Namor led her to an underwater cavern, and looking closer, she could see a strong current leading from one...was that hole? to the next.
"What exactly am I supposed to be seeing here?" Ara asked.
"Go in." Was Namor's helpful reply.
"G-go in? To the current?"
"Yes."
"Aha, no. I'd probably die hitting my head onto that rock over there."
He raised an eyebrow.
"Do you seriously think that we'd use it if it wasn't safe?"
She pondered that for a moment. He had a point.
She sighed.
"Fine."
"Excellent! Now just let the current suck you away."
She winced in anticipation and slowly swam towards the current.
"Oh, this isn't so baAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Namor chuckled.
Tumblr media
"NAMOR YOU BASTAR- whoa."
She stared at the city in awe.
"Welcome to Talokan."
A bright ball of light shone in the middle of the huge underwater city. Down below the "hills" where the duo was, people were gardening, playing a game with balls, and doing all sorts of activities.
"This..." She turned to look at him. "I can see why you fight so hard to keep this place safe."
"So I take it that you like it?"
"Like it? It's amazing, Namor!"
She grinned ear to ear, and her eyes were wide with fascination.
"Come," he said, beckoning with his hand, "There is so much to show you."
They swam down towards the people. A couple of children giggled and swam around Ara.
"Je'elo'oba' hola, mejen," she said. (A/N: I know that Yucatan Mayan probably does not have hola in their language, but that's what the translator said and I can't find an alternative ;-; Sorry!)
Well hello there, little ones.
"Máaxech?" One of the children asked.
Who are you?
"Eternidad, ba'ale' je'el u páajtal a t'anik in Ara," she replied.
Eternity, but you may call me Ara.
"Ta eternidad wáaj. Lelo' jump'éel k'aaba' jela'an!" Another child said.
Eternity? That's a weird name!
"Bejla'e', mejen paalalo'ob, ken amables. Ara jach jump'éel invitado. Leti' ku quedará yéetel to'on tumen jump'éel k'iin," Namor said, sternly but playfully.
Now, children, be nice. Ara is a guest. She will be staying with us for a while.
"Ma'alob, k'uj. uk' ulkan!" The children exclaimed in unison, and made a shape not unlike a clam shell with their hands.
Okay, K'uk'ulkan!
"Come," he said, turning to the deity, "There is still much more to show you."

*timeskip brought to you by my lazy ass who doesn't wanna write slow burn*
A year later...
The Mayan god and the cosmic entity sat together at the edge of the water, in the cavern.
"May I ask you something?" He asked.
"Of course."
"Why did you sacrifice yourself for those children?"
She stayed silent, drawing figures in the water with her finger. After a while, she spoke.
"When I first met them, they were much younger. Robin was nine at the time, he was the first one I'd met. The next was Aqualad, the one who went missing. Then it was Miss Martian, Kid Flash, Superboy, Artemis, and finally Zatanna. Over the years, I came to care for them as if they were my own. I love them." At this point in her story, she looked over at him. "They are the people I was talking about. They are my people. I would do anything for them."
"I understand."
"I know you do. I've seen the way you interact with your people. You care for them, Namor."
He looked at her, and smiled lightly.
"I have something to tell you."
He began to explain how his people were getting sick, and dying from the colonizer's disease. He told her how they had found a vibranium-enriched plant, and how his people had been saved from the disease. He recounted how they had built a city underwater, and how he had taken his name from the colonizer priest.
"He called me 'El Niño Sin Amor', or the Child Without Love. I took my name from that, and became Namor to my enemies," he finished.
"Namor..." She smiled at him. "You are not without love. I have seen the way that your people view you. They care about, love and respect you. You have earned that." She paused, then took his hand and squeezed it. "You have earned mine, too."
He looked up at those words.
"Ba'ax u k'áat ya'al yéetel lelo'?"
What do you mean by that?
"In wa'alike' tech a wóojel le núukik le k'áat chi'o'."
I think you know the answer to that question.
And slowly, he brought both hands up to her face, holding her head in his palms. She put a hand on his wrist.
And then they fucking kissed.
He leaned his forehead on hers. Her lips curved upward at the action.
"Namor-"
"Call me K'uk'ulkan." She raised an eyebrow. "We are not enemies anymore, in yakunaj."
My love.
"Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum."
I love you.
He pressed his lips to her forehead.
"Teen xan in yabilmech."
I love you, too.

I miss ur Hades Harry and Persephone YN :( what if he was being cute one day and surprises her with new flowers he planted for her? How cute to see the god of the dead blush!!
JAJZJAJAI AW IM SO HAPPY U LIKE MY HADES HARRY IT MAKES MY HEART SWELL ILY SO MUCH SNJSJS
On one particular day, as Harry’s walking around the palace talking with his counsel about new torturing techniques and a missing hellhound (which he’s sure is connected to the handful of missing spirits from the Fields of Asphodel), he passes by the library. The humungous set of obsidian doors are slightly ajar and even though he’s surrounded by a flurry of ghastly servants with papyrus containing population graphs and data tables, Hades manages to peek over their heads to see Y/N inside.
She’s standing in front of a painting her mother had gifted her a couple decades back, depicting the garden from her home back on Olympus. Harry watches with softening eyes as Y/N smooths her fingers over the image, a small frown dipping her pretty lips as her eyelashes shimmer with tears. He feels a splinter of pain prick his heart, sympathy sinking in right after.
He can’t stand seeing his girl sad. Whenever she’s hurting, he feels it with double the strength because he cares so deeply for her, it’s inevitable. Harry may be the god of the dead, but that didn’t make him heartless. It only makes him cold-hearted. And with that being said, Y/N holds one of the rare corners inside it that is full of warmth.
And so he takes it upon himself to help her out of this homesickness that has taken away her smile.
Later that day, Hades finds her lounging in the kitchen with the cooks, taste-testing different ambrosia recipes for the summer equinox party that is coming up soon. And when the staff isn’t watching, Harry catches her sneaking lemon square pastries from the trays besides the oven.
He comes up behind her, leaning against the closest wall, crossing his arms over his broad chest and tilting his head to the side, fighting off an endeared grin. “You’ve eaten so many of those, you’re going to become a lemon square.”
Y/N lets out a surprise yelp, body jolting in panic. The half-eaten treat in her hand falls and she fumbles for it, catching it just as it’s about to hit the marble floor.
She cups it in her hands, checking it for wounds and then pinning Harry with a deadly glare (pun intended). “At least then me and you will have something in common.”
“Oh, yeah?” He pushes off the wall, his powerful stride placing him a few inches from her face. “And what would that be?”
Y/N’s tinted lips tilt up coyly. “Bitterness.”
With that, she pops the last bite of the dessert into her mouth, scrunching her nose up mockingly and pushing past him, heading towards the pitchers of wine.
Harry rolls his eyes, turning on his heel and going after Persephone. He presses up against her backside, pushing her forward over the edge of the mahogany serving table, hands coasting up her outer thighs, lifting her dress up slightly. He rests his palms on her hips, leaning forward and planting sloppy kisses on the shell of her ear. “Y'know what else we’d have in common?”
Y/N slumps her shoulders, annoyance tinging the action, but he can feel her body clenching at his touch. “What?”
Hades sucks softly at her skin, trailing down her neck and back up to her ear. “We’d both be good enough to eat.”
“Gods, you’re stupid,” she grumbles, dipping her finger in the nearest pitcher of wine and tasting it.
“Say whatever you want. We all know you’ve had both in your mouth before.”
Y/N chokes on her index finger, turning around and shoving at his shoulder roughly. Her eyes flit around the room nervously, hoping no one had overheard. Meanwhile, Harry’s having the time of his life, snickering like a child and making sucking noises with his mouth.
“Stop!” She hisses, scowling up at him.
“Last time I heard you say that was last night, after your third orgasm,” Harry shrugs his eyebrows dismissively, reaching over her and tasting a wine brewed in Athens. “Or was it the fourth?”
Y/N’s cheeks and neck flush. “Shut up!”
He just chuckles lowly, pressing his lips to her forehead and hugging her tightly. “I came to tell you I have a surprise for you.”
“Does it include dirty jokes?”
“Possibly.”
“Sometimes I wonder how I fell in love with you.”
A few minutes later, Hades and Persephone are standing within the confines of her garden– the one he’d had built for her ages ago. They’re walking hand-in-hand through the beautiful trails, heading for a patch of land that seems to be freshly turned. Upon close inspection, Y/N sees that the area has been planted with a new species of flower she’s never seen before.
“What’s this?” She drops to her knees in front of the blossoming buds, eyeing them curiously.
“A pretty sight, that’s what.” Harry gives her a lopsided grin, dimples pinching into existence.
“The flowers?”
“No, you on your knees.”
“I swear it on Artemis’ favorite bow, if you don’t shut up…”
“Alright, alright. I planted these earlier today,” Harry kneels down beside her, reaching up to thumb over her cheek affectionately. “Had them brought down from the Garden of Hesperides. They were a pain in the ass to get a hold of but I pulled a few strings. There’s two spots set aside now in Elysium for two people who probably don’t deserve them, but it is what it is.”
Y/N stares up at him in shock, eyes bright with happiness. “You did this for me?”
“Of course. I saw you were feeling a bit homesick and decided to take it upon myself to help out.” He plants a kiss on her head, smiling softly. “Anything for my girl.”
Persephone smiles thankfully at Hades, feeling a thousand times better. “You’re such a romantic, y'know that? Nothing but a big softie.”
Harry tries to push it down– he really does– but the blush invades his cheeks nonetheless, making his entire face simmer under her fond gaze. He fidgets with his fingers, twisting his new ruby ring around his middle finger and avoiding eye contact, reaching up to push his hair from falling into his eyes. “It was nothing.”
“It’s everything.” She goes to hug him, pecking his cheeks, eyelids and nose until he’s laughing, scrunching up his face as his eyes sparkle.
He points to the plant’s petals, beginning to explain its origin. “It’s maroon with purple flecks, and it changes color when exposed to warmth. The gardener said they’d change to a mossy green with sky blue flecks, instead.”
“Yeah?” Y/N stares at him, sounding fascinated.
Harry takes her hands in his larger ones, bringing them together and cupping the elegant flower in between them. As promised, the heat of her skin causes the colors to melt into the new shades, even going as far as to grow a few new petals.
“Goddess of spring has her perks,” he winks, loving the way her smile brightens at the change.
“You should try it!” Persephone exclaims with excitement, turning around in his arms and staring at him with big innocent, expecting eyes.
He shrugs, reaching out towards the plant. “Don’t see why not.”
As soon as Harry’s fingertips caress the velvety petals, the flower stiffens up, the color changing back to its original shades, but even darker than before. It folds into itself, petals drawing upward until it is a closed bud, as if to protect itself. And if Harry isn’t mistaken, the leaves along the stem seem to be shaking, almost as if it’s…shivering.
“I didn’t wanna touch you, anyways.” Harry grumbles, pouting like a child because he can’t help it. He planted the damn thing. If anything, it should be hugging his fingers. “Who knew plants were assholes…”
Meanwhile, Y/N is having a ball, clutching her stomach as loud giggles and snorts shake her body.
Hades’ scowl deepens. “Y'think this is funny?”
“Hell yeah!” She grins widely, trying to calm her laughter. She touches the plant gently and Harry watches in utter disbelief as it slowly opens back up, almost hesitantly. “He doesn’t like that you’re cold.”
“Well, there’s nothing much I can do about that!” Harry snaps at the seedling, furrowing his brows over narrowed eyes. “Kinda comes with the territory. And it’s a ‘he’ now, is it?”
Persephone doesn’t respond but rather skims her index finger over the flower’s leaves. “And he says you smell funny.”
Harry can’t avoid the face he makes– it looks as if he’s just been slapped with Poseidon’s trident (which he has been before and strongly discourages it). He stares daggers at his gift, clenching his jaw. “At least I don’t eat manure.”
Y/N concentrates for second, and then breaks out into more spontaneous laughter. “He says you don’t have to. That you’re naturally full of shit.”
“Hand me that shovel.”

18, for the short story ask?
I’m gonna… go ahead… and assume u wanted wally/artemis. amnesia, told in 100 word blurbs. (god this was supposed to be short?????) 1.5k under the cut.
He’d been fast enough to see it, but not fast enough to stop it.
The sensors in his goggles had helped him track the beam’s trajectory all the way from The Brain’s blaster to its intended target and he’d turned on a dime and shouted desperately, mentally and into the night, but he never could have reached her before the beam struck.
She couldn’t have moved. He couldn’t have stopped it. He’d done everything in his power to help her. There was nothing else he could have done.
That’s what they keep telling him. It doesn’t make him feel better.
Artemis wakes up after seven, excruciatingly-long hours. From the corner of the room, Wally watches her greet her mother with a hard hug. Artemis doesn’t notice him.
“Mom,” Artemis rasps, “what’s going on?”
“You were hurt.”
“I was?” Artemis pulls back and gives herself a quick scan. “I feel fine, I swear, but it must’ve been bad if they let you out to see me.”
The room slows down. Paula shares a look with Wally and draws Artemis’s attention to him. Her stormy eyes lock with his as she asks,
“Who are you?”
“It’s temporary, Wally,” M’gann explains as tenderly as she can, in stark contrast to the way Wally approached her. “This isn’t like Bialya. Her memories weren’t psychically repressed. I don’t want to force memories out of her until it’s clear they won’t come back on their own. We just need to be patient.”
Kaldur agrees, placing a hand on Wally’s shoulder.
“M’gann is right,” Kaldur assures him. “For the time being, our best course of action is to wait.”
Wally shakes off his friend’s hand and darts out of sight.
Waiting was never his strong suit.
Wally is staring at her apartment door when Artemis sneaks up behind him.
“So, you’re my boyfriend,” she says, testing the words on her tongue.
“Uh, yeah.” He holds out his hand. “Wally West.”
Artemis appraises him as she shakes his hand. “Hm.”
“Hm?” Wally repeats, raising a brow.
“I don’t know,” Artemis says, not releasing his hand. “I never thought of myself as someone who dates guys named Wally. You must have made a great impression when we met.”
Wally thinks back to that day and smiles. “You could say that.”
“My mom’s had me under lock and key,” Artemis says as they walk down the street. “How’d you convince her to let me go beyond the mailbox?”
“She likes me,” Wally says. “She also knows I’m too scared of her to let anything happen to you.”
Artemis stops walking. “I don’t need a bodyguard to go to the corner store.”
Not for the first time, Wally is reminded that though she might look the same, there are years lost between them.
“Trust me. Where we’re going is way more interesting than the corner store.”
Bringing her to the Cave was a bad idea. The team lets Wally know this, loudly and mentally and in Artemis’s presence, and he thought they’d know by now that that is a bad idea, but they don’t.
“Oh my god,” Artemis says suddenly, unknowingly cutting off Nightwing’s rant about security. “I just remembered something.”
The team takes a collective breath of hope.
“Really?” Wally chances.
“Yeah, you guys are really rude,” she says, half joking. “I’ve been standing here for like five minutes and you haven’t said a word.”
Her humor is not appreciated.
He’s almost done giving her the tour when she stuns him with a kiss. When he pulls away, he sees a million questions float around in her eyes before they fade to hurt.
“Sorry,” Artemis says quickly, her brows pinching as she looks away, “I thought it would– I thought it was worth a shot. God, that sounds so stupid now.”
“It’s not stupid.”
“I hate this. I don’t know who I am, but I feel like I know you, and the others, and this place, and it’s not fair.”
Wally agrees. “It’s really not.”
After dropping Artemis off at her apartment, Wally uses his walk to the Zeta Tube to think.
He had spent the whole day trying to get Artemis to remember The Cave, their friends, himself– but he hadn’t told her all that much about the Artemis he knew. She needed to remember that she trusts them, that she likes game nights as much as recon missions, that she’s kicked her father’s ass on more than one occasion– and she needed to remember how she got to this point.
He changes his destination and brainstorms a plan to show her exactly that.
The next day, Wally brings Artemis to a room they hadn’t reached the previous day. The shelves are full of mismatched items in varying states of disarray and Artemis doesn’t wait half a minute to raise a brow at him.
“What are these?” she asks. “Your hoarding problem?”
“They’re souvenirs,” Wally explains, a little insulted, as he walks to the far end of the shelf. “Little things we’ve collected over the years. Everything in here has a meaning behind it. A lot of them have something to do with you, so settle in. It’s story time.”
“Wait a second,” Artemis stops him mid-sentence, “I saved your life and you told me to get lost?”
“You weren’t very nice either. You insulted me the minute I met you.”
“Whatever,” she scoffs. “I’m sure I had a good reason.”
She did, he thinks, but how many times must he relive that moment before the universe decides he’s suffered enough embarrassment?
“Anyway, before I was so rudely interrupted, you ran up to the roof”– Wally places the arrow on the shelf and pulls out Cheshire’s mask,– “and came back with this.”
Artemis hesitantly pulls Sportsmaster’s mask from the shelf and takes a seat back on the floor with Wally.
Something is different. Wally can tell. Somewhere between the story about the Reds and the Injustice League, something changed.
Artemis weighs the mask in her hands before she traces a finger over the scuff mark across the surface. She looks up at Wally for a split second before she returns her attention to the mask, but it is just long enough for him to see it: a flicker of recognition.
“I kicked him,” she breathes out. “I kicked him hard.”
After that, Artemis’s memory comes back in bits and pieces, from big sweeping moments to small asides during missions. They come back out of order. She can’t stand it.
“Was that before or after we met Donna?” Artemis asks, writing another memory down.
“After,” Wally answers, not entirely sure of the exact day Artemis had her wisdom teeth removed.
Artemis sighs before she presses her palm to her temple. “We’ve been here forever. When is M’gann coming back?”
“At least two more hours.”
She groans before she scribbles down “Harm”.
(They don’t know what that’s about.)
For some reason, M’gann feels far more comfortable sorting Artemis’s memories than forcing them to surface. It takes her less than an hour to clear up the foggy edges and set the timeline straight within Artemis’s mind. Wally’s a little more than ticked at his teammate for not stepping in sooner, but he keeps his mouth shut because his plan worked.
Artemis is back– mostly. She’ll be 100% by the end of the week, hopefully.
Artemis grabs Wally by the arm as she rushes out of M’gann’s room. “Come on. I just remembered something. I have to show you.”
“This is where I keep my souvenirs,” Artemis explains, pulling a plastic box out of her closet. She pops the lid open and pulls out a red shirt button. She hands it to Wally.
“What’s that?”
“I stuck that in my belt after your trashed your Homecoming shirt,” Artemis says triumphantly. “We had to get to Star Labs and there were too many buttons for you. I made fun of you for pulling a Conner, but I hung onto that.”
“Why?”
Artemis smiles. “Because that was the first night you said you loved me.”
When Wally’s through kissing her (for the moment), Artemis rests her head in the crook of his neck.
“Thank you for bringing me back,” she says.
“You’d do the same for me, Babe,” Wally says, reveling in the feeling of the world righting itself again.
“In a heartbeat,” she adds, pulling back to look him in the eye. “I love you.”
He kisses her tenderly, and he thinks about what he almost lost for a second before he resolves to do everything he can to hang onto what he has now.
“I love you, too.”

CH. 9 Rumors
AO3: Here
Fanfiction: Here
Summary: Keeping a secret identity secret is normally hard enough but when you’re as beautiful as Minako Aino you’re bound to have all kinds of creeps and weirdo stalking your every move. Now there’s a cop hot on her trail and she’ll have to be quick on her feet if she’s to keep her identity on the DL. Just what is a gorgeous super-heroine to do?
Keisuke walked up to a nondescript apartment building on the corner of two minor streets with a 7-Eleven a few blocks down. He knocked on the appropriate door and waited until Ueda answered it shortly after, swinging the door wide open to reveal a mass of reddish blond curls atop a rather disheveled, scrawny looking man.
"Finally!" Ueda huffed, waving him in, "I was beginning to think you'd never show. Some of us do have other things to do you know?"
Keisuke clasped his hands behind his back and stepped into the open floor styled apartment. "I apologize for my tardiness. There was an incident on the Rainbow Bridge."
"Traffic accident?"
"No, jumper."
Ueda pursed his lips. "I suppose you were able to talk him down given that you're here now and not calling to reschedule again." He gestured for the detective to sit on the couch and then took the chair adjacent to him.
"He's alive," Keisuke confirmed, not bothering to go into details. "But I'm not here to talk about him. What can you tell me?"
Ueda nodded and then stood, walking into another room to retrieve something.
"By the way, can I offer you anything to drink?" Ueda asked upon reappearing, holding a thin silver laptop.
"No thank you."
"Well then, let me just…" Ueda took a seat and opened the laptop, typing for a few minutes, and then twisted the screen to face him.
Keisuke adjusted the screen and skimmed over the contents, clicking the cursor now and then and scrolling down until he reached the bottom of the file. When he had finished, he pushed the laptop back towards Ueda and sat back in his seat as he processed the information.
"Has this been cross verified?"
"Several times over." Ueda raised a pointed brow, "The data wasn't difficult to collect. I'm surprised the police haven't noticed a similar pattern yet."
"We knew about the populated locations trend. Terrorists generally tend to target areas with high foot traffic. That pattern grew less consistent though when they began targeting single individuals." Keisuke gestured towards the laptop. "I was unaware however, that there were momentary spikes in radiation levels before each attack."
"Not just radiation," Ueda corrected, "although I think it's safe to attribute those to your "so-called" youma. There's also usually several adjacent spikes in energy levels following that burst of radiation that I've concluded belong to the Sailor Senshi."
Keisuke scoffed. "The Senshi are nothing but an urban legend."
"Oh?" Ueda ran his fingers over the keyboard in rapid succession and then twisted the laptop back towards Keisuke. "What do you call them then?"
Keisuke looked to see five women—all dressed in ridiculously short and colorful skirts—yelling at something just off screen. The camera shook as the videographer crept closer, its lens zooming in on the two nearest; a short, blue haired woman and another one with long golden hair. Keisuke's eyes narrowed suspiciously. Something about the blonde seemed familiar but he wasn't sure what. The video continued for another few seconds until one of the women raised her hands and then the video cut off.
"Well?"
Keisuke eyed the other man staring at him expectantly. "All I saw were a bunch of women running around in colorful costumes."
Ueda threw his hands in the air with a disgruntled groan. "You can't film them when they use their powers! It fries the electrical systems if the youma's radiation hasn't fucked it all up already!" He crossed his arms and shot Keisuke a look of contempt. "There's too many stories, too many eye witness accounts for them to be just dismissed as an urban legend and yet no one has been capable of capturing their images. Surely an intelligent man, such as yourself, isn't ignorant enough to outright ignore the possibility of their existence?"
Keisuke frowned, touching the hidden flash drive in his pocket. The camera feed from the bank had been fried following him sucker punching the first robber to the ground but there hadn't been anything or anyone supernatural there. Sometimes technology just crapped out. Then again...something had twisted the AR-15s' barrel unnaturally.
"I can see you've remembered something," Ueda smirked. He handed him a small flash drive. "I took the liberty of making you a copy of my files. Use them wisely detective."
"Not so fast," Keisuke said, eyeing Ueda suspiciously, "If they can't be caught on camera, how'd you manage that video?"
"Please," Ueda drawled, "I'm a genius. I rigged my camera to withstand the initial bursts of radiation and energy surges in order to catch those few seconds. Didn't last long mind you," he shrugged, "but I think it did the job."
Keisuke nodded, satisfied, and pocketed the flash drive alongside his other one and then stood to leave.
"I'll be sure to give this to our analysts and credit you for the information. It may not be able to prevent anything but it will certainly improve our response time. Thank you."
Ueda waved him off. "Just doing my civic duty and all that."
"Yes, well, I and my fellow officers at the TCPD appreciate it."
Keisuke left Ueda's and headed directly for his precinct, hoping to catch Goto before the day's end.
Goto had already left for the day by the time he arrived, so he spent the rest of his day filling out paperwork and reviewing his notes. He was just dropping off a short briefing on Commissioner's desk over what he'd learned at Ueda's when Tsuji Gorou, another detective he partnered with some times, walked over to him.
"A few of us are going out tonight to that new club that just opened. You in?"
Keisuke gave the other man a flat look.
"Why would I want to waste my personal time surrounded by drunken idiots?"
Gorou laughed. "Don't be like that. It'll be fun, I swear! Plus, rumor has it several well known celebrities will be in attendance tonight, including your pretty blonde suspect."
Keisuke shot Gorou another look but eventually agreed to go although given her recent history, he wasn't sure if he hoped Aino would be there or not.
~~~
Minako groaned and rolled over, blindly searching for her phone for a few seconds before dragging it to her line of vision. Her notifications indicated she'd gotten several texts. She yawned and opened her text window.
Hey Gurl! Where r u?
Get down x already!
Y's waitin 4 u!
If u don't want him, Ill take him :P
That's right, she'd promised to make an appearance at that new club. Shoot.
Minako flopped back onto her pillow and checked the time. It was barely nine thirty. She could probably swing it.
She hopped out of bed with more energy then she had to spare and slipped into the bathroom to splash some water on her face and add some mascara and glittery gold eyeshadow to her eyes before donning a new backless black dress she'd been dying to wear. A spritz of perfume and a twist of her hair and she was ready to go.
"And where do you think you're going?"
Minako rolled her eyes and turned to see Artemis entering from the window.
"I promised I'd stop by that club tonight, remember?"
Artemis rolled his eyes and hopped onto her bed.
"And I said you needed rest, remember?"
"I've been sleeping since I got home. Besides," Minako said, striking a pose, "I'm already all brushed up!"
"It's dolled up," Artemis huffed.
"Which I am!" Minako grabbed her phone and slipped it into her purse. "Anyway, got to go. Don't wait up!"
"I'll get us some drinks!" her friend Momo yelled over the beats of the DJ. Minako nodded that she understood and moved to find them a table. Although she had promised the owners of Kismet that she'd be attending tonight, it had been much too crowded to reserve them any.
Minako paused in her search to take a quick selfie, flashing her signature V and a cheeky grin. She checked the image, chose a light filter, and then posted it to her Instagram with a #girlsjustwannahavefun tag.
"Hey beautiful," said a voice to her right.
Minako turned to see who had addressed her and noted a muscular man in a tight tee. He had a couple friends behind him who weren't quite as built as him but didn't look like they'd been skipping the gym either.
"Are you looking for a place to sit?" asked the man upon catching her attention. "Because my face has a vacancy."
Minako made a face at the crude pickup line but attempted to turn him down gently.
"Sorry, I don't go home with strangers."
She turned to walk away but a grip on her arm prevented her from getting any further.
"Don't be like that baby," said the man, "Stay and chat with me awhile. Get to know me."
Minako slipped her arm from his grasp and put her hands up in front of her, hoping to placate the jerk. She needed to end the interaction quickly before Momo showed back up and the creep got his hands on her as well but Minako also couldn't afford to make a scene in such a public space.
"I'm sorry but I'm here with a friend. I really have to go."
"And I think you should stay."
The asshole moved to grab her again when another club patron stopped him by grabbing his arm.
"She's not interested bud. Move along."
"Who the fuck are you twiggy? I could snap you in half like," the asshole snapped his fingers and smirked but the other man merely laughed.
"I'd like to see you fucking try."
That was all the incentive muscle head needed as he lunged for the other man but the other man was faster and dodged, sending the idiot running into several patrons nearby and ripping the dress of one woman as he attempted to regain his balance.
The woman screamed, drawing the attention of those around her, including her date who then proceeded to take a swing at the muscle head who dodged and shoved the woman's date into the man he'd originally been fighting, as well as several others. His asshole friends jumped to either side of him causing the first man's buddies to join in and transforming the fight into an all out brawl with the addition of the date, who was quick to jump back into the thick of things punching whoever came within arm's reach, which at one point happened to be Minako.
Minako dodged the punch—and dodged a few more things as well—and scanned over the chaos breaking out in search of her friend. Women were shrieking and running away, one man broke a chair on another man's back, and at least two men were on the ground pummeling others but there was no Momo. Minako ducked behind a corner and scrutinized the mess a little closer. There! Momo had hidden behind the bar while the bartender and bouncer attempted to help break things up.
Minako started to go to her but was again prevented from leaving by a grip on her arm.
"And where do you think you're going,"leered the jerk who started it all, pulling her towards him.
"Let her go," demanded a familiar baritone and Minako was more than a little relieved to see it was the detective of all people.
The jerk dropped her arm and to take a swing at the detective but Detective Koizumi merely leaned back a few inches, avoiding the blow.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Detective Koizumi warned him but this only infuriated the other man more. He took several more swings, all easily dodged with a step here or there until eventually Detective Koizumi just smirked and caught the attacker's fist in one hand before twisting it around and making the other man cry out in pain.
"Attacking an officer is guaranteed jail time, you know." He pulled out his handcuffs from his jacket and cuffed his attacker behind his back before turning steel grey eyes on Minako. "Are you alright Aino-san?"
"I'm fi—watch out!"
Minako yanked the detective towards her, throwing him off balance and out of the way of the jagged end of a broken bottle. His leather jacket wasn't as lucky.
Another man tackled the assailant from behind, disarming him in the process.
"Keisuke you okay?"
"Yeah," Detective Koizumi said, inspecting the large gash in his jacket. He frowned and then threw out a hand to help the other man up. " Thanks for the assist Gorou."
"No problem," Gorou grinned. "Aren't you glad you came out now?"
Minako watched in amusement as the detective leveled his friend with a flat stare while several other officers rounded up brawlers in the background. She should probably see to her own friend since the fight seemed to be calming down.
"Thanks for your help detective," Minako smiled, flushing just the slightest when both men turned to look at her. She raised her brow knowingly and inwardly cheered when both men leaned closer. "Your timing was impeccable as always."
"I wouldn't need to be if you could manage to stay out of trouble," Detective Koizumi smirked, shrugging out of his jacket. He grabbed something out of its pocket and then draped the jacket over her shoulders. "Here. Although it's torn, it'll help. I'm sure you'll be chilly in that dress once the adrenaline runs out."
This time Minako did blush fully but she pulled the large jacket tighter over her shoulders anyways. "Thank you." She hesitated for a moment and then pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Goodnight."
Minako fled the scene as quick as her legs could take her.
i found some a softer world quotes that fulfill the earth 14 cycle and i will try and describe each of them as best as i can under the cut bc earth 14 is on the brain today folks!  some of these i have more ideas for than others pls note like some are completed comics in my head, and others are just ‘yeah this fits this character’
i got myself a time machine,/only to learn a disappointing truth/that no matter where i go, there i am -- ok so time travel isn’t MUCH of a thing in earth 14, but u can’t have booster gold without time travel, so!  this one is a bootsle comic.  bc ted’s death up until our blackest night arc is relatively permanent.  so the first two panels are like.  happy boostle things and the last one is michael at the grave bc i like pain and suffering for my own emotions
such trivialities do not even register to me.  i am a being of pure reason/love would only slow me down. -- this is either baby thad or baby damian.  first two panels are Bad Things they did on their course of before they were a hero, and the last panel is them being hugged by their family.  im torn on who it should be so if i ever get gud at drawing, i’ll do both!
before we met i was so scared of dying./but if the end comes today/this will have been enough. -- ok this is kind of bart but mostly it’s more bart’s relationships with his best friend squad: himself, thad, damian, conner, and maya (she’s from robin: son of batman and she made me and britt cry so obviously she stays in earth 14)  the first panel is bart a his parent’s funerals, and the second and third panels are a group shot of them together.
i used to think being intelligent/was enough. -- this is thad!  his backstory in this is even sadder and i hate myself every day for it.  but long story short--thad used to think that he could live th eway he was living up until he meets bart for the first time, and then realises he’d never really had that kind of relationship with anybody and it is Not Enough to just be the speedster eobard thawne and hunter zoloman want you to be.
suicidal is an ugly word./i am just homesick/for a better time. -- this is a dick grayson one!  mostly bc he’s passively suicidal and actively very self destructive through alcohol and sex after jason dies.  lots of bad things happen to dick during that time.  a lot of bad things actually but im not getting into those deets here.  but the first panel is him laying on a rooftop from the torso up with a blank expression and the second and  third panels is dick hugging a robins who was then shorter than himself, but the face is obscured and so is part of the costume--so whether it’s dick himself, jason, or damian is up to the viewer
it turns out that sometimes/the future actually/belongs to someone else. --  first shot of the league that is formed in ‘99, then the lineup with wally, and then the 2014 teen titans bc i like pain.  lian is dead center in the last panel (belongs to someone else) bc this is foreshadowing
i am a pacifist/and i will be a pacifist until i die/or someone threatens my mother. -- this is milagro!  she becomes a green lantern during the blackest night events and is originally the GL by necessity, since it’s originally kyle rayner, but he becomes the white lantern.  but anyways--she doesn’t want to be the kind of hero that has to always take down the villain, but somebody who makes the world a better place by helping people.  unless u fuck with her mom, we’re looking at you hal jordan.  but anyways, milagro is in the first two panels, hugging somebody, and in the third panel punching hal in the face (hal’s a conduit for parallax so)
live and learn/or die and teach by example. --  barry allen here.  first panel is actually don and barry fighting.  next panel is the lower half of a tv screen news channel with ‘the flash is dead’ being the headline.  then the last panel is wally and don fighting :’)
i wish there was a better word/than ‘sorry’./but i’d probably need a better word than that. -- so we get damian wayne shot.  dick and jason do not handle this well.  jason ends up going to prison (see the microchip below) and dick uh.  drinks himself into a literal stupor for a bit.  damian handcuffs dick to the hospital bed and then they end up hugging it out.  so the panels is just a long shot of  the room while dick is handcuffed to the bed and hugging damian :’)
life is never so bleak/that you can’t turn things around/with a crime spree. -- lmao i swear i was gonna make this serious abt jason todd but im lying it’s a hartley one.  hartley, being a villain first and foremost, ends up being kicked out by his parents before barry allen is murdered.  so this is rly just a three-panel of him robbing a bank i’m sorry i needed a laugh while writing this post
i never wanted anything to happen to my parents,/but a hero needs an origin story. -- this is either dick or bart i ccan’t make up my FUCKING MIND but obvs it’s either dick’s parents dying and dick in the robin costume after, or bart’s parents dying and bart in the impulse costume after.  obviously
there, that wasn’t so bad, was it?/flush goes the microchip!/who lives off the grid?  is it you?  is it you?  yes it is! -- ok so this one is kind of funny but recently we decided jason goes to belle reve for his crimes as red hood.  so artemis--the amazon, not artemis crock--ends up destroying the chip in jason that woudl blow his head off and jason ends up falling Madly In Love With Her:tm: so it’s the scene where they first meet and artemis zaps jason enough so his head no longer can explodey wodey
every time i almost die i feel so alive./why would i ever want to be more careful? -- this is a six panel one.  first three panels is dick jumping off a building bc he does that in canon comics for the rush.  and then the second three panels is dick looking at a computer monitor with shock and you can just bbbbaaaaarely make jason’s face out on it, but jason is Dead lmao.  dick watched that autopsy.
i love sorrow and suffering :’)  earth 14 is a happy au where nothing bad happens to my faves.  also there were more but i started discussing hal jordan’s saggy balls and couldn’t write anymore
