going through ur stuff it seems like u dont really like angel dust all that much whats wrong with him???????
I don't have a problem with Angel Dust as a character, I'm actually mostly just indifferent to him. Like he's cool, but I don't have any particularly strong feelings towards him.
What I do actively dislike, however, is how way too many fans portray him.
More often than not I see him portrayed as this uwu soft baby who can't defend himself and it pisses me off. He was literally in the mob, I think he knows how to fucking take care of himself!
Like with Valentino, it's one thing (though I have a bit of a hard time believing he'd be just a complete doormat the way fans portray him, even with Val. Like I feel like he'd still be subtly sassy, at least sometimes), but I've seen people do this with him just in general. And I have to sit here like did we even watch the same pilot? 'Cause I know who this character looks like, but he certainly isn't actually Angel Dust.
He's not some soft, baby pushover, and it's infuriating the sheer amount of people who portray him that way. And unfortunately, fan portrayal can poison a character to other fans who may not be fans of said character already.

I'm too tired for a proper introduction. I don't like yoshiki's dad and how he's being portrayed in the manga.
Before ch25, the most we see of yoshiki's dad is from the hgsn light novel’s bonus chapter, wherein we get a lot of focus on the disparity between parental roles and how mothers are expected to care solely for the children while fathers are expected to work for the family. Like that's the problem with their relationship: Yoshiki’s mom wants her husband to *care* about their kids and Yoshiki’s father thinks that solely because he’s their father that the amount of care he’s showing (almost none) is acceptable. She goes up to him, asks if he thinks it's okay that Kaoru isn't going to school, and he just further pushes the responsibility onto her by telling her that surely as Kaoru’s mother she knows best. She presses more for his opinion, and he continues to refuse to think about it, becoming frustrated when she pushes back to the point that when the argument is done he’s hitting tables and slamming doors like a child because talking to his wife 'annoys' him so much.
And the thing is that Yoshiki's mom still currently works. She has a job and is expected to do all the housework and decision making for the kids on top of that, and Yoshiki's dad is the one who is stubbornly clinging to these typical roles because it's upsetting for him when it's pointed out that he's failing as a parent. His wife is practically begging him to care, and he just refuses.
(And it makes sense the disparity gets focused on here because Len didn’t write it.)
ANYWAY, looking at this, it makes perfect sense why Yoshiki doesn't want to talk to his dad. His dad doesn't want to talk to him, slams doors when he gets confronted with the idea he may have to *think* about his kids, and so, if Yoshiki's dad wants to be absent from Yoshiki's life, Yoshiki wants him to be absent too- in all forms. From the moles he's inherited to the supposed similarities between them, Yoshiki wants nothing to do with him.
(There's a misconception going around that Yoshiki's dad beats him. This is from a mistranslation of the light novel; Yoshiki's dad only hits objects. Feel free to write him however you want tho, I know I hardly stick to canon lol. I just wanted to preemptively avoid ppl informing me of that)
But if you’ve only read the manga, then why doesn’t Yoshiki like his father? He… knocked over a glass once maybe? Looked real pathetic getting yelled at? Grabbed Yoshiki’s arm and said some vague stuff about the unuki. In the past people told Yoshiki he was like him. That's what we got of Yoshiki's dad before ch25.
Then in ch25, Yoshiki's dad is some like... idfk? Pathetic little guy who wants to spend time with his family but he doesn't feel like he has a place to belong in the house :( I mean sure he's clearly in the house at a normal time when everyone else is in the house so it's not like he's working insane hours and can never see them, but didn't you know he's so scared of his wife :(((( and look he's actually not a bad parent cuz one time he read Yoshiki a book, and he's got an artistic side cuz he wanted to be a novelist, and he's such a funny little clumsy guy :) also he's got himself a little family tree with daddy issues of his own :))
I'd almost entertain that this is him putting up an act around yoshiki like yoshiki's mom says, but it's pretty unlikely from what we see of him in extras. Len wants us to see him as a person who just struggles to assert himself and that's what causing the breakdown of the family, not what the light novel presents where he asserts himself with his actions, and what he's saying he doesn't care about the family.
It's just kind of frustrating because I liked the examination in the light novel, highlighting the flaws in what’s assumed as a normal family dynamic in Japan, and I think it perfectly fits the themes HGSN explores with maintaining flawed traditions that only work on the surface. In turn what we’ve got in the manga is just… muddled and weird.

Pisaeng's Mother in Episode 6
We got such a monumental feeling episode with Pisaeng last week and his exploration of his queer identity, and this episode felt a bit quieter on that front, but no less important for understanding his character. This was a parent heavy episode, both with Kawi's desperation and grief over his father's illness and future death, and the introduction of Pisaeng's mother. I have a lot of thoughts about Kawi this episode but here I'd like to discuss Pisaeng and his mother.
We first see her onscreen this episode when Max is watching her interview, and he notes they have the same last name but Pisaeng doesn't comment. Max compliments her and says he likes what she has to say, but there is something uneasy in Pisaeng's response. We then see her photograph in Pisaeng's house. Both the interview and the photograph are carefully curated representations of herself, just as she is trying to have Pisaeng maintain his own reputation (and by extension her own).
But then we get the truth of their relationship when she comes to visit. There is a growing sense of unease in this scene for me. On the surface, she portrays herself as quite supportive--she is accepting of her queer colleagues, she wants Pisaeng to be able to trust her and open up to her. For a second I wasn't sure if the sense of discomfort I was feeling was intentional or if the show was framing her as the good supportive parent archetype in a clumsy way. But the show is demonstrating the nuances between surface-level support and real support in a way that isn't just black or white and feels very real and very sickening.
She enters Pisaeng's home by herself, not waiting to knock and be let in. She then lets him know that she knows he's been somewhere he doesn't normally go (or maybe isn't really supposed to go). [edit: @bengiyo makes a really important point about surveillance in queer and marginalized communities that is very relevant here]. She doesn't wait for him to come out to her (though he already presumably did when he was 15) or wait for him to feel comfortable talking to her. She says he needs to come to her first before talking to anyone else, not out of wanting to be safe for him but wanting to manipulate him again. She makes it seem like she will support his "decision" but is more focused on what people will think of him if he is out.
It's interesting that this scene is followed immediately by Not and Pear, and Not asking if Pear thinks Kawi is gay. Kawi who is still just beginning to figure out his queerness and is already being labeled by outsiders and judged. Notably, there is no mention of Pisaeng in this conversation.
There was discussion last week surrounding Pisaeng's discovery and acceptance of his identity with the scenes at the bar but it's clear now that this process started a long time ago for Pisaeng. It wasn't even subconscious. By 15, he was already aware enough about his sexuality that his mom also knew, whether he actually came out to her or not. This isn't a new discovery for him, which recontextualizes the scenes in the bar and in front of the pride flag for me.
Coming out is not a one time event, it is a continuous process. And being in the closet is a spectrum.
The idea of Pisaeng going back into the closet hit really hard this week. Being out to some people, at least to his mom, at a relatively young age, and then going back into hiding hurts. Five years. I felt that. Even more so because she made him do so with loving words and expressions of concern.
So Pisaeng's visit to the bar wasn't necessarily about discovering his own queerness, but finally seeing other people's queerness out in the open, at least in a safe space. The pride flag a banner for all to see. And so now he knows that it is possible for him too.

for the ask 24 21 and 17
Thank you :)
24: what is your opinion on remakes of classic horror movies?
I'm not really a fan. There are some remakes that are pretty good, but I wish there were more remakes of movies that arent classics and could use a remake. Like movies that maybe had some flaws originally or didn't have enough of a budget to do what they wanted, etc. Most remakes of classic movies just aren't very good and they will be compared to the original constantly. And if the original is already beloved, the remake isn't going to be a better movie.
21: name the top five worst horror movies you've sat through.
Oooo, I've sat through some bad ones.
Dashcam - I'd say this would be in the top 5 worst ones because this was painful to sit through. If you haven't seen it, I don't recommend it unless you want to spend the entire movie thinking about how much you want the main character to die. She's the most annoying character in a movie ever. She sucks. The rest of the movie is also not that great imo. Which sucks because the director also made Host, which I think is great. But Dashcam is too chaotic, feels like an early draft than a finished movie and isn't nearly as fun or creepy as it's trying to be.
Evil Bong - yes I sat through the entirety of this movie. I found it on youtube and watched it at like 1.5x speed, and it still felt like it went on for too long. Obviously a movie titled Evil Bong was never going to be good, but it is even worse. Also I swear the soundtrack has to be the worst movie soundtrack of all time.
Wrong Turn 4 - despite what I said about the previous two, this is probably my least favourite movie ever. I do like that it's set during the winter and the gore is pretty good. I feel like the movie would be meh at best if it wasn't for one thing - there's a lesbian couple in the movie who is very clearly written and directed by a straight man. They're so sexualised and are shown like they're just dating each other for the men to like them. And I just hate it. I want to fistfight the director. The rest of the movie also sucks pretty badly, but the way that lesbians are portrayed in it is the worst for me.
Hostel - okay, objectively this isn't the top 5 worst movie I've seen, but I am a Hostel hater at heart. I already don't really like the premise of "people in eastern European country kill foreigners" because I am from an eastern european country. I've already heard a lot of bad opinions from people in other countries about eastern europe. And obviously it's not all great here, but I don't like the portrayal that we all can't wait to torture and kill any tourist that comes here. It just adds to the already many stupid viewpoints others have. Also the characters. They're so awful to watch. They say so many slurs in the first few minutes. And then later on the movie shows us one gay character, who is immediately a creep. And the women in this movie are like barely even shown as people. The actual torture stuff this movie is known for is fine. The effects are good and the scenes are fine. But I have a hard time rooting for the main character when he's a giant asshole to everyone. At that point I kinda want him to die already. So I'm not a fan of this movie. I truly think the only reason it's even as well known as it is is only because Tarantino produced it. Not because it's actually a good movie.
I guess the 5th objectively worst movie I've seen could be Aquaslash. I don't hate it nearly as much as the others, but it's not a very well made movie at all. It takes forever for anything to happen and then one thing happens and it ends. At least it's short.
17: do you own any horror merchandise?
I do! I have four horror movie tshirts - a Friday the 13th one, a Nightmare on Elm Street one, a Texas Chainsaw Massacre one and The Lost Boys one. (Ignore the fact that I don't iron my shirts)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also have this like knock off funko pop of Jason and Freddy that a friend gave me for Christmas ages ago. It's probably the coolest gift I've ever gotten.
Tumblr media
I've also got this jacket that has some pins and patches on it that are horror-related, but they were bought from etsy and aren't official merch. Same with this Saw necklace I have.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also have some stuff I've made myself, but that's not really the same

Why "Alien X-Tinction" Was The Best Possible Conclusion
(To The Ben 10 Franchise as a whole, as of Right Now)
In short, while the Ben 10 Reboot isn't without faults, "Alien X-Tinction" did everything it could to pay tribute to what came before it, and why the Ben 10 Reboot could even be anywhere near successful for it's intended audience and for modern age of Cartoon Network.
Tumblr media
*Obvious spoiler warning ahead.*
Main Reasons
To begin with the obvious, emphasis being made on the existence of the Omniverse (something I feel like the majority hadn't paid enough attention to during and after the last iteration) was important for several reasons. For instance, confirming what I've been saying all this time! And effectively knocking down certain misconceptions about unfinished or uncertain topics left behind in the previous show. So I really appreciated that.
It gave, at least me, a sense of closure, even though I feel Omniverse's final episode, "A New Dawn", had tried to do that, as well.
Anyway, in doing that, they brought back the original continuity, in honor of what the fans wanted, but the main focus was still on the three main characters (Ben, Gwen, and Max) - something that I've heard a lot of the fandom say was their favourite thing about the series when it first started: going on a family road trip with the occasion alien adventure.
Again, giving the people what they want, while remaining within the confines of what Cartoon Network or the higher ups probably directed them to do with the new series.
It's a compromise that satisfies everyone.
I also can't help but notice they included a limited amount of characters. I'd even say specifically the "fan favourites."
I bring this up because a lot of newer characters and character dynamics introduced in the later installations of the series weren't always well received. AKA, characters like Kai Green (especially her relationship with Ben), or even the way Gwen and Kevin were portrayed in everything following the OS (including their eventual romance).
As such, the special stuck to its roots and gave us something purely "Ben 10": action-packed and focusing on family bonds. Rather than including any other side themes people are divided on. Media like this is made for the people who will watch it, after all.
Notable Mentions
I don't know if anyone else picked up on this, but - characterization consistency with the previous shows! AF Ben was written decently serious like his "mature" self (as the fandom loves to praise him for being). And, UA Ben came in obviously much more sure of himself, which is also consistent with the transition from season three of Alien Force to his rise to fame during Ultimate Alien.
Tumblr media
Speaking of characterization, this was AF Ben's reaction to Alternate Max's criticism of reboot Ben, calling him out for being, as he said, "a stubborn brat." Personally I think that's a little harsh, but regardless, it's almost as if he knows what that's like, or something. Interesting touch on the producers' part.
Tumblr media
Even if they didn't use a whole lot of aliens, the animators did also go the extra mile in recreating the previous designs for the each of the aliens the alternate Bens used. And, some of the transformation scenes from the previous shows too, as a call back for those who might remember.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Things like this make it clear to me that the producers did their research in the production of new Ben 10 content.
Responding to Criticism
Since the reboot is what it is, I'll expect it to get a whole lot of criticism anyway. But the most common complaints I've heard so far are regarding UA Ben not turning into any ultimate aliens, and the use of Alien X's powers being underwhelming.
In the interest of trying to see what the producers might have had in mind, I thought that, since a younger version of himself was present, UA Ben using the ultimate feature would spoil the near future for AF Ben, and therefore might change the path he takes moving forward. Hence him using aliens from the UA era, like Amphibian, but not ultimates.
I would argue it was done to maintain consistency in the original continuity, as well as the way the Omniverse was set up to work.
As for the alternate evil Ben's "nerfed" use of Alien X, well, I've got a theory about that too. First of all, he's not Ben Prime. He's clearly been through a lot of hardship, and it's taken a toll on his mental state, outlook on the hero life, moral compass, and general wellbeing.
Tumblr media
His whole plan was created out of revenge and anger. He wasn't thinking straight. How can you expect him to ultimately defeat everyone with that kind of handicap? Even if he had god powers - he was using them though a cloud of negative human emotions.
Powerscaling isn't really my thing, but I'm sure there was something more he could do if he was seriously set on accomplishing his goal without clouded judgement.
As for myself, my only criticism is regarding why they couldn't just draw the UAF jacket and the Ultimatrix right. It's upside down for...seemingly no reason, lol. But I can look past it, I guess. It was just cool to see Ben Prime again.
Tumblr media
All three of him, that is.

Shez being portrayed as someone who can’t help Claude through his trust issues unlike By.leth, when Shez is actually shown trying to help Claude while all By.leth does is 👁👁 and magics away Claude’s (everyone’s) issues… that shit hurts as someone who likes Shez :( Especially when I really can’t see what By.leth did in 3H that was so impactful for Claude that Shez just can’t do, when Claude’s the lord that so obviously needs/needed By.leth the least.
Like on one hand I do like that Shez can’t quite get through to Claude and how much both of them clearly want to be friends with each other but can’t quite close that distance, since it’s a relationship that’s both interesting in itself and fairly unique when it comes to Shez’s relationships in general (and removes the annoying player pandering - really lets Shez feel like a character)… but then I remember that people are just going to use this as fuel as to why By.leth is the best thing since sliced bread when they literally don’t do anything on a personal level for Claude and I just :/
yeah i don't really like seeing the negativity on shez either. i think he's a really fun character and im enjoying his interactions with the rest of the cast a lot. there's a lot of aspects to his personality that i'd like to explore further! and there's much less player pandering from what i've experienced so far, which is a huge plus for me. i haven't played gw yet but it sounds like shez and claude have an interesting dynamic there - somewhat unique, like you say, for having the relationship between the lord and the protag be a little difficult, with more trial and error than what we usually see in the 3h games. i get the feeling that that might have been what the writers were trying to go for in throuses with by/leth and claude? and it's relatively well-executed in the first few chapters but then eventually the by/leth focus still comes into play pretty hard, especially after the timeskip, and claude's distrust and his resulting apprehensive, distant stance towards by/leth peter out pretty rapidly. which is fine except it isn't even bc by/leth is really doing anything, the story just happens and claude learns new things and decides to trust by/leth now. unfortunately people disliking protags and being negative about it is just what being in this fandom is like. i mean, i try to be fair about it and i try to tag my posts correctly, but i can't say that im not being negative abt by/leth a lot. and there's plenty of people who don't do anyone the courtesy of hiding their thoughts behind tags and polite words, and that's not fun for by/leth enjoyers either. but then i really dislike how a huge part of the fandom hypes on by/leth and their importance to every character and their mum and then turn around and call shez a bland knock-off, or cold and unfeeling, or say that the characters suffer for shez being around instead of by/leth simply bc shez is a different character with a different relationship to the lords and a different role in the story as a whole. especially if you think that by/leth doesn't do a whole lot for most characters at all. and claude is definitely the lord who got hit with the least player pandering, so it's even more of a drag to see people use shez as an excuse to over-emphasise by/leth's importance to him. there's not much to do but try to ignore people who say that kind of stuff and curate your fandom experience as much as you can.

11 for walter, 13, and 16 for wilson? no idea if u want to specify muses but i did ✨anyway✨
Tumblr media
Canon Questionnaire
[ Thank you sky and thank you for specifying the muses!! It definitely make it easier on me since I have quite a few ;w; I put it under a read more cause I got a little lengthy!
11. Are there some things you dislike about how the show/series/etc. portray the character you have picked up? If so, what?
I mean, I'm sure there's something? But off the top of my head I honestly can't think of anything, as Walter, Willow, and Wendy are tied for my favorite character in DST! Even my normal thought of "I wish we knew more about this character" isn't really applicable because honestly, that's just all of DST isn't it??
We know so little about everything and everyone and some people might find that annoying and I definitely understand that, but I do think it's part of the fun in terms of coming up with our own thoughts and stuff, especially when it comes to RP! Walter is honestly just...a very good boy your honor. I am picking him up and adopting him as we speak.
13. Are there any other characters from the franchise you’d like to play?
Ah, this is actually a question I've debated about! See, I'm very active on discord and me and my loved ones do lots of DST related rps. In me and my partner's threads we often share the burden of who plays who, but my other two friends play just their OCs and I play every single survivor as they're needed, on top of Charlie and the monsters. I don't mind, I actually enjoy it, but because of that I've thought about bringing more muses here and the only thing stopping me is I feel like I have too many kjenafjka;;
Out of everyone, I'd love to play Wormwood, Wurt, Wortox or Webber! They're on my list of favorite characters as well and I genuinely love them very much!
16. What is your personal ship bias for your canon character?
Oh boy...outing myself here huh? Wilson is one of those characters I multiship with and I think that's partially because he's very malleable to multiple scenarios and many of his ship dynamics just...work, or if it's because I've been into DS/T since it first released? It used to be my special interest for about six years alongside another game: an indie Russian horror game called Knock Knock. You might have seen the character from said game listed on my muse list, and that's just because I've had the crossover for DST/Knock Knock since the games existed and well...it's embarrassing to say I shipped Wilson and the Lodger for the longest time.
Anyway, in terms of actual other in game characters, I did always see Wilson as LGBTQ+ in some form or another (partially the reason why he's estranged from his family) and I think I would have to say Willowson and Wes x Wilson are my big two(I dont know the name for the latter though). Despite the previously mentioned biases, I am always opening to doing ship threads of any kind with Wilson minus Maxwil, just for personal reasons ^^"" ]

I Talk About Bakugou Because I'm Bored
Bakugou. He's best boy. My son.
No, actually, I'mma explain in as few words as possible why I absolutely adore his character.
Oops this got long.
Okay, so it's the first chapter/episode (I'll go off the anime because it's practically identical and more widespread) and it opens with Deku narrating. This is to establish an immediate connection between the audience and the main protagonist; it conveys how important Deku is. Plenty of shows do this so it's not really a big deal, just common practise. HOWEVER, the second character we hear speak is Bakugou, who is insulting Deku.
This is framed in a way that's supposed to make us dislike him, and continues all throughout the first episode. He's presented as a four year old trying to beat up our main character, and then his next scene is being ten years older and Still Trying To Beat Up Our Main Character. This makes him seem rotten to the core, as his character hasn't changed whatsoever in that time, and as an audience we know very little information about him.
On top of that, within this first episode he is deliberately made to have no redeeming qualities, nothing that could make him sympathetic in any way. The Sludge Villain fiasco isn't until ep2, and in this one he literally tells Deku to kill himself, reaching peak middle school bully. He destroys something the Main Protagonist clearly treasures and is privelaged in every conceivable way, even his (later obviously intense) desire to be a hero is simplified to monetary gain, with "I'll be even richer than All Might himself!!!" (or something to that effect). Later on I'd explain such a line to be a result of young Baku trying to quantify his future success, something he never mentions again after the Sludge Villain.
In these first twenty minutes of the anime, he's been absolutely dragged through the mud. Not only is he this arrogant, selfish, mean bully, he's also the sort of bully we can all relate to having, making him even more dislikable! It's so easy for an audience to write him off as irredeemable almost immediately.
But then comes ep2. Seasoned anime watchers likely brush over some small details, but the fact that the Sludge Villain attack happens when Bakugou is 14? Wow. At this point no one likes him, and to many people seeing this happen could come across as a sort of karmic punishment, deserving and therefore less sympathetic. And so Horikoshi succeeds in continuing to make him dislikable but also adding depth to this character who so clearly believed he was invincible.
However, any such depth is pretty much ignored by the audience. I've watched many reactions, and, at this point, due to Bakugou's sub par personality, most people don't care about what happened upon first viewing. To be fair, it's treated as background until Deku steps in and proves himself a hero, at which point he's promised a quirk and That's all anyone can think about.
(also there's some symbolism in this ep because Bakugou and Deku were both attacked by the Sludge Villain and saved by All Might, showing they are actually equals in character and have a lot in common.)
Anyway, so for the first few episodes no one gives two shits about Bakugou because he's meant to be dislikable. He's set up to be as bad as possible without needing to be arrested/never being redeemable. Yet, he's also not clearly set up to be redeemed whatsoever. Let me explain:
Quick break from bnha to head over to atla, Zuko is the perfect redemption arc. And some of that can be attributed to his presentation in the first few episodes: where he's portrayed as antagonistic but still honourable, and has a tragic past. He's the sort of character you know isn't actually bad at heart. But Bakugou hasn't got any tragic back story to speak of, and certainly isn't honourable, so we don't expect a redemption.
That's so interesting to me, because it basically means his character could go in any direction but most shounen fans expect him to be the typical rival. He's mean now and will be mean later, nbd. Will probably betray Deku in order to gain more power. That sort of stuff.
But, as the first season progresses, we're shown that Bakugou (on top of all of his anger issues and cruelty) is also so incredibly determined, to the point where it's harmful. A lot of people, even in season three, expect him to accept the LoV's offer, but as early as ep7 he's shown to be dedicated to being the best on his own. He utterly fails at pretending to be a villain, and doesn't manage to work with his "villain" teammate. When the USJ attack rolls around, he fights alongside Deku.
I feel like I've just word babbled for a while so here's a picture:
Tumblr media
Isn't that adorable? Anyway, I continue.
Okay, recap: Bakugou is presented initially as bad and in no way sympathetic, but throughout season one some of his good qualities do get highlighted.
The Sports Festival is probably when I was most on edge about who my favourite character was. Todoroki vs Deku vs Bakugou was a whole internal debate. We all know who eventually won though. Point is, this is the first time Bakugou is supposed to seem likeable.
Like, yes, he helped out at the USJ, but he was still reckless and angry about it. In this arc his flaws stop seeming so antagonistic (even though he's now more at odds with 1-A than he's ever been) and are framed humorously; if you think about it, the only times you're not rooting for Bakugou in this whole arc is when you're laughing at his antics. He stops seeming like a massive unforgivable bully and becomes a secondary threat behind Todoroki, even though he ultimately wins the Festival.
One of the first things he does in the season is tell people messing with their class go away, albeit bluntly, and is then complimented for it by Kirishima, who is the nicest guy in the class! No longer are we supposed to necessarily dislike him, as he's being developed after all of season 1. Him saying "I'm gonna win" as his speach is expected by the audience and laughed at- absolutely nobody watching was scared he'd hurt Deku in some terrible way due to it.
The cavalry battle demonstrates that he can work in a team after some adjustment time, and he gets his own antagonist (Monoma) who we all root against! This makes us closer to his character, as in a way we have a common enemy.
Then obviously the single battles are super interesting, his one against Uraraka especially turning people to his side. Since Aizawa, who as an audience we trust after his actions at the USJ, backs up Bakugou's actions, we accept them as the right thing to have done. Especially since Bakugou later calls Uraraka "not fragile", demonstrating that he can respect people and actually isn't as discriminatory as his earlier actions against Deku might lead one to believe. Everything about this fight is pure gold.
The rest of his fights are also very interesting, so let me go off on a little tangent. He's the only person to 1) be uninjured by the end of the festival (he did win tho so...) and 2) he's the only person to win all of his fights by forcing his opponent into submission. He knocks out Uraraka and Kirishima, goes to knock out Tokoyami but has him give up instead and then knocks out Todoroki! His fights are so much more violent than the others, who are primarily trying to win by pushing their opponent out of the ring or by immobilising them, which could make him come across as more aggressive (which he is). But it actually works for his character considering the way he demonstrates respect is by giving his all, therefore in order to show he cares about these fights he has to go for absolutely decimating the person against him.
Also, interesting side note to all that, out of our main three festival contenders, Bakugou is the only one who actually needs to use the festival for its intended purpose: impressing scouts. Todoroki, as the son of Endeavour, is already known throughout the hero community as a promising young talent, and could even get the No2 hero to coach him if he so wished. Deku even says himself that he doesn't necessarily need to get scouted when All Might is already teaching him. Out of the three Bakugou has the most incentive to actually show off here, no guilt/baggage required.
Anyway blah Stain arc blah. Bakugou picks Jeanist to intern with, which many might think makes him shallow. Their quirks are in no way similar and their images are almost diametrically opposing, and Bakugou only chose him because he's such a highly ranked hero. However, I believe the creators crafted this pairing in order to convey how good of a future hero Bakugou promises to be. BJ, in these episodes, is all talk. He's such a superficial hero that, in order to rectify Bakugou's foul personality, he gives him a haircut. He demonstrates the arrogant nature that Stain hates so much. Meanwhile, Bakugou ignores him and is still arrogant in his own way, obviously, but not for anything other than his own pride. He, when you break it down, spends all of his time working towards a genuinely good goal, just to prove to himself that he's worthy- no desire for fans or fame in there, he wants success but isn't actually looking for any of the perks that come with it. This, imo, makes him better than BJ. Also, Bakugou never actually says he is working with BJ due to his rank and could be doing it because their quirks botha require so much time, practice and effort.
Okay, so, now for the final exams. This is where I decided he was my favourite. He works with Deku etc and proves to the audience that he can work with him and won't necessarily become a villain, plus All Might lets loose a little and proves he too can be violent and mean.
What I really love is about ep24 s2 is actually the bit that makes a lot of people chuckle: where Bakugou bites AM's hand. This kid has been giving his absolute all, putting every ounce of strength into beating his idol, because, lbh, his self worth depends on his success here, until he literally cannot raise his arms to punch anymore. And yet, he still refuses to go down, despite every odd against him. Something about that tenacity is just so incredible to me.
It's almost 1am, let's have another break, shall we?

Idk I thought it was funny when it came onto my dash.
Btw, it's now I wish I knew how to hide most of a post lololol.
Season three is just Baku's season, ngl. Like,,, so many of his Stans got their start here, and it's not hard to tell why. A big reason why Bakugou felt irredeemable was because he had no reason to be so mean, but the narrative makes up for that by then putting him through so many bad experiences.
There's been a million metas on why he's so perfect in this season, and this is already abhorrently long, but ah well.
Okay so he's captured by the League through no fault of his own. As the audience when we find out Bakugou is missing we immediately think he's done the dumb thing and gone off on his own, but it's quickly revealed that he's already been kidnapped. Tokoyami is also taken, cementing that the LoV are looking for kids with some villainous feature, but also showing that their perception of what makes a child villainous is skewed, since we know Tokoyami is good.
At the hideout Baku is entirely restrained and silent, so clearly against his will. If we remember every other time he's been restrained (so goddamn many) we'll think back to the Sludge Villain, finding out Deku had a quirk, after his *win* against Todoroki and his internship with BJ. In this way, it's obvious to tell that this is all a Bad experience for him, as those were all very negative times in his life. There's no way he'll join them.
None of the pros even consider it a possibility. Aizawa defends him against the press (and, once again, we like Aizawa! So we trust him) and none of his classmates think he could be evil, they're all primarily concerned for his safety. Even BJ, who insinuated that Baku could easily become a villain, doesn't appear to believe he'll turn down that path.
Also Baku is pretty cool when he fights of the villain like I'm ngl.
And then, when he sees All Might? And his face screws up? With his lip trembling? It's undercut with a joke but he's so obviously just a scared/relieved kid in that moment and it's gut wrenching to remember that.
It's really getting late and I'm at 11% here so speed round through the provisional licence exam.
He can tell Shindou is two faced
Even though he's blunt he's still got the instincts and smarts of a hero
The class looks up to him
Aizawa has a lot of favouritism for this child, y'all, how did I not notice this?
His failure here is intrinsic to his character growth as it means he hits absolute rock bottom and we can move onto:
Deku Vs Kacchan 2
Where to even start. The guilt and pain he experiences has made me tear up several times just from thinking about them, and that GODDAMN VOICE CRACK AS HE YELLS nope it hurts too bad.
It's sort of the culmination of every emotional issue Bakugou has exhibited throughout the series. He can't find self worth without constant praise and pressures himself to be unimaginably perfect, to a self destructive point. He has no support system in place to help him with these issues. His anger stops being repetitive/funny/annoying and is finally, clearly shown to be more damaging to himself than to anyone else, as he feels the only way he can deal with his stress and hurt is by lashing out at those who try to help him.
In this fight we also learn why Deku, even though he's Baku's victim, still looks up to him so much. And the whole dynamic is so perfect I might cry rn.
I am annoyed, though, that further than that Baku's mental health has been pretty much entirely ignored for 200 manga chapters. Probably my only complaint about him.
.
.
.
At an entirely selfish level, I can relate to Bakugou. Obviously I'm not a teenage boy with explosion powers who bullies people in order to feel any self worth, but the high standards for himself? The pain at any failures? Being told through childhood how great you are only for it to be torn away in your teens? That's all so painfully relatable to me, and so I feel an even deeper connection with his character.
One last picture to finish off:

So I found out the other day that my brother (past abuser, currently toxic) isn't just moving back home for the winter break between his college semesters. It's his last semester and he doesn't have any classes, hes just student teaching... so he's moving back in permanently. Lowkey wanna die. I confronted him about not knocking before coming into my room (bc I have the courtesy to knock before entering his).
Here's a rough approximation of what went down
Me: there's a sign on my door that says to knock
Him: expecting me to read it is *laugh* generous
Me: I have the courtesy to knock before entering your room, can't you do the same for me?
Him: expecting me to be courteous is *laugh* generous
Me: can I ask you to knock before coming into my room?
Him: expecting me to remember is *laugh* generous
And I just
What the FUCK y'know?
If I had any cash, I'd enact my old plans of leaving the house, walking to the nearby hardware store, buying a lock, and installing it.
And he just
ASSUMES I'm letting him past the threshold? Like, I'll have the door open and be next to or in front of him, kind of keeping him there, but then he's like "I'm coming to pet your cat" and he just walks on in and pets my cat. Like, we have other cats. And he doesn't pet cats super well and it's a whole thing in and of itself but I hate it.
And my bed is a bunk bed (top bed) and on the side right by the ladder is a built in desk where I keep my laptop. I was playing The Sims and while he was on my ladder petting my cat (he was on my bed), he just LEANED OVER TO LOOK AT MY LAPTOP! He told me he was wondering what I was playing because it "sounded different"! All because he turned off the music on his sims. Like???? And that gives you the right to look at my computer?
He's done it with my phone before. I wasn't even aware he was watching my screen, we were both in the backseat of a car. I was playing Pokemon Go and he said smth about what was on the screen and I freaked bc wtf why are you looking over my shoulder?! He had his own phone, it's not like he was unable to otherwise entertain himself! He said smth like "the pretty colors attracted my vision" and he's complimented my nail polish before in a similar fashion and like... something about it just upsets me? Like, you're not a magpie, shut the fuck up!!!
I heard the kid behind me in math class one day mention smth about the cooking video I was watching once (and then later about something else on my phone) and I was much more okay with it. The second time, the girl next to him kind of got onto him about not looking over my shoulder (which I appreciated, it's nice to know she's aware of boundaries and not afraid to call him out. He didn't listen, but still.) That was so much easier to deal with?
Like, now that I know he (my brother lmao) does that, I'll turn down my brightness so it's hard even for me to see my screen, just so he can't read it from an angle.
I'm never even doing anything bad, I just hate the fact that he thinks he can insert himself.
Sort of off topic, when I'm on the phone in the car with my mom, occasionally she'll ask what I'm doing and I just say something super generic like "scrolling through [x social media]". But like, yesterday she asked me WHILE I WAS SCROLLING THROUGH THE TRAUMA TAG and like 👀👀!!
Anyway, I just hate how nosy my family is. The only person who doesn't do that is my dad. He's the only one who knocks and waits for an answer. He's the only one who's expressed sympathy for me that James was going to be home for long periods of time (previously, not now). He's a bit of a boomer sometimes, he thinks really grossly Out There shock value statements are funny (I think it's shock value humor, but he makes no attempt to portray that he's joking and he defends himself like he believes it when I get onto him bc I don't know if he's joking or not), and he sometimes makes minor invasions of personal space, but he's probably my favorite.
I get on fairly well with my mom and brother, but I think part of it is because I keep so much to myself. My mom and I suck at communicating with each other and even if we were vibing like all day, if some minor frustration that neither of us can fix comes up, we're at each other's throats.
My brother and I usually spend the most time together when he's driving me somewhere (for whatever reason). He plays his music and I stay on my phone. He talks and I sometimes converse with him, but other times he just starts spewing his opinion about the "awful" people on the road or in public and I just nod and stay silent. I'm not about to tell him he's a huge cunt who needs to stop being such a judgemental whore when he's just as terrible.

*learns to never trust kids again, EVER
Rantaro Amami
*he understands kids? he has too many little siblings to not understand
*most kids LOVE him. he was so ready for this. easy cash and a bigger ego? this is what his dreams are made of!
*....or so he thought
*this child.... was a sugar crazy BRAT and BULLY
*it wasn't his fault the kid's mom asked to not feed her sweets! but the kid wouldn't listen
*if she didn't get what she wanted, she dropped to the floor, pitching the loudest fit amami's ever witnessed in his LIFE
*this isn't where it ends. once she gets over throwing her tantrum, she starts hitting him in the head

*"could you put the same amount of effort into your outfit" RUDE
*kaito went to claim what designer brands he was wearing until he realized he wasn't wearing any
*"you're so poor! do you go shopping at second hand stores or what?" Bingo
*kaito's ego has never been this deflated before
*for the next three hours, all he heard was a snotty 8 year old talk about all the expensive things she gets from her mom
*it was all worth it! that mother paid him so much he considered buying from somewhere other than a second hand store
Keebo
*he doesn't know anything about watching a kid okay
*seriously? he googles the behaviors of a kid five minutes before he actually started the job he's NOT READY
*the second he gets there the kid was knocking on him
*the kid was more so mesmerized than being MEAN to keebo, really
*however.... his Awe led to a few comments that keebo Obviously wouldn't like
*"so robots ARE real! is the a possibility of you going wild?" KID
*"n-no, those movies with robots don't portray us right! i won't turn on you!" "oh, lame"

*beyond that point, he was just uninterested. he left keebo alone completely after that
*keebo felt bad about the whole thing but hey he has MONEY
Ryoma Hoshi
*....what
*he doesn't get kids, and he doesn't want to. they make fun of his height
*this kid... this kid was just Mean
*she tried anything and everything to try to get to him but she couldn't BREAK HIM
*"you're really short!" "i know" "your breath stinks!" "yours is worse"
*he doesn't know him being unphased makes her More Determined to Hurt Him

*50% love the tall burly man, 50% run away screaming
*so when gonta thought he was bracing himself for the worst... he really wasn't
*this girl wasn't even as mean as some of the other kids but gonta was Broken
*she'd make fun of his hands and feet, saying they were way too big
*and then she'd talk badly about how big he is, acting like he's so intimidating and scary because of his size
*gonta took it seriously and full heartedly tried to make her comfortable with him, Key Word Is Tried
*upon seeing how soft this man is SHE STARTED BASHING HIM FOR IT
*gonta Didn't know how to cope she wasn't listening to a word he said and he just wanted her to like him
*he went home with a fat wad of cash but a big big pout on his face
Korekiyo Shinguuji
*take one good look at this man and tell me you think he wouldn't get annihilated by some 5 year old. you can't
*kids tend to either adjust to new things or completely reject them and in most cases, kids tend to Reject him
*all he wants to do is tell these kids stories and they come for him COMPLETELY
*he's heard it All. he's just lucky he isn't too emotional because he'd be a mess Anytime he met a kid
*this particular kid.... dear atua
*he wasn't even the meanest kid korekiyo's dealt with, but HE'S STILL MEAN
*"your hair's too long, time for a haircut" "EXCUSE ME"
*korekiyo now has a single lock of hair about to his shoulder blade. The Fuck Kid
*the kid ATE at his face mask. poor korekiyo can never catch a Break
*frankly, he just viewed the day as another story to tell, so he wasn't too mad about it in general
