huh?”
“No. Of course not.”
It had been over five months since you broke up with your boyfriend. You tried seeing people after that, but in truth, you were only using them to try to move on.
Once you realized that it wasn’t working and it wasn’t fair for others to play with feelings, you decided to take on a new job on the other side of the city so you’d still get out of your house and have a change of scene.
“…But you know what? Screw him. I will keep saying again and again, I hate that man. Suicidal maniac. I know it’s hard, but you’re too hot to keep dwelling on this. You need to learn to move o—”
Your friend’s phone suddenly buzzed, interrupting her little lecture.
She picked it up, and you waited for her to finish speaking.
“I’m sorry, I think I got to go. I left my boyfriend with my cat, and he just told me he lost her already…” she shook her head. “Have you gotten out everything you wanted to say?”
“Yeah, thanks,” you replied. “I think I’ll go home soon, too. Not really feeling it.”
She stood up, handing you a bill with a smile. “Drinks on me tonight. Don’t complain—I’m sorry I couldn’t stay longer. And we didn’t order much anyway.”
“That’s okay; I appreciate you coming to listen to me anyway,” you replied.
“The offer is still open, by the way! If you want to find someone, I’ll schedule a date by this weekend.”
You rolled your eyes. “Whatever. Thanks.”
You only had one more drink before you decided to leave, still mostly sober—you figured it’d just be best if you’d take care of yourself at home.
Another thing your job was also distracting you from was witnessing all the relationships around you. Your friend had to go home for her boyfriend. You noticed a few couples at the bar you were at. You’d probably see more when you walked outside.
Not that you minded, is what you tried to tell yourself every single time. You didn’t have to be with someone. It’s okay to have a break.
But was it okay to still have a particular person at the back of your head all the time?
You stood up, leaving the bill and tip for your bartender before you walked toward the door. Opening it caused the bell attached to it to jingle. You were greeted by a cool, night breeze—and someone’s torso.
“O-Oh, sorry,” you replied, too tired to even catch the face of the person you bumped into.
But you had no choice when the man didn’t move out of the doorframe to walk in or allow you to pass.
So, when you met the almost-surprised, caramel-kissed eyes on a face framed with dark brown bangs and wavy hair, you felt your heart plunge into your stomach.
You whispered his name—almost scared to say it, the syllables feeling foreign from not having spoken it aloud for months.
“…Osamu.”
He was halfway through saying your name when you dashed for the exit, shoving him aside and speed-walking out.
“Wait! Bel—“ he caught himself and shouted your name once more.
You started walking down the parking lot, unsure of where you were trying to go, except away—away from Dazai. You had forgotten this bar was in the heart of the city. You didn’t know Dazai came to this one, but you knew his work was somewhere close.
“Hey!” you felt a breeze behind your back, and then a hand gently land on your shoulder, stopping you in your tracks.
“What…why are you following me?”
You turned around, getting your second full view of your ex for the night.
His hair was a bit longer. He still had those bandages on his neck—did he bother to change them out recently? His scent was as still as you remembered—grassy and toasty, a resemblance to green tea.
“I’m not sure why I’d leave a girl I know to walk alone at night,” he shrugged. “It’s dangerous!”
You continued walking, not responding to his reply.
“Where are we going?”
“Who’s we?”
“Aw, that was really rude.”
You ignored Dazai, making sure your stroll stayed a few feet in front of him.
You then entered a park, him trailing behind you.
“Why were you at the bar alone?”
“That’s none of your business.” You walked down the path, trees casting dark shadows onto the grass under the moon’s light.
“…And I wasn’t alone the entire time. I was with a friend, but she left to attend something.”
Dazai nodded, trying to catch up to your face. You immediately gave him more than enough space when he reached you, not wanting any invasion of your personal space.
“But you usually don’t drink unless you’re either celebrating or stressed,” he said. “And from what I’ve seen, it looks like the latter.”
You stopped again. “Again, it’s none of your business. Maybe you should focus on yours. You go and drink tons when you’re stressed, too.”
“Hey, I’ve actually gotten better at that…”
“You still ended up at a bar midweek.”
“But I didn’t even go in, no? I’m with you at a park right now.”
You were silent once again. But now you couldn’t complain that he was following you.
Why do I care if he drinks or not?
No. It’s normal. You’d care for the well-being of anyone you know.
You approached a set of swings in the center of the park. It had been ages since you’d been on one, swinging back and forth in carefree.
“Want me to push you?” you heard Dazai over your shoulder when you examined the equipment.
“Heck no,” you responded.
“Why not? It’d be fun!” He moved closer.
“No! I’m not sure if it’d even carry me,” you laughed. “It’s for kids.”
“You can try it. Just sit. And I’ll catch you if it breaks—“
“Shut up. I can catch myself.” You lowered yourself onto the seat, seeing that the metal poles did hold. You swung yourself a bit to test if it’d keep up your weight.
“It works.”
“Great! Can I push you now?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“I don’t trust you.”
“I won’t kill you, bel—I won’t! I promise.” Dazai childishly held out a pinkie toward you.
You sighed. “Fine. Just please don’t push me too high.” You clasped your pinkie around his.
“I got you!” You felt palms on your back, and then a light push that moved you forward, and then gravity pulled you back toward him.
Everything pulls me back to him—my mind and the universe both.
You were suddenly pushed higher, catching you off guard. You felt yourself fly multiple feet off of the ground, and you clutched the metal in panic.
“H-Help—Osamu!”
“You’re fine. You won’t fall,” Dazai chuckled. He pushed you again, sending you even higher than the previous time. You wanted to scream, but it came out more as a laugh.
“Is the thrill fun?” he asked while you were in the air, noticing your smile.
“Yeah, it is—HEY!”
Dazai had pushed you hard, sending you swinging all around the equipment, in a complete three-sixty.
“Osamu!” you cried, the momentum spinning you around once more. You couldn’t stop it—it was too fast.
You were clutched from behind, arms tightly wrapped around your torso to stop the swing. You could hear the sound of Dazai being dragged through the rocks below, but he was able to ground the both of you before you went flying again.
And you felt warm. Despite the evening’s cool air, you felt like you were encompassed in a fireplace’s heat on a winter day.
“Got you.”
You let out a giant exhale of relief. And then, you turned around in anger.
“I told you not to push me that high!”
“But I didn’t kill you, did I? You stayed on the swing the entire time! You were safe! Plus, I think you enjoyed it.”
You stood up, causing Dazai to let go of his arms. “I’m dizzy now.”
“Do you need water? We can buy some. And did you drive here?”
“No, I took a taxi.”
“Let me drive you home then,” he said.
“I think I’m fin—“
“Please,” he cut you off almost urgently, but then he caught his tone and reverted.
“I mean, many kidnappers disguise themselves as taxi drivers. Especially at night.”
“You’re still so cynical,” you replied. “Stop being so protective. It’s not like we’re…nevermind, sorry.”
You didn’t dare look at Dazai’s expression.
You each got a yogurt drink, and it helped soothe your dizziness immediately.
You walked by Dazai silently, but compared to earlier in the night, you were no longer repulsed to standing by him.
He opened his car door for you before getting in his seat on the other side.
“What have you been up to these past months?”
You asked as he found his keys, turning them into gear.
“A case. It’s something huge going on.”
Dazai’s work accounted for part of your breaking up with him. He was too secretive—despite you knew that he trusted you so much that he explained to you exactly what his job consisted of, and he only left details out to protect you from getting involved, you couldn’t handle it.
Maybe you were selfish for that. But you needed to know what your boyfriend was up to—if he was safe. Perhaps that was another reason why. You would never let him go if you knew of the exact danger he was volunteering himself in.
“I see. Sleeping okay?”
“If I do, sure.” He was suddenly reaching over your body, grabbing your seatbelt.
Your heartbeat fastened as Dazai hovered over you, pausing to look at anticipating eyes and a risky glance at slightly parted lips.
He sighed before fastening the buckle and moving away, acting like nothing happened.
You two drove in silence, you gazing out of the car window to admire how the city looked in the absence of the sun.
A song was suddenly put on. You looked at Dazai.
“Do you still like this song?”
“Yeah,” you replied. He had put on your favorite song, indeed.
You silently thanked him for it. The awkward tension to speak to one another had vanished; you could indulge yourself in music.
Until it ended, of course, but by then, you could see you were almost home.
“Osamu.”
“Yes?”
“This was a really bad idea. I hope I never see you again after this.”
“Probably, but maybe I wanted it to happen. Maybe I thought about you so much that I had to seize this opportunity.”
“What?”
“What if I hope to see you again after this?”
“You can go flirt with any other girl for entertainment.” He did a lot of that, too. Even if it was Dazai’s most efficient tactic for getting information, he had also said he simply couldn’t help it sometimes.
“I don’t find that interesting anymore.”
You looked at his distant, faint reflection through your window.
“…you think about me?”
You were answered with a nod.
Dazai turned, pulling you into your driveway.
“I’ll continue to even more after tonight,” he said. “Whether we see each other again or not. It plagues my mind every day. What I could’ve done better—how much you deserve that I failed to reach.”
He parked. “Of course, I’ve tried to move on. It’s the most fair thing to do for you. But if someone were to ask me, bella, saying that I don’t still love you would be a lie.”
“You’re selfish,” you commented.
“I know. I’m very.”
You opened the door, stepping out of the car.
“Thank you for driving me,” you said.
You walked towards your front door and then looked back at Dazai, who was standing by his side of the car.
You contemplated for a second.
“D-do you have something to do for the rest of the night?” you carefully asked.
“No.”
“Can you stay? Just for a bit. We can talk about things. And hopefully, you get some answers that will help you stop occupying your mind of me.”
You said that as if you were trying to convince yourself, rather Dazai.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah.” You pushed open the door.
Dazai followed you as you walked through the house—through the hallway and to the kitchen.
“Do you want something to eat? Or drink?”
“I’m okay, thanks,” he replied.
“Alright. Uh…feel free to make yourself at home. I’m going to change, I’ll be right back.”
You walked into your room, first washing your face in the bathroom. You stared at your face through the window, noticing how pigmented your cheeks were.
Why did I do this?
You were in the middle of changing your pajamas when Dazai knocked on your door.
“Can I come in?”
“Uh—“ you hastily buttoned two thirds of your shirt before, “Yeah.”
A smell of your favorite scent immediately flowed into the room as Dazai came in. It was of the candles you had around your house.
“You lit my candles?”
“Yeah. I got curious because the flavors looked nice. I like them. The scent matches you perfectly.”
“Oh…thanks,” you mumbled. You didn’t know how else to respond.
Dazai glanced around your room. Some things changed—you had moved some things around, redone the decor on your nightstands, changed your bed sheets…what he didn’t know was that you actually donated them after the break-up so you would never see them again.
“Did you need something?”
“Yeah. Do you still happen to have bandages?”
“Yes.” You had Dazai sit on the bed while you searched your closet for the box of bandages you would keep for whenever he came over. Unlike your sheets, you had kept them for your emergency first aid.
Or in case he happened to be in an emergency.
“What do you think you could’ve done better?”
There was a silence right after. You had hit Dazai with a hard question first.
“I’d stop disappearing so much without warning. I only realized how much I took that for granted when we stopped seeing each other. I would try to communicate better…” He looked down. “I’m terrible at it, I know, but I would try harder.”
“Why me? You could move on and find some other girl to treat right the first time.” You found the box, pulling it out.
“Because I would feel like a loser,” he added your name to the end of the sentence. “I was a total jerk to someone who loved me, and then I decide to switch it up for someone new and pretend to start on a clean slate? No, bella—I’m cursed with not forgetting and forgiving myself of the past. It feels cowardly.”
“Osamu, stop. You hurt me, yes, but you weren’t the only one in the wrong.
“I-I’m sorry.” You hadn’t apologized to him yet, through months.
You noticed his eyes almost widen, surprised.
“And I also forgive you. It took awhile, but I’m forgiving you of the mistakes that hurt me,” you continued. “And I’m apologizing to you too. So please forgive yourself. You don’t need to feel guilt.
“It’s only fair to you as well to move on.”
“Why, bella? How is it fair? How is it fair when the only person I want to see is you?”
“Osamu.”
You were right in front of him, the closest you’d been to him that night, discarding how he had tightly hugged you on the swing earlier. You were drowned in emotion that surrounded his desperate pleas.
“Can you please bandage me?”
“Why?”
“I miss your touches.”
You regret asking. He had no shame in expressing his thoughts, no matter what you two were going through. You regret asking, yet…
“Your coat.”
You climbed behind and rid Dazai of the top portion of his clothes—his vest and dress shirt. Then, you started unwinding the bandages on his arms, chest, and neck.
Gently, your fingers grazed the scars that hid underneath his attire, and his mind. Months ago, you had learned what every single mark came from after knowing where each one was—it was one detail Dazai fully opened to you about.
You were thankful you couldn’t see scars of the heart.
He would have thrice as many. Perhaps one of them would include you.
You rewrapped Dazai, leaving only his stomach unbandaged. You moved to do his neck when he paused you with his eyes, mere inches away from his face.
“You still haven’t answered my question.”
You wish he weren’t so pretty. You would’ve been able to rationalize yourself quickly—you would’ve been able to give him a final answer without hesitating. But he ended up being the face of your dreams and the depth of your heart.
“I tell myself it’s fair,” you whispered. His nose was almost touching yours. “I tell myself it’s better that we’re done. But my heart isn’t so sure. It asks the same—how is it fair? To keep myself longing?”
Your arms were around Dazai’s neck with the bandage, yet you did not move to finish.
His gaze moved to your lips. A hand moved to your hair.
“Is it fair? If it truly is, push me away, bella.”
He didn’t force himself any closer, leaving you with the choice despite his yearning appearance. You could feel the warmth of his body on yours and the soft air of his breaths on your cheeks.
“Yes. It’s fair, Osamu.” You came to your conclusion.
Yet, you dropped the bandages, cupped his face towards you, and pressed your lips on his.
“But I’m selfish too.”
You moved your hands to waft through brunette locks as Dazai pulled you onto his lap. He held you tightly—desperate at the acceptance of your invitation.
Closer, along with the fresh scent of green tea, there was a note of sweetness as intoxicating as chocolate. You came to know this pleasant surprise every time you were pressed up against him, tucked well into his embrace.
A hand moved down your waist, tracing your curves. Meanwhile, his kisses became sloppier, changing course to your jaw.
“Bella,” he whispered.
“Osamu?”
“Too much? Just let me know.”
“Don’t stop.”
He planted his lips on your neck, leaving a mark when he moved to the next area.
“I don’t want to lose you again. I missed you so much.”
“I missed you too,” you replied, pulling him down over you.
“Everything about you,” Dazai continued. “It’s enchanting. How you smile when you’re flustered—like right now, and how you react when I touch you here…”
His hand found its way under your shirt, and you started laughing. He knew how and where to draw every specific reaction out of you, including where you were most ticklish.
“Osamu! Stop, hah-!”
You let him stay hovered over you and left his curious hands to wander your skin. Dazai looked free of emotional distress for once—being able to calm just by admiring you. It was like medicine.
“Do you still keep a spare pajama set?” he asked.
“Yes. However, the guest room is being renovated.”
“It’s fine. A couch was a luxury for me at one point.”
“Or you…could stay here. And you can have your favorite side, the side closer to the window.”
“Because I always see how the sun’s rays lay on your skin when I wake up,” he smiled. “And how spellbound your eyes make me when you open them and the light hits it.”
“You remember so much.”
“I told you how much I think about you, belladonna. I remember every night that I’m with you.”

Tumblr media
you and ony have been dating for 3 years now. the two of you met during your freshmen year of high school but started dating during yalls senior year, and have been together ever since.
ony had met your family a few times before, they think ony’s a nice guy, i mean he has money, and makes sure you’re always safe and taken care of, and cares about your health, feelings and wellbeing. anyone who’s ever been around the two of you always says you compliment each other very well, your mother and the rest of your family loves ony.
well, everyone except your dad.
your dad HATES ony. why? he says he has a bad feeling about him, that he had bad intentions and he doesn’t want that “Weed selling thug” around his daughter. when you first brought ony home your father said “You’re not gonna last, i’ll give it a week before you’re crying and telling us he’s either in prison or cheated on you with some chick” long story short he’s a D1 hater
but to his surprise, 3 years later you and ony are still together, now 22 and 23 years old and still deeply in love with each other.
ony was very aware of your fathers dislike of him, that didn’t stop him from driving to his house on a saturday morning in the finest clothes he could find, and knocking loud and proud on his door. KNOCK KNOCk KNOCK
when your father looked out the peep hole and seen it was on the let out a groan and opened the door. “what?” he said with and irritation in his voice .
“g’morning sir” ony said with a big grin on his face. “i would ask to come in but-“ before he could finish he was cut off by your fathers voice “no, what do you want ? i don’t have time for this, i have things to do, where’s my daughter ?”
ony cleared his throat. “yns at her hair appointment, i wanted to ask you something tho, this is very important and i know you love your daughter a lot, so your opinion on this matters a lot.”
your dad raised his eyebrow at ony, motioning that he was listening.
“uh ion really know how to ask this but i know that your an old fashion man so uh..” ony pulls a ring from behind his back and holds it up to show your dad “can i… can i marry your daughter?”
as he was asking this question, your mother was walking by and was shocked by what she just heard and quickly ran over to the door and seen ony holding up a beautiful diamond ring
“Yes! Yes you can!” your mother said admiring the pretty ring infront of her husbands face.
meanwhile your dad stood there with a look of shock and disgust on his face. “he was asking me. and no, no you can’t. you’ll never get my blessing till the day i die, tough luck my friend, but the answer is no!”
your mom looked at your dad with a shocked look on her face “why you gotta be so rude??”
connie got tired of waiting in the car and came out to see what was taking ony so long “what’d he say?”
ony looked at connie and shook his head “man,he said no.”
connie looked over at your dad “that’s crazy man, whatchu say no for? you know how bad that must’ve hurt my man ego?”
ony looked over at your dad too “right, don’t you know i’m human and got feelings too?”
your dad rolled his eyes “i’ve been saying this for years, you’re no good for my daughter, i’m not gonna let you marry her then cheat and force her to go through more pain and a divorce”
connie mean mugged your dad “no disrespect pops, but ony been in your daughter since we was freshies, this guy got nothing but good intentions, i swear to you”
your mom nodding her head in agreement, seeing this made your dad scoff and shake his head “like i said you don’t have my blessing, if i don’t want you even dating my daughter what makes you think i’d allow you to marry her, the answer is no?”
your mother was standing there with her arms crossed shaking her head “you think i’d tell him he could if i tht out he had bad intentions?” your dad still feelings to remorse said “i don’t care, my answers no.”
“that’s fucked man, for real.” connie said.
ony just let out a dry laugh “Don’t worry bout it yall, im gonna marry her anyway” he said shrugging.
Connie laughed “that’s what i’m talking about” while your mother said “yeah, marry that girl!”
your father looked stunned as he repeated her words “marry that girl ??”
ony nodded his head saying “yeah, no matter what you say” he stopped and looked down at the ring one more time before closing the box and looking back at your after and saying “I’m gonna marry that girl, and we’ll be a family.”
ouuu girl yo daddy was soo mad, and his own wife was going against his word?? that bald headed ahh man was pissed baby, nobody cared tho, he walked back into the house mumbling under his funky ahh breath.
but that’s alll i’m writing tdy if u read this thank youuu and i hope you liked it (ts was mad corny no cap 😂😂) oh well ty for reading i love youuu!! kisses 💋💋 ! ❦.

You’re my Last Call
Word Count: 3.7k
Summary: You and Hotch had broken up over a month ago. Once he broke up with you, he disappeared, absolutely no contact with you anymore. You didn’t know why, there were no signs he was unhappy until he just broke off everything. Up until a freak accident happens, you thought you had lost the love of your life. What if that was never the case, and he just thought you’d be better off without his sadness?
trigger warning: car accident
read on ao3 here
Now there's blood on the windshield
And there's credit cards on the floor
And I'm crawling out the window of my passenger side door
Your picture's on the dashboard and that's the only thing I saw
You were always first to catch me when I fall
Yeah, I'm sorry you were my last call
- Lyrics from the song 3/13 by Wyatt Flores
Hotch was trying to remind himself of the good days when things felt less heavy and he could have a clear head. These days? Everything felt so heavy that he didn’t know if it was possible not to be stressed out. He had broken up with you weeks ago. Maybe it has been a month already, he was unsure at this point. He knew that his presence was a downer to everyone around him, and you had been too much of a light in the world to let him dull you. He loved you so much, but he knew that letting you go would be the best option for you to succeed.
Everything felt like it was going so slowly. He had left the office about an hour ago and was headed toward the victim's house to do one last walk-through to see if there was anything that the local police had missed. He knew exactly where he was going as he and the team had been there before, so he did not even tell anyone he was going there or put the location in his GPS. He had been paying attention, he wasn't too tired, he had slept pretty well the night before, and nothing but you were on his mind. He looked down at his dashboard, to see the photo of you he kept there. Even though he left, he kept you with him. He always wanted to keep you with him, other than Jack, you were his biggest source of happiness. He had looked down for a split second, but apparently, that was enough time for a far to cross into Hotch’s lane and slammed him into the wall lining the highway.
-
After the car crashed, Hotch couldn’t remember anything until he felt himself on the concrete ground and saw random faces flashing back and forth over the top of him.
“Sir. Is there anyone we can call for you?” They asked hoping to get an answer from the man lying in front of them. They knew there was a strong chance there was a concussion.
Hotch could hardly muster up many words, all he said was your name. Your name and said check the phone.
-
You were at work. Everyone else had started going home, and the law office was closed for the day. There wasn’t any noise as you sat typing your last report on your laptop, it seemed peaceful almost. That was until, your phone started ringing incredibly loud, piercing through the silence.
“Maam. This is Officer Finch. I have a man here by the name of Aaron Hotchner, he was in a car accident. He gave us you to call.”
“Where is he? He is a Federal Agent.”
Before the officer even finished giving you the details of where Aaron was, you had already grabbed all of your things and ran out of the office. By the time you hung up with him, you were only ten minutes away.
Nothing would stop you from getting to him. Nothing that happened between the two of you would make you not rush to his side. He was, and would always be, your person.
When you got there, the first thing you noticed were the lights and the sirens. It brought back so many memories from when Hotch was hurt by Foyet. your heart was pounding in your chest and you just needed to find him to see that he was okay. an officer waved you over, and you saw him lying on the ground. There was a cut across his forehead, and his eyes were grimacing like he was in pain. It was killing you, even though you hadn’t even fully gotten up to him to see him in that kind of condition. He looked almost pitiful. you weren’t sure if you wanted to talk to him because of how badly he had hurt you so you stood and talked to the paramedics who said that it was most likely that he had a concussion, but that he was going to be fine he was very lucky. The person had crossed his lane of traffic and when they did, it caused his car to swerve headfirst into the highway wall.
You heard a soft voice call your name. It was very quiet, almost like it was reserved. They didn’t want to be calling your name. They didn’t want you to know that they needed you at this moment. you didn’t know what to do because doing this was wrong to be an emergency contact on a person who had tried so hard to remove you from their life. One day everything was okay, holding hands laughing together, knowing each other’s favorite orders at the coffee shop, to not even a phone call explaining why everything ended with a snap of a finger.
“Yeah, Aaron I’m here,” you said softly in his ear, as you finally walked over to him, kneeling next to him and running your hands through his hair. That was always a small comfort for him when he really needed somebody he loved you running your fingers through his hair.
“ I am so sorry but you were the only person I wanted to be here, I know I am probably the last person you want to hear from right now.” His voice was still very soft, almost like it hurt to speak and he wanted to tell him to stop talking to focus on getting to the hospital, but you also wanted to hear what he had to say. Selfish as it was, you wanted to know why. Why did he end everything? Why did he act like he didn’t exist after two years of a beautiful relationship, why did he call you now he had his whole team that would break down walls to get to him if they knew something was wrong? Why did he call you a person who genuinely couldn’t do anything but be there for him?
“We will talk when you’re able to form a coherent sentence, Aaron, I'm here now and I’m definitely not leaving until I know you’re okay.” You rubbed his face with your hand, and he pressed his face into your palm.
you sat there as they loaded him into the ambulance and asked if you were allowed to ride along. They said yes, considering it was not life-threatening. You could drop your car at a gas station and they would come by and pick you up to take you with him. you did not want to be where you couldn’t see him, but you trusted the paramedics to take care of him for the five minutes he would be out of your line of sight. once you got into your car, you texted the team. You still had all of their phone numbers in case of emergency to let them know what was going on and your phone started ringing off the hook.
“What is going on?” JJ was on the other side of the phone. her voice made you calm down a little bit. The two of you had become very close friends during your relationship with Aaron and even after he had broken up with you JJ always kept in contact.
“They said that a car came into his lane and knocked him into the highway wall. He was conscious and able to talk, and I went with him to the hospital. I have to drop my car off at a gas station so it wouldn’t be stuck on the side of the highway.” You responded, your voice becoming wobbly during your explanation.
She gulped pretty heavily, you knew this was hard for her to hear. as well. “Do you want me to come up? I’m more than willing to come and just be a helping hand for you. I could be the communication between the team to let them know how he’s doing so you don’t have to constantly be on your phone and keep everyone updated. I can do it for you.” She knew how hard this was for you, and that small gesture would be such a relief, and would take so much off your plate that you didn’t even know how to deal with it.
“JJ you mean the world to me. Could you also contact Jessica and let her know what’s going on? I really don’t wanna have to call her even though I love her. This is just so much and I need to check on him and be with him.”
“Absolutely. I’ll see you soon. I love you.” She said you could feel how genuine she was in the last few words. Meeting Aaron was one of the best things that ever happened to you, but meeting her was a close second. You reciprocated and hung up the phone, got to the gas station, got into the ambulance, and off to the hospital you went. You held on to Hotch’s hand the entire time.
-
The next three hours consisted of people running in and out of the hospital room, checking on Hotch, readjusting him, checking his vitals, and it felt like almost complete chaos. The minute JJ got there you could almost cry out of relief. You needed someone else there, to make this seem like less of a fever-induced dream. To bring you back to reality, almost like a shared experience instead of being alone in a hospital room with the love of your life being poked and prodded by hospital staff.
“Hi sweetie,” JJ says as she walks into the room, tears in her eyes as she looks over at Hotch. You know the two of them are close, he always has talked highly of her.
“Hi.” This was the first time you have heard your own voice in hours and it sounded almost foreign to you. It sounded defeated and hurt.
“Why are you here JJ?” This caused you to jump. Hotch had not spoken the entire three hours until JJ walked into the room. Did he just not want to speak to you? If this was the case, why did he ask everyone to call you? You turned your head over to him, a look of hurt running over your face. He noticed immediately and turned his head away from you to look at JJ.
“You know what, I’m going to go call the team, I’ll be back in a minute. You better prepare yourself for Garcia to run in here with balloons in snacks in a few hours Hotch.” She tried to make the atmosphere less tense before she left, but the hurt and anger in you could physically feel it.
You stood up, walked over to Hotch, and put your hand under his chin, and made him look at you. He stared at you for a minute, tears gathering in his eyes as he did and he tried to open his mouth to speak but you didn’t let him get that far.
“Absolutely not, you do not get to speak right now Aaron Hotchner. You do not get to be the first one to speak after what you have put me through in the last few hours. I get to speak first.”
He nodded at you, tears slipping from his eyes.
“You LEFT me with no explanation. You are the love of my life. I would lay down everything I am and will be to make sure you and Jack are safe and happy. I did nothing wrong to deserve to be deserted. I did nothing, Aaron. I love you so much, I will love you until the day I die. Why would you have them call me? Why would you do what you did?” At this point, you were sobbing, and the last few words that came out of your mouth were gargled.
Hotch raised his hand and wiped the tears from your cheek, you wanted to turn away but your brain and arm betrayed you and you raised your hand up to hold his while it was on your face.
“Honey, it had nothing to do with you. You are the most beautiful, loving, caring person in this world.”
“But then why? What was wrong? What happened to us?”
“It was me. I was bringing you down. I was making everything worse. I didn't want to ruin your life with my hurt.” The last few words were barely a whisper.
You looked up, for the first time since this conversation started, and looked at the man in front of you. He was crying, tears falling down the side of his face onto the pillow. He was gripping your hard really hard, the ring on your fingers digging into your skin. He looked pitiful. He was heartbroken, not just because of what currently happened but because of everything going on in his head. You had wished he would’ve told you this a lot sooner. So much hurt could have been prevented if he had just been honest with you. But you knew this man, you knew he would hide things so deeply inside himself if it meant no one else had to get hurt. You knew he would hide things if it meant you would be protected from the harsh realities.
“Aaron. You are and will always be my world. If something is bothering you, I would like to talk about it. I would like to be able to be there for you if you would let me be. Please, just talk to me. Let me be there for you.” You put your hand on his cheek and he leaned into your palm. His face was flush from the accident and from the tears. He felt, defeated.
“I don’t want anyone to have to deal with me. Especially not someone who has so much to offer this world. I am just a mess of a man. You were the last person I wanted to call because I do not want you to have to clean up after me.”
“If loving you means I have to be there for everything, every sad day, every hard day, every difficult day, I will be.” You said, running your hands through his hair, his favorite.
“I don’t want you to have to do that.”
“Too late, I am already too committed.”
“You know, I was looking at my photo of you on my dashboard before it happened.” He turned his head closer to you.
“You have a photo of me in your work car?” You truly didn’t know this.
“Have the moment we started dating. It's a photo of you smiling at work when I came to visit for the first time. You were so excited to show me around to everyone. Your boyfriend is a Unit Chief in the FBI. You were so smiley the entire time, I wanted to remember that happiness on hard days. So in my work car, it sits, it's comforting.”
“Well, we can take more photos.” You sat on the edge of the bed, he sat up and you leaned into him. You were not going anywhere.
“I love you, you know that. I’m sorry for leaving, I just thought I was hurting you more than I was helping. I thought if you knew how bad I was feeling you would feel responsible or that I would hurt you.”
“I love you more than you know.”
-
After the talk, and JJ called the team to let them know the extent of everything going on, you decided to walk with her to get some coffee. Penelope had shown up five minutes after JJ ended the call with tons of goodies for Hotch, and you let her and Derek sit in there with him while you took a break. Hopefully, he would be okay, Derek could handle Penelope and Hotch needed a friend.
The two of you walked along side each other in silence until you got to the elevator. Once you got to the elevator JJ finally spoke up.
“Want to tell me what happened?” She looked at you sideways as she finished the question.
“Actually, yeah. What he said made me a bit worried and I need some more insight into what’s been going on.”
“I’m all ears.”
“He broke up with me because he’s having a hard time mentally. Has he been weird or more restricted at work at all?” You asked the question as you got into the elevator.
“A bit. I thought maybe it was due to the breakup but honestly it’s been going on a few months. I try not to pry because while he is my boss and my friend, i don’t want him to think i don’t trust him.”
“I understand that completely. I knew something was up, but I didn’t think he’d leave me just because he didn’t want to talk about it. I think we’re on the same page now, but i’m not letting this go. I love him too much.”
“He loves you too, trust me. Your photo is in his car, on his phone, in his office. You and Jack are his world. I honestly think he’s just scared.” As you got out of the elevator together she turned and hugged you. knowing you haven’t had one since this all happened. You loved your best friend, and she always knew what you needed.
-
Hotch was in the hospital for a day. They wanted to keep him overnight just for observation, but it turned out everything was okay. He had a concussion and a few cuts on his head but he was going to be fine. you were by his bedside the entire time you slept there you only left to go to the bathroom or if somebody else came and made you go get a cup of coffee. Usually it was JJ or Derek that convinced you to get up, despite Hotch telling you countless times it was okay to go home. You truly just were so happy to have him back you didn’t want to leave him again.
You both had walked to your car so you could drive him home. Jessica was keeping Jack for one more night that way Hotch could settle down at home and make sure that he was okay and you were going to stay with him tonight, because there was no way you were going to let him be alone.
“You know we have to talk about everything, right?” you said the minute you both got into the car.
“Yeah honey, I know.” He reached over and grabbed your hand and squeezed it hard.
“Why did you do this? I know you’re hurting. I would do anything to make you happy and feel loved and appreciated, that’s my goal when i’m with you. I’d do anything for you.”
“That’s the point, I just don’t want you to have to take care of me. I want to be there for you.” He started looking out of the window, like that was going to make his hurt get up and fly away.
“ Now you know a relationship is 50/50, and sometimes on bad days it’s 20/80. We give what we can, my love, and if you’re having a bad day I am more than willing to pick up the slack.” It was your turn to squeeze his hand, to bring him back to reality and remember that you were here, and that you were not going anywhere.
“I am embarrassed.” You looked over at him to see him, start to cry, genuine tears falling from his eyes, the look of defeat and hurt and embarrassment falling over his face. it was the saddest you had ever seen someone look and it absolutely shattered your heart to see him like that.
“Absolutely not,” You pulled over and stopped the car, “you have NO reason to be embarrassed about having a hard time Aaron Hotchner. You have been through more in the past few years than I could ever imagine. I don’t think I would be up walking around if I had gone through what you had been through. I would not be as good of a man as good of a dad as good of a person if I had been through what you had to go through. you give it your all every single day, whether it be as a father or as the leader of a team that saves peoples lives and every single day. you deserve somebody that not only wants to be with you at your best but somebody that will be there for you at your worst and I will be there for you. Always.” You took his face in your hands and turned him to look at you. He was still crying so you wiped his tears with your thumbs, and looked him in the eyes. You leaned in and gave him a big kiss. A kiss to cement everything you just said. So he knew, you were completely serious.
“Okay. I am sorry for what I've done, but for you, I am willing to try. I am willing to accept my downfalls, and lean on you when I need you. And you will never be my last call again, you will always be my first.”
“I better be.”
That got a smile out of him, and a small chuckle. You kissed him again and started the car back up, put it in drive, and took you both home.

I LOOOOVE Ur Alfie fics. Could u do just general headcannons about being married and starting a family with him? ❤️
Hi bb!!! Im so glad you like them! I hope you enjoy these HCs, I know I kind of went overboard! Maybe I’ll do a continuation?? Maybe I’ll focus on different aspect of life with him? Idk we’ll workshop it. As always, sending all my love 💕💕💕
Married Life with Alfie Solomons - HCs
Tumblr media
In planning the wedding, you initially were planning on a small wedding. Nothing too extravagant, just close family and a party at the house.
That’s what you planned anyway. It grew and grew with every family member that “HAD to come treacle!” Both of your families are rather large and extended. Mixed with business associates that had to be invited for sake of peace… it exploded into a 200 person affair.
Despite the fact that Alfie prefers to not be disturbed, it ended up being a grand affair. Drinks flowed. Laughter was raucous. The dancing never stopped! And there were only 3 fights, which Alfie involved himself in only 2 of them. Needless to say, it went rather well!
But your favorite part of the night above all was when you got home. Still giggling and warm from the party, you’re pulled into the parlor by your darling Alfie. Shirt half done, and hair a disaster, he looks so so handsome. His eyes so soft, he puts on the radio, bringing you in close to him, “Mrs. Solomons… would you give an old man a dance?”
And you do. Song after song, twirling around the parlor, enjoying the life that had a new layer of meaning.
Despite Alfie’s insistence that you shouldn’t keep working because, “No love of mine should be lifting a finger.” You kept your job at the distillery as his secretary and head of the jewelry shop. You insisted to Alfie that keeping your job that still made you feel like your own person, not just Alfie’s spouse.
There was something so intimate and special in waking up every morning with him, walking to the office with him, going through the work day, and coming home with him. If Alfie was clingy before, it had only grown worse since your nuptials. He loved having you near. He never wanted you away from his side.
Though the mornings were sweet, the evenings were by far your favorite with Alfie. Coming home, drawing the curtains closed to hide away in your own little oasis of solitude and quiet.
Instead of leaving you to do all the cooking and cleaning for the evening meal like other men of the time, Alfie stays wrapped close to your apron strings. As you craft a soul warming meal, he stays chopping and cutting, washing up the dishes as you go to ensure that the evening is free of any impediments.
Alfie takes Shabbat incredibly seriously. He is on a strict schedule on those days, and actually forbids you from working on Fridays, to let you prepare anything needed for the Sabbath. Many times your family joins you in your home, and Alfie takes the lead in prayers. Though you didn't think it was possible, your heart grows with adoration each time you watch him quietly go through the ritual. Watching his devotion and care to the faith and your people's history reminds you of the type of man he his.
Marriage with Alfie does not come without some arguments. It is Alfie Solomons. Both of you stubborn and passionate, it’s what makes you a formidable force together, but it also brings some… loud outbursts.
It usually is about whether or not he’s being wise in his decisions. But it also comes out when he thinks you’re not being careful. When a jealous flare rises up in him. Or just when he gets a little snippy.
But it doesn’t take much to make up. Once you and Alfie have let it all out, either one of you will go to the other and bridge the gap. When he’s particularly cross, all it takes is for you to find him in his favorite chair. Lean over the back of it, draping your arms across his neck. “I’m so sorry Alfie,” you whisper in his ear, a particular weakness, “I know you’re just looking out for me. Forgive me?” A few kisses in his neck and he’ll be dragging you into his lap, grumbling about how much of a vicious siren you are.
When you’re cross… Alfie pulls out all the theatrics. He comes to your room where you’ve holed up, seething. He gets on his knees, taking your hand in his, “Awe treacle… have pity on an old man. I’m sorry my love, I am. Don’t punish me too harshly now! Please give you husband a kiss yeah? This life is so short! Let’s not go to bed angry my love!”
And of course you forgive him. How can you not when he kisses you so sweetly, and begs so beautifully.
It will be a few years before you and Alfie have children. Alfie was worried that he wouldn’t be a good father due to his age, but in his heart of hearts he wanted little ones. He yearned to play with the kids on the floor with the dogs. To swing them around in the garden. Watch you be an incredible mother. Though he was afraid, you knew he would be the perfect father.
Once you both confessed your mutual desire for kids, it happened shockingly quickly. But is anyone really shocked? Alfie is determined and disciplined above all else.
Once you do get pregnant, Alfie does put his foot down. You are not coming into the office. It is far too dangerous for you to be coming in around all 'that business'. And Alfie heard from someone (he made it up) that working isn't good for birthing or babies.
He benches you for the entire pregnancy, and brings his former housekeeper Sarah out of retirement to help tend to you.
Every night Alfie would come home with something new for you. Brilliant and fragrant flowers. A sweet from the bakery. A new necklace or bracelet that you just had to have. "Growing a baby is hard work love! Especially with my kids! Big ol brutes growing in there eh?"
Whenever you became shy or uncomfortable about your changing body, Alfie would just croon in your ear, "Oh my love, you are absolutely radiant. An angel from God yeah? No no, a goddess. You're an absolute goddess yeah?" He'll rub your swollen feet as you cry, kissing your ankles as you release your stress and worries about the day.
As you can imagine... naming the baby (or babies as he liked to remind you of the possibility) was an incredible ordeal. No name was suitable.
"No no, he'll get hit. If I knew a little boy with that name in school, I would decimate him." "Now treacle that doesn't even sound good with Solomons!" "Mmm no. I don't like the meaning of the name. Not a good omen." "Can't do that name. I killed a man with that name."
After six days!! You both are able to come to an agreement. Joseph for a boy. Chava, after his mother. In the evenings, Alfie takes to reading to the baby, referring to them by both names. "Alfie dearest, there's only one in there!" "No no treacle. I know they're both in there. You may only feel one, but that's because Joseph is just a little shy ain't you my boy? Chava is going to be a little spitfire, just like her mum. They're in there, I know they are."
At night, Alfie pulls you to his side as he always does, with a protective hand splayed over your swollen belly. It's getting harder for you to sleep at night, so many times you lie awake, staring at your husband, running your own hand over your stomach, feeling the kicks and turns.
The prospect of twins is near impossible. But Alfie... he is so certain. And sometimes... sometimes you feel an extra flutter. An extra bit of energy that is almost missed.
The labor is hard. Long. Your mother comes to help along with Sarah and the midwife, and you had never felt pains like that before. Despite Sarah's admonishment, Alfie pushes himself into the room, wanting to be right next to you the entire time. He never leaves your side, brushing the sweat off your brow, kissing your head, reminding you how strong you are.
After 12 hours of labor, Joseph finally makes his appearance in the world. A large baby, with fat cheeks and long limbs. After a few announcing cries, Joseph settles into the arms of his father, fast asleep after his long journey. Alfie rejoices with you, holding up his son with joy, "Joseph! My boy! Welcome my son!"
You smile, a final sense of relief washing over you, until you feel another push coming.
7 minutes later, Chava comes careening into Earth, as loud as the choirs of heaven. Alfie catches Chava, marveling at how such a little body can produce such a sound. As Alfie cleans her face he just whispers, "This one... she will be an opera star."
Alfie joins you in bed once everything is settled. You spend the rest of the evening in and out of sleep. When awake you and Alfie just take turns holding the babies, marveling in how precious they are. How absolutely beautiful they are. While you sleep, Alfie walks around the house with both in his arms, just talking to them.
“Now you might not know this yet my angels… but you have the absolute best mother in the world. No I know, I don’t know how I got to marry her. But she is perfect. The best. We gotta protect her yeah?”
Alfie is the one who gets up in the night. Doesn’t want you to do more than you have to. And you’re already doing so much. Plus, he feels like he missed so much already, waiting till he was older to have a family and all. He doesn’t want to miss a single moment.
Alfie becomes even more soft and tender with you. Each morning he starts his day worshipping you almost. Telling you how much he loves you, how much he loves your children, how much he would give to protect you.
But he does become more paranoid about the dangers surrounding him. There’s two men posted at the door of the house at all times now, and you aren’t to go anywhere without either him or another trusted member of the gang. Though you fought him on it at first, you relented when you saw the palpable fear in his eyes.
He loves to show off the kids. He’s just so proud. He loves how much they look like you. “Better for them eh treacle? Glad they got the more beautiful out of the two.”
And while they did favor your features, they both carried Alfie’s eyes. Both gentle Joseph and powerful Chava carry that roaring ocean behind those dark lashes that brought you to Alfie all those years ago.
As the years go by, you only grow to love each other more and more. And every risk and every trial is worth the beautiful dream you get to have with Alfie.

~ Eren’s Birdie
Song Dedication: Mistletoe by Justin Bieber
Tumblr media
“Yo, you home?” you speak into your phone’s speaker without waiting for a greeting from his end.
“Yes…?” Eren answers.
“Busy?”
“Nope.”
“K. Come to my place.”
“Cool,” he cuts the call. You place your phone on the sofa before moving the mess, that would soon transform into your Christmas decorations, out of the way. As you clear the floor of all the stray pieces and tiny ornaments, you place the tiny chair near the tall tree in your living room while waiting for your best friend’s arrival.
You hear the doorbell ring about 15 minutes later and rush to open it. You greet Eren with a wide grin as you move to the side to let him in. He takes off his shoes near the door as he enters the living room.
“So, what do you need me for, madam?” He asks as he takes off his mufflers and scarf, tossing them on the sofa.
“Ouch… do you think so little of me to assume I only call you over when I need something from you?” you fake gasp.
“If you have to ask, you already know the answer dummy,” he pinches your nose before walking to the undecorated tree, deciphering the reason you’d called him over. “For this? You’re far better than I am at this arts and crafts shit.”
“Well, I cannot reach the top even with the tallest chair I own… call it the perks of being the taller friend, I’ll always think of you for such things,” you smile at him before blowing him a dramatic kiss.
“Sure,” he rolls his eyes as you lean down to the tree to start with the bottom half of the decorations. Eren sits next to you, playing with one of the tiny red stockings he picks up, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.”
“A best friend who makes cinnamon rolls cause she knows how much you love them is a friend indeed,” you try to imitate his voice, resulting in a terrible imitation.
His ears perk up at your comment nonetheless, completely ignoring the teasing tone and only focusing on what really matters.
“Did you really?!” he asks, excited like a puppy when he hears someone say ‘treat’.
“Yes… There's still about 10 minutes left though. It’s in the oven,” you say as you point to the tree, “So you should probably hurry up.”
“What a meanie!” he huffs as he fiddles with the ornaments, decorating them on the tree. You laugh as you begin working on the other side at a quicker pace than he does.
A few moments pass by before you hear his voice again, “This tree is so unnecessarily tall… You know, mum said you could just come to our house to celebrate the holidays when I told her you couldn’t go home because of work.”
“That’s so sweet of her… but I still wanted my apartment to look like it’s the holiday season. If I can’t go home this year, the least I can do is recreate some of the warmth and Christmas feels here.”
“Awww, is that why you called me? Cause I’m the star that lights up your whole world?” he says as he holds the golden ornament over his head.
“Not sure about my world but definitely my Christmas tree,” you tease as you check the time. You get up to walk to the kitchen as Eren fixes the chair closer to the tree.
“Only tolerating your bullshit for the rolls by the way…” you hear him complain behind you. You put the oven mitt on as you pull out the batch of fresh cinnamon rolls. You carefully place the pan on the counter, evenly pouring the sugar syrup over the buns.
Your body jerks involuntarily when you hear a loud shriek from the living room. Your heartbeat picks up pace erratically as you run out the kitchen to see what had happened. You find Eren lying on the floor, his right hand holding his left forearm tightly. He writhes in pain when he tries to move his left wrist.
“Ren, what happened?” you panic as you run to his side as you help him stand up. He doesn’t need to explain however – you see the chair with a broken leg lying next to the tree.
“Ugh– Careful,” he hisses as you try to help him straighten his wrist.
“I’m so sorry, I had no idea the chair would break… does it hurt a lot, I’m so so sorry Eren, if I knew I wouldn’t have asked–” your shaky voice breaks, tears welling up in your eyes.
“I’d rather have me fall from a broken chair than you,” he gives you half a smile but it’s so sincere that it makes you want to cry even more.
“Let me get the first-aid kit,” you sniffle but before you can rush to get the kit, Eren rests his right hand on your shoulder to get your attention.
“Get the car keys instead, I think I’m gonna need a little bit stronger than pain relief spray,” he says calmly. On the inside, he’s freaking out, but he doesn’t let it show since he did not want you to panic even further.
Your expressions distort to the point where it looks like you’re in more agony than the man who just fell from a chair. You nod frantically as you go to grab your keys before hurrying out the door to get him to a hospital.
~~~
“Sign it,” he says as he sees you walking into the hospital room where the nurse is fixing a cast around his forearm and wrist, “after all, the artist needs to sign their artwork.”
Eren shows little to no signs of discomfort and you wonder if he’s a psychopath or it’s simply the painkillers working. You open the water bottle before handing it to him as you give another apologetic look – the hundredth one in the last hour since the accident.
“I’m kidding! I’m all good!” He reassures you as he raises the arm up once the nurse is done fixing the cast.
“It’s better to rest for at least 6 weeks if you want to heal properly,” the nurse interjects plainly.
“That long? It’s just a hairline fracture right?” he asks her, confused.
“You still need proper rest Eren!” you scold him as you take his phone, the bag of medicines and water bottle in your hands, not wanting him to carry anything at all.
“I’m fine! This is nothing!” he chuckles, cupping your cheek with his free hand to reassure you. You bring your hand up to his, pulling it away before intertwining your fingers with his.
“Is that all?” you ask the nurse with concern and she nods. “Thank you,” you sigh as you lead Eren out the room.
“The bill?” he asks as you walk out the hallway.
“Paid it already,” you reply.
“I’ll pay you back later, yeah?”  he says as you get to the car.
“No, don’t. It’s my fault...” you murmur timidly as you drop his hand to open the door for him.
“Hey… it’s not. I love how much you care about me but please don’t worry so much,” he speaks, holding your hand once again, squeezing it gently.
“But I feel so bad,” you pout as you move your fingers lightly over his cast with your other hand before looking up at him with sadness in your eyes.
He headbutts you playfully, causing you to finally laugh as he says softly, “Give me all the cinnamon rolls and we’ll call it even.”
~~~
Eren wasn’t kidding about the cinnamon rolls – especially now that he had the golden ticket to get you to make as many as he wanted. Usually, you’d only make it occasionally or if he was upset with you after some silly argument and you wanted to suggest a truce temporarily.
So when you arrive at his place in the afternoon, with a container that doesn’t have any cinnamon rolls, 3 days later on Christmas eve, he acts like a bratty child who had been denied his favourite treat.
“Eren! This soup’s better for you. I’m not gonna let you binge on another whole batch of cinnamon rolls!” you speak sternly.
“I don’t recall asking for healthy shit. My mood’s craving cinnamon rolls!” Eren slaps his right hand on the table exaggeratedly.
“I cannot believe how childish you’re being. Where’s your mum? She’ll support me…” you shake your head.
“Carla’s out shopping for presents. I’m afraid you’re going to have to deal with him on your own,” you hear a voice and turn your head to look at Eren’s father entering the house.
The crease on your forehead that had formed while talking to Eren melts away when you greet his father, “Mr. Jaeger, good afternoon.”
“Good afternoon. Is my son bothering you too much?” he asks and you see Eren turn red out of embarrassment.
“Not at all,” you chuckle, “There’s no tantrum of his that I can’t handle.”
“Good. I assume you’re staying for dinner, yes?” Grisha asks politely.
“Yes. So are Mikasa and Armin, they might arrive anytime soon,” you reply, the polite smile fixed on your face.
“Great!” He nods before turning to scold his son, “Eren, don’t trouble the poor girl.”
Eren shakes his head before his father excuses himself to get to his room, leaving the two of you alone again.
“Poor girl? You’re so creepily formal with my parents. They think you’re the model child and I'm the one who corrupts you… even after all these years!” he snorts.
“Well… I am innocent,” you bat your eyelashes at him, “You’re the devil here.”
He rolls his eyes at you before leaning forward and opening his mouth, motioning you to feed him the soup.
“Your right hand’s fine! Drink it yourself.”
“This is the least you can do,” he says with puppy eyes, waving his cast up in front of your face.
“Ugh… fineee,” you take the spoon, blowing on the hot soup gently before feeding it to him.
When Armin and Mikasa arrive about an hour later, Eren goes into heavy, exaggerated details while telling the two about how he got the injury.
“... And then this one cried like a baby… more than I did,” he jokes, pointing your way.
“I was actually crying that my favourite chair of all time broke,” you shoot back dryly.
“Lies, you guys know she’s in denial about how much she loves me, right…? Anyway, the doc said it’ll be another 3 months at least before I’m healed completely.”
“What a drama queen, you’ll be fine in a month’s time!” you narrow your eyes at him.
“You guys bicker like an old married couple,” Armin notes and Mikasa nods in agreement. You’re pretty sure he’s teasing you too but he doesn’t follow it up with a laugh as if it's a serious statement, making you blush awkwardly as you try to avoid Eren’s gaze actively.
Despite Eren constantly teasing you throughout the night, it’s a peaceful celebration nonetheless. When Grisha and Carla retire to their bedroom after wishing your group ‘a jolly Christmas’ shortly after midnight strikes, the four of you gather around in the living room to exchange your secret santa gifts.
When you get a new set of oven mitts, a mini speaker and a perfume you’d been waiting to be restocked since forever with a note that read ‘Couldn’t decide which one was the best option so consider yourself lucky to get a genie like myself’, you jump up to give Eren a big hug while being careful not to bump into his wrist.
“Was it that obvious?’ he laughs.
“We never could’ve figured out the perfume one,” Mikasa giggles. Your eyes meet Eren’s and you feel your heart skip a beat as you eyes stray to his plump lips for a split second – brushing away the very inappropriate thought you just had about your best friend.
You quickly move away as you change the topic and get Mikasa and Armin to open their gifts. It’s obvious they got each other based on the gifts they'd received.
Eren is the last to open his mystery present. You feel nervous, suddenly second-guessing your entire decision. However, it dissolves just as soon as it arrives when you see Eren’s jaw drop at your gift.
“Holy shit! This might as well be the best gift I’ve received in a while,” his eyes gleam at the signed manga copy by his favourite mangaka Hajime Isayama.
“It better be! Took a lot of eff–” you smack your hand over your mouth mid-sentence at spoiling your own identity as his secret santa.
He smiles softly, hugging you as he teases, “Thanks Sherlock, it would’ve been so hard to figure out who it was!”
“Oh wait a min–,” you look around the sofa to find the other package you’d gotten him. You leave his side to get the tiny gift, handing it to him with a playful grin. He raises an eyebrow at you as he unwraps it. He lets out a chuckle when he pulls out the tiny cinnamon roll crochet plushie and bursts out laughing when he reads your note with it – ‘This should last you a long time, stop asking me for another batch already!’
“Never,” he wraps his arms around you, pulling you in tighter as you stumble in place, feeling the vibrations of his torso caused by his laughter. He gives you a quick peck on the top of your ear before letting go, your skin tingling with warmth at the gesture.
“Oh! Before I forget… mum knitted sweaters for all of you guys,” Eren grins proudly. All three of you basically pounce on Eren excitedly when he returns with the sweaters in one hand.
He hands you yours the last and it's your favourite colour. “Told mum to use that specifically,” he confesses, half-whispering so that only you can hear him.
You bite your lip and lower your head to keep yourself from smiling too hard. It's moments like these that have you feeling as if the platonic line in your friendship gets tangled with the romantic one.
Eren Jaeger could bully you to death, within his rights as your best friend, but then he'll randomly do something so sweet that it makes you awfully aware of the growing crush you have on him.
“Thank you,” you smile when you look up and your eyes meet. Eren believes that this smile could be the only thing to melt him if he were a block of ice.
At that moment, he wants nothing more than to squeeze your stupid face and kiss you to his heart's content. He feels a pang in his chest – the intense desire of his crush on you fighting against the rational part of his brain not wanting to spoil your friendship.
When you suggest watching a random Christmas movie, everyone cuddles together on the sofa like birds do on a cold morning. You don't remember most of it since you fall asleep halfway through the first movie itself. Since you fell asleep with your head on Eren's lap, he didn't dare move till the morning – he gladly accepted his fate as your pillow.
Maybe it was something in the air urging him to do something but when he saw the way you peacefully rested on him, he felt an intense need of wanting to protect and cherish you forever. Right there, he made his decision – he was going to confess his feelings to you. His love deserved a fair shot. Besides, he figured he'd simply call it a joke and move on if things didn't go his way.
~~~
Your slumber breaks when you hear soft whispers calling out your name. You feel the shuffling movement of your head being lifted up before being placed back down on a soft surface.
“Hmm?” You speak groggily as you sit up, rubbing your eyes as you sense Eren walking away. You check your phone and it’s just quarter to 5 in the morning. You're about to go back to sleep when you hear his voice again, along with footsteps pacing around from one end of the hallway to the other.
“Come here,” you hear Eren’s voice beckoning you from the passage leading up to his room. You want to go back to sleep but get up despite it when you remember he has a broken wrist and might need your help with something. You quietly tip-top to follow his voice, not wanting to wake up your other two friends who are splayed over the sofa, still deep asleep.
“Hey, what's up?” You speak softly when you look around in the dim light of his room to find him. You turn around when you hear the door close behind you.
“Merry Christmas,” Eren grins, standing just a foot away from you, holding a badly plucked green branch tied with a red ribbon over your heads with his free hand.
“Merry Christmas– what's that?” you mumble as your eyes fix on his hand to observe it closely. It's a Mistletoe – your eyebrows furrow as you look down to his face, expecting an explanation to be written over it.
You feel your heartbeat picking up its pace against your chest. You know what this means yet you can’t believe it entirely. You don't want to make a fool out of yourself by assuming something only for it to be one of his stupid pranks.
You think he's about to headbutt you like he usually does, but he catches you by surprise when he simply rests his forehead against yours.
“You know what this means?” he breathes as he brings his hand down to hold the mistletoe in the space between your bodies.
This is it! He's asking you to kiss him!!!
Still wanting to play it safe, despite his blatant hints, you nod your head as you speak, “This means I give you a bone-crushing hug.”
His eyes narrow at you as he pulls back, “No… what a chicken. Kiss me.”
Your heart flutters, yet you try to play it cool and tease him further, “What a baby.”
You wrap your hand around his neck to pull his face down to your level. He obliges and you place two fingers to his chin to turn his face to the side. You lean in to kiss him on his left cheek.
He lets out a soft chuckle as he imitates you, kissing you on your left cheek in return. You giggle as you give him another peck on his right cheek next, resulting in him repeating you once again.
Then comes the forehead and you have to stand on your toes to do it. He leans down to kiss your forehead, you're pretty sure he was about to joke about it but he doesn’t break the intensity of the moment.
Your heart feels like it's almost about to burst out of your chest when you kiss the tip of his nose, followed by his chin, giggling nervously.
You close your eyes in anticipation, expecting the touch of his lips on the same spots on your face but it never arrives. Instead, your breathing halts abruptly when you feel his lips land on your lips.
You pull back quickly and open your eyes to scan his face for any signs of mischief. Instead you’re met with the softest expression, displaying nothing but a kind adoration for you. He brings your hand up to place it on his cheek, smiling at you, encouraging you to dare.
Without wasting another second, you cup his face with both your hands as you pull him down for a kiss. He smiles into the kiss and you close your eyes, enjoying the feeling of his soft lips moving against yours.
Your legs feel giddy and your thoughts feel intoxicated by Eren’s sweet caresses. His free hand is wrapped around your waist firmly and even as you kiss him, you’re cautious about his cast, trying not to accidentally touch his left arm.
You pull away from his touch hastily when you hear the doorknob twist. You both stand next to each other, staring at Armin with a half-perplexed and half-embarrassed look on your face.
“I can’t seem to fi– oh,” he stops when he looks at both of your faces, his half-lidded sleepy eyes suddenly alert. Armin has always been a smart guy – which right about now is making you and Eren look like two deers caught in headlights.
Armin raises his eyebrows, the grin on his face growing wider. “Don’t forget to lock the door,” he mumbles as he simply turns back around before closing the door behind him, leaving you and Eren alone once again.
Eren’s quick to lock the door before turning around to lean against it, signalling you to come closer with the motion of his fingers. You roll your eyes but follow him regardless, wrapping your arms around his neck and resting your face on his chest.
Your hand moves to his pec, feeling around for his heartbeat before resting it there completely. You close your eyes and you soak into the warmth of his body as your best friend/lover places soft kisses on the top of your head.
Your heart flutters again, filled with happiness to the brim, making you wish you could trap time in a bottle to seal this moment with you forever.
Tumblr media
The sound of you humming greets Steve when he enters his house after a shift at Family Video. His exhaustion fades immediately when he hears you and a smile spreads across his face. He walks towards the kitchen; you haven’t heard him come in yet, too distracted with the meal you’re making.
Steve approaches you from behind and wraps his arms around you, nuzzling his nose into your neck. You lean into him as he begins peppering sweet kisses against your neck and bare shoulders. The late August heat doesn’t allow you to wear anything else but tank tops and shorts these days.
“Hi, sweetheart.” He whispers into your ear, kissing your earlobe before pulling away. “What grand concoction have you created here tonight?”
You shift so that Steve can see the chicken you’ve just stirred into the pasta. “I’m about to start on the salad, I figured you could eat some greens.”
“I’m not eight–”
“You act like you are.”
“Last I checked, this is my home–”
You cut off Steve’s complaining with a kiss, which he happily accepts. Technically he’s right, it is his house, but ever since the two of you got together Steve has never failed to remind you that whenever his parents are away, you’re more than welcome to barge in at random. You thought he was exaggerating originally, but the first time his parents were gone he demanded that you spend the entire weekend at his place.
Since then, you’ve taken Steve’s word and you now use the empty space to your advantage to spoil the boy whenever you can. The two of you have had a rough summer, and you involuntarily shudder at the memory of the Russians from just a month ago.
Steve notices your sudden discomfort and nudges your side. “Hey, you all right?”
“Yeah,” You shake your head as if to dispel the memories. “Anyways, it may be your house, but we both know you’d die of starvation without me.”
Steve raises his hands in surrender, knowing that you are absolutely correct. Before you came into his life, he would spend these lonely nights staring at the empty refrigerator, his stomach growling. Before you, a lot of aspects of Steve’s life were empty.
You set the stove burner down low so the meal can simmer and you can start on the salad, but the smell of sweat and dust makes your nose scrunch up in displeasure and you turn to face your boyfriend. “Steve, light of my life, man of my dreams, body with my favorite pair of lips attached… you reek.”
The man in question acts as if he’s been shot, clutching at his chest dramatically and gasps for air. “I’ve been hit! God, Y/N, you’ve killed me.”
You grab the wooden spoon you’d been using for the pasta and wave it threateningly at Steve. “Either you shower and we can eat this lovely meal together or I leave. You choose.”
Steve groans dramatically but complies, giving you a mock salute and running upstairs to his bathroom to rinse off.
“You’re no longer a part of the Scoops Troop!” You shout up to him, giggling when all he says back to you is “can’t a man live?”
It doesn’t take Steve long to get cleaned up, and by the time he comes downstairs wearing a worn hoodie and sweats, you’re putting dinner on the table.
Steve whistles. “Well, isn’t this domestic?”
You roll your eyes at him. “I’m only here for your kitchen, remember that, Harrington.”
“I’d argue that you’re here for my beautiful, deadly attractive, daring good looks.”
“In your dreams, bud.”
You begin making Steve a plate and beckon for him to sit, and Steve’s heart warms as he watches you scoff at all his jokes, easily keeping up with his sarcasm, and then dote on him as if it’s in your second nature. He can’t believe he got so lucky to be loved by you.
Everything is so easy when it comes to you, and Steve adores the partnership you've formed through years of trust and hardship. While he can’t say he’s necessarily glad that it took almost dying at the Byers’ house for the two of you to meet, he has to admit that it led to the best thing in his life.
“Here you go, love.” You gently place a plate in front of Steve, and God he’s so in love.
The two of you eat mostly in silence, and the meal is incredible because everything you do is incredible (in Steve’s unbiased opinion). There are a few teases here and there, Steve compliments the meal until you’re crying from laughter, and it’s all just lovely. The house feels warm, and Steve never imagined that his home could feel warm.
Once you both finish eating, Steve clears the table and begins to wash the dishes while you dry them. Though you’ve only made dinner at the Harrington house a few times before this, you and Steve have created a solid routine. You cook, he cleans, and then afterwards you both watch a movie. It’s simple, but it makes Steve melt inside; it feels like a home.
He gets lost in thought as he rinses the dishes, and you’re once again next to him, humming a familiar tune. After everything he’s been through, Steve would do it all again if it meant he’d have you by his side, cooking dinners and groaning at his movie choices.
This summer, when Robin first met you, she was convinced that Steve was paying you to be with him. Originally he laughed at her teasing, but when he comes home to you in his kitchen humming, he thinks that maybe fate was being too kind to him.
Here you are, dutifully drying off the dish Steve has just handed you, your hair pushed behind your ear as you focus on your task, your eyebrows slightly scrunched as you inspect your work; Steve is struck by how beautiful you are. You’re his. What did he do to deserve you?
“Lovely, if you want me to dry the plates off, you need to rinse them first.”
Steve breaks out of his thoughts and sends you a sheepish look. “Sorry… got distracted, I guess.”
You frown. “What, is my humming not entertaining enough for you?”
Despite not wanting to, Steve chuckles. “No, I promise I love hearing your grating voice.”
Gasping, you throw the towel you’re holding at Steve and he easily catches it. You’re still clutching the rag, and he uses this to his advantage, pulling at the towel so that you’re close to him as well. You end up face to face with him, and even after months of being together you can’t help but blush.
“You planned that.”
“Sure I did, sweetheart.”
You wait for Steve to do something else, but he seems content to just have you close to him as he gazes at your face. You’ve had boyfriends before Steve, and whenever they stared at you it always made you feel uncomfortable. With Steve, it feels safe.
During your towel endeavors, a strand of your hair falls in your face, and Steve gently pushes it behind your ear. He’s looking at you so tenderly that it makes your bones ache, but there’s also an uncertainty that you’re unfamiliar with. Before you can ask him what’s on his mind, Steve begins to speak.
“Did you know that you’re the only person who has never wanted something from me? You just… you see something within me that’s already there, and you accept that part of me without demanding more from it. It’s enough for you.”
Though the words make you want to kiss the life out of Steve, a part of you wonders what’s sparked this topic. “Where’s this coming from, love?”
Steve sighs, struggling to string his words together. “I-I don’t know, I just– we spend hours together every day, and from the moment I met you I have never once felt like I needed to put on this act in front of you.”
“An act?”
“It sounds dumb, I know–” Embarrassed, Steve attempts to pull away but you grab his face and coax him to look at you.
“Shh, no, it’s okay. Talk to me, what act have you felt like you’ve needed to put on for other people?”
You watch Steve’s face, the way he struggles to find a way to express his fears, and all you want to do is shield him away from it all. “I have this… this fear that if I’m not someone interesting, or cool, or–or funny, or anything less than entertaining, then– then I’m not good enough. I mean, that’s pathetic, right? Being so afraid that being myself will bore the people who I want to love me.”
Steve’s words sadden you and your first instinct is to immediately tell him that he’s wrong, that he shouldn’t ever feel such a burden of not being enough. He’s more than enough, he’s everything to you, but you also understand where this fear has come from. You think about how often his parents leave, the kids at school demanding this specific persona from him, the way he clutches at people who are nice to him in hopes of them becoming his friend. Steve has been beaten and broken down through the course of his life; you can’t go back in time and fix that, so you tell him the only words you believe he needs to hear.
“I don’t think it’s pathetic, Steve. It’s human, and I love you all the more for it.”
Surprise crosses Steve’s face. “You… you love me?”
You laugh, nodding your head and you drag a finger across his cheek, admiring the way his stubble feels against your skin. “Of course I do. Why wouldn’t I?”
“Because I’m so madly in love with you, and luck was never on my side.” Steve is smiling so wide you’re afraid he’ll hurt himself somehow. He’s glowing and happy and you truly believe he’s never looked so beautiful.
“Luck or not, loving you comes easily to me. You’re frustratingly loveable, Steve Harrington.”
Steve bats his eyelashes at you. “Obviously.”
He’s happy again, back to his overly confident self, and you love him even more somehow. Steve is always showing you new sides of himself, some more vulnerable than others, and you’re honored he trusts you with these sides of him.
Later that night, you’re laying on his chest as a random movie plays. You honestly have no idea what Steve put on, you had tuned him out when he was explaining how Robin demanded they watch the film and the lore behind it that apparently they needed to know. He had looked too pretty while speaking, so that was all you focused on.
Now images flashed on the screen in front of you and your eyes began to feel heavy. You’d come straight from your shift at the arcade to Steve’s, eager to prepare the dinner you had in mind.
You glance at the clock and see that it’s almost ten. While it was summer, your parents still requested that you come home at reasonable hours; they let you stay at Steve’s for days on end, so you couldn’t really argue with them about a curfew. Fair was fair.
Lifting your head up, you poke at Steve’s chest. “I gotta go home soon, Harrington. Don’t forget.”
Steve shoos your hand off his chest, eyes still on the screen. “Yeah, yeah.”
“Steve–”
“Shhhhh!”
“Steve Harrington!” You grab a pillow and hit his chest. “Did you just shush me?”
“Well clearly it didn’t work–”
You jump on top of Steve and start shaking him. “I made you a lovely dinner tonight, I even made your plate, and now you treat me like–”
Your words are cut off as Steve wraps his arms around your waist and flips the two of you so that he’s now on top. He begins to tickle you and you squeal with laughter, desperately trying to get away from his cruel attack.
“St-stop!” You gasp for breath, but Steve continues on. “Please! Steve, oh my GOD!”
Steve smirks. “I always love making you breathless and begging.”
His words don’t help the situation and you’re left defensiveness against him. Your ribs start to hurt from laughing so much, and Steve joins in, so proud of himself. You can’t help but think of how he’s such a moron, but he’s a moron that you love.
“Steve–”
“I’ll stop if you tell me you love me again.”
You try to catch your breath, but he continues to tickle you and it’s hard to get the words out, but you do your best. “I-I love– that tickles, you asshole!”
“That’s a weird way to confess your love for me, Y/N.”
“I love you!” You finally manage to force out, and immediately Steve keeps to his word and stops tickling you. He remains above you, smiling all smug, and you struggle to steady your breathing. “You’re evil.”
“Yeah, well.” A soft smile graces Steve’s face. “You love me, anyways.”
You reach out and tangle your fingers in his hair, bringing his head down so that you can kiss him. It’s slow and sweet, no heat behind it; these kisses are your favorite to receive from Steve. “I do love you.”
“Good. Now, shall we get my lady home?”
Steve helps you stand up, gentle with you as always, and he helps you fix your now crooked top and ruffled hair. He holds your hand, guiding you out the door, and opens his car door for you. You had brought your own car here, but even without asking you know that Steve wants to take you home himself. He’ll pick you up some other time so you can have your car back. For now, he’s gotta take care of his girl.
“I get my own escort home? Wow, who knew Steve Harrington was such a gentleman.”
“Hardy har har.”
You get in the car and buckle yourself in, watching as Steve fixes his mirrors and begins the slow drive back to your house. “Careful, love. You wouldn’t want people to think you’re getting soft for me.”
Rather than sarcastically respond like you expect him to, Steve hums and shrugs his shoulders. “Sweetheart, I think we’ve established that I’m too soft for all of it.”
You’re quiet for a moment, contemplating how to respond before simply saying, “I’ll be careful.”
It’s three words, but to Steve it’s everything he could ask for. He smiles at you, reaching over the counsel to hold your hand, and you drive in comfortable silence the rest of the way home
done ! thank yall for readin, i hope you guys liked this, and i really want to write more depending on how this does. i just think steve harrington is neat.
I Wanna Be Yours - Part Two
Part One Here Part Three Here
It had been a couple of weeks since you had confessed your feelings about Eddie to Robin and you had shoved the thoughts to the back of your mind yet again. Steve and Robin had asked both you and Eddie to come out with the two of them, like old times. This was something that almost rarely happened since Halle was born. It would usually result in just one of you going out while the other stayed home with the girl. Eddie really didn’t like leaving her at all if he could help it and you couldn’t blame him, you wanted to spend a good chunk of your time with her as well. Steve and Robin had worn Eddie and you both down together, convincing you to let Nancy to watch Halle overnight. Nancy and Johnathan had their own daughter who was right around Halle’s age, but just a little bit younger.
It was going to be Halle’s first night staying at someone other than Wayne’s house without her dad. Eddie had hesitantly agreed to the night out with his group of friends. When you all got to the hideout later that evening, the first thing he did was call Nancy and Johnathan’s to check in on her. Nancy has assured Eddie that Halle was doing great. Her and Emma were both fast asleep by now. Once he got off of the phone and handed it back to the bartender, he sat at the table with his small group of friends.
“How’s Halle?,” You ask as he sits down.
“She’s good. She’s asleep for the night so I think we’ll be okay,” He responds.
“See man, everything is under control. Relax, have a few drinks,” Steve said and handed Eddie a shot. It wasn’t that Eddie didn’t drink anymore, he liked to come home from his shift at the plant on Friday’s and have a few beers after Halle was asleep in her bed, but he hadn’t been out and gone drinking with his friends in what felt like years. Eddie took the shot Steve handed him and tried to cut loose a little bit. He was happy that you were here with him and knowing that he wasn’t the only one wanting to know the wellbeing of his daughter. He really appreciated that you cared so much for his daughter. You all take a few more shots and Eddie notices that you’re anxiously checking the time on your watch every 15 minutes or so.
“Guys c’mon, you’re in your 20’s, act like it!,” Robin said passing out more shots. You knew in the back of your head that she was right. You had taken about 3 shots at this point and started to feel the alcohol warming your body. Most other 23 year olds you knew would be out partying like this most nights of the week. Even most 25 year olds you knew were still in that phase of your life. So you knew that you and Eddie acting like you were a couple of 50 year olds was completely abnormal for your age range. A band comes on stage and Eddie glances up to see a group of guys that were probably in their early twenties starting a set.
As he watched the band play, he thought back to his own days of being in their position. He missed those days from time to time. The more those thoughts flooded his mind, the more he realized that he did deserve to have a single night of partying like the old days. The more shots Robin, the more she cheered for the band on the stage, and you couldn’t help but laugh at her when she did. Since it was a Saturday night, there were more people than normal at the Hideout, but there still wasn’t a great big crowd. Robin was really standing out amongst the crowd. She grabbed your hand and pulled you up with her to dance along to the catchy rock song that band was playing and started cheering for them even more. You laughed and felt yourself relaxing as you danced along with Robin.
“Can’t believe that that was you up there not long ago, huh?,” Steve asked Eddie and they both chuckled.
“Yeah man, it’s crazy how fast time is going by. I don’t get to play my guitar as much as I would like to anymore. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t trade Halle for anything in the world, but it would be nice to have some time to pick up my old hobby again and maybe even play a gig again,” Eddie responded.
“Hey man, there’s nothing wrong with that. You don’t have to justify missing a time before your kid. You do so much for her and you deserve to have some you time,” Steve says and Eddie just nods in agreement.
“Speaking of you time, have you been talking to anyone lately?,” Steve asks Eddie. Steve seemed to be very interested in Eddie’s love life lately and he couldn’t figure out why.
“Nah, man, I don’t have time for dating,” He said, subconsciously looking over at you dancing along to the music. Steve follows his gaze and smirks.
“Uh huh, sure,” He says and chuckles. Eddie looks back at Steve and furrows his brows.
“What does that mean?,” Eddie asks.
“I just mean that maybe you’re basically in a relationship and don’t realize it,” Steve says, taking a swig of his drink.
“I am not in a relationship,” Eddie says defensively.
“Eddie, I have never had someone look at me the way you look at Y/N,” Steve states.
“I don’t look at her in a certain way. She’s my best friend and the godmother to my daughter,” Eddie responds.
“She’s basically your wife, Ed. You’re living in ignorant domestic bliss. That’s why you’re not interested in dating,” Steve chuckles again and Eddie scoffs.
“She is not my wife man,” Eddie replies.
“Okay, then tell me you’re not in love with her,” Steve says.
“I love her because she’s my best friend and has been for years,” Eddie says, not meeting Steves eyes, but not admitting his true feelings.
“Uh huh, that’s just a fancy way of saying you’re in love with her. Those almost sound like wedding vows,” Steve teases Eddie. Eddie rolls his eyes.
“Hey guys, the band invited Y/N and I over for a drink to their table. We’ll be right back,” Robin says taking another shot and grabbing your hand and dragging you over to the bands table. Eddie’s eyes wander over to you as you sit down at the table next to one of the band members. He watches as he put his arms around your shoulders and orders drinks for the table and Eddie scoffs again.
“Ooh, someone’s jealous. Gonna be hard hiding those feelings now lover boy,” Steve teases Eddie again. Eddie looks at Steve with an annoyed face.
“Why are you suddenly so interested in my love life anyways?,” Eddie asks him.
“Well, before you know it, Halle will be starting school, giving you some more free time. I just think it would be easier if you realized now that you had the girl of your dreams literally living with you and helping you raise your kid before you started trying to get back out on the dating scene,” Steve responds.
“Well thank you very much for you concern Harrington, but I’m a big boy and I can handle myself,” Eddie says, looking over at you again. You meet his eyes for a second and make a fake disgusted face at him without anyone else seeing to signal that the guy with his arm around you was getting on your nerves and he chuckled.
“Case in point. You two can literally communicate without communicating. You’re so in love with each other and oblivious its disgusting,” Steve says.
“Wait, at first you assumed that I was in love with her, now you’re assuming that she’s also in love with me?,” Eddie asks looking at Steve again.
“Takes two people to make a marriage work Eddie,” Steve says and Eddie rolls his eyes yet again ,” Your eyes are gonna get stuck like that.”
“You sound like me scolding my 4 year old,” Eddie says.
“Well she had to learn that little move from someone,” Steve responds and Eddie glares at him.
“Can we just have a fun night man?,” Eddie says taking another shot.
“Sure Ed, I’ll drop it for now,” Steve says taking a drink of his coca-cola. You and Robin come back over to the table and you give Eddie a look as you sit back down beside him.
“That guy was getting on your nerves?,” Eddie chuckles.
“More than you know. ‘Oh I’m just so good at guitar man. I’m like a prodigy, at least that’s what my mommy tells me before she tucks me in at night’,” You mock the guy who was flirting with you a few moments ago and your friends all laugh ,” I’ve never met anyone with a bigger ego.”
“Hey there was always Steve a few years ago,” Eddie laughs and it was Steves turn to roll his eyes.
“Careful, they’re gonna get stuck like that Stevie,” You say and laugh and Steve gives Eddie a look to which Eddie laughs a little harder. You all hang out at the hideout for a little longer before Steve decides to take you all to the local diner to get some food in you. He only had one drink at the beginning of the night so he could DD for everyone. You pull into the diner and make your way inside. You side on one side of the booth with Eddie while Robin and Steve sit on the other side. You all order some food and make some small talk as you wait for it to come. You are looking out the window when Eddie gently nudges you.
“Are you okay?,” He asks looking concerned.
“Do you think Halle’s sleeping through the night? She took her stuffed bunny with her right?,” You ask looking at him and he wanted to kiss you right there.
“Yeah she took it with her. I think she’ll be alright. It’s already 2am so were halfway there until she comes home anyway,” Eddie says smiling at you and rubbing his hand over your arm. You rest your head on his shoulder and sigh in relief.
“You’re right, she usually sleeps like a rock after midnight anyways,” You say and yawn yourself. Your food is finally brought to the table and you start eating your fries. The longer you sit in the diner, the more tired you get. This is the latest you have stayed up in a long time. Once you are all finished eating, Steve drops you and Eddie off at your apartment. You make your way inside and collapse on the couch.
“I’m never going out with them again,” You say as you lay your head on arm of the couch,” How can they stay out so late.”
“I am right with you there,” Eddie replies, lifting your feet and sitting down so they’re now propped on his lap. He thinks back to what Steve said to him earlier in the night about you two practically being a married couple and he couldn’t help but start to notice it a little bit himself as his hands rested on your shins and gently stroked them. Steve and Robin would never sit like this. He looked up at you and saw that you were drifting to sleep and pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind.
“Alright, c’mon sweetheart, time for bed,” He said, gently nudging you awake. You begrudgingly sit up and let Eddie grab your hand to help you off the couch. You both walk down the hallway and divide into your separate bedrooms.
“Goodnight sweetheart,” He says.
“Goodnight Eds,” You say yawning shutting your bedroom door behind you. You lay in your bed and drift off to sleep after changing into some comfortable clothes.
————————————————————
“Be gentle baby.”
You are woken up the next morning by soft giggling and someone playing with your hair. You open your eyes and the first thing you see is Halle and you bring her into a sleepy hug. You open your eyes and see Eddie standing beside your bed.
“She couldn’t wait until you woke up,” He says apologetically.
“It’s okay, I wanted to come with you to get her,” You say, disappointed you didn’t get to see her sooner.
“You were snoring pretty loud so I figured I’d let you sleep in,” He says and chuckles, sitting down on the edge of your bed. You open your mouth dramatically in offense.
“I do not snore”
“Oh you so do,” Eddie responds laughing.
“Hals, do you hear the mean words your dad is saying to me?,” You ask looking at the girl.
“You snored loud,” Halle says matter-o-factly.
“Betrayal!,” You tease and tickle Halles neck. She giggles loudly and you smile widely at her.
“How about you two get ready and I take you out for brunch,” Eddie says looking at you and Halle.
“What’s wrong with how I look now Munson?,” You ask jokingly looking up at him. You know you look like a mess with your makeup from last night still on and in your mismatched clothes as you sleepily pulled out of your dresser the night before.
“You don’t match and you got spots on your face,” Halle says looking at you.
“Baby that wasn’t very nice,” Eddie says and tries to hide a laugh.
“Wow, if you ever need to be humbled, just talk to a 4 year old. But the child speaks the truth,” You say laughing. You get out of bed and make your way to the bathroom to get ready for the day. You put on your best pair of sweatpants and a band t-shirt with your converse and put your hair up in a bun. You walk out of the bathroom after brushing your teeth and make your way out to the living room.
“This is as best as you’re getting today,” You say to Eddie.
“Hey you look good enough to me,” Eddie says, wearing a very similar outfit. You notice Halle is also dressed in sweatpants and a mini band t-shirt, except the outfit is paired with her rainbow sneakers.
“She wouldn’t let me put her in any other shoes,” Eddie says chuckling when he notices that you’re looking at her outfit.
“She looks great!,” You say smiling at Halle. The three of you make your way to the diner you were at the night before and order some food. It is technically yours and Eddie’s breakfast, but Halle’s lunch. The waitress comes over and sets down your drinks.
“You three are just the cutest little family. It’s adorable that you’re all matching,” She says and walks away before you can respond. This happened quite often where people assumed you were Halle’s mom. It made your heart soar but it was always a little bit awkward. Your food finally arrived shortly after and you started eating.
“Are you my mom?,” Halle asks as you take a bite of your omelette and it takes everything in you not to choke on it.
“She’s your godmom baby,” Eddie responds.
“Yeah but Nancy has her new baby in her tummy and Emma called her mommy. Was I in your tummy?,” Halle asks you and you feel like your heart could break into a million pieces. You were in shock and thankfully Eddie comes to your rescue.
“You weren’t in her tummy baby. You were in someone else’s tummy. We were just lucky enough that Y/N and daddy were friends before you were born and so she’s been here your whole life. I asked her to be your godmother when you were born and she said yes and she’s loved you ever since. ,” Eddie says. You both knew that she would have these questions someday, but you never thought they would come about while she was still so young.
“Am I supposed to call you mommy?,” Halle asks.
“No baby, you can just call me Y/N,” You respond to her. You would love nothing more than to be her real mom. If she ever did call you mommy, you would probably die from excitement. Halle still has a small look of curiosity on her face but she accepts your answers and continues eating her chicken tenders. You meet Eddie’s gaze and he looks at you apologetically. You give him a small smile as if to signal that it is okay and that he has nothing to worry about. After you finish eating, Eddie drives the three of you home.
You do your Sunday tasks as you always do. You’re folding your laundry when the house phone rings and you get up to answer it.
“Hello?,” You ask.
“Hey Y/N, its Wayne. I was just calling to see if you three were still coming over for dinner tonight?,” Wayne asks over the phone.
“Yeah Wayne we are. 5 still a good time?,” You respond.
“Sounds good honey, what did you want for dinner tonight?,” He asks you.
“How about we stop by and grab some pizza on our way over tonight? You either bought or made us dinner the last couple of weeks,” You respond.
“Alright if you insist,” Wayne chuckles.
“Pizza it is,” You respond.
“I’ll see you three later. Give Halle all my love,” He says.
“Will do, see ya later. Bye,” You respond hanging up.
“Who was that?,” Eddie asks.
“Wayne. We’re bringing pizza over for dinner tonight at 5,” You say looking at him.
“Grandpa?,” Halle asks excitedly.
“Yeah and I almost forgot, he told me to give you something,” You say crouching down to be on her level.
“What?,” She asks with a smile. You wrap her up in your arms and press kisses to her cheeks and she laughs gleefully. You pull away and look at her.
“He told me to give you all his love,” you say looking at Halle.
“What am I? Chopped liver? He didn’t want to split his love with me?,” Eddie asks dramatically and laughs.
“Hey, I’m just following his orders,” You shrug your shoulders at Eddie.
“I will so be bringing this up to him tonight,” Eddie says jokingly. You finish up your weekly chores and before you know it, you’re heading out the door to go to Waynes house. You drive the three of you there and stop to grab some pizza along the way. You arrive at Wayne’s and Halle runs in as fast as she can.
“Grandpa!! I got your love from Y/N!,” She says as she hugs Waynes legs.
“Did you? I’m so happy,” Wayne says and hugs the girl back. She runs and plops down on his living room floor and starts playing with a few of her toys that stay here.
“Yeah, what’s with you giving all your love to Halle and not splitting it with me?,” Eddie jokes as he hugs Wayne.
“Wouldn’t you just love an excuse to have a pretty girl kiss you,” Wayne says quietly to Eddie and pulls away from the hug to see Eddie’s face flush. You walk in the door with the pizza in your hands.
“Hey honey how are you?,” Wayne asks, setting the pizza on the counter and bringing you into a hug.
“Hey Wayne. I’ve been good! How have you been?,” You ask.
“I’ve been good honey thanks for asking,” He responds. The four of you sit and start eating pizza together.
“Y/N, are you still seeing that young man you told me about?,” Wayne asks you.
“Oh no, not anymore. I just figured it would be better if I stay single and focus on myself for a while,” You respond taking a bite of your pizza.
“Atta girl. You’re young and you’ll have plenty of time to find someone,” Wayne says. He shoot’s a side look over to Eddie. He, too, has recently being teasing his nephew about having feelings for you. Eddie shoots a look back to Wayne and continues eating his pizza. You all spend the evening with Wayne and finally head home when its around Halle’s bedtime. You arrive back at your apartment and help get Halle ready for bed. She insists that you cuddle with her for a little bit first. You oblige happily and think back to when she asked if you were her mommy this morning and you desperately wished you would have been able to tell her yes as she fell asleep in your arms. You make your way to your own bed and lay down for the night thinking of the good weekend you had and how you wish it didn’t have to end.
part 2 I part 4
Tumblr media
Your first performance after the incident went perfectly. The audience loved your performance, and you got long and loud cheers after the show. You instantly relaxed after the first song started and the rest went on like flying. You also got praise from your boss or let’s call him by his name Jack, and Cherry – who was upset that Han didn’t give her the attention she wanted. She didn’t admit it, but you knew that’s how she felt. After you sat down into your own seat, you texted Han to come to the dressing room in 10 minutes. He had randomly walked to your room last Tuesday to give you, his number. When leaving your room, he waved his hand in a phone sign next his ear, then mouthing ‘call me’ and winking.
As you looked yourself in the mirror, you opened your hair. Taking all the pins off and letting your long hair fall down. You rubbed your head as it was hurting from keeping all that hair up. I did well, it all went well, you thought and sighed. The anxiety that had been crawling in your stomach had finally gone away and you felt relief.
You opened the strings of your corset and let it fall to the floor and you did same with the dress. From your purse you picked black leggings and a long t-shirt. As much as you liked to be dressed up nicely, there was nothing comfier than changing into some home clothes. You brushed your hair and weighted the options whether to take your make up off now or back at the house.
There was a knock on the door which meant you would be taking the makeup off later as you expected Han to be behind the door. You smiled widely and hopped to open the door.
“You’re back- “you cut off as you saw a tall, muscular man standing in front of you. His dark eyes landed on yours and he smirked once he saw you. You took your eyes off his and your attention briefly shifted to the badge he had on his shoulder. It couldn’t be seen clearly but it looked like snake. That looks familiar. Your thoughts were stopped as the man lifted your chin for you to look at him. You breathing felt like it stopped, and you froze. Your stomach twirled around as his disgusting smirk grew wider. He eyed your body slowly like was taking in all your curves and outline of your figure.
“Jack never told me was hiding such a gem in here.” he said with a low voice, looking into your eyes as his hand slowly wandered down your arm. His touch sent shivers down your spine, and you quickly took a step back, wanting to close the door on his face as he tried to grab you again.
“Don’t touch me” you hissed.
“Don’t get feisty kitten” his eyes darkened.
“What do you want?”
The man didn’t answer but took a step closer, and you gulped. There was something dark and scary about his presence that made you feel nauseous. It’s like you could sense that his intentions were not innocent.
You heard someone clear their throat behind him and you peeked to see Han standing there, looking at the other man’s back sharply. The man turned halfway to look at Han and then shifted his eyes back on you. “Oh, I see” he only said smiling wickedly before walking out, bumping his shoulder onto Han’s while walking past him.  Han watched him disappear from the hall and mocked the man’s words and flipped him off with both of his hands. His goofiness made you smile widely and feel more at ease.
“You know who that was?” Han looked at you, pointing at the direction the man walked. You shrugged, “I have no idea. He knocked on the door and I thought it was you”
“We better make up our signature knock then. But not too complicated otherwise I will forget it, then do it wrong and bang! You hit me with a chair” he acted getting hit by something and tumbled back while holding his forehead.
You laughed and shook your head. Han was a total clown but you kind of liked that. Considering the lifestyle he had, it was nice to see it hadn’t changed him. You turned back to the dressing room and hopped to get your stuff. You stuffed your performing clothes into your purse, swung it over your shoulder and took your walking sticks that were leaning on one of the chairs.
Once you made your way to the car, Han helped you inside like always before sitting on the driver’s side.
“I would not mind coming along more often. I had fun” Han said and left the parking space.
“Yeah? Did Cherry tell you her funny stories?”
“Cherry? Oh, right that pink haired girl you were so jealous of because I kissed her hand” Han smirked.
You looked at him with wide eyes. Was I that see through? “I wasn’t jealous!”
“But you were”
“I was not!”
“We can keep arguing about this all night. Did you feel bad because I didn’t kiss your hand?” Han said in a baby voice and pouted while looking at you.
“Oh, shut up!” you said and tried to hide your burning red cheeks from him by looking at the window. Han laughed at your reaction because he knew he was right, and you hated that he was right. Perhaps it was that you had been around him almost 24/7 for the past week or that he kept playfully flirting with you, that had made you crush on him a little. He was always making you laugh and making sure you were all right. That was his personality trait – to always be funny and caring. You knew that there could never anything between you two because of how he lived and oh yeah, he would have to like you too.
You would spend two weeks like this – Han would take you to your shows and spend the time sitting at the bar or even in the audience, eyeing you the whole time. Somedays he took Hyunjin and Changbin with him to keep him company, though only Hyunjin consented to it. Changbin had to be forced to come as otherwise he would spend his whole day at the house. Cherry and Lucky were all over the heels for the men, clinging onto Changbin’s muscular arms and admiring Hyunjin’s beautiful looks.
“Where do you find these unbelievably hot men?” Cherry asked gasping the first time Han brought the others with him. “You look like you have your own security team” Lucky laughed slightly as you came to the club with the men walking behind you. “Stop it. They are just my friends who wanted to come see the show” you said hitting both girls on their shoulders. They looked each other while rolling their eyes mockingly. It was true it might look weird that you never came alone anymore. You couldn’t just say that your half-brother was a mafia boss and didn’t let you anywhere alone anymore.
You were sitting in a booth with all of them. Someone could have thought that you were on a triple date since all you three girls had men besides you. Your show was over ages ago, but you had to wait Jack to tell you three what your schedules would be for the next two weeks.
“I could easily go and dance as one of you and no one would notice the change” Hyunjin said proudly whilst pointing at the stage.
Lucky, your other burlesque friend, who was sitting next to him laughed, “You mean you would look like just like a woman?”
“No” Hyunjin sneered at her, “I mean my performance would be so elegant and beautiful”
“How about I bring you a tutu and you can go do some dancing?” Changbin joked and made you all almost choke with laughter, even Hyunjin though he really was sure he would nail it.
“What do you two do for living by the way?” Cherry asked before taking a sip of her margarita, looking towards Hyunjin and Changbin. They looked at each other shortly, knowing that they had to figure out a lie.
“You don’t care what I do?” Han playfully raised his eyebrow at her, placing a hand on his chest to act hurt. It started to become his signature move when adding drama to his response.
“I’d imagine you don’t work since you are always here with y/n”
Han scoffed and acted even more offended, looking at Cherry, like she just told him she had crashed his car and then spat on it.
“I’m a driver. I race” Changbin answered casually, obviously not saying what it actually meant. Hyunjin nodded, “yeah me too”.
“Is that even a real job?” Lucky dumbfoundingly asked with a bit laughter in her voice. Not taking the men’s profession seriously. That started a loud arguing with the four, Changbin and Hyunjin trying to prove that it was real work and then making the mistake of asking if Burlesque was a real profession. Hell was loose as Cherry and Lucky started to spat at them.
”Do you know if Chan’s going to be at house tomorrow?” you whispered, leaning closer to Han so he would hear. The others were so deep in their arguing that they wouldn’t have realized if someone was pointing a gun at them. Han hadn’t noticed that you moved closer and turned his head towards you, your faces only a few inches from each other. You stared at each other in surprise but neither of you moved away. As you gazed to each other’s eyes, you felt butterflies in your stomach. You had never been this close to his face that you almost felt his breath on your face, his cologne filling up your nostrils. Han stared at you back also not breaking eye contact. His eyes swiftly looked at your lips and then back at your eyes. It was so quick you almost didn’t see it.
” y/n, your boss is asking you” Hyunjin interrupted, leaning over the table and clicking his fingers in front of your faces. How long did we stare at each other?
” Yeah, right” you said awkwardly and cleaned your throat. You smiled at Han slightly embarrassed before following the girls who were waiting you next to the stage, both wondering what took you so long. You didn’t say anything but just motioned for you three to move to the dressing room where your boss, Jack would be waiting with the lists.
” Alright here you go” Jack said while giving out the lists. It had all of your performance’s but there was a fourth name added to the list.
” Who’s Coco?” you three asked simultaneously, lifting your gaze to Jack who was smiling, most likely waiting for you to ask. He was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed on his chest.” She’s your new dance sister. She’s coming next week. Some younger blood is needed here”
You, Cherry and lucky looked at each other. It’s not like you three owned the club but it had been just you three for the past four years. It was weird to learn that another woman would start in there too, perhaps a hint of jealousy washed over you. It was usually the new ones who stole the show, leaving the others in their shadow.
” Oh, don’t worry girls. She won’t outshine you” Jack smirked, responding to your reaction and walked away from the dressing room. But his words didn’t sound reassuring at all.
” With younger blood, does he mean that she is going to be even younger that you?” Cherry asked with confusion in her voice, pointing at you. You had been the youngest for now, guess you were becoming too old for that role.
“I’m sure of it”
“Why did he have to make it like she is going to be our competitor?” Lucky asked confused, putting her hand on her waist and standing with an attitude. You shrugged thought you knew the reason. Jack wanted you four to perform like it was a war going on between you. He wanted to see cat fights behind the stage that would turn into fury and passion on the stage. And that would attract more men to watch as we would strive to prove who was the most skilled and loved among the audience. It was an appalling tactic.
The car’s wipers were on max speed as rain was pouring down while you were driving back to the House. You were sitting on the back seat with Hyunjin while Changbin and Han sat in the front, driving his Ferrari down the road. After your talk with girls, you came back to the guys and Han answered to your earlier question:  Chan was going to be in the Strays’ house tonight. Now you could talk with him about your situation and maybe ask the question you had been keeping on your tongue since you saw him. Why did he leave you?
“Since you’re going to talk with Chan today” Changbin cut the silence and turned to look at you over his shoulder, “Don’t make him angry. I need go make a gun deal with him tomorrow and for the love of god I don’t need him acting like a bomb about to explode”. You couldn’t figure out whether his voice had a hint of joking or not, his face said otherwise.
“Yeah in case you don’t know, Chan can be quite hot-headed when angry” Han spoke, looking sharing a brief eye contact with you through the rear mirror before fixating his eyes on the road again.
“Well, in case you have forgotten, I haven’t been able to really get to know him” you stated sarcastically at Han.
“Then take our advice to heart” Hyunjin answered without looking at you, his gaze staying on the window.
The car ride felt like it lasted forever. You didn’t figure out anything to talk about and neither did the guys. You just sat in silence. Your stomach had a sting in it as thinking about talking to Chan made you nervous. How would you engage him to the conversation? And how you should phrase the things you wanted to ask?
Finally, you didn’t need to wonder about it anymore as you arrived at the house and Han parked the car to the garage. You hopped out and picked the walking sticks from the car’s floor. With determination lingering on your mind, you decided to make your way straight to Chan’s office where he most likely would be.
“Good luck” Han winked as he went past you to his own room. Yeah thanks, I need it.
You didn’t knock but opened the door to his office and there he sat; a stern expression etched on his face. You took a deep breath and approached him, standing before his office table.
"Chan," you almost whispered, voice getting stuck in your throat. "We should talk"
Chan lifted his face from the papers he had on the table, annoyance once again filtering his face. “What is it?” he murmured before lowering his head back to the papers, clearly not in the mood for chitchatting. You almost wanted to give in right at the start, but this conversation had to be done.
“Why did you leave back then?” you asked, trying to steady your voice before it could tremble.
“I just had to. It’s none of your business” he snapped, still not looking at you.
"Why are you so angry with me all the time?", your voice mixed with impatience and curiosity. "It's not like I have done anything bad to you”
Chan stayed quiet, flicking through the thick paper bundles. He was likely waiting for you to give up and just leave, but you stood still eyes burning on his head like you were trying to lift his head telepathically to look at you. Eventually he sighed and let go of the bundle.
“My father was the one sitting on this chair before. I was to follow his steps as a leader. I was cursed to that future since the day I was born. When you started getting older and closer to me, I had to leave to keep you safe” Chen spoke surprisingly softly and finally looked at you in the eyes. His expression mixed with multiple emotions, like he didn’t know how to feel about it.
“But why the anger?”
“I failed. I promised myself to never let you close to this life and still here you are”. You could sense the disappointment and regret in him, “And I can’t let myself to get close to you. It’s too dangerous”
“It’s dangerous to be close to your own sister?” you raised your voice. Desperation and sadness burning in your throat.
"You don't get it, do you?" he growled. "You're in my world now, a world I never wanted you to see. It's a life that destroys everything it touches and showing your feelings can be used against you” His eyes flashed with a mix of anger and pain.
Your eyes searched his, desperate to understand his words. He was right that it was a nasty world but you were already part of it. You had started to like living in the house and wanted to get closer with Chan again. You were cared for in there the way you never had been. Ever since your mother’s death you had been alone, Burlesque being your only comfort.
“Yeah well I don’t care if it’s dangerous. Since I found you again, I’m not going anywhere” you said sternly. You had made up your mind about this in the past weeks.
"I can't let you get involved in this, y/n. It's not safe for you here."
“I admire you wanting to keep me safe, but I could be in as much danger living on my own as living in here. Since your rivals have seen my face, aren’t I safer in here?”
Chan sighed once again, moving his eyes from you elsewhere,” You’re not a part of this world, y/n. You can't just waltz in and expect to change things. It's not a fairy tale, it's a nightmare, and once you're in, there's no getting out. You can be here until you are well but then I need you to part yourself from this. I can have someone keep eye on you. You would be safe and out of this life”
You were getting impatient with his arguing and felt that he would not budge from his opinion. As you were trying to continue your reasoning, his phone rang and he glared at you, his eyes demanding you to leave room. Reluctantly, you left. You slammed the door shut behind you. You didn't get the answers you were waiting for but at least you got him to have an actual conversation with you.
"I guess it didn’t go well?" Han’s voice suddenly asked.
"Fuck, how long have you been standing there?" you jumped a little and turned to him. He was leaning against the wall, smirking at you. "Long enough”
"Were you eavesdropping?" You narrowed your eyes at him, your voice a mix of annoyance and frustration that stayed with you from the talk with Chan.
Han held his hands up in a placating gesture. "Just looking out for you. I know how he gets." His tone was light, his sarcasm could be heard a mile away.
"Yeah right, you just got curious" you accused Han, though the corner of your mouth twitched upwards slightly.
Han shrugged nonchalantly, his eyes twinkling. "Maybe. But I actually came to check if you needed help with the stairs"
You scoffed, feeling a bit of warmth spread in your chest. "You know I am more than capable of going up them now?"
"Yeah, but I like having you in my arms." Han grinned, his arms already reaching out to support you.
Surprised, you found yourself without words. Your cheeks warmed as his arms found their way on your waist ang legs, lifting you up. His arms felt strong beneath you. Your heart was racing and wondered whether he was joking or not.
"I've told you before, I can handle the stairs," you protested, trying to keep your voice steady. Though the truth was, the stairs were one hell of a mission to climb each time. The cast made it hard to put any pressure on the leg and the marble made each step feel like stepping on ice.
"I know you can," Han said, his voice soothing, "but I have seen you struggle going up and why struggle when you don't have to?" His eyes finding yours.
You rolled your eyes, trying to hide the smile that was tugging at your lips. You had grown accustomed to his help, to the gentle way he'd pick you up and carry you made your heart go insane. It was a strange sort of intimacy that had developed between you. Thought usually Han ruined the moment with his sarcastic sayings.
"Besides, Lee Know said that your cast can be taken off tomorrow. Enjoy my service while you can"
You playfully swatted at him, but the gesture was half-hearted at best. The reality was you were grateful for his help.
-
Your performance had ended, once again nailing the show despite having your leg still in the cast. Tonight, Lee Know could finally take it off.
Diamonds on your cheeks had given your show the bling it needed. You hopped in the dimly lit corridor and turned to the dressing room. Cherry and Lucky were gossiping as always. Cherry looked up as you entered, her smile as warm and welcoming, "The new girl Coco is coming" she said in a hushed tone in case she was already at the corridor behind you.
You raised your eyebrow "It was today?". Before you could discuss further, Jack burst into the room, a cloud of cigar smoke trailing behind him. "Ladies, meet Coco!" He announced, a wide grin stretching across his face as he presented the new dancer. Coco strutted in, her blonde hair cascading down her back. She looked young like Jack had said.
Coco's yes scanned the room, taking in every detail with as if she had already found them lacking to her liking, Coco's costume was screaming easy to have. Her tiny shorts covered only half of her ass and the crop top not leaving any questions whether she had boobs or not.
The tension in the room grew thick, a silent challenge hanging in the air as you all watched at the newbie. "Welcome to the Marionette". You finally said, extending a hand with forced politeness. Coco's grip was firm, her manicured nails digging into your palm.
Coco looked at you three over, her gaze lingering on you for a moment too long. "I've heard a lot about this place," she purred, her voice as smooth as velvet. "I can't wait to show everyone what I can do."
Cherry's smile remained in place, but her eyes narrowed slightly. She had seen this kind before: young, pretty, and full of herself, thinking she could just come in and steal the spotlight. Cherry had been in the Marionette for the longest and seen all kinds of performers.
Jack cleared his throat, "Now, now, girls," he chuckled, "no need for the cold shoulders. We're all on the same team here." He clapped his hands together, the sound echoing off the walls of the small space. "We're going to put on the best show this town has ever seen!"
Coco's smile grew, a glint of something sharp in her gaze as she turned to face him. "Oh, I have no doubt about that," she said sweetly,” But you've got to remember, Jack, I don't share the spotlight."
You felt a rush of annoyance but kept your cool. "We're all stars here"
Coco's laugh tinkled through the room, "Darling, you're sweet," she said, patting your cheek, making your attitude towards her worse. "But some stars shine brighter than others."
The room fell silent, the air thick with the unspoken tension. You felt a heat rising in your chest as you watched her and Jack disappear back to the corridor.
"What a piece of work," Cherry murmured, her voice low and tight. "She's going to be trouble."
Lucky rolled her eyes. "Jack and his new toy" she said, applying a fresh coat of lipstick. "Hopefully she doesn't last long"
Cherry fiddled with the feathers on her dress, "There's something about her thought"
You snorted. "You mean other than the fact she thinks she's the queen bee already?"
Cherry shook her head. "Did you see the way she moves? It's like she's got a secret she's just dying to tell."
Lucky leaned in closer, curiosity piqued. "A secret, huh? Maybe she's got a huge dildo up her ass". You all laughed at Lucky's remark. Coco seemed to be full of herself.
"She acts like she's got the world in the palm of her hand." Cherry added.
Y/n couldn't argue with that. Coco's confidence was palpable, a force that seemed to push the very air around her into submission. "We'll have to keep an eye on her," Lucky said.
The three of you nodded in silent agreement before Cherry and Lucky continued with their gossiping.  As you left the dressing room and made your way to the booths, you noticed Coco. The new dancer was leaning against one of the booth's deep in conversation with Han, His dark eyes were focused intently on Coco, a smile playing at the corners of his lips.
You felt a huge spike in your heart rate, fury flashing over you at the sight. You forced yourself to walk over with a smile on your lips. You cleared her throat, hoping to interrupt their conversation. Han looked up, his smile widening as he saw you "Ah, Y/n," he said, turning slightly more towards you. "Your new friend came to introduce herself"
Coco's gaze flicked to you surprise flitting across her features for a brief moment. "You two know each other?" she asked, her tone faintly accusatory.
Han chuckled, a warm sound that made your heart flutter despite the situation. "Of course," he said, winking at her with his unspeakable charm. "Y/n's this club's best performer!"
"We'll see about that," Coco said with a smirk, her voice dripping with challenge.
With a dismissive flick of her hair, Coco threw a kiss towards Han before sauntering away, leaving you biting your lip in annoyance. You watched Coco's hips sway as she disappeared into the shadows of the backstage. Your hand balled into a fist, nails digging into your palm.
"You don't seem to like her" Han raised his eyebrow at you.
You nodded, "She's got a real attitude problem," your voice tight with irritation. It's not like you owned Han and you weren't even together but seeing Coco flirting with him and Han smiling at her made your blood boil. "She already acts like she owns the place"
“But she doesn't. I meant what I said. You're the best performer in here" Han said smiling at you and it made you have butterflies in your stomach again. You looked back at his eyes and smiled back.
"Thanks. I just hope she doesn't stir trouble"
"I would watch the cat fight. Sexy, mhm?" He winked playfully and a smirk formed on his lips once again. You flicked his forehead, "In your wildest dreams”.
we all look for heaven,
and we put love first.
something that we'd die for,
it's a curse
“ah, nami-san, vivi-chan, we found you!”
sanji turned into a completely different man, flapping his hands at his sides as he caught the sight of the two women.
but to [name]’s surprise, they were greeteed by glares from usopp and carue. they were even shaking in anger, it seemed.
“i wonder why they're looking at us like that…” [name] said to himself.
sanji’s cheery tone turned into one of anger when he caught sight of the two giants sitting behind the group.
“wow! you guys are humongous!” [name] cried out, rushing forward and pointing at the giants in awe. sanji, who also ran up with him, was seething with anger and annoyance.
[name] was jumping around, luffy joining, and the duo began cheering about how cool it was that there were real giants right in front of them. nami shook her head, “idiots, the both of them,”
[name] looked at her with a carefree smile on his face, but his expression soon dropped as he realized that she wasn’t wearing a shirt.
“oi, nami,” he spoke up and she looked at him with an unimpressed look on her face. her hands were resting at her hips as she waited for what he had to say. “hold on!” he threw off the sword from his back and took off his second layer, a simple button up.
“what the fuck is wrong with you?!” nami shouted, greatly confused by his mannerisms. but then her look of anger was washed away when he threw the shirt at her.
“you’re gonna catch a cold!” he reminded her, motioning for her to put it on to cover up.
she did as he suggested, only really caring for her health and not thinking twice about it. and neither did [name], who went back to jumping back and forth with luffy, chanting their song on the giants.
“what in the hell?! are you mr. 3?” sanji shouted in an accusatory voice to the giant.
“how do you know about mr. 3?” nami asked, making sanji turn his head towards her.
“oh, me and [name]-” then he noticed the shirt that she was wearing and how [name] was currently missing his second layer, “oi!!! shit for brains, what’s the meaning of this?! you tryna make a pass at nami while i’m not looking?! think i wouldn’t catch you being a sneak!?”
nami’s eyebrow quirked up in annoyance, saving [name] from explaining himself as she shouted at sanji to answer her original question. sanji’s facial expression morphed back to one of normalness as he took a seat on a log, “me and [name] just finished talking with mr. 0 via den-den mushi,”
vivi seemed to shake in fear at the idea of the two talking to her boss while luffy paused his celebrations to actually hear what sanji had to say.
“yep! a weird wax box was in the middle of the forest and there was a transponder snail in there,” [name] explained, pointing at sanji. “sanji did all the talking!”
sanji tried to slap the hand that was rudely pointing at his face, but [name] reacted faster and put it down before sanji was even close, making him grin in victory. the blonde’s eye twitched very slightly, before he continued on telling the story.
“he seemed to think i was mr. 3, so i told him that i eliminated everyone,”
“so that means he thinks we’re actually dead?” vivi confirmed.
“so we’re finally free of people chasing us, but we can’t go anywhere!” usopp cried out, [name] looking at him as if he were stupid.
“can’t go anywhere? do we still have bus-”
“me and sanji picked up an eternal pose in that wax house, vivi, we can go straight to alabasta!” [name] cut him off, making the blonde turn to him in fury.
sanji began yelling profanities at [name], claiming he wanted to take all the spotlight of vivi’s gratefulness for himself and was calling [name] a selfish bastard. his anger only seemed to be fueled even more when he saw vivi go over to [name] and give him a tight hug.
“oi, you bastard, i’ll kill you!”
“thank you so much, sanji-kun, [name]-san!” vivi said, still having her head resting on [name]’s shoulder, “i was so worried for a second,”
“our pleasure!” [name] said, returning the gesture and holding the princess by her waist.
“you mean, my pleasure, you selfish bastard, since i'm the one who did all the work!” sanji interjected, but then his eyes turned into hearts as vivi came over to him to also give him a hug. “oh, vivi-chan, i’m glad i could make you so happy,”
“alright, everyone, let’s have a rice cracker party,” luffy cheered, but [name] shook his head.
“luffy! a whole country is waiting for their princess, we gotta go now!” [name] said sternly, making luffy pout.
“you’re no fun!” the captain whined, grabbing ahold of another rice cracker and eating it whole.
“finally, someone else with a sense of urgency on this crew,” nami said in relief. “you and sanji really saved us, [name], thanks!”
[name] waved off her thanks, glad to be on somewhat good terms with the rest of the crew. he wished he was there for the supposed fight, to really prove himself loyal to the crew and that he had good intentions, but it seemed breaking into a wax house was more than reliable.
“oi, idiot,” [name]’s head whipped around in a moment’s notice at the name calling, “i can’t wait to see the look on your face when you see i won the competition,” zoro’s look of pride seemed to make [name]’s own competitive spirit bubble up.
“ha?! you wish, marimo,” [name] said, pulling the bottom of his eyelid down in mockery.
“what’s the stakes for whoever won?” sanji asked.
as they were walking through the forest, [name] suddenly put his fist against his open palm, “ah, wait, now that i think about it - when me and sanji went back to the ship, we ate some of the food we caught. oh! dinosaur meat is soooo tasty, by the way! but in order to preserve whatever we had, i cut them up into small pieces and stowed them away on the ship…so i don’t think we can decide who the winner is anymore guys!”
[name] began laughing at the predicament, but sanji and zoro didn’t look amused in the slightest.
“just what were you thinking, shit for brains?!”
“you bastard! you’ve ruined everything!”
“hey! don’t blame me for your stupid pissing contest!”
“you were apart of it too, you just wanted to win!” sanji accused.
“no, i just wanted to eat!” [name] defended, turning his head away from their snarling faces and walking with his arms crossed over his chest, “you guys are totally unreasonable!”
“shut the hell up, you ruined it!” zoro tried cutting [name] in half, but the latter dodged the slash with ease, as well as the flurry of kicks sanji sent towards his head.
the whole walk back, [name] was evading attacks from the swordsman and chef, who were still very bitter about the whole thing by the time they boarded the ship.
when the ship was finally put into motion, [name] jumped on the deck as he saw the two giants up ahead.
“look, what’s their names again? borry and duggy?!” he said in excitement.
“it’s dorry and brogy! put respect on their name they’re the best warriers to ever sail the sea!” usopp shamed [name] while also praising the two giants.
“since you worked so hard to protect our pride!” one of them shouted.
“we will do our best to open up the path for you going forward!” the other finished.
“go straight ahead!” the two shouted together, making the crew turn quick to confusion.
[name] squinted his eyes, jaw dropping while stars formed in his eyes.
“no way! you guys are serious?!” he asked out loud, making the two giants laugh their heads off.
“huh? what are you talking about? what’s so funny?! what are they serious about?!” nami asked, seemingly scared at the sudden change of pace of things. “oi! [name], explain yourself!”
“haha! no!” [name] said, evading the attack from the navigator.
just as the going merry was in the open sea, something erupted from the ocean.
a good portion of the crew was looking up at it in fear or just shock. luffy had a grin on his face as he saw the, “giant goldish!”
“i wanna eat it!” [name] cried, earning himself a kick to the head from sanji.
“quick, turn the rudder usopp, we can’t be eaten by this thing,” nami shouted, looking uneasy as their sniper wasn’t doing anything in response to her command. “usopp!”
“no, we can’t. we have to full straight ahead! isn’t that right, luffy?”
“yeah, of course!” luffy confirmed.
nami felt like she was going insane. then she ran up to [name] and began shaking him back and forth, “go on! kill it! kill it before it eats us!” she commanded, looking to zoro and sanji for help as well. “aren't you worth 200,000,000 beri!? this'll be a piece of cake!! [name], go already!!”
“but, they got it!” [name] frowned motioning over to the two giants.
“yeah, nami, calm down! here, i’ll let you have the last rice cracker!”
“i don’t want it!” nami said, but she caught the snack regardless. she took refuge behind [name], peaking over his shoulder as she was scared to look if they were really going to let hemselves be eaten by a goldfish.
“look! we’re inside!” [name] said, shouting a couple of times in amusement and enjoying the sound of the echo that it produced inside the fish’s throat.
“it’s too late,” nami was about to fall to the ground in disbelief, but [name] quickly held onto her to prevent her from crashing down.
“oi, nami…” [name] mumbled to himself, lifting the hem of her (his) shirt with the tip of his fingers and feeling the temperature of her skin. she looked at him in confusion, but before he could even continue what he was saying, they were being launched into the air.
out of nowhere, there was a sudden gust of power that made the fish spit them out.
they were soon outside of the fish’s mouth and blasting out onto sea. [name] made sure to keep a tight hold on nami. he didn’t think much of her lax stance, thinking it was just the sudden rush the boat got that had her standing all wobbly.
he leaned them against the mast, watching as nami slowly slid down and began to sit. he followed her motions, now kneeling in front of her. in confusion, he tilted his head, “oi, nami, are you okay?”
“i’m…fine,” the ragged breath she took in between was enough of a ways to tell that she was lying. “i’m just exhausted after everything that’s happened,” at this point, vivi walked over and crouched down as well, “vivi, would you mind watching this for me for a moment…i might go lay down to rest up,”
[name] frowned, sensing that there was something wrong with nami.
“there’s no need for either of you - not including you, shit for brains - to push yourselves so hard! you can rely on me!” sanji said, appearing with a tray full of goodies. noticing that they were all sweets, [name] looked the other way in disinterest of the snacks.
usopp, luffy, and carue were eager to have some though as they ran towards the kitchen.
“you don’t want any, [name]?” vivi asked as she grabbed her own piece.
“nope, but do we have coffee beans on deck, sanji?” [name] asked, looking at the chef with sparkles in his eyes.
“only a little bit, nami-san drinks some, but we might be running low.”
“oh! i’ll take those then!”
the three watched as [name] also took off to the kitchen, all of them sweatdropping.
“is he going to eat coffee beans?” vivi asked in concern, but sanji simply shook his head.
“as i said before, vivi-chan, don’t concern yourself with the problems of idiots,” he said sweetly, pushing the tray forward to urge her to grab more sweets.
when [name] walked into the kitchen, he saw the trio were absolutely devouring their own plate of goodies. luffy had his cheeks full like a rabbit and carue and usopp were trying to get their fix.
“ah, [name]! good thing you joined us, here try some!” before [name] could correct usopp, the sniper came barreling towards him and shoved the sweet into his mouth.
luffy’s face changed from a smile to an angered expression almost immediately. whilst [name] had the sweet shoved in his mouth, he tried really hard not to notice it.
the sweet pastry’s frosting was melting on his tongue already, seeping onto his tastebuds. he shoved usopp back, spitting out the pastry before it could do more damage and his whole body was shaking as he tried not to vomit onto the wooden planks of the flooring.
‘don’t think about it, it’s not there, don’t think about!’ [name] mentally urged himself, clamping a hand over his mouth to stop the bile from escaping. ‘no, no, no!’
he clamored around the kitchen, desperately looking for where the coffee beans were. meanwhile luffy was shaking usopp’s collar back and forth, shouting at him.
“why’d you do that?! usopp!” luffy shouted in fury. poor usopp was too confused to even think straight, simply sputtering out random noises to justify his actions.
finally, after fighting back the urge to vomit for longer than he was confident in, [name] was able to find a brown bag that was for the coffee beans. he shoved his other hand inside, as the other was still cautiously holding his mouth shut, and immediately shoved a handful down his throat.
“[name]! are you okay?!” luffy asked, clamoring over almost immediately.
the man chewed slowly, really trying to take in the taste of the coffee beans and very slowly swallowed them. after that, he took another handful into his mouth, and repeated the same process. after he was finished chewing and eating them, he turned to luffy with an exhausted look on his face.
“i’m fine,” he said simply, throwing a thumbs up as a precaution.
“h-hey, what was that? [name], are you sure you’re fine?” usopp asked, walking up to [name] in fear, “what happened? what was that?”
“i just…” [name] swallowed harshly, sticking his tongue out of his mouth in disgust as he remembered the pastry that was in his mouth, “i hate sweets.”
usopp blinked a couple of times, scratching the back of his head, “i’m really sorry, then, i didn’t know!!!”
[name] tried to smile, but it was completely lobsided, “no, it’s alright! you couldn’t have known, don’t worry!” but with the way [name]’s breathing was still ragged and he hadn’t completely caught his breath, yet, usopp was still majorly concerned.
“and luffy!!! you can’t just go around yelling at usopp for something he didn’t mean to do,” [name] scolded, tossing one single coffee bean into his mouth and savoring the taste before continuing on again. “he didn’t know,”
“ah, you’re right,” luffy said in a matter-a-fact tone, a blank look on his face, “oops!”
“don’t just say oops - i was scared for my life just now!” usopp berated, not looking impressed at his captain’s lack of discipline.
“oi! someone explain why my kitchen is a complete shit show?!” sanji shouted, the sight of a spat out pastry fueling his anger, “who the fuck did this?!”
“me!” [name] said, raising his hand.
“hah?! first you wanna raid nami-san’s coffee beans and then you spit out the food i made for everyone! i’ll throw you overboard right now!” sanji said, stomping forward in an obvious fury before usopp stepped in between the two.
“n-no it was my fault!”
“that bastard right there just took responsibility, usopp, move aside. i’ll teach him a lesson!”
“that’s not neccessary-”
“thanks for sticking up for me, usopp, but,” [name] gently moved usopp aside to meet sanji, eye-to-eye, “it’s my fault. i don’t like sweets so i spat it out when he fed it to me, i’ll clean it up now.”
“so you don’t like something so you just spit it out?! how ungrateful and disrespectful are you?! i made that food for others to eat, if you don’t like it, don’t just spit it out on the ground! have some manners, shit for brains!” sanji berated and [name] didn’t bother fighting him more on his opinion.
it seemed sanji was a real heckler about wasting food, [name] noted, looking at the spat out pastry on the floor.
“i’ll clean it now,” that was [name]’s only response as he moved past sanji and grabbed paper towels and a spray bottle.
“i want that area sparkling clean!” sanji commanded, and his loud shouts, snapped usopp out of his state of shock.
“hey, sanji, go easy on him — it was a really bad reaction, give him a break,” the sniper tried reasoning, but sanji wasn’t hearing any of it.
and as [name] was just about done cleaning the area, there was a shrill scream that made everyone in the kitchen perk up.
“everyone please come - something bad has happened!”
“nami-san has a terrible fever!” vivi broke the news to the group as they came shuffling out of the kitchen, sanji rushing forward the moment nami’s name left vivi’s lips.
[name] was chewing on a coffee bean as he moved luffy and usopp aside to get a good look at nami. her face was paling completely, making her rosy cheeks stand out more. he leaned forward in concern before taking her into his arms, bridal style, and looking at luffy, “do you have a medical bay?”
“hey, hey! get your dirty hands off of her!” sanji shouted, displeasure ringing in the air.
“well, we have nami’s work station, there’s a bed there,” usopp answered for their captain, who was still confused on the situation. “i-i’ll lead the way,”
[name] nodded, following after his crewmate and holding nami with a gentle grip, as if she were a fragile piece of glass.
as he laid her down on the bed, it seemed him and vivi were the only ones with half a brain of what to do. as vivi was running to get a bowl of water and cloth, [name] made sure nami was resting in a comfortable position. he put the thermometer gently into her mouth, fingers working delicately gentle to aid her.
“it’s probably the climate,” vivi reasoned when she came back with a wet towel. her eyebrows were furrowed together in extreme worry, “there are countless stories of tough pirates that are taken down by their own carelessness.
sanji was ugly crying behind the working duo, letting out a weaping and pathetic, “nami-san!”
“don’t you guys have a doctor?” [name] asked, looking at his captain, who merely lifted his hand and pointed at nami in response. [name] looked completely unimpressed, “well! obviously she can’t treat herself!”
luffy confused with all the yelling and hassle only shrugged his shoulders, “what’s the big deal? give her some food and she will get better! isn’t right, sanji?”
[name]’s eyebrow twitched in annoyance, wondering how the crew actually was still standing on their feet.
“i can make basic food meant for sick people, but-” then sanji went onto a whole rant about the preparation of their food, his favoritism for the woman showing through in his cooking as well, and how he didn’t know how to cater to the needs of sick people’s stomachs.
“well, food isn’t the only thing that’s gonna make her get better,” [name] said with a sigh. “we need a proper doctor who can treat nami, this is serious guys,”
“how serious?” luffy asked curiously.
[name] took the themometer out from nami’s mouth, eyes widening slightly, along with vivi’s as they saw the sky high number.
“104! (40C)!” he exclaimed, but the crew didn’t seem to completely understand the urgency.
“there’ll be doctors when we get to alabasta, right?!” usopp tried calming everyone’s nerves. “how much longer will it be, vivi?”
“i don’t know, but to wait one week is out of the question,” vivi replied helplessly.
“hey, is being sick really that bad?” luffy asked, to which sanji and usopp shook their heads, echoing that they’ve never been sick before.
“i can’t help her much, especially with the supplies you guys have. and if she doesn’t get treated soon, it may end up ending really bad,”
“what? like she’s gonna die?”
“yes, this could be a life-threatening instance,” vivi confirmed, which then made the ones inside the room go into a panic.
they were screaming their heads off and running around the room and [name] got the sense in himself to punch all of them to shut their mouths.
“we gotta find a doctor to treat nami!” luffy shouted, making [name]’s lips turn into a grimace.
“no,” nami weakly called out, making the entire room turn silent, “no,”
she tried sitting up, but [name] pushed her down instantly. it seemed sudden, his movement, but he made sure to act with extra caution when guiding her back to lay down.
“nami-san?” vivi asked gently, looking at her friend in concern.
“in my desk drawer, there’s a newspaper,” nami said finally.
when vivi went to check, [name] looked at nami, “what does it feel like?”
“i said, i’m fine,” nami said, but [name] rolled his eyes at her response. she seemed to cower under his gaze ever so slightly, but [name] didn’t let up in staring right into her tired eyes.
“what does the newspaper say, vivi?” luffy asked in a light tone.
“is it about alabasta, vivi-chan?”
“300,000 royal soldiers deflected to the resistance,” she said shakily, the grip she had on the newspaper only tightening, “it was originally a cold war, with 600,000 royal soldiers and 400,000 resistance soldiers — but now that’s suddenly changed!”
“the uprising in alabasta is getting serious now. that newspapers three days old and i’m sorry i kept it from you, but i knew we couldn’t change speed, so i didn’t want to worry you,” nami explained and [name] quietly worked in re-wetting the towel that was on her forehead. he wrung it out and gently put it back into its place.
“but do you understand, luffy?” nami asked, trying to see if the captain understood the urgency of the situation.
“i’m fine…that thermometer must be broken,” she breathed out, forcing a smile on her face to ease their minds. “it’s probably just sunstroke. for now, let’s head straight for alabasta as we planned. don’t worry, i’ll get better on my own.”
she pushed [name]’s tending hands aside, sitting upright and making sure to squeeze his arm for support when getting up, “thanks for worrying about me,” she spoke to the entire crew, walking up the stairs and leaving the little room.
“oi, we are finding a doctor, now,” [name] said.
“alabasta…is in shambles! we need to go there quickly,” vivi said, more so to herself as she crumbled into her own figure. “if we don’t millions of people will die, for no reason!”
there was a stalemate in the room as [name] hummed in thought. then he kneeled down in front of vivi, gently holding her shoulder.
”i can’t imagine your burden, princess,” he said softly, trying to ease her mind, “but — if nami doesn’t get treated, she’ll die.”
“the whole kingdom, crocodile-”
it was obvious vivi was scared out of her minds, she was at her wit’s end.
“i’ll kill him when we find him,” [name] said grimly, he took her hands in his to calm their shaking, encapsulating her hands in his own, “i can’t understand what you’re feeling, and i know it’s asking for a lot, but please,”
vivi shook her head, unable to wrap her hand around the idea of abandoning her people.
”crocodile? the moment i see him with my own eyes, i’ll kill him. i promise you, vivi, but nami needs a doctor and she needs it now,”
suddenly, there was a shout from on deck and it came from zoro, telling everyone to get out and help steer the ship’s course. everyone scrambled at the calling, but [name] and vivi stayed inside.
“[name]…” for a moment, [name] thought that vivi was going to slap him for being so pushy and he wouldn’t have blamed her. but it seemed he read the situation wrong as she simply collapsed into his arms, “i really need to go home, but nami needs to get better,”
he hesitantly wrapped his arms around her back to give her a hug, allowing her to rest on his shoulder, “i don’t know what to do!”
“well, we’re obviously gonna save alabasta!” [name] cheerfully replied, making her head rise from his shoulder and stare up at him with teary eyes, “but first we have to save our navigator,”
she smiled at his carefree attitude, wondering where he gets his strong mindset from. she wiped her eyes, laughing as he jokes about how sanji would beat him up if they walked out of the room together with vivi’s eyes teary.
“you’re a good princess, vivi.” [name] spoke, comfortingly moving his thumb up and down her shoulder, “but you’re an even better woman,”
she seemed genuinely touched at his comment and he was happy to see her smile return.
“i’m sorry, i don’t usually cry easily, especially with strangers,” she said, but then suddenly looked up and waved her hands around, “not to say we’re strangers, you’ve helped me plenty already and i sound so ungrateful for all you’ve done for us. i really think we are good friends - i don’t know why i-”
“haha! princess, you’re so funny! don’t worry,” [name] said, standing up in front of her. his previous position of kneeling down in front of her figure made them see eye-to-eye, but with him standing up she had to crane her neck to see him properly. “i’ll prove myself to be a great friend to you and everyone on board!”
for some reason, [name]’s smile seemed to be even more blinding now that they’d had a serious talk. vivi didn’t take it for granted, feeling relieved that someone so reliable was on her side and understanding of her.
“let’s go tell everyone and make sure we get nami to properly rest,” the two walked out of the room together and everyone was anticipating what vivi would say.
when she broke the news to the crew that she wished to find an island with a doctor everyone interuppted into loud cheers. [name] smiled at the looks of relief and happiness on the crews’ faces before pacing over to nami.
“let’s get you to lay down, alright?” he said softly, taking her frail body against his. “and good job in predicting that cyclone,” he whispered, making her look at him in confusion.
“what-?”
“what?! the hell?! is that!!!” luffy shouted out of nowhere, making [name] chuckle at his reaction.
“that cyclone,” [name] mused, watching as nami could only shake her head in disbelief.
“if you knew it was coming, you didn’t say anything…wait, how’d you know it was coming?” she asked, weakly walking alongside [name] back to the bed.
“i can tell!” [name] said proudly, “you felt it, right? i can feel it too, to an extent,”
she laid back down and [name] got to work in apply a cold towel to her forehead.
“you’re really weird, [name],” she said, eyes closing shut as she felt the relief of a cold towel pressed to her hot head. “really, really weird.”
[name] smiled at her and that was the last thing she saw before she was whisked away to sleep. it wasn’t a bad sight, were her last thoughts.
Why don’t you come over?
It’s only friendship we’ll risk
You can cry on my shoulder
If it’s her that you miss
Are you thinking of me
In a new light?
‘Cause if not wе could pretend for the night, for thе night
“Why don’t you come over for a little bit tonight?”
“It… it doesn’t even matter–”
“How long is your drive?”
Aaron’s sigh into the phone receiver is audible. You can almost picture him right now, his face screwed up in frustration and two fingers pinching at the bridge of his nose. “I’m… not far. I’m at a motel twenty minutes from Quantico. She offered to stay at Jessica’s house, but… I don’t want Jack to know what’s going on.”
This certainly wasn’t the conversation you were expecting to have when you phoned your boss in the evening, intending to apologize for the late hour and let him know that you would be sending a file to him that would need to be reviewed first thing in the morning. You were expecting a brief, rushed call. You weren’t expecting him to pocket-answer the phone so that you had an accidental front-row seat to the sound of your boss checking into a motel room for one guest.
When he finally heard your voice calling out, “Aaron!” from his pocket and realized what was going on, he had bashfully explained; another fight with Haley, a bad one. You know that they’re all bad these days, but his admittance meant that it was worse than usual. It had ended with both of them packing bags, insisting that the other stay at their house, and Hotch driving off before she could.
You can’t pretend that you aren’t a little surprised that he shared all of this without much prompting. But now, you just want to see him and know that he’s okay. You just want to make this better… but how can you do that?
Maybe it’s not your place to get involved at all. You would be the first to admit that, sure, you have a minor crush on your very married colleague, and maybe that means that you should be staying away from his marital problems with a twenty-foot pole. But if he needs help, you’re certainly going to offer it.
“I don’t want to say it, but… do you really think Jack doesn’t know? You two have been having a lot of problems, and he’s a smart kid.”
“I know. I know. But it’s not… we can work it out. We can figure something out. There’s no need to stress him out or make him think that we’re going to get a divorce. I don’t want him put through all of that, for something that won’t happen.” The pain in Aaron’s voice is as audible as his words, and the sheer emotion behind it… it just breaks your heart.
It’s your turn to sigh now, letting your head tip back and rest on the back of your couch. “Are you sure you don’t want to come over? It’s really no trouble, I promise. I’ve got a guest room; you can stay as long as you need.”
Now, there’s a familiar firmness in his tone. It’s that decisive I-know-best voice he uses when he really believes in what he’s saying. “I’m sure. I appreciate the offer, but I’ll be home by tomorrow. We’ll work this out. I… appreciate you speaking to me about this. I’m sure it’s not why you called.”
If he could see you, you would wave a hand in the air as if to say, ‘Don’t worry about it’. “Anytime, Aaron. And that offer stands, you hear me?”
This standing offer of yours might be a bad idea. What if he takes you up on it? What if he comes over, seeking your company? Your conflicting feelings for him are easy enough to set aside at work, but if he’s coming over because of his rocky marriage that’s a whole other battlefield you don’t have a clue how to navigate.
Aaron loves his wife. You know that he does. He adores her and their son, right down to his nightly phone calls with them on cases and the picture of the two that he keeps in his go bag. But sometimes, on the occasional event that he relaxes around you, you can’t help wondering if he could ever think of you the same way he thinks of Haley.
He could, you’re sure of that. He’s a red-blooded man, and even though that’s a little cliche of you, you can’t help but wish he would think of you as more than a colleague. You’re a woman who sees him more often than his own wife does, and that’s got to count for something. Does he really just view you as a colleague and friend, or… does he ever view you as something more?
Sometimes, you think maybe he does. During your last case – an abduction in South Dakota – the two of you had been canvassing together down a busy street when a biker rode past. Aaron had noticed in the nick of time, pulling you in towards him and out of the way of harm. He loves his wife more than anything, and you know that he was just keeping you from getting hurt. But for a moment, for just a split second, you had let yourself imagine that it was a gesture of more-than-friends, that he was pulling you in because he wanted to be closer to you.
So maybe this offer is a terrible, awful idea. You can admit that it probably is, but at least he doesn’t seem to be taking you up on it.
“I hear you.” There’s a bit of a smile in his voice now, as though he knows how serious you’re being and he finds it amusing. “Thank you, again. Have a nice night.”
Before you can respond, he hangs up. With a sigh, you set down the phone. It’s starting to get late now; you might as well go to sleep if he’s not coming over.
When you wake up, your bedroom is completely dark. Your alarm isn’t ringing on the nightstand, and when you roll over in bed you read the time on the digital clock. 3:46 AM.
So what the hell woke you up?
Your answer comes in the form of a knocking sound, loud enough to get your attention without being an obnoxious pounding sound. The noise is coming from… somewhere, so you get out of bed and slip on a robe over your pajamas to find the source of the noise.
The hunt leads you to your front door, where that steady knocking is coming from the other side. Someone is knocking on your door, at the late hour, and in a haze of grogginess and confusion, you wrench the door open.
“What is- Aaron?”
He’s standing on your step, his hand raised like he’s ready to knock again. His face… god. His face is full of pain, unimaginably pure pain, and he nods at you. “Hi. I’m sorry, I… you were sleeping. I’m sorry. I didn’t…”
His voice breaks a little, and that’s when you reach out. With one hand on his shoulder, you steer him into the house and close the door. “Are you okay? You didn’t… what?”
When you guide Aaron to the couch, he sits down without hesitation. His voice is drenched with despair when he says, “I didn’t… know where else to go. You said that the, er, offer was standing, right?”
“What? Yes, of course, it is. Aaron, what’s going on?” You sink down onto the couch next to him, watching him inhale deeply like he’s trying to ground himself. The tiny part of you that preens when he says that he didn’t know where else to go… well, you try to fight that part back. Right now, the priority is Aaron. The priority is not your ridiculous, unrealistic crush on him. “I thought you were staying at the motel tonight and going home tomorrow.”
“I did, too. Haley texted me a little while ago. She… she told me that she wants to figure out a… custody agreement that recognizes her as Jack’s primary parent. She wants to… work that out before she gets her lawyer involved.” He gives you a sardonic little smile, one that fills you to the brim with empathy as he continues to speak. “Apparently, when she said she would stay at her sister’s house, she meant indefinitely. I can expect to be served the… papers in the next week.”
He says ‘papers’ in a bitter tone, like the very sound of the word puts a bad taste in his mouth. It’s not hard to piece two and two together, and you slowly reach for his hand. He lets you take it, and you give him a moment before you ask the question.
“You and Haley are divorcing?” Compartmentalizing this has to be one of the most strong-willed things you’ve ever done. This isn’t the time for your feelings and emotions to be anywhere near the surface; not when Aaron needs you like this.
At the d-word, he flinches a little like he’s been wounded. He obviously hasn’t come to terms with the idea of it yet, and you wonder how long it’s been since she texted him. “We aren’t divorcing. She’s divorcing me.” His correction is swift, and his voice is brittle; it feels like he’s close to shattering. Seeing him like this – so vulnerable, so broken – is completely alien to you.
“Aaron…” You don’t know what to say, so you squeeze his hand. In lieu of any other words, you ask the stupidest possible question. “How do you feel?”
He laughs a little, at that. It isn’t genuine, but it’s not a cruel laugh either. It’s a little bit cynical, a little disbelieving. “I just found out that my wife is leaving me. It’s 4 AM, and I’m tired, and I can’t go home. I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel, right now.”
“I know. I know, I’m sorry. It was dumb of me to ask.” You move a little closer to him, the couch cushions shifting under you until you’re almost pressed against him. “You can talk about it, if you want to. You can tell me everything that’s going through your head.”
Aaron takes another deep breath at that, and his hold on your hand tightens a little. “She isn’t happy. She hasn’t been happy, and we both knew it. I just… I didn’t think this would happen. I know she wants me around more- wanted me around, I suppose. Lately, most of our fights have been about work. Haley wanted me to leave the BAU, the Bureau if it came down to it, and I refused. And I can’t blame her for wanting a normal life, or wanting me to work at a 9 to 5, but… I can’t do that.”
His monologue has shaken every remaining ounce of grogginess out of your system. Aaron so rarely opens up, especially about personal matters. Listening to him talk like this, you could go all night long without a cup of coffee.
Come to think of it, coffee is a really good idea. Standing up, you give him a small, sympathetic smile. “I’m just going to make us some coffee. You look like you need it.”
The open-concept design means that you only move a few feet away to get to the coffeemaker in the kitchen, and you look over at Aaron as you scoop grounds into the basket. “Why can’t you leave the BAU?” Your question is soft, not accusatory.
He hears your tone, the general curiosity, and sighs. “When I was a lawyer, I prosecuted dozens of murder cases. By the time they reached my desk, it always felt like it was too late. And I wanted to, uh… stop them, before they got to my desk. We see a lot of things, you know? Jack… I don’t want him growing up in a world like this, with serial killers around every corner. I want to make the world a safer place for him. I suppose I thought that… I thought that because I’m doing it for my family, that would make it… easier for her to deal with.”
By the time Aaron finishes speaking, you’re handing him a cup of coffee. It’s sweetened with a bit of sugar and some cream; he usually drinks it black, but you know he considers any other kind of coffee to be a treat. If there’s ever been a time for him to deserve a treat, it’s now.
“You’re a good dad,” you tell him as you sink back down onto the couch with a mug of your own. “I know that you and Haley might have different ideas about what parenting should look like, but… you’re doing this because you love him. You want to protect him, and keep him safe and innocent. That doesn’t make you a monster for missing bedtime.”
It’s silent for a long moment; the only sound is both of you sipping your coffees, and then Aaron hums quietly. “I just… I never want him to know what kind of people are out there. He’s a little kid. I’m supposed to be there to tell him that there isn’t a monster under his bed. Instead, I spent his birthday in Mississippi looking for a guy who hunts his victims by actually hiding under their beds. I can’t blame Haley for being upset with me.”
You’re still trying to think of a response to that when he speaks again. His voice softens now, and when you glance over he looks away quickly. It’s not quick enough, and you still make note of the tears in his eyes that he’s obviously trying to hide. “We’ve been together since high school, you know. Graduation, college, law school… all of it.”
“I had no idea,” you murmur. You knew that Aaron and his wife were together for a long time, obviously. But to be together since high school? That’s a hefty chunk of time; it’s more than half as long as he’s been alive. “I’m sorry, Aaron. I… I can’t even imagine how you feel.”
“If it helps, neither can I. I don’t… I have no clue how I feel,” he admits, setting down the coffee cup. His gaze is still averted, but you can see the tears shining in his eyes. “Things haven’t been great for a while, and I know that. I’m not an idiot. But she’s always been there by my side, always. And now… she won’t be there, anymore.” His voice breaks a little on the last word, and it just… breaks your heart, all over again.
When you speak, it’s a little more tentative. Between his strict professionalism in the office and the reason for this impromptu 4 AM visit, you’re worried that you might be crossing some sort of line here. He’s got a wife at home; technically, he’s still married. That, and the reason for your offer is more selfish than you care to admit. But you don’t mind that as much as you probably should. After a pause, you say it.
“You can say no, but… do you want a hug?” Even as you ask the question, you start to get to your feet. Maybe to give him easy access, or maybe just so you can busy yourself with the coffee mugs if he says no.
A soft ‘oof’ escapes you when Aaron gets to his feet and hugs you tightly, like he’s just been waiting for you to ask. His arms wrap around your waist while your own come up to reach around him, rubbing his back gently in as reassuring of a manner as you can. Yes, your reason for this hug is selfish… It's selfish to take pride in the fact that you’re the one comforting him, reassuring him, and hopefully making him feel better.
You’re just about to let go – the guilt-ridden confliction of your emotions is almost too much to handle – when you feel and hear a sharp intake of breath against your shoulder, under your hand. It’s paired with the softest, most broken-sounding sob you can imagine. Aaron is trying to hold back that flood of emotion, that heartbreak that seems to surround him like it’s stuck alongside him inside an impenetrable bubble, and you tighten your grip on him a little.
“It’s okay,” you whisper, and you hope that you sound soothing. You hope that you can calm him, help him in some way. “You can let go, it’s okay. I’m here, I’m not going anywhere.”
Aaron doesn’t respond. He’s silent against you as his face presses into your shoulder, but his back moves under your hand when he takes in another deep, shuddering breath. It isn’t until he pulls away and lowers his head that you realize that the shoulder of your robe is soaked with tears that you couldn’t feel through the layers of fabric.
His head is still down, and he wipes at his face like he can’t stand to have tears running down it. “I’m sorry,” he says after a long moment, and he turns away altogether while he presumably collects himself.
You allow him this privacy, this pseudo-solitude to wipe his face and straighten his posture and do whatever else he can to recover from his moment of sheer, sheer vulnerability. He’s starting to turn back by the time you say, “Don’t be. You’re hurting, Aaron. I want to be here for you, however I can be. If you want to talk about how much you miss her, and cry on my shoulder…” you shrug one of the aforementioned shoulders, a gesture meant to play off the tension of the moment, “Well, I’ve got two of them, so feel free. Whatever you need, okay? That’s a promise.”
With a little nod, Aaron wipes a hand under both eyes again. “I understand. I really appreciate it… I appreciate you. Just having you here, with me… it’s helped more than you know.”
A tight smile graces your face, and you pat his forearm as you step back. The coffee is starting to wear off, and you can feel the exhaustion down to your bones. It’s on his face too, in his eyes and the way they’re growing heavy with the need to sleep. “Of course. We can talk more in the morning, but I think for now you should try to get some sleep. Okay?”
Aaron straightens up, and you don’t miss the way his jaw flexes as he tries to suppress a yawn. “I think you’re right. Thank you, again.”
“There’s no need to thank me,” you promise, leading him down the hall towards the guest bedroom right next door to yours. “Just get some rest, and… tomorrow can wait. Everything else can wait, for now.”
“It can wait,” Aaron agrees with a solemn nod, his voice quiet. He thanks you once again before you step away from the door, listening to it shut before you turn off all the lights and return to your own bedroom.
By the time you slip under your blankets, you can hear soft snores floating through the shared wall. It’s still hard to tell if you’ve overstepped, or if you’ve crossed some sort of line tonight. But for now… Aaron might have Haley in his head, but he’s fast asleep in your guest bedroom. You’re going to support him through this next stage of his life. Whatever the next few weeks or months may bring, you’ll be there.
You aren’t going to change his mind on anything. If he wants to contest the divorce, you’ll be there for him. If he wants to do it amicably, you’ll ask how you can help. If he realizes somewhere along the way that you could be the one for him, you certainly won’t argue.
You’ve already waited without hope for years. If he winds up single then maybe, just maybe, he’ll think of you in a new light one day. And if not… maybe you can just pretend he will, for tonight.
Hold On, Hold On
pairing: Cowboy!Din Djarin x Fem!Reader
summary: Your cowboy leaves for another bounty and you face how fragile a home can be
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy & biggest thank you to my cowgal forever @skeletoncowboys this is for you I love ya
Tumblr media
The wilderness calls to your bounty hunting cowboy once again.
“Don’t know how long this one is going to take. So I’m having the kid come with me.” Din tells you, his black bandana covering his face.
As much as you understand, an ache swells through your chest fast.
Would this be the last time you saw him? Saw either of your boys that have become beautiful fixtures in your life?
Something as dangerous as a storm rips through your mind. This all is temporary and you knew that.
Nothing is sure or set in stone with a man who chases after demons in the desert.
Din’s occupation as a bounty hunter meant he jumped around from town to town, never settling in a place for too long. Even with a ward in his care, you understood there was no need for him to grow roots in a particular community.
The only reason why he often brought his bounties here was because the mayor of your town was a previous member of the same bounty hunting guild Din is in. You never even knew bounty hunters held guilds. But that is the life you are wading through now.
It’s the life that’s led you to this, to seeing Din and the baby off on their journey.
You kiss the kid goodbye. His sweet pudgy cheeks puff up so warmly when he smiles at you.
“Keep an eye on your dad, little bug,” you tell the baby as you poke his sweet little nose. He giggles and it’s a sound you will treasure.
“Alright kid, let’s go.” Din croaks low as he shifts the baby up into his arms.
You haven’t been able to look Din in the eyes since he announced his departure. You don’t even know why this particular trip is affecting you so much.
“I packed a few extra slices of bread.” You explain rapidly. “And I know you’re still upset that I’m having you take one of my quilts but trust me, I’d rather you two have it-“
He cuts off your rambling quietly with the soft whisper of your name. It strikes fast like lightning shot through your spine.
Now you can’t help but turn your gaze up to him.
The whispers around this man painted him to be an omen because you could never see his eyes.
That part is true. The shadow of Din’s hat casts a deep shadow heavily blocking any chance of getting a good look at him in the eye. Then his bandana completely hides him from the nose down. At times he truly exists as a faceless phantom, a wandering ghost that has now found residence in your heart’s chambers.
But right now, this phantom stares directly at you and you can clearly see the eyes of this righteous man.
You’ve seen his face, kissed his soft lips. But his eyes…
Those rich soil eyes hold so much emotion and now hold your entire soul captive in their gaze.
You say nothing, don’t even know what to tell him.
A goodbye feels too simple. A please come home safe doesn't sound true because was this really his home?
Would this ever be his home?
And could you ever house a man as wild as a tumbleweed?
“Thank you.” Din speaks first. However, that simple thank you is all he says.
Your arms ache to embrace him. Your lips wish you were brave enough to yank the cloth across his face down to kiss him with every inch of your love.
He suddenly nods at you and you only nod back.
Without another word Din jumps onto his horse. The animal, which you believe hates you, now lets you softly pet him. You wish you could appreciate this small step but heaviness clogs your heart too much for any other emotion to pass.
The baby makes a soft whimper and both you and Din snap your attention to him. With his chubby sweet little fingers, your little bug simply waves a sad soft thing at you. He’s so smart, the kid, and you swallow back hard as you wave back. Your eyes return to Din.
The shade of his hat now has you searching harder for his eyes.
This time you can’t find them.
Nothing else is said.
Din simply kicks his heels against his horse and then begins a slow ride away.
No breeze of the wind carries them. This time it is only the stillness of the desert. For some reason, as you watch them dwindle further and further away, the stillness scares you more.
Tumblr media
Summer beats down an unforgiving heat.
The air gets thick with the dry dust and you’re thankful for the cool nights that settle in. The early evening breeze from the open window already feels refreshing as you finish buying a few provisions from the commissary.
The clerk, an older man whose wife you are fond of, gently says your name hesitantly. His eyes are even a bit nervous and you ready yourself for whatever he asks.
“What…whatever happened to that young babe you had with you?”
You had previously been in the store many times with the baby happily cuddled in your arms. You used to cover him with a small light quilt to keep him safe from any curious eyes. You didn’t want them recognizing him if they saw the baby with your bounty hunter. But of course, the sight of you suddenly with a new babe did spark a few curious conversations.
Now your lips twitch but out of a fondness soaked in an aching sadness.
You haven't seen your boys for three months.
It’s the longest they’ve ever been gone. Not even a letter has been sent your way. But then again, you don’t take Din as one to write letters. The panic, the sleepless nights worrying if they were alright, all those emotions bleed into a numbness now. You simply wade through it all like trying to find an exit out of a sandpit slowly sinking you.
Swallowing the canyon sized lump in your throat, you simply give a brave false smile to the clerk staring so worried now.
You remember once jokingly telling him you had grown the baby in your garden. After all, you had first found the little terror eating your carrots.
“The wind swept him away from me,” you reply and you even hear the hollowness you cannot hide in your tone.
The clerk curiously frowns confused but his eyes seem to read past your brave face. He comfortingly pats your hand still on the counter and wishes you a safe walk back to your cabin.
With a grateful small grin you move to head out of the store.
Then the air bursts with a violent and loud crack.
Tumblr media
Bandits are not a new occurrence to you or to the town. Once in a blue moon, a couple of them would arrive, make a ruckus at the saloon or unfortunately leave the town with more than they came with.
But the bandits arriving now come in a wave, like a mass of locust swarming in so fast you didn’t have time to think. And you didn’t. The explosion comes and you and the clerk give each other a petrified look before dashing outside.
Smoke rises from the edge of town and your heart sinks horrified at the chaos quickly consuming. The raiders ride in fast. The sticks of dynamite in their hand speak of a sinister threat of what was to come if anyone tries to stop them.
You move fast, trying to help your dear clerk to his house to be with his wife. You try to keep low. But when you are up against a swarm, it’s hard to outrun their staggering numbers.
Anywhere you turn the raider’s sinisters faces laugh proud and wild from on top of their horses. Some of them even chase on foot like released devils. It’s a bedlam choking your throat in panic.
Leave. You have to leave, find shelter or at least hide in your home.
Thankfully a group of you, including Mayor Karga, band together and flee fast from the town out past the outskirts. You all make camp on a secluded hillside that overlooks the town.
In the dead of night, the town illuminates a destructive crimson that has your legs wanting to give out.
“Don’t worry everyone!” Karga with his steady leveled heads guidance calls out in the night to you and the others townsfolk. “Before we evacuated I sent a telegram to my best man! He will come!”
For some reason your mind immediately flashes to Din.
You almost want to laugh. Of course your love sick heart would clutch onto the idea of him during a perilous moment of turmoil. He was a known fighter, though you had never seen him in combat. But a sharp internal voice striking as sharp as a rattlesnake tells you not to put your faith in bounty hunters.
Not even Din.
You squeeze away the tears clouding up your eyes and try to sleep alone under the desert’s ever watchful eye.
Staring up at the clear beautiful sky, you watch as the stars twinkle down below.
There were children’s tales about wishing on stars, on how seeing one fly across the sky was the reminder of how quick and fast wishes come. You remember even telling that story to your favorite little carrot stealing bug.
Emotions clog your throat even more at the thought of the baby and his father.
Something in you whispers to make a wish. That maybe at this hour of feeling so lost, a wish is all you have.
But again, wishing on stars, wishing for bounty hunters to make a miraculous return from the horizon, is for children. And you are too old to hold onto wishes when your town faces a real chaos that wishes might not be able to maybe save.
A day passes among the hills.
The next day, talk bubbles among some of the townsfolk to try and take the county back. But even you know the ammunition would not withstand the sheer force of the bandits.
And the bandits are apparently a stubborn group.
Their leader, a terrifying man with a wild beard by the name of Gorian Shard, announces with a loud voice to Karga they will never leave.
“A fair retribution for you not serving my men and then discovering your precious bounty hunter killed more of my comrades!”
Your heart again jumps at the thought of it being Din.
But your mind races to the worst possibilities. Did he encounter these raiders and not make it out alive? What about the baby?
You refuse to let yourself dwindle on those thoughts. You can’t. You have to find a way to keep moving, find a way out of this situation.
The townsfolk grow restless and worried, more so than you.
“Now everyone please, just hold on. I know help is on the way!” Karga urges, a voice of reason and faith. It settles everyone enough as another night among the wilderness arrives.
This time clouds cluster in the skies above and hide the stars. You think it’s fitting as you go to sleep with tears in your eyes.
You think of Kargas words, the idea of holding onto faith. You suppose even now a part of you still greedily clutches onto a last bit of hope that you’ll see your cowboy again.
You glance up at the cloudy sky again.
Even though there are no stars out, your heart now sends out a whisper of a wish. It’s a simple one.
What else do you have to lose making a wish now?
So you wish for safety - for you, for the town, and for your two boys that you hope more than ever are alive.
Tumblr media
Soft low mummering wakes you up. Above stretches a soft periwinkle blue morning sky. When you rise you find so many staring down towards the town.
When you go to see what has everyone in a commotion, your breath gets snatched right out of your chest.
Din is fast on his horse.
He moves rapidly between the buildings and among the shadows that you believe you might have just imagined him.
But then, he swiftly rides out from a sharp corner and shoots three bandits down.
The towns people cry in absolute cheer but your eyes are on the cowboy moving like a phantom. It really is him.
Din.
He’s not alone though. More riders move in to take down the bandits but everyone including yourself focus on the mystery rider.
“Isn’t that the man with no eyes!? The one with the face you can’t even see?” Someone whispers.
“No…can’t be.” Another voice argues.
Karga suddenly chuckles, warm and reassured. “Trust me, my friends. That is indeed the same bounty hunter. He’s ours.”
A sharp flash of possessiveness rises.
You want to correct the Mayor and say he’s yours. That bounty hunter is your bounty hunter, the one who’s son eats from your garden, the bounty hunter who’s favorite fruit is oranges, whose face you knew and existence is now carved a deep cavern in your heart.
Din.
Your bounty hunter.
He’s a wonder to watch in action. Smooth, swift, firing with precision and maneuvering with an almost grace.
Your throat goes dry thinking of how strong this cowboy is the same one who once got flustered when he told you he can’t dance.
The bandits are effortlessly taken down by Din and the reinforcements he brought. Peace returns with the warm dawn. A beautiful relieved joy bursts through the crowd as everyone starts the descent back to the town. Your legs barely carry you but you eventually find yourself there among your town.
Rubble lines the streets. A few shops including the cantina took the worst damage. A steady rebuild is already being discussed among the townsfolk but your attention rests entirely on the black bandana wearing man.
He’s alive.
The baby sits cozy in his arms, smiling as bright as a new sun. Your mind can’t even process the thought of Din riding into battle with the kid.
Then a woman walks towards him.
Her gait is steady, confident. When she removes her hat to wipe her face, striking auburn colored hair falls from under her hat. She is lovely and it dawns on you that she was with the reinforcements.
You can’t help but admire her for being a part of the group who help liberate and retrieve your home. But when she moves closer to talk to Din, even playfully smiles at the baby, your heart starts deflating.
Soon Karga walks forward to speak to the hunters and the townspeople.
The entire time he talks you stay hidden against the shadow of a building, watching. The woman stands next to Din the entire time and grins so fondly. That look only intensifies when she goes to stare at him. Her eyes are molten and when Din turns back to her, he nods.
You hate that you cannot see his eyes.
The wilderness is not a forgiving thing. It brings in many travelers that simply come and go and it seems Din might be one of them. Because of course he would be close with another, a true cowgirl who can handle the wilderness and his ever changing lifestyle.
He never mentioned another woman in his life, but you suppose you wouldn’t either if you were in his position.
You wonder now if your existence to him was a simple way to pass the time, if you were just a quiet pit stop not ever meant to hold him for long. You try not to let these acidic jealous thoughts poison you, but it’s too late.
Before Din can turn to look towards the crowd, you turn on your heels and walk away against the shadows of the building.
You go to help the clerk, his sweet wife clean up the shop as best as you can.
“I wonder if the bounty hunter we’ve seen around here with the black bandana is handsome?” The clerk’s wife offers trying to lighten the space and her husband chuckles.
You stay quiet while your heart whispers out that yes, that bounty hunter is quite handsome.
When exhaustion mixes too dangerously with the heartbreak still brimming in your body, you decide to slip home.
You don’t even realize how long this day has been until you step out of the shop and find the sun already making her way to bed over the horizon.
It's comforting in a strange way.
The sun will rise again tomorrow, a new day, and so will you. You will move on.
You walk forward, straight out of the town and to the outskirts to where your cabin sits. You want to cry seeing your home thankfully still standing. A few animals are gone. Some crops and even stored goods from the shed have been stolen. The inside of your house is a ransacked clutter.
In the stillness, among the settled destruction, quiet tears sting your eyes.
You don’t know if it’s from the exhaustion of these past few days or the ache knowing your bounty hunter might be taken away from you by something fiercer than the wilderness.
He’s alive, your heart whispers.
You got your wish.
And that is true, but heavens above the truth hurts a violent ache.
Footsteps against the porch outside make you jump and whip around to stare from inside your house. There against your open doorway stands a beautiful shadow.
“Din…” Your voice even sounds hollow saying his name.
He pulls his mask down. His stunning handsome face stares at you wide as if you’re the phantom. Then he moves with a blinding speed you witnessed against the bandits.
In quick steps he is suddenly before you and then, you are in his arms.
He smells of gunpowder, sweat and something faintly him. It’s intoxicating and you can’t even stop yourself. Your arms wrap around him tight.
He breathes your name out and you think it might even sound like a shaken watery prayer.
“I didn’t see you among the others and I thought…I thought the worst, honey.” Din speaks with a heavy tone as thick as a torn bush.
That sweet but cursed nickname ignites a tender warmth through your body.
“I did too, about you.” You reply back small and in a waterlogged voice. “Haven’t seen you in months and I thought…”
You can’t even utter the words.
You instead simply allow yourself this moment to hold him tight.
“I know.” Din answers low. “The job took a lot longer than I thought. I’m sorry.”
“But then Karga sent me that ‘gram.” His voice steels hard.
So, it was him that Karga was speaking about.
“And I had to come back.” Din breathes out and squeezes you in his arms. His face even burrows against the top of your head and your eyes go wide.
Quietly your mind conjures up the image of the beautiful woman with the sunset colored hair and your eyes go misty.
So many emotions swirl in you that you can’t even swim against their tides to steady yourself.
A soft coo comes from the door now and instantly you and Din pull away from each other. Waddling in with wide eyes is the baby.
Without hesitation you leave Din’s arms to rush to the kid who once he sees you lights up. Then his arms reach out wide and grabby towards you. So effortlessly you scoop the little critter in your arms and pepper kisses across his face.
His sweet little coos twinkle like the sweetest wind chime.
“You came back just to eat more of my veggies didn’t you, little bug?” You laugh watery as the baby giggles so bright.
For the rest of the evening the little babe stays cozy in your arms refusing to leave even as you and Din slowly start cleaning up the cabin.
It’s a slow, quiet process.
Neither of you ask how the other is, how the other has been these missing months. The tension in the air clouds with a thickness you don’t know how to navigate.
Eventually the baby falls asleep quickly and happily snuggled in the makeshift bed.
Exhausted and in a type of trance all you can do is plop yourself on the edge of your porch. Din with his boots echoing on the wood quietly moves to sit beside you.
“Are you alright?” Din surprisingly speaks first in a comforting and low tone.
“Yeah it’s just… it’s been a long day.” It’s been a long couple of days, a couple of months and now, your ghost is materialized beside you.
“I bet.” Din comforts you so gently. “Don’t worry. We’ll get this place back to the way it was, honey.”
We will.
He included himself in those plans.
“You don’t have to stay too long,” but you reply low into the early evening air. “I understand your work keeps you busy and…”
The words become barbed and cut your throat on the way out.
“I know you had to come back because Karga sent out that distress signal. But I know this isn’t your home.”
Bounty hunters don’t stay in one place for long. He’s teaching you that.
And besides, what home could you truly give him?
The one you have now needs major repairs from the damage done by the bandits. Even before then your life compared to his is a simple mundane quietness that he might grow bored of.
Among the wilderness, the mirage is a sea of deception. It distorts the landscape before your eyes and for some reason that has you thinking of the times Din has returned to you from other jobs. You suppose that is what happened with you and Din. You wandered too deep into an unbelievable daydream and got stuck in the mirage, in the illusion of building a life with this man.
Din is still so far away, just out of your reach shimmering in the distance and untouchable.
After all, your bounty hunter is considered a ghost.
“I…” Din’s voice catches on itself and when you turn to him, the look on his face breaks your soul. His deep soil eyes are glossy, soaked with tears. His mouth opens in a sad frown.
Din swallows hard. Then his gorgeous sun kissed features frown even as confusion flickers in his gaze.
“I did come back for Karga, yes. But I came back because my home was in danger. Because you were in danger.”
His voice is clouded with conviction but running through it is an undercurrent of hurt.
Tears start to stream down your cheeks as free as rivers while you stare at him.
“You had to come home.” You croak the words out and a wild adoration resonates through your body.
Din nods firm, resolved.
You don’t know who moves first, who strikes first, but it doesn’t matter. The two of you are clutching each other and Din’s mouth kisses yours with the same wild power he shows in combat. He’s unrelenting and desperate but you suppose so are you.
The nights were long alone with your hand and simply thinking of his broad back, his beautiful thick neck, the feeling of his strong hands against you. And now, he is real solid flesh and blood beneath your fingertips. His tongue licks into your mouth trying to taste and consume everything you have. Your hands run to his hair and softly his hat falls away leaving you the bare face bounty hunter who you love entirely.
You clutch onto his shoulders and suddenly pull him close not even caring where you are.
Your back hits against the wood of the porch as Din leans down above. Din groans loud when his lips kiss your neck tasting the salt of your skin. Your eyes close in bliss.
He kisses a fiery path down your neck to your shoulders.
“Can I remove this, honey?” His voice is a debauched croak as he tugs at your garment blouse. Those deep eyes of his peer up at you beautiful fathomless abyss you want to fade into. Once you nod quickly he slips your blouse down exposing your chest to the evening air.
You wonder if a wild spirit has possessed you to let Din do this on your front porch but you embrace it. Especially when his tongue begins circling your nipple. Your mouth presses tight to and not let a whine escape you.
He suddenly kisses your breast with tenderness. He’s soft and lets his tongue trace a mindless path against your skin. It makes your body melt. Then he wraps his lips around your nipple and sucks loudly.
Your body leans up trying to get closer to him, trying to grind against any part of him, to get relief.
Din becomes a man possessed himself, licking and sucking both of your breasts until saliva coats them both
You sigh his name to the wind.
He finally draws back to stare down at you. He has never looked more beautiful. His eyes are completely blown out like a moonless night staring at you with pure devotion.
You lean up kiss him not even caring at how cold the air is against your bare chest. You need to be near him, need to consume him as much as he’s already consuming you.
Then the crunch of footsteps on the gravel approaches.
The sound galvanizes you both in a frenzy.
You rapidly yank your blouse up. Din effortlessly leans across you fast, almost covering you, as he whips to face forward. You realize it’s a type of protective move that makes your heart swell.
“I hope I’m not interrupting.” A woman’s voice arrives amused.
Now scrambling up, you gently move Din away. There standing a few feet away from the entrance to the porch is the woman with the sunset hair.
She grins a coy knowing thing and your heart drops.
You stare at her petrified. She simply grins warmer. Then she winks at you before turning her gaze to Din.
“I just wanted to let you know that myself and a few others are heading back to camp. Don’t want to keep my dear wife waiting too long after all.” She chuckles. “I’m assuming you’ll be staying here.”
Wait, wife? Confusion creeps in hearing her words.
“Yes.” Din replies with a curt nod.
“I figured.” The woman smiles and then flickers her attention back to you. With a poised warm expression she nods to you and you nod back, a bit stunned.
“Take care Din, enjoy your time back home. We’ll see you soon.” She says with a deep kindness and you don’t miss the way she phrases Din being back home.
“You as well Bo.” He bids her goodbye.
The woman, Bo, gives you a final warm grin and then walks to her horse you can spot faintly in the darkness.
“Who was that?” You have to ask.
“A good friend. She’s married to my people’s blacksmith. The two of them were the ones who rallied the reinforcements that helped me today.” Din explains simply.
Your eyes go wide. All the jealousy feels embarrassing now and you want to bring that woman back so you can both thank her and apologize.
“I’ll have to thank her and the others soon.” You mutter and Din hums a quiet agreeing noise.
“I would be honored to introduce you to them.” Din affirms.
The confusion you had quickly turns into a slight amusement tickling your lips and a small giggle even almost escapes you.
This day has been a whirlwind finally setting you down on your feet and now here you are, with your cowboy.
So you slide closer to him on the patio and curl your arms around his torso. Your body leans and curls against his back.
Closing your eyes, you burrow your face against Din’s strong solid frame. The fabric of his under shirt smells faintly of sunlight and something uniquely Din.
You kiss his back with the gentlest of pressure and Din draws your arms around him closer. He exhales a deep sigh you feel being so close against him.
A soft summer breeze of the desert breathes new life through the air.
“We’ll have to fix the fence tomorrow.” Din quietly notes and you hum in agreement.
There was much work to do. You even dread for a split moment thinking of all the work that has to be done in the heat tomorrow. But you also imagine the baby wandering around babbling so sweetly as he wears Din’s way too big hat…
And Din being by your side every step.
You squeeze him tighter, a silent apology for ever doubting this incredible force of a man.
“Welcome home.” You whisper to him.
Din’s hand squeezes yours.
“Yeah…M’home, honey.”
In your arms, you have caught a phantom of the wilderness and you plan to hold onto him as long as you can.
