Also sorry to be in an increasingly pissy mood today but I'm also tired of everyone saying every game should have the popular feature du jour

a shitload of incorrect quotes
Tech: *clicks pen* Crosshair: *clicks pen in response* Wrecker: Stop that. Tech: Stop what? Wrecker: You’re talking about me in Morse code! Tech: Yes, that’s what we doing. In our very limited time, we took a class on a very outdated, very unnecessary form of communication just so we could talk about you in front of you. Congrats, you figured us out! *later* Crosshair, to Omega: That’s actually exactly what we were doing.
Hunter: What’s something you guys are better than Crosshair at? Wrecker: Mario Kart. Omega: Yeah, all video games except first-person shooters and The Last Of Us. Tech: Emotional vulnerability.
Tech: If you took a shot for every time you made a bad decision, how drunk would you be? Hunter: Maybe a bit tipsy? Echo: Drunk. Wrecker: Wasted. Crosshair: Dead.
Echo, setting down a card: Ace of spades. Tech, pulling out an Uno card: +4. Crosshair, pulling out a Pokémon card: Absol, I choose you! Hunter, trembling: What are we playing?!
Wrecker: What is love? Hunter: An emotional minefield. Tech: A neurochemical reaction. Omega: Baby don't hurt me.
Crosshair: What starts with F and ends with Uck? Echo: No it doesn't. Tech: Firetruck! Omega: FUCK!
Omega: I wish I could control wasps and bees to sting my enemies. Hunter: You’re too young to have enemies. Omega: You don’t even know.
Crosshair: If I die, you can have what little I own. Hunter: Wait. What do you mean "if" you die? Crosshair: My unending existence is fuelled by pure spite, that of which the painful experiences of life have rendered me full. Hunter: Hunter: *Sigh* Let me call your therapist again.
Nexu: I’m not a doctor, I’m a medic. Wrecker: What’s the difference then? Nexu: Well doctors actually save lives, medics just make you feel more comfortable as you die. Crosshair: Note to self; never get shot.
Crosshair: Hand me the people opener. Hunter: ... Hunter: Pardon? Crosshair, annoyed: The people opener! Just hand it to me! Hunter, stressed: WHAT THE FUCK IS A PEOPLE OPENER? Crosshair: How do you not know what a people opener is? Its pointy- you know? With a handle? Hunter: Knife. It's called a knife.
Omega, hugging Crosshair: Do you feel any better? Crosshair: I feel much better now that you're here with me. *Hunter walks in* Crosshair: I feel half better.
Hunter: Would you rather kill Tech, or— Echo: Yes, kill them. Hunter: I didn’t say the other thing— Echo: I don’t need to hear it. Tech: …I’m feeling a little unsafe.
Benji, to cadet Crosshair: Oh my stars you are so cute and small! Crosshair: *proceeds to kick him in the shin and run away* Hunter, walking past: Rule number 1, don't call Crosshair cute or small.
Hunter: Omega is at that very special age where a kid only has one thing on their mind. Crosshair: Murder? Omega: Murder.
Hunter: How high are you? Crosshair: 6'4". Tech: No, he's asking what drugs are you on. Crosshair: Oh, antidepressants, why?
Crosshair: Hey, do you know the password to Hunter’s computer? Omega: Fuck you, Crosshair. Crosshair: Hey!! Omega: No, you misunderstood, the password is "fuckyouCrosshair". Crosshair: Oh, no numbers? Not very safe.
Omega: In my defense, I was left unsupervised. Echo: Wasn’t Crosshair with you? Crosshair: In my defense, I was also left unsupervised.
Tech: I will find us a ride. Tech: If you two can manage to not kill each other while I'm gone. Omega: Oh, please. We're not children. *Tech leaves* Omega, casually: ...Eat shit and die. Crosshair, also casually: Yes, fuck you.
Omega: Are you the big spoon or the little spoon? Crosshair: I'm a knife. Wrecker, from across the room: He's the little spoon.
Crosshair: Fun Fact! The average person will walk by 36 murderers in their lifetime. Echo: I like how this is a "fun" fact. Hunter: It's fun because they didn't decide to murder you.

What I think Violetta and Soy Luna character’s favorite animes are*
*I am only going from animes I myself have seen or are familiar with. I know for a fact that a LOT of animes were popular in Latam that logically the characters should have been familiar with and possibly would have fitted better as their favorite. However, there is a lot of animes I have seen/am familiar with that I know was popular in latam, too (Candy Candy especially). And the ones that weren’t popular there that I bring up… well, let’s just say it was just like with a lot of us, they found it later in life and was like ”omg where has this been all my life” and watched it on a pirate site.
Violetta: Hello! Sandybell. She got very inspired by Sandybell making a garden for her (supposedly) dead mother and she wanted to do it too. She also liked the way Sandybell traveled across Europe, the way she also did.
Luna: Sailor Moon. How can she not, it’s moon themed /j I also think Luna really saw herself in Usagi and appreciated there was a main character that was clumsy, often late, ditzy and didn’t get the best grades just like her, and how despite that still could kick ass and save the world.
Francesca: Lady Oscar. Ok this was kinda inspired by Lodo herself posting a photo with a Lady Oscar T-shirt, and some time later answering an ask about periods with ”think about Lady Oscar! She also had her period under all of those tight suits and armor, and she could still be a badass!”. It was also kinda inspired by me knowing just how fucking popular Lady Oscar was in Italy… but yeah I also feel like Fran was very fascinated with it.
Nina: Candy Candy. I think Nina most of all was fascinated with the history aspects, especially as they reached the WWI parts. But she also loved how Candy seemed to experience so much hardships, and yet still could keep going and be so strong. It felt very inspiring, especially as her parents were fighting in the background. Things will get better.
Camila: Oniisama e. She found this anime when she was a little older, and goes around bragging about how "no one knows about it except for her". She loved how basically every character was a lesbian (at least, they were in her head), and she called them cowards every time they "forced" them into hetero relationships. But she also just loved all the female friendships in general and got slightly annoyed whenever they focused on any boy.
Simón: I think also Sailor Moon, because I think he had a crush on Tuxedo Mask and him and Luna played that they were Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask a lot when they were kids. But, I think he also really liked Pokémon.
Naty: The Moomins anime. As she grew up in Spain, she got the castellano dub and got so surprised when she moved to Argentina and found out there was a latino dub they had there instead. Anyway, she really loved the whole atmosphere and vibes of the moomins and wished she could live in that utopia.
Ámbar: I think as a child she was only allowed to watch Candy Candy, as Sharon had seen it herself as a child and approved of it (I feel like Sharon had a list of pre-approved kids shows and movies Ámbar could watch), but then once she grew older she discovered Revolutionary Girl Utena. And she just fell in love with it. She has rewatched it so many times, always finding new ways to interpret the metaphors and allegories. She also has some deep emotions about and she didn't realize until much later why she felt so strongly about it...
Ludmila: Immediately I'm like... Starzinger... because it's a space adventure. I do not have much else to go from this lmao (because I have not at all properly watched the anime, just random swedubbed clips). However, it also feels like Ludmila's vibe.
Ramiro: He is a big Pokémon boy. I literally imagine him running around the school yard as a kid pretending to be James from Team Rocket. I can see him being into One Piece, too.
Leon: I don't know why, but Digimon. It just seems like his vibe idk.
Jim: Pretty Cure, the first show specifically. I think she always wanted a best friend she could be a magical girl with <3
Diego: Silver Fang. I know this anime was only popular and even translated in very few countries, but I believe Diego managed to find it somehow (maybe a fansubbed version on an old pirate site that no longer exists) and just thought it was the most edgy thing ever. But then he got super scared of bears for years due to it.
Yam: Oh, Revolutionary Girl Utena, but she also has made it her mission to watch every sapphic and sapphic-coded animes ever. She's also a big fan of underrated ones like Oniisama e. She has also specifically only watched season 3 and season 5 of Sailor Moon. So, I think she kind of really switches a favorite, but I believe RGU just hit her the most.
Andres: Hamtaro lmao. No more explanation.
Jazmin: I think Jazmin thought Totally Spies was an anime and no one ever corrected her that it's French-Canadian, so now that's always her answer when asked.
These are all the characters I could come up with something for x)

Update on me actually pushing through my discomfort of seeing Team Rocket like this and watching Best Wishes:
After BW022 (when they also get back their white uniforms) it actually gets better again. Not as good as other seasons of course and some of their appearances are so short that they still suck just as much, but in between we at least get some personality and jokes
I'm honestly on the fence if I'm actually sad that they didn't air that little finale after BW022 because it causes me physical pain to watch Jessie James and Meowth do actual evil, semi-successful things - so what if we missed out on everything they worked for. Ash would have stopped them anyway.
When you ignore that for some stupid reason Ash got worse in pokémon battles and a bit more stupid again, I very much enjoy Ash's portrayal. Especially in contrast to the two new companions (bc especially Brock and May and Dawn were also hyper empathetic) he clearly is THE special empathetic oneTM now, who always cares about pokémon so much and understands their feelings so easily.. Very sweet, I like it
Ignoring the annoying unfunny "such a child" I'm totally in love with Iris' character actually. Feral wood girl, knows every plant and can read the wind, will fight pokémon with bare hands, 10/10
Cilan feels a bit ... off sometimes? but I still like him, he gets so endearingly enthusiastic about the things he's interested it, I can relate haha
BW026 has a fucking amazing Team Rocket portrayal. Especially considering that in the episodes before and after they are so bland and evil. This time that they're in danger I for once thought - will the twerps actually help them? With all the shit they've done lately? The stakes were high, and the episode played expertly on it, having such long dramatic moments of tension where it actually seemed like Team Rocket was gonna die. And then the fucking silence when Jessie let go and suddenly -
Tumblr media
Hngngnghfgnfng. And also Jessie and James being worried about and saving Meowth, and James saving Cilan, yep that episode was just right
Otherwise watching the anime is still pretty hard of course. The quality is just lower, the dialogue (esp in English, I always notice when i quickly rewatch a scene as dub) is often really bland and boring and hard to follow, the fights annoy me esp because Ash's and all other pokémon are really bad at battling so far ?? And also his rival (Shootie, i can't be bothered to google the english name rn) is so fucking annoying. Paul at least was only dismissive of Ash, but Shootie is actively mean to him, I do not like that
Oh, but I like Oshawott a lot lmao

i MUST send you descole for that ask game of course. also dante from the devil may cry series (set in australia), akutagawa AND chuuya bsd, and the one and only ice pokemon ranger. ily :3
Thank you my dearest friend I owe you my life
Putting a read more out of consideration for regular people. Involves a lot of me projecting my being aroace onto various things
Descole
First impression: Fancy man. Has a cool outfit.
Impression now: :)
Favorite moment: The deleted cutscene from Azran Legacy in the Nest where Layton descends with the pipe, which had more emotion and better animation than the final one in game
Idea for a story: the entire dmc x pl au where he became friends with vergil and a whole bunch of drama happens
Unpopular opinion: He looks just as good with short hair as long hair and more people should draw him with short hair
Favorite relationship: vergil devil may cry
Favorite headcanon: He likes his tea with honey. Also, he and his wife (who I named Rose) are both ace and their daughter was adopted, partially because he understood what it was like to lose parents and how what would mean for someone to care about you.
Dante from Devil May Cry (Set in Australia)
First impression: I actually genuinely do not remember, my first impression was shaped by what my friend had told me
Impression now: I like him
Favorite moment: Maybe the time in DMC3 that he sneezed and his shop fell apart immediately behind him. Also putting on the jacket in the most unnecessarily extra way possible
Idea for a story: I really wanted a scenario in the dmc x pl au where he and the professor met each other too at some kind of demon involving mystery where they both got asked to come deal with it
Unpopular opinion: Not sure if I have one for him!
Favorite relationship: With Lady, Trish, Patty, I really wish we got more actual canon interactions with actual meaning
Favorite headcanon: Not sure again
Akutagawa BSD
First impression: Killing violence guy
Impression now: Baby boy. baby. deserves so much better
Favorite moment: When he's fighting the big bad of the current arc and he carries half the battle. Good internal thoughts
Idea for a story: I made him a pokemon au where [spoiler] gets partially subverted, but he ends up in a different timeline and has amnesia and a lot of deja vu feelings. There is action and drama. Will he manage to grab hold of those memories that he feels barely escaping his grasp? Will it lead to an existential crisis?
Unpopular opinion: He does not have romantic feelings for Atsushi, sorry shin soukoku shippers I am a projecting aromantic
Favorite relationship: Sorry again to any shin soukoku shippers but Akutagawa's most important relationship is not with Atsushi, it is actually with his sister. More siblings content please.
Favorite headcanon: He is Not Neurotypical
Chuuya BSD
First impression: Finally, the guy that I am considering using as a faceclaim for an oc. I like his voice acting
Impression now: Angry little man
Favorite moment: I ALMOST GAVE THE WRONG ANSWER TO THIS, the correct answer is once when he comes zooming through a window really fast to kick someone in the head
Idea for a story: UhhhHHH I actually don't know
Unpopular opinion: Once again I am a projecting aroace, ship soukoku if you'd like, you won't find it in my brain however
Favorite relationship: I like his relationships with his juniors in the port mafia, I don't think much from main canon, but in Wan and so on
Favorite headcanon: He really likes dogs + puppies
Finally, the ONE AND ONLY Ice Pokémon Ranger
First impression: This character annoys my younger sibling. They hate his guts. This is hilarious, I will exploit it
Impression now: He is a Part Of My Brain Now
Favorite moment: None. I can barely replay the game because I end up with secondhand embarrassment over this stupid fictional man, and I'm incapable of choosing one that I made up myself.
Idea for a story: Currently continuing to plan out his entire life
Unpopular opinion: 97% of fanon's takes on him suck ass. I am not biased at all. If your favourite "headcanons" to post about him are shitposts that turn him into an idiot memeing dumbass, congrats, you have somehow managed to present a take that I find even more distasteful than the neverendingly flirty and sexy Ice
Favorite relationship: His Pokémon + a private queerplatonic ship that I have on my roleplay blog (if rp partner sees this, hello)
Favorite headcanon: Every headcanon I have because they're all good. He has a sweet tooth and his favourite flower is hydrangeas. He is an aromantic asexual. He is from Canalave City Sinnoh and loves it there. He is awesome at Pokémon battling etc.

Got tagged by @makumaa! <3 (The og tag chain is here, but it was so long that I decided to post this separately.)
Rules: answer 7 questions and tag 7 people you wanna want to know better
Relationship status: Single. I have never dated anyone, partially because of my mental problems but also partially because I'm an annoying ugmo whose companionship I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies let alone people I care about.
Favorite color: Teal. Blue and orange are also top tier and I love how combining pretty much any color with black and/or white looks really nice!
Three favorite foods: Bread, sushi and uhhh pizza I guess. I hate how my body seems to only love unhealthy food...
Song stuck in my head: I have honestly no idea what it is or who's the singer or where I've heard it. Maybe it's something from a tv ad or radio, I dunno? Yesterday however I was stuck with songs from the Disney's Hercules movie!
Last thing I googled: According to my browser history "African Tähti Deluxe". Afrikan tähti (=Africa's star) is a classic Finnish board game that has been in the center of some drama lately, as the theme of searching a diamond from Africa is pretty colonialist and the imagery of the game board isn't the most culturally sensitive. That's why the game has suffered a bit from the "toilet paper effect" where now everyone has been buying it in the fear of it being banned. I googled the Deluxe version of the game because I have in fact been searching it for years now, so I wanted to see if any copies would have been put for sale due to the media attention. (Disclaimer: I am not against modernifying the game by any means. But it's also a classic game for a reason - the gameplay is really fun in its simplicity.)
Dream trip: I'd want to travel to a thousand places, but if I have to choose one I would say going to Japan. Like in all the other places I'd want to see, it has such amazing nature and culture... But what wins the round for Japan is how much I would also want to just shop there. ='D Think of all the merch I could get! I would drown in Pokémon stuff and be happy about it!
Anything I want: The most simple and the most difficult thing: to be happy.
I don't think I'll tag anyone, as I don't think I could even squeeze out seven active mutuals from this site anymore. But if anyone wants to do this, consider yourself tagged! ^^

how do you like sword/shield so far? i'm a little leery of the whole reduced pokedex thing, but then again, they did this with black/white but worse. mostly, i'm intrigued by the rivals :D
The lack of a National Dex was not done with Black/White, and certainly not worse than it is here. While it’s true that only Unova pokémon were able to be found and caught in the wild in Black/White during the main story, once the main story was completed and the National Dex was obtained, players could transfer in any pokémon from Gen I to Gen IV. The ‘dex was never limited, and in fact in an interview given around that time, Masuda said that they would never limit the ‘dex because they didn’t want to cut people off from pokémon they loved the way they almost had to between Gen II and Gen III (before finding a way around it with FireRed/LeafGreen and the Colosseum/XD games). So no, the limited ‘dex that we have in Sword/Shield---and that we’re going to have in the foreseeable future---is not something they already did in Gen V. It’s brand new, and is unfortunately never going away.
That said, a brief rundown of my thoughts on Gen VIII so far, keeping in mind that I only have Sword and that I’m only just past the first gym (because I’m trying to get a Galar Ponyta through Surprise Trade and it’s not going well):
Pros:
The trainer customization is already much better than it was in Sun/Moon, and I like that you have a clothes shop right in the first (real) town, so that you don’t have to be stuck with an ugly outfit for too long if you don’t want to be. I do wish that there was a genuinely purple color option for hair, but the fact that my trainer is at least wearing good clothes soothes the wound for me.
Being able to skip (some of) the tutorials was a GODSEND. I must’ve missed the way to skip the “how to catch a pokémon” tutorial with Leon, unfortunately, but I was able to tell the others to fuck off when it came to learning what a Pokémon Center is and whatnot, and that was just so great. Honestly, I’ve been playing these games since before these characters were even conceptualized, I do not need them to tell me a goddamn thing.
I like seeing pokémon in the overworld, because it makes it not only easier to know what you’re about to do battle with, but also more realistic (in the sense that it doesn’t make sense to have a huge bear just attack you out of nowhere in tall grass; there’s no way you shouldn’t be able to see it coming).
The game is so BRITISH that I find it really charming and amusing. I like that even in the US version they kept all the English slang and terminology, and even worked it into some accents (like you can tell that Marnie is supposed to have a working class London accent, and I like that).
I like most of the characters so far, and am especially thrilled that we finally have a jerkass rival again. It’s been three thousand years . . .
I like several of the new pokémon so far. My team is only four ‘mon at the moment (would be five if I could get someone to TRADE ME A PONYTA), but they’re all good.
While there are some graphical areas that don’t look so hot (those Ocarina of Time trees . . .) other aspects, like the water, look pretty nice.
Cons:
The music, by and large, is so generic and doesn’t have a Galar feel. This has been an increasing problem with the past two gens, although admittedly there were certain themes in the Gen VII games that tried to spin a Hawaiian sound for Alola (e.g. the PokéCenter theme). In earlier gens, the wild battle and trainer battle themes were all distinctive, sometimes to the point of leaning heavily on certain instruments (e.g. Hoenn’s famous trumpets, and I remember Sinnoh having quite a bit of percussion). But in recent times the themes all kind of sound alike, to the point where the main overture can be heard in standard Galar trainer battles. As someone who always loves OSTs, that’s pretty disappointing to me.
THE STUPID Y-COMM BADGES ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SCREEN HOLY SHIT. The fact that you cannot turn these notifications off naturally is maddening. I keep having to turn wireless communication on and off to clear the notifications because that’s the only way I can figure out how to do it (because even in Local Communication you get notifications for shit you just did like?? I know what I did, leave me alone??). Y-Comm is definitely better than RotomDex, don’t get me wrong, but oh my god that thing is bloody annoying. If they could patch in a way to turn off Y-Comm notifications that would be real swell.
It’s not as bad in the spot where I am at right now, but in the beginning of the game for sure I was being stopped by either Hop or Sonia every ten seconds and that was really annoying. The writing was a bit repetitive at times now (e.g. I don’t need to be reminded every two seconds that Leon gets lost easily, I got that the first time you told me).
If you have wireless communications on in the wild area, the lag is pretty noticeable. Aside from the Y-Comm notifications, this is another reason I prefer to keep it off.
I spent $18,000 on a Gym Challenge uniform and my trainer still wears the ugly default one in challenges and I see no way to change this. I feel like I was personally victimized. (Speaking of, the Arcanine shirt is $30,000 while all other shirts are $980 hello?? Considering Arcanine is one of my signature ‘mon I feel personally attacked by this.)
The weather effects in the wild area seem random and don’t really make sense, haha. Like I get it, there are phenomena in real life where you can be in a place that’s raining and then drive through it, but how is the sunlight harsh in one spot, but two steps later it’s snowing . . . like I live in a place where we experience every time of weather phenomena there is to experience throughout the year (we have summers over 100 F easily, and then winters -10 F easily), sometimes on a day to day basis, but even then, this is kind of ridiculous lol.
I’m starting to think none of the big pokémon in the wild area will be catchable until after I beat the game considering how they’re all mysteriously still too strong after I got my first badge, but we’ll see I guess lol.
There are probably more things I could say for each, but this is where I’m at right now. I am enjoying it more than I thought I would, but my expectations going in were also rock bottom, so that’s not really saying much in terms of kudos to Game Freak, haha. We’ll see how things shake out for the rest of the game.
